Most people think PR is about getting press. Alexandra Taylor believes it is really about relationships, positioning, and knowing which people to avoid. In this Digital Social Hour episode, Sean Kelly sits down with Alexandra Taylor, founder of A-Team Strategies, to discuss crisis management, brand building, political relationships, creator-led media, Happy Dad, entrepreneurship, work ethic, local influence, and how reputations are built or destroyed. Alexandra explains why she left traditional publishing to build a relationship-first PR agency, how she helped restaurants navigate the shutdown era, and why owning your local community matters before trying to become nationally known. The conversation also covers Happy Dad’s rise, working with the Shahidi brothers, ranch life, local food, crisis communications, performance-based pay, social climbing, misinformation, reading people, and why entrepreneurs cannot afford to ignore local politics. 90% of your life is staying away from the wrong information and the wrong people. That's a really hard task. They will always weed themselves out if you keep your head on straight. A lot of my brand and a lot of my PR work is that is like steering people away from the wrong partnerships or the wrong brand affiliation. Women like, have this, like, forgive but never forget. Big on that. Like, forgive but don't forget because people don't really change.
Sean Kelly
Okay, guys, got Alexandra Taylor here, founder of A Team Strategies. We got a lot of mutual friends. We're hitting power slap after this. It's going to be a fun night. Thanks for coming on.

How you been?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Good.
Sean Kelly
Busy.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Good. Busy as usual. Yeah, I'm ready to slap a bitch tonight.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. I always tell people the one job I wouldn't do is PR just because it's a lot of fires you're putting out, problems you're dealing with.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
It is.
Sean Kelly
It's stressful, right?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
It is, it is stressful. But, you know, if you love what you do, it's. It's not as bad as it seems. If you have a good hold on your clients, you have a good relationship with the people that you work with, it's no doubt stressful, but you can turn any kind of crisis situation into a positive. You can pivot that. So it, it's always kind of a challenge. But I welcome that.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
My whole life.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. How did you get into pr? I know it wasn't planned because you won. You went to law school, right? You were.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, that was the plan originally along many years ago. And I kind of pivoted. I got great grades. I really enjoyed, you know, my law school classes and stuff like that, but it just wasn't for me. So I pivoted and I met a lot of people in PR in Chicago. That's where I was living at the time. And I started working for Career Builder. Then I. Shortly after that, I worked for Modern Luxury Media, which is a huge media giant. So it's kind of on the other Side, I was on the publishing side actually, which is revenue. Right? Revenue, relationship, sales. Not really writing or editorial at all. Actually. The publisher actually oversees the editorial team. So it was interesting. You really had to base your revenue that is going into a magazine or any kind of print piece on your relationships. Who's going to invest? Why? Event wise, partnership wise. Not just print ads in a book. You know, it was a whole relationship based program. So that's what I did for about 12 years. And then I decided, you know, like I saw the print, you know, I saw the decline in print and it was changing big time. 2018 you started to see the shifts. And then 2019 it was like, and then 2020 it was like dead end. And that's when I kind launched my, my agency and I went from like, I had a very, very much like a disruptor model. Right. Because I didn't want to be anything like public relations. What, you know, it, you know, all press based, all media based, all mass media. You kind of had the, that was like the lean on back then. I really wanted to be a disruptor model. Like I wanted the PR to come from the people. Like, and that was my thing. Like people and relationships and the leaders of the community.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
You know, the people who own the restaurants, the people who own the hotels, the people who run the community, the mayors, things like that. Like, no having those relationships and knowing like owning your backyard, that's so important in pr. If you can't own your backyard, like, who are you? How can you own the nation? How can you own the world if you don't have that, that backyard passion and great point. Newport Beach, Orange county, during 2020, when I kind of like went on my own, that's kind of where people were looking like, wait, why is Newport beach, you know, working still? Why, why are they working through the pandemic? Why are they thriving? Why?
Sean Kelly
You guys crushed it during the pandemic.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
We did. And that, that kind of like gave me the courage, like I don't need to run through legacy media to be successful. You know, when everything is shut down and, and everything is kind of based on your own personal network and how you reach those people, that's when you shine like or, or die, to be honest. Because when media won't cover you, you're right. At that time during the pandemic, when I had first launched my agency, one of my clients, lounge group, they owned about 14 different restaurants and bars. And he was one of my greatest friends and mentors at the time. And I was like, I Do not want to let this person down like this. This means so much. And everything was shut down. I was running the social media and the PR for 14 different restaurants. It was like all the weight on our shoulders and him.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. And were they all in O.C.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
or Orange County? Oh, God, yeah. Like, if you've been to the Wild Goose or Playa Mesa or Stagbar, like, if you've ever been to Newport, like, those are like the iconic watering holes of. Of our city. I mean, anyone who visits Newport, Costa Mesa, Orange county, oh, it's. It's legendary. So. And everyone was going. It was so amazing because social media was all you had. Like, if you were staying open and not having a mask enforcement or. Or whatever the, you know, the bullshit mandate that was at that time, if you were doing that, like, no media would cover you. No. No one would really shine.
Sean Kelly
They would find you.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
They would find you and they would find you.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
And that's when you have to get into government, right? That's when you have to know the mayor, the D. A, the police, everyone. And our law enforcement was so amazing and our district attorney was so amazing. You know, they really gave us some grace with what was happening because there was so much BS Went around.
Sean Kelly
You needed vaccine, cars to eat in LA at a restaurant.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
So many of us had fake vaccine, you know, it. So many of us. So it was. It was an interesting time and it was an interesting time to pivot. And really, you know, that's how I shined in, in, in when I first started my strategies and my agency relationships.
Sean Kelly
Hey, guys, you know, I don't do promos for just anybody. The only reason I'm talking about Legends right now is because they completely flip the script. Look, the reason I know it's different is because I actually met the team in person in Las Vegas. I trust these guys and. And how they run the site changes everything. Legends is a premium US Sweepstakes casino. It's free to play, and when you win, they feature lightning fast redemptions. They have a massive game variety. Hundreds of premium slots, sports, and live tables. You can play entirely for free. Stop dealing with platforms that lock up your funds. Hit my link right now and go see why Legends has earned its name. Hit the link below. Yeah, relationships are everything in po Relationships.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. And everyone you built trust, right? Like if you, you know, everyone was going to you like, Ali, what's open? Allie, what restaurants are open? What. What? Don't you have to wear a mask? Where don't you need a vaccine to go? How can you travel? Like, it was kind of like that inner circle that they would reach out to. And it was because of the people and the leaders that they trusted within the community that they would reach out and go to those places and, you know, give them business and give them gift cards or whatever. People were so gracious in our community with the people who are kind of going against.
