Yeah, spicy. Okay, well, with all of that said, I think it's actually time. Oh yeah, it's time to part the veil of reality. And you guys, we're no longer just like friends, hanging out, playing a silly game, Loving each other, laughing alongside each other. No, we are friends. Up in the air in a cloud city known as the Wretched Cove. Among pirates who are also loving each other and laughing, loving each other.

And we're still friends. Yeah, we're still friends, but we're loving each other more than I even knew that we were going to be loving each other. But where we find ourselves is in Captain Ray Telg's chambers. And this Is a spot that is just decked out in everything soft curtains, velour, satin pillows, tassels. Anything you can think of that is soft. He's got it. A big circular pillow 10ft in diameter that he's just able to lounge on.

Or one of the champions? Yes, yes, that. Good catch, Captain. Yes. To answer your question, she is a sundare, and she is the sovereign of wisdom. And the sigil I think he's referring to is the eight pointed star. It's interesting. So you must. They're not yours. You don't.

Well, they're mine now. You know, possession is nine tenths of the law. No, originally, they belonged to some spellcaster that met an untimely end inside of Eunzug's lair. And, you know, dungeon dollars only get you so far. They don't really have robes on sale very often, but, you know, a gallatling fell into a pit. I fell into these robes, and they fit like a dream.

We looted the corpse.

And as you take off your robe to examine, like, see what she's talking about.

But as you take a look at those robes and the sigil itself, you do stiffen. Your eyes roll back in your head as you. Yep. Do it, Danielle. You know you want to. Oh, no. You experience a flashback.

[Jason Nguyen]

He's flashing back.

[Amy Vorpal]

Don't worry, you fibs are running. And this time, you're afraid. And what is going through your head is what has just happened. You were on a beautiful picnic with a lover, and you ventured really far into a beautiful forest that you knew was dangerous, and you paid the price. On the picnic, something overtook her and changed her, and you couldn't protect her. This is a flashback from before your adventuring days. This is well before you were running through the trees and loving life, and you could barely protect yourself. This is a younger version of yourself. And you notice that around your neck is a jade pendant in a square shape. And this was a piece of jewelry that both of you shared. She had one as well. And they changed her. Right before your eyes, she turned into something grotesque. Just like drooping eyes, a mouth, gaping mouth. Her bones and body shape just morphed all into this ghastly form. You weren't there because you were the romantic that you were, gathering flowers to make the picnic perfect. But you were too late when you saw what they had done to her, and you ran. And that is all you did. You promised yourself that you would not remember this, and you would just keep running and running and running. And you swore to yourself you would never stop running. And you snap back to reality.

So what's a flashback?

[Ify Wadiwe]

Sometimes we'll do this thing, and it's happened to, like, all of us, where we'll be looking at something and be like, oh, hey, like, here's a thing. And then all of a sudden, you just go, ugh. And, like, when they do that, you wind up seeing stuff inside your brain that, like, used to happen for us. It's like, stuff. Cause, you know, we're skeletons, so we don't really remember, like, our life before we were skeletons.

[Chab]

Of course.

[Ify Wadiwe]

So did you. How did you. How was your.

[Dan Casey]

It was horrible.

As you take off, you do kind of commune with the elemental that is guiding the ship. The circle of around it, and you zoom off.

And the elemental is where?

Again, kind of same thing. Like, anywhere, everywhere. Yeah. But, like, if you had a source of it, it would be in the lower stern cabin. She's having the time of her life.

Her name is Arsenium. She introduces herself to you. She's in charge of powering the ship. She doesn't have as much personality as, like, a palatius or anything like that, but she's loving life. This is what she was born.

Do I know what kind of elemental.

[Dan Casey]

Pretty generous description of Palatius.

[Amy Vorpal]

She technically is an air elemental, but you can tell that her element is air, and then the power that she's able to provide is more force than wind, if that makes sense. So there's no wind. It's just this energy. She's also partnered down in the stern of the cabin with another gemstone similar to the Heartcore in the Shield Guardian, which you can feel. Yeah. And it glows a blue, a deep, deep azure. And she is kind of wrapped around that gemstone as well. So there you go. You've got arsenium and azure stone and omnipresence around the ship, but that's only when you're really at the helm and communing with it. And Dupper's not gonna let you do that the whole time.

[Jason Nguyen]

As I'm in the pilot seat, I go, this technology is amazing. I can feel myself in. And I start falling asleep because it's just been such a long day.

[Amy Vorpal]

Yeah. Yeah. Okay, so really quickly, Duper takes the helm from you and urges you all to go down.

I'll take him to the cabins.

It's been real monster hours for many hours.

Fibs excuses himself and just goes to find sort of like a quiet corner where no one else is. And he puts his spellbook before him and unfurls the scroll of a movable object. And as he stares at it, he starts to think about everything that's happened today, and especially that flashback. And just a shudder ripples through his body as he thinks about the implication of everything he's done, or rather didn't do that day. And he looks at the scroll and sees a movable object and thinks, that's what I need to be. And he starts transcribing that spell into his spell book.

So this is gonna take both of you to do this? It actually takes three actions to load the cannon and then one action to fire it, but that can be done on similar terms. It is plus 6 to hit. When it does hit, it is 16d10 damage.

