Not every sale happens at the register before AT&T business wireless checking out customers on our mobile POS systems took too long. Basically a staring contest where everyone loses. It's crazy what people will say during an awkward silence. Now transactions are done before the silence takes hold. That means I can focus on the task at hand and make an extra sale or two. Sometimes I do miss the bonding time. Sometimes.

Let's catch up on a bit of breaking news and essential news over the past several days. Meta struck three nuclear power deals to supply data centers as AI power demand rises, Vistra will sell 2.1 gigawatts from existing Ohio reactors and add 433 megawatts through upgrades in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Small modular reactor or SMR startups Oklo and TerraPower with will provide 1.2 gigawatts and 690 megawatts respectively, with potential options for another 2.8 gigawatts from TerraPower. Oclo targets 2030 for delivery. TerraPower 2032 SMR costs are unproven and Vistra's supply is expected to be cheaper. Amazon won local approval to open a 229,000 square foot megastore in Orland Park, Illinois. That's near Chicago, which is which is even larger than the average Walmart Super Center. The store will combine groceries, merchandise services, prepared foods and on site pickup for online orders. This expands Amazon's physical retail presence beyond its smaller Fresh Go and Whole Foods locations. The company is also testing a one hour rush pickup service and fulfillment only stores promising 30 minute delivery in parts of Seattle and Philadelphia. Indonesia temporarily blocked access to X's Grok chatbot over concerns about AI generated sexualized images, including deepfake content involving minors. Officials cited non consensual sexual deepfakes as a human rights issue and summoned X representatives in the U.S. senators Ron Wyden, Ben Ray Lujan and Ed Markey have asked both Apple and Google to remove Grok from their app stores on the grounds that these deepfakes violate app store policies, the senators say keeping the app goes against both companies arguments for tight store control, noting prior removals of Ice Block and Red Dot after government pressure. On Friday, X partially restricted Grok's image generation function using the Rock Reply to Pain subscribers. But all X users can still access Grok's image creation and editing tools through the Edit Image button, the standalone Grok website and the app. Lego opened pre orders for its first Smart Play Star wars sets featuring the new Smart Brick, which adds lights, sounds and character recognition using NFC. Three sets ship March 1, 2026, priced at 70, 90 and $160 each, bundling smart bricks, smart tags, smart minifigs and a wireless charger. The smart brick itself isn't programmable but can receive updates through an app. Bose reversed plans to brick its 10 year old SoundTouch Wi Fi speakers after customer backlash. Cloud services are still shutting down, but that deadline is now pushed to May 6, and an app update will keep local features like streaming from apps, setup, remote controls, grouping, airplay and Spotify Connect, working over WI Fi or AUX presets in app service. Browsing and security updates are going to stop, but Bose is also open sourcing SoundTouch software and publishing developer APIs so third parties can extend support. Tuesday, Universal Music Group announced a partnership with Nvidia to pioneer responsible AI for music discovery, creation and engagement. Those are their words and for advancing human music creation and rights holder compensation, which includes identifying copyrighted works used in AI. The partnership will collaborate on Nvidia's Music Flamingo AI model, which launched in November and analyzes music with metrics like structure, harmony, lyrics and and elements of music theory. Although Dolby announced Dolby Vision 2 well before CES, the show was essentially its big coming out party. DV2 is the company's next gen image engine that boosts brightness in dark scenes, adapts to ambient light, improves color using new tone mapping and adds what it calls authentic motion smoothing. It has initial TV support this year from hisense with the RGB Mini LED TV for from TCL with the XQD Mini LED and C series through an update and TP Vision's Philips OLED models. Peacock is the first streamer committing to Dolby Vision 2 for live sports, with broader TV and service support expected later in the year. OpenAI and Kids Safety group Common Sense Media have partnered to consolidate on competing California ballot measures to regulate kids use of AI chatbots, which among other things avoids a costly ballot fight. A draft agreement would require age checks, data sale limits, parental controls, audits and a ban on targeted ads to minors, but stop short of banning chatbots for kids. The state attorney general would enforce penalties. The deal could begin signature gathering as soon as next week. Hyundai announced plans to start using Boston Dynamics Humanoid Atlas robots at its Savannah, Georgia plants starting in 2028. The robots are set to arrange components pre installation, ramping up for more complex tasks by 2030. Google is also partnering with Boston Dynamics to integrate Gemini with testing to begin in the coming months. Hyundai expects to construct as many as 30,000 robots annually at a new facility in the U.S. polymarket will be the Golden Globe Award Show's exclusive prediction market partner, providing real time odds and stats for major categories during Sunday's CBS telecast and at the official viewing party.
