The Financial Times sources say that Nvidia and AMD have agreed to give the US government 15% of revenues from certain chip sales in China to secure export licenses, with Nvidia's cut applying to its H20AI chips and AMD's to its Mi308 chips. This follows the President's reversal of an earlier export ban. Some critics warn the move will help China's military AI capabilities. OpenAI is restoring older models, including GPT4O, after backlash to last week's GPT5 rollout that removed users ability to choose between different models for different tasks. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman confirmed the change on X, adding that the company would be offering up to 3,000 reasoning requests per week for paying subscribers, with more transparency on which model is responding. GPT5 will stay as the default, but users can re enable legacy models in their settings after weather delays. Amazon launched 24 Kuiper Internet satellites Monday aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9, bringing its total constellation to 102. This is Amazon's fourth Kuiper launch and part of its push to meet an FCC requirement to have around 1,600 satellites in orbit. The by July of 2026. Amazon plans up to 83 launches to meet that and hopes to begin commercial service later this year. It has some catching up to do to compete with SpaceX's Starlink, which has around 8,000 satellites and 5 million customers. ESPN and Fox will launch a $40 per month bundle on October 2, combining their new streaming services, which debut on August 21. Fox One is $20 and will carry sports news and entertainment from its broadcast and cable networks. ESPN's $30 service has its linear channels, ESPN and expanded NFL content. This is the first major sports streaming bundle from separate rights holders. The latest matter standard update 1.4.2 supports Wi Fi only commissioning, which should cut costs for HomeKit compatible devices, but by allowing WI Fi only setup, removing the need for Bluetooth. As a reminder, the Matter Standard lets any compatible device automatically be compatible with not only HomeKit but Google Home, Alexa and Samsung SmartThings. The update also adds time based behavior for smoother scene control, quieter reporting to improve battery life and responsiveness, security upgrades and standardized commands for robot vacuums. YouTube channel Tech it tested the durability of Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7, folding and unfolding it 200,000 times. This was part of a days long live stream and showed the phone rebooting every six to 10,000 folds. By 75,000 folds, a black liquid started leaking from the hinge at 175,000 folds. The speaker stopped working after 200,000 folds. The folding mechanism itself was still smooth and it could still hold its position at any angle. GitHub CEO Thomas Domke announced Monday he will step down to return to the startup. Founder Life Axios reports that Microsoft will restructure GitHub's leadership rather than appointing a direct CEO replacement, with Microsoft developer division head Julia Lewison overseeing GitHub's revenue engineering and support operations and Chief Product Officer Mario Rodriguez reporting to Microsoft AI Platform VP Asha Sharma. And finally today, to make Astronaut Healthcare independent of Earth, NASA is collaborating with Google on the Crew Medical Officer Digital Assistant. This will run on Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform. The CMODA will be used to diagnose and treat patients with when no doctor is available and communication with Earth is unavailable on longer duration missions.
