A 37 year old man was found murdered at this year's Burning Man Festival in Black Rock City, Nevada and it's still unsolved. On August 30, Vadim Kruglov was found in a pool of his own blood in a tent at the event. Detectives ruled his death a homicide and there is no known suspect at this time. The crime House Daily team will be on the lookout for any updates on this tragedy. And over in San Bernardino County, California, there's an ongoing investigation after a 57 year old woman named Margaret Minier is accused of killing her 72 year old landlord, 19 Mindy Kum. The motive behind the murder is still unknown and we will keep an eye on the investigation. Our first story today dives into the mysterious death of a promising young woman. On August 5, 2025, 33 year old Martha Nolan Osatara was found unconscious on a yacht docked in Long Island, New York. While an initial autopsy found no signs of violence or trauma, investigators are awaiting toxicology results to determine her cause of death. Despite no official determination as of now, Long island prosecutors are probing whether designer drugs played a role in the mysterious death. However, in an interview, the family's attorney, Arthur Idalla said that quote, they want more details and that the circumstances surrounding this are far from typical. And lastly, they would like to know anyone who was with Martha that evening. Earlier that evening at the time of the actual incident. We know one person who was there, was anyone else around. Regarding speculations that Martha died of an overdose, their lawyer claimed that the family quote did not know her to be someone who used drugs. Martha Nolan Oslatara was a beautiful, smart, driven and hopeful young woman with big dreams. Taking a gamble on herself and her future. In 2018, at 27 years old, Martha leaves her tiny hometown in Carlow, Ireland and heads to the Big Apple to become a successful fashion designer. She knows the industry is tough to break into, but she's going to give it her best shot to pay the bills. Martha gets a job as a bottle service girl at a club in Soho which requires a lot of late nights. But it seems to pay off because in 2022, after just 44 years, Martha Co founds a label called east by east, which features swimwear, resort wear and sunglasses. Inspired by Martha's grind to get the label off the ground, the brand's tagline is built in the city, made for the sun, and it seems to do pretty well. Three years later, in July of 2025, Martha hosts her first pop up shop in the Hamptons, which is a big deal for brands like hers. The Hamptons are synonymous with wealth and glamour and if Martha can do well there, it would be a very good sign for her business. And according to Martha's TikTok, it's a success because she makes a post saying quote, goals achieved. According to reports, Martha spends the summer in the Hamptons hosting more pop ups and fashion exhibits, working on her business and marketing her brand. But on the night of August 4, 2025, Martha heads to the ritzy Montauk Yacht Club. It's not clear who she's with that night, other than a 60 year old insurance mogul named Christopher Durnan. Her activities that evening also aren't well documented. But at some point in the night, Martha boards Christopher's 54 foot yacht that's docked at the club. And around midnight, Christopher allegedly finds her unconscious. One witness who wished to remain anonymous told local news the man was naked and shouting do something, do something. As he ran along the dock trying to awaken others. But when no one responded, he threw a tube of sunscreen at a neighboring boat. This wakes up the boat's occupant and his friend who have asked to also remain anonymous. They look outside and see Christopher running down the dock and he screams for them to call 911 and they grab a phone. While they wait for help to arrive, these witnesses run to Christopher's yacht and unsuccessfully try to resuscitate Martha. By the time first responders get there, it's too late. Martha is dead.

Shortly after midnight on August 5, 2025, police find 33 year old Martha Nolan Oslata dead on a yacht in the Hamptons. They don't see any signs of violence, but it doesn't seem like Martha died of natural causes either. The toxicology reports have not come back yet, but it was reported that there was a white powdery substance on the boat close to where her body was discovered. Unfortunately, toxicology reports can take months. And with advancements in designer drugs, there are numerous substances they now have to add to their panels. And they want to be thorough with these tests because prosecutors have announced that they will be hunting for designer drug dealers and suppliers in the area. Because if their hunch is correct, the dealers could be held responsible for her death. Even if they didn't know the drugs were tainted, they could still face multiple charges, including manslaughter or criminally negligent homicide charges, as well as numerous possession and drug trafficking charges. Depending on what they uncover, Suffolk county authorities may even bring in federal investigators. These are relatively new options for the authorities in New York who were empowered in 2022 by a state legislation known as Chelsea's Law. It's named after Chelsea Murray, a 31 year old who died after taking fentanyl laced heroin. The law allows prosecutors to charge dealers with crimes like drug induced manslaughter or homicide by sale of an opiate controlled substance. And when it comes to Martha's case, investigators are using every option available to them. Right now, the investigation is being led by the Suffolk County East End Drug Task Force, which is made up of several different departments, including the county sheriff department, the district attorney's office and other police departments in the area. And although finding the dealers seems to be their primary focus, it's not the only lead they're chasing. According to Martha's family's attorney, law enforcement is actively looking into who else was present on the yacht that night. They're zeroing in on what exactly went down in the hours and minutes leading up to Martha's death. For now, Martha's loved ones are focusing on honoring her memory. On August 20, she was laid to rest in her hometown in Ireland. The priest conducting the ceremony remarked that Martha led, quote, a short life, but a packed life. And we can only hope that her family is able to find justice for her untimely passing. There's still so much to unpack from this investigation and we'll be sure to bring you any updates. And as always, be sure to follow us rimehouse247 for breaking news, our second story is connected to Hollywood royalty. Although the events are anything but glamorous, 29 year old Shawn Nicholson, the grandson of superstar actor Jack Nicholson, is facing felony domestic assault charges for allegedly attacking his ex girlfriend, 28 year old Elizabeth Lawler. Shawn has pleaded