On Monday, Nvidia announced a new coalition called the Open Secure AI alliance with over 30 inaugural partners including IBM, Cisco, Microsoft, Dell Technologies, Palantir, Hugging Face, OpenClaw, Salesforce, Adobe, Cloudflare and SAP, among others. Nvidia's announcement says the Open Secure AI Alliance's mission is to ensure defenders everywhere have open frontier tools they can trust and control. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports Apple pushed back the launch of the company's first smart glasses from the early 2027 target to debuting at June's Worldwide Developers Conference, with the glasses made available to the public by the end of 2027. The delay is reportedly concerning the current image of smart glasses being seen as colloquially pervert glasses. Gurman says Apple is expected to publicly emphasize features like on device processing and the absence of facial recog. Mark Gurman's newsletter Power on also notes Apple is in late stage testing of WI fi and cellular versions of the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. Though a new Apple Watch SE model is not currently planned for 2027. There is no major design overhaul expected with these models, with Apple focusing more on improvements to health and fitness tracking in an exclusive, the Wall Street Journal's sources claim Nvidia is in talks to provide an approximately $250 billion backstop for OpenAI for a data center project. The sources say the backing allows OpenAI to lease a 10 gigawatt project being developed in Ohio with SoftBank's energy subsidiary. The Wall Street Journal notes OpenAI has no investment grade credit rating as an unprofitable private company and that Nvidia's backstop would enable the company to negotiate more favorable terms. On Monday, China's Ministry of Commerce stated the country would take all necessary measures if the US Government continues to allege Chinese AI companies used American models for training. The statement recommends a halt to sanction threats as part of a smear campaign. The Ministry of Commerce statement also alleges American AI companies have distilled Chinese models and though did not name any specific examples. Roku confirmed the previously expected device price hikes to Engadget, with the Roku Ultra now costing $150, up from 100. The Streaming Stick 4K rose from $50 to $80, the Streaming Stick plus went from $40 to $60 and the basic Roku Stick's price increased from 30 to $40. A Roku representative told the desk the price jump was a tough decision made to address shortages in memory and other components. 9to5Google spoke with Google's Vice President of Devices and Services, Shankil Barkat about the higher Pixel 11 prices due to supply realities. Barkat referenced a Morgan Stanley report showing 1 gigabyte of RAM jumped from $2.80 in 2025 to to $12 in 2026. Barcat also mentioned there is a dedicated effort to lower memory requirements in Android while maintaining a great user experience. The base Pixel 11 is expected to launch at $899, $100 more than the $799 Pixel 10 launch TechCrunch exclusively reports Snapchat added a now playing feature in Snapmap and to share what a user is listening to in real time. After linking a Spotify account, users can choose who can view listening activity, which can also be paused for 3 hours, 24 hours or indefinitely. The feature is rolling out across regions with both Snapchat and Spotify availability, with Canada coming soon. Snapmap has more than 450 million monthly users and the Register Passing along a Vulnerability Disclosure from Bob to Hacker reports the Click to Pray app, which was launched by Pope Francis back in 2019, had been leaking users names and emails for months. The app and website have nearly 720,000 registered accounts as of July 2026. Bob the hacker first contacted 9Click2Pray affiliated email addresses six months ago, but received no response as of July 24th. Following some press about the lack of communication about the vulnerability, it has now been patched. There's still no official statement about the issue and no response to the disclosing party. As Bobdahacker first found out, it was fixed thanks to a Reddit comment in the initial public disclosure notice. Bob the Hacker asks Click to Pray for a way to give researchers a way to reach you that doesn't involve literally praying for a response.
