Narrator
The end of the saga grows near. There is no time to talk, no time to breathe. There is only time for dread. When we last left you, Darby, you reluctantly decided to enact this ritual to allow the Goatman to come into your presence. He tells you a great darkness infests this land and it craves death. And it's his fault. But he can now help you.
Darby
It worked. He was here. What? Where? He was right here. But he's good. We can cleanse this land. Look. This is proof. He has given me a location in my mind where I can find a tool to help us. What? The key is where the water lies still and the water no longer gives life, but drinks death instead. In the back of the house. Yeah. Let's go to the well.
Narrator
The four of you stealthily creep through the house and you run up to the big bay windows and all four of you make a mad dash for the well. The question is, it's only big enough for one person to go down.
Darby
I'm sorry I didn't believe you. I told you that I was in love with you. I meant I still am. Come back.
Narrator
You hear a thud as the bucket hits the bottom of the well and you see more bodies. It's a sticky quagmire of gore and you have to reach into it. Larby. As you fish around, you see these pictographs that seem to be carved into these stones.
Darby
Jeremy, can you hear me? Yeah. Try. I have three numbers. 0, 4 and 26. I don't know what order they go in a bowl and a little book.
Narrator
Sad. As you open the book and attempt to read the pictographs that are inside of it you can gleam at least some kind of recognition of what each one may be.
Darby
What was in the book?
Narrator
What is in the book. Indeed, Sam. Welcome back to the final episode of Dread. You four have managed to make it this far, and through sheer will, determination, and a little blood, you've managed to get the key to whatever this land is being plagued by. Sat. You stared at the small book that had the pictograms of what is deciphered inside of there, and you were able to tell that something in this clue holds the key to the past, the present, and the future of this land. Also in the world is the darkness. That's as much as you were able to put together and glean as part of this. At the same time, you're still in the middle of a gazebo, out in the midst of the garden of this grand Victorian mansion with the undead, who seem to be constantly vigilant, as if they're waiting for someone or something to come and rip away the secret of this world's fate. What do you wish to do?
Darby
Past, present, future, darkness. If this is a thing, maybe something about today's the day that we can actually fold time and maybe we can bring him back and then seal the whole thing and then make this stupid situation go away. Yeah. What was communicated to me was that the blight would be purged. But the last ritual we have to do is at the top of a mountain that I can see in my head. But where is it?
Narrator
But first, you have to get out of this gazebo.
Darby
Wait, wait, wait. Okay. Just in case you don't make it out of here, it's a possibility. What is this? And what is this stupid ritual? That will be made clear once we get to the location, but, yes, that's a good plan. I might not make it out, so we have to protect you. No. Yeah.
Narrator
Yeah, Yeah.
Darby
I guess so. Lucky you.
Narrator
Darby, you can go through the way that you originally came with your group. You did crawl through the window into the house. Or you could go around, but there are dead there, too.
Darby
There was a hidden path. When Tanner and I went to go to look for the dark room, it was overgrown, almost impossible to see, but it was definitely a path leading up.
Caden
What's the fastest way? Through the back of the garden or through the terrace?
Darby
Through the back of the garden.
Caden
I got a dumb plan.
Narrator
Okay, Caden, what's your dumb plan?
Caden
26? Actually, no.
Narrator
0. Oh, God.
Caden
I'm gonna throw a rock at the.
Darby
House.
Caden
And see if the sound attracts them and we run the other way from the gazebo. Once they start swarming the house.
Darby
The window.
Narrator
Yeah, I was gonna make you pull for it, but that sounds wonderful. Throw the rock, Caden. Get it? Boom. You hear as it crashes against the side of the building and glass splinters as it rocks along the side. And you watch as they run straight for the house. Full bolt, full bullet, go. And you come across the side. You go along the six 60 foot side wing and double around the side. The bushes on this side of the house were not kept in the way that the open garden or even the front was. So there are brambles and tears and small amount of sticks that rub and grate against your skin. It's nothing compared to what you've been through at this point. So you push it all away, hands bleeding and arms gashed. But you push through the other side of the house and bolt straight through the woods. And as you purr through the woods, you hear nothing. It seems so much that this journey is coming to an end. You're gonna go up there, you're gonna perform the ritual, and you're gonna cleanse this land. And it will be easy. What are you thinking right now, Reyna?
