What we cover:

The Simulation — how to immerse students in the world of your unit. I talk about what @wellhelloitsmarie does for her Gatsby unit!

The Era Party — students discover a moment in time through newspapers, primary sources, and people at table stations. The difference between this and a Simulation: students do the discovering through a scavenger-hunt style activity.

The Mirror — my personal favorite. This is where you put the past and the present side by side and let students make the connection without being told what to think. I walk through my French Revolution station activity, where my stations put liberty caps next to Katniss Everdeen, revolutionary pamphlets next to Childish Gambino lyrics.
