What if the biggest shift in health starts with learning how your body actually works? In this Digital Social Hour Episode, Sean Kelly sits down with Sierra Mead, the founder of South Summit, also known as the Southern Utah Holistic Health Summit, to talk about women’s health, natural wellness, endometriosis, detox pathways, holistic medicine, and why more people are looking beyond the traditional medical system for answers. Sierra shares her personal health journey, from chronic digestive issues and IBS to surgeries, endometriosis, and eventually changing her lifestyle after feeling like the standard answers were not enough. She explains how that journey pushed her to start researching natural health, follow educators like Barbara O’Neill, Dr. Austin Lake, Dr. Bradley Campbell, Gary Brecka, and others, and eventually create an in-person summit where people could learn directly from leading voices in the wellness space. The conversation covers women’s cycles, birth control, home...

Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Why are we not taught that our cycles are a detox pathway for us?
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah, there's probably tons of girls that
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
don't even know that right? And don't understand why they have endometriosis, why they have pcos. Their doctors are like just take a birth control pill. They don't understand the repercussions of birth control or the fact that that's making things worse. Did you know that as a man, you can reset the nervous system for your children and your wife? It's like this, you know, superpower that men aren't taught, but it's really powerful. So if your wife, your girlfriend, somebody's, like, freaking out or, you know, maybe having PMS or whatever, all she needs you to do is.
Co-host / Interviewer
All right, guys, we got Sierra on the show here. Gonna be filming at her event here in Utah. By the time this episode's out, I think it'll be in a week or two.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
So thanks for coming all the way here.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. Thank you for having me. I appreciate it.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. I stumbled across your event, saw the lineup, and I was like, I want to be there.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Awesome. I know. We're super excited to have you come down and film some pods while you're there and stuff, so. So, yeah, thank you so much.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. Let everyone know what the event is called, what it's about, why you started it and all that.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. Okay. So the name is so long. It's Southern Utah Holistic Health Summit. So long. It's a mouthful. You don't have to remember it. Just remember South Summit. And so on Instagram, that's what we go by. South Summit. Our website, Utah South Summit. So tried to shorten it a little bit. Yeah. So it's kind of a. A little bit of a story. Like, why I'm just crazy enough to start something like this because putting on big events is a lot.
Co-host / Interviewer
It's a lot of work.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
It is a lot of work. So myself, like many other people, I've had my own personal health journey, and I think that that's what usually starts most of us down the rabbit hole of exploring health options and looking outside the box for things. So mine started when I 10, 11, and it just started with chronic constipation, which seems like something that is not that big of a deal, but it lasted my entire life, and I have it under control now. But when you let it go on for so long and not address it and not think that there's anything serious, it just causes a ripple effect in your body. So it went from just being constipated all the time. I was diagnosed with ibs, Irritable bowel syndrome, which basically means nothing. It means that they don't know what's wrong. They don't know how to help you, so they're just slapping a name on it. And I then, as a young teenager, had my appendix removed, which doctors just think that they can go in and cut out your organs, and it doesn't matter. And if you learn what your appendix does for you, it took my constipation problem and just amplified it because your appendix directly helps you with those kinds of issues. So it's like, nope, you don't need that. We'll just cut it out. And so I didn't understand, of course. I was a young teenager, but my parents didn't understand either that this was going to have a ripple effect that led into endometriosis, which, as a woman, most of us are dealing with something like that and endometriosis or PCOS or something. And I didn't learn until later on as an adult that all of these things were just one right into the next, right into the next. Like, if you learn about the functions of the body, you can see very clearly that this is where you're going to end up if you don't address these problems early on. So mine. This is where it gets a little bit crazy. Mine got so severe, my endometriosis, that I started bleeding from my belly button.
Co-host / Interviewer
What?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
I know.
Co-host / Interviewer
I didn't even know that was possible.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
I didn't either. Like, how crazy? It's, like, insane. I had doctors, like, being like, exactly that. What? I don't. I've never seen that before. I've never heard of that before. This is crazy. I finally actually called my uncle, who's an OB gyn, and he had to go back and look it up in his textbooks, and he's like, oh, yeah, okay. It's here in my old, old textbook, and it's called umbilical endometriosis. W. And so I had endometrial tissue attached to the umbilical inside, and it just wore its way through the tissues to where it was bleeding out of my belly button. Crazy. Yeah. And so I was on, like, a healthier journey. I was, you know, making slow changes throughout my life just because I'm like, oh, I realize sugar makes me feel worse. And so I'd stop eating sugar for a period of time, and then I'd go back to eating sugar. And then I recognized that this or that started affecting my. How I would feel. So I'd cut that out of my diet, or I'd learn something and start applying that to, you know. So my progression to getting healthy was slow. But at the time that all of this was happening is when I really started taking it serious. Like, okay, I need to. I need to feel better because I was in so much pain that I was, like, curled up in Bed for two weeks out of every month. And I'm like, okay, I can't live like this. And I had. My youngest was a teenager starting high school. I'm like, I need to be able to show up for her. And so I went the traditional route. I had surgery. I actually had three different surgeries. Nine months later, it came back again.
