Peter Rosenberg
This is the Don sports talk radio host.
Alan Hahn
I'm here to tell you that the majority of Giants fans, they're not excited about this. This will continue the emotional abandonment that Giants fans have with their franchise.
Don La Greca
No, no, no.
Alan Hahn
That is going.
Peter Rosenberg
You know you have a real life Giants fan sitting right next to you.
Don La Greca
Hello.
Alan Hahn
Well, his microphone wasn't working.
Don La Greca
It was just limp.
Peter Rosenberg
Just like the Giant season.
Don La Greca
That's right. See, but my history tells me I can still make it work.
Alan Hahn
What happened? Anthony, also another Giants fan. You don't like what you see in the studio right now? What problem here?
Peter Rosenberg
No, he's good. By the way, you can't ask Anthony about the Giants because they could be signing Roger. Stall back. There's not a thing.
Alan Hahn
Well, you never know. They might. If they can't get Rogers, who's next.
Don La Greca
On the list, back in a time machine and reject Eli. You know, he had a 0.0 quarterback rating against the Ravens in his rookie.
Peter Rosenberg
Year, so why not?
Don La Greca
I.
Alan Hahn
But this list of potential, if they.
Don La Greca
Don'T get Rogers, the best of the list, I'm telling you again, it's not great. It's disgusting. The Giants are in the situation that they're in. But as a Giant fan, sick and tired of the team being embarrassed of what they have as their options and it just, it's. It's abundantly clear they're not in love with these quarterbacks. But even if they are, if I'm going to go with a veteran and Stafford's off the table, Aaron Rodgers is their best option. And I said it to Carl. You can disagree with me all you want. I think there's more baggage with Russell Wilson than with Aaron Rodgers. Is Aaron Rodgers baggage more sexy and more conversational? Yeah, sure.
Peter Rosenberg
I got you. Don't see Don. I got you.
Don La Greca
It's this.
Peter Rosenberg
It's this Aaron Rodgers baggage is with the media. He gets along with his teammates, everybody. That's the only thing that matters. Really?
Don La Greca
From one jet that played with it.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don La Greca
They're never going to say one guy I wonder.
Peter Rosenberg
Never going to say Alan might have heard from one. All right.
Alan Hahn
Never going to say it.
Don La Greca
Wide receivers almost don't count because they're like divas, right?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, not only that.
Alan Hahn
No.
Peter Rosenberg
But the wide receiver, quarterback relationships you need.
Alan Hahn
I would say it's also critical.
Don La Greca
Was there. All right.
Peter Rosenberg
It is.
Don La Greca
Obviously. Him and Garrett may not have gotten along, and he wanted to get traded if he was going to be here. Okay, there's one. But did we hear any complaining or Rogers was this. Or Rodgers with that? All I heard was what a great teammate he was, how helpful he was. I didn't hear that about Russell Wilson in Seattle. I didn't hear about that Russell Wilson in Denver.
Peter Rosenberg
You ever listen to a. Ever listen to Marshawn tell stories about Russell Wilson? Not exactly on the same page.
Don La Greca
All right, so. And again, I'm not saying either of them are bad guys. And you know what? If the Giants can only get Russell. Russell Wilson, I'll find a way to make it work. I want a competent quarterback. But. And listen, Peter and I spent a lot of time in the Michael K Show ripping into how nozzle y Aaron.
Alan Hahn
Rodgers on that Rosenberg podcast.
Don La Greca
That sounds like heaven to me.
Alan Hahn
Listen live weekday afternoon starting at 3 on 8 80, ESPN, the ESPN New York app, and your smart speakers. Don's microphone needs some blue chew real quick. It just. He can't keep it up.
Don La Greca
Cannot keep it up.
Peter Rosenberg
It went. Just went down.
Alan Hahn
What?
Peter Rosenberg
Count John. Right after he heard John Frenchie Fuqua just went to sleep.
Alan Hahn
Ready?
