Amazon Meta Google and Microsoft are lobbying for a 10 year federal ban on US states enacting their own AI regulations, arguing that fragmented rules would hinder innovation and global competitiveness. The proposal is being pushed through trade group Encompass and has made it through a House passed bill. Apple is notably absent from this particular lobbying effort, despite its own previous opposition to EU AI regulation. The US President is issuing a third 90 day delay on enforcing the US law that would ban TikTok unless its China based parent ByteDance, sells it. Caroline Levitt, White House press secretary, said in a statement that the president wants to keep the app accessible while a sale deal is finalized. A previous U.S. ownership deal collapsed after the president imposed new tariffs on China. ByteDance says any deal still requires China's approval, which may not include TikTok's core algorithm. Tuesday, the US Senate passed the Genius act, creating the first federal framework for US dollar pegged stablecoins, giving broad authority to the treasury and letting banks, fintechs and retailers issue them. Though the bill bars members of Congress from doing so, the House must now reconcile this with its own Stable act, with key differences in regulatory control threads is adding a section to the following tab that shows posts from people you follow in the Fediverse. The 21 foot, 2,800 pound rocket flew for nearly a minute and used tech adapted from Honda's automated driving systems. It's still in the research phase, but Honda plans for suborbital launches by 2029, though hasn't offered commercial plans just yet. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy told employees the company's corporate headcount will shrink in the coming years as generative AI tools take over some tasks, he said. Staff should embrace AI to boost productivity with smaller teams. Amazon has already cut 27,000 jobs since 2022, but Jassy says AI is streamlining operations from inventory to warehouse automation. The browser Company wants to set its new browser dia apart from arc. ARC reimagined the whole browsing experience for power users. DIA is trying a simpler approach for the more casual user, using machine learning and the address bar to figure out what you actually want, a search, a link, or a quick AI result.