Co-host / Interviewer
Geez.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
And so that's where I got super, super serious. Got really strict with my diet. Cut everything I could possibly think of out. And I am really happy to say that I have cleared up my endometriosis.
Co-host / Interviewer
It hasn't come back just from diet.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Holy crap.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Because you got three surgeries and you're saying the diet was more effective than that?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yep. And I wish that I would have known this beforehand. I would have saved myself three surgeries.
Co-host / Interviewer
What were the surgeries?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
So one of them was what's called laparoscopic surgery, where they go in laparoscopically interior abdominal, and they remove any endometrial tissue. And when you have endometriosis, it attaches itself to all of your organs on the outside of your uterus, so it can be on your stomach, on your intestines, on your bladder. And they go in and basically laser that off.
Co-host / Interviewer
Holy crap. That sounds intense.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. I mean, luckily the recovery for that one was the easiest one, but that's worse. Yeah. Then another surgery I had was an ablation because my cycles were so difficult and painful. So that's where they go inside your uterus and they basically cauterize the inside of your uterus. And sometimes it. For some women, you don't ever have a period anymore. Other times you still will, but it's less. Jeez, I wish I would have never done that. Because knowing what I know now, our as a woman, we're really lucky that our cycles is a detox pathway. I just learned that a few years ago.
Co-host / Interviewer
I didn't even know that.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Right.
Co-host / Interviewer
So periods are a detox.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Periods are a detox.
Co-host / Interviewer
Wow.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
It just made me look at them so differently.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. And like, we're so lucky to have an extra.
Co-host / Interviewer

be able to detox. Because when you think of that, you think of the standard, right? Being able to go to the bathroom sweating our skin. And for us girls, your period is an extra detox that's how you eliminate extra estrogen that's in your body and buildup of toxins. And I just completely eliminated one of
Co-host / Interviewer
those pathways for me periods after that surgery.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Holy crap.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. So, I mean, I. Sometimes I will have just a little bit, and so I'm grateful for that, but sometimes I don't.
Co-host / Interviewer
Wow.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
So, yeah, the things you learn after the fact. Right?
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
So. But I'm grateful because it put me on this path of deep diving and because I wasn't getting the answers from my doctors. I turned to the Internet and I turned to social media. I started following all of these voices online and people like Barbara O', Neill, Dr. Austin Lake, Dr. Bradley Campbell, Gary Breca, and I learned so much. And they were just speaking truth. They were educating people on how their body actually works and functions. And when you learn something, you're like, oh, my gosh, like, why is this not common knowledge? It feels almost criminal, right, that we don't know and understand these things, especially for girls. Like, why are we not taught that our cycles are a detox pathway for us? Like, it just.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. There's probably tons of girls that don't even know that.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Right. Yeah. And. And don't understand why they have endometriosis, why they have pcos. Their doctors are like, just take a birth control pill. And they don't understand the repercussions of birth control or the fact that that's making things worse as well. So y.
Co-host / Interviewer
Birth control is insane when you dive down that rabbit hole because half the women in America are on it.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Right, Right.
Co-host / Interviewer
And then you look at what it causes.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. Yeah, I know. It's crazy, really. Our medical system is so broken. It is so broken.

Our bodies are incredible and what they're capable of and when you just start learning, even the little bit of what it can do, it's mind blowing. So my oldest daughter just barely had a baby. So we've been down this all the rabbit holes of like pregnancy and birth
Co-host / Interviewer
and all the things home birth versus hospital.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Right. And she had a home birth. It was beautiful. One thing that I lear, I did things traditional, but she went more natural. So one thing that I just learned is when you're nursing, there is communication between the baby and your skin. So if the baby is sick, their saliva has a certain chemical in it and that's passed through your skin when you're nursing to increase antibodies that your baby will need to help them recover from being sick.
Co-host / Interviewer
From the breastfeeding.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Wow.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
And I'm like, our bodies are so intelligent, yet we think that we know better, you know?
