Peter Rosenberg
I didn't listen to anything you just said.
Don Hahn
This isn't North Dakota. This is New York. This is Don Hahn and Rosenberg on 800 ESPN and the ESPN New York.
Peter Rosenberg
App.
Don Hahn
301 in the big city. Don and Peter hanging out with you on Don, Han and Rosenberg. Allen's on assignment, literally flying to Detroit as we speak.
Peter Rosenberg
And listen, we talked it through. We talked it through. We thought this was the right thing. He has an opportunity to do something special this week and he's gonna go to Detroit and do it. Yeah, we need him to get there and do all the requisite work.
Don Hahn
No, if you're gonna spend that time in Detroit, you should fly their charter.
Peter Rosenberg
That's damn right. She said so.
Don Hahn
I apologize for the voice. It's. Allergies are just killing me.
Peter Rosenberg
You know what? I'm sickened by it. I have no tolerance for this.
Don Hahn
The one. Yeah, because after you went through it, you're like, that's it. I'm not gonna have to deal with anybody else having to do this. Just driving home last night, I was feeling it during the show. Like, allergies are banging me up. And I just got one of those sinus headaches. Everything was just so hard to do. Had tons of stuff to do, too. Laundry, watch the kids. It's picture day today.
Peter Rosenberg
I want to warn you, though, about something.
Don Hahn
What's that?
Peter Rosenberg
So Cass1 in the morning, he lost his voice. In the last couple days, I had a little. When my thing happened, it started as a little sickness, and then it was a few days in that the voice thing hit.
Don Hahn
So just be careful here. No, I'm going to be careful. I'm going to try to keep it to a dull roar. How about that?
Peter Rosenberg
And also, I would say during the breaks, we have that coffee machine which will spit out just hot water. Yeah, just stay on that hot water today. You know what I got you bring some honey. Manuka, you bring the nuka.
Don Hahn
I got the nuka, honey. You know what?
Peter Rosenberg
That's $37 a bottle.
Don Hahn
It's funny. I was texting with Max April today. You and me, Dr. April and had nothing to do with my voice because I've worked with him enough to know all the things that I have to do when I lose my voice. It was just about all the islander news that we'll get to Lou out of a job we talked about. But their radio team, we're going to get to that in a little bit. But you know we got Mets and Yankees going on right now.
Peter Rosenberg
Sure.
Don Hahn
Yankees are up 4 to 1 against Cleveland. Top of the seventh inning trying to avoid getting swept. Mets trying to bring out the brooms against Philly. They had a two nothing lead. Brett Beatty with a two run home run. But Phillies come back to tie that at two in the top of the seventh inning. And that game's on 880. As soon as that game is over we'll be on 880. But right now we're on 1050 and of course VSPN New York.
Peter Rosenberg
I gotta, I gotta but tell the people on social media about that, don't I?
Don Hahn
Yeah, just let everybody know. I think it's really important. But we're getting close to the draft. The countdown is on. I'm looking over at ESPN. We are under 30 hours away from the first pick of the draft and it's going to certainly dominate the conversation on Thursday and Friday here. But considering that we got the baseball teams playing, we've kind of rung out the Knicks getting ready for their game and we'll do a lot of Knicks tomorrow leading into game three of that series, even to the game of peace. I'm really shocked that ESPN bet yesterday had the over under on where Shador Sanders was going to get. Noon. I'm sorry, well, was yesterday. But even as of noon three hours ago that Shadore Sanders was eight and a half as far as the pick, he would be over, under, over, under. Yeah, it's now 21 and a half.
Peter Rosenberg
It happened in a moment. In a frigging moment.
Don Hahn
Now 21's Pittsburgh. You would think that if they pass on him, this guy's going to drop like a stone. 21's dropping like a stone.
Peter Rosenberg
I was gonna say there was a.
Don Hahn
Conversation that this guy was gonna be the first pick in the draft, definitely taking the top three. And now you wonder when you see something like that. Peter though, when the Giants were working him out, were they working him out thinking that he might be there when they're picking in the second round. Because think of the teams that would need quarterbacks that would pass on Sanders, the quarterbacks that might be taken before him. Pretty interesting stuff. Now, why today? I mean, maybe some inside information slipped out.
Peter Rosenberg
That means there was a conversation and something got out. Now the question is, don, who's at 8 and 9?
Don Hahn
Was it a jets or 7?
Peter Rosenberg
Jets or 7 like you dream about.
Don Hahn
Saints or 6? I really didn't. Let me just punch it up here.
Peter Rosenberg
Punch that up.
Don Hahn
Unless Anthony knows off the top of his head, he's not Mel Kuyper.
Peter Rosenberg
Because there has to be a conversation was had and some bit of inside information made it out and now we know that it's just something was given. So eight is the Panthers and nine is the Saints. Don't.
Don Hahn
And they must have a feeling that the Saints aren't going to take them. Vegas, right. Vegas was 6 because they needed a quarterback until they were able to lock up their quarterback situation a couple of weeks ago.
Peter Rosenberg
So it was hovering then, right. Before the Saints. That means now. That means now the Saints are out. Some bit of information was given that was rock solid. The Saints are out. And then after the Saints, Don. Bears aren't doing it.
Don Hahn
Nope.
Peter Rosenberg
Niners? No. Cowboys? No. Dolphins feel good, I guess. What did Indy do again? Who did Indy go out and get?
Don Hahn
Oh, you know, you know, the savior. DJ Danny Dimes.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, yeah. So they got Richardson and Danny Dimes over there, right? That's right. I forgot about that.
Don Hahn
So they're good Niners, good Cowboys. That's interesting, right? The Cowboys at 12 just in case.
Peter Rosenberg
Because you never know of it all.
Don Hahn
Well, just, you know, the whole Dion of it all.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. I mean, apparently Jerry Jones has thought.
Don Hahn
About it, but I just think that when you're talking about a quarterback that's going to drop like that, that I don't know if anybody really is in love with him.
Peter Rosenberg
It's. It's feeling. It's feeling that way.
Don Hahn
But I wanted to. To bring this up and we'll take Your calls at 1-800-919-3776. Jake Aspen did a great job filling in for K today because K is doing the Yankees. And I don't think he meant anything by it when he said it, but he was just stating facts that if the Giants hadn't won that meaningless game against Indianapolis, they'd be picking one and they would be taking Cam Ward. And they're good. They got their quarterback. As this whole time has dragged along analyzing the draft, it feels like to me Ward's the guy because he's the best quarterback.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
And Tennessee needs a quarterback and he.