Peter Rosenberg
That's a. That's really, you know, an unfortunate start to what's going to be a tremendous day here.
Alan Hahn
Tremendous.
Peter Rosenberg
This could be the day that Aaron Rodgers becomes a New York Giant. But it won't be.
Alan Hahn
Is that what everybody really wants?
Peter Rosenberg
Yes.
Alan Hahn
No, it isn't.
Peter Rosenberg
No. If your ass is.
Don La Greca
But honestly, of what there is to go out and get, tell me he's not the best option. And I think he'll be. He'll have a chip on his shoulder to play, and I think you might get something out of him. It might not. But I don't know what I'm going to get out of Russell Wilson. I don't know what I'm going to get out of Kirk Cousins. Come on, Carson Wentz. What are we doing?
Alan Hahn
What are we doing? Well, you're dredging now.
Peter Rosenberg
That's what we're doing.
Don La Greca
Yeah. Right now we're just. We're scraping the bottom of the pool.
Alan Hahn
Correct.
Don La Greca
All right. But I honestly don't think Aaron Rodgers is that bad of an option. Yes, Peter, you're right. From a talk show host standpoint, we salivated having a guy that's gonna give us something every single week. But just. I'm just not even talking as a talk show host or some sort of football analyst. I'm talking as a Giant fan. I would be excited if Aaron Rodgers was the quarterback of the Giants more than any other option other than they drafted Cam Ward and he's great and they're going to start him. But if I'm going to start a veteran with the understanding he's going to mentor my young quarterback or at least have an option, if those two quarterbacks go, one, two, give me Aaron Rodgers.
Peter Rosenberg
I am in lockstep with Don. And then I'm speaking, of course, as a non Giant fan who has to talk about football for a living in this town. Give me Aaron Rodgers to the Giants twice. And Alan, you got to feel the same way. Come on. You wouldn't prefer to get to follow the Rodgers saga and also just being realistic, not even just the saga of it. Go into every week knowing maybe I'll see some magic between Aaron Rodgers and Malik Neighbors on a given week. I'm kind of here for it. Relative to the options on this page, you want to go over the other names and see who gets excited. Does Carson Wentz. Are you familiar with the work of David Blow? I mean, this is the list that we're talking about. These are not great names.
Alan Hahn
Is he Joe's brother?
Peter Rosenberg
That's right. Joe Blow's brother.
Alan Hahn
Joe had a run. I'm trying. This is from the Giant fan perspective.
Don La Greca
For some reason, his brother, I just never got into play. I don't know if you're familiar with the work of David Blow.
Peter Rosenberg
You're aware that happened in real life, Alan, right? That when David Blau first started a game, Don was giving his picks.
Don La Greca
It was Thanksgiving.
Peter Rosenberg
And when he. And we're getting to the Thanksgiving game and Don, reading it over, said this in complete sincerity. He said this.
Don La Greca
You familiar with the work of David Blow? I guessed wrong. But it wasn't that.
Peter Rosenberg
No, it was an educated guess. It was Blauer Blow.
Alan Hahn
You didn't want to err on the side of caution and just go Blau and hope you were wrong.
Don La Greca
So the three brothers, David, Joe and I went out there to play football, right? I struggled and I really struggled. Everything, no matter what he did in school with the ladies, just everything he did, just poor. I just could not gain any traction in anything he did. But he may not even be with us anymore. I don't know who is.
Peter Rosenberg
Who is left on the list, though.
Don La Greca
That we had Kirk Cousins.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don La Greca
Who doesn't want Winston Carson, Wentz, Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson. I. You know. And now. Now what else? Anybody that might have played.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, oh, the other.
Don La Greca
Oh, you want to get a D. Chill.
Alan Hahn
Gardner Minshew. Still out there. And he.
Don La Greca
Sure. Oh, you really, you know, the best.
Alan Hahn
For last functionally started. Jameis Winston. You said him.
Don La Greca
Here's the article that I saw earlier today.
Alan Hahn
I showed.