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
And just here's a really super simple rudimentary example. But you know, we are all taught the second you get a fever to take Tylenol. A fever reducer.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
And nobody ever stops to think that maybe you're inhibiting your body's natural reaction to being sick. You know, so our God given reaction is to have a fever. The temperature of your body increases to kill off whatever's going on inside. And we're like, nope, we're just going to make it harder for our body to work and so we're going to give it a fever reducer. So now we're dragging out that process when it could have been over so fast. Instead of learning how to support your body healthy and safely through a fever, we're like, nope, fever reducer. Stop doing what you were designed to do to make me healthier. Like, it just, it just doesn't make sense.
Co-host / Interviewer
It doesn't. Yeah. Because when people think of fevers, they think of it as a bad thing, right?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
They think low. Let me reduce that.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, yeah. They think it's not safe. They think that, you know, but really they're just, just, you know, prolonging their recovery.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
It's like get better faster.
Co-host / Interviewer
Which is nuts because the fever's helping you get better. Right?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Right. Yeah. So I mean, like I said, I. After turning to online and learning all this stuff, I just started thinking, okay, I, I want to go see these people in person. I want to learn from them in person. I want more than just a three minute, five minute little clip of them explaining something. I want to really deep div and hear what they have to say on different topics. So I started researching their events. Where can I go see Them. And then I just started thinking, okay, I need to create my own. I need to bring all these people together. I want to see them. I want them all to be in one room. Let's make something incredible.
Co-host / Interviewer
That's where the magic happens.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
That's why I go to in person events, honestly, because the energy, the knowledge, the access.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. There's a lot people underestimate what an in person event can do for them. You know, they're like, oh, is there a zoom link for this? I'm like, no, just come.
Co-host / Interviewer
It's not the same.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
No, be in the room, you know, feel the energy and meet the person sitting next to you. Because the person sitting next to you is going to have an amazing story and you might learn something from them.
Co-host / Interviewer
100. The people I meet at these events, the speakers, of course. But. But when you're just walking around the expo hall.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
And you're at the same booth as someone and you just. I've met friends that way.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. I mean, we all feel like when we make this shift away from traditional medicine into trusting our bodies into natural health, sometimes we feel a little bit crazy. Sometimes we feel like we're on this road by ourselves. And so being able to come and show up and meet people and build a community for yourself, make friends and know that you're not alone in this. And I've learned so much just from conversations where sharing like, you know, I'm going through this or my child is going through this. And you learn from different people's experiences and what works and.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah, yeah. Health is such an interesting topic because there's a lot of unlearning. You have to do a lot of programming that you didn't even know was going on. So to go the natural route, you're seen as like an outcast.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, right, yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Within your family, within your friend group.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
So it's a little uncomfortable at first.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, for sure.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Sometimes I just have a hard time biting my tongue when people are like, dealing with something. I'm like, oh, you gotta try this. Oh, you gotta try this. You know, And I really just wanted to be able to shout from the rooftops, like all the things that I've learned. And this is my way of being able to shout from the rooftops because it's so heartbreaking to watch.

you know that there's a better way to support their body and that the outcome for them will be so different if they trust. I think that's probably the thing that's the most criminal is that we have been taught to not trust our bodies anymore, for sure. And last year we had Barbara o'. Neill. And that, I would say is one of her biggest takeaways is teaching you to trust your body again. I mean, so this is just last year. I. We all think we know and understand how our digestive system works. You know, our stomach breaks things down. You eliminate. Like, it's pretty basic. So she taught a two part lecture, two hours each, so four hours total on the digestive system. I was mind blown by the time she was done. Just the detail of how our digestive system works, what makes it work better, what we do to ourselves that inhibit it, you know, all the things. And you walk away with such an appreciation for your body, a better understanding. So when somebody tells you you need to drink water, you're not just taking that lightly. You're like, oh, no, I understand. I really need to drink water.
Co-host / Interviewer
With electrolytes, right?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yes. Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Because apparently a lot of tap waters these days is not good for you.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
I try to drink electrolytes and sometimes they say salt. Add salt to the water, Gary. Vodka says that, right?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yep.
Co-host / Interviewer
And you could get fancy with it from there with hydrogen and all that, but.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, yeah. No, salt is amazing. It's like, it can do so much for you. So, yeah, a little pinch of salt in your water or under your tongue before you drink it helps actually pull the water into your cells so you're not just like peeing out water constantly. It's actually absorbing into your cells and hydrating you.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. So that's something I had to unlearn because growing up, my mom didn't let me eat salt. Like, we thought it was bad for you.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Well, table salt is.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah, table salt.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
But if you get good salt, you need good salt.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah, A lot of the sea salt isn't good these days. I just found out. Yeah, the microplastics and the metals.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Right. So we have. One of our sponsors, actually, is Redmond Salt. They own salt mines in Utah, actually. So one thing that's really cool about them is they have an underground sea and that's where they harvest their salt from.