Sean Kelly
Right.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
The narrative at that time. And we kind of drove the narrative in our own way. So that was like a big breaking point for me, I think, in PR and doing it a different way. And now here we are, whatever, 20, 26, and those are all. I still work with those people. I still have great partnerships, relationships. All those things have gotten stronger and kind of opened up other opportunities because of the respect level that happened. You know, those, those tough years.
Sean Kelly
Absolutely. He stuck with them.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
And how do you see it changing now? Do you see like podcasts and streaming as the next kind of big frontier?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Geez, yeah. Podcasts are huge, right? I mean, social media and like your biggest currency right now is attention, right? Like media attention and media being podcasts like yours, you know, creator based content on YouTube, podcast, social media, Instagram, X. All of those things. Right. Short blips of information that people can absorb quickly. Which, although that's the worst thing for your brain. Yeah, that's. That's where it's at right now. Right?
Commercial Voice (Advertisements)
It's.
Sean Kelly
It's short form.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, exactly. Short form. And so I just think if people are going to be buried in their phones and buried in these platforms, they might as well be looking at my. Might as well be looking at my clients. Like, no matter what it is. Because repetition is everything. Perseverance is everything. You know, just consistency. And as long as that's being blasted and I might be biased, but all of my people are. Anything that I promote or anything that I represent is doing great things, I believe. Or else I wouldn't represent them. They're on stage, they're American, you know, they have pride for America. They have pro business, you know, all of that. Yeah, I know that's swimming in the right direction.
Sean Kelly
I know that's big for you, that alignment. You believe in the American dream, right? A lot of your clients are American based companies.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
100%.
Sean Kelly
I know you work with. Can. Can I share your clients or Happy die as well?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Absolutely.
Sean Kelly
That's how we met, right? Huge shout out to John Shahidi. Yeah. But you got some big guys in the political space too, right?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
I do, I do. I work heavy in politics now, political candidacy. I Represent Andrew Gruel right now who's running for council. He's a big personality on Gutfeld. He's an incredible chef. I met him as a chef back in the day, like 20 years ago. He opened up the first slap fish in Newport Beach. That's how I initially met him. And now here he is, like, making splashes on the political front. You know why? Because he's common sense based.
Commercial Voice (Advertisements)
He.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
He is not pushing one way or the other. He is in the. He is pushing common sense and real food and, you know, the American values that we kind of grew up in, at least my generation and what we were taught to, you know, the American dream, like you said, just bringing those values back, really. I've worked with Joe Stableton. He's the mayor, former mayor of Newport beach, the D.A. todd Spitzer, who's also amazing. They all keep our community safe and they don't need to do this. I think that's the difference. They don't need to be.

in politics, they don't need to make a name for themselves. They own businesses. They have employees, they have families. They're much better suited to go spend time building their business and building their families and doing that. But they want to protect the community, right? And they want to protect the residents rights and all of the things that we love as Americans and quite frankly as Newport beach residents. Freedom Liberty Pro business. You know, safety, public safety is huge now. I mean look at the cities.
Sean Kelly
Like it's terrible.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
It's crazy.
Sean Kelly
You guys are like the last hope of California in my opinion. Like, it's crazy to see the nearby cities in Cali how destroyed they've gotten. So you, you have a great community over there.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Thank you. And that's heavily due to our, our local government and our da. Our DA is the one who prosecutes the bad guys. And our, our pd, our fire team, our lifeguards, we all really, we're a community that works together and celebrates safety and, and accountability. Something that is lost now, la has lost accountability. I went to USC things back then in 2000-2005 are, it's a world of difference. I Go back there. I mean, USC is in the ghetto, as we all know. And I felt safer then than I do now going. And it's, you know, there's more development, there's more safety, there's more fences, there's more policemen. But you still. You don't feel as safe because there's no accountability at what might happen down there, you know, because LA has just, you know, their D A is a complete joke now. The new one, Nathan Hockman, is a little bit better, but it really has taken a. The last.
Sean Kelly
Absolutely, yes.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Six years.
Sean Kelly
You grew up in Newport also. You split some time in Montana on a ranch, though. So you kind of live two different lives, right?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, a lot of people think I'm from there. It's funny. Montana, probably because I post about it so much. Yeah, I love it. My family bought a ranch there about, I want to say, like, 38 years ago now. So I'm 42. And so basically my whole life we've been going there. My parents, born and raised in Newport beach, which is totally, like, bizarre. Most people are transplants, and they want us to just get out of Newport, you know, that. Somewhere where we could get in the dirt and be gritty. And my dad loved horses, so that matriculated into us loving or, you know, horses. Lucky us. You know, we were the kids with the ponies, but we were, you know, we were shoveling horseshit. We were taking care of them. We were. We were doing all of the things to be able to have this kind of life as well. You know, my parents were working their ass off to be able to afford freaking multiple hundreds of acres of ranch in Montana and then, you know, homes in Newport. They were busting their ass. So. And we were, you know, we were taking care of the place and we were doing a lot, you know, that helped us grow. Like, that made me who I am today.
Sean Kelly
Your work ethic comes from Montana?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yes. Like, fixing fences, tractor, you know, like, tilling the land. Like killing beavers. I probably shouldn't say that, but, like, you run into the weirdest when you have a property in, like, any of those hundreds of acres, you know, it's. It's totally different. Like, people. People now. Oh, they want to have a place in Idaho or Utah or whatever, for the tax purposes. That's not why we did it. My dad truly, like, he wanted to be a California rancher. And that was just so weird back then.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Like, people were like, why would you do this? Like, the. You know, no one would even give a ranch loan Back then, like my parents had to, my parents did some crazy like to their house in Newport to be able to get that ranch and they all, it all worked out in the end and my dad was a hard worker and as was my mom. But yeah, it was interesting, you know, so we lived that life and we still have the place now, so it's special.
Sean Kelly
Yeah, I'm sure it went up a lot.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
It did, it did. But we'll never sell it, hopefully. And yeah, I don't think that's not a concern. We grow hay on the property. There's a lot of repairs constantly. We're always going through ranch hands.
Sean Kelly
Ranch hands.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Ranch hands like we know have that much acreage. You have to have someone there constantly.
Sean Kelly
Got it.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, like fixing fences, killing, you know, beavers. Yeah, beavers are a huge problem. They have water around your property, they will build dams, they will flood the property. You can't hay it. It's a whole thing. It's crazy. Yeah. People are like, how do you know about this stuff? But it's the years of, you know, being there. You know, there's all kinds of coyotes. Oh yeah. Coyotes are everywhere. And like, like when you build like you've got, you've got bark beetles, you've got woodpeckers. Like we have these totem poles, wild like you know, 40 year old totem poles, you know, you think, oh, they just last forever. No, they don't. When they're made of wood and they're 40ft in the air, woodpeckers will peck the out of them and they will literally eat an entire wood house. You don't treat this stuff. Yeah, it's weird. It's. I could go on and on. It's not that exciting. But it's pretty weird the stuff you run into outside of California, building wise.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
So all the people here who are buying houses there, then they build for California while their pipes are going to burst. They're going to have woodpeckers, they're going to have bark fer their place is essentially going to fall apart if they don't.