Darby
I'm so relieved to have some end in sight. I'm so glad you're still here. But I feel so guilty for letting Tanner die. So I just really need this to work. And I don't really believe it's gonna bring him back, but if there's a chance that that would be great. We have to. And in the meantime, I'm never handing somebody else a danger that can be mine again.
Narrator
Darby, where are you at at this climax of an entire year's worth of work?
Darby
Well, the main feeling is complete validation that I did it. That I was right, that I wasn't crazy. That I ditched all of my self doubt and mood disorders and everything to lean into this fucked up purpose.
Caden
And.
Darby
And it finally seemed to work out for once in my life. And I only half believed in myself. But even that half belief paid off. And I feel guilty that it seems that I'm the only vessel and like SAT said, that they might have to protect me. But I have a feeling that I'm on my way out anyway. If I can't bring Tanner back, SAT's going to get me. If I don't succeed, the Goat Shaman's gonna get me. I just want to fulfill this task.
Narrator
And you have a lot of enemies right now for sure, but you do also have a purpose.
Darby
Yes.
Narrator
And it seems clear what that is.
Darby
At the moment and at the moment the goat shaman seems good.
Narrator
Caden, did you think you were gonna survive this long? Did you think you were actually gonna make it?
Caden
None of my expectations have been met. I can't believe we've made it this far. I can't believe so many of us have made it this far. I have to keep them safe. I don't trust this. Somebody has to be paying attention. Somebody has to be there for when everything goes horribly, horribly wrong and I need them all to be okay.
Narrator
That's very, very selfless for someone who started this whole journey with a desire to say fuck you to the world and everyone around them. What's changed?
Caden
I don't think anything changed. I think. I don't think I really understood why I was here. I think I was lying. I think I only understood part of it. I wanted to be worth something. And the only thing I knew that was worth anything was them. So I found some meaning again.
Narrator
And that meaning is right here as you're walking with this group of friends towards the final destination, the final challenge. In front of you sat Tanner's death seems to have shaken you up more than anyone here. What's going on?
Darby
I am so mad at everybody. They left me alone, and I actually inside feel like they deserve this chaos. But Tanner didn't need to die. None of them need to die. And I just kind of wanted to shake him up a little bit. I just have so much I need to say to all of them. Man, Tanner.
Narrator
As you sit looking at your hands, thinking about just how much Tanner meant to you, and now that he is gone, it's hard to focus on anything else other than the emotions that are racking through you at this moment and the sheer amount of dread that you feel about the people around you to simultaneously hate them and at the same time validate their pain. Make a pull.

Narrator
In the midst of the silence as you're walking contemplating everything that happened up to this point, you are amazed at just how much of the outside world you're able to tune out. And so it comes as a surprise to you when you hear the sound of a motor as if someone is going to mow the lawn. It's a small distinct sound and you watch as a steel bladed chainsaw comes down and misses you ever so slightly as it cleaves off three or four branches night on the side of you. And Simon is sitting there and he throws himself down upon right where you were feeling the steel cut blades of the chainsaw as it digs into the tree trunk.
Darby
I push my friends forward and out of the way so that they don't get hurt.
Narrator
And you run. Well, I'm presuming I should run. You can feel the heat and the fumes. You can smell the gasoline of this small motor as he pulls it out of the tree trunk. And you run. And you run.
Darby
Do I know where I'm going?
Narrator
Yes, you do.
Darby
Okay, you run. I'm in the lead.
