Steven Shapiro
So many people like Jack Doherty and so many people like that Heston James who like don't care about the repercussion of anything. They're just like, I'm gonna do anything and everything for the view and that's it. And I just. That's never really been me, you know what I mean?
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
Like I'm not gonna piss someone off and like make them feel like shit. Just get a view.
Interviewer
Foreign.
Here, unfortunately just busted out of the tournament, man.
Steven Shapiro
So brutal.
Interviewer
And you were, you were in the lead at your table, right?
Steven Shapiro
I was, dude, I was killing it. You were chilling and then like that gone.
Interviewer
Did you get rivered or what happened?
Steven Shapiro
Sure. I don't even know the terminology.
Interviewer
Rivers when you're up on the fourth card and then the fifth card comes and you lose.
Steven Shapiro
Okay, sure. Got river. Yeah.
Interviewer
Can't do much about that, man.
Steven Shapiro
We both had queens, but I had two. She had a four just out. Damn. I know. Such is life.
Interviewer
You filming any pranks while you're out here in Vegas?
Steven Shapiro
Filmed a couple.
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
Doing some stuff for Instagram. So all short form and. Yeah, it's been nice.
Interviewer
If you go down to the old strip, you'll find some interesting people out there.
Steven Shapiro
Oh, I bet. Yeah.
Interviewer
Have you ever been downtown there?
Steven Shapiro
We've been downtown. It's is actually pretty sick, to be honest with you.
Interviewer
The led.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah, the whole thing is like lit up. It's cool.
Interviewer
Yeah, it's a good spot to. You never know who you're going to meet there. Fair, you know?
Steven Shapiro
Yeah.
Interviewer
What's been the latest videos. I know you're filming nonstop.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah. So we've been doing a lot of give back videos, which is cool.
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
So most recent one, we pretended to give people tickets and once they were kind of like freaking out about getting the ticket because it was like for ridiculous reasons. So it was like, okay. They showed up to the gas station with a tank that was less than 25%. Like what give them 500 bucks. So, you know, they're like, I gotta first take their mind and just be like, what is happening? And then, you know, make them happy.
Interviewer
Nice. What's the most you've given out to someone?
Steven Shapiro
Like, in a single person or a single video?
Interviewer
Yeah, I guess both.
Steven Shapiro
Single video. I think we've done like four or five thousand, and then single person, probably like a thousand. Fifteen hundred.
Interviewer
Damn, that's a good amount. For just doing nothing.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah, for existing.
Interviewer
Yeah, for sure. Have you seen the new Apple Pay Pranks?
Steven Shapiro
Oh, do where they're going up and making the sound?
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
It's brutal.
Interviewer
Those are hilarious there. But you're like the opposite. You're giving the money.
Steven Shapiro
Exactly. Have you seen the one where the guy's like, are we cool to curse?
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
Okay. The guy, I think his name is Heston James.
Interviewer
I haven't seen that one.
Steven Shapiro
He basically, like, goes into any sort of like, Walmart, Petco, anything. He just goes, oh, my God, what the fuck? But he, like, screams it.
Interviewer
No, I haven't seen that one.
Steven Shapiro
You haven't? I. Dude, I got to show you. Dude, they, like, freak out. He's like, oh, my God. He screams hella loud. So they come up to him like, what are you doing? Screaming? He's like, oh, it wasn't me. Then he has a backup screamer. When they're talking to him, that person screams, oh, I got to say, like, oh, shit. It's. Yeah.
Interviewer
Have you seen the. The. But my income ones?
Steven Shapiro
Yeah.
Interviewer
Yo, those are gold.
Steven Shapiro
Those are crazy.
Interviewer
You got to, like, give people props for coming up with something like that.
Steven Shapiro
100%. It's that one dude.
Interviewer
Yeah, he's hilarious. How do people keep falling for that?
Steven Shapiro
I don't know.
Interviewer
Like, I feel like I would not fall for that.
Steven Shapiro
No. No chance. No.
Interviewer
Like, maybe. Cause I'm exposed to it. I wonder if it happened for the first time to me, if I would actually do it. But I don't think I would.
Steven Shapiro
No. No chance. That's a problem. You're exposed to it. I think, like, 99% of people are just not exposed. And they're like, just. I don't want to say gullible. I feel like gullible is a harsh word. Yeah, but they're just living their life thinking that people are just, like, telling the truth. You know what I mean? And then next thing you know, they're saying, but my income. Or come in my butt.
Interviewer
Because they gotta say backwards.
Steven Shapiro
Exactly.