Don La Greca
I showed Anthony.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don La Greca
Joe Flacco.
Alan Hahn
Oh, of course.
Don La Greca
Why not?
Peter Rosenberg
Like you dream about what are we doing.
Alan Hahn
Why not?
Don La Greca
You could sit there and hate Aaron Rodgers guts. You might take two vaccines because you hate Aaron Rodgers as much as you do. Tell me he's not the best option. Tell me.
Alan Hahn
I think what Carl. Carl Banks said yesterday. We had him in studio for an hour yesterday, and boy, was he. He had the filter off, which I thought was great.
Don La Greca
But he was coy about Rogers.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, but see, it's the wording, right? And I understood what he was saying. He said with Rogers, like, you know what you're getting. Like, he doesn't hide it, you know, like, he's very upfront. He doesn't. He said with Russ, his teammates don't know, and that's worse. Would you. Would you say, like, that's. If you want to talk about. The difference is that one guy is pretty upfront about who he is. And you already know what you're getting. With Russ, though, it's like you don't know because he does his thing and then one day he's this, the next day he's that.
Don La Greca
But what you do know is selfish.
Alan Hahn
But pretends to not be selfish. It's very strange.
Don La Greca
The problem, but that's what Carl is saying, is always be careful of the people that try to be something they're not. And I think that's why he lost half the room in Seattle's. Like, I don't even know what this guy's about. One minute he's like, I'm Russell Wilson. Let's talk sports. And then say, hey, you, Seattle. It's like he's fugazi and nobody wanted to trust him. And he's the quarterback. You go back to the movie Draft Day, which we both think is underrated. The whole thing about the quarterback being drafted is, why did you.
Alan Hahn
How many teammates went to your birthday party?
Don La Greca
Because you're the quarterback. You're the rallying cry and. All right, I understand. Wilson didn't get along with him. You're Never going to have 100% people on your side. But in all the years we didn't hear too many people have problems with Aaron Rodgers. Matter of fact, a lot of them wanted to continue to play with him and continue their careers with them. Maybe selfishly because he made them better. But, you know, there didn't seem to be a lot of issues. Russell Wilson lost the room in Seattle. He was a complete diva in Denver. He finally seemed to find his way in Pittsburgh because Pittsburgh wasn't going to tolerate that. Right. So. And he had no choice because he was getting towards the end of his career. And even then it wasn't like it was spectacular in the second half of the season. And you wonder too, not to throw the jets into the conversation, does that worry you as a Jet fan, that even though they couldn't score and they were losing games down the stretch in Pittsburgh, that Justin Fields, they never thought to go back to him?
Alan Hahn
No, there's no question, you know, so like I wonder now, is it more Arthur Smith than it was Mike Tom? Probably, because that's what I wonder is. I wondered that. I always wondered that about Fields and anybody made the case before the jets sign him. And again, I have like, I am not excited about this signing. I'm intrigued by it, but that's it. The best word, nothing more. So it's not something that I'm like, you know, I'm buying a jersey. But I always wondered that is towards the end of the season when it got clunky, the fact that because one thing we do know about Justin Fields is regardless of how he plays on the field, his teammates love him. Like, he is a very popular player. And so why Tomlin didn't think we need to go back to Fields would suggest that they didn't like the way that looked either, right?
Don La Greca
No.
Alan Hahn
And that's what concern you.
Peter Rosenberg
I would like more insight on that. That is.
Don La Greca
We'll get it.
Alan Hahn
We can get that. Actually, it's a.
Don La Greca
It might have just been the case of, hey, who's the Pittsburgh person for.
Peter Rosenberg
Us to talk to? We got to find the right Pittsburgh.
Alan Hahn
I know one of the reporters there. We could, we could get on the.
Don La Greca
Show, but you know what? We're going to find that out. That's why the jets were, you know, only 30 million guaranteed over a two year contract. So they have the ability to kind of wiggle around that, but the options weren't great for either team. And the jets find themselves in a situation because of the new quarterback of the new head coach, new general manager that they don't feel a sense to win. Giants want to win this year and am I on board again? I on record saying I want the chain and Dable gone. I wanted to start fresh.
