This is a massive social media baseball moment. He decides to apparently accidentally tweet a text intended for a Cubs coach or manager. Is that fair?

I think. I mean, he covers the Cubs and White Sox. So in his tweet he says, you and other coaches have been the stars of the team being 12 games over.500.

So that's Cubs, that's Cubs.

That like it would be absolutely wild if he was texting another coach for another team that was over.

That was 12 games. I haven't Even looked to see if anybody even fits that. So we, we know that. We know. 7:46pm and was it taken down?

He did eventually take it down.

It's, it's so on brand for Bruce because he's became known on like social media or just Cub's Twitter of a guy who always has a lot of typos in his tweets. Sometimes he doesn't even have a space after he ends a sentence and goes right into another sentence.

Tweeted the tweet was Ian Miller recalled by Cubs. And there's a picture of D. Donald Trump sitting in a park sipping coffee behind a card table with a sign on it. Like, this is.

Yeah, but it's got like a Charlie Kirk thing and it says Joe Biden is just Hillary Clinton with a smaller dick. Change my mind.

Then he later apologized for the picture, said he has no agenda for political.

So I originally thought it was just Craig Counsel, but after hours of thinking about this, I came up with John Maley number.

Because he's been at the organization, like, multiple times and just been. Been around for a long time. Which leads into number two, Tommy Hodavi, who's also been with the Cubs organization for at least. I swear, at least 10 years now. I put Craig council number three just because I. He talks to Craig Counsel every day. There was a video that came out in spring training. I don't remember who took the video. I want to say it was Taylor McGregor of Craig Council giving Bruce Levine a birthday card at spring training. And Bruce has been on the beat for decades.

Like, he's.

[Cody Delmendo]

Yes. So that's why Credit Council is number three for me. And then number four, Garrett Lloyd. He's a bullpen. Bullpen catcher. He's. He's also been with the organization for what seems like forever. And then I put Dustin Kelly number five. I don't feel confident about it, but based off the tweet, it's kind of like, well, Dustin Kelly's the hitting coach. The offense has been carrying this team, like, I don't know, maybe. Maybe that's it.

But part of it has to be the enjoy the family time part.

Yeah, that's true, too.

Because is anybody with kids or kids it playing baseball or. I'm just.

But that's the biggest thing for me is the. Is the family time. Because to me you're not saying that to someone with older. Older kids. Like Melee has kids in his 20s, kids that are in their 20s. How do he has. Has younger kids. And you know, you. You look at it and what. What the pitching staff has been able to survive and do through all the injuries. I kind of lean that direction. But then who's. So my immediate thought was Tweedle or Twinkle. Sorry. Twinkle.

I I also we. It's a. It's a good thing that the personal comment was something like, you know, enjoy the family time instead of, hey, I heard you're meeting Diana Rossini at a resort. Enjoy the time with Diana Rossini. You know, so it was something other than that. That. It absolutely could have been. It could have been worse. But it's Tweedledee and Tweedledum, not twinkledee and Twinkledum. So when we were talking about this last night in our text thread, like one of somebody said, how long until we find out he was. They. They claim he was hacked or he claims he was hacked. And I'm thinking that the odds of being hacked by somebody that would tweet identically to a perfect, obvious Bruce Levine tweet.

And would hack Bruce Levine. Like, no way. I don't care what software you want to run this through and whatever. AI Would you look at tendencies and look at all previous tweets and say they would spit out a like 99.999% possibility that this actually came from this user? Yeah, it's. Come on.

Yeah. No one would believe it if, if, if Bruce were to tweet today, you know, like an apology post or something like that. No one would believe that. Or not an apology post, but like

It just, it's not supposed to. It's, it's not that you can't do that, man.

So my thought on that was, I mean, I thought about this too much. Like, what if that was like some kind of like inside joke with this guy and like that was what they refer to these two people as. Because maybe it was said. It was said by mistake one time and they had a laugh out it. So they just continue using Twinkle D and Twinkle Dumb. But I'm sure the correct answer is that he just made it.