Peter Rosenberg
Seems to be definitively good. Everyone seems to believe I wouldn't say.
Don Hahn
I wouldn't say definitively the best of the crop.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, let's say this. No one seems to see him as Caleb or. Or Jaden, but somewhere below, they think he's the real deal.
Don Hahn
You hear people say that if J.J. mcCarthy was in this draft, he'd be going one, right? And J.J. mcCarthy dropped past the Giants because they weren't interested in him. So as a Giant fan, instead of. And you know, I feel about tanking, but leave that aside. Instead of complaining that the Giants won that meaningless game against the Colts, maybe we should be celebrating it. Because if they had the first overall pick, they'd have to take Ward. They need a quarterback. It'd be a PR disaster if they didn't take Ward. And God forbid, if they didn't take Ward and Ward became great, now they don't have to worry about that. Sanders, Nobody's going to beat him up for not taking Sanders. And it looks like Abdul Carter is going to be there at three. Why do I get the feeling that no one's going to regret that pick?
Peter Rosenberg
It's an interesting take, and they would have been forced to take Ward, who could very well end up a dud. And instead they're getting someone who. In theory, people. People seem to feel much more strongly about Abdul Carter's potential being more of a lock than they do Cam or. But then again, don't people always feel more like the D lineman is always more of a lock than a quarterback?
Don Hahn
Well, because it's less of a flop, right?
Peter Rosenberg
It's less of a flop. And it feels like the game doesn't change so much if you were able to dominate on the defensive line in college, people tend to, especially at a big school, people tend to think you can do that in pros.
Don Hahn
But if you whiff on him, it's not as crippling as whiffing on a quarterback.
Peter Rosenberg
No, whiffing on a quarterback is because.
Don Hahn
You went through it with Chase Young.
Peter Rosenberg
I did. And we got up from it very quickly.
Don Hahn
It's a regrettable pick, but. All right. Didn't work out, you know. But if that's a quarterback that you whiffed on, it could cripple your franchise debt. So Abdul Carter spoke and he was asked, which team do you. Which team do you have the best feeling about heading to the draft? They're definitely in New York right now.
C
But we'll see what happens tomorrow.
Don Hahn
How did your meetings go with the Giants? I think it went well. Definitely got a good feeling with them. And we'll See what happens tomorrow. He's not overly chatty.
Peter Rosenberg
No. But I will say one thing. He just seems to be honest, though, now. Just seems to be saying what is going on.
Don Hahn
This is unfortunate, but it always comes up.
Peter Rosenberg
What?
Don Hahn
Abdul Carter on Lawrence Taylor. That's the greatest football player of all time.
C
Somebody I look up to, somebody who inspired me. So just me following in his footsteps.
Peter Rosenberg
Listen, he said football player. Was anything he said a lie?
Don Hahn
Oh, no. I just hate the fact that now we're just going to be throwing that name at Carter. Yeah, good luck living up to that.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, he just said he wants to.
Don Hahn
Be like, off the field's a layup, just walk straight, not hit anybody. He'll be all right.
Peter Rosenberg
You'll be better.
Don Hahn
But as a football player, that's a lot to live up to. Yeah, I mean, different positions, but Lawrence did everything. I heard him talking about it today. Bart Scott said it so. Well, you can line up Taylor on the end linebacker, middle linebacker, drop into coverage. That's what made him like a freak, that he was technically a linebacker, but he played everywhere. Abdul Carter's not going to do that. But we're thinking about just the impact he might have. He's from Philly, by the way, so he was asked on possibly being a Giant. Being from Philly, I'd be dope. But obviously, you know, once I go to New York, I'm all in New York. I'm have to leave Philly behind. So we'll see. God, he's talking like a guy that just knows he's getting drafted.
Peter Rosenberg
And by the way, and I will say, I think if you're a Giant fan, you don't love everything this kid's saying. Those are all good. Like, I want to play like Lawrence Taylor. Oh, yeah, I'm from Philly, but they're dead if I go to the Giant. I mean, this kids doing everything I liked, everything you just played me. Give me Abdul Carter. I'm in.
Don Hahn
Yeah, so I was thinking about it today. I just like, you know what, you want to tank. You want to go out there and get the quarterback. But I just have this feeling, the way everybody's just talked about all of these quarterbacks, that Ward's the best. Tennessee needs a quarterback, but Hunter looks like he's going to Cleveland. If not, I still think I probably take Carter because of the impact he's going to have. If you're not going to play well at quarterback, make sure the other team you play doesn't play well at quarterback. And nobody disrupts that more. Than an edge pass rusher, have him working the same line with Dexter Lawrence. I'm getting a sense that this is the guy that I'm going to want. And I'm happy they're picking three because if they were picking one, they'd be taking Ward. And I don't know if I'd be happy. I'd be happy that they were getting a quarterback. But why do I feel like. I get it. You're taking a quarterback out of obligation, and we'd be like.
Peter Rosenberg
I get it. Everything you're saying makes sense. So yesterday we did a lot on the show with me saying, you know how much I despise the NFL draft. I desperately want to hear I despise golf from Don. Anytime I say the word despise right.
Don Hahn
You think of that.
Peter Rosenberg
I think of you screaming.
Don Hahn
I appreciate that.
Peter Rosenberg
It was the emphasis you put on the spies of the word that just made it special.
Don Hahn
And that's sweet. I will watch spies golf. Thank you for the drop because I don't think I had it in me to duplicate that.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, don't. I'm worried. I'm actually. We're going to see where this thing goes. I hope that you stay on the rails today. I mean, I'm getting. You're getting. Should you not even be in that seat? That's where I was when it all came unglued. You want to move. You want to move somewhere?
Don Hahn
Why didn't you say something before I sat down?
Peter Rosenberg
I didn't know you heard.
Don Hahn
We. In our meeting.
Peter Rosenberg
In the meeting. I didn't realize it was. It was this bad until I got on the air. I mean, you're much better than I.
Don Hahn
Was, but don't ask. Don't ask our program director because he thought you were fine. Yeah, he was like, no, he's good. I don't even think 40 minute game misconduct may have had something to do with it, but that was probably.
Peter Rosenberg
Come on, what are you doing? You had to react to it Wednesday, and it was Islander stuff. There's a lot.