Sean Kelly
Well, you can't even build in California. You got to wait years to get a permit.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Years.
Sean Kelly
And it's double the price, triple the price.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
I mean, we haven't built any. But you're like, you get a permit like overnight, right? Maybe not overnight, but it's like you just build and then like fast later. It's so bizarre.
Sean Kelly
Like there's so much lag over there.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
There's no, there's none of this, you know, multi level monopoly into there.
Sean Kelly
Cali's so rigged it's crazy. Everything I look out there, whether it's a homelessness issue, voting even. I mean we could go on and on about homelessnesses. It's really, it's a scam.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
In Newport, we have one homeless person now.
Sean Kelly
Oh, that's it.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. Since actually this, I'll equate this to Joe Stapleton. When he started as mayor, we were, we had like 96 homeless people. There's like a whole count situation.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
And by the end of his mayoral term, with the help of city council and, and police and everything else, there was one home.
Sean Kelly
That's impressive.
Commercial Voice (Advertisements)
That's crazy.
Sean Kelly
Yeah, that's impressive.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Crazy. I mean it's. Honestly, people laugh but it's like we, we take great pride in our city and we have know a lot. Our property taxes are not cheap. So it better be going to something better be, you know, quality of life, baby. That's everything.
Sean Kelly
Absolutely. Did the fires end up hitting you guys or.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
No, no, that was more like the Palisades.
Sean Kelly
Okay.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
And what was it? Alam. And there was another, there was another area. But it's crazy because my uncle is a Catholic priest and he's in on Toyopa Drive. He's the like Pacific Palisades and Corpus Christi Catholic Church burnt to the ground. That was his parish.
Sean Kelly
Geez.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, so he came down, he stayed with my grandfather who lives on Lido island for a while. But it was really, it was dark.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. He tried to get any money.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
He literally like he, we're very close. He always comes down to Newport. That's like his day off or whatever. And he's pretty big. He's almost senior, so he's like pretty. Yeah, he runs the show up there at Pacific Palisades and that was going to be like his end all. He just packed up his stuff, came down, you know, thought, oh, the fire, you know, this isn't their first fire. Like it's, it's heavy. Like they have a lot of scares out there with the brush and it, with all that. So he just packed up his stuff and came down to Newport and thought, oh, I'll go. You know, we'll be evacuated but we'll go down. Never came back. He lost everything, as did all of the Pacific Palisades people. They lost everything.
Sean Kelly
And they got a lot of them, got no money out of it.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
None.
Sean Kelly
Which is great.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Spencer Pratt, I mean, God bless him, he's out there, you know, he'd be great to have your show he's out there just like chirping, you know, Gavin Newsome, he's gone to all lengths to kind of bring to the surface what Karen B. Yeah.
Sean Kelly
Shout out to him. Because I've never seen someone stand up to do some out there.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Right. I did. I did Art in Orange county did during 2020. But he really has. During the fires, because, I mean, they're getting pummeled. I mean, we lost revenue, businesses lost revenue from 2020, 2021. And there was, you know, those stupid loans and all that stuff that the government grants that kind of like retracted a little bit. But he has gone to all lengths for sure, and he's not stopping, so. Good for him. Yeah, he's a little. He's a little wild, but, you know, kind of need that. Yeah.
Sean Kelly
You need something else. Yeah, you need something. Karen Bass is just a joke.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh, she is. She is something.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. Please, please replace her.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
She has a lot of vacationing.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. In Africa during Fire 100. Makes sense. Going back to the PR, building the PR empire, though. I mean, that transition must have been pretty difficult. Did you have a team at first?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
It was. No, it was a one. I mean, one man show and like, you know, an assistant and someone in accounting, basically.
Sean Kelly
So it was lean.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, very lean. And I find even with the larger brands, like, even, you know, Happy dad, very lean team for the footing that we have over the nation, to be quite honest. Like, I mean, and it started super lean as well.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. You guys are the third largest seltzer, I believe, in the country.
Commercial Voice (Shell Ads)
Yes.
Sean Kelly
Crazy.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yes. Were climbing fast. Only been around for five years, I believe. I'm saying, track of time. Yeah. It's crazy to see the growth. It's really. It brings a great deal of pride. Like, I love. John Chahidi is a. Is somebody who is just so versed in culture partnerships, creators. Like, he watches the market along with Sam, his brother, who is the CEO of Happy dad. They work together great. They balance out each other's, you know, weaknesses and strengths and they stay in their lane. I've never. I've never seen a dynamic, you know, brotherhood really like them before, and I haven't either.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. It's very hard to work with family.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. 100%. Yeah. You and I both was my sisters, but not a chance. Would they ever work for my company. I would be. No.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. But I love what you said because John's so good at identifying talent.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yes.
Sean Kelly
He. He caught me, like, five years ago. He invited me out to the UFC, to his suite, and I was like a no. 1 at the time, but he, he's just got like an eye for talent.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
He does. And he's an authentic, just a good person. Like to the core.

Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
md when I first met him, I was like, who is this guy in the hood, you know, like, starting an alcohol with, like, the shots, you know, the shot. And this was, like, five years ago. And I was just like, I'm never going to work with an alcohol again. And I met him, and I was like, well, this is different, you know? And then I met Sam shortly after, I was like, this is different. They see I don't have to explain to them what I'm doing. Like, for the most part, like, they get it. They get partnerships, they get influence, they get who's fake and who's not. Like, they know who runs the show in every industry, I feel like. And they. They kind of, like, they move in the same direction that I do. Like, it just, you know. You know. You know how to work with people, whether you can work with people or not, like, right off the bat.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
And it's just been, you know, from, like, government relations to partnerships to PR to everything. Like, we. We cover a large ground in what I. What we do together.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. I remember when you guys were launching Happy D. That's crazy. And now you're in almost every state, right?
Commercial Voice (Advertisements)
It was.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah.
Commercial Voice (Advertisements)
All states.
Sean Kelly
It's nuts.
Commercial Voice (WeatherTech Ads)
Yes.
Sean Kelly
I mean, just the growth. I mean, full send as a brand has been. I've been following them for a while.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. Nel or full send or all.
Sean Kelly
Is it the same Nelk and full send or not?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Full send is. I mean, it's the merch platform, basically.
