Due to a failure in renewing a streaming contract, content from The Walt Disney Company, including channels like ABC and ESPN, was removed from Google's YouTube TV on Thursday. YouTube TV stated that despite their best efforts, a fair deal could not be reached, resulting in removal of over 20 channels and Disney content recordings. The existing distribution agreement between the two Companies expired on October 30th at 11:59pm Eastern Time, after which the content became unavailable. Apple plans to integrate more third party AI tools into its operating systems, with CEO Tim Cook confirming ongoing efforts and future partnerships. ChatGPT is already integrated with Siri and Google Gemini is reportedly next, with rumored collaborations with Anthropic and Perplexity. This strategy aligns with previous statements from Apple Software SVP Craig Federighi. Cook also stated that an upgraded Siri is expected next year and Apple is open to mergers and acquisitions to advance its AI initiatives. Netflix is reportedly exploring an acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery's studio and streaming business, having engaged investment Bank Moralis & Co. As financial advisor Molis & Co. Previously advised. Skydance Media on a successful bid for Paramount Global. Netflix has also been granted access to a data room which contains critical financial details necessary for formulating a bid, according to multiple sources familiar with the ongoing matter. In other Netflix news, the company announced a 10 for 1 stock split on Thursday, making individual shares more accessible to retail investors and employees. Existing shareholders as of November 10th will receive nine additional shares for each one they hold on November 14th, with the stock trading at the new post split price on Monday, November 17. The streaming leader's shares have boomed over the last three years to above $1,000 apiece, prompting the company to reset the market price of the company's common stock to a range that will be more accessible. Kroger and Uber are partnering to offer restaurant delivery to Kroger's online grocery shoppers and grocery delivery to Uber customers. This collaboration allows both companies to expand their customer base and services without costly mergers. Uber will integrate restaurants into Kroger's platforms, offering perks to Kroger's paid members. Conversely, Uber customers will gain access to grocery delivery from over 2,600 Kroger stores, boosting Uber's grocery selection against competitors like DoorDash, which already partners with Kroger. This strategy aims to increase order volumes and customer loyalty for both brands. Samsung has announced a partnership with Nvidia to construct an AI megafactory designed to accelerate its semiconductor manufacturing. This new facility will integrate over 50,000 of Nvidia's advanced GPUs to embed artificial intelligence across the entire chip manufacturing process. Furthermore, Samsung plans to utilize AI chip in development and design, aiming to produce a new generation of semiconductors, mobile devices and robotics with advanced AI capabilities. Canva has also introduced new products and features, enhanced its AI assistant and enabled the integration of its spreadsheet tool with its app building feature to generate dynamic data visualization widgets. OpenAI is now monetizing its Soar AI video generation tool by selling credits for $4 per 10 video generations via Apple's App Store and plans to decrease the currently daily limit of free generations. This move, according to SOAR head Bill Peebles, is to manage growth and secure GPU resources. OpenAI also intends to allow rights holders to license their copyrighted material for Cameos and AI generated videos, despite an ongoing trademark infringement lawsuit from Cameo. This monetization strategy is part of a series of controvers actions related to sora. Threads is rapidly rolling out new features, including community creation and ghost posts. On Thursday, the social networking app introduced Reply Approvals, a new tool that gives users more control over their conversations by allowing them to pre screen replies before they become visible to others. This feature offers a way to maintain open discussions without derailing negative interactions, building upon existing tools that limit replies to followers or mention users. And finally, WhatsApp is reportedly introducing an Apple Watch app as discovered by WA betainfo, to enhance how users manage notifications on their smartwatches. While not a standalone application, it significantly improves functionality by offering essential messaging features like chat browsing, quick replies and emoji reactions directly on the watch with automatic syncing between the iPhone and Apple Watch. Although there is no official release date or comment from Meta, this development aims to provide more robust native support for Apple Watch users.
