Okay, before we get into our main stories of the day, I wanted to quickly touch on another case. Crime House Team is watching a cold case that might have just had a breakthrough after nearly 20 years back in 2005, a 20 year old English man named Stephen Cook disappeared on his very first trip without his parents, and for years there were no answers. But in 2017, his remains were discovered in Malia. That chilling find eventually led investigators to a suspect who's now been arrested and charged with murder. After two decades of mystery, this case is finally heading to court in the coming weeks. The Crime House team is following the case, so make sure to follow us. Rimehouse24seven on Instagram and TikTok for the latest news on that. Today's first story is about a brutal attack on an Arkansas hiking trail where a public school teacher is accused of murdering a married couple, leaving their two young daughters orphaned. He recently pleaded not guilty to those crimes, but DNA evidence says otherwise, so we'll find out more when he goes back into court in November. But for now, let's get into it. On Saturday, July 26, 2025, 43 year old Clinton Brink and his wife, 41 year old Kristen, go on a hike with their two young daughters who are 7 and 9. They decide to go to nearby Devil's Den State park in northwest Arkansas. The family had moved to the state about three weeks earlier. Clinton is about to start a new job as a milk delivery driver, while Kristin is a registered nurse. With the girls starting school soon, this hike is the perfect chance to enjoy the outdoors before life gets a little too hectic. I'm guessing they're pretty experienced hikers because the area of the park they're in is somewhat remote, with rugged terrain from thick vegetation and barely any cell service. But soon the peaceful excursion is interrupted. As the Brinks venture along the path, a man suddenly lunges at them from out of nowhere. He's got a knife. And he goes straight for Clinton, who fights back. Meanwhile, Kristen grabs the girls and books it. It seems like they've gotten pretty deep into their hike by that point, because by the time Kristen gets the girls far away from the attacker, they're still on the trail with no one else in sight. Then Kristen makes a tough choice. She tells the girls to stay put and runs back to help her husband, Clinton. The girls do as their mother says, and after a while, another hiker comes down the trail and gets them help. Since service is so spotty, it's hard to know exactly how much time has passed between the attack and when the bystander calls 911. But we do know that around 3pm Local police are alerted.
Unknown Announcer
That's two. Two bodies down here. Two children are there. They advise that their parents were assaulted. One was possibly stabbed.
Katie
Soon officers swarm the trails, making a beeline for the spot the attacker struck. And eventually they find Clinton and Kristen. But it's a tragic discovery. Both parents have been killed. And while we don't know all of the details, it seems like they each sustained multiple stab wounds. Officers scour the area, but they don't find a knife or anything else that could have been used as the murder weapon. They do, however, collect DNA samples that they think might belong to the killer. Once they're done, they go to where the two girls are being safely held. Fortunately, they're both completely unharmed. And not only that, they're able to provide officers with a description of of the man who attacked their father. They also speak with the other park goers to see if anyone saw anything. And one person says they saw a man driving a black four door sedan, possibly a Mazda, shortly after the time of the attack. After hearing this, Arkansas State police launch a manhunt. They ask everyone who visited the park that day to send them any phone or GoPro footage that they have that could potentially help them find the killer. And they also ask nearby residents to send them any. Any security footage they may have. There's not much information on what they were sent, but soon authorities tell the public they're looking for a white man with a Medium build, who is wearing a long sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up, dark pants and a dark hat and sunglasses. They also say he was believed to be carrying a black backpack and wearing fingerless gloves. Then, about three days after the attack, authorities release a sketch of their suspect. They also say that he likely sustained injuries from the incident. And just two days after the sketch goes out, a man matching the description is spotted at a barber shop in Springdale, Arkansas, which is just 30 miles from Devil's Den State Park. The suspect's name is Andrew McGann. He's a 28 year old public school teacher who had worked in Texas and Oklahoma before arriving in Arkansas for a new job. His profession makes a lot of people suspicious, especially given McCann's job and the fact that Clinton and Kristin's two school age daughters were present for the attack. Which leads to some unsettling theories. Andrew McCann always passed his background checks, but his reputation