Sean Kelly
Okay.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Nelk is the YouTube.
Sean Kelly
You know, I'd say milk. I watched Nelk in college, so like, almost 10 years now.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
That's so crazy. And before, like, I had no. I mean, I'm much older than you, but, like, I was like, who are the Nel boys?
Sean Kelly
You never heard of them?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
No, I had no idea.
Sean Kelly
Wow.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
No, they had to explain everything. Like, and now. And even so with, like, Happy Days, like, it can work in your favor. It can not work in your favor because some people don't, you know, they're not big on the. On the creator side. The older guys especially, who own the restaurants, in the bars and hospitality. But when they recognize the influence and, you know, that edge that they have as a creator brand, and then they introduce, oh, no, we're gonna work like. Like, I'll give one of my clients a hat who's not really on board with Happy dad, and then they'll take it home and the kid, their little son or their daughter. I can't even explain how many times they're like, dad, that's so cool. Where'd you get that?
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
You know. You know who the happy dad is. And they don't even know they can't drink. They're not an alcohol.
Commercial Voice (Advertisements)
But, like, they.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
They know the brand it's all about.
Sean Kelly
That's happened so many times.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
It's all about the brand.
Sean Kelly
I've run into people wearing a Happy dad hat, and they don't even know the Nelk Boys.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Nope. And it's just that little logo that goes so far, and it's the collaboration and the excitement, and it's a cult following.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. No, that was a brilliant name for a business because you're right, it's not tied to the Nelk Boys.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. Because they didn't want to. They didn't want to do, you know, what everyone else is doing. The skinny seltzer, the Skinny can, whatever. Like, let's make it about. Like, everything is about women with the Seltzer. Let's make it about men. Let's make it about.
Sean Kelly
That's true.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Like, you know, and. And they were doing. You know, they were doing so well at the time with the creator stuff and the videos and everything. So it's like, why not put it out? Like, they're drinking all the time. Like, why not put our own alcohol.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
In front of it. It was genius. I think it was John and I think Renee, John's wife, had a say, or not a say, but, like, had the idea to say, hey, why don't you do this for, you know, men? Because Time worked at Catch, so she was probably seeing all the trending, like, with the drinks and, like, the ordering and all of that, you know, analytics, and she was seeing all that. There's, like, there's such a great couple.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. Shout out to Renee. She's from Jersey.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
They got married in Jersey.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
She is. She's a Jersey girl. She's awesome. I'm. I'm. My. My goal for Them is to get her a horse. Find her a horse.
Sean Kelly
Do you love horses still? Horses are expensive.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
They are expensive.
Sean Kelly
If someone gave me a horse, I'd be a little upset cuz this Isn't it like 20 grand a year or something.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
They're expensive.
Commercial Voice (Empower Ads)
Yeah.
Commercial Voice (Advertisements)
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
But she loves. And I was like, John, I'd sell, I'd send him like rescue horses. Or he's like, come on. He's like, ally, back off. Back for having a kid.
Sean Kelly
My wife wants a. My wife wants a Highland car.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh, see, those are so cute.
Sean Kelly
Yeah, that's why she wants it. You can't drink milk or anything out of it.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
But they're totally useless lay pets. And they've got the hair and the horns and the whole thing. They're so adorable.
Sean Kelly
Did you have them out at the ranch?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
We don't. They're very high maintenance. So you got to, you know, you got to have them in your house. So inside you're okay with that? No, I'm just kidding. But I mean people do treat them like dogs.
Commercial Voice (WeatherTech Ads)
Dogs.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
I could see that in the house.
Sean Kelly
I could see that.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
I would. I think I'd prefer a mini horse to the Highland cow. They are pretty cute. Sam is obsessed with cat Sam Sheet, he's up to cows.
Sean Kelly
Really. Yeah, Just like a regular cow.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
He wants a Highland cow. I'm sure he'll have one at some point.
Sean Kelly
That's funny, man.
Commercial Voice (Shell Ads)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
Everyone's good.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Plane.
Sean Kelly
Everyone's getting their off grid spots now. It seems like you have their branches and their homesteads.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yep, yep.
Sean Kelly
That seems to be the move.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Everyone wants land.
Sean Kelly
Yeah, we're all getting burnt out, I think. Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
And like look at the way the world is going. Like eat, like eating real food, growing your food. All of these og. You know, the, the way that our freaking grandparents and our great grandparents grew up, now it's all going back to that. Like why did we ever divert from that? I don't know. But we did. And now it's nice to see it's going back. I don't know if we'll get there fully, but if you have the means to do it, you might as well.
Commercial Voice (WeatherTech Ads)
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
You know, keep your family healthy and safe and I don't know why not.
Sean Kelly
Yeah, it is one of the downsides of major cities. I think you lose that sense of community.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
Newport's not really like a huge city so you could still have that sense of community, I think.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, they do have. We have quite a few like ecological areas like the Back Bay and people don't even realize you can have horses in Newport Beach. Like, there is an area, it's very small, but it's better than other areas where you can't have any land. I mean, some of the parcels are like half acre acre and they are expensive, but that's what, you know, it is possible. And a lot of. A lot of cities have the community gardens. Now that's a big thing with. With, you know, with like city councils, like providing a community garden or whatever to be able to grow your own food or, you know, have a camaraderie. Oh, that's your neighbors. Like, all right.
Sean Kelly
I wouldn't mind that at all.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, Vegas should have that.
Sean Kelly
I wish I should grow here. Yeah, it's hard to grow shit out here. Desert. We have a garden at the house, though, because, like. Yeah, I don't trust most of the food in the grocery store these days.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
No, I know.
Sean Kelly
You know, they spray pesticides, they spray glyphosate on it all. Michael. All sorts of shit.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
And it's bizarre. Like, if you talk to someone like Andrew Owls speaks on Andrew Grohl about the fish, like, are like seafood. Like, why are we getting it from overseas? Like, we have some of the best seafood right here in the United States. Right.
Sean Kelly
Especially by you.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. Like, why are we going to China and shipping it? Like, why are we doing all this? It's crazy. Like, it's. It's. It makes no sense.
Sean Kelly
Not. I mean, it makes no sense. I see it from the economic point of view, but in terms of, like, logically. Yeah, it doesn't make sense.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
I mean, why would I want to get fish from China?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Exactly.
Sean Kelly
That's going to be not right.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Anything from that. If we had the greatest produce and greatest is everything beef, even beef here. What are we doing? Yeah. Lots of another reason people get land is they want to grow their, you
Sean Kelly
know, have their own cows because they're in.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
They split the meat and it's good idea.
Sean Kelly
I bought a half a cow from some rancher in California.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, Smart.
Sean Kelly
Lasted me like four months.