Narrator
Then as you keep moving and it's only a small amount of time before you break into the clearing as you hear the chainsaw literally 15 to 20ft behind you as Simon continues to as he continues to wield his chainsaw to and fro, to and fro. And there is an opportunity here to use the cabin if you wish. Or you can continue to push on through towards the hiking trail itself and get up to where that medicine wheel is. But you'll be having a crazed psychopath chasing you the entire way.
Darby
I just don't think that Doing a ritual for healing with a man who represents death is wise. Oh, I think he's gonna kill us if we don't run. What do I see when I look at the cabin?
Narrator
A disheveled pile of wooden rubble.
Darby
Is there anything heavy and large? Oh, my gosh, what am I thinking? Is there anything big and metal like perhaps that I can pick up?
Narrator
There's heavy wooden things. It's a wooden cabin.
Caden
Fuck it. I've got a set of brass knuckles in my pocket. All right, I'm gonna hop. Well, we can do this. I'm gonna look at you. I'm say, stop being so fucking selfish. I'm gonna bounce off a tree, turn around, just smack him square in the fucking teeth.
Narrator
Put one right in him. Kaden. Make a poll. Kaden. As you look towards everyone and you turn to Sat and you make this declaration of stop being so fucking selfish. You pull this pair of brass knuckles right out from the midst of your bag and you, in a beautiful, fleeting way.
Darby
Is there any way I can help him? Can I? I mean, is it a thing?
Narrator
That is not how the game works. Sat. Sat. This is something that Cayden is owning. He did this. He looked at you and he made this declaration as he pulled these knuckles out of his bag and he looked at you. And you need to interpret what he says based on what you think is best. This is not cool now, Caden. He's in it. He is in it and he is lifting, lifted his hand up and he has kicked his foot off of the side of that tree and he is throwing himself straight into Simon, who is wielding an eight pound chainsaw.
Caden
Keep hitting till it's fucking paced. Hitting til he's fucking paced.
Narrator
Keep hitting him till he's fucking paced.
Caden
Fuck it. Fuck it. We all walk away.
Narrator
Caden. You bounce off that tree and you grab into him and you watch as his body falls down to the ground. And you sit over him prone, and you hold his head in your hand and you just wail on him over and over and over and over. You look at the bloody, disheveled face with the engine still running. Take the off switch.
Darby
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Narrator
As he seems still, it's almost as if he's sleeping.
Caden
How much of a head does he have left?
Narrator
Still quite a bit.
Darby
Oh.
Narrator
Curb stomp right onto the middle of Simple Simon's head as you feel it squish like a melon underneath you and gore and brain matter splatters in front of you everywhere.
Darby
Heart. Yes, do it.
Narrator
I'm gonna cut the heart out Dive in this and.
Darby
Oh.
Narrator
Kayden. If you didn't know what it was to burst through a rib cage, you would. Now you pull and you crack open ribs as you gut in there. And you feel your hands dripping and pulsing with this man's lifeblood, which is still beating. As you pull the thing out and you throw it, it bounces unceremoniously off the side of a tree.
Caden
Is it still beating?
Narrator
No.
Darby
Well done.
Caden
Sorry. I'm gonna throw up.
Darby
I grabbed the chainsaw.
Narrator
You grabbed the chainsaw?
Caden
Yeah.
Narrator
And you hold onto it. Holy fuck.
Caden
I'm sorry.
Darby
No. Thank you.
Caden
I'm sorry.
Darby
Nothing to be sad for.
Caden
We can't save him. Just us, okay? Just us.
Darby
We just saw crazy things. I don't care. Anything is possible.
Caden
I need you to say just us.
Darby
I can't.
Caden
I just need you to stop. Please.
Darby
Three.
Caden
Three more. Just get three more out. Three more out. Three more out. I get three more out. We each get three more out.
Narrator
Okay. Okay?
Darby
Yeah.
Caden
Three more.
Darby
Fine. I said okay.
Caden
I love you. I'm so sorry.
Darby
I missed you.
Caden
I'm so sorry. I loved my. I'm so sorry.
