It is a big old ad announcement day, so let's start with WhatsApp. It will start showing ads on its status screen not unlike Instagram stories using non personally identifiable data like location, language and follow channels. WhatsApp owner Meta says messages, calls and phone numbers won't be used for targeting the Apple also let businesses and creators promote channels and offer paid subscriptions for exclusive updates. More Ad News Netflix is partnering with Yahoo to expand its programic ad sales, letting advertisers buy inventory through Yahoo's demand side platform or DSP, across all 12 of Netflix's ad supported markets later this year. Existing partnerships include the Trade Desk, Google and Microsoft. Netflix's ad supported tier now reaches 94 million users. We are not done yet. TikTok is expanding its AI ad platform Symphony to let brands generate influencer style content using virtual avatars that that mimic human creators. Advertisers can upload images and prompts to create videos of avatars, modeling clothes, holding products or showcasing apps. TikTok says the content will be labeled as AI generated and reviewed for safety. Oh, but that's not all. Amazon Ads and Roku have struck a deal to let advertisers use Amazon's DSP to place targeted ads across Roku's platforms and including the Roku Channel and Prime Video, potentially reaching more than 80% of US connected TV households by Q4 of this year. All right, final one, I promise. Reddit is testing a new ad feature called Conversation Summary Add Ons, which places AI curated positive user comments directly below ads to boost engagement. Brands like Jackbox Games and Lucid are early testers. It's powered by Reddit's new community intelligence engine and scans over 22 billion posts to generate marketing insights. Reddit also unveiled Reddit Insights, an AI driven social listening tool offering real time campaign data. Both features were announced during the Cannes Lions Festival. The Trump family announced Trump Mobile, a mobile network with a $47.45 per month Gold T1 phone for $499, claiming it's made in the U.S. the device runs Android 15. Trump Mobile operates as an MVNO on the T Mobile network through Liberty Mobile. The company claims it will base customer service in Missouri. Seoul, South Korea announced it will expand its late night autonomous taxi service to cover the entire Gangnam district starting this week after a zero accident pilot launched in September. The self driving Cabs operate from 11pm to 5am on weekdays and can be summoned on the Kakao T app. The service will expand to key subway stations like Apjujiang and chongdam. And finally, Anwajiki's nonprofit TTAM Research Institute is set to acquire 23andMe, beating out a prior bid from Regeneron. The acquisition follows 23andMe's bankruptcy filing back in March after a major 2023 data bre and lawsuit settlement. Wojcicki had stepped down as CEO to independently bid. The sale still requires court approval and faces opposition from 28 state attorneys general who argue customer genetic data cannot be sold without consent. TTAM says it will uphold privacy policies and form a new advisory board within 90 days.