Commercial Voice (Shell Ads)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
And it was like four months.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Wow. You eat a lot of meat.
Sean Kelly
Do I? Yeah, I guess I do. I don't know what was me for
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
your see the cow?
Sean Kelly
My wife and I, but we bought a whole fridge for it. But it was worth it.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Okay.
Sean Kelly
I'd rather do that than buy vaccinated meat from the Costco or whatever. For sure.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh, my God.
Sean Kelly
See the chickens there now.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh, my God. And like the seafood that like the salmon.
Sean Kelly
Oh, yeah. There's parasite oh, my God. Oh, my God. Like, I would never. They sell sushi now at Costco. No, I'm not.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
I'm not doing that. No, no. I am blessed. I have a lot of people who fish in my life and bring me fish. I actually went fishing last week in Cabo, and it was like, wow. Like, to. To go fishing and, like, eat your own, you know, wahoo or. Or whatever. Ono. Whatever you go out and catch, you know, it's. It's. It's amazing. Like, why wouldn't you.
Sean Kelly
Cabo, you were. Mexico. Last week.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
I was in.
Sean Kelly
Was it last week, Two weeks with all the cartels.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh, my. Was literally, like. I was like, I never do this. I never just go to cabo for, like, 48 hours or last minute. And I was asked to go, and I was like, you know what?
Commercial Voice (Land Rover Defender Ads)
It.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, I've been working my ass off. Like, I do need. I'm gonna go. So we went and we fished one of the days, and we just, like, hauled. It was, like, abnormal. Like, we came across a dead whale, and. And there was. It was, like, payday. Like, we had so many fish on the line. Like, you didn't have enough people in the boat crew in the boat to get, like, the six lines, like, pulled it. It was crazy. It was pandemonium.
Commercial Voice (Land Rover Defender Ads)
It was.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
It was. It's a really fun experience. If you can't. I mean, it's not always that lucky, but we came across a whale, and they were all beating off of it, and it was just like, wahoo. And what is the other one? Dodo Dorado.
Sean Kelly
Okay.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. And after we caught them all, we took them to whatever. The cantina in the marina of Cabo, and they cooked it. They did fish tacos. They did, you know, all different ways.
Sean Kelly
And it was, like, the best seafood I ever had was Mexico. Ensenada. I was on a cruise there. I got off, ate at the pier. Oh, my God.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yep. It's so good. And, like, you go. Like, when you go to, like, Montana or get the indigenous food, get, like, the beef, get the buffalo burger, get the deer, and I don't really eat a lot of meat, but, like, when you're there, you got to take advantage and, like. Have you ever visited an Amish community?
Sean Kelly
Yes. Okay. Yeah.
Commercial Voice (Land Rover Defender Ads)
That.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
The butterfly.
Sean Kelly
What? Yeah, they make banging butter. They make moon cakes, I think they're called. Or moon pies, something like that.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Probably different everywhere, but, like. And all of their baked goods, like, kill me. Yeah. I mean, never want to eat anything. Like, the bread, the everything. Ice cream.
Sean Kelly
No seed oils in it.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Nothing.
Sean Kelly
Yeah, shout out to Amish people.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, shout out to Amish people.
Sean Kelly
They don't got electricity.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
No, no.
Sean Kelly
They could cook a good pie.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
And they don't wear buttons. It's all like. Like, the real, like, pins.
Sean Kelly
You're not allowed to film too, then? Oh, when I went to adopt my dogs, I got them from Amish farms and I couldn't film it.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh, really?
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh, wow. You are at a strict one.
Sean Kelly
Are they?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, the ones near our ranch. I mean, we film for sure. Like, they have the vegetables, like, the size of your head, the squash and stuff. When. Oh, yeah, like, cab. I have, like, so many pictures of my niece with, like, cabbages this big.
Sean Kelly
Okay.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Like, wild with, you know, grandma or whatever.
Sean Kelly
Strict. Yeah. One of them went on the full sun podcast. Oh, yeah, that was pretty interesting.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh, my God, he was hilarious. And the Ovon. Did you see that one? The Irish guy. That's how they are.
Commercial Voice (Land Rover Defender Ads)
They're.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
They're like. It's so weird.

Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
heard how they're just so green. Like they have no idea. Like imagine like being in the real world. In the real.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. Cause they don't have phones. No. No social media. Imagine your. What your brain would look like without the dopamine hits crazy.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Like they're just like farming and selling the food and pigs and you know, they're just doing tract. Actually some of them don't even have tractors. But yeah, they're. And they live in this community with a million houses and it's all families and it's wild.
Sean Kelly
I couldn't do it.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
It's wild.
Sean Kelly
I need my phone.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
No way. And I don't think they could. A lot of them can do our world, you know. That's a.
Sean Kelly
It'd be a major adjustment. I mean you could see it when he was on the podcast, like what is going on?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Right.
Sean Kelly
They gave him some soda, I think, or something to drink and he was like, what is that?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, no, they have no. And they, they make their own alcohol, which is like wild.
Sean Kelly
Oh, do they drink?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, they. They make. They make everything. I mean, but the Butter. The butter.
Sean Kelly
Amish butter, guys.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Amish. Amish roll.
Sean Kelly
Butter. Who's the Amish? Butter.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Get that.
Sean Kelly
All right, so back to pr. We talked about the good sides of any disasters that you had to fix. Do you do PR crisis?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Talk about. I do do crisis control.
Sean Kelly
So you do both? You do, like just regular PR and the crisis.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
I can do both for sure. You got to be prepared for what you can't just do one or the other. It's like, you know, what do you. You're really cutting yourself short. But yeah, not certain ones I can't talk about. But 2020 was a huge PR disaster just in itself for the restaurants or just everything. I mean, any. Any company who was not following the rules, which is pretty much all of mine. So, you know, people on social media, like, you know, who are against how you are standing up or whatever. However you acted, everyone was doing something wrong. So it's like they'll go light you up on Twitter, like, you're a Nazi. You're this call you horrible things. You know, your disease spreader. You're, you know, all of the killing. All of the names and kill you on social media. The only thing that you have, you know, get you canceled, get you on restriction, get you bar, you know, all this crap. Like, that was a freaking disaster.
Sean Kelly
Yeah, they left one star.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
And it was just like, consistent blockade. Like you're just putting up blocks. I remember we were in a meet, like a strategy meeting with like three, the whole three people who are still working during COVID you know, like, what are we going to do for marketing next? We've run out of ideas. And this guy saw us meeting in the bar, and we were just like. It was like three of us at the bar. We didn't have masks on, whatever. And he was like, they're. They're disease spreaders. He, like, looks in and he goes on social media, so. And so is. You know, he's spreading disease in our community. And my grandma just died of COVID and blah, blah, like, like, just going off on how we were the worst people because we were having a meeting amongst ourselves during COVID Like, and it was all over social media. We're like. And, yeah, pretty good following. We were like, oh, my God, people have lost their minds.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
You know, so it was like, you know, neutralizing that. Neutralizing things on the news that might come out. But it was like, you know, you got to turn these things into positives, silly.