wasn't spotless. Shortly after the news breaks, a school district in Texas where McGann used to work sends out a letter to the families. In the letter, they explain that back in spring of 2023, they received complaints about McGann related to, quote, poor classroom management and poor professional judgment, specifically regarding alleged favoritism. They say they investigated the allegations and as a result of their findings, they put McGann on administrative leave. It is, however, worth noting that the investigation didn't find any evidence of inappropriate behavior towards students. But once the parents of McGann's former students catch wind of the statement, they come forward with different takes. According to them, McGann's behavior towards female students was pretty concerning. One parent says McGann used to tickle female students and ask them to sit on his lap. Another claims that during recess, McGann would keep some female students alone in the classroom with him. These parents heard these things from their own kids who were also in McGann's class. We must clarify that these are allegations, but pretty soon there is hard evidence for his role in the hiker's murders. The DNA results came back and McGann is a match for the sample that was collected at the scene. It seems like McGahn knows the evidence is stacked against him because around this time, he confesses to the double homicide and he's charged with two counts of capital murder in Arkansas. This could mean the death penalty, which prosecutors are pursuing. So that might be why McGann reverses course and pleads not guilty on both counts. And since it's a death penalty case, prosecutors expect the trial to take years, which can happen in capital punishment cases. In the meantime, there's still quite a bit of mystery to unravel. For starters, authorities haven't said exactly what led to McGann's arrest, which is typical for this stage of the investigation. They don't want too much information getting out too soon and potentially jeopardizing their case. But the main question we're currently Left with is McGann's motive. Right now, we don't know if authorities just got an erratic criminal off the streets or a calculated one. Either way, McGann is currently being held without bond. So hopefully we'll start to get more answers when his next court date rolls around on November 14th. The most important thing right now is that Clinton and Kristin's daughters are safe and in the care of family. Their family members also released a statement saying, quote, clinton and Kristen died heroes protecting their little girls. They deserve justice. They will forever live on in all of our hearts as always. If there are any new developments in this case, we'll be sure to bring you all of the updates and make sure to follow us. Rimehouse247 for breaking news. Next we'll tackle another story. Almost two decades in the making, a serial fraudster, rapist, and registered sex offender is finally facing justice.

This next story is about an insane string of crimes committed by one man. He claimed to be a former political activist, but he's finally being revealed as a true monster. He is. He was just convicted of rape in August, and he's currently awaiting his sentencing date. Sometime this month, he'll go on trial for another crime, but it could also be pushed to October. It's a long, tragic story that goes back years. Please be advised that the story does contain themes of sexual assault, so please listen with care. Let's get into it. We'll begin the case in 2008 with a 19 year old woman named Mary Grabinsky. Mary was a college student at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, which is a town known for its Midwestern hospitality and affordability. Because of the nature of this case, let me note that there's not much known about Mary herself, and that's because she's a victim, and victims of sexual assault are usually protected. Mary got a message from another student on MySpace in 2008. If you're too young to know what MySpace is, it's basically the equivalent of today's social media. The student who went by Nicholas Rossi, told Mary he was new in town and wanted to make friends. So they exchanged texts back and forth for a bit, and they decide to meet up at the campus cafeteria one day. When they meet up, Rossi offers to walk Mary to class. He must have made a good impression because she accepts. But as they stroll through campus, things take a dark turn, and Mary learns that Rossi isn't the normal guy she thinks he is. She's been misled. At some point, while walking in an area where no one else is around, Rossi grabs Mary and pins her against a wall in a stairwell. Then he puts his hand down her pants and begins touching himself. She begs him to stop, but Rossi continues until he ejaculates on the wall behind her before finally letting her go. Mary escapes, and later that day, she runs into Rossi again. At that point, he apologizes to her. He says that she's so beautiful, he just couldn't help himself. Rossi is clearly trying to manipulate Mary, downplaying what happened and begging her not to tell anyone. But Mary's brave, and she