Before we had AT&T business Wireless coverage, our delivery GPS wasn't the most reliable. Once our driver had to do a 14 point turn to get back on route. A 14 point turn. An influencer even livestream the whole thing. Not good for business. Now with AT&T business Wireless routes are updating on the fly and deliveries are on time. And the influencer did get us 53 new followers though.

Hey discos, need a little more Disgrace Land in your life? Just a touch to get you through. Yeah, me too. This is the podcast that comes after the podcast. Welcome to Disgraceland. The afterparty. Welcome to the Disgraceland bonus episode.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
A little thing we like to call the after party. This is the show after the show. The party after the party.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
The bridge to get you from one full episode of Disgraceland to the other. The backyard to dig into our mission.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
To uncover the truth. To confront the myth. To reclaim the story. On this bonus episode, a top five Soccer Hooligan Rockstar Countdown as inspired by this week's full episode on the Hillsboro Disaster. Rod, the bod, Sir Elton, the Cartel, some metalhead tryhards and more. Plus your voicemails, texts, emails, comments, DMs,
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
and as always, a whole lotta Rosie.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
This is the podcast for the musically obsessed, the outsiders, the independent thinkers who know that the best history is the
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
history that gets buried.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Disgraceland is where I tell the stories they didn't want told. The kind you'll End up telling someone else. All right, discos, let's get into it. All right, so we're doing a little bit of sports this week because the World cup is among us. But, you know, sports through the lens
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
of chaos and tragedy, which is very disgraceland.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Our Hillsboro tragedy episode is in the
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
feed for you guys. That's what prompted all this. This is the story of the 97 innocent victims who died at this soccer match back in 1989, and the story
Host (likely the main podcast host)
about how they were scapegoated by authorities. It's just.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
It's maddening. It's. I knew nothing about this story when
Host (likely the main podcast host)
I first heard about it about five
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
years ago or so.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Anyways, it's an incredible tale.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
I hope you dig it. Check it out. It's in the feed right now. We have it live now because at this time of year, the World cup is happening, NBA finals are happening, Stanley cup finals, the NCAA baseball tournament. Sports is dominating our attention at the moment, is what I'm saying.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
So I thought I'd do a little
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
high fidelity Rob Gordon Championship Vinyl Top 5 Rock and roll soccer crossover moments,
Host (likely the main podcast host)
with an emphasis, of course, on the
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
strange and bizarre and the unknown.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Unknown, at least to me, and hopefully
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
to you as well.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
All right, so let's get into it. Number five, the rock and roll myth
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
that Rod Stewart and. No, not that myth, that Rod Stewart was signed by a professional soccer club by Brentford FC Brentford Football Club, back
Host (likely the main podcast host)
before he became a famous rock star. The myth goes.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
As the myth goes, Rod chose not to play professionally in order to sing about hot legs and girls named Maggie Mae.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
But that's not true, okay? What is true is that Rod tried out.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
It was his life's ambition as a child up to that point, to become a professional soccer player.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
He tried out, but the team never called him back.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
But this was believed forever, basically. And the story originated with a young publicist back in the day when Rod's career was just getting going. And the story was embellished throughout the years. People believed it. It was, of course, overshadowed by another Rod Stewart rock and roll myth that I'm not gonna get into here.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
And it wasn't until Rod himself set
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
the record STR in his 2012 autobiography, which is really good, by the way. I highly recommend it. I'm sure, however, that Rod was. Was at least pleased with the notion that people thought he could have been a professional soccer player.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Football player.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
I can't say football. I have to. I have to say soccer. English listeners, forgive me. European listeners, I should say, forgive me. When I say soccer, I know fully that you guys call it football. And I'm just gonna say soccer because that's what we do over here. We have a whole other game.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
You know, this.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
All right, I'm not gonna get into that. Listen, I'd be pleased too, if the world thought that I, in addition to being a world famous rock star, could also be a professional athlete.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
And, you know, Rod kind of looks the part.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
I know it's weird to think of 1970s Rod Stewart as a professional athlete, a professional anything besides a rock star, based on the whole peacock attire and the, you know, the hair, all that.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
But if you look at 70s photos
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
of him playing soccer, he kind of looks great.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
He looks the part, I gotta say.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
It's a believable story, but it's not true. All right, number four, listen. What's up with the dudes in Iron Maiden? I swear, they're like superhumans or something. Singer Bruce Dickinson literally flies Iron Maiden and their crew from gig to gig in a massive Boeing 747 jumbo jet.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