Alan Hahn
Right.
Don La Greca
But if these guys are going to stay and they're going to try to win games, then let's try to win as many as we can. Now, if you're. If you're the tanking crowd and don't want Aaron Rodgers because he might win too many games, I don't know what to tell you.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, you're not on board, but if.
Don La Greca
You are going to try to win games and try to be a functional organization with the quarterbacks that are available. I'm really intrigued by Aaron Rodgers. I think he played well in the second half of the season. I think he'll be on his best behavior. Everybody comes with baggage, otherwise they wouldn't be the options that they are. And I will stand by the fact that I think the baggage for Russell Wilson's worse. He's not a team player, may not get along with the young quarterback. Is he going to be able to handle New York? You know, Rodgers can handle New York all right. He might say a few things that he maybe shouldn't say, and he might cause a little controversy here and there, but if your team's strong enough, you'd be able to fight through it. Did any of the things that Aaron Rodgers did with McAfee or anywhere else affect the winning and losing? The only thing that affected was his Achilles in year one and then recovering from the Achilles in year two.
Alan Hahn
That's where I completely agree. Like. Like that's where we're on the same page. As a Jets fan throughout the ordeal of Aaron Rodgers, none of it bothered me. It didn't matter to me. And maybe that's just because how I am.
Peter Rosenberg
What about the missing camp?
Alan Hahn
I always felt that that was much ado about nothing until after the fact, when the jets started using it as reasons why they want to move on from him. I thought that was something that he had already pre planned. And I have a feeling that Saleh let it go and then realize that I can't do that. It's a bad example. And then that's why they had to go public with him. And they always remember when they packaged him with. I forget who the other player was. That wasn't there either. And they were also being reprimanded. It is not. It's not excused.
Don La Greca
Was it Reddick?
Alan Hahn
No, it wasn't Reddick. It was somebody else. But it's still like those. Well, maybe it was Reddick, actually, but those are the things that when it was happening, I'm like, I don't care. Get on the field, play well, and everything's fine.
Don La Greca
And I have.
Alan Hahn
That didn't happen. That's when I got pissed off.
Don La Greca
See, we disagree on the level of aggravation it was, but that was all just still taking advantage of the jets, handing him over everything and letting him run the show. That's not going to be the case anywhere else he goes. You think that's going to happen in Pittsburgh if he goes to the Steelers? No.
Peter Rosenberg
What do you mean?
Alan Hahn
What do you mean? Like, why do we all think that he's suddenly going, the tiger won't change his stripes. He is what he is. And if Arthur Smith, who by the way, likes to run the ball, he's not. Arthur Smith's not a down the field guy.
Don La Greca
What I'm saying is, is that the jets brought him in. Please, Aaron, save us. We need to win a Super Bowl. Do whatever you got to do, whoever you want to do. Pittsburgh's gonna be like, here, this is what. This is our plan. You good? And the Giants could be like, well, this is our plan with you. You good? Make a decision. So there's nothing, there's no, hey, whatever you want, Aaron, it's. Here's our proposal. This is what we think you're gonna do for us in 20, 25. Same with the Steelers. Make your decision. So he's gonna go there knowing exactly what's expected of him, and if he strays from that, well, then that's on him. It's not, hey, do whatever you want, right? You're gonna know, hey, you might be right. It might be an absolute disaster. But guess what?
Alan Hahn
You've already got George Pickens, who's a pain in the ass. You've already got DK Metcalf, who you brought in signed. And we all know that he's not going to stay quiet about things. He does have weapons. Those two wide receivers in Friarmouth as your tight end are very good weapons.
Don La Greca
That's why it just seems to me a moot point anyway, right? How are you taking this?
Alan Hahn
What's taken so long is the next question, right? Because if he's waiting to hear from the Steelers and, like, what he hears from the Steelers, what is waiting? So, Adam Schefter, what's the latest on Aaron Rodgers?
