It's now time for your weekly Retox with Tom Schwartz.
Tom Schwartz
Hello.
Brittany Cartwright
What is up? What is up? Welcome to another episode, Detox. Retox. Emphasis on retox. Yeah, we're gonna have some drinks. We're gonna let loose a little bit. We're not gonna get lit, but just pleasantly buzzed. I'm chilling at my place right now. My bags are packed. I'm ready to go. Going to Saskatoon, Canada, first thing in the morning. What you know about Canada? I mean, what you know about Saskatoon? The Paris of the prairies. I'm talking Toontown, City of bridges. I don't know a damn thing about Saskatoon. But I'm about to find out. But I'm chilling right now. You know what? I was gonna do an episode with one of the new cast members in the back alley of Sir. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
Tom Schwartz
Maybe over a pumptini.
Brittany Cartwright
But I found out that they haven't officially announced the cast yet, so I can't do that. And I met like three or four of them at TomTom. Yeah. But I'm excited.
Tom Schwartz
Are you guys gonna watch it?
Brittany Cartwright
I was just watching the teaser trailer on Tick Tock.
Shopify Advertiser
The faces may have changed, but my rules, they've stayed.
Brittany Cartwright
My rules, they've stayed the same. Yes. By the way, the comments are sending me this. Sheena will be in every episode.
Tom Schwartz
Somehow, if anyone already has Lip filler.
Brittany Cartwright
I'm done.
Tom Schwartz
We deserve to watch them all through their faces over time.
Brittany Cartwright
That's hilarious. Someone said you can't replace the blueprints. I don't think they're trying to, from what I understand. I've talked to some of the producers. They're not trying to recreate the lightning in a bottle, the magic we had with the OG vpr, But also, it's just a different time. Just a different time. Like, Instagram was barely a thing when we started. But, yeah, I'm gonna watch it. I'm excited. I am stoked about that. This episode. What are we talking about?
Brittany (Guest)
I don't know.
Brittany Cartwright
I hope to spread some love this episode. I hope. Yeah, maybe the takeaway is just a gentle reminder to maybe go check on your friends, have a laugh with them. Just say, I miss you. Maybe a nice big hug. Send a text. Maybe call your bro at night and say, sweet dreams. I was just thinking about you. Have you seen this trend on TikTok or. Generally speaking, men Seems to be funnier when the dudes do it just because of this whole machismo thing we have. But they call their buddies and they're like, hey, I just wanted to say good night. I was thinking about you. Sweet dreams.
Tom Schwartz
And their friends are like, what the fuck?
Brittany Cartwright
Are you good? Wait, are you drunk?
Tom Schwartz
You're not suicidal, are you? Yo, what is going on?
Brittany Cartwright
It's so funny. I don't know. There's a lot to unpack there. Just like, you know, early on. Dudes, what are we told? Toughen up, man up, don't cry. I don't know. Kind of conditions us to withhold our emotions, be, you know, be a man. But I don't know. I feel like men are getting better. Society as a whole is getting better at getting in touch with your emotions, being vulnerable. What do you guys think? What would you rate your partner's ability to be vulnerable? How's their emotional intelligence? It's good to be vulnerable. Bros, come on out there, soften up a little bit. Cool it on the machismo. Showing your emotions isn't weakness. Duh. It's strength. I don't know. But yeah, I just. I don't know. I want to take a moment, show some love to you, and maybe you'll show some love to someone else. Paid forward. Maybe show some more patience and grace to your. Your fellow human. Zuh. Maybe your fellow strangers. Man, it's rough out there lately. I recently watched this episode of I Survived, and it was this woman's horrific account of this group of friends who were sailing in the ocean. It was like a pontoon boat, I think, and it capsized. Yeah. You guys know I survived. That shit will give you a dose of perspective real quick. Not to minimize your problems or your worries of the day, but, yeah, their boat. So their pontu boat capsized. There was no life jackets, no food, no water. They're drifting in the ocean. Next thing you know, she's watching her BFF get eaten alive by a fucking shark. Like, truly one of my worst nightmares possible. She ended up surviving. She was swimming, like, for like 24 hours or something. I don't have no idea how she did it. And the guy survived, too. But her friend unfortunately lost her life. But I went to the comments and I liked this one from Sublime929. It says, this is why we should all respect each other. Imagine yelling at this lady because she zones out at a light and doesn't go, and you flip out on her. You never know what is going on in someone's head or what kind of day they had. You don't know what they may have just gone through in life. They could have just loved one. Lost a loved one on Java, Pat. But point being, can we give each other a little more grace? My God, I think I'm part of the problem. That light turns green and you're not moving within two seconds. That's your grace period. I'm honking and I'm probably judging you and probably calling you a worthless sack of shit. Remember Anti Sonder from the last episode? We gotta chill out. I gotta take a chill pill. Yeah, man. Reminder just to give each other a little more grace. You never know what someone's going through. But my bags are packed. Like I said, I'm ready to go. Freaking Saskatoon. I got my credentials, my maple leaf tattoo, you know? I love you, Canada. Don't even get me started. You're my baby. Illy. But, yeah, we're gonna go chill out at Brits for a little bit before she invited me to a pool party. And I'm gonna go kick it. I'm gonna bring my equipment, maybe do, like, a little interview. But, like, I'm talking. Listen, she's had an extremely difficult year. So, like, I'm just gonna go in, I'm gonna check in, try to make her laugh, lighten up the mood a little bit. Total fluff piece. Like, I'm talking. I just want to have some laughs, shoot the shit with my. My old friend, okay? My goal. My. This is my goal.