Don Hahn
To get. To be fair, I asked. I didn't know. And then he said, by the way, I'm sick. And then I felt bad. I got a lot of people that wanted me to talk about the Islanders broadcast situation. I'm definitely going to get to that. So, Dave, Felicia, we're going to get to it. I just didn't think it was a proper open.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no.
Don Hahn
But I'm going to get to it.
Peter Rosenberg
Let's do it shortly because we'll get to some Basic call after. But real quick. Yesterday I was talking about my hatred.
Don Hahn
Of the draft, right?
Peter Rosenberg
And God, you know, I looked up the commanders draft picks by year over, like the lot. It reminds me of how right I am. Now, granted, up until last year we had a bad organization, so a lot of the choices weren't good. But Don, I'm curious if you pull up the Giant. You're a Giants fan.
Don Hahn
That's right, pull up the Giant.
Peter Rosenberg
Just Google Giants draft pick by year. And you should get this. You should get a team history. The NFL has a team history that'll pop up. Now, don't ask me why. When you open a browser in this radio station, the homepage is msn.com. what sort of freak show are we operating in? Msn.com is the homepage. John, to me, I didn't even think about that one. Google and ESPN are the two acceptable answers as your homepage here at espn. But anyways, so I pull up our draft picks by year and I mean, okay, last year, obviously they had J.
Don Hahn
This first round we're talking.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, I'm looking overall just to see. Because the argument with people like Ballard is, oh, my God, it's Christmas morning. There's so much great stuff, guys. There's so much coal every year. Don, there's so much coal. How many from last year are you still interested in in the Giants group?
Don Hahn
Well, I like Malik Neighbors.
Peter Rosenberg
I think that's a good choice.
Don Hahn
Yeah, no, the two secondary guys are good.
Peter Rosenberg
Are they? So the secondary guys are.
Don Hahn
They're going to be starters this year. But again, you know, Andrew Phillips. Fine. Yeah. Listen, Tracy. Great.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, what round was Tracy in?
Don Hahn
The fifth.
Peter Rosenberg
That was a good pick.
Don Hahn
That was a good pick.
Peter Rosenberg
That was a very good pick. No question.
Don Hahn
But at the time you were asleep.
Peter Rosenberg
Exactly.
Don Hahn
All right, Exactly.
Peter Rosenberg
You didn't celebrate that. Who was celebrating?
Don Hahn
Because your fifth round pick, now you're like in the weekend. Granted, ABC still on it. But I get your point. You know, you go like, you know Thibodeau and Neil Robertson.
Peter Rosenberg
Listen, listen to this. Let me. Hey, you're a big. You're a big foosball guy. Pusick will remember every name here. Listen to the Commanders 2023 draft. First round, they went with Emmanuel Forbes, the corner.
Don Hahn
Sure.
Peter Rosenberg
Who's been. He plays. He doesn't play. Not so sure.
Don Hahn
That's not what you want out of your number one, though.
Peter Rosenberg
Then it's Quan Martin.
Don Hahn
Ah, Quan.
Peter Rosenberg
Who plays a little D back for us, but not much. Ricky Stromberg, Braden Daniels, KJ Henry, our third running back who still plays Chris Rodriguez and Andre Jones. That's an entire year of draft picks. That's basically a nothing burger.
Don Hahn
It's not great.
Peter Rosenberg
And now granted, they weren't a great team the year before that. Our first pick was Johan Dotson. He's an Eagle.
Don Hahn
He is an Eagle.
Peter Rosenberg
Now, the only person from that draft. That's exciting. Are you familiar with the work of Sam Howell?
Don Hahn
Oh, Slinging Sammy Howell now, now somebody on this show called him Slinging Sammy.
Peter Rosenberg
I remember that now in the third round in 2022, we got B. Rob, who is our running back now. So that every year you pull something that. You see what I'm saying, Dom? But it's hard to get full on football horny the way these people do.
Don Hahn
Well, I'm going to tell you what you're missing out here. It is. Here's why I understand that you would have. It's Christmas Day. Is Ballard a big college football guy?
Peter Rosenberg
Much more so than I am. He enjoys it.
Don Hahn
Sure. I think that if you are somebody that consumes college football, you know all these players, so you're kind of invested in where they go because you watch their careers. You hate college football.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, I don't. I don't hate. I just don't.
Don Hahn
You're not a fan.
Peter Rosenberg
Not a fan.
Don Hahn
So you don't know these players, they're just commodities to you that you don't know.
Peter Rosenberg
I'll love them. If they are good on my team, then I'll love them. They're like, otherwise they're nothing.
Don Hahn
You know, it's like appreciating a steak before it's cooked. It's hanging there, but until you get the serve it up and eat it, you don't know what you're getting.
Peter Rosenberg
Right.
Don Hahn
But to a connoisseur of college football, these are people that you've watched, you're kind of interested, invested in where they may go. But that's the only way I can you understanding being all in because it's such a crapshoot.
Peter Rosenberg
But God, that's.
Don Hahn
You don't know a lot of these players. All of a sudden you went from not knowing the player to I absolutely have to have them or my general manager should be fired. And then five minutes after the draft is over, you forget until opening day where everybody is. But if you are a college football guy, it's different.
Peter Rosenberg
But even with it being a college football guy, college football, it requires watching so much. Like I get it, you know, the big players on the biggest teams, right. Your Michigan's, your Ohio State's, you know, previously your Alabama's, Georgia, stuff like that. But like the kind of fan you have to be to know defensive players on random from, you know, from Mississippi State and Stanford.
Don Hahn
And if you're a Penn State fan, right, and you're a fan of whoever the packers. But you love Penn State. Well, not only you invested on what.
Peter Rosenberg
The packers are, you have the whole Big Ten.
Don Hahn
You're invested to see where Abdul Carter goes.
Peter Rosenberg
Right. But also, and also, you know, the teams that Penn State's playing.
Don Hahn
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
So that helps.
Don Hahn
So that.
Peter Rosenberg
That I think that does a lot.
Don Hahn
But it is a big deal because this will outrate everything. And I'm really excited. The biggest deal, just because of the fact that the jets and Giants are taking three and seven and there's intrigue. There's no guarantee who's going to be there at three. There's certainly no guarantee who's going to be there at 7. Now, 3 is a lot more sexy than 7. The Giants are going to take a generational corner slash wide receiver, a generational defensive end that should be there. Barring Tennessee going off the rails, two generational talents are going to be available to the Giants by the time we get to seven. We have no idea what the jets are going to do. Still, that. That makes it fun.
