These are the daily tech headlines for Monday, September 29, 2025. Hi, I'm Jen Kutter. Electronic Arts, the video game company responsible for series like Madden, FIFA and the Sims, officially announced Monday the agreement to be acquired by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, Silverlake and Affinity Partners. The all cash deal is worth approximately $55 billion and shareholders of the company will receive $210 per share. On Saturday, the UK government backed a 1.5 billion pounds loan guarantee for Jaguar Land Rover in order to provide certainty for suppliers. Jaguar Land Rover had to suspend production September 1st as a result of a hack with workers told to stay home without any announced return date, BBC reports. This is believed to be the first time a company received government help due to a cyber attack. The BBC also reports on Monday that Jaguar Land Rover will resume some production in the coming days, with industry sources expecting it to take several weeks before the lines are running at full capacity. Business Insider obtained Meta's updated guidelines for its AI chatbots, attempting to handle age inappropriate conversations with minors, as well as to more effectively address possible child sexual exploitation. Examples of an unacceptable conversation include content that simulates a romantic relationship between AI and the user, including romantic roleplay, flirtation or expression, as well as any advice relating to potentially romantic or potentially intimate physical contact with another person, such as holding hands, hugging or putting an arm around someone. The European Commission is investigating potential anti competitive practices over how enterprise software company SAP. SAP handles aftermarket services. SAP provides enterprise resource planning solutions integrating logistics, supply chain finance and hr, and the investigation will include examining the practice requiring customers to buy the same type of support for all SAP on premises ERP software preventing mix and match with other providers Social media Network X will appeal an Indian court order to comply with takedown requests without due process. The order allows police to quote issue arbitrary takedown orders through a secretive online portal. X previously challenged the Indian government over blocking specific posts and accounts in 2022 and 2024, and Indian officials had also threatened to jail employees back in 2021 over the company's reversal of a decision to block specific accounts. Instagram is testing a Reels first UI in India and South Korea with which displays the Reels page as the primary in the app. The redesign, which is similar to the iPad app launched earlier this month, is currently being tested with a limited user pool before rolling out globally. Snap added a 5 gig storage limit for the Memories feature, which is an in app archive for users to save previously disappearing photos and videos, and it will offer paid storage for users over that Limit. The introductory 100 gig storage plan is $199 a month, while Snapchat plus subscribers at $3.99 a month receive 250 gigs, and Platinum subscribers will get 5 TB included with their $15.99 monthly cost. And Microsoft launched a new Agent mode in Excel and Word to generate spreadsheets and documents with a prompt. Corporate vice president of Microsoft's Office product group, Sumit Chauhan, says, we're bringing vibe working to Microsoft 365 copilot with Agent Mode in Office Apps and Office Agent in Copilot Chat, the Verge's Tom Warren notes. Microsoft says Excel Agent Mode has an accuracy rate of 57.2% in spreadsheet bench above ChatGPT's agent as well as Claude's files opus 4.1, though remaining behind human accuracy of 71.3%.