Interviewer
Yeah, but yours are more just. You're more so helping people. You're not even Pranking them at this point. Right. Have you kind of shifted your technique? I guess. Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
It's all just giving back to the community.
Interviewer
What made you want to shift? Was it getting kind of sketchy? Like were you getting people mad at you or.
Steven Shapiro
No, not so much. It was just like I got to a point where I was like, all right, let me take a look at like the current scope of humanity. It's like so many people are just like fucking around with people.
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
It's like I've had my fair share of that, but like let me transform that into actually like doing some, some good with my platform.
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
So then we started giving away money.
Interviewer
Well, you made the right move because the people that stuck with the pranking ended up like Vitaly. Yeah. And he's going through right now facing some time and it looks like he might actually get some time.
Steven Shapiro
It's actually crazy.
Interviewer
Yeah. When you travel internationally, you don't know the rules there and it's just seems kind of risky, right?
Steven Shapiro
100%. But I mean it's also on you to figure out what those rules are.
Interviewer
And yeah, also I think the whole livestreaming thing can go down a dangerous road if you're constantly trying to do crazier and crazier things.
Steven Shapiro
100% because you're trying to like one up. Like that's the whole game is just one upping everything. Yeah. So it's, it's dangerous.
Interviewer
That's how you end up like Jack Doherty.
Steven Shapiro
Too true.
Interviewer
And he's been on the show and yeah. Shout out to him.
Steven Shapiro
He's. He's actually killing it. Like when you really think about it, he's killing it. He's done some not so great things that I'd like, I don't really respect.
Interviewer
But at the end, the tri light.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
From Therasage is no joke. Medical grade red and near infrared light with three frequencies per light. Deep healing, real results and totally portable. It's legit photo biomodulation tech in a flexible on body panel. This is the Trilite from Therasage and it's next level red light therapy. It's got 118 high powered polychromatic lights each delivering three healing frequencies. Red and near infrared from 580 to 980 nanometers. Optimal penetration, enhanced energy, skin rejuvenation, pain relief, better performance, quicker recovery and so much more. Therassage has been leading the game for over 25 years and this panel is FDA listed and USB powered. Ultra soft and flexible and ultra portable on body red Light therapy I use daily and I take it everywhere I travel. This is the Thera 03 ozone module from Therasoge. It's a portable ozone and negative ion therapy. In one. It boosts oxygen, clears and sanitizes the air, and even helps your mood. It's a total game changer at home or on the go. This little device is the Thera O3 ozone module by Therasock and it's one of my favorite wellness tools. In the sauna, it boosts ozone absorption through your skin up to 10 times, oxygenating your blood and supporting deep detox. Outside the sauna, it purifies the air, killing germs, bacteria, viruses and mold. And it improves mood and sleep. Negative ion therapy. It's compact, rechargeable, and perfect for travel, planes, offices, hotel rooms, you name it. It's like carrying clean energy wherever you go. This is the Thera H2 go from Therasosh. The only bottle with molecular hydrogen, structured water and red light. In one. It hydrates, energizes and detoxes water upgraded. The Thera H2 go from Therasoge isn't just a water bottle. It's next level hydration. It infuses your water with molecular hydroge. Powerful antioxidants. Out there, that means less oxidative stress, more energy, and faster recovery. But here's what makes it stand out. It's the only bottle that also structures your water and adds red light to supercharge it. It's sleek, portable, and honestly, I don't.
Interviewer
Go anywhere without it.
Steven Shapiro
And they killing it financially.
Interviewer
Financially, sure, yeah, I'll admit that. But just ethically, I guess.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah. Gets a little dicey.
Interviewer
Yeah. When you're crashing cars while filming it.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah, for sure.
Interviewer
But you stay out of that. That beef stuff, right? You don't really seem to have any Internet beefs, you know, dramas.
Steven Shapiro
Unless you think there's somebody who I should be with.
Interviewer
You should call someone out, man. But you got a problem with her now?
Steven Shapiro
I don't even know you. You tell me.
Interviewer
No, you're just a wholesome guy in Arizona.
Steven Shapiro
I do what I can, man.
Interviewer
You know, I respect that. Because a lot of people rely on drama and stuff, for sure. But that's also a dangerous road.
Steven Shapiro
100%.
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
Just like you constantly. It's the same thing. You constantly have to like one up what you've done in, you know, before and just always calling someone out. It's tiring, man.
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
Just want to live your life.
Interviewer
Yeah. But these days there's a lot of competition, right? To get views on social media. You're fighting for the spot.
Steven Shapiro
Yep.
Interviewer
It's not what it used to be. Back when. How long ago did you start?