Don La Greca
Adam, everybody is waiting to see what he's going to decide and what he wants to do. And I think the Pittsburgh Steelers are waiting on an answer from Aaron Rodgers. The New York Giants are waiting on an answer from Aaron Rodgers. Russell Wilson is waiting on an answer from Aaron Rodgers. All we can do is go by how he's behaved in the past. He does not like to rush into these things. He likes to take his time, process them. He does things on his schedule when he's ready. And my understanding is that this could be a little while.
Alan Hahn
Oh, dear God.
Peter Rosenberg
But Jordan, first of all, now, that could get annoying.
Alan Hahn
That changes something here, because you hear what he's saying. He takes his time. He makes decisions on his time and all that stuff. Does that sound like a guy that's ready, hat in hand, to take the best option? Just so I see.
Peter Rosenberg
I just want to play, score a point for Allen.
Alan Hahn
Like, that doesn't sound like a guy who's ready to change his ways. Not when the Steelers are like, hey, you know we're interested in you. And his response is, who wants to.
Peter Rosenberg
Come to LA and visit me? Who's gonna come hang out on the beach with me?
Alan Hahn
Yeah. Who's coming to recruit me? Cause that's what the jets did. Are you coming out to see.
Don La Greca
Is it recruiting or is it just. He's got three decisions, three. Three options on the table. Go to Pittsburgh, go to New York, or retire.
Alan Hahn
Yep.
Don La Greca
And he's. He has shown a history of being very deliberate when he's gotta make a decision. From what I understand, it's not like the Giants and Steelers are upping their offers and changing things, trying to entice.
Alan Hahn
It's like, what do you want?
Don La Greca
They've reached out to him and said, this is our plan for you.
Alan Hahn
Right.
Don La Greca
Go chew on it. Make a decision. So I. I know I'm sounding like, you know, Mr. Rogers here defending him, but I do feel like it's an important decision. I can't imagine with the three options he has, the Giants would be an option for him. Unless he just wants to stick it to the jets and not want to move.
Alan Hahn
No way. I don't know why he's thinking, let me go to the Giants so I could stick it to the Jets.
Don La Greca
I don't want.
Alan Hahn
He's saying, I want me go to the Giants because I love being in New York.
Don La Greca
Okay.
Alan Hahn
It's an. They're desperate. They'll let. They'll give me some rope here. They'll give me, like. I think it's more like that. I don't think it's anything. Has nothing to do with Jets. In my opinion. It's nothing to do with the jets, but here's here. But if you're him, do you want to play in the AFC North? Their offensive line is not very good now. You're going to get pounded in that division.
Don La Greca
List. This another of the hundred reasons why I don't think the Giants are taking a quarterback. Because if the Giants are drafting a quarterback, they would have told Roger, oh, we plan on drafting a quarterback. You're going to be his mentor. Why would that entice Rogers when he's got a chance to start for a playoff team in Pittsburgh? They just traded away his competition in Justin Fields. They're not going to keep Russell Wilson. He'd have the job. 17 games for a class organization with a great coach and a team that's a winner every year, or he's going to go to the Giants, play seven games and then hand the reins off to a kid. The only way the Giants are in this conversation is if they told him, you are going to be our starter the entire year and then you don't have to sell your house in New York. We'll sign devonte Adams for you.
Alan Hahn
I told you, they put. I'm cutting you off because, you know, you and I have been saying the same things and we're saying opposite things.
Don La Greca
Okay.
Alan Hahn
But we keep saying we're going round and round now. Sorry, I know it's both of us doing it because I just keep saying this. They put a ton of work into Cam Ward. If they have already come away saying, this guy's not able to not draft him because, remember, they could have taken J.J. mcCarthy. They put a lot of work into him. They love Drake May. They love Daniels. Neither one of them was available. They couldn't trade up and they passed on McCarthy for the better talent that was available. If you're telling me that they are in the same place with Cam Ward or they know we can't get Cam Ward, we're not in on Shador Sanders. They must know, like, that's what it has to be.