Tom Schwartz
All right?
Brittany Cartwright
Lift her Spirits get her laughing. And somehow I'm going to steer this conversation into something ridiculous, like, let's talk about hooters. I want to make sure 80% of this conversation is about hooters. If you listen to the last episode, we ruminated on why laughter is the best medicine. And it is. We all need to laugh a little more. Get those endorphins high. Cortisol low. Fuck you, cortisol. Also, I'm gonna drink a little. I'm gonna bring a little patron. I know Brittany likes Casamigos. Me no likey. But today I will drink Casamigos for Brittany. I'm thinking a nice little poolside retox session before I part to one of my favorite places in the world. Oh, Canada. But yeah, let's just go over there and we'll just pick up at some point. You know, I don't. I don't know. We'll keep it light. We'll keep it light. This is the fluff piece, baby. All right. We'll pick back up over at Brits. I don't even know who's there. Let's go find out. You're listening to this podcast, so I know you've got a curious mind. Here's a helpful fact you might not know yet. Drivers who switch and save with Progressive save over $900 on average. They make it super simple. I love mukbang.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, my God. How weirdly satisfying is mukbang?
Tom Schwartz
All right, we're gonna pivot. We're just gonna do a mukbang episode. There's queso in the kitchen. Vegetarian and meaty.

Yeah, you guys, two choices. So Kristen has one.

Wait, is this your thing?
Tom Schwartz
Just roll with it.
Brittany (Guest)
Okay.
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
Okay.
Tom Schwartz
Into the nose, out through the mouth. I want you to repeat after me.
Brittany Cartwright
Okay.
Brittany (Guest)
Wait, I can't laugh. Okay, I'm laughing. All right.
Brittany Cartwright
Ready?
Jasmine (Hooters Girl)
What?
Tom Schwartz
This is a meditation.
Brittany (Guest)
Okay.
Tom Schwartz
Everything is gonna be okay.
Brittany (Guest)
Everything's gonna be okay.
Tom Schwartz
I am calm, and I am centered.
Brittany (Guest)
I'm calm, and I'm centered.
Tom Schwartz
I am strong, very sparkly.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, sparkly.
Tom Schwartz
And a beautiful woman.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh. I'm calm, very sparkly. And a beautiful woman.
Tom Schwartz
Even the strongest storms run out of rain.
Brittany (Guest)
Even the strongest storms run out of rain.
Tom Schwartz

Brittany (Guest)
And I'm truly blessed to be on Tom Schwartz's podcast right now.
Tom Schwartz
I'm so sorry for plucking you from your beautiful day.
Brittany (Guest)
I'm happy. This is gonna be fun.
Brittany Cartwright
Thanks, Britt. I just wanted to check in with you.
Tom Schwartz
Yeah, I wrote some stuff down, but I'm not really gonna read it.
Brittany Cartwright
I just wanted to say hi.
Brittany (Guest)
Hi.
Tom Schwartz
I do a harmony check.
Brittany (Guest)
Let's do it.
Tom Schwartz
How's. Okay. On a scale from 1 to 10, everybody wants to know, how's your sparkle?
Brittany (Guest)
My sparkle is coming back.
Tom Schwartz
That's what I'm saying. Yeah, you got an aura.
Brittany (Guest)
Right now, it's like eight. Whoa. Out of ten.
Brittany Cartwright
That's what I'm talking about.
Jasmine (Hooters Girl)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
You heard it here first. This is an exclusive.
Brittany (Guest)
I'm in a much better place than I was last summer, so. Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
You seem happy.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
It's time for new beginnings.
Brittany (Guest)
Exactly.
Tom Schwartz
One door closes, another opens. That type of vibe. By the way, I just talked to you yesterday via text. I had no idea that you were doing Special Forces.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, my gosh. Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
I mean, listen, the first thing I asked you. And I know it's a question that's on everyone's mind. How many times did you poop outside?
Brittany (Guest)
You'll have to wait and see. I guess I can't even talk about pooping outside because you'll have to see.
Tom Schwartz
I. I open. So I. The first thing I saw when I opened Instagram today, There's one of your castmates, Brianna Chicken Fry.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
She's a big podcaster and she does everything, but she did a Q and
Brittany (Guest)
A. Oh, she did.
Tom Schwartz
She. A little teaser about her experience. And the first question was, how was your experience? And she's like, I cried every day.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh. It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my Life I like, you know, I've been very open about, like, heights and how, like, that terrifies me. So, like, doing different things like that. I'm proud of myself.
Tom Schwartz
Yes.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
It really puts you to your limits.
Brittany (Guest)
Yes.
Tom Schwartz
Can you tell? Okay, you can't tell us how many times you pooped. How many times did you cry?
Brittany (Guest)
At least, like, three times.
Tom Schwartz
No, but listen, I talked to Tom about it, and he said it broke him. It really did.
Brittany (Guest)
Tom actually did. Because I watched it before I went on the show, and I was like, wow. Tom actually was impressive on that show, except for the time that he had to, like, carry Jojo.
Tom Schwartz
Jojo carried him.
Brittany (Guest)
Jojo had to carry Dom. JoJo Siva carried Dom. Like, that's hilarious.
Tom Schwartz
Do you feel like. Listen, I know we can't go. We can't go.
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
Yeah.
Brittany (Guest)
I can't talk about how far I went or anything.
Tom Schwartz
No, no, no, no, no, no. I'm saying. I'm talking in terms of pushing yourself.
Brittany (Guest)
Yes.
Tom Schwartz
How would you rate your performance? Your commitment, your devotion?