Co-host / Interviewer
That's cool.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
And because it's underground, it's like this little Sealed area. So, you know, we deal with chemicals that are being dropped in the sea, and that's what's causing the heavy metals in sea salts or chemicals that are being sprayed in the sky. This is protected. And so you get all these rich minerals.
Co-host / Interviewer
That's great. I gotta try them out.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, they're awesome. They have. So they have a lot of really great products, so I'm excited to have them there. They will also have a booth there. And so you gotta check out all their products.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah, definitely check them out. But, yeah, water's such an interesting topic. Yeah, the water you bathe in, the water you drink.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Mm.
Co-host / Interviewer
It's not good for you these days.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
I know.
Co-host / Interviewer
Like, I have the craziest filter at my house.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Oh, that's cool.
Co-host / Interviewer
You have to.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yes.
Co-host / Interviewer
Especially out here. Like, Vegas has the worst tap water.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
I think they measured it because there's a site that publicly measures all the city's water.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Oh, okay.
Co-host / Interviewer
And there's, like, uranium.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Oh, my gosh. Well, I mean, they used to. I don't know if you know this history, but they used to test all of the atom bombs here.
Co-host / Interviewer
That might be why.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
So my, like, great, great, great uncle or something. So my family would run sheep, and they owned property in Nevada, and they would run their sheep down here, and then they take them up to Cedar Mountain. And during the years where they were testing, there was so much fallout from that that they lost entire flocks. Like, their flocks were being born with. With, like, missing legs and two heads and I mean, like, crazy.
Co-host / Interviewer
Like, straight out of a movie. Like Chernobyl.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. So there's a couple books on it and stuff, and how the fallout affected a lot of people. But, yeah, that doesn't surprise me with, like, heavy metals and uranium and stuff in the ground. I mean, there was a lot of.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah, it stays in the ground. It's not like it's gonna go anywhere. Right.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer

Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. Okay, so I'm so excited we have an expert in mold coming to speak.
Co-host / Interviewer
I need to talk to him.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, he's awesome. So he'll be talking about mold and different toxins in the home. And he has some mold dogs and he'll actually be in the area setting up appointments for anybody in the area that wants want to have their dogs come and test their home. And we're gonna see if we can get them to do a little test with the dogs on the stage and hide the mold and like go find it.
Co-host / Interviewer
Well, a lot of hotels are mold.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Oh.
Co-host / Interviewer
Especially in Vegas because they close the windows here because a lot of people were jumping off.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Right.
Co-host / Interviewer
They lost their money.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
So like there's no ventilation, there's no airflow. So hotels have a ton.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
You know, you can smell it the second you enter the room.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah, some people are very sensitive.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
I'm not, unfortunately. But some people could just smell it instantly.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
I'm like, oh, really? Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Was there any in here?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
No.
Co-host / Interviewer
Okay, that's good. That would have been awkward. Well, in the older buildings, cuz it just rains and then, you know, gets mold. It's common, right?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, Yeah. I mean, if you can open up your doors, open up your windows and stuff, that's the best thing you can do for sure. Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
But a lot of people are dealing with illness from that. They don't even know they're living in it.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, it's kind of like this like secret, like deadly killer that people don't think about and don't know about. And you even testing for it is hard, Very hard, you know, So I
Co-host / Interviewer
got a test at my house, but like they just picked a piece of the ceiling. Like they didn't test the whole house. You know what I mean?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Did they bring in dogs?
Co-host / Interviewer
No.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, they need to bring in dogs.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. You're the second person who told me this. Now the dogs can really smell it out.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, it's kind of cool. They've got videos online. You can watch their dogs go and do their thing and stuff. So that's fun.
Co-host / Interviewer
That's cool. What else have you been researching in the health space? Oh gosh, there's a lot of different topics.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Right, I know. So. Well, let me tell you a little bit about what we've got coming. So we have on top of the incredible keynote speakers, we also have Dr. Michelle Jorgensen. She's a biological dentist and so she'll be talking about the connection between our mouth and our entire body. And I feel like that is one that will blow people's minds because they don't understand the connection between our oral health and our entire body. So one thing that she says regularly is she's never met a single person that's had cancer that didn't also have an infection in their mouth.