This isn't like John F. Kennedy Jr. Up there in a little prop plane. A jumbo jet.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
All right?
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Bruce Dickinson's also vegan.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
He's, I think, 276 years old and still looks 33.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
I think he's straight edge. And he was once ranked top 20
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
in the UK as a fencer, which I'm told is a sport.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
But I'm not here to talk about fencing.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
I'm here to talk about Steve Harris, Ironman's bass player.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
And in addition to inventing his own style of bass playing that has been aped by tons of heavy metal bass
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
guitarists over the years. Steve Harris, bass player for Iron Maiden, was also scouted as a kid by
Host (likely the main podcast host)
legendary footballer Wally St. Pierre and signed to West Ham United. Signed into their youth program. Anyways, now, Steve Harris, unlike Rod Stewart, he actually did get the call and
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
he chose to play rock and roll instead. Still supports West Ham United to this day. Pretty cool.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
All right, number three, this is the
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
one I really want to talk about. 1996, great year.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
So called swaggiest game of soccer ever
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
was played in East London at a charity event during the height of Brit pop.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
And more specifically, during the height of
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
the Oasis Blur battle for Brit pop supremacy.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
They literally called it the battle of Brit Pop. We'll get into the mechanics of all that.
Listener Sally from Colorado
What?
Host (likely the main podcast host)
That was in the exclusive section of
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
this afterparty and more into the Oasis and Blur rivalry than we're going to do right here.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Go to disgraceandpod.com to sign up, get that exclusive content, get other exclusive content, get ad free content, all that.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
All right, disgrace.com that conversation is coming up later. But back to this one right here. Again, the battle for Brit pop supremacy. Now, the battle, you might be surprised to learn, was won by Blur with their 1995 chart dominance of their single Country House. Not country Home, Country House, reigning supreme over the Oasis single Roll with it. However, the war, the Britp pop war, was ultimately won by Oasis with their recent dominance, as witnessed by their 2025 unprecedented cultural and commercial resurgen new tour. All that stuff. You guys know all about that.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
But back in 1996, it was still
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
undetermined which of these two Brit pop rivals was going to reign supreme.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
And no one knew who was going
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
to reign supreme on the soccer field, on the pitch, as they say. Okay, Two celebrity teams pulled together to
Host (likely the main podcast host)
bang balls out on the field. And one team was captained by Damon Albert from Blur.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
And the other team was captained by Liam Gallagher from Oasis. It should be mentioned that Damon is a supporter of Chelsea and Liam is a supporter of Man City on the field that day.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
A ton of drama.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
As you can guess. Anytime you have Liam Gallagher and Damon from Blur in the same vicinity, there's going to be drama. Most of it, however, was brought on by Liam. He was in Damon's face almost the entire time, physically all over him all game. At one point, he tried pulling down his pants. At another point in the middle of the game, he took a smoke break. Liam did on the field. That makes sense.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Chuck the. Chuck the can of beer at a reporter.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
That makes sense as well.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Just genius Gallagher hooligan fieldwork. And of course, these guys, they looked
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
great the entire time.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Pictures of this event are fascinating. Just fascinating.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
They're awesome.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
You can tell Damon's taking it kind of seriously. He's kind of dressed in his own little uni. And then you got. You got Liam, who's in a. In a kangal on the field.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Fucking amazing.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
It's so good. Damon's team won and Liam, of course,
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
was not happy about that.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
You can hear, like I said, you
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
can hear about the battle of Brit pop. More about that with Szeth and I in the exclusive section of this afterparty, Disgracelandpod.com to sign up. But if you want to hear more about this is fascinating. If you want to hear more about how soccer fight songs, ok, the big stadium chants. If you want to hear more about how that music directly inspired the pop mastery of Oasis. You gotta check out our Oasis episodes in our archive. All right.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Okay. Next, number two on our Rob Gordon
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
championship vinyl list of soccer. What are we doing? Soccer Rock and Roll Madness.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Number two. This one is the weirdest. And I've largely ignored stories in my
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
podcasting career about Mexican cartels getting involved in the music industry
Host (likely the main podcast host)
sports world as well. But I am blown away at the lengths that the cartels go to to
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
grow their criminal enterprises.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
In 2017, the United States Department, United
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
States Treasury Department, revealed that one professional