Steven Shapiro
It's actually been like six, seven years, so.
Interviewer
And I'm sure it was easier back then to get views. Right.
Steven Shapiro
100 now there's just so many people doing it. So many people who are like, so many people like Jack Doherty and so many people like that Hessian James who like don't care about the repercussion of anything. They're just like, I'm going to do anything and everything for the View and that's it. And I just. That's never really been me. You know what I mean?
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
Like, I'm not going to piss someone off and like make them feel like just to get a view. I'd rather like get less views. But have somebody walk away and be like, okay, that was like either strange or hell yeah, I got some money. That's great. You know what I mean? Then piss someone off and get tons of.
Interviewer
Yeah. And back then, six, seven years. I was before TikTok. I was before shorts, reels.
Steven Shapiro
Short. Like the whole short form game is brand new to me.
Interviewer
Yeah. Have you kind of pivoted to that or do you still focus on the long form?
Steven Shapiro
We still focus on the long form. We're super lucky because our type of content, we can shoot long form and then cut it up and make it short form.
Interviewer
Kind of like podcasting.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah, exactly. We have our own clips.
Interviewer
Yeah. Clippers, man. That's everything these days.
Steven Shapiro
Crazy.
Interviewer
I got a crazy team of clippers right now.
Steven Shapiro
Yep.
Interviewer
I mean, bro, because you. I don't know if you know the whole model. You pay them per million now. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So we're just going hard with that. It's crazy. 17 year olds on Discord killing it, man. It's a whole new era. But you could, with that formula, you could almost go viral being anyone. Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
You can do anything. And I think that's also like a cool part of short form. Right. Is like, you can go viral doing anything. You can become something doing anything. I mean, like, look, I. It is what it is. I respect all of it. But like, look at the hawk to a girl.
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
She said one thing and she's like the biggest thing to ever walk this earth. You know what I mean?
Interviewer
She's out there all short form. Same with Ashton Hall.
Steven Shapiro
I actually don't even.
Interviewer
You don't know Ashton the guy, the Saratoga water on the face.
Steven Shapiro
No.
Interviewer
You didn't see this?
Steven Shapiro
No.
Interviewer
Wow.
Steven Shapiro
But that's another testament, right? It's like, there's so many people, so many creators that are doing little things, and there's also so many people consuming that. Like, I cannot know who that is. And you're like, oh, this is the biggest thing to ever, like, touch the earth.
Interviewer
Yeah. He was. He was up there with Hawk. To her. He was on her level, I'd say. But are you consuming content often like that? Are you scrolling Doom scrolling?
Steven Shapiro
I try not to, to be honest with you. Yeah, like, we'll look at content just to, like, get inspiration for ideas, but, like, overall, we're trying. Or like, I'm trying not to just, like, sit on my phone, just scroll, scroll, scroll.
Interviewer
I have to do it to look for interesting guests, for sure. Yeah. So I purpose. Yeah, I use it for business. But if I was just scrolling casually. No, that would be too much. I'd be degenerate.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah.
Interviewer
What's your creative process like? How are you coming up with videos? Is that an issue?
Steven Shapiro
It's become more of an issue than it has been in the past, for sure. Just because there's only so many ways that you can prank people. There's only so many, like, ways that you can give away money. Luckily, I have an amazing team.
Brad and Jace, who are on my team. We just. We have brainstorming sessions. They come to me and they're like, hey, this would be funny if we did X, Y and Z. And I'm like, that would be funny. And then we just all collaborate. But mostly it's like everyday conversations. We'll be just talking. We'll be like, maybe something will happen to us. Like, damn, that was actually funny. We should make that a full video. And then we just run with it.
Interviewer
That's cool. Yeah. Giving back. I mean, did you learn that from Mr. Beast? That formula of giving back?
Steven Shapiro
Mr. Beast, big dost TV.
Interviewer
That's a good one, too.
Steven Shapiro
He's a. He's a business partner of mine. We started a channel called the Daily Dropout. I don't know if you've ever seen that.
Interviewer
I probably have because I used to watch a ton of his stuff too. For sure.
Steven Shapiro
It's mostly like, Daily Dropout was his form of attempting to replicate what he had already done, but not put a face to it. And so I had started to build a following. And so he hit me up. He's like, let's start something. So, yeah, cool. He had this idea. It's like, let's replicate what I've already done. Put no face to it. Let's do it. So he's a big inspiration because he started doing all the give back videos. Well, yeah. And I mean. I mean, obviously they. They perform well, so it's. It's a double whammy. Right. Like you're doing good for the community, but also videos are performing well. You can continue to provide for your family. Yeah. All that.