Co-host / Interviewer
Holy crap. Yeah, so it's 100 link.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, yeah. I mean, insane people don't understand the dangers of root canals.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah, those are dangerous.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yes. So she'll talk a little bit about that as well. So yeah, we're excited to have her just kind of open that world for people and be more aware of how connected that is for our body. I mean, pretty much if you look in like where the infection is in your body, that's tied to a specific area in your, you know, at a specific organ or area in your body and stuff.
Co-host / Interviewer
So I'm never going back to a traditional dentist.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Right.
Co-host / Interviewer
I see a holistic one out here.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Nice.
Co-host / Interviewer
It's amazing. Yeah, they clean my teeth every three months with ozone therapy.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Oh, nice.
Co-host / Interviewer
Have you heard of that? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So no, like, because some of the old dentists use weird cleaners. There's like microplastics in it and weird stuff. Heavy metals.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
So that's big. They take a scan and use AI to see your results.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Nice.
Co-host / Interviewer
Tell you if you have cavities and then. Yeah, they have the connection. So they see where your cavity is and connect it to the rest of your body, which I like.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, yeah. That's awesome.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. We have one office in St. George as well, that that's a biological dentist as well. So. And they are so busy when you call to make appointments, they're like three months booked out.
Co-host / Interviewer
Doesn't surprise me.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, doesn't surprise me either.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. Cuz they're people aren't getting the dental care they need.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
You know.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. We also have another vendor actually that's coming and they specialize in educating dental offices in going more natural.
Co-host / Interviewer
That's cool.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
And so I'm excited to have them and hopefully some really good people can make some connections with them to, you know, because the services need to be available to more people and they just need to know, you know, what's out there and stuff. And dentists need to be educated.
Co-host / Interviewer
I agree. Yeah. Right now there is a bit of a price curve, I think, for if you want to go biological versus regular, but hopefully it can get closer to each other. Yeah, right.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, absolutely.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. I never want price to be a factor for health.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
No. And the more we can bring awareness to all of these things, the services, the products, all of it, it's going to help because, you know, the best companies kind of have the corner edge right now where they can charge a lot more. But bringing more awareness, more people just helps with the, you know, natural flow of competition in the market. And so it makes things more affordable for us as the consumer 100.
Co-host / Interviewer
So that's awesome that Barbara spoke last year. She is a legend.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
She is a legend.
Co-host / Interviewer
I've seen her stuff for years.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. Have you ever seen her in person?
Co-host / Interviewer
No. I'd love to meet her, but I remember she got canceled too, or something. Yeah, that was bs.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
She. Well, she's banned from her own country.
Co-host / Interviewer
Okay.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
No, Australia.
Co-host / Interviewer
Australia.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. So she'll go home because her family lives there, but she's not allowed to teach at all. She'll get a huge fine if she's
Co-host / Interviewer
caught teaching, even if it's on social media or. How does that work?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
I don't think they can control that because it's. Yeah, I don't know that they can control that still.
Co-host / Interviewer
So she can't teach in person. That's crazy.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, she can't teach in person. So she owns a health retreat in Australia. And so when she's home, she's around there, but she's not allowed to go in and teach any classes that are happening.
Co-host / Interviewer
That's insane.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Australia, huh?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. So basically when it all happened, her husband was like, well, you can, you know, give it up and be home and enjoy retirement or you can start traveling overseas and keep teaching. And she says, I'm going to travel because this message needs to get out. People need to understand that how God designed their body. And so she just started traveling and as one random person was like, hey, can I film you and put you up on YouTube? And she's like, sure. And she just went crazy. Blew up from that. Yep. That's awesome. So her videos are amazing, but she. It's nothing like seeing her in person. Kind of like we were talking about. I mean, I've followed Her for years, too. I've watched tons of her stuff. I even bought her course and listened to some of those lectures. Sitting in front of her in person is a whole different thing.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Like, just. She's amazing.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. You're paying for that access. That's how I see it. You know, because anyone could buy the book, but when you're with them in the room, you could ask whatever you want.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Mm.
Co-host / Interviewer
You know?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. And she's so gracious and just spends the time to connect with people.
Co-host / Interviewer
That's awesome.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
You know, she'll sit in line forever, signing people's books and taking pictures and loving on all the babies. She loves the babies. So, yeah. I mean, she's very personable and just so intelligent. I mean, she's 70 years old, standing up on stage, no notes, not a single, like, little screen, bullet points, nothing. Everything is off the top of her head. She's, you know, she's the queen of the whiteboard. So she's writing everything down. And we even switched topics on her last minute. We're like, hey, instead of this one, we've had a few people asking about this other topic. Can we switch? And she's like, sure.