Host (likely the main podcast host)
soccer player, Mexican player Rafael Marquez, was
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
being used, along with a popular Mexican musician, Julio Alvarez, to launder money for one of the cartels.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Not just like, just imagine.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
We'll get to this in a second.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Marquez played for Barcelona and was the
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
captain of the Mexican national team. Okay, so just imagine that you work
Host (likely the main podcast host)
your whole life to get where you are, the literal top of the game, of your game. And one day a violent drug trafficker comes knocking and he tells you that you're going to help him launder his
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
truckloads of money by buying and holding
Host (likely the main podcast host)
expensive assets for him. And then you get popped by the feds and your career is ruined.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Sort of. Not really. Still, yikes. Same goes for the musician here.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
That's almost a little more understandable that
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
a musician would get caught up in kind of a racket with a cartel, given that the history of the music business, it's so closely related to the crime business.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
But sports seems a little more pure, I guess. Anyways, Marquez, the player here, despite the drug cartel allegations, somehow cleared his name with Mexican authorities.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
I'm putting quotes around authorities and built
Host (likely the main podcast host)
a career as a coach and is now, incredibly to this day, the head coach of the Mexican national team. There's a lot I could say about this story that I'm not saying. You can kind of read between the lines here, and all the info is
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
out there and easy to find if you're interested.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Okay.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Number one.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Now, I knew the Rod Stewart story here.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
I knew about the Oasis and Blur match. I knew about Iron Maiden, Steve Harris. I knew that he was some kind of child savant, I should say. I didn't quite know the whole soccer
Host (likely the main podcast host)
connection, and I'm not surprised about the
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Mexican cartel infiltrating the world of soccer in music through players and musicians.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
But somehow, in all of my music history research, I never came across the fact that Elton John not only owned one, but two professional soccer clubs, Watford
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
FC and the Los Angeles Aztecs.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Even more important is the fact that Elton John brought this football club, Watford
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Am I saying that correctly? I'm probably not. I apologize to the good people of Watford, wherever that is.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
He brought this football club back from financial and competitive ruin. Lowest of the fourth division, ranked dead last, 92 of 92, all the way to the top tier of the first. Basically, Elton John did what Ryan Reynolds
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
and Rob from Always Sunny in Philadelphia did with Rexam.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Elton John already did it. It's just that there wasn't a Hulu
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
back then when he did it, so they didn't make a TV show about it.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
But you know what's wild? I thought of this this morning when I came across this fact when I interviewed Elton John back in 2019.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
It was May of 2019, and he
Host (likely the main podcast host)
asked me, it was sort of like
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
after the interview was done, and he
Host (likely the main podcast host)
asked me where I was from.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
And I told him Boston. And he got really animated and excited. He wanted it.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
I thought, this is hysterical. He started talking to me about the Boston Bruins because they're in the Stanley cup at that moment. And he was. He was just really animated about the
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
success of Boston sports and wanted to know what it was like to be a Boston sports fan. Crazy.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
And this is because, like I said, the Bruins were in the Stanley cup at that moment.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
They lost to the Blues.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
The Celtics were in the Eastern Conference finals. I think they had just lost to Cleveland.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
I think that was that LeBron's Cavaliers, I think it was.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
But a couple months earlier, the Patriots had won the Super Bowl.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
They'd beaten the Rams.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
And that was in January. And a couple months before that, in October, early November, the Red Sox had
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
won the World Series.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
It's just fascinating to think that out
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
there as a Boston sports fan, that,
Host (likely the main podcast host)
you know, Elton John is sitting out there somewhere, you know, thinking about all
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
the success that we are having as
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Boston sports fans really blew my mind. And I am so pissed off at myself for not knowing this history.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Then about Elton John and the football team that he still owns a piece of. He's not running the team anymore with
Host (likely the main podcast host)
his buddy, but that he actually did what, again, what Ryan Reynolds and Rob
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
from Always Sunny are celebrated for doing.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
It's like we've almost completely forgotten about this. It's not, I guess because Elton John
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
has done so much, maybe it's like, oh, yeah, yeah, he did this thing too.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