But his eyes and his mouth are just kind of holes in that palatius.

And it does look like it's starting to crack around there. His eyes and mouth are still intact, but that spot where you blasted it is just free. And as the magical force, like, pops it away. Cool. Tippy. Awesome. You actually aren't holding onto the helm just yet, right?

As Chab runs up, you see the wind has blown some rigging away, and it looks like it's violently swinging around, but no problem. Chab catches it. I mean, he's an old hat. And he almost launches himself off the ship to ride it back to the ballast where he can tie it, and just jumps down back to the deck. And Beryl rolls into where the helm is, and he gives the order to Dupper to renegotiate where the ship is pointing so the cannon's aligned correctly to fire right at Palatius. The other thing Palatius does after being hit by a bullet, he slams down on the deck trying to break where the helm is. Oh, yeah, it totally hits. You can see him just slamming on the helm. The wheel is taking damage. Nothing is rocked off of it, but he is targeting the helm itself. Dupper isn't hurt either. You can tell that the wind of Palatius is trying to disable the Ship. And he goes.

He's terrified of specifically Ronnie, his face, even though his prehensile air and clouds were slamming on the helm. You can see those prehensile clouds drifting back into where his face is and his eyes go wide and he goes.

98. Cannon damage. This is bludgeoning damage. It actually does take half damage, but it does not take zero damage. So you know how your pistol, tippy, when you shot it, just opened up a view to the blue sky beyond it. This cannon wipes out an entire wall of the tornado, and the whirlwind is reduced to wisps. But you can see the entire landscape and horizon in that area, all starboard. All you would have to do is zoom past it. He is severely, severely weakened. You hear him go, oh, no, maybe punch through.

And he's just, like, whimpering and whining and there's no problem at this point, Dupper is. Well, there is a problem. Dupper goes to double the speed. Palacius is no longer doing weird stuff to the ship. But as he goes to double the speed, he says, arsenius needs some cajoling or something. We can't get speed.

[Jason Nguyen]

I'm on it. How do I commune with Arsenius? Where do I need to go to do that?

[Dan Casey]

The helm.

[Amy Vorpal]

The helm would be fine, except Dupper's on the helm. So I would say, you know, that it's kind of in the proverbial engine room. So it's the back bottom of the ship, busy.

[Jason Nguyen]

Your first mate, you're the captain now. I run down to the engine room.

[Amy Vorpal]

Okay. So you just pass on the captain's ship to busy real quick, no problem. And, yeah, you're down with Arsenius. What you see is this glass structure in a cylinder. Arsenius is just air. She's more beautiful than Palatius. She's more like cumulus clouds, more like cotton candy.

[Jason Nguyen]

I put a hand on the glass and I go, arsidius, there's a time and a place to be stormy. But just like a buff, beautiful captain once said to me, you have to learn to control your emotions.

[Amy Vorpal]

Will you make either a nature check or a persuasion check?

[Jason Nguyen]

The ship powers through the gap that the cannon made. You are completely free of Palatius as you zoom on and he follows in a tiny little cyclone behind you, just going, wait, wait.

Con number two, we're copying. Wait, I can be better. Hold on, hold on. Wait, I'm still here. I'm still. Wait, guys, guys.

And you are free and clear and free sailing as you. You cross over land. And when you look down below, you're zooming over land and you encounter and see a big blue open sea. And Dupper goes, we're going to be landing on an island here in a bit. And then it's on to the Ern Kerfathom. I've only heard of two ways down on this island. There's a portal, and the other way is just succumbing to a whirlpool. So I chose the island.

[Jason Nguyen]

Yeah, that's a good.

[Ify Wadiwe]

Yeah, it feels good to me.

[Dan Casey]

Yeah, I usually prefer not to succumb.

[Amy Vorpal]

All right, so he gives you a lesson on landing and you land on kind of a glorified sandbar. It is an island, but by all rights, it looks like it could be easily covered up with the tide. As you disembark, you walk out and see a really big pool, like a 20 foot diameter puddle that swirls with blue and purple energy.

[Jason Nguyen]

I'm guessing that's the portal.

[Amy Vorpal]

Yeah, it looks like a portal to me. I don't know if I should be coming with y'all or if I should stay here and wait for you to come back.

[Dan Casey]

Why don't you stay with the ship?

[Jason Nguyen]

Yeah, no, we did have two darving suits, so.

You'd be able to do the math that this portal was completely natural and magic made. But you also know that the Sundari seemed to be natural and magic as well. The last thing that you can discern is this portal is a first step. It's like a beginning in the sense that if you imagine all the planes of existence stacked on top of each other, that this portal would be a spire going through all of them and getting down to the earned curve. Fathom would be still on the material plane, but just going deeper. Almost like a quick jaunting elevator ride. Going to floor number one, floor number two, floor number three. But taking this step would be step number one. Going from floor number one to floor number two, basically.

[Jason Nguyen]

Okay, so there might be other portals that we need to drop down.

[Amy Vorpal]

Yeah, you're not just going to drop it, go all the way down, but this area is packed with this additional form of Sundari magic. Do you don the diving suit?

[Jason Nguyen]