Co-host / Interviewer
Wow.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Just gets up and that's impressive. Yeah. Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Good for her. 70 still, with recall like that. Yeah, that's unheard of.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Average lifespan in the US is 71 for a male now.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Oh, my God.
Co-host / Interviewer
Isn't that nuts?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
That's sad.
Co-host / Interviewer
It's going down.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Used to be 75, I think, for male.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. And that's just sad because we. Our bodies are built to last. They are built to withstand so much. But we have to understand how to take care of it. And I'm not the professional. I'm not the doctor. I'm just, like, regurgitating little things that I've learned from these people. And that's why I'm like, I want to see them in person because I want to continue to learn. I want to continue to better my health and. And my families. Like, when my kids are dealing with something, man, I'm, like, all over it. What can I learn? What can I research? What can help? For sure, that's usually the biggest motivator and factors. We put ourselves on the back burner way too often. But if we can prioritize our family and we really need to prioritize ourselves, too, something like this is an opportunity to do that, you know, to come and prioritize yourself and your family. And we specifically do a longer conference so that it gives you permission to slow down for a minute. Some of the conferences that are two days, you feel so rushed. You're running around the whole time making sure that you're hearing all the things. Typically, there's breakout sessions you're going to. Which one do I choose? I want to hear both of them. You're having FOMO and anxieties for sure. What am I missing in the next room?
Co-host / Interviewer
You know, definitely been there.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
And trying to run around all the vendors. You don't want to miss something. And because this is a longer format, we don't do breakout sessions. There's one main stage. Everybody will speak from the main stage. There's no reason to miss anything. And. And our attendees hate that. Attendees hate having that anxiety. And the speakers don't like it either. They've all told us, thank you so much for not doing breakout sessions because
Co-host / Interviewer
they want the biggest audience possible, you know?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. They want to feel everybody's energy. They want to feel people in the room. And so.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah, because I've been to events with, like, five breakout rooms at the same time, and then only 20 people show up. These speakers are flying out speaking to 20 people people. It's like.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, I know. It's disappointing for them.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. I've been to events, too, with my daughter or a friend, and we're like, okay, well, we want both of these topics. So you go to one and I'll go to one. And then it's like. Like you feel like, well, that was disappointing that you're not sitting there with the person that you came with, you know? So, yeah, you don't get. You don't have to miss anything.
Co-host / Interviewer
For sure. I'm pumped to see Breca again.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, it's been a while, so I haven't seen him in person ever. So I'm super excited to see him. He's. He's from online. He's just full of life and energy, and so I'm excited to see what, you know, he brings to the stage with that. And on the complete opposite side of that, we've got Dr. Austin Lake, who is so calm and just grounded, where you watch his videos and you can just feel that presence that he has. And so I'm excited to see that, too.
Co-host / Interviewer
You know, to is you got some really great speakers. Yeah, I'm very excited because I'll be filming interviews with them there. Dr. Sherry, too.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. Dr. Sherry Tenpenny. Yep. She's been a health advocate for several years. She kind of, you know, was one of those ones that got canceled for speaking out against Vaccines and things. So her lecture is definitely, I'm sure gonna be interesting. So.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah, the vaccines is a hot topic.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
That's why your daughter probably did the home birth. Right. Because they make you get five on day one.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yep.
Co-host / Interviewer
Crazy.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Imagine being born and getting five.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
I know.
Co-host / Interviewer
What is that?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Well, and it's just us today, we don't even know what that's like because we never did that. You know, that's. And even my own children, I didn't have that.
Co-host / Interviewer
Oh really?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
They had, they had some, but not five.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. Now it's 72, I think.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Zero to 18.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. And my kids. Kids didn't get 72.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. I probably got like. Because they, they bundled them so you don't really know sometimes, but I probably got like 20 or 30.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, yeah, I think I'm probably on that.
Co-host / Interviewer
You probably got less maybe. Yeah, I think it went up.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yes. Because I'm older than you.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. But yeah, I think that's about like where my kids were at too, is probably 20 to 30.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. Which was fine. I think we weren't too messed up. But now the, the mental health and autism is psycho. Dude. What is going on?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
One out of 12 kids in Cali have autism now.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
I saw that, I just saw that the other day. Somebody was talking about that. Yeah. It's crazy. And what I feel so bad for is parents feel so helpless and they are searching for anything that will it help their child, improve their child's life, make it easier for them. And what they don't realize is some of those things are. Could be the simplest. I say simplest because like your diet seems like the simplest thing. But the reality of changing our diet and our lifestyle is hard. It's hard. It's getting easier though. The more people are talking about things, the more products that are out there, the more options are there. Even in my small town, we've got farmers market markets with people growing organic food. We've got little farm stands that are there, you know, 24, 7, so you can go and get those things. People selling raw dairy, people selling, you know, hormone free meats, you know, butchers and stuff. So because of this shift in the conversation, more and more of those type of options are popping up. And you just need to know what it is that you're buying, what you, what you need. And so it just all comes down to that education piece. But being able to help your child is one of the best feelings.