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, gosh. Not. I mean,
Tom Schwartz
let's be honest.
Brittany (Guest)
Let's just say it. Let's just say I tried.
Tom Schwartz
Okay. She tried. Last thing about this. Another thing. I looked at this, and someone asked Brianna, how was the food? I feel like they don't show it that much. And she said, let's just say my dogs eat better than we did.
Brittany (Guest)
What? I mean, like a. Like a chicken Caesar wrap. It wasn't that bad. Like, there was, like, different things that were okay, I remember, but I don't know where we were. It wasn't food that I was used to, I guess.
Tom Schwartz
Did you sleep okay?
Brittany (Guest)
I mean, not really.
Tom Schwartz
Like, scale 1 to 10?
Brittany Cartwright
Sleep.
Brittany (Guest)
Sleep is like a 2. I don't sleep good anyway. Like, I had to take, like, a unisom or something.
Tom Schwartz
But you're glad you did it.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, my God, I'm so glad I did. I, like, pushed myself to do things I never thought I could do.
Tom Schwartz
I remember watching last season. I think last season was with Tom, right? Yeah.
Brittany (Guest)
And no, no. I think he was like, one season. One or two.
Tom Schwartz
Oh. So. But one of my favorite. I love Tara Reid. American Pie.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
She's iconic, but in the beginning, she snuck three packs of cigarettes in. Did you try. Did you try to smuggle any mama's beer cheese in there?
Brittany (Guest)
How did she. How did she even, like, snuggle something in? That's what I'm wondering.
Tom Schwartz
She had cargo pockets.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, there was no. No. Yeah, we have cargo pockets, too.
Tom Schwartz
There was no cavity checks.
Brittany (Guest)
Not Cavity checks. There wasn't even any cavity checks. But like, definitely, definitely. Like nothing you would ever experience. Like, it was. It was a whirlwind.
Brittany Cartwright
Yeah.
Brittany (Guest)
Like it was crazy, you know?
Tom Schwartz
You're glad you did it?
Brittany (Guest)
I'm glad I did it. Cuz it was something different. It was something to push myself.
Brittany Cartwright
Yeah.
Brittany (Guest)
With everything that's going on in my life, it felt like it was something that was needed. Like, Let me just try it.
Tom Schwartz
It felt cathartic.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
A nice little escapism.
Brittany (Guest)
Let me just try it.
Tom Schwartz
Well, I'm glad you did it too. I'm excited to watch the new season. And by the way, speaking of seasons, season two just ended. What's going on through your head right now?
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, my gosh. I'm just.
Tom Schwartz
We're keeping it light today.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
We're not trying to go deep, but
Brittany (Guest)
we're keeping it light. But I'm excited for season three because I feel like it's my time to be happy and healthy and just like a whole different Britney than what you saw last season.
Tom Schwartz
How Brittany got her groove back.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
Type of vibe.
Brittany (Guest)
Exactly.
Tom Schwartz
Okay, listen, if there is a season three, hypothetically, what do you want to tell your season three self right now?
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, my season three self? Just be who you are. Don't, like, get in the drama, which I already don't. I know sometimes that gets us in trouble, Tom.
Brittany Cartwright
I know.
Brittany (Guest)
Listen, we are kindred spirits.
Tom Schwartz
We are diplomatic. I don't like being put like. People say we ride fences. I've been accused of not having a spine, of being an invertebrate. I have a spine.
Brittany (Guest)
I mean, I get told the same thing.
Tom Schwartz
I think. I think we have big hearts.
Brittany Cartwright
And I think sometimes I just want
Brittany (Guest)
everybody to get along me, at the end of the day, I just want everybody to love each other. I like, I'm so blessed that I have so many friends, and I just wish that they liked each other too, you know?
Tom Schwartz
Yeah.
Brittany (Guest)
And that gets me in trouble sometimes because people are watching and they're like, pick a side, do this, do that. And I'm just like, oh, I can't. I've already got so much going on in my life. I just cannot. Like, if I was done with all of my. Every single time that my friends got into a fight, if I, like, cut them out, I would have no friends.
Brittany Cartwright
Exactly.
Brittany (Guest)
No friends.
Tom Schwartz
I love that.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
And I know, don't I? It's the biggest cliche ever. But don't mistake our kindness for weakness.
Brittany (Guest)
Exactly. I am not weak.
Tom Schwartz
We're getting tattoos I am not.
Brittany (Guest)
Let's do it together. Season three, Tom. Season three. We're getting tattoos. Don't mistake our kindness for weakness. Wait, where?
Tom Schwartz
It's the new live laugh love.
Brittany (Guest)
Where?
Tom Schwartz
Yeah, probably lower back.
Brittany (Guest)
No, I already have a lower back. Worst mistake of my life. I turned 18 and I got a lower back tattoo.

you turned 18, you got a lower back tattoo, then you immediately applied at Hooters. Let's talk about it. Let's do a little time travel. Can you take us back? Take us back to when you first started at Hooters. I think it was in kind of the glory days.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, my gosh. Oh, gosh. When did I start at Hooters?
Tom Schwartz
I'm going somewhere with this, I think. Okay, so I know the perception of a Hooters girl, like, what people think about it, the stereotypes.
Brittany Cartwright
You know what I mean?
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
But, like, every woman I've ever known who's worked at Hooters and I can think of five off the top of my head who are dear friends, are incredibly successful, driven, Also feminists, too.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
It wasn't like, yes. Some people might look from the outside and be like, listen, how could you work there?
Brittany Cartwright
They objectify you.
