These are the daily tech headlines for Wednesday, March 11, 2026. I'm Sarah Lane. TikTok and Apple Music are launching a feature called Playful Song that lets Apple Music subscribers stream full tracks within TikTok without leaving the app. The button will appear on the for you page and Sound Detail pages, and users can save tracks to their Apple Music libraries or playlists. The companies are also introducing Listening Party, where fans can listen to music together and chat in real time. Google has completed its $32 billion acquisition of Cloud security startup Wiz, the largest deal in the company's history. Wiz will join Google Cloud but continue supporting multiple platforms including aws, Azure and Oracle Cloud as a multi cloud security provider. The deal closed after US and EU regulatory approval and follows Wiz surpassing $1 billion in annual recurring revenue in 2025. Meta is adding new scam detection features across Facebook, messenger and WhatsApp to warn users about suspicious activity before interaction. The updates include alerts for unusual device linking attempts on WhatsApp, warnings for suspicious friend requests on Facebook, and expanded AI based scam detection on messenger that can review chats for common fraud patterns. This is all designed to help users identify and block potential scams by before they become a problem. Meta also unveiled four new in house AI chips in its Meta Training and Inference Accelerator, or Mtia lineup as part of its expanding data center Strategy. The MTIA 300 was deployed recently for smaller AI model training used in content ranking and ads, While the MTIA 400, 450 and 500 will roll out in 2027 for generative AI inference tasks like image and video creation. Meta says the custom chips, which are manufactured by TSMC, help diversify its silicon supply and reduce reliance on GPUs from Nvidia and AMD. Nintendo shares jumped as much as 10.5%, the company's biggest gain since April after the success of Pokemon Pocopia physical copies of the game, which was released March 5th exclusively for the Switch 2 and have sold out at several major US retailers, helping offset concerns about rising memory costs affecting Nintendo. Google is expanding its Gemini AI integration in Chrome to India, New Zealand and Canada and adding support for more than 50 languages including Hindi, French and Spanish. Desktop and iOS users can use Gemini to chat, summarize web pages, compare information across tabs and and perform multi step tasks like managing email, Google tasks and calendar. Up to 10 tabs can be shared with Gemini on desktop and it can transform images using the Nano Banana 2 model. Amazon's Zoox plans to make its driverless robo taxis hailable using the Uber app in Las Vegas later this year, pending federal approval for commercial deployments. Zoox currently operates demo rides and is building presence in eight US cities and with plans for Los Angeles in 2027, the company wants exemptions from eight federal safety standards including windshield wipers and defrosting. This is Zoox's first third party integration. Uber already works with more than 25 autonomous vehicle companies worldwide and finally today as its legal battle with the Pentagon over being blacklisted as a supply chain risk continues to Anthropic is launching the Anthropic Institute, a new internal think tank combining three research teams. Co founder Jack Clark will lead the Institute to study AIs societal, economic and safety impacts including emotional dependence, governance and long term control. Clark says funding and commercial pressures won't hinder research, and transparency is a priority. The Institute is starting with about 30 staff, including experts from DeepMind, OpenAI and academia, with plans to double annually.