Co-host / Interviewer
Absolutely.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Ever.
Co-host / Interviewer
I can't wait to do that one though. I don't have kids yet. But, yeah, I'm excited with everything. I know all the people I know. When I get blood work now, I send it to five different doctors, get their opinion.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Nice.
Co-host / Interviewer
You know, I don't just get one opinion. You got to get multiple opinions these days. I just went through my friend's misdiagnosis, and, oh, my God, I wish we got multiple opinions because that was like a life or death thing. We got a misdiagnosis from one doctor.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Wow.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. That's scary.
Co-host / Interviewer
Gary Breck always says that's, like, the third leading cause of death.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Wow.
Co-host / Interviewer
Misdiagnosis. You know, our system just labels whatever they think it is.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Well, and a lot of doctors don't even know how to read blood work anymore, or they're not doing the right tests or like. Gary Brecke's lecture on thyroid is fascinating, and it's a perfect example of how doctors aren't taught to do the right tests and then understand what they're looking at.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
So, yeah, that's crazy. My family physician that we use the clinic in town, the. They are fantastic at blood work and understanding blood work and explaining it to you so that you understand. So I'm excited to have them, actually. Both the doctor in the office and the nurse practitioner will be speaking. Both are excellent. So I'm excited to have them.
Co-host / Interviewer
That's great.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Participating as well. But, yeah, I mean, it's. It's hard to find somebody that understands blood work 100%.
Co-host / Interviewer
Blood work is an interesting one because they're comparing your results to the average of Americans, which are unhealthy, healthy. So they'll make you feel good when you see your results. You're above average, but it doesn't mean you're healthy.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Right.
Co-host / Interviewer
So I learned that. And then a lot of the basic blood work tests don't measure what you need.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
You know, you have that.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
They have to specifically ask for it.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Like, even a hormone panel, if they don't specifically ask for certain things, then.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. If you don't specifically do that because your insurance doesn't want to cover that, so you have to specifically ask. Ask. And even then, it might not cover it.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Right. Yeah. I mean, that's a lot of pain out of pocket, for sure.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. That's where we're at these days. When you go to our route, not much is covered.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Right.
Co-host / Interviewer
So it is what it is right now.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yep.
Co-host / Interviewer
Hopefully it gets better. I'm excited to see the farmers market in your town.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Go. Whenever I travel somewhere, I go to the Farmers market.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Oh, nice. Yeah, yeah, they have two. There's the St. George Farmers Market and the Washington City Farmers Market.
Co-host / Interviewer
What days are those?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Saturday mornings.
Co-host / Interviewer
I think I'll be there Saturday.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, I think you will. Yeah, I think that's so. Yeah. Bright and early because it's gonna be hot. I know. I'm welcoming everybody to my town in the middle of the heat. I know, I get it. But it's. We're gonna be inside. We'll be in the convention center.
Co-host / Interviewer
So I'm used to the heat out here.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
I know, right? It's. We'll be like maybe 5 degrees cooler than Las Vegas.
Co-host / Interviewer
There we go.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
So, yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. Heat doesn't faze me anymore.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah.
Co-host / Interviewer
Vegas has trained me nice.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
You know, it thins your blood.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah, it thins my lips and cracks my lips for sure.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. No, I lived in St. George my whole life, so. Yeah, I love the desert and the heat and so. Yeah, absolutely. But for anybody that is In Las Vegas, St. George, if you are not aware, is only an hour 45 minute drive. So less than two hours north of you. Super fast. Come up and see us. I mean, it's. It'll be so worth it. Even if you can only make one day, one day of this conference is going to feel like an entire conference. I mean, it's just we have 25 different speakers and they're all talking about different things. Because we wanted a really well rounded approach to health, not just like pigeonhole into one thing and only have our target market be that. And we need to address so many things on lots of different levels to really help move the needle for ourselves. We can't just do one thing and think that that's going to solve everything because our whole body works together.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah. Health is such a full approach. I just learned about the nervous system this week.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Nice.
