The U.S. president is preparing executive actions to increase energy supply for the US Expansion of artificial intelligence, as the technological arms race between the US And China demands a rapid increase in power. These actions may include simplifying grid connections for power projects and offering federal land for data centers. The administration also plans to release an AI action plan and host public events to highlight these efforts. Threads now offers independent word blocking, allowing users to customize filters for words, phrases and emojis with optional time limits. The update provides more control over content seen on threads, unlike the previous shared Instagram settings. A temporary 30 day snooze option for unwanted words is also included, a feature similar to competitor platforms like X. Starting Saturday, China's aviation regulator will prohibit passengers from carrying power banks on flights unless they bear the 3C China compulsory certification. Safety marking this new regulation also extends to power banks that have been recalled by manufacturers due to safety issues. The decision by China's Civil Aviation Administration comes in response to a series of global incidents involving the overheating of lithium battery products, including power banks on aircraft. The 3C certification is mandatory for products in China that could pose risk to health, safety and environmental protection. Apple updated App store guidelines in the EU for digital markets at compliance, allowing developers more flexibility in promotions and external links. Developers can now promote across all channels, use multiple track links and customize link interfaces. Users will see a disclosure sheet only on their first external link tap with an opt out option. These changes are effective immediately for EU developers. Apple also announced new business terms for EU apps, including an initial acquisition fee, a tiered store services fee and a core technology commission for alternative payments. Apple plans a unified business model by January 1, 2026, replacing the core technology fee with the core commission. The team behind the AI recommendation startup Crossing Minds, which raised over $13.5 million, is joining OpenAI, known for improving e commerce personalization while prioritizing privacy. Its co founders are excited to contribute to OpenAI's mission, while co founder Alexander Robike has updated his LinkedIn. It's unclear if the entire team will transition. Crossing Minds, which previously worked with Intuit and Chanel, is no longer accepting new clients, German official Mike Camp reported. Chinese AI app Deepseek to Apple and Google, citing illegal user data transfer to China and non compliance with EU data protection laws. Deepseek failed to prove sufficient data protection, raising concerns about Chinese authorities access to personal data. Camp's office had previously demanded compliance or removal from Germany, which Deepseek ignored. Italy had already banned Deepseek for similar reasons. EU consumer privacy advocates note deepsea's Chinese base and its privacy policy stating user data storage in China, according to internal ICE emails reviewed by 404 Media. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is now deploying a new mobile phone application which allows agents to identify individuals in the field using either fingerprints or facial recognition simply by pointing a smartphone camera at them. The facial recognition technology embedded in the app is typically utilized at U.S. points of entry and exit, but is now being employed domestically by ICE for identification purposes. A Japanese court has banned Google from selling Pixel 7 series smartphones in Japan, ruling the company infringed on signal mapping patent is held by Pantech. This patent is crucial for 4G communication standards. The judge cited Google's insincere attitude during the dispute as a reason for the sales ban, which prohibits the sale, display, transfer or import of Pixel 7 series products in Japan. Pantech is also seeking sales bans on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series, though it is unclear whether those efforts will be successful. And finally, Google has launched doppel, an experimental AI powered app now available on iOS and Android in the US which allows users to virtually try on outfits. Users upload a full body photo and then select images of outfits to see how they would look on a digital version of themselves. Doppel can even convert these static images into AI generated videos to provide a more realistic sense of the outfit. This new standalone app expands upon Google Shopping's existing virtual try on features by allowing users to try on clothes on an animated version of Body. With Google stating it's a Google Labs experiment in its early stages, that may not always be accurate.