Peter Rosenberg
You want to chat with a few people, please? Let's get started. 1-800-919-3776 phone lines are open. Let's get Mel in New Jersey to get us going here on 1050 and ESPN New York. What's up, Mel?
D
Oh, my God, so much is up, Peter. Hi, Peter. Hi.
Peter Rosenberg
Hey, Mel.
Don Hahn
Hello.
D
Listen to y'all for years. Before I get to my point, because I can't talk to you every day, I just want to say these two things. First, Peter, msn.com that is the default for every computer. So it's like they just bought the computer.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, so that means they never changed it. Oh, so that means because this is a PC, no one adjusted it, is what you're saying.
Don Hahn
And they're brand new. We got new stuff here.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm fixing it now.
D
Then you got it. You got to give somebody that job, you know, do anything you want to pay somebody. I take the job. I do everything.
Peter Rosenberg
I respect you, bro.
D
Second. Second, man, like I said, I've been listening to y'all for years, and I'm really hurt because, number one, first thing, Mike is not on the show anymore. But y'all do a great job of keeping that Connection there. You know, I'm saying it'd be so many times where you be like, well, you used to say this all the time, Peter. You used to say, you guys don't understand the show. You know, I mean, it'd be so many times people call up and get all this stuff. They feel emotional and I just laugh it off. So I say not to say this, right. There's a drop in drop madness that I would love to be there if Mike not there anymore. You know, it's like he's not gonna be there, but yesterday. And another thing I used to always bring up is that people would hear a story, read a story, and just take out a certain clip of it and not go with whatever was in the story. So yesterday, Mike is talking about a story that he seen in the back page about Anthony Edwards saying something in the game. Right.
Peter Rosenberg
The inappropriate thing that Anthony Edwards said to a fan.
D
Yeah. You know what I'm saying? And I just find out like, yo, that is just funny. As funny that, you know, Mike said it. And I. I feel like, yo, I need it.
Peter Rosenberg
You know what? You know what? I have to say this, Mal. I don't hate the idea. I don't hate the idea of someone. One of our listeners. Maybe it's you, Mel, if you're a hardcore case show listener. I don't hate the idea of someone pulling, like, from the podcast moments and sending stuff to us that they believe we should hear as a potential drop. Because Michael, now that he's on his own, Don, it's gonna. They're all gonna slip away.
Don Hahn
Oh, yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Like, if Michael says something that has, like, horrifying innuendo by accident, there's a chance it just dies on the vine. Whereas our people should send it to us for us to make fun of him.
Don Hahn
Yeah. Michael's not gonna be in the talkback saying, get that.
Peter Rosenberg
Exactly. So, like, there may be. If Michael in any way attempted to describe what Anthony Edwards said to the fan.
Don Hahn
I want to hear him do that. And, yeah, and he's probably telling them, if anything, don't repurpose that. But I will not make sure other shows don't see that.
Peter Rosenberg
So feel free, everyone, if you're hearing Michael say things like that to tell us about it.
Don Hahn
I just feel like having the third pick and Abdul Carter being there makes me feel a lot more comfortable than if the Giants had the first pick. Wondering if Cam Ward is going to be special. We're going to talk to Jordan Ronan, get his thoughts on this. Covers the Giants. He'll be all over the draft. We'll talk to him. Coming up 430 we've got a list that's right and we're taking right up.
Peter Rosenberg
To seven like you dream about. Plus we are going to get into all the Islander stuff. Any updates and news from the Knicks? Tom Thibodeau spoke so a lot more to do. But Don first talk to me about about cars.

Don Hahn
I'm struggling with my allergies, but I still drove with the window down.
Peter Rosenberg
Like you should. Man, the allergies are hitting the allergy people hard today, huh?
Don Hahn
Yeah, I'm not an allergy person, but the last few years, as I've gotten older, it's affected me.
Peter Rosenberg
That's unfortunate. I did my podcast, Juan Epp today with Cypher Sounds and man, he gets to this time of year. It's like talking to a corpse. And I always say to him, does it make you feel bad that the creator wants to kill you? I mean, think about it. Why does if there is a God, don't. I don't want to get too deep on this show, but if there is a God, why would he or she intentionally lay all of these things? Allergic to grass, allergic to air, allergic to dirt, allergic to water.
Don Hahn
Just keep you on your toes.
Peter Rosenberg
Take the hand.
Don Hahn
So what you're saying this is a really even more boring version of the movie. The happening where the. The earth is killing people. Getting back. The. The plants are getting back at people for how they've done with the environment. Except it's a slow kill.
Peter Rosenberg
It's a very, very slow kill.
Don Hahn
And boring. Even more boring than the movie.
Peter Rosenberg
A man who's never been boring, but did look like he was up for a slow kill the other day with that. With the black on black. But it wasn't. But it wasn't just a black on black.
Don Hahn
It wasn't even a gray jacket. Silver jacket. Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Let's. Let's bring in gorgeous. Let's bring in Giants Insider, our man from espn, Jordan. Ron. Jordan. Jordan. What was the full.
C
It was gray. It was a gray jacket. Come on.
Don Hahn
It was the gray.
Peter Rosenberg
That was the thing.
Don Hahn
Shiny. You looked fantastic.
Peter Rosenberg
But we thought you were going to stop by Satin Dolls and get somebody whacked. You know what I mean?
C
Well, so here it is. I heard that Peter did not like my outfit. He wasn't a fan. That's not the first time I've ever tried a black shirt. So I'm just wearing the. No, I like the pants with the black shirt. And then answer me the tv. So what I had A gray jacket in the car. So I threw the. That's all I had through the gray jacket on. It was so windy.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, that day was wild.
C
Crazy. I kind of catch the tripod while I was basically going on air. My head was completely off centered, and my head was basically.
Don Hahn
When you do.
Peter Rosenberg
When you do days, like, when you do days like that, like you or a. So, pal, whatever, you're at camp or the facility, are you setting up your.
C
Own tripod on that day, I was my. There was no producer or camera, so, yes, I was doing it myself.
Don Hahn
I would have walked old school look.
C
It was so windy, though. I literally. The tripod was falling over. I caught it with my left hand. My left hand put it back up real quick. And you tried to just make it work. What it was. My collar was popped up too, at that point, by the way.
Peter Rosenberg
And just to be clear, I wore black on black this weekend to WrestleMania. I love black on black. The thing that made it look kind of like a gangster movie. Yeah. Was the gray jacket on top of the black.