But I don't know.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
I find it completely fascinating.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Anyways, there's a little rock and roll
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
in soccer history for you guys. Anyways, I find it completely fascinating and I'm a little upset at myself that
Host (likely the main podcast host)
I Wasn't able to bring that up
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
with Elton John in the moment and talk to him about it and get his perspective of what that would have been like. You know, it's fascinating perspective. So few people own and guide the success of professional sports teams, never mind while also being one of the biggest
Host (likely the main podcast host)
pop stars on the planet in the history of the world, actually. I would have loved that. I would have loved to have asked
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
him what that was like, and I didn't get the chance because of my own ignorance. And, yeah, bums me out a little bit.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
All right, anyways, there's a little rock and roll in soccer history for you
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
guys for World cup week here in honor, as I said, of the Hillsborough disaster episode in your feeds this week.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Speaking of disasters, we have our Marilyn Manson archive episode coming in the rewind slot this week. That's dropping right after this, so don't go anywhere. We still got a lot of after
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
parties, so don't go anywhere.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
But, you know, you know, the Manson story, people ask me all the time,
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
where do you get these crazy stories? How do you. How do you know what these rock stars are up to?
Host (likely the main podcast host)
And I often tell them about how well, you know, it's all out there.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Many of them even put this information out there themselves. This guy, this fucking guy, he wrote
Host (likely the main podcast host)
it all down in his book. Seriously. About how he was gonna commit murder, like, in detail. How he was gonna pull off the crime, you know, how he degraded women fans. The abuse, the nihilism, the inhumanity, it's all there in his book.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
All of it is in Marilyn Manson's autobiography.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
So when accusations flooded into the public about Manson's treatment of the women in his life a couple years ago, none
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
of it was surprising. Actually, that's not true. It was surprising. Confounding is a better word than surprising.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Anyhow, check out this episode if you have not already. And actually, even if you have checked
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
it out, even if you have listened, listen again, you'll learn more, you'll pick up more details, and this episode will not fail to shock you, even on second listen.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Okay, after Marilyn Manson next week, we got a new episode in the feed on George Jones, one of my favorite singers of all time.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Not just my favorite country singers, one of my favorite singers, period.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
I hear George's voice and I just
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
stop what I'm doing and I listen.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
George had one of the greatest voices ever. So when you're listening to this episode, be thinking about which singers do it
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
for you the most.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Who's got that voice that just stops
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
you in your tracks.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
That can bring you to tears, that can make you feel things that you don't normally. All right, that's going to be the question of the week. 617-906-6638. Give us a call, send us a text, let us know your answer. You might hear yourself on the after party now.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
I'm really excited about these next few episodes we got coming up at the beginning of the summer this year. The Sonic Youth episode we have coming is a banger to be all bangers. And it is super true crimey.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
It's not only about Thurston Moore and the badassness of Kim Gordon and the
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
awesomeness of Steve Shelley and Lee Aldo
Host (likely the main podcast host)
and Thurston and Kim's relationship. It's about the true crime story that inspired the COVID of Sonic Youth's goo. A story with two of the coolest rock and roll heroes that nobody knows
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
about at the center of it. A story about the shocking Moors Murders.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Now, on the subject of shock, we are soon bringing you our heavily requested
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
episode on Wendy O. Williams.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
You're like, oh, cool, maybe I'll check that out. Wendy O. Williams. She's the one with the duct tape nipples and the chainsaw who dated Lemmy from Motorhead. All that. Yes, it's about all of that. Of course, that's kind of the stuff
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
I knew about her before we got into this episode and putting it together for you guys.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
But I did not understand the emotion and creative heartbreak at the heart of
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Wendy O. Williams story. It is a heavy one.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
And it's as much about the cost
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
and the soul sucking sometimes. I should say the sometimes soul sucking nature of trying to make it in this world as a committed artist as
Host (likely the main podcast host)
it is about shock and the stuff
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
that you would think it would be about. When we're talking about Wendy O. Williams, it's also about New York in the 70s, so it's right up our alley. You're gonna dig it.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Okay, so little unexpected preview of episodes we got coming up here in Disgraceland this summer coming up right after this, your voicemails, text, DMs, emails and more.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
I'll be back in a flash.