Sean Kelly
A lot of restaurants went out of business during COVID A lot did.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
But you Know what? The ones who kept going strong all bought those restaurants, and now they're thriving.
Sean Kelly
Oh, wow.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
So, yeah, a lot of those. A lot of those people who just. They're just grinders, you know, they. They stop at nothing and like, failure is not an answer.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
And that, that gave them huge leverage in the end. It was a grind. And a lot of them had to, you know, dip into their own pockets. Many, many of them did, including my clients. But they came out on top in the end. And, yep, they toughed it out. They're thriving and they're smart about it. You know, it's. You gotta be smart. You can't make rash decisions or give up or fail or.
Sean Kelly
It's one of the toughest businesses. Restaurant.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh, 100. The margins are.
Sean Kelly
Yeah, the margins are. And the fail rate is really high.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yep.
Sean Kelly
I invested in one, Lost everything.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh, God bless you.
Sean Kelly
So I might be a little biased when I'm talking, but I know statistically it's one of the toughest businesses.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, it is. And to make, you know, you've really. You got to own the real estate. You've got to have, like, another edge with it. Like you can. But, like the Yard House. The Yard House exits of the world like steel Platts. A good friend of mine, he probably set the precedent, like when he sold Yard House to Darden. Like, he. I don't think that'll ever be done again in California. You know, that was just different times, different business, different opportunities, different attitude towards business. I just don't think a chain will ever sell for that much.
Sean Kelly
How much did they sell for?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
It was under. A little under a billion dollars.
Sean Kelly
There's a few in Vegas.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. Yep. Oh, yeah, he had a. He had quite a few locations. And he loves telling his story. Like, it's. It's pretty amazing. And he, he, you know, he had an opportunity to grow more and have a frozen food line. He had so many different opportunities, but he's like, you know what? I'm done. And I don't even want to open up any more and give any more taxes to California. I don't want to give California any more of my money, basically. And I don't blame him. Yeah, I don't, you know, like, he made out well. So I don't know that that kind of an exit with a restaurant will ever happen again.
Sean Kelly
Yeah, I haven't seen that in the restaurant space lately.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. Real estate, yes. Development, yes. But it's different world in hospitality. No one wants to work. Everyone wants to work from home. In anything. Like, I'm sure even staffing a podcast or meeting up anything.
Sean Kelly
All my teams remote.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. No one wants to work and who knows what they're doing? I'm sorry, I mean, no, for real, most people are doing their job, but
Sean Kelly
I struggle with this. That's why I kind of pay on a performance basis. That's so, so like I'll pay for a certain amount of clips. I'm not going to pay you like a salary.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Very.
Sean Kelly
You know what I mean?
Commercial Voice (Land Rover Defender Ads)
Very smart.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
I mean when I was in, when I was in publishing, I was like, you know what? I don't want a salary. Cut me off. Like pay me on commission.
Sean Kelly
Like not all commission.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Like, and I made a pretty penny like on. Because I work my ass off and it was a relationships. But if you're scared and you don't want to do that, like maybe choose another industry. But like performance base is the way to go.
Sean Kelly
100%.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Sean Kelly
It shouldn't be any other way in my opinion.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
I don't know. I mean I never, I never could see the light on that.
Commercial Voice (WeatherTech Ads)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
Because just naturally if you're getting paid by the hour, you're going to do the least amount of work.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yep.
Sean Kelly
This is human nature, 100%. You know what I mean?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
The work ethic, I hope it's coming back, but it's gone down. It is, it is non existent in some industry. Most industries actually. It's just like. And the. No one wants to do. They want to get out of college and they want to have my job. Yeah, no, like I have worked to be able to go to the party, socialize and even then it's always working. No, you're checking people at the door, you're putting name tags on. You're. You're not me. Yeah, I worked hard to be here and I'm still working hard to be here. No, they want to come into your, your podcast media and they want to be Sean. No, you got to do the work. You got to pound the pavement.
Sean Kelly
Grinding 80 hours a week still.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, yeah, we all are. All the people at the top are. It's nonstop. The guys who are making loads of money and developing real estate, they love what they do and they never take their finger off the pulse. Yeah, it's just, and it's just, it's
Sean Kelly
a lifestyle at this point. Yeah. I don't even see it as work. I'm just doing my thing.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Exactly, exactly. You're, it's just you're just on or you're, it's in you or it's not.
Sean Kelly
That's what I feel about work, I think because people always ask me, like, how do I film so much? Like, how do I work so much? Yeah, you either got it or you don't. You got it or no one taught me this.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Nope, no one teaches. You can't teach relationships. You can't teach just being authentic and a good person. Like, I hate when people are like, how did you build your network? How do you know this person? How do you know that person? Well, I'm just myself, first of all. I'm not trying to be someone that I'm not. Like, lay off the social climbing and lay off. Like, how am I, how am I going to make money from this person? How am I gonna, you know, it's a, it must be exhausting to be a fraud. Right? Like to be like covering over here and blocking over here and like trying to get a deal over there. Like just be yourself and just like be a good person and love what you do. Money will come. Like, you got to work hard for it.
Sean Kelly
Play the long game, build relationships. That's what I've done.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Play the long game.
Sean Kelly
So many people are like, they meet someone, they're like, how can make money off them right away?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
100% disgusting. And you're. How old are you?
Sean Kelly
29.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
God, you're so young.
Sean Kelly
It.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
You are a blessing because there are no, not a lot of 29 year old in their 20s, 30s who work like you or have that same mentality. So your parents must have done a good job or your self.
Sean Kelly
My parents were both immigrants, so I think yeah, I just had that work ethic from them, you know.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. That's amazing where they come from.
Sean Kelly
Mom came from China, dad came from the uk.
Commercial Voice (Advertisements)
Okay.
Sean Kelly
But his whole family was farmers, like similar to yours.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Right.
Sean Kelly
So they had to work their ass off.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Wow. Yep. That's. Parents have such a big part in your upbringing.
Sean Kelly
Like subconsciously you just pick up on what they do and.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yep. My dad was always work. My mom too. But she, my mom was raising the children and, and we had a, you know, we had a tough mom.