files a police report. Authorities soon arrest Rossi. Though he insists the encounter was consensual, the jury doesn't buy it. He's convicted of sexual imposition and public indecency and ordered to register as a sex offender for for 15 years. Still, Rossi refuses to take responsibility. He even sues Mary in federal court for defamation, bizarrely accusing her of targeting him over unfaithful relationships and infidelity. A judge swiftly dismisses the case with prejudice, calling his claims baseless. While Rossi faces punishment, Mary Is left to rebuild her life after the trauma. And later, she'll discover truths about Rossi that would haunt anyone. Nicholas Rossi was born Nicholas Oliver Dean in Providence, Rhode island. His father was an abusive drug addict who deserted his family. His mother later remarried, and Nicholas ended up in foster care. Accounts differ on why, but by 21, he'd moved to Ohio, where he crossed paths with Mary. And that attack was only the first in a long string of cruel, violent acts. After that attack, he moves to the city of Orem, which is in northern Utah, where he meets another woman on MySpace. She's 21 years old, and current legal filings refer to her with the moniker kp. KP and Rossi begin dating, but pretty soon, she's not happy in the relationship. Not only does he borrow money from her without paying her back, he also becomes increasingly aggressive towards her, Something that Mary had experienced, too. By September of 2008, after only a few months of dating, they're broken up. And on September 13, KP goes to Rossi's house to demand the money he owes her. This infuriates him. Rossi completely loses it and attacks KP and rapes her. The very next day, KP has a rape kit performed. And while the results give authorities what they would need to catch Rossi, Utah has a huge backlog of rape kits. So KP's rape kit sits on a shelf for years. In the meantime, Rossi moves to south Salt lake and and his pattern of behavior continues. He quickly starts seeing a new woman after meeting her online, and she's given the moniker miss. And after just two weeks of dating, they get engaged. But within no time, Ms. Sees his true colors, Just like he did with kp, Rossy borrows money from Ms. And doesn't pay her back. He also gets a increasingly aggressive. Soon, Ms. tells Rossi she wants to break up. In a fit of rage, he pins her down and sexually assaults her. Ms. Doesn't immediately go to the police, and in fact, it's hard to know when exactly she first spoke with authorities. Rossi's whereabouts are also hard to track for the next couple of years. But when he resurfaces in 2010, his treatment of women becomes even more vile. So good, so good. So good.

In November of 2010, 23 year old Nicholas Rossi, who was born Nicholas Oliver Dean Robert, returns to his home state of Rhode Island. He starts going by his given name again, but to keep things simple, I'll keep calling him Rossi. He manages to get a job as a page in the Rhode Island State House and from there he climbs the ladder and becomes a legislative aide. People are impressed with his wealth of knowledge and hard working attitude. So when he begins advocating for reform to the foster care system, he he gains a lot of public support. His personal life is also thriving. Once again, he's engaged. And this time Rossi hides his true colors long enough to walk down the aisle with her. But just about the moment they're married, he becomes physically abusive. One incident is so bad that his wife calls the police. Officers arrive and take Rossi into custody. In the back of the squad car, he bangs his head against the window repeatedly. The officers can't get him to stop, so eventually they pepper spray him at the station. He's charged with misdemeanor domestic assault. Rossi pleads no contest and gets probation and a divorce. He's ruined his reputation in Rhode island, so he decides to go back to Ohio and he's on the prowl once again. In 2015, when Rossi's around 28, he moves back to Dayton and he doesn't even care that he's registered as a sex offender there. If anything, he tries to clear his name. He establishes a non profit that aims to revitalize downtown Dayton. He also starts attending church where you guessed it, he meets another woman. Her name is Katherine Heckendorn. They get married and Rossi again starts abusing her. In one really horrifying incident. He locks her in the bathroom for two days because she turned down sex. After that, Catherine files for divorce and Rossi denies ever assaulting her. But he does agree to the split, which leaves Rossi for free to go back on the move. But his pass is about to catch up to him. About three years later, in 2018, Utah makes a push to clear its rape kit backlog. KP's is finally processed. She's the first woman that Rossi assaulted in Utah. Through the results of her rape kit, authorities identify Rossi as the perp and begin searching for him. But it's hard to find him since he's moved around so much. In early 2020, he relocates to Montreal, Canada. And there, Rossi decides it's time to completely reinvent himself. He starts going by the name Timothy Arthur Nicholas