Don La Greca
Well, it's either.
Alan Hahn
There's no selling point to Rodgers. You can't say you're gonna play the whole year. You can't do that.
Don La Greca
Can't do it.
Alan Hahn
Not if you draft a quarterback.
Don La Greca
And why would it be enticing for Rodgers to come here to play mentor and play half a season and have the last year?
Peter Rosenberg
Why can't you commit to him for playing for the year? Why?
Don La Greca
Oh, no, I guess you could, but you can't guarantee. You can't guarantee.
Alan Hahn
If things go sideways, we're gonna play our kid.
Peter Rosenberg
By the way, you could guarantee it all. If it gets to the point where you say they do have Tommy DeVito.
Alan Hahn
So.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, you can't guarantee it on paper. But my point is you can tell him no, of course, it's your team. That's it. And if you get to week 13 and he's garbage, no, it's so long, goodbye.
Don La Greca
But honestly, it's nothing. Who cares? It's nothing that has to be said. I think Aaron Rodgers is smart enough to realize if they draft a quarterback and he has a great training camp and I get off to a slow start and we're owing 5, I'm going to lose my job. I don't care how much they guarantee him, he's going to lose his job.
Alan Hahn
I'm thinking as you're talking about it and we're keep going. Why is he even considering the Giants if the. If the Steelers are the better situation? How are the Giants even in the conversation? The way you just laid it out about. And I did too, with the receivers, you have the tight end, you have.
Peter Rosenberg
He lives here. Dude. It could be that simple, that convenient. It couldn't it be? I mean, it's kind of nice. And by the way, he likes by the way, so I love Pittsburgh. So does Don. I don't know how much time you spent there, Allen.
Alan Hahn
It's a great city.
Peter Rosenberg
Underrated. Great city. But for what Aaron Rodgers is looking for.
Alan Hahn
Finance city.
Peter Rosenberg
But for what he's really looking for in life, I think Aaron Rodgers would prefer to be here. So I think there's a lot of upside to New York that's not football.
Don La Greca
But that would be the one positive there would be. And I'm a Giant fan.
Alan Hahn
Alpine, New Jersey. That nice?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, it is.
Don La Greca
What other.
Peter Rosenberg
It's pretty nice.
Don La Greca
Positive would there be?
Alan Hahn
No, it is.
Don La Greca
You're not guaranteed. I don't care what the Giants guarantee them. He's not guaranteed to play the whole year. Most likely not going to be a playoff team, not in that division. Or go to Pittsburgh, be your starter for 17 games if you stay healthy with a chance to make the playoffs with a functioning organization. I don't even know how it would be an option to go with the Giants. And if you're telling me they're not drafting unless you're telling me now, it makes it a little bit more enticing if the Giants aren't drafting a quarterback now, maybe they are in on Cam Ward, but no, they can't get them. They can't get something done with Tennessee.
Alan Hahn
That's what I'm saying.
Don La Greca
Ward's going to go to Cleveland. We don't like Sanders. We want a quarterback so we can actually win some games and then you.
Alan Hahn
Can start for us. And if you love Hunter and you're going to get like a veteran quarterback now what happens though, again, if there's a lot to do, well then, because what happens if. Which we all think, if we all can assume the obvious thing is, and by the way, Adam Schefter said it's official now, the jets are releasing Aaron Rodgers after 4:00 today. So he's a jet for a half hour, everybody, or 40 minutes. That's it. And then it's over. They're gonna take on 49 million in dead money by releasing him now designated as post June 1 cut. So they'll carry his $21 million cap hit until June 1. Then it drops to 14 million. That saves him an extra 7, but they still will absorb $35 million dead cap hit in 2026. Aaron Rodgers, the gift that keeps on giving to the Jets. You don't wake up dreaming of McDonald's fries. You wake up dreaming of McDonald's hash browns.