Tom Schwartz
It's degrading as a woman. But the thing.
Brittany (Guest)
Some of my best friends that I still have to this day, we work together at Hooters.
Brittany Cartwright
I just open a beer.
Brittany (Guest)
I know. You just open a m. I love it.
Brittany Cartwright
No Coors Light.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, Coors Light.
Tom Schwartz
But you were saying. Sorry. You were saying.
Brittany (Guest)
Some of my very best friends that I still have to this day, I met at Hooters. It was like a sorority, almost like those were like my sisters.
Brittany Cartwright
It's a.
Tom Schwartz
It's a special bond because, listen, okay,
Brittany Cartwright
some of the guys, some of the
Tom Schwartz
clientele are lecherous and creepy and whatnot. But, like, in all. All the girls said the same thing. For the most part, the clientele was harmless. But the creepy guys, the. They found a way to exploit them for stacks of cash, and they laughed all the way to the bank.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah. I mean, that was a very good paying job for me. I mean, I don't know I just loved it. I have no, like, no ill will ever towards Hooters. I'm sorry. I just don't. And I know a lot of people are like, oh, God, whatever, blah, blah. I'm like, no, I fucking love that place. And I still love it.
Tom Schwartz
Okay. I love it, too.
Brittany (Guest)
I was induced to the hole in fame. Like, is it cool called induced? No, no, no. Not inducted.
Brittany Cartwright
Inducted.
Brittany (Guest)
I was inducted.
Tom Schwartz
I made Britney take a shot. And I'm sorry for that, because I know you haven't been drinking that much, but I said, brittany, will you take a shot? And you're like, hell, yeah.
Brittany (Guest)
Wait. Induced pregnancy. Inducted hall of Fame.
Tom Schwartz
No, we got it.
Brittany (Guest)
So I was inducted to the hall of fame in 2019 for Hooters hall of Fame. I got to, like, judge the. The pageants and, like, do all that stuff. Kristen flew with me to Clearwater. It was amazing.
Brittany Cartwright
I remember.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
That was around the time that I got a VIP card.
Brittany Cartwright
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
So when you get a Hooters VIP card at level, you get free food.
Brittany Cartwright
It doesn't pay for booze.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
But you get free food. And, of course, you have to leave a nice tip, which we always did.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, my God. The nicest tips.
Brittany Cartwright
I, I.
Brittany (Guest)
But everybody should thank me for that. Yes. Jax would always be like, oh, it was because I always said that I love Hooters. I was like, no, sorry. I'm not trying to say that. But I was like, oh, hell no. No, no, no. I'm Hooters hall of Fame.
Jake Stauch
You agree.
Tom Schwartz
You agree that a Hooters food is underrated?
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, I love, like, my favorite. Okay. My Hooters order is. My Hooters orders is breaded flats, like, hot with ranch dressing, and I love a side salad with ranch. Their side salads are really good at Hooters.
Tom Schwartz
They're not bad.
Brittany (Guest)
They have, like, the shrimp thing. That's really good, too. Yeah, they're crab legs that are really good.
Tom Schwartz
You mean the buffalo fried shrimp?
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah, the buffalo fried shrimp. So I get my wings in hot buffalo fried shrimp and medium just because, like, you know, switch it up a little bit.
Tom Schwartz
See, this is what the people wanted to hear. This is what we sat down for today.
Brittany (Guest)
My Hooters order.
Tom Schwartz
You know, Brit, I just. I just. I. I just. I remember the first time I ever saw Hooters. I think I was probably, like, 15. It was in the mid-90s, and it was at the Mall of America. And when I saw it, I walked by, and, you know, the hormones are flowing. I'm starting to appreciate women 14, 15. And I. I felt. I blushed. I felt like I was looking into the deja vu with, like, you know, window doors. I. It felt like I felt guilty for looking in.
Brittany (Guest)
Wait.
Tom Schwartz
And it's so, like.
Brittany (Guest)
So, listen, we wore shorts. We wore. See, it's weird because I say Schwartz, like, Schwartz, but it's like, that's just how I talk. I've had so many people. I'm like, talking about, like, wearing a pair of shorts, and they're like, you're. You're short, and I'm like, shorts. Anywho, we wore shorts, and we were like, tank tops, and we wore stockings underneath. Like, I'm sorry. At sir, we were much less.
Tom Schwartz
You could fit the dress famously.
Brittany (Guest)
Whenever I worked at Hooters, I don't know what they're doing now.
Tom Schwartz
Like, you know, Brittany, I don't know
Brittany Cartwright
if you've heard, but there's so.
Tom Schwartz
So, yes, they filed for bankrupt, bankruptcy, and they are restructuring, and apparently the new ownership intends to move away from the restaurant and make it more family oriented. Thoughts? Feelings?
Brittany (Guest)
Ooh. I mean, I love it.
Tom Schwartz
I think so, too.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
I think. I think a lot of the purists will balk and probably protest, but I think, listen, I think it'll still keep its same charm, and it will keep
Brittany (Guest)
its same charm, and, oh, God, I would love to own one one day.
Tom Schwartz
Like, a girl can dream. Yes, a girl can dream.
Brittany (Guest)
A girl can dream. I would almost, like. I would love that. But, you know, just, like, it's not like, whenever I worked there and I had to wear, like, these little outfits that I didn't, like, want to, like, I felt good. It did. It wasn't, like, against my will or anything. You know, I was happy.
