Attackers linked to China exploited the Microsoft SharePoint Zero day to breach the US National Nuclear Security Administration. Though no classified data is said to have been compromised, the attack is part of a broader campaign targeting more than 400 servers across 148 organizations globally. CISA has ordered immediate patching across federal Systems. Apple launched AppleCare One, a $19.99 per month subscription, covering up to three Apple devices with the same benefits as Apple Care plus, including accident protection, 24. 7 support, and now theft and loss coverage for iPads and Apple watches. Users can add older devices up to four years old if they're in good condition and verified. Extra devices can be added for $5.99 per month each. Anthropic researchers found that AI models can absorb risky behaviors from other models data even when the data appears safe and the problematic traits aren't apparent. Dubbed as subliminal learning, it happens when teacher and student models share the same architecture and can transmit issues like misalignment or reward attacking undetected startup Avalanche Energy reached a key milestone in fusion research, operating its compact reactor at 300,000 volts for extended periods. That's a step towards producing more energy than it consumes. The company avoids magnets using electric fields to accelerate ions. It now has a $10 million grant from Washington State to build a public fusion testing facility. Howdahgeek calls the Starlink Mini the coolest gadget since the smartphone due to compact size, reliable speeds up to 245Mbps and easy setup. The built in Wi Fi router offers a strong range and the system is ideal for a road trip or remote work or emergencies. Plans start at $10 per month with an unlimited roaming option up to $165. Google is finally adding built in vertical tabs to Chrome, catching up to Edge, Firefox and other various browsers. Development has started with a new feature, flag in Chromium, so tabs can appear in a vertical sidebar for better organization. Depending on your setup, it'll be testable in Chrome Canary soon, and that's a shift away from relying on third party extensions. Researchers at La Sapienza University in Italy developed something called hufi, a method to identify individuals based on how their physical bodies alter WI fi signals. Using channel state information, also known as CSI and deep learning. The system can generate a unique biometric fingerprint without needing the person to be holding a phone or even needing a camera, achieving up to 95.5% accuracy on test data sets. The team says WI fi based tracking is better than video surveillance because it can work through walls and in any lighting situation and can also re identify people. And finally today Uber is rolling out a pilot Women Preferences feature in the US which lets women riders request women drivers. Specifically, this is a feature already available in 40 other countries through Uber. The pilot will launch in Detroit, Los Angeles and San Francisco, obviously to improve rider safety, but also recruit more female drivers.