Interviewer
His Klay Thompson prank is that has to be on the Mount Rushmore of it's up 100%. Goated.
Steven Shapiro
Yep.
Interviewer
I mean, that and Air Rack sneaking into venues.
Steven Shapiro
Yep.
Interviewer
That's got to be up there too.
Steven Shapiro
100%. Have you met do?
Interviewer
No, but we've DM'd.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah.
Interviewer
Yeah, I invited him on the show. Hopefully next time he's in Vegas, for.
Steven Shapiro
Sure we'll be here in August.
Interviewer
Oh, yeah. What are you doing out here for the. For August?
Steven Shapiro
Buddy's bachelor party.
Interviewer
Oh, nice. Yeah, you're about to go. I'll.
Steven Shapiro
I'll connect you guys.
Interviewer
Oh, yeah. Come on. Is he good at basketball? Because he's nasty. He's nasty?
Steven Shapiro
Yeah, he's nasty.
Interviewer
Oh, all right. It's hard to find good content creators in basketball.
Steven Shapiro
No, he's. He's nasty.
Interviewer
Okay.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah.
Interviewer
How good are you?
Steven Shapiro
Terrible.
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
So bad.
Interviewer
What's your best sport?
Steven Shapiro
Baseball.
Interviewer
Baseball?
Steven Shapiro
Yeah.
Interviewer
Damn. Did you play college?
Steven Shapiro
Didn't play college all through high school, though.
Interviewer
What was your position? Pitcher. Pitcher? Damn. Yeah, I had Trevor Bauer on the show.
Steven Shapiro
Okay, fair.
Interviewer
You know him?
Steven Shapiro
I beat his ass. Dude, talk about calling someone else. Done.
Interviewer
That guy's the king of talking too.
Steven Shapiro
Is he?
Interviewer
Trevor Bauer.
Steven Shapiro
Love it.
Interviewer
Yeah, he's an animal. What's the end goal for. For all this? You got a plan or you kind of just living day by day with it?
Steven Shapiro
No, I'm not living day by day. So I just had my first son six months ago from the day today. Thank you. And so, like, everything I do, I do for him. And it's like, I want to build the best future for him possible. And I know, like, everybody has a Runway with social media, right? So we've been doing a bunch of things. So the biggest thing that I'm doing right now is we are opening up a mental health clinic for. For adolescents.
Interviewer
Nice.
Steven Shapiro
In Arizona, we have a huge mental health crisis. So I have a very, very highly qualified skilled team with me. We're opening up a clinic out there. That's gonna be awesome. Opening up a couple ice cream shops called Peterson's Ice Cream.
Interviewer
Let's go.
Steven Shapiro
If you're ever in Arizona I love ice cream and. Yeah, obviously continuing content.
Interviewer
That's cool, man. The mental health stuff is deep for me. I had quite a journey myself, for sure. Yeah. I was on Xanax and clinozepam and.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah.
Interviewer
Almost lost my life.
Steven Shapiro
Really?
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
Sorry.
Interviewer
It's no joke.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah.
Interviewer
I appreciate you doing that, man.
Steven Shapiro
Dude, 100% appreciate you sharing that.
Interviewer
Yeah. Did you have your own journey that inspired that?
Steven Shapiro
I'm still on it.
Interviewer
Yeah. Yeah. It's an ongoing thing. Yeah. It doesn't just go away.
Steven Shapiro
No, definitely not.
Interviewer
That's.
Steven Shapiro
That's affects everybody. I mean, I think people see, especially, like, content creators and, like, people online, they're like, oh, man, their life is pretty perfect. You know what I mean? But they only see a glimpse of it. They see what we want you to see.
Interviewer
Right.
Steven Shapiro
You know, but, like, everything that goes on behind the scenes, like, you can ask Jason. Brad. Like, my sleep is terrible. I don't sleep. You know what I mean? And that causes, like, its own demon. And then it's like, okay, a video doesn't perform well, that causes its own demon. It's like, there's always something, you know, so it's just a whole. However you manage it, however you just deal with everything, that's.
Interviewer
That's key sleep for me, though.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
I hope you guys are enjoying the show. Please don't forget to like and subscribe. It helps the show a lot with the algorithm.
Interviewer
Thank you. If I have a bad night, I. I am more prone to anxiety attacks the next day.
Steven Shapiro
100. You got a whoop.
Interviewer
I do. I have a eight sleep.
Steven Shapiro
Oh, okay.
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
Is that a sleep only?