Co-host / Interviewer
I was just totally neglecting that. But if you don't have a good nervous system, your body can't heal.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
So did they talk about grounding? Take your shoes off and go touch grass.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah, grounding. Breath. Work. Work ways to reset your nervous system because your body literally won't heal to its full capacity if your nervous system. If you're stressed out. Basically, yeah. Which is crazy. I didn't even connect that.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
But did you know that as a man you can reset the nervous system for your children and your wife? What, just by touch?
Co-host / Interviewer
No way. Yeah, just touching them. Wow. My wife always wants to hug me, so.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah. So it's helping to reset her nervous system. So take it seriously. Be able to hold her and be strong and steady, because that helps calm her nervous system down.
Co-host / Interviewer
We got a lot of powers, guys, huh?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
You do. It's. It's like this, you know, superpower that men aren't taught, but it's. It is. It's really powerful. So if you. Your wife or your girlfriend, somebody's like. Like freaking out or, you know, maybe having PMS or whatever, all she needs you to do is hold her.
Co-host / Interviewer
Wow. So simple, right? Yeah, so simple. I need to do that more often.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Yeah, I tell my husband, too.
Co-host / Interviewer
That's funny. Well, we'll link the. The conference in the video. Yeah, the link to it. Anything else you want to close off with?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Oh, gosh. If you feel like you missed out on the biohackers conference that just happened, you got to come here. I mean, we are going to be closer to home, so it's going to be easier to get to. And we're like a fourth of the cost.
Co-host / Interviewer
Yeah.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
And more intimate and. Yeah. More intimate experience. And, I mean, in order to change your life, you have to start prioritizing, you know, what you do and your health and take it seriously. And my prayer over this whole thing is really for people that need it, that are praying for answers, that are looking for solutions for themselves, for their family members. Those are the people that, you know, will show up and will be there. And I want to meet you all. I want to hear your stories. We want to make big change for a lot of people because if you can fix your health, you get to go out into the world and accomplish really great things. Things. And I want so many people to go and accomplish amazing things and. But you got to be able to take care of yourself first so that you can, you know, do your day to day and do the normal and. And do the incredible, beautiful.
Co-host / Interviewer
Well, check out the link, guys, if you're interested. Event is in a week from the episode coming out. So what are the dates for people listening?
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
June 17th through the 20th. You can come all four days or come one day if you can. Gary Brecke is speaking on Saturday, so if you can only come on Saturday, come Saturday. But your ticket will allow you to come and go as needed. So pop in and out. But yeah, awesome.
Co-host / Interviewer
See you there, guys. Peace.
Sierra (Guest / Event Organizer)
Thank you.
Co-host / Interviewer

Guest: Sierra Mead
Host: Sean Kelly
Episode #: DSH #2011
Date: June 10, 2026
This episode features Sierra Mead, founder of the Southern Utah Holistic Health Summit (South Summit). Sierra shares her deeply personal health journey, why she became passionate about holistic wellness, and her mission to educate others about the body's innate wisdom. The conversation delves into women’s health, the power (and pitfalls) of modern medicine, the importance of community, and highlights of the upcoming health summit. Expect honest reflections, practical tips, and bold perspectives on trusting your body, questioning medical norms, and building a supportive network in natural health.
On Healing through Diet
"You got three surgeries and you're saying the diet was more effective than that?" – Host (08:40)
On Menstrual Cycles as Detox
"Our cycles is a detox pathway... that's how you eliminate extra estrogen that's in your body and buildup of toxins." – Sierra (12:34)
On Community "When we make this shift away from traditional medicine into trusting our bodies into natural health, sometimes we feel a little bit crazy." – Sierra (19:13)
On Misdiagnosis
"Misdiagnosis... that's, like, the third leading cause of death." – Host (43:43)
On the Event Experience “There's one main stage. Everybody will speak from the main stage. There's no reason to miss anything.” – Sierra (38:34)
Warm, energetic, candid, and sometimes provocative. Sierra is earnest, passionate, and openly critical of mainstream medical practices; the host is both affirming and inquisitive, openly agreeing and adding anecdotes from his own experience. Their language is direct, lightly edgy, and intentionally challenges conventional wisdom.
Sierra’s overarching message: Your body is profoundly intelligent—listen to it, support it, and find community with others on the same journey. The Southern Utah Holistic Health Summit is the culmination of that vision, bringing together health innovators and advocates for deep learning, sharing, and community-building. If you’re dissatisfied with standard health protocols or simply craving a more empowering outlook, this conversation (and the summit) offer actionable hope and a unique sense of belonging.
“If you can fix your health, you get to go out into the world and accomplish really great things. But you got to be able to take care of yourself first...” – Sierra (49:07)