Yes, I think he, I think he meant, I think the most reasonable explanation is that he meant Tweedledee and Tweedledum.

Which is also why I asked about being able to voice over things for, for Twitter. Because the fact that maybe, maybe Twitter, maybe the voice thing heard it wrong and put twinkle and he didn't read it. And also why Hope maybe was capitalized because that's a person's name and if you're doing a voice activation thing, it would automatically capitalize the word hope.

And I have been following Matthew Trueblood of Northside Baseball.

So first Matthew True Blood in all caps on blue sky said, oh my God, Bruce Levine just accidentally tweeted a text to a Cubs coach. So then he said, tweets, been up for 25 minutes. How is he not taking it down? Update tweet down. And then he Added, if Jed Hoyer and Carter Hawkins aren't wearing obvious shirts that say Twinkle D and Twinkle Dumb when they get to Wrigley on Friday, they're cowards.

Yes. So that, that's what I'm, I, I, I tweeted this last night. Like, they should, they, like, Bruce should lean into it a little bit. Like, just like kind of admit, you know, I messed up and then like, for, I don't think that anyone's going to take any offense to this, like,

or keep doing it. Keep sending tweets that look like they should be texts to people that look like insider stuff.

I'm sure that account has already started. Someone started the Bruce Levias text account.

Yeah, but you should, you can really do that if you really want to be the center of attention for a while and you could just keep putting out. Well, wait a second. Is this all part of some kind of long form bit and then you get it sponsored and everybody makes money?

Yeah, well, I'm, you know, I tell you, he's, he's lucky it wasn't aimed at a White Sox front office person, because I'm, I know that they would, they would hold a grudge to it. Oh, yeah, they certainly would. I mean, when I got reprimanded for wearing a Cubs T shirt one day during a recording of Hit and Run at the ballpark and was, you know, the next day had an email and a conversation with the PD about it. You can't wear a, you know, Cubs T shirt to Sox park. Oh, you gotta be kidding me. So he's lucky it's Cubs thing.

Because I just wanted to celebrate it. I just want to say this is awesome. And it sent me down a Tweedledum and Tweedledee rabbit hole. And I'm learning about John Byram's epigram that came before 1871's through the looking Glass by Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland. And that Tweedledee and Tweedledum in Alice in Wonderland actually came from a reference to, to a nursery rhyme. Tweedledum and Tweedledee agreed to have a battle for Tweedledum said Tweedledee had spoiled his nice new rattle. Just then flew down a monstrous crow as black as a tar barrel, which frightened both the heroes, so they quite forgot their quarrel. Now, that doesn't rhyme. That nursery rhyme sucks because quarrel does not rhyme with Beryl. So however that got started, the that I learned. That's bad. And then that was picked up by Lewis Carroll. That does rhyme with barrel and was used in through the Looking Glass. So I I knew them because I saw the movie when I was a kid and I picture them with their little beanies on and their fat bellies and I don't know who Twinkle De and Twinkle Dumb are, but they exist now.

Maybe you've got a side in this or maybe you have your allies against other people, but nobody wants to think of you as the kind of person that's going to be talking about one aspect or like, hey, your boss sucks, or somebody said this about you, somebody said that about you. Like the. There are actual ramifications to this. I mean, let's just. We are. Yeah. We can have a lot of fun with it. And I, believe me, I am. But there are serious ramifications to, to the reporter and a trust level.