On a recent episode, I sat down with Undisputed boxing champ Clarissa Shields and comedian Wanda Sykes to talk about Wanda's new movie, the Art of Trash Talk and what it really means to be ladylike. All right, guys, we are back.

617-906-6638. I'm in the phone booth.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
It's the one across the hall. I'm hanging on the telephone with you guys, taking your calls. I'm gonna kind of go all over the map today, try to get to
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
some folks who may have fell through the cracks with their voicemails in their
Host (likely the main podcast host)
texts and really kind of just no agenda. We can talk about anything that we've
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
been talking about over the last few weeks, last few months. Let's go to the 71 9. Where's that? Colorado. This is from Sally.
Listener Sally from Colorado
Hi, this is Sally from Colorado. I'm a little behind because I just became a paid member, so I'm just now listening to your after party about the list of the 30 most best writer songwriters that are still alive. And I just wanted to mention that I think there's two things that are important. One, I think who you think is missing has a lot to do with whether you're a guy or a girl. So that's number one. And number two, as much as you may not like Diane Warren, Diane Warren, I believe, holds the record for being nominated for the most Oscars and not winning one. Okay, so, you know, like 18 or 19 times. So there's a reason she's on the list. You may not like her, but there's a reason she's on the list. Your show is amazing. I can't even tell you how excited I am. I found it. Y' all have a great day. Bye.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Sally, thank you for your call.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
I was just having some fun with Diane Warren.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Not my cup of tea, you know, that big pop stuff. But I completely hear you.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
You said nominated for the most Oscars. I think you meant nominated for the most Grammys. Right? I think so. She's basically like the Suzanne Lucci. Was that that woman's name, the soap opera star who would get nominated every year and not win.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
And I think, yeah. Diane Warren being nominated that many times, having that kind of impact that she's
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
had despite my personal taste.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
You're absolutely right.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Deserves. Deserves a spot on the list.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
So I hear you, Sally, and thank you for the kind words about the show as well.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Appreciate you appreciate the new listeners, for sure. Appreciate the older listeners as well, who have been here since back in the day. Let's go to. Where are we going to go here? Let's go to the 385 and talk a little Foo Fighters.
Listener Jake
Hey, Jake. Big fan thing about Taylor Hawkins. I've been a big fan of Foo Fighters for a really long time. I, I've, I've loved their music videos. I've loved every album, Deep Cuts and all that, blah, blah and everything. And I watched the documentary on HBO and bought that album. And I did everything short of see them. I never got to see them. I never got to see Taylor. And as a big fan of the Foo Fighters, it's really disappointing. And I delve deeper into their stuff and I gotta tell you, the reason Taylor Hawkins died was pretty boring. His drugs. That's it. That's my guess. You know, just of all the things they did, I mean, they did all the drugs and they got OD'd and they sent to the hospital and then they made a documentary about themselves. All right, peace.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Three, eight, five. Appreciate the call. And I got a quibble a little bit. I just my, my thinking here on
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
the he died from drugs reasoning.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Why wouldn't they just say that?
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
And again, the reaction I think that you would give me if we were having a two way convo here in, in real life, you'd say, well, you know, they didn't want his kids to know his kid to know. They want his family to, you know, have to deal with whatever the ramifications are, public opinion, blah, blah, blah. But we live in a world where addiction is more understood than it ever has been before. It's certainly more socially acceptable as a disease and no longer seen as something that, you know, is a mark of somebody who's weak or a personality defect or anything like that.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
And it just makes me think that, you know, if it were a drug
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
overdose, even if it were accidental, you
Host (likely the main podcast host)
know, even if he was like smoking a joint and had like fentanyl on
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
it or something, if that were the case, they would say that, but they just have not. And in the absence of a reason, there has to be a different reason, I guess. I don't know. I don't know. 617-906-6638.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
You got any more theories on the Foo Fighters? Hit us up. You want to talk about anything at all, Hit us up. Voicemail and text. 970 writes in on a popular popular subject here. Cover songs on the disgrace and question of unlikely covers.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)