Knight Brown. He begins looking for work, describing himself as an Ireland based Ivy League graduate with a background found in public relations and international law. It's vague, but it's also interesting enough to get anyone's attention. In February of that year, Rossi connects with a woman named Nafsika Antipas. Nafsika is a TV host and she's launching her own vegan cheese company. She hires Rossi, who she knows as Timothy Arthur Nicholas Knight Brown to do marketing for her company. She pays him $30,000, and Rossi takes the money but does nothing to help her. When Navsika realizes she's been scammed, she cuts off Rossi's access to her website and sends him one last message to let him know he's fired. In response, Rossi tells her she needs to pay him $40,000 and threatens to ruin her reputation if she refuses. Nafsika does not hand over the cash. Instead, she files a police report. She also hires a private investigator to try to learn more about the fraudster. And that's how she learns there is no one in the world by the name of Timothy Arthur Nicholas Knight Brown. From everything we've learned so far, it's clear that Rossi is a man who lies, manipulates, and exploits. While Nofsika starts to realize that Rossi's scam runs deeper than just lying about his identity, a local station back in his hometown announces that Nicholas Oliver Dean, Rossi's original identity, is dead. According to the report, Oliver Dean died of cancer in February of 2020 at the age of 32. This is obviously not true, but people in Rhode island mourn him. Politicians paid tribute to him from the floor of the Rhode Island State House. In reality, Rossi learned that he's wanted on rape charges in Utah. So he's gone on the run again. This time, Rossi crosses the Atlantic Ocean into Scotland and he shortens his fake name to Arthur Knight. At some point while he's there, he comes down with a bad case of COVID and has to go to the hospital. He uses his new alias when he checks in, but hospital workers start to wonder if that's really who he is. They notice a bunch of distinctive tattoos on his arms. They think that they've seen them on an Interpol notice that warned about a wanted fugitive named Nicholas Oliver Dean. Rossi's mugshot is also included in the notice. So when the hospital staff check it again, they, they confirm it's him. Scottish authorities quickly apprehend Rossi, but he claims that it's just a case of mistaken identity and even starts speaking in a British accent to prove it. He tells authorities and does news interviews, saying that he's an Irish orphan who became a businessman. And he claims he is married to a woman who he met at a London Museum in 2011. But these are crazy claims and authorities aren't buying it. By 2022, legal proceedings over his possible extradition back to the US begin. But Rossi finds every possible way to push it off. He shows up in court in a wheelchair and with an oxygen mask, and he claims it's because of his Covid. He also insists that the only reason his tattoos match the ones shown in the Interpol notice is because when he had Covid, someone snuck into his hospital while he was unconscious and gave him all of those tattoos as a way to frame him. But he can only delay the inevitable for so long. In January of 2024, the 36 year old is flown back to the US after a judge looked at the photographs and fingerprints, deciding that Arthur Knight and Nicholas Oliver Dean were the same person. On October 16, 2024, Rossi is placed behind bars in Utah. During a bail hearing, he finally admits that he is in fact Nicholas Oliver Dean. But he's still not about to tell the whole truth. He claims he moved to Scotland because of, quote, credible threats against his life from people in Rhode island who oppose his foster youth advocacy. He says he changed his name to protect himself, but the judge sees right through him and denies bail. Rossi pleads not guilty and remains in custody. On August 11, 2025, his trial begins for one of two alleged rapes in Utah. Rossi still shows up to court in a wheelchair and an oxygen tank. But the act still doesn't get him any sympathy because after a short three day trial, a jury finds him guilty of first degree felony rape. Rossi faces sentencing in October and he could get anywhere from 5 years to life in prison. And personally, if he's found guilty, I very much hope he is charged with the latter sometime this month or next month. He'll also go to trial for another rape charge in Utah County. I want to note that this story followed Nicholas Rossi and his timeline of terrible crimes, but let's not forget the fact that many women he assaulted are still reeling with the aftermath of this behavior and their trauma will last a lifetime. He went unstopped going from woman to woman, and his crimes go back as far as 2008 when he first hurt Mary. In a BBC article, Mary says that he had a Dr. Jekyll and Hyde personality, adding that he was kind to her when they first met, but then something in him switched the day he assaulted her. Mary hopes Rossi will face justice, saying, quote, he is trying to fool everybody and I'm glad so many people see through it.