Don Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
And I like it.
Don Hahn
I liked it.
C
No, I didn't disagree. You know what? I think it's like, basically the gray in my hair and the highlights do make it look like. I went and looked at it and I was like, you know what? He's probably right.
Don Hahn
It was ironic, too, because for those who don't know, you were literally a stone's throw away from the scene where it was leave the gun, take the cannolis. It was right there. It was all shot there before Giant Stadium.
C
So actually, so when I first started covering the Giants, I was like, oh, the bada Bing really is around here. Satin Dog, let me go check it out. I did, because I knew this was like, what, 2013. I heard this is. This is the place. Let me go. Let me go see what it's all about and how you, like, resemble it. How was looked the same as it did in the.
Don Hahn
Yeah, there's no difference.
Peter Rosenberg
It's really. They literally. They shot it all inside it, actually.
Don Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, that's awesome. All right, Jordan, let's get to it. You know, I've been saying over the last couple of weeks that we are in the midst of lying season where, like, I don't really believe anything. I hear a lot of. You know, everybody has to fill time. Everybody has to get to Thursday now. We're actually getting close. We see earlier today, Shador Sanders over under on his draft position all of a sudden, after noon, goes from 8 and a half to 21. And a half. So conversations are obviously happening as of this moment. What are the Giants doing on Thursday?
C
I think it's all right. Let's take the best available player at three. There's two players. When you talk to people around the league, you talk to league sources who, you know, have their own boards. I'm talking from other teams. Like it's a pretty clear cut. These guys are 1 and 2 on the board and are head and shoulders above everyone else. I'm talking about Travis Hunter and a dual card. Right. Like that seems to be. And you know, Astro genties in that mix too, for a lot of teams as well. But we know the Giants aren't going to take a running back at three. We, we've been there before.
Don Hahn
No, no, no, no, no.
C
Okay. Yeah. So I think, and Joe Shane even said this when if there's a blue chipper, generational type player there, you don't pass on that type of player to me. That was him specifically speaking about the possibility of Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter being there at number three. It's. There's a disconnect publicly. There was, at least for a while, in my opinion, about the perception of the quarterback class internally with teams and externally between, you know, media and fans. And it was way higher publicly. And now you're kind of, it's kind of catching up and you're kind of hearing that and that's why you have. Okay, the Giants are going to look likely to pass on Shador Sanders. The Saints look likely to pass on Shador Sanders. Heck, the Pittsburgh Steelers might pass on a quarterback and Shador Sanders. And now we're sitting there at the bottom of the first round and hey, there might be only one quarterback gone by like the mid-20s.
Don Hahn
Oh, there's no question. You probably saw ESPN BET at noon, had the over under on where Shador Sanders was going to be picked at eight and a half. It's dropped down to 21 and a half.
C
I'll tell you this, so, so I'll tell you this so I know somebody who's very well in tune with the, with the quarterback market. And when we were at the NFL combine and that was when back in I guess the end of February, the first week of March, he was telling me, he's like, I made a friendly bet with somebody in the league that Shador Sanders won't, by the time this is done, won't be a first round pick and he's got a chance. Right. I mean, it's not out of the question now.
Don Hahn
Yeah. I mean it's, it's becoming more and more of a reality to where maybe the Giants were kicking the tires on him because he might be there with their second pick in the second round, right? Like so. If he drops to the, to the, to the mid-30s, he might be there for them. I made this statement on the Open the show, Jordan, and I wonder if you agree with this. As a Giant fan, it's easy to say they should have never won that game against the Colts. They'd have the first overall pick. They'd have Ward. All right, that checks the box for the quarterback. But as far as being a fan, I'd be way more nervous about that pick than I would be. Carter at 3. Even though they need a quarterback, there's just so much that tells me he may not work out. He's the best quarterback in a draft that's not that strong at quarterback. People are saying J.J. mcCarthy would go one if he were in this draft and the Giants passed on him last year. So am I wrong to think. I like that they're at three. I like that they're in line to take Carter. I think they're better off, as far as the future's concerned, than if they had the number one pick and would have to take Cam Ward. Am I crazy to think that?
C
I don't think so. There's definitely a lot of risk that comes with taking Cam Ward. Like, not everyone in the league thinks this is like a slam dunk. This is like an easy number one overall, even when there is an easy number one overall pick. Did you guys watch last year and think Caleb Williams is going to be an automatic superstar? Like, there's questions. Right?
Peter Rosenberg
Right.
C
And he's not. He's not even at that level. Like, I spoke to a general manager with another team this morning, right. An assistant general manager, and he didn't even think that. He couldn't believe that Cam Ward was going to be a number one pick in the draft. He has major questions about him. So it absolutely is a way riskier pick than Abdul Carter, who. Look, there might be some concerns about his attitude or some of the other stuff that that comes with it, but not as him as a player. Like, you look at him as a player and he's like, you look at that talent, you're like, this guy's gonna. This guy's gonna be a high level player. In the NFL comparison, I've heard from a couple people, a couple sources, actually, was Von Miller and Von Miller's. I think I looked it up a seven time all probably first ballot, hall of Fame.
Peter Rosenberg
Sure.
C
Yeah. When you're, when you're eliciting comparisons to Von Miller, I mean, that's pretty damn good.
Peter Rosenberg
So where do you think the Giants stand on the idea of a quarterback period? Like they have now filled this room with quarterbacks, right? We went from no quarterbacks to just that. You can't even get a chair in the quarterback room. But I think it makes it sort of confusing about what they want to do with that position this year. Do you think when we get to Monday, we're talking about there is someone on this roster who could legit, at some point become a starter on this team?
C
Yeah, I do. I do think there's a strong possibility at the back end of the first round. Like Even if you're 34, it probably makes sense to move up a couple spots, right, to get that 50 year option. It's very valuable, especially when you're talking about long term with the quarterback. But it doesn't sound to me like the Giants want to give up a lot to get a quarterback right now. You know, this is not a great quarterback draft like these. Nobody's a slam dunk that they have. They have holes on their roster. But it does seem to me that at some point, whether it be the end of the first round, late in the first round, early second round, somewhere on day two, the Giants do come away with a quarterback that they could say, you know what, maybe this is the guy. Like, we took it, we would take it. We'll take a shot on a guy. Like at some point got to start taking a shot on quarterbacks. The good teams, even when they have a quarterback like the, the, you look at the way the packers and the Eagles operate, like they're always drafting quarterbacks. The Giants, meanwhile, don't have a future quarterback. And they're not, they haven't. They didn't take a shot last year and everyone considered a great quarterback class. So at some point I think they have to take a shot if there's somebody that they like. And you do hear a lot of, you know, the chatter the last couple of days. I think I heard it last week. Was that Brian Dable, you know, his preference on quarterbacks is probably Jackson Dart. And so that's a name I definitely would keep an eye on. Jalen Milro is like a long term option here as someone, hey, you know what? There's enough to bet on long term with those traits that, you know, maybe, maybe there's something there and we can.