Host (likely the main podcast host)
North's cover of Mr. Brightside is amazing. Starts as a kind of coffee shop cover, but then turns into an amazing
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
string arrangement and some great, great harmonies. It's beautiful.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
I think there's a lot of covers
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
of killer songs because the melodies are epic in scope and they just, they lend themselves to great interpretations. Thank you for the recommendation here. 970-run-river north.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Never heard of him, but I will check it out. My son, my youngest, is obsessed with this song right now, so I'll look
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
it up and I'll play it for him.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
770 writes in hey Jake. It's Jake. The Sopranos is my favorite show of all time, and I had an an important note when Chrissy and Tony Chrissy are driving and listening to the Roger Waters live version of Comfortably Numb. They're listening to it off of the Departed soundtrack, which I've always found to be very interesting, especially considering the episode aired just a year after the movie was released. There's also overlap between the two, as Armin Garo plays Coco in Sopranos and plays one of the Providence gangsters who gets his ass kicked by Billy Costigan in the Departed. Love the show. Keep up the great work, Rocka Rolla.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
First of all, the guy who plays
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Coco is one of the most frightening
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
dudes to ever come on the screen in Sopranos and I do remember him from Departed as well. Yeah, there's some crazy crossover there. I just talked about this.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
I can't tell if your text is
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
if you're writing me in relation to what we were just talking about or if this is just coincidental.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
I did not mention that the actual
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
CD that Chris Moltisante is listening to in that scene in the Kennedy and Heidi episode. Not going to spoil it. I did not mention that it was the Departed soundtrack that he's listening to because I forgot and he reminded me. And I think he says something about it too, doesn't he? I think he says something about the soundtrack. I don't know, Jake. Let me know. 617-90-66638.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Manny Bravo from the 732 in the Rock and Roll. Asbury Park, New Jersey writes in. I'm so glad that you were talking about Widow's Bay on Apple tv. It's such a great show. I've been telling everyone about it. Each character has done so well with a little background on each stories of their own. Yeah, you're right. You're right, Manny. Was I talking about Widow's Bay or
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
was Szeth in the wrap party? I can't remember.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Back to the sopranos with the 5 6, 2.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
We might have some clarity on this on this Departed issue here. This one's from Celeste.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
She writes in.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Hey, Jake, I'm a Sopranos super fan
Host (likely the main podcast host)
and I had to drop a line.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Christopher was playing the soundtrack from the Departed for Tony. Christopher comments about how bad the sound system in his car and is fiddling with it. He takes his eyes off the road and the rest is history. Hmm. Hmm. P.S. thanks for the recommendation on DTF St. Louis. I only checked it out because you said it was good. Celeste. You. You're welcome there, Celeste. I wonder if we're getting other DTFs.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
The title makes me think we are.