not guilty to his charges and a preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for sometime in October. This hearing will tell us a lot, how the case will move forward and if it even goes to trial. But to get the full story, we have to go back to April 2023, when Elizabeth started dating Sean. Elizabeth is studying psychology at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. It's the kind of place where you'll inevitably run into people involved in the entertainment industry. At some point, Elizabeth got to know Shawn and they started seeing each other. He's creative and isn't afraid to push artistic boundaries. He's a music producer and in his Instagram bio he says he makes, quote, horror, composition, hardcore and dark ambient. He also calls himself a patron of the dark arts. He also happens to be the grandson of a list actor, Jack Nicholson. But despite Shawn's wealthy upbringing, he's had his share of struggles. Sean's been diagnosed with schizophrenia and suffers from severe substance abuse issues. He's been in and out of rehab for abusing prescription medications and other illicit substances. Despite all of this, he seems to make his best effort at living a normal life. And with Elizabeth by his side, it seems like he's found a supportive relationship partner. But according to Elizabeth, things aren't so good behind closed doors and Shawn allegedly abuses her almost every day. The extent of it isn't clear, but according to Elizabeth, it included near constant harassment. Their relationship was on again, off again, and Elizabeth claims that Shawn would constantly harass her with calls from different numbers and a barrage of emails. Things simmer down and by summer of 2025, Elizabeth hasn't spoken to Shawn in almost a year. And it seems like he takes that time to work on himself because Shawn allegedly goes to rehab. But by July 23rd, Shawn is back home and one of the first things he does is call Elizabeth. According to Elizabeth, he says he's still struggling. Specifically, he's dealing with suicidal ideation and and that he just needs a friend to lean on. Elizabeth is initially hesitant, but according to her police report, Shawn forced the issue. And what follows puts Elizabeth in a more dangerous situation than she could ever imagine.

Elizabeth Lawler says that when she tells Shawn Nicholson she's not sure whether they should see each other, he threatens to take an entire bottle of Valium. So Elizabeth rushes to his apartment in Venice, California, just down the coast from Malibu. When she gets there around 5:30pm he's allegedly in bad shape. According to Elizabeth, Shawn is clearly high. It appears that he's mixed pills, alcohol and cocaine. Shawn says he's sober, but Elizabeth doesn't believe him. She grabs his phone and and finds texts between him and his dealer that allegedly prove he'd bought drugs. She allegedly forwards those texts between Sean and his dealer to Sean's mom, Jennifer. But what happens next isn't clear. Around this point, Elizabeth claims that Sean grabs her by the neck and slams her into an unidentified hard object, and right after she crashes into that object, she's knocked unconscious. When Elizabeth wakes up, her mouth is bleeding and one of her front teeth is broken. She immediately reaches for her phone, but Shawn gets to it first and he won't give it back to her. The alleged series of events after this isn't fully pieced together yet. There's not a detailed timeline, but according to Elizabeth, she tries to run and Sean drags her back inside. At some point, she claims he put her in a chokehold, restricting her airway, and he only lets her leave when she starts screaming. After this, it seems like Elizabeth runs into a security guard on her way out, and later reports say he calls a paramedic. What happens next isn't clear, but it doesn't seem like anyone shows up right away. And Elizabeth never makes it out of the building because Shawn brings Elizabeth back up to to his apartment. Later on, Elizabeth gets her phone back, and when she does, she takes the opportunity to send pictures of her injuries to Shawn's mom, Jennifer. When Jennifer sees this, she doesn't hesitate. She calls 911, even if it means that her son might get in trouble. Shortly after, two police officers arrive at the apartment. Elizabeth is there, dazed and in pain. Apparently, Sean isn't taken into custody, but an ambulance rushes Elizabeth to a nearby hospital and she's in bad shape. Given the state of her injuries, doctors want to make sure Elizabeth hasn't suffered any brain damage. A CT scan confirms that she's okay, but she still needs emergency dental surgery and stitches for her facial injuries. While Elizabeth recovers, the police start the investigation into Shawn. It takes a little while to confirm everything, but 13 days later, on August 5th, the LAPD arrests Sean on a felony charge of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant. That same day, he's released on a $50,000 bond. With him walking free, Elizabeth is afraid for her safety. So on August 11, she files a restraining order request. That day, the judge grants the restraining order, and Sean is required to stay at least on 100 yards away from her. Elizabeth is also asking for him to pay for her medical bills, including her $6,000 hospital stay and over $30,000 in therapy costs from his alleged abuse over the years. If you're thinking that sounds like a lot of money, the trauma victims of domestic abuse experience not only lasts a lifetime, but it actually rewires the brain. Because of this, recovering from the physical and psychological repercussions of abuse takes an incredible amount of work. The judge didn't immediately rule on the financial aspect of the case, but Sean was ordered to appear in court on August 26 to enter his plea. If convicted, he could face up to four years in state prison. He shows up as ordered and enters a not guilty plea. At that time, Sean's attorney makes a statement saying that his family is fully supporting him through the legal battle, and that includes, quote, jack the king. However, on September 5, Radar Online published an article with quotes from an anonymous source described as an insider with the Nicholson family. This source says that Jack is encouraging Sean to accept responsibility for his actions, which is refreshing because the families of many men who commit acts of violence typically try and deny all allegations and protect them. But justice deserves to be served regardless of your name or how much money is in your bank account. And if Elizabeth's allegations prove to be true, she deserves to see her attacker held responsible. Sean's preliminary hearing is currently set for sometime in October, so we should get a lot more insight into this case then, and we'll share any major updates. And as always, follow us rimehouse24seven for breaking news. Up next, a Georgetown law professor was found guilty for beating his wife.