Peter Rosenberg
And Milro would be the kind of guy you move up to the back of the first round to get.
C
Maybe, maybe he's available somewhere in the second round, you know, maybe he's, he, I don't, I'm, the more I'm sitting here, the more I'm like, not sure. And you're hearing what like, you know, other teams are doing, like there might be guys available later than, than we originally thought in the quarterback position. So it might pay to be patient to some degree. I, I, though, I, I don't, I feel like if you like a quarterback, just go ahead and take them. Don't, don't worry about what the price is. If he's good, it's worth it, no matter what, right?
Don Hahn
The other name that I hear, it's not even in this draft. This next draft is Arch Manning. Everybody has an opinion on him. The Giants want him. The Giants should tank next year to get him. I understand the symmetry of him being a Manning, but in that room, and you're tapped in, how interested, how much on the radar is Arch for this franchise right now?
C
I mean, Joe, Shane and Brian Dabble can't afford another bad season. Do I really think, like, do we really think that? Think about this logically. Joe Shane and Brian Dabel are sitting there saying, you know what? Maybe we can get Arch next year. Well, guess what, guys? You sit there and you could sit there and plan for Arch. You might not even have a job next year.
Peter Rosenberg
If you don't get someone else, you.
C
Don'T win some games. Right? And do we know that Arch is going to be available next year? Do we know that he's coming out? Do we even know that he's that good? Right. He hasn't even played that much, so there's a lot of questions. I think it would be completely foolish. I think it's looking way too far ahead to say, to say they're planning or they're even contemplating that at this point. Now maybe they're saying, next year's quarterback class, it looks like it's going to be a better quarterback year. Sure, I think that's a possibility. But to sit here and say, oh, they should just worry, you know, try to get arson. First of all, they have to lose a lot of games. Haven't been able to lose enough to get the top pick the last two years and, and think about how bad they were last year. They're still not drafting number one. So if they're in that, if they're even in that conversation, Joe, Shane and Brian, they will probably aren't part of it.
Peter Rosenberg
Anything else wacky that you think could happen this weekend that would shock the world at the NFL draft?
C
Very minimally. But how about the Giants at some point draft a kicker? I think that's a possibility, by the way, that I've heard in the last couple of days, which I found pretty interesting. But that's not shock the world for sure.
Don Hahn
No, but that's a three. Yeah, no, I know.
C
Here's the one scenario. Here's the one scenario at three. I was trying to filibuster here to think of something. So here's the one scenario that I've been contemplating. Like, let's say they do like Jackson dart. Let's just say, because remember, this is kind of like 2019. We heard Daniel Jones, they like him. It's gonna be Daniel Jones or Drew Locke, you know, but they'll probably take him with the second pick. What if they just decide, heck, we like Jackson dart, let's just take him at 3? I guess the scenario has gone through my head. I don't see them doing it, but I just hold out the slightest bit of possibility that maybe the Giants say that's the guy we think is the best quarterback in this draft. Let's just take.
Peter Rosenberg
It's funny, by the way, it is funny that we laugh off completely the idea of like drafting a kicker high. And yet. And yet every season, the one position besides quarterback that you can blatantly say cost you or 1U games is kicker. And yet it's completely devalued.
Don Hahn
Always.
Peter Rosenberg
It's like, it's such an afterthought. It's a crazy thing.
Don Hahn
Where did Jankowski go again? Like in the first round like that? That's so rare.
C
Yeah, I mean, it changed the Commanders season last year. That Giants commanders game was a week too.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, right. That's exactly right.
C
I mean, that game right there. But I was obviously talking about like sixth, seventh round.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, well, listen, either way anyway, anywhere high.
C
I was just trying to kill time in the.
Don Hahn
You did.
Peter Rosenberg
You did. You did a good job. At the beginning of the call, we talked about you killing people. Now you're killing time. His name's Jordan. Ron on. Thank you, buddy.
C
You're a pro. I like how you connect that right there, Peter. That's why they pay you the big bucks.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. They don't give these jobs to chimps. As a wise man once said, stay safe, have fun this weekend. And we'll talk to you on the other side of it, I'm sure.
Don Hahn
Good job.
C
All right, guys. Enjoy the draft. Thanks.
Peter Rosenberg
What? That's impossible. Enjoy the draft. I'll enjoy my life.
Don Hahn
I got to come.
Peter Rosenberg
I can't have you enjoy my life this week. You know I'm going to enjoy. I have a daughter, Don. I'm going to. Of course I'll be well.
Don Hahn
No, I get that, but the draft is going to be a major part of your life this weekend, whether you know it or not.
Peter Rosenberg
At some point.
Don Hahn
You mean when that phone blows up on our group thread? What do you think? What do you think John Winthrop's going to be texting you?
Peter Rosenberg
You know what?
Don Hahn
Score.
Peter Rosenberg
You know what? He's so right about that. Hold on.
Don Hahn
Did you see that Jesper brat goal? No. He's going to be. He's going to be analyzing the draft pick by pick. I'd shut my phone off. I wouldn't even take it out of the charger.
Peter Rosenberg
Hit play on here and tell me how I'm supposed to worry about the draft. Just hit play and tell me if I'm going to worry about the draft.
Don Hahn
Oh, geez.
Peter Rosenberg
Come on. How am I. I don't have time to waste. Look at this kid. How cute is this child?
Don Hahn
I. I don't care if you're cheating on the wrapping. Is that a zipper?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Yeah. What do you mean on the.
Don Hahn
You're not.
Peter Rosenberg
No. You rapper too.
Don Hahn
Okay.
Peter Rosenberg
You swaddle and zip.
Don Hahn
Yeah. Because you want to swaddle. That looked like you were cheating.
Peter Rosenberg
No, but that one was a game changer.
Don Hahn
I don't know.
Peter Rosenberg
She's an unbelievably adorable child.