Host (likely the main podcast host)
Maybe they're gonna do like a DTF Chicago.

DTF Boston. I'd be into that.

This one comes from the 503. Hello, new listener. Really love your podcast Disgraceland. Just got done listening to the Kanye episode about bipolar one disorder, and it really resonated with me because my mom and my brother both suffer from bipolar disorder. One suffers from bipolar two and the
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
other from bipolar one, just like Kanye.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
And I will say his depiction of a manic episode a thousand percent accurate.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
My brother will be okay one day and then the next he will think he is the next messiah and that he has to build the next kingdom of God. Sorry for the long text, but if Kanye really is telling the truth about having bipolar one disorder, I feel for him.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
The saddest part is they don't think
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
anything's wrong with them. And then they think that once they're on medication and everything's normal, they can just stop taking it and things will stay the same.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Appreciate the text. 503. I have experience with this in my
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
family as well with my grandmother and my sister and appreciate the text. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know about Kanye. It's a really hard thing to talk about. It's a really hard thing to think about. I hope somebody writes a great book one day.

All right, we are back to scrisampodmail.com I gotta clean something up here. I made a little mistake in that John Len episode which has been live

This email comes from Leslie Fortin who points out that hey, the Freedom Rally concert for John Sinclair in your John Lennon episode was not at Pontiac Stadium. I lived in Pontiac at the time and never heard of such a place.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
It was at Chrysler arena in Ann
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Arbor at the University of Michigan. Now Leslie, thank you for this. I messed up. I'm not trying to cast blame elsewhere, but I wonder if I read a mistaken depiction of this venue in my research or if my brain just read Pontiac. Excuse me, red Chrysler and and then I voiced Pontiac. Either are possible.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
I'm guessing it's the latter. I'm guessing I that's what happened. My brain just fritz there. I apologize and I appreciate you pointing this out. We get to clean that up and that is something that we will do shortly.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Disgraceandpodmail.com I want to thank Artis Faulkner.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Listener from doesn't say here, but he sends along a video with Henry Rollins talking about the new release from the Cramps. There's a new Cramps release and I

don't know what the hell that is,
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
but we got to figure it out. I'm going to dig into this Rollin Video.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Thank you artists. Appreciate you. Emily L writes in hey, you asked if there is something in music history, when we hear about it, it just makes us angry. Well, I'm gonna have to go with Live Nation and Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster has been known to cheat, lie, steal and rip us off for years and get away with it. Live Nation has lied their way out
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
of so many lawsuits and gets away with murder.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
These are two of the most evil corporations right now in the music industry. You're absolutely right, Emily. I do not disagree.
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
It's maddening.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
I love how Jack Antonoff is at

the front of this conversation. I don't understand. This is just insane.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
I don't even like getting into it because it's one of those things I
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
try really hard as I'm getting older to not focus on things that are making me angry. This is one of a man right up there.
Host (likely the main podcast host)

Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
St. Louis as another somebody else mentioned another recommendation. I can't remember what it was. If you want recommendations for me on the regular they're happening in the Hollywoodland feed in the wrap party episode where myself and Zeth Lundy each week give you recommendations. I give you music recommendations. Zeth gives you film recommendations. Usually they're centered around some sort of crime.

Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
Don't have an episode on Iron Maiden. I'd love to. I'd love to research one, though. They're a band that I I.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
There's parts of their catalog that I really love and parts I'm not interested
Co-host or secondary host (likely the afterparty co-host)
in, but I am interested in the band and their history. We talked about Rod Stewart and remarkably, we don't have a Rod Stewart episode either.
Host (likely the main podcast host)
Of course we mentioned Oasis.