And while we are talking about sports wagering, I think we absolutely should talk about what is happening with this issue between Bryce Harper and a lawsuit involving a failed Gambler and FanDuel. Because it's a fascinating story that I think right now is not quite being reported as it should. And I'm going to tell you why. The story in a nutshell is that a cameo video was purchased by FanDuel by a representative of FanDuel a what is known as a. What do they call them, personal hosts or concierge ambassadors that are assigned to the whales. What's a whale? A whale is when a casino a Sports book, whatever the. The gambling house is, finds a big better and often a big loser that somebody who is able to give them a lot of money and they cultivate these relationships. This shouldn't come as any surprise. And essentially that's what the lawsuit is about. If you want to get into. And there are questions of where the law is as far as predatory business practices. I don't know where the law is on all this stuff. And the lawsuit at this point is sort of secondary, I think, to the reporting. It should not come as any surprise when a gambling business is cultivating a money maker. This has gone on forever. Forever. And I want to say I watched a real sports 15 or 20 years ago where Brian Gumbel and Mary Carrillo, the long late, lamented real sports, which was fabulous. Did a story on this about the. The cultivation of the whales and what casinos would do, whether they were Japanese businessmen who had a private plane who would fly to Vegas and the special perks that they would get. Anytime somebody brags was like, I go to Vegas all the time. I get this comped and I get that comped. My room is comped, my food is comped. I know what I always say that must mean you lose a lot, because usually if people start winning a lot, they cut them out of all this stuff because nobody's, Nobody's give people because that's, that's their job. And they've got algorithms doing that. And there, there are people doing it. But this. The woman who sent Bryce Harper, who was, who was in charge of Bryce Harper, who was, who was the curator, excuse me, was in charge of the. The gambler that is suing Fanduel was named Brittany. And the spelling of her name is a giveaway because it's spelled B R Y T T A N N, I. And one of her people who would receive gifts from her, as this concierge, say, hey, here's tickets to the super bowl here, fly here. And this, this gambler was given the airfare, hotels, tickets as, as stewardship of a client, essentially. Terry Thompson wagered 18.5 million and lost 1.5 million. I, I don't even know if that's considered good or bad. And I'm not gonna. I can't speak to the merits of the actual case, but as part of the maintenance of this account, he was sent a cameo video from Bryce Harper. And Bryce Harper says in the video, as he wishes Thompson and his family a happy Thanksgiving, Bryce Harper doesn't say anything about sports betting, but he says, he says your host Brittany from FanDuel wanted to make sure your Thanksgiving was extra special. Okay, so that's in there. And once I saw that, I realized this is in large part on Bryce Harper because Harper says FanDuel had no right to put its logo on the video and use it as a gambling promotion. He says he creates his personalized cameo videos to engage with fans. He creates camera videos to make money. Now, I know this. I'm on cameo.

And I've had people send me cameos that have been fishy. Hey, would you say, blah, blah, blah? And there's. There's all kinds of bad actors out there who want you on the record saying something. Sure, of course. And here. That's on you. That's on you. I've rejected all kinds of cameos because you've got to sniff them out.

So let me.

Let me ask you as a guy who's done them, then. So if I. If I'm Bryce Harper and I get this script and now I'm saying that I didn't know idea they were going to use it like this. But if I get a script that says Britney from. From FanDuel, does he have the opportunity to say, hey, what's this about?

Or not the opportunity he has the responsibility to do.

Okay, so. But you can, as the cameo person, you can, you can. Oh, you call someone the app.

No, no. First of all, the app allows you to reject any cameo for no reason.

Not an indentured server. Once you join, you're not forced to record anything against your will.

[Matt]

So he could say no right away. If obviously, if it's something that's completely outrageous, you say no.

Say no. No explanation.

If there's something where you want further explanation for, can you. Can you ask.

Yes. Through the app.

So they make it that message. You can direct message the buyer and say, hey, needle clarification on this. Because some. And sometimes there's a script where they'll say, hey, could you say this? Make sure you say this. And look, if somebody's doing it for their business or somebody wants to do it and. And I think they're going to use their cameo to put it on their website and say, hey, Dan Bernstein said nice things about Joe's plumbing. Where I'm like, no, no, no, no. You get that that's not how this works. That this is not a business transaction. I'm wishing somebody happy birthday.

So he would, he would be able to directly message Brittany then.

And say, hey, give me some clarity on what this is about.