Tom Schwartz
Well, on that note, I will say, like, talking to my other girls who've worked there, like, if someone was lecturing them about that, like, how it's setting women back up, like, 100 years or something, they would say, you, my body, my choice. I make a ton of money, and I love it. And it's a. It's a means to an end.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah. And, yeah, like, have fun. Like I said, I met some of my best friends there. You know that Jasmine and Michelle both worked at Hooters.
Tom Schwartz
What? Yeah, get them over here.
Brittany (Guest)
Right, Jasmine. Jasmine, come here really fast. Just really quick. Just really quick.
Tom Schwartz
Wait, Jasmine. You guys, this is breaking. You worked at Hooters?
Jasmine (Hooters Girl)
Yes, I was a Hooters girl in College. And Route 22 in Union, New Jersey.
Tom Schwartz
Favorite meal at Hooters.
Jasmine (Hooters Girl)
Ooh, I love naked wings. Ten piece naked wings. And I like the steamed shrimp, too.
Brittany (Guest)
What flavor of naked wings? Hot.
State Farm Advertiser
Just.
Brittany (Guest)
Okay, see, I was breaded. I was breaded all the way.
State Farm Advertiser
I didn't like the bread.
Jasmine (Hooters Girl)
I like the naked wings.
Tom Schwartz
Talking about how the perception is that it objectifies women and it's degrading, but every. Every woman I've ever met who worked there found it empowering or.
Brittany (Guest)
Yes.
Tom Schwartz
If anything, they're exploiting creepy men for stacks of cash.
Jasmine (Hooters Girl)
100. And, you know, I thought that too. And then my dad came in. My family came in for dinner once, and my dad was, like, so proud of me. He's like, you're killing it. You're like, you're such a good server. And it was. There was no, like, sexual thing going on. He was like, I was running the place. So you're running this place? Like. I know.
Brittany (Guest)
Running the place, too. Yeah. I was just like, you know, it
Jasmine (Hooters Girl)
was not anything sexually. I think people think that because it's like Hooters or tits or whatever. But, like, no, it was like, you know, we're just normal girls just. Just trying to make some money. And you have conversation with people like you would do at any restaurant.
Tom Schwartz
Also, I found in the one in Tallahassee, if you. With the girls there, the guys, the bouncers would grab you by the scruffy of your neck and throw you out.
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
What?
Brittany (Guest)
Wait.
Tom Schwartz
What if any creepy guys object? Like, tried to grab.
Jasmine (Hooters Girl)
Yeah.
Shopify Advertiser
100.
Jasmine (Hooters Girl)
Yeah, they protected us. They were very like, we don't play that game. This is not the spot to, like, pick up women. Like, yeah, we have regulars. Of course you have somebody who comes in, but they were never, like, creepy and weird. Yeah, you know, it's. Sometimes people tend to talk to us.
Brittany (Guest)
Michelle.
Jasmine (Hooters Girl)
Oh, yeah. Michelle was a Hooters girl.
Brittany (Guest)
Come here.
Tom Schwartz
Wait, wait. I got a question. I got a question for both of you real quick before you go. Brittany, Jasmine. Okay, would you rather. I just came to me. Would you rather relive all of season two? You got to relive the whole thing over all the feelings, the highs, the lows. Start from the beginning or work one full year back at Hooters.
Brittany (Guest)
Work one full year back at Hooters.
Jasmine (Hooters Girl)
Full year, Hooters. 100%. I had so much fun there.
Brittany (Guest)
Me, Michelle.
Tom Schwartz
Okay, Michelle.
Brittany (Guest)
Michelle.
Tom Schwartz
Michelle's entering the chat. You guys should just take over.
Brittany (Guest)
Actually, I told him that you were a Hooters girl, too.
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
Oh, yeah. Like, six years.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
In San Diego.
Tom Schwartz
Do you guys remember the most amount of tips you ever made in one night?
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
My average was, like, 900 a day.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, yeah. I would make over a thousand because I had regulars.
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
Yeah, yeah, of course. You got to build the regulars.
Brittany (Guest)
I would work, like, month. Like, morning, tonight. Like, I would do doubles. So I would do. You know, I started off as a server and then became a bartender, and then I would work, like, every Wednesday, which was wings day. So, yeah, all you can eat wings. So I was a bartender. And, like, back in Kentucky at that time, like, you had to tip your bartender out 10%. So if somebody made, like, a hundred dollars, they had to, like, tip you 10 or blah, blah, blah. But I also had, like, a full bar of 40 people every single time. So I did doubles Wednesdays, double Saturdays.
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
I loved it. And I did it until I sold my first house, and I was like, should I still work at Hooters? And finally I was like, okay, I'm done.
Brittany Cartwright
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
It has a bad reputation. The perception isn't great, but every woman I've ever known there made a ton of cash and parlayed it into a very successful career. Sales, whatever. Their own businesses.
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
Oh, if I wasn't a Hooters girl, I'd be ten times more quiet. Like, it just forced me. Like, you have to have random conversations with people, and then you make a lot of girlfriends.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah. Best friends.
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
Yeah.
Brittany (Guest)
Like, for life.

ask you what your favorite meal at Hooters is?
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
What did I eat back then? Let me think.
Jasmine (Hooters Girl)
What?
Brittany (Guest)
Did I have bad food?
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
Yes, I do. I'm trying to think. What was it? Oh, I like the kids grilled cheese.
Brittany (Guest)
Kids.
Jasmine (Hooters Girl)
Kids.
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
Grilled cheese was good with fries.
Brittany (Guest)
What about what. What would be your, like, wing choice?
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
What did I think? I like, like the lemon pepper.
Brittany (Guest)
Okay.