Sean Kelly
Like was she stay at home mom?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
She, My mom's very brilliant. She had her PhD, she was a professor, she was a AD. Yeah. She had multiple jobs. But when my dad, my dad had a partner who kind of screwed him in the beginning. He had a construction company. And then my mom's, you know, I'm going to be your partner. And she took over the books and that's when they Became successful. And then she raised us. Obviously my grandma had a big part in raising me. And then once my mom had another child, she was pretty much like a stay, not a stay at home mom. She worked, she did his books and stuff and she kind of like oversaw a lot of stuff. But yeah, she raised us full time. And my dad, you know, he was up at 4 and didn't come home till who knows when, you know, he ran a big construction company in asphalt excavating.
Sean Kelly
And so you grew up in a very entrepreneurial.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh yeah. And he was like not, you know, barely past high school. He was an ass. Like barely that, you know, just a ball buster. But you know, without my mom, he wouldn't have probably been able to do that.
Sean Kelly
That she kept him organized.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
100 and he was just like grinding like bidding jobs and just doing, you know, just working. And we, we had a lot of things. Like when you think back to like what your parents provided you with and now how hard it would be now even if you work really hard to get those things to kind of crazy, it's like, wow, I'm so behind.
Sean Kelly
That's a good point.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
You know, like my parents, like when I think of what they like my dad, I remember like my dad's 40th birthday and my mom's 40th birthday and I was like, wow, they had so much more. Not that that matters but like I'm always measuring, like yeah, I'm always like competitive. So wow. They had like a ranch in Montana.

Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
place in Mexico with all this horse like nine horses. I was like I live like house in Newport beach and like a rental like I need to be doing more. But it's. It's cool to be able to base that off your parents work ethic and they did that all their own. You know your parents did that all
Sean Kelly
on their own also.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Now it probably makes one you want to work your ass.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. I saw my mom. She came here with 20 bucks. That's so barely spoke English. I love self made millionaire.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
That's so. That's American dream stories you live for. Like that I live for.
Sean Kelly
Same with my dad. Self made millionaire. All from a corporate lifestyle to give me the chance to become an entrepreneur, you know.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
Which is crazy.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
And do they understand what you do and like it or.
Sean Kelly
My mom didn't at first because she used the education system to make her living. That's how it was back then with our parents. Right, right. And then my dad, he was an entrepreneur on the side. Like, he sold books on Amazon and ebay. We would go to book sales. I would go in the dumpsters and pick up books for him. So he supported me pretty early.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Wow, that's pretty cool.
Sean Kelly
Yeah, that's really cool. I think it's important to have at least one of them supporting you early on.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, yeah, 100%. If you don't have that, I mean, you're definitely growing up with more adversity, but, you know, everyone has something. No, no family is perfect. No upbringing is perfect. Like, you got to get through all the. The tough stuff. It makes you stronger.
Sean Kelly
Absolutely. But, yeah, I've definitely compared. But also, like, with inflation, like, it's not even fair. You know what I mean? A million dollars a hundred years ago is, I think, $20,000 now or $2,000, something like that. We've lost 98% of the dollar in a hundred years.
Commercial Voice (WeatherTech Ads)
That's crazy.
Commercial Voice (Empower Ads)
Crazy.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
A million will get you nowhere. It'll put one kid through schooling to up through college, depending on where they go to college. Isn't that scary?
Sean Kelly
Yeah, that's scary.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
A million.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
My mom always says that. She's like, I put three daughters through, you know, private school and USC and UCI, like that. That was my whole. That was. That's a lot of work. You know, you're not getting a wedding. You could pay for your own wedding. You could pay for your own stuff. Okay, we're on our own now. I get it. I get it. But that's. That's how it should be, you know?
Sean Kelly
You think so after 18, you're on your own.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
I mean, not 18. I mean, shit.
Sean Kelly
Or 22.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Whenever I graduate, I mean, my parents put me through. I didn't have a loan. I. I was. They're wonderful. Like, took care of all of college, but after that, like, yeah, I paid my own rent. I paid and never, never went home. Never asked for a dime. None of my sisters did. And that's how it should be, quite frankly.
Sean Kelly
That's great parenting because some kids lived with their parents till 30.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh, my God. Yeah. That. I don't under. I. With the times now, I kind of get it, but kind of don't. Like, I don't know, get a roommate, get two roommates. I don't know. I Had I lived above a bar with three roommates.
Sean Kelly
I'd rather do that.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. No, like separate rooms. But it was like the time of my life. It was like, you know, you gotta experience different things. You gotta go through them. Hardship. Like you can't be living in the ensuite of your parents house or whatever. You know. I know it's easier but I don't know, it's just.
Sean Kelly
I think get comfortable. There's no. Nothing you're responsible for when you're not paying rent and then you just get complacent.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Totally.
Sean Kelly
You know what I mean?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Totally.
Sean Kelly
I left as soon as possible. All love to my parents. But.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. Yeah.
Sean Kelly
I need to grow up.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. That says a lot about you.
Sean Kelly
I mean I. I notice I thrive when I'm a little uncomfortable too.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh.
Sean Kelly
So like even now I'll check myself a bit and like step it up.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
You know, on purpose.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
They say comfort. Comfort will kill you. You know, so it's like it's. It ruins your spirit.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
You've got it. You've got to keep pushing.
Sean Kelly
You have to. And you got to find new ways to do it because like as you get bigger, you get yes men around you and like people just hyping you up. Yeah. You got to find people that.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh, I hate that. It's like don't blow smoke up my ass.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. That's why I love Jeremy because he'll be so honest.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh yeah. He's. He's definitely on it. Definitely. Honestly, don't ask him a hydration question. I don't want to know about my hydration. But yeah, it's. Surround yourself with smarter people. I mean it's not rocket science. Smarter people. People who will push you if you're. If you're friends with people who don't. Who are just kind of dare to kiss your ass. Like you're not going anywhere.
Sean Kelly
That's the worst.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Like I hate. I don't have any friends like that. I. You know, it's.
Sean Kelly
That's how your downfall starts. Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. 100. I totally agree. Like you've got to. My. My group of girlfriends is like very small. Like I have a lot of acquaintances. But like my group of girlfriends is so tight and we all run our own businesses. All like we partner together. Like we, we collaborate together. Like who else can you trust? Like I don't. You know, most people are frauds. Like most people are trying to be something they're not or have something that they didn't fund or have. You know, it's messy you know, so
Sean Kelly
everyone puts on a front. It's just natural, I think. You know, on social media, you're just posting your highlights.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
100. I know. And it's hard not to because it's like, well, I don't want to air my dirty laundry.
Sean Kelly
You know, Like, I try not to.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Sometimes it's appropriate. But, yeah. It's like, I don't want to be a victim. I don't want to be that victim mentality either, because there's so many people on social who are, like, making a living by complaining.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
About their, you know, their autoimmune disease, or there's this or that. It's like, dude, like, I get it. Like, it's nice to try and help someone through, but. Or. Or talk about your experience, but it's another to take it to the next level and create fame around it.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
And a lot of people do that. And I'm really.
