Barrick Lowe, a 48 year old regulatory attorney for Illumina, was killed after stopping to exchange insurance information near the State Route 52 interchange. Lowe had just picked up his daughters, ages 7 and 9 from fencing class and and was traveling to meet his wife and 5 year old son for dinner when a Nissan Pathfinder clipped his car. The routine roadside encounter turned into a gruesome execution when the other driver refused to get out of his car. According to officials, Lowe approached the suspect's window to fulfill his legal obligation not only as a citizen, but but also an officer of the court. When the driver tried to flee the scene, Lowe reportedly stood in front of the SUV with his hands on the hood to prevent a hit and run. Instead of stopping, the assailant allegedly floored the accelerator, striking low with such bone crushing force that his head hit the edge of the pavement, inflicting unsurvivable injuries while his daughters watched through the windshield. Lowe was taken to a local hospital and died two days later due to the extensive trauma. The suspect, 57 year old Lawrence Wynn, was apprehended days later after witnesses provided crucial tips that led investigators to his damaged car. Wynn, a previously convicted felon who whose criminal history stretches back over 30 years, was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to charges including murder and hit and run resulting in death. Prosecutors revealed that due to his prior serious felony conviction, Wynn could face up to 25 years to life under California's free strikes law. He remains in custody without bond. More crime and justice news after this.

In a stunning development that has reignited decades of trauma, a Bay Area mother who methodically smothered her three young daughters to death has been found suitable for parole in Daly City, California. Megan Hogg, now 53 was deemed eligible for release by a California Board of Parole Hearings panel during a session at the Central California Women's Facility. Relative Carla Douglas spoke to the media. I'm fearful for her to come in and see if she started another family. I don't think she learned from it. This marks the second time she has received such approval, sending the final decision to Governor Gavin Newsom for a high stakes review. The Nightmare unfolded on March 23, 1998 when a 25 year old hog bound the mouths and feet of her girls Antoinette, 7, Angelique, 3 and Alexandra, 2, with duct tape. In a display of chilling depravity, she clutched each child to her chest until they suffocated inside their modest home. Prosecutors revealed the motive was as petty as it was lethal. Hogg allegedly believed the girls loved their grandmother more than her. After the executions, Pog downed a toxic cocktail of hot chocolate and painkillers and in a failed suicide attempt before their grandmother discovered the bodies. Despite pleading no contest to three counts of first degree murder in 1999, Hogg has spent years fighting for freedom. While seven family members supported her release during the recent hearings, other relatives continue to lead the charge against her, stating that the prospect of Hogg's freedom is quote unquote, like ripping the band aid off a wound that never healed. End quote. Although former governor Jerry Brown blocked her release in 2018, the current board claims Hogg's therapy and self help participation warrant her return to society. Hogg's fate now sits on Governor Newsom's desk with a final decision expected by late July. If he fails to block the board's ruling within this 150 day review window, this child killer will walk out of prison possibly by this fall. And finally, he is nacho Average thief. A Florida man is in a real pickle after his spicy plan to crunch the numbers at Target went sour. Keith Wallace, 39, was arrested in Palm beach for allegedly seasoning 75 separate thefts with 99 cent taco packets. Taco bout a bad idea. Between July of 2025 and February of 2026, Wallace allegedly swapped pricey trading card barcodes for cheap spices, folding over 40,000 bucks in eBay profits into his own pocket. He didn't just want the whole enchilada, he wanted the cards too. Now facing a supreme 90 year sentence for organized retail theft and money laundering, Wallace's criminal career is officially chipped.