Don Hahn
It's amazing. I mean, you're a good looking guy. You contributed very little to this.
Peter Rosenberg
You have to imagine.
Don Hahn
I mean, I mean that as a complete compliment to her. She is absolutely gorgeous.
Peter Rosenberg
I know. She's really, really cute, man.
Don Hahn
Bob witnessed told me this when I was telling him about looking in my daughter's eyes. He's like, I would completely buy her a pony. If she was able to speak at that age. Whatever she asked for, I would trot it right into the room. I know.
Peter Rosenberg
It's so true.
Don Hahn
That sensation will go away at some point.
Peter Rosenberg
No, I'm sure it will. But then it comes back. I'm sure it points too.

So yesterday we announced that Lou Lamorello is not going to be back as president General Manager of the New York Islanders and kind of makes sense considering, you know, where he is in his career and it's probably the right move for the Islanders to move on. But then Arthur Staple tweeted earlier today that the reports are that Chris King and Greg Picker are gonna be relieved of their duties as the announcers on the radio for the New York Islanders, and the Islanders are gonna go in a different direction and what they're gonna do, we don't know. Are they gonna simulcast the TV feed? Are they just gonna do away with radio altogether? And I've known Kinger for over 20 years. I got to know Greg a little bit over the last few years. But I've known Kinger since the Islanders were on our air when we first started here back in 2001 and the first season in 2002 and covering that team. And Kinger is a tremendous human being and he's a tremendous broadcaster and more important than Anything else. He is an Islander through and through. He was a fan of the Islanders, grew up covering this team, and for 31 years he has been part of their radio broadcast, whether it be play by play, color, pre and post, all of that. And I also understood where we are as far as radio is concerned as an industry. And I'm sure that most of these organizations look at radio as a lost leader. We saw during and now after Covid that a lot of teams are not traveling on the road. The Islanders did not travel this year on the road other than going to the Garden or the Prudential Center. They did it off the monitor. And almost all the Canadian teams do it. Don't travel as a way to save money. I get it. We live in a world where it's about the bottom line. And there are other markets that simulcast the tv. They do it with the Los Angeles Kings, Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars. There's a few teams that do it. Nashville, Buffalo. But in New York, it just can't stand. There's a certain professionalism that comes with having a radio team now not wanting to do it on radio. Hey, that's the way of the world. The Devils are on the app, but Matt and Chico call their games and they are the radio team of the New Jersey Devils. And even though the Islanders over the last few years were split between us and Hofstra, and last year exclusively on Hofstra, at least it was available, there was a radio team. The nine professional sports franchises in this market for the four major sports all have a radio team. And for the Islanders to not have one is an absolute disgrace. The fact that they did it a few years ago, embarrassed themselves, went right back to what they should have done, and that's Rehire Kinger and go back to doing the radio on the play by play, that they're gonna go do it again is completely tone deaf. They will save money. There's no question. How much money. Believe me, it's gonna be south of a million dollars if you know what you're doing. But you're a professional organization paying players millions of dollars. You just opened up a brand new building that's one of the best buildings in the National Hockey League. Believe me, I've been to them all I know. And you're gonna be in New York, the biggest metropolis in North America, and not have a radio team. Dude, what are you doing? Honestly, you save yourself a few bucks, but really, do you want to have to live with the black eye that's gonna cause your organization by saving a Few shekels. Honestly, what are you saving? Respect yourself. Do the right thing. These are good people that are mouthpieces for your organization. I know mouthpiece sounds pejorative. I don't mean it that way. I mean it in the sense that these are people that speak for your organization, that know your team, that promote your team. Chris King loves your team and he calls a game out of love for the organization. How do you send that guy out the door? How much money is worth it to have that walk out of your building? Now, Brendan Burke and Butch Goring are going to do a great job on tv. And if you want to take the simulcast, fine. Simulcast. A television call on radio is cheating. It's not the way it's supposed to be done. You're going to hear sound effects. You're going to hear, look at that play. Or do you see what happened there? That's what your radio audience is now going to get. Small time, small market, semi pro. Do you really want that for your organization? How much money is that worth? I am sure the person, the executive that came up with this idea said, look at all the money we can save by letting these guys go and doing away with radio is going to save us money. I'm sure they probably got applause as they left the room. Oh, thank you for saving us a few hundred thousand dollars. Great job, buddy. Good job. We got a promotion for you coming up. But how about the black eye your organization is going to have to walk around with? When every other team in the market has found a way to make it work in some way, shape or form and you decide not to play ball, you should be embarrassed. Not a professional move. Not a classy thing to do. Bush league. How much money, Peter, do you save? How much? How much could they have been making? How much does an engineer. You're already not traveling again. I get the costs I get. In a post pandemic world, there are certain decisions that have to be made. But to not have radio in New York is Minor League.
Peter Rosenberg
I 100% agree.
Don Hahn
You cannot call yourself a professional organization and do that. And to tell Chris King who is more important than probably half the people that work for the New York Islanders? You no longer have a job here. Greg Picker, who works his ass off to analyze the games, saved a few bucks. Good for you. A few bucks for what? A new nameplate on your Mercedes Benz? I mean, what are you doing? You're a professional organization. You're playing paying players millions of dollars. I thought the new UBS arena was going to change all that was going to change. This minor league organization that used to travel not that long ago, their players commercial because they couldn't afford a charter that I thought this new regime was gonna get us out of. That they got out of the Bambox at Nassau Coliseum. Actually got a beautiful, gorgeous arena. One of the best arenas in the National Hockey League. And this is how you want to save a few bucks?
Peter Rosenberg
There wasn't an option to go to those guys and say, hey, we're losing money. Whatever it is, whatever nonsense these places all tell you, here's a way that we can still make this work. There was no way to do that. They had to just let them go.
Don Hahn
I don't know the circumstances of how much was saved or what.
Peter Rosenberg
Do you know if they were given an option?
Don Hahn
No, because the option to leave would not have been one of Chris King's options. I can guarantee you.
Peter Rosenberg
Exactly right. There's no world again.
Don Hahn
I don't doubt this money being saved, Peter, but how much money is worth the embarrassment of not having radio on a professional sports franchise in New York? How do you do it?
Peter Rosenberg
Tough to argue, Don.
Don Hahn
Very tough. And these are. These are good people. You know what? Classless. They can't lose enough for me as far as I'm concerned. Hope they lose every game they play.