Darby
You guys are always fighting it. So stupid.
Caden
I know. Fuck him.
Narrator
I know.
Darby
Why couldn't you just be nice to him?
Caden
I can't be nice to anybody.
Darby
You're nice to me.
Narrator
No, I'm not.
Darby
Once.
Caden
Fuck.
Narrator
The rest of the walk is pretty uneventful, truth be told. In fact, a lot of this.
Darby
Before we get too far out of the clearing, let me take a picture.
Narrator
Oh. As I said, the rest of the walk is pretty uneventful. You get up to the top of the mesa after clearing lots of underbrush and footage, and you wind your way slowly up to the top of the mesa that overlooks the rest of Black Mountain. It's starting to get dark. You haven't lost the light, but it is waning and the end of the day is coming. And the first thing you notice when you get to the top of the mesa is actually not what's laying on the floor, but the city lights that are not more than 50, 60 miles away, maybe. And you are amazed at just how close civilization could be and have all of this happen right underneath its nose. As all four of you gaze into the skyline together, you turn and look to see in a clearing. Embedded at the very top is a flat piece of land with colored rocks, white, copper and gray, laid out in front of you in a beautiful medicine wheel. What do you want to do?
Darby
Paper.
Narrator
Yeah, paper.
Darby
This is it. This is the medicine wheel. We Just draw it? Yeah, you know, the ritual. So, ritual us, There's a whistle and there's a leather ornament talisman. What if we do the past, the present, the future, and an empty circle for light. For light. What goes in the middle? The bowl, I guess. Then we. Yeah, we blow the whistle. I mean, the bowl must be there for a reason. We could each put a drop of our blood into the bowl. That is a lot. That's a lot of what rituals are. Especially when you're dealing with the occult. Your book doesn't say anything else.
Caden
Covered in other people's blood. It might be a little difficult to.
Darby
Well, distinguish which way is north.
Narrator
You are currently looking out to the north side of the mountain towards the mesa, which would mean that the skyline in front of you, this quadrant would be facing the as above.
Darby
So which one of these should go north? The present, the future.
Caden
Future futures in front of us. Past is behind us.
Darby
Okay.
Caden
Darkness is on our left. In the present to our right.
Narrator
Maybe.
Darby
Okay, yeah. Do future north, I think like that.
Caden
That's what I.
Darby
See. I'm still an artist. Are we. Are we blood?
Narrator
Close, Darby. You feel it's close, but there's something wrong.
Darby
What? It's not right. Is it not pointed the right way? I don't know exactly what it is. Should we wipe them out? Yeah. Okay, so maybe we use this as the darkness or the light. Oh, okay. That's pretty cool. Maybe just shift it one over so that, that's. What was that before? That was the past before. No, that was the future. That was the future before. So I want to rotate it. No, no, that was. That was. This is the past. And, yeah, it was the past before. Oh, boy. We can make it the future if we do it this way. Oh. Oh, okay, okay. So you want to face that up.
Narrator
Darby. You hear of. You feel this intensity upon you? It's angry, it's upset. This isn't right. You were close. You were close. There was just a small thing.
Darby
What was it? What is it? I'm sorry, what is it? What was it? Is it wrong? Yes. Yes. We'll do it again. He's mad at me. What was the first one? He's mad at me. We have to heal it. What was the first one? Does he tell you what to do? No, he's not saying anything. He's just yelling at me. No. Okay, maybe we have to color it in. Maybe we have to color the darkness in.
Narrator
Darby, the bowl. The bowl. What are you doing with the bowl? There's nothing inside of that and you made the same mistake again. It's not in the order. It's not what you're doing, it's how you're drawing it.
Darby
We're not doing it right, you guys. The bowl is wrong and everything's wrong. We're not drawing it right. Tell us how to do it right. I don't know. Draw. Oh, wait. Okay, everyone, let's do it all at the same time and let's use our fingers.
Narrator
Oh, God.
Darby
What?