Michelle (Hooters Girl)
Yeah. Breaded.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah, I like breaded with ranch. Yes, ranch. Always.
Tom Schwartz
Well, thank you, by the way. Thank you for your testimony. We were talking about them, you know, filing for bankruptcy, the restructuring. But still, we think it's underrated. But thank you. Thank you, Michelle. All right, enough Hooters.
Brittany (Guest)
Brit.
Tom Schwartz
Honestly, I don't really have that much else to say. I just wanted to sit down and see you laugh.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, I love you.
Tom Schwartz
It's nice to see you laugh. Take a load off. And I hope you're treating yourself.
Brittany (Guest)
I am.
Tom Schwartz
You are.
Brittany Cartwright
I know.
Tom Schwartz
Well, you got your aura. It's strong right now. You're very sparkly. Yes, sparkly, by the way. Okay, there's this little thing I do. Okay, we're almost done.
Brittany Cartwright
Don't worry.
Brittany (Guest)
I'm good. I'm good.
Tom Schwartz
So, like, I was obsessed with Inside the Actors Studio. Do you know what that is?
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
With James Lipton.
Brittany (Guest)
Yes.
Tom Schwartz
And he did this questionnaire at the end with Bernard Prevot. I've been doing it with Bravo Legends. You're officially a Bravo legend.
Brittany (Guest)
Am I?
Tom Schwartz
Yes.
Brittany (Guest)
Am I really officially a Bravo legend?
Tom Schwartz
And if you're cool, let's do it. If you're cool, I'd like to do a questionnaire with you.
Brittany (Guest)
Okay.
Brittany Cartwright
Okay.
Tom Schwartz
Ready?
Brittany Cartwright
Without further ado, again, shout out to
Tom Schwartz
the late, great James Lipton, Bernard Pavo.
Brittany Cartwright
This is a little remix. Detox Retox.
Brittany (Guest)
Okay.
Tom Schwartz
By the way, we're retoxin.
Brittany (Guest)
All right.
Jasmine (Hooters Girl)
We're.
Tom Schwartz
We had a few. I had a few shots. What of it?
Brittany (Guest)
Okay, Britt, what of it?
Tom Schwartz
Number one.
Brittany (Guest)
All right.
Tom Schwartz
What is your favorite way to detox? No, no, just to take care of yourself.
Brittany Cartwright
Go to the spa. Your favorite way to detox.
Tom Schwartz
Unwind. Nourish your mind, body, soul.
Brittany (Guest)
Okay. I think I need to do that more. I really don't take care of myself that much. I'm a mom first, and going through everything I've been through, like, it's just, like, it's hard for me to accept help and put myself first. But at times, whenever I do have that for myself, you know, I like to be with my friends. Like, today, like, today was, like, meant for to, like, be with all my friends, but also, like, I needed that, you know?
Tom Schwartz
Yeah.
Brittany (Guest)
I feel like I can do better at that. Honestly.
Tom Schwartz
I think we all can do a little better. Get. Give ourselves a little pat on the back.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
Take it a little easier on ourselves. Okay. If you could only pick one vice for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Brittany (Guest)
One vice. Oh, gosh. Like what?
Tom Schwartz
Probably a tequila shot.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, gosh. But would it be tequila over, like, food?
Tom Schwartz
Yeah. No, food's a vice.
Brittany Cartwright
Yeah, it can be.
Brittany (Guest)
I love a crab boil. I am obsessed with crab legs and crab boils. Like, it's been weird. That's what I'm saying. Mukbang has, like, been mukbang. Like, have you watched that?
Tom Schwartz
Yeah. I love it.
Brittany (Guest)
It's insane.
Tom Schwartz
I love it.
Brittany (Guest)
But I Love a crab boil. Like, I don't know.
Tom Schwartz
Okay.
Brittany (Guest)
Crap, I feel like I could do. Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
Okay, Brit, what was your first job?
Brittany (Guest)
My first job ever. Okay, so obviously I was a babysitter for a while, and then Buffalo Wild Wings was my first job.
Tom Schwartz
B Dub three.
Brittany (Guest)
No, no, no. Actually, Hollister was my first job.
Tom Schwartz
Oh, my God.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah, Hollister was my first job. I worked there for like, three weeks. That's it. And then Buffalo Wild Wings and then Hooters right after that.
Tom Schwartz
Back in the day, Hollister was like. It was a.
Brittany Cartwright
It's okay.
Tom Schwartz
It was a prestigious job to have back in the early 2000s. Yeah, like, you were pretty much a model to be in there.
Brittany (Guest)
It was crazy. And then. And then, like, the Abercrombie guys, like, kept trying to, like, recruit me to work at Abercrombie, and I was like, already at Hollister.
Tom Schwartz
You were a hot commodity.
Brittany (Guest)
That was funny.
Tom Schwartz
Okay, that was your first job. What was your worst job?
Brittany (Guest)
I haven't had that, but that. The. Those are, like, all my jobs. Honestly, like, I worked at. I was a babysitter for a long time. I worked at Buffalo, Mommy's. I worked at Hollister, I worked at Hooters, and then. Oh, I worked at Tin Roof, Cincinnati. Like, none of them were bad jobs.
Tom Schwartz
Listen, I'm just like. You say one.
Brittany Cartwright
That's horrible.
Tom Schwartz
Say I hated it. No, it made me miserable. It ruined my. I'm just kidding.
Brittany (Guest)
I think Hollister would probably be like, out of all those. Like, I didn't like Hollister.
Tom Schwartz
Yeah.