Sean Kelly
I don't like channel. I'm not the biggest fan of channels that make a living off criticizing other people.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
Like, I think that's kind of toxic.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
The whole, like, income is based off how much you could report on someone.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
A lot of that. The dark media.
Sean Kelly
Those get a lot of views.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh, they do.
Commercial Voice (Empower Ads)
It's.
Sean Kelly
It's nuts.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Really scary.
Sean Kelly
People are into that.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah. And it's. And so much of that dark media is too. Like, I'll see. Like, they post stuff that's like five years old, like, and say it's like, oh, you know, the military is doing illegal drops in Newport beach and Newport harbor. And that, like, went viral on several dark media.
Sean Kelly
Wow.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
It was like a. It was a chopper. It was not even a military chopper. It was like a Navy SEAL demo for a charity event. And it happened, like, four years ago. It was a planned demo. Right. And it wasn't even a military plane. And people in the dark media had clips of this, you know, the helicopter going into the Newport harbor saying it was an illegal military unit. Like, you know, just making. Again, making armed forces look bad, making law enforcement look bad. Because that was a narrative at the time. Like, it's so nasty what happens on there.
Sean Kelly
I mean, you have to scroll your feed. Kind of like, on edge these days.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Totally.
Sean Kelly
You're like, what are they trying to plant in my head?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yep.
Sean Kelly
You know what I mean? You can't take things as truth anymore.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
No, you have. I mean, you have to vet everything in life. You have to. 90 of your life is staying away from the wrong information and the wrong people. That's a really hard task. Like, when you think about it, as you get older, it's much easier to read people, I think, if you're paying attention and you have a brain, but 90% of your life is staying away from the wrong people. And then you find out, usually maybe too late, maybe in the middle, but they will always weed themselves out if you keep your head on straight. And a lot of that is about,
Sean Kelly
oh, wow, sorry, you're good.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
A lot of that is a lot of my brand and a lot of my PR work is that is like, steering people away from the wrong partnerships or the wrong brand affiliations or frauds or whatever, and bringing them towards the light. Because what, like, what an advantage, you know, like, if you've been in a certain community or a certain industry or, you know, you've worked with someone, you got a lot of dirt and you got a lot of positive as well.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
But to lead good people away from that, you know, some. Sometimes you're going to fall into it and you're going to make the mistake without. But to be able to lead a way into the light, that's.
Sean Kelly
I love that.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
That's gold.
Sean Kelly
Yeah. That's why women are so good at pr, I think, because they're so good at reading people.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yes. And. And men are great, too, but, man, I mean, so much easier for you guys to just have a beer and, like, put everything to bed, you know, like all the. All the they did to you. And women, like, have this, like, you
Sean Kelly
know, that sixth sense.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
I wouldn't call it a grudge. Like, forgive but never forget.
Sean Kelly
Right.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
I'm big on that. Like, forgive but don't forget, because people don't really change.
Sean Kelly
That's true.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Guys move on way quicker and they don't change. And. And guys, I feel like, give another chance that they might change or they might, you know, get a little bit better. But whether they're better or not, still a snake, you know, a snake is a snake and it sheds its skin and it's just another skin.
Sean Kelly
You know, you're spot on with that. That's always been my issue. I'll give another chance. I'll get a little better, but then they're just hiding it better.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yep.
Sean Kelly
They're still the same.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
They're better at hiding it. And that's what's scary.
Sean Kelly
And then it gets to the point where it's just, like, overwhelming.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
If you let them, it's like a
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
bad date, you know, like, you give someone a chance, like you go out with someone, it's not really the thing. And then you go out again, like, maybe you let some time go by and you try it again and you're like, nope, like same person. You know, it's just like, it's. Listen to your gut, listen to your understand on anything, any relationship, friendship, whatever, you know, sisterhood, whatever you want to call it. Yeah, no, it. Usually your gut is right.
Sean Kelly
Absolutely.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
That first experience.
Sean Kelly
Well, you ready for some power slop?
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Oh, great.
Sean Kelly
Where can I.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Ready to slap a. Put me. Put me in the ring. One of my clients said, ally, who are you fighting? And I said, I don't know. There's so many people I'd love to put up there.
Sean Kelly
Forgive but don't forget.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, exactly, exactly. One of the best, one of the best shows ever. UFC. One of the most American centers sports ever. UFC's shout out to Dana White and all he's done with that sport.
Sean Kelly
The goat.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah, he is the goat for sure.
Sean Kelly
We'll link your PR firm below. Anything else you want to end off with here? I don't know, a team strategies. Yeah, we'll link the website.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
You taking on clients or.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
No, I'm kind of, I'm kind of maxed out right now. If it's a really fabulous, you know, opportunity, maybe, but I'm pretty, I'm pretty stacked right now and I'm, I'm happy with that. I, I like to keep the portfolio small and keep it high impact. That's way better for me and I think the world in general, I think the most important thing for me is like, if you. I know we, we talk about politics a lot in this, but like, if you think staying away from politics and being agnostic, like your entire existence of business or life is the right way, like you are, you are losing. Like, you've got to educate. Like, even if it's just listening to a podcast a week or something like that, you've got to educate yourself on politics, how it affects your business, the community policy, taxes. If you do any of those things, you're. You're contributing the political climate of your community. You know, you've got to get involved or at least get educated.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
You know, because if you're not doing any of those things, one, you're probably in jail because you've got to do all these things. The government, unfortunately, is still here, but the minute you are not, you know, in this, in kind of the, the know of what's going on in your community locally in politics, then you're on the table.
Sean Kelly
So that's such an interesting Point coming from a PR person. Because most PR companies will tell their clients not to talk about politics.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
Yeah.
Sean Kelly
So you're taking the complete opposite approach
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
I would agree to take. They don't, like, they don't have to go on a podcast and talk about it or on social media and talk about. But they definitely need to have a value system and they need to understand how staying away from it is going to affect their business negatively. Because a lot of clients will come to me for government relations because they need to get, you know, whether it's permitting, whether it's, you know, just getting to know what supervisor handles what region because they want to do something on a property and they want to talk to them. Like, that's very difficult to navigate.
Sean Kelly
Yeah.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
And if you. The more, you know, even like a structure of how things work. Some people don't even. They vote, but they don't even know there's a supervisor or, you know, an assembly woman or assemblyman. Like, they don't even know the structure of the government. And they should know because you're conducting a business. And if you want to grow in some way, you've got to know who those people are. At least that there are those people.
Sean Kelly
Absolutely.
Ally (Alexandra Taylor)
You know, institution.
Sean Kelly
Check her out. We'll link her social media and her business.