Interviewer
It's a mattress, but it tracks your HRV Tracks. It gives you a sleep score every day.
Steven Shapiro
Damn.
Interviewer
It's kind of like whoop, but only when you're sleeping.
Steven Shapiro
Dude, can I show you my.
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
Last night.
Interviewer
I need to get one of these. I heard of them.
Steven Shapiro
Dude, they're sick. The new one just came out the other day. I don't want to be, like, fanboy.
So, like.
From. I know.
Interviewer
This is terrible.
Steven Shapiro
I know.
Interviewer
I got 89 of mine last night.
Steven Shapiro
You killed it, dude.
Interviewer
No, but that's really low where you.
Steven Shapiro
Look at my stress. That's my stress. I know.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Wait, so you were stressed for two hours?
Steven Shapiro
Dude, I like what's fits to so 89 of the night. I was stressed. It's like, what am I stressing about when I'm sleeping, bro?
Interviewer
Was that in Vegas or was that.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah, that was here last night. Yeah.
Interviewer
Wow. Which hotel are you at?
Steven Shapiro
Aria. Must be Motel 6.
Interviewer
Must be haunted. I don't know what to say.
Steven Shapiro
Haunted, exactly. They're just calling me out.
Interviewer
Damn. Yeah. Sleep is everything, though. As you get older, I feel like you could get away with it when you're younger.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah.
Interviewer
Like six years ago, you could probably not sleep. Film a video the next day.
Steven Shapiro
100.
Interviewer
Yeah. But now drinking too. I don't drink anymore.
Steven Shapiro
You don't drink?
Interviewer
I had to stop. I know. It's ironic. We got. Yeah. Alcohol. Sponsor, but sure. No drinking. Can't do it. Yeah. You still drink or.
Steven Shapiro
I still drink. It's. It's one of those things that, like, I feel like everybody says this, but I'm very. I don't like to do it, but I enjoy doing it socially, if that makes sense.
Interviewer
Yeah, it does.
Steven Shapiro
So it's like I'm a once a month, twice a month type drinker. I'm not like a everyday drinker. So personally, maybe I'm wrong for this, but I'm like, okay, if I'm doing it socially, like at events. Yeah. Like this.
Interviewer
This is a good.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah, let's do it.
Interviewer
Good event to do it.
Steven Shapiro
Exactly. But I'm not like every night, every weekend, trying to rip shots. Like I said, I have a 6 month old. Couldn't do it anyway.
Interviewer
Yeah. I can't do cannabis anymore too.
Steven Shapiro
I don't. Yeah. Zero.
Interviewer
You ever try it? Oh, yeah. For sure, dude. Terrible anxiety. Yeah. 100% awful.
Steven Shapiro
That's why I stopped.
Interviewer
Yeah. I'll go to the corner of the room and just not talk.
Steven Shapiro
100%.
Interviewer
I don't know what it is with that, but some people are the opposite. Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
Oh. Some people get more social with it.
Interviewer
Yeah. I don't get that.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah, I used to. So, like, my thing was. It was a great. I don't know if you want to call it a crutch aid, whatever you want to call it for sleep. I wouldn't do it and go out socially. I couldn't do it.
Interviewer
Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
But it was like, if I do it, I know I'm going to get a great night's sleep. And then one night I was like, what's the purpose of life? Dude, My life got rocked. I was like, I can never do it again.
Interviewer
Did you reach a conclusion on the purpose of life?
Steven Shapiro
Sure didn't.
Interviewer
It's an ongoing thing. Right.
Steven Shapiro
I think the purpose is. There is no purpose.
Interviewer
Yeah. I think if you made your purpose. No, that's facts. Because if you found out the purpose, it would kind of be depressing, I think. Yeah. Right?
Steven Shapiro
Oh, for sure.
Interviewer
Because then you're like, oh, I already know the purpose. Why am I even doing XYZ?
Steven Shapiro
100%.
Interviewer
Yeah. So we'll see. We'll see when we pass away, I guess, what the purpose was. Yeah.
Steven Shapiro
Yeah.
Interviewer
Well, dude, what's next for you? Where can people keep up with you and find you and everything?
Steven Shapiro
Yeah, I mean, all the socials. Steven Shapiro, all there. We're not posting too much about the clinic and the ice cream shop right now, but it's coming.
Interviewer
Stay tuned, guys. I'll be there.
Steven Shapiro
Hey, appreciate you. Anytime. You're in a free ice cream.
Interviewer
I'm in free ice cream. You got me. All right, guys, check them out. Peace.
Steven Shapiro
Appreciate it.