Brittany (Guest)
Cuz I had to drive 45 minutes to get to the mall. And I was a cheerleader and, like, had practice and. And stuff. And I was like, this ain't for me.
Tom Schwartz
That's a brutal commute. Okay, you don't have to answer the name if you don't want to. Who was your first kiss or when?
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, my God. My first kiss. Oh, Lord. I was probably in, like, kindergarten or something. Like, gosh, what was his name? Eric, I think.
Tom Schwartz
Shout out to Eric. Eric, if you're out there.
Brittany (Guest)
We kissed underneath the table and got in trouble.
Tom Schwartz
Okay. What turns you on creatively, spiritually, emotionally? That's just gets you excited about life.
Brittany (Guest)
What turns me on?
Tom Schwartz
Like, not sexually. I'm saying, like, what gets you excited about life lately?
Brittany (Guest)
Okay. Just like. Like for me or like other people? For me. Okay. I just think that I have a brand new outlook on life. Like, I have learned so much from my past 10 years of my life, and I'm just growing and learning every single day. And my son, like, are you kidding me? My son, like, Cruz, he is the most.
Tom Schwartz
He's an angel.
Brittany (Guest)
Amazing thing that's ever happened. So, like, our autism journey has taught me so much, and he's just. He's just wonderful. And seeing the world through his eyes is, like, beautiful. Like, people don't understand. I feel like. So I'm going to continue, like, spreading the word and, you know, trying to be a positive advocate for autism, but there's just so much. There's so much that I'm learning right now.
Brittany Cartwright
Brett, that's beautiful.
Tom Schwartz
Okay, what turns you off? Or just, like, make, like, you. Puts you off? Like, gives you the ick?
Brittany (Guest)
Just drama.
Tom Schwartz
You're in the wrong line of business.
Brittany (Guest)
I know. I love my friends, but I hate the drama that comes with sometimes. But, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's.
Tom Schwartz
That's all. That's all you had to say.
Brittany (Guest)
I think, like, social media trolls is, like, the hardest part of what we do, you know?
Tom Schwartz
Do you still find yourself peeking at Reddit threads?
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, I don't look at Reddit. Reddit. Like, there's no possible way I'm looking at Reddit at all. It's awful. The lies and just, like, straight up, like, flowers, false stories that have been said about me on there. It's weird. And then people believe it.
Brittany Cartwright
I know.
Brittany (Guest)
And it's. It's just crazy. So. No, I think that that's the hardest part. The hate the trolls.
Brittany Cartwright
Okay.
Tom Schwartz
What's your favorite curse word?
Brittany (Guest)
My favorite curse word? What do I say? I mean, I try not to cuss that lot. That much, but did I cuss a lot tonight? I don't know.
Tom Schwartz
I think I hear you say a decent amount.
Brittany (Guest)
Okay, that's probably my favorite one then. Yeah, I guess.
Tom Schwartz
No, you don't cuss a lot.
Brittany (Guest)
I don't. I try not to. I like that my mom hates it when I cuss.
Brittany Cartwright
Sorry, mama.
Tom Schwartz
Okay. What sound or noise relaxes you?
Brittany (Guest)
What sound annoys me?
Tom Schwartz
Oh, no, no. Relaxes you?
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, Relaxes me. What sound relaxes me? What sound does relax me? I wish I knew an answer right away to say to you.
Tom Schwartz
Well, I could probably answer for you. I feel like the sound of your friends having a good time.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah. Like right now.
Tom Schwartz
Let's turn this up real quick. Yeah, that sound.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah. All my friends having a good time. That does enjoy. That does, like, bring me happiness.
Tom Schwartz
Harmony.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah.
Brittany Cartwright
Yeah.
Tom Schwartz
Okay. What sound or noise do you hate?
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, my gosh. When a fire alarm is going off, the worst and you can't figure out how to fix it. And then it's just, like, continues on for weeks and weeks and weeks, and you try.
Tom Schwartz
Oh, you mean a smoke alarm?
Brittany (Guest)
A smoke alarm, yeah.
Tom Schwartz
It's one of the worst sounds in the world.
Brittany (Guest)
And it's like, beep. And then, like, three minutes later, beep. It's so annoying.
Brittany Cartwright
It's a form of.
Tom Schwartz
I feel like it grates on my soul.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, my gosh, I hate it. I hate it so much.
Tom Schwartz
Okay, what line from Bravo VPR Valley. Whatever. What line do people most remember you by or shout out to you rotten hail.
Brittany Cartwright
Sorry.
Tom Schwartz
We all knew it was coming. Okay, what profession other than your own
Brittany Cartwright
would you like to attempt?
Brittany (Guest)
Okay, so if I was doing something now, it'd be like, party planning or something like that. Like, I just love party planning. I love. I just love it.
Tom Schwartz
You'd be a really good, like, wedding event coordinator.
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, my God. I think I would, like, thrive and little kid parties, you know?
Tom Schwartz
Yes.
Brittany (Guest)
Like, I just, like. I love it.
Tom Schwartz
What profession would you not like to attempt?
Brittany (Guest)
A plumber. I ain't cleaning.
Tom Schwartz
We need them. There's a premium on being plumbers right now.
Brittany (Guest)
Yeah, well, electricians, thank you for what you do, but it ain't for me.
Tom Schwartz
Okay, Brett, let's get back to the party. But one more question.
Brittany (Guest)
Okay.
Tom Schwartz
If heaven exists.
Brittany (Guest)
It does.
Tom Schwartz
I think it does, too. What would you like to see as your first meal and drink waiting for you at the Pearly Games?
