Bloomberg sources say that Samsung is close to investing in AI search startup Product Perplexity, planning to integrate its tech into future Galaxy devices, including pre installing its app and enhancing Bixby with Perplexity's features. The partnership could be announced later this year. Elon Musk announced Sunday that X Chat, a revamped version of X's dms, is rolling out this week with support for encrypted messages, vanishing chats, file sharing and audio video calls with without needing to attach a phone number. The system is reportedly built on Rust with what they're calling Bitcoin style encryption, though Bitcoin isn't exactly encrypted. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman also reports in his Power on newsletter that Apple will unveil the next Mac OS named Lake Tahoe at WWDC on June 9, continuing the tradition of using California landmarks for OS names. The version number will also reportedly jump to Mac OS 26 to align with the release year across all platforms, plus a major UI overhaul and new gaming and health features. Rest of World reports that Chinese companies are rapidly developing AI agents, with startups like Butterfly Effect and Zipu claiming performance gains over OpenAI's deep research. Tech giants Alibaba and ByteDance are also deploying agents powered by in house models, though some experts say product quality varies and China still trails in business digitization. Last week, Automattic said it's resuming contributions to WordPress with version 6.9, including an admin refresh and new AI features. The move comes after some recent layoffs and ongoing legal battles with WP engine, which Automattic says exploits WordPress without contributing. The Wall Street Journal sources say Meta plans to fully automate ad creation using AI by 2026, letting brands generate complete campaigns with visuals, video and copy by uploading product images and setting budget goals. The system will reportedly also offer real time personalization and audience targeting across Instagram and Facebook. Meta says early results from generative tools have been promising. Windows Central sources say Microsoft has paused development on its own first party Xbox handheld to to focus on optimizing Windows 11 for third party gaming. Handhelds like Asus's Project Canon, which is still on track for release later this year, internal resources are being redirected to address competition from SteamOS. Development on the next gen Xbox Console and new Xbox Cloud system continues as well. And finally today, Google's Gemini AI will now automatically summarize long emails in Gmail, using summary cards at the top of messages without user interaction. The feature is meant to update in real time as a long thread continues to evolve. We all have those long emails, but only rolling out now for emails in English. Users can also manually request summaries and settings can be adjusted in Gmail or disabled by workplace admins.