We just talked to Don about this Record just a couple weeks ago. Don, this is Passing Me by by the Far side. Just one of the. The great rap records ever made. And I don't think that's an exaggeration. And that's a.
Alan Hahn
No, no.
Peter Rosenberg
Legitimate. It's one of the best songs of the 90s, rap or otherwise.
Alan Hahn
This is top five song of the 90s. Album is probably top 10 for me.
Peter Rosenberg
It is.
Don La Greca
It's.
Peter Rosenberg
It's.
Alan Hahn
It's so good. Far side was it. That's when things started to turn, right? The jazz came out and. And this. But this was like, in that in between stage.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, this is a great, great moment.
Alan Hahn
Right at the end of college for me. Oh, you're old, but yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, yeah. You graduated in 93. 92.
Alan Hahn
93 was my graduating year.
Peter Rosenberg
There you go.
Alan Hahn
This is right at the tail end. Like, it's one of the last dorm songs I remember hearing right when I.
Peter Rosenberg
Was starting high school. Bus in such glorious but different times of life.
Alan Hahn
Yes. Yeah. You were just walking into your prime. I had one leg not born. And of course, Anthony not born. Just a gleam in his father's eye.
Peter Rosenberg
I. The. The Far side album came out in 92. 93. I think the date was actually 92, but you can tell me if I'm wrong.
Alan Hahn
But it got like. When it hit was like, well, spring 93. No, no.
Peter Rosenberg
I was in eighth grade when that song started really ringing. So that would be Jake.
Alan Hahn
That wasn't fall 92 release. Spring 93 was like when it. It started getting play.
Peter Rosenberg
Tell us the date, Jacob.
Alan Hahn
Tell me I'm right. I know. I just remember hearing this.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, let me get to the point that I was gonna make, which is that I. I ordered the shirt from inside the cassette. This was not done by normal people, but I filled out the actual form and sent it in the mail. I kid you not, guys. It was close to a year. But I have the shirt to this day.
Alan Hahn
Wow.
Peter Rosenberg
Remember that fit? Oh, yeah. It was an XL. I bought an XL.
Alan Hahn
You bought it? Oh, it's just the 90s. What am I talking about? Everything was XL.
Peter Rosenberg
I would have only worn, by the way, at that age, I was already wearing XL for sure. I mean, like, probably fit.
Alan Hahn
Not just because it's the 90s. You wear everything baggy.
Peter Rosenberg
No, I think in eighth grade, I wasn't. I wasn't a skinny boy. No, I was wearing an XL already. Don, you wearing an XL in eighth grade?
Don La Greca
Not eighth grade.
Peter Rosenberg
You were still a small boy.
Don La Greca
Yes, there was a time. You're gonna laugh oh, boy. There was a time my parents were concerned about me.
Peter Rosenberg
They thought I had a tapeworm.
Don La Greca
Like I was pounding food. Like, this kid can't gain an ounce. There's something wrong with him. We should get him checked. I think he's got a tapeworm. That's what I remember. My mom said, I think he's got a tapeworm. Hun, get him checked. He's got a tapeworm that eventually I think I did.
Alan Hahn
You have tapeworm?
Don La Greca
I didn't have tapeworm. I had, you know, teenage metabolism, which was just glorious.
Alan Hahn
Jake still has it, Jacob. He can get anything.
Peter Rosenberg
Jake's ain't leaving.
Alan Hahn
He has. You're the same. Let's be honest. You're the same size you were when you were like, 14, right? Be honest.
Jacob
I am 100% the same size I was when I was 14.
Alan Hahn
Isn't that crazy?
Jacob
I was the tallest eighth grader.
Don La Greca
I hope you have a great birthday today, by the way. How old are you?
Jacob
33 now. Thank you.
Peter Rosenberg
33.
Alan Hahn
Wow. This is his. So today's your soundtrack day. Right? Like we're letting you.
Don La Greca
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
Instead of playing music for us. I said that in the group text. I know you don't check it.
Peter