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, my first meal and drink just like this. Well, first off, I would love for my family members that have passed to be bringing it to me, which I feel like will happen. But will they bring me a plate of Hooters? I don't know. I'm like, my favorite foods. Like, if I was doing top three, it'd be, like, Hooters, breaded hot wings, crab boils and biscuits and gravy. Yeah, like, those are my, like, top three favorite foods.
Tom Schwartz
What are you gonna wash it down with?
Brittany (Guest)
Oh, gosh.
Tom Schwartz
It doesn't have to be. It can be alcohol. Not alcohol. It could be Diet Coke.
Brittany (Guest)
Okay. If I was taking a shot, which I'm not gonna do that in heaven. Love you, Lord.
Tom Schwartz
No. You can take shots in heaven.
Brittany (Guest)
No.
Tom Schwartz
There's no such thing as a hangover.
Brittany (Guest)
Everybody knows that. I love costume because Blanco, it's not a secret. With Orange Slice. That's my favorite. No mixed drinks. No nothing other than that. Like, I'm. I drink water a lot. And I like Coke Zero. I like SunKiss Zero. I like Dr. Pepper. Diet Dr. Pepper. Like, I don't know which one would be my favorite.
Brittany Cartwright
You can have it all.
Tom Schwartz
It's.
Brittany (Guest)
I like milk.
Tom Schwartz
Nothing is off limits.
Brittany (Guest)
I like milk too.
Tom Schwartz
Well, aside from sinning, but yeah. No, I'm kidding. Let's get back to it. This is fun. I. I just wanted to shoot the. Love you.
Brittany (Guest)
Love you.
Tom Schwartz
I'm very happy for you.
Brittany (Guest)
Yes.
Tom Schwartz
And I'm excited for new beginnings and everything that's in store.
Brittany (Guest)
Thank you.
Tom Schwartz
And I don't really know if I. Oh, yes. Let's go. Okay, let's wrap it up. Thank you, Brett.
Brittany (Guest)
All right, thanks.
Tom Schwartz
Bye.
Brittany Cartwright
Woo. Well, shit, that was fun. I'm in Canada now, by the way. I just wanted to thank Brittany, Jasmine, Michelle, Dodie. Who else was there? I don't know. I don't remember who else chimed in. I was a little lit. I mean, responsibly, but still, I was letting loose a little, treating myself, and I think we accomplished our mission.
Tom Schwartz
I feel like the majority of the
Brittany Cartwright
conversation was about Hooters, but I think we had some laughs. That's all I really wanted to do. Like I said, just give her a big hug and I had a great time. What did we learn about Hooters? Well, working there, it's a choice. You see someone working there, don't judge them. Don't take away their agency. It's not a trap. They go and they. They hustle. They monetize their charisma. I respect the hustle, by the way. I really genuinely like Hooters food. We can talk about it, you know, but as a dude, if you say you go to Hooters for the food,
Tom Schwartz
it kind of sounds like the equivalent
Brittany Cartwright
of saying you look at Playboy for the articles, which are amazing, actually. I have a stack of like late 70s, 80s, early 90s playboys. And the articles are fascinating. It's like traveling back in time. It's fun to see, you know, take a little peek into the past and see how far we've come socially and also be reminded of how far we still have to go. I like to think we're headed in the right direction. Right. I think everything is gonna be okay. I think. I hope. I was at the Black Tavern on Broadway last night in Saskatoon. By the way, their crew is amazing. Thank you for the merch and the coconut tequila. I left before the freaky bingo where they give away things like dildos and all kinds of crazy stuff. But yeah, yeah, before I left, I saw that. That little poster with the cat dangling and it says, hang in there, and I think that's my message. To you as we end this episode. Hang in there. You might be thinking. Come on, Schwartz, that is trite. Okay? Don't hit me with that cliche shit. No, it's not. It's stoic. Hang in there. The cat's not saying everything's gonna be okay. Take a chill pill. No, it's like, hey, no matter how hard life gets, I'm not letting go. I'm hanging on for D. Dear life. I don't know much about Buddhism, but I think there's a pop of Buddhist nature in there. Right? This too shall pass. Okay, so thanks again for hanging out, guys. Appreciate you. And I'll say it one more time. Hang in there. At first, I didn't think it was real. I woke up to this blinding light, and I was transported to another place. Pluto tv. Then I heard a voice.
Brittany (Guest)
Come with me if you want to live.

This episode of "Detox Retox" delivers the perfect blend of laughter, vulnerable real talk, and nostalgia as Tom Schwartz hosts a lighthearted, restorative hangout with Brittany Cartwright and friends by the pool. With guest appearances from fellow former Hooters girls Jasmine Good and Michelle Saniei, the group dives into themes of self-care, emotional wellness, challenges of reality TV, and—true to title—a spirited deep-dive into the Hooters experience: its misconceptions, empowerment, unbeatable friendships, and unapologetic hustle. The episode is a “fluff piece,” focused on fun and camaraderie, with a strong undercurrent of resilience and positivity.
A rapid-fire Q&A with Brittany reveals her self-care habits, vices, job history, life perspectives, and more:
This episode is exactly what “Detox Retox” promises: the mindful meets the mischievous. The tone is playful, candid, warm, and often irreverently funny—Brittany and Tom are quick to poke fun at themselves and each other, while Jasmine and Michelle bring in more depth about the realities of the “Hooters hustle.” There’s vulnerability but always levity, underscored by genuine affection.
For listeners who missed it, this episode is an uplifting, candid blend of nostalgia, healing, and hilarity—an ode to odd jobs, reality TV resilience, and the beautiful messiness of friendship.
