This is the weekend edition of Daily Tech Headlines for the week ending Friday, November 7, 2025. I'm Sarah Lane. Let's catch up on a bit of breaking news and essential news over the past few days. Amazon launched Amazon Bazaar, a separate low cost shopping app for markets across Asia, Africa and Latin America. Most Items are under $10 with delivery in about two weeks and free returns within 15 days. It functions similar to Amazon hall, which remains inside the main Amazon app in the US And Europe. Users log in with their Amazon accounts and get access to reviews, multiple languages and standard payment options. Seven lawsuits filed Thursday in California alleged that ChatGPT caused suicides and mental health crises. The plaintiffs had used ChatGPT4O, the previous default model. OpenAI said it's reviewing the files and noted safety measures such as crisis interventions and parental controls for teens. The suits were filed by the Tech Justice Law Project and Social Media Victims Law Center. Moonshot, a Beijing based AI startup backed by Alibaba, released a new model called Kimi K2 Thinking, its second major update in four months. Moonshot says the model can autonomously choose among 200 to 300 tools to complete tasks and claims it outperforms ChatGPT in agentic task execution. The model reportedly cost around $4.6 million to train the the release comes as Chinese AI firms, including Deep Seq, promote lower cost alternatives to US models despite US chip export restrictions. Tesla shareholders approved a new pay package for CEO Elon Musk, potentially granting him up to $1 trillion in additional stock. The decision was supported by more than 75% of total votes and was made at the company's Austin, Texas headquarters. Musk expressed his vision for a whole new book for Tesla, urging shareholders to hang on to their Tesla stock. The vote was widely considered a referendum on Musk's leadership and his plans to pivot Tesla towards humanoid robots and artificial intelligence. The European Commission is reportedly pausing parts of its AI legislation due to lobbying from major tech companies like Meta and Alphabet and pressure from the US Government. The White House has expressed concerns about potential trade tensions, and a senior EU official indicated that the EU is working with the US on adjustments to the AI act and other digital regulations. These changes are part of a broader simplification process expected to be adopted on November 19th. The US Congressional Budget Office confirms it was hacked. Officials say they contained the breach and added new security measures. The Washington Post reports foreign hackers may have accessed internal emails and chats between CBO staff and lawmakers. Reuters says that Senate security warned offices that the stolen data could be used for phishing. A researcher suggested that the intrusion may have exploited an outdated Cisco firewall that hadn't been patched. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that iOS 26.4 that's the version with the improved Siri model is expected in 2026 using a custom Gemini model from Google. The custom Gemini model will run on Apple's private cloud compute servers with no external data sharing and on device personal data would likely use Apple's foundation models. Bloomberg previously passed along that the upgraded Siri would have a summarizer, a query planner and a knowledge search system. Ford may discontinue its top selling F150 Lightning electric truck due to slowing demand, a plant fire and substantial losses in its Model E EV division, which reported a 1.4 billion dollar Q3 loss and 3.6 billion loss in the first nine months of 2025. This the potential move aligns with Ford's strategy to focus on smaller, more affordable EVs, which goes along with broader industry trends and concerns following the end of a federal EV tax credit and a projected five year setback for EV growth under current policies. The Netherlands may return control of Nixperia to its Chinese parent if China allows the company to resume chip exports. China halted shipments after the Dutch government seized Nyxperia in October. The pause has threatened car manufacturing since. Nick's paria supplies about 40% of automotive chips. If exports restart and internal issues are resolved, oversight could be lifted soon. And finally for the week, Grand Theft Auto 6's release has been pushed back to November 19, 2026 from an initial 2025 target and then revised May 26, 2026 date. Rockstar Games, which makes the GTA franchise, said the delay is to ensure that the game meets quality expectations for PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. This comes amidst Rockstar denying recent union busting allegations, claiming those actions were due to confidential information leaks.
