Google is poised to release a major update to Chrome, integrating Gemini infused AI across the browser to enhance user experience, search capabilities and security. New features will include a desktop Gemini button for content summaries, system level integration on Android with upcoming iOS support, AI mode in the Omnibar and ask about this page functionality with AI overviews. The AI will also improve security by detecting scams and automatically changing compromised passwords. Future plans include Agentic control enabling Chrome to complete tasks for users, though the effectiveness, speed and cost of this advanced feature are still uncertain. In other Google news, the company is rolling out a new feature that allows all Gemini users to share their custom AI assistants called Gemini Gems with others. Previously a feature for Gemini Advanced subscribers, Gems enable users to create AI chatbots for specific tasks. This sharing functionality, similar to Google Drive file sharing, is designed for collaborative projects and allows users to control access permissions. Hyundai CEO Jose Muniz distanced the company from an ICE raid at the LG Energy Solutions battery factory in Georgia, where most arrested workers were employed by suppliers, not Hyundai. Muniz expressed surprise at the raid, noting incorrect media photos and advocated for new Visa categories for highly skilled foreign workers due to lack of specialized factory expertise in the US These comments come amid metaplant construction delays and fears that the raid could deter foreign investment and target the EV industry. Uber is re entering the drone delivery market through a partnership with Flytrex and aiming to test Uber Eats deliveries in certain US markets by the end of the year. This marks Uber's renewed focus on advanced delivery technologies, bolstered by a more favorable regulatory landscape and the success of other drone delivery companies. For a long time, Samsung phones have used a three button navigation system with the back button on the right and the Recents button on the left. Google Pixel phones, however, default to gesture navigation but also offer a three button option placing the back button on the left, which is the traditional Android layout. This difference has been a an issue for Samsung users switching to Pixel as they have had to adapt their muscle memory or switch to gesture navigation since there hasn't been a way to change the button order on Pixels. Happily, Google is now introducing an option to reverse the buttons in the navigation bar. Notion has entered a new era of AI with the launch of Notion Agent. Rolling out as part of notion 3.0, this new teammate and Notion super user can perform human like actions including building pages and databases, searching for information across various tools and autonomously completing up to 2020 minutes of work. Agents can also remember user preferences for content referencing and filing with personalized profiles available now and fully customized agents planned for the future. Chinese AI developer Deepseek recently revealed that the training costs for its R1 model were significantly lower at $294,000 compared to its US competitors, a figure disclosed in a Nature Journal article on Wednesday. This rare update from the Hangzhou based company, the first estimate of R1's training expenses, reignites discussions about China's position in the AI development race. DeepSeek's earlier release of these seemingly lower cost AI systems in January had already caused global investors to sell off tech stocks due to concerns that these new models could challenge the market dominance of AI leaders like Nvidia. And finally, Fortnite is changing its revenue model to allow creators to sell in game items and earn a share of V bucks. Moving away from a system based only on user engagement time, Epic plans to give developers 100% of revenue from December 2025 through 2026, then and afterward after platform fees. This means developers will get about 74% and 37% of retail spending, respectively. Developers will also get new tools for item creation, community engagement and paid promotion as Epic aims to transform Fortnite into a platform for various games and social experiences similar to Roblox.