Caden
Knife. God damn it.
Darby
Oh, man. What?
Narrator
Darby, tell him he's being stupid right now.
Darby
Stop it.
Caden
I don't know.
Darby
Stop it. We. Look, we have plenty of things to put in the bowl. We have to put. We have to put something in the bowl. Where's the whistle? We have to put something in the bowl. Yeah. Is that what he said? Yes. Something in words. If he's talking to you, he said that Caden's being stupid. Okay, so no blood. Let's draw it with our fingers. Okay. All right. There's four of us. Maybe we do it all at the same time. Let's do it all at the same time. So I'll go over here.
Caden
So you do here. Okay, I'll go here.
Darby
Okay, ready? One, two, three.
Narrator
Three. Jack Daniels is proudly served in fine establishments, questionable joints and everywhere in between. So no matter where you go in every bar, you'll always know someone by name.

Darby
Is he saying anything? No.
Narrator
Silence.
Darby
Oh my God.
Narrator
And you hear something. It's vague, but it's almost a chuckle. And you feel this weird warm sense of relief. At the same time, there's this imposing and very distinct emotion of that wasn't what I met, but oh God, if it wasn't beautiful. And that voice and feeling is cut off immediately as you Feel another presence bear down upon you. And you look ahead of you and see an inky black darkness begin to fold and lift around. And you can hear something imposing. And you three can see a congealed blackness forming around you as the shaman in your hut, in your mind, in your soul, in your being, cries, no. No, not now. This isn't time. I still have time. And you see this blackness incan form around as a giant shrouded figure comes up out of the earth and gazes with its eyeless face towards. And you see as crows cry off of the side of its shroud, as a blackened form wearing a dark veil is walking towards you.
Darby
The circle. Fill the circle in.
Narrator
Darby. This is close, but there's still something missing. There's one thing. This symbol. The intent, if not the original purpose of drawing it together, all of you with your hands, is good, but there's one detail missing. And you watch as the shroud gets closer to you, and you are asking over and over, what is it? What is it? What is this last piece? But you hear nothing. And all you hear is the sickening cries of a man in a beast, an animal in anguish as it cries and bathes and cries in terror. And you look as this darkness comes.
Darby
Blow the whistle.
Narrator
Five, ten. Kayden. You see a dark form leap over the top of you, over the side of the medicine wheel. And you see a beastial man with long, rakish claws and long, elongated horns coming on top of you. And you watch as he tackles the darkness. And they begin to fight and they wrestle, as you can see, inky blackness diving onto it. And this beast of a long creature just clawing and raking at it, crying a deep animal cry as it howls into this thing. Darby, there's one thing missing to finish this ritual. And it's in the tower. It's in the tower somewhere. And you have three minutes to get it before the goat man is consumed in the darkness. And all of you, you lose your lives, and this whole world is incompetent. You have to find it. It's in there somewhere, and it's the last piece of the puzzle. Go.
Darby
Oh, do we have to do this one at a time, or can we all go?
Narrator
You can all go. You can get in there. But whoever touches it last, it's in there.
Darby
Oh, my God.
Narrator
What does it say, Kaden? You still have time. You still need to do this.
Darby
Still the blood of. Of those at fault. Oh, my God.
Narrator
What is it, Darby?
Darby
What does it say? I'm at fault. I'm at fault, too. Go. Ah.
Narrator
All of you cut your hands as deep blood wells and fills the pool inside. And that's good. It's great. You can feel something. But there's one more. There's one more at fault. There's one more that needs to bleed. Time is running out as the goatman continues to fall and clash and rake.
Darby
I don't understand what that means.
Narrator
Darkness. And you hear it. No, we need Tanner as it tackles the darkness. He's already dead.
Darby
Is there any blood of his on the.
Caden
I empty the camera.
Narrator
No, you empty the camera. And you watch as the film spills everywhere and it rocks all about. And you watch as it hands in there and you jab the knife. But there's. That's not it. That's not it. There's still someone at fault here. And there's a last bit of it. Yes, it's true. All four of you.