You're. If you're Bryce Harper, you don't have to do that. If you're Bryce Harper, you call your agent or agents, you call your marketing representatives and you say, can you. What's in my FanDuel deal? Is this in my deal? Because it may be that there's something in there with a partnership where you've already agreed where you get X number of these or. Or FanDuel says, as part of our contract, there are three cameos that we can use for marketing purposes. Not to be used for this, this and this and this. It's very possible that those deals have some cameo. Have a piece.

No, no, no. That's. That's. Yeah, That's. That's.

Yeah, but just call and ask her. Just, just before you do that, if you have a problem with it, you have more. It's not hidden. This is not anything on cameo that is deceptive. I'm not talking about what his real and I don't know his relationship with fanduel. I just know if I were in Bryce Harper's position and I heard any business. And you can argue whatever you want about what a. What a casino or a sportsbook does with its clientele, that's going to be in the lawsuit.

But here's me for my. For anybody whose brand is on there, if you wanted to refer to it as that, that's your job to protect your brand. What maybe happened, came to him and said, hey, you got this cameo to do. He's not going to second. He's not going to second guess that at all.

for this week and, or whatever other obligations he has. Sure.

And there's 15 of them, and one's to Larry and one's to Joe and one's to Ann and ones to Mary, and you get to, okay, who's this? Who's next? All right. Okay. And he's doing a million other things, and it's like, okay, hey, Happy Thanksgiving, and you're hosted FanDuel, blah, blah, blah. Okay, that's done. What's next? But it's still on him. It's still on him to say, whoa, whoa, hey, what do you mean? Brittany from FanDuel on this one. Are we sure? Is this right? Do I, it's, that's, that is still on him.

It's easy. It's easy to see it slip through the cracks, and it's easy to understand why somebody wouldn't. But then you can't, after the fact then say, wait a second here.

And that's that you can't do that.

Then from a legal standpoint, it is on him. Yes. But that is something that he has to deal with with his people because that, that shouldn't have happened.

Then after, if you want to go back and say, hey, you got to protect me better. Yeah, I need more of a, I need a thicker layer of protection from some of these decisions that I might not be in the headspace to make or have the awareness. Sure, that's, yeah, that. But that's. If he wants extra layers of protection.

From this application, that's fine. But it is, I, I, I, I just want to make sure that you know that from my experience, from my experience when I've had. I wait a second. And, and I will say there have been a couple times when I've been recording something and you hear it come out of your mouth and you're like, you know what? I'm not comfortable saying that. Yeah, no, I could be used differently.

And I, I think, yo, you're exactly right. And I'm not disagreeing with that at all. But I think from his perspective, the level of star that he is as an athlete, he's just assuming that everything's vetted and is. What is my assumption on this?

It could Be. Yeah.

And, and if, if there's a copy that he gets through, and I think you make a great point that he's got 10 or 12 of these to do. We're gonna knock these out when you get home next Tuesday. If he's looking through one, it says, and he's reading through and he's like, oh, you know, Brittany from, you know, Roxy's titty bar wants to make sure you and your family have a great, like, he probably got a lot of

money at Roxy's, but he'd probably look

at that and go, what is, what is this one?

Yeah, I don't want to.

But for a professional athlete to see one that says, you know, a very reputable, well known company, he's not going to question that at all.

No, you're probably right. You're probably right that I'm, I'm more sensitive to it maybe.

Right. Because of your circumstance. I get it. You, like, you've, you've dealt with this and you've had experiences where people are trying to pull one over on you and you got to deal with it on your own and you're your own protection where he doesn't have that. He's not, I mean, he, he pays people, I'm sure, to do this stuff for him. And if they hand him something, why wouldn't he read it? Now, I know in his statement, his statement comes very clear that it looks like, oh, you know, I was tricked and I was duped and he's not throwing his people under the bus, but maybe that's what's next, I don't know.