Peter Rosenberg
Let's see real quick before we go to break here, guys. And we have a big 4:00 hour coming up. Game time brought to you by Tullamore to Irish Whiskey. When it's game time, it's Tully time. The Mets Phillies in action right now on 880. As you know, the Yankees are closing it out with the Guardians as we speak. I think that's done, right? One final. Yeah, it's a final. It's a win for the Yanks. Five one Aaron Judge two for four triple RBI run walk doing Aaron Judge things. Also NBA on deck tonight. You got the 7pm vehicle magic and the Celtics. A seven. That's a TNT 7:30. The NBA TV vehicles, the heat and the Cavs. That's about right. And then of course, your TNT nightcap, Burr. Hopefully Shaq doesn't poop his pants for this one. The warriors and the Rockies.
Don Hahn
You think that really happened?
Peter Rosenberg
I think that was legit. Yeah, I think so.
Don Hahn
You think he calgaryed the situation?
Peter Rosenberg
It was very close.
Don Hahn
That makes me feel good. You know, me and Shaq share something in common.
Peter Rosenberg
Warriors and Rockets. The 9:30 nightcap on TNT. Tullamore Dew. The original triple distilled, triple blended and triple cast matured Irish whiskey. Be sure to grab a Tullamore Dew or try the new Tully Honey during today's action. That Tullamore Dew honey is delightful. Glasses up to enjoying Tullamore Dew responsibly.
Don Hahn
See if you get the reference. Nancy just texted me, said, jalen looked at the Mets Philly score, said, oh, two, two. Who's winning, Mommy? And I told her the Bears. She didn't get it. Do you get it?
Peter Rosenberg
I told her the Bears.
Don Hahn
Jacob, do you get it? 2, 2, 2, 2. I work with Philistines. All right, I'll give you the exact quote. What's the score? Nothing. Nothing. Who's winning? Bears. Come on. Cubs are playing at a pizzeria. I hate both of you. Thanks for listening to the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast.

Don, Hahn & Rosenberg: Hour 1 – Draft Preview Summary
Release Date: April 23, 2025
In the inaugural episode of "Don, Hahn & Rosenberg," the trio delves deep into the much-anticipated NFL Draft, offering insightful analysis, spirited debates, and passionate opinions that cater to both casual fans and seasoned enthusiasts. Hosted by ESPN New York stalwarts Don La Greca and Alan Hahn, alongside hip-hop veteran and WWE personality Peter Rosenberg, this episode seamlessly blends sports discourse with their unique personalities.
The episode kicks off with a robust discussion on the shifting landscape of the NFL Draft, particularly focusing on Shador Sanders' unexpected drop in draft projections.
Don Hahn (02:01):
"So just be careful here. No, I'm going to be careful. I'm going to try to keep it to a dull roar. How about that?"
Peter Rosenberg (04:00):
"It happened in a moment. In a frigging moment."
Hahn and Rosenberg express surprise over Sanders slipping from an anticipated top-10 pick to the mid-20s, analyzing potential reasons behind this dramatic change. They speculate about internal team conversations and the possible hesitance from teams with existing quarterback strengths.
A significant portion of the conversation centers on the New York Giants' draft strategy, especially regarding their approach to selecting a quarterback. The hosts debate whether the Giants should prioritize acquiring a quarterback or focus on other impactful positions like defensive ends.
Don Hahn (09:00):
"You went through it with Chase Young... it's a regrettable pick, but."
Peter Rosenberg (16:21):
"And now of course, your TNT nightcap, Burr. Hopefully Shaq doesn't poop his pants for this one."
They discuss the potential of Abdul Carter being selected at the third pick, weighing the risks and rewards of opting for a quarterback versus a defensive powerhouse. The conversation highlights the intricacies of draft decision-making, emphasizing the long-term implications for the Giants.
Engaging with their audience, Don and Peter take a call from a listener named Mel who shares his thoughts on the show's direction, particularly lamenting the absence of former co-host Mike and the challenges listeners face in capturing memorable moments.
Mel (19:35):
"Second, man, like I said, I've been listening to y'all for years, and I'm really hurt because, number one, first thing, Mike is not on the show anymore."
Don Hahn (22:04):
"But right now we're on 1050 and of course VSPN New York."
This segment underscores the hosts' commitment to maintaining listener connections and adapting to changes within the show's dynamics.
In a passionate segment, Don and Peter turn their attention to the New York Islanders, expressing strong disapproval over the recent decision to relieve long-time radio announcers Chris King and Greg Picker of their duties. They argue that eliminating the dedicated radio team diminishes the franchise's professionalism and disconnects with loyal fans.
Don Hahn (44:02):
"And for the Islanders to not have one is an absolute disgrace. The fact that they did it a few years ago, embarrassed themselves, went right back to what they should have done, and that's Rehire Kinger and go back to doing the radio on the play by play, that they're gonna go do it again is completely tone deaf."
Peter Rosenberg (51:23):
"You're a professional organization paying players millions of dollars. I thought the new UBS arena was going to change all that was going to change."
The hosts debate the financial motivations behind the Islanders' decisions versus the intangible value of maintaining a dedicated radio presence. They advocate for the importance of radio broadcasters as essential voices that connect the team with its fanbase, highlighting the negative repercussions of sidelining experienced announcers.
As the episode nears its conclusion, Don and Peter provide listeners with a brief overview of upcoming sports events, including MLB games and NBA matchups. They inject humor and personal anecdotes, maintaining a balance between serious analysis and light-hearted banter.
Peter Rosenberg (52:15):
"How much money is worth the embarrassment of not having radio on a professional sports franchise in New York? How do you do it?"
Don Hahn (53:34):
"Hear more of Don Allen and Peter weekday afternoon starting at 3 on 8."
Don Hahn (02:01):
"So just be careful here. No, I'm going to be careful. I'm going to try to keep it to a dull roar. How about that?"
Peter Rosenberg (04:00):
"It happened in a moment. In a frigging moment."
Don Hahn (07:32):
"But Tennessee needs a quarterback and he... I think they're better off, as far as the future's concerned, than if they had the number one pick and would have to take Cam Ward."
Mel (19:35):
"Second, man, like I said, I've been listening to y'all for years, and I'm really hurt because, number one, first thing, Mike is not on the show anymore."
Don Hahn (44:02):
"And for the Islanders to not have one is an absolute disgrace..."
Peter Rosenberg (51:23):
"You're a professional organization paying players millions of dollars. I thought the new UBS arena was going to change all that was going to change."