Caden
Can I take some of Simon's blood? And I pat and I.
Narrator
You throw Simon's gore down on there.
Darby
Wait. Where's the shaman?
Narrator
He's fighting. He's fighting Agatha and the great darkness that's aside. And you can see her blackened form as the goat.
Darby
I run at the beast. I run at the beast.
Narrator
Make a pull.
Caden
Oh, no.
Darby
Yes. Careful. There's two coming out in the side.
Narrator
Please, please, please.
Caden
No, no, no, no, no.
Narrator
As you rush towards the goatman, you hear his bestial cries as he is in agony fighting this congealed form of pure blackness. As you hear a voice rise from the great abyss. You cannot stop me.
Darby
Okay? I lunge at the shaman and I stab at him, and I say, you did this. And I run my hand where there's blood, and I run back to the bowl and let some blood drip from my hand.
Narrator
As you reach your hand down out and drip a single drop of blood into the bowl, you feel a gust of air whoosh up in the middle of everything. And you feel this wind throw by you. And you can see the goat man, who is currently still entangled with this blackened form, lift himself up and.
Darby
As.
Narrator
The wind goes by him. And you watch as Agatha's blackened form starts to dissipate into smoke and ash as things come together. And you watch as the goat man's form first turns from skin to muscle to bone and then to nothing as the wind and the light purses through you, and you see nothing. The curse has been lifted. The mesa has been cleansed. Agatha and the goatman are no more. There is only ash and dust in front of you. As the sand and the symbols themselves are blown away in the scattered wind. And then there was only silence. And that is the end. Thus, we conclude this macabre story. For you see, hope dies, passion dies. People die. But stories, stories will always live on. Ghosts from the past that walk the world through words. There will always be another story. But for now, these were the sagas of Sundry. I am Mr. Wren, and you, my darlings, have lived through dread.

Release Date: August 4, 2025
Current Season: Ten Candles: Eclipse
In Chapter Six: Let the Bodies Hit the Floor from the Sagas of Sundry: Dread series, listeners are plunged deeper into a world of tragic horror and dark rituals. This episode marks a pivotal point in the narrative, where the protagonists grapple with their inner demons, external threats, and the looming presence of dark forces threatening their world.
The episode picks up with Darby performing a ritual to summon the Goatman, hoping to cleanse the land plagued by darkness. Initially skeptical, Darby observes that the Goatman, contrary to expectations, appears benevolent and provides crucial information about a tool needed to combat the evil infesting the land. The group sets out to locate this tool, leading them to a well hidden behind a Victorian mansion, where they uncover grim evidence of past sacrifices and decipher cryptic pictographs (00:57 - 02:45).
As the tension mounts, the group realizes the ritual's incomplete nature—missing pieces that tie the past, present, and future. Darby, burdened by guilt over Tanner's death, emphasizes the urgency and the need to protect the remaining members as they navigate through threats both supernatural and human (04:53 - 10:46).
Caden undergoes significant character development, transitioning from a self-serving individual to a protective figure dedicated to safeguarding his companions. His internal struggle and newfound sense of responsibility become evident as he contemplates the gravity of their mission and the sacrifices already made (09:07 - 11:12).
The climax of the episode unfolds as the group attempts to perform the final ritual atop a mesa. Amidst intense emotional turmoil and physical threats, including a relentless chainsaw-wielding antagonist named Simon, the protagonists confront their deepest fears and latent powers. The ritual's success hinges on their ability to channel their collective anguish and strength, culminating in a dramatic showdown against the embodiment of darkness, Agatha (32:05 - 37:27).
Ultimately, through sheer determination and unity, the group manages to lift the curse, cleanse the mesa, and dispel the dark forces threatening their world. The episode concludes with a poignant reflection on the transient nature of hope and the enduring power of stories to transcend mortality (37:27 - 39:18).