So we'll see how he handles this. But I just think it's kind of weak to, to put out a public statement when it's ultimately your responsibility.

You're, and you're correct on that. And anything I had to say, that's, that, that trumps everything I had to say.

Oh, the boats. With the boats out here that go by. The people with the giant speakers in their boats and the twerking and, like, middle of the day yesterday. It's a Monday, middle of the day. There's an entire boat. Boat full of ass just. Just twerking to some. Barely. Like, the. The. The beat is so low and heavy, it, like, shakes your chest more than you can hear it. Yeah. Coming from wherever. And there's also people that ride their little loud motorbikes and have the giant speakers. I watched instead of the Home Run Derby last night, I watched the Bulls summer league game, because that's what you do. And Caleb Wilson was bad but awesome. Let me explain. He shot horribly. He should have had, like, 50 points just by free throws, because you know what they're doing. If you get fouled shooting a three, you get one free throw. That counts for the three points. And he couldn't make a free throw. I think I saw him miss seven in a row at one point. He's a 71% collegiate foul shooter, so my guess is something has to do with him being out for months and having the thumb surgery or whatever. I'm going to give him every benefit of the doubt. I don't think the guy is a 40% free throw shooter. I'm not worried about that. But even on a. Even when bad, there were a couple things I really liked. He's always trying to do something. And Thiago Splitter apparently told him, shoot it every time. And that's what's great, is that he's got free reign out there. I don't know that Billy Donovan would have done this, but Tiago's like, no, no. Yeah, You're. You're Caleb Wilson.

It's summer league. He should shoot it every time. Nobody cares if you win or lose. It doesn't matter. And they were awful. They scored, like, 60 points in an NBA game, which is nearly impossible. But go ahead, shoot it every day. All that matters.

He matters Dylan Swain matters. Nobody else really matters. And if you want to develop this guy Sellers, I kind of think he's worth maybe a two way. Look, I like some of the traits there. A Senge matters. He's. He's just got to get stronger. That man has just got to get stronger. He's got to stop falling down. He's. He's got a, he's just got to hold his position. He, he just needs to be sturdier because he's got some defensive instincts and he's long. There were a couple of Senge plays I really liked. There was one breakaway with a defender closing when he dribbled. And instead of bringing the ball down, instead of a gather, instead of a fake, he went one hand like Giannis. He just, he just came right off the dribble, kept it right up and dunked it. And another, he got fouled on a little sweeping left to right basket attack where he did that extendo gadget arm. And you saw that. So I'm in watching these games, you see traits, you see a lot of little things, but I love how they're coaching or, or not coaching. Caleb Wilson,

And that was very, very nice to see. That was extremely exciting. Even when he's bad, you see good stuff and like how he hit his free throws. I didn't count it all up But I think. that's ease on the Bulls. And apparently Splitter told him, like, I guess the rule is as long as you play defense. And they are. They were guarding a little bit. He had a couple of block shots, too, that were legit and not like super showy blocking somebody else's guy's shot. Yeah, like, really controlled, timed. What do you end up with? 5 blocks. It's the minutes when he's on the floor. I have been paying very, very close attention to what's going on. I obviously wasn't paying enough close attention to add up is the free throws, because they're doing the rule where one free throw counts for more, so you miss one.

Do they do that every. Is that every. Is that a summer league thing?

I think they did it last year and they're doing. They're doing it this year. They do it in G League too, where, except for the last two minutes, it just. It picks up the pace where you get fouled on a three, you get one free throw for all three points.

Oh, they lost 80 to 63.

It is bad. But a lot of that's free throws.

And a lot of it was. Was his free throws. So it's. And to see. He never stopped playing hard. He never stopped trying. When they mic'd him up, it was clear that he understood the four or five plays that they have in there, the. The basic NBA, current NBA sets they have in there, and they were guarding. And I'd say Jalen Sellers plays really hard. He's in a very high motor, very high intensity, like. Like, you know, beating his chest and screaming like it's a summer league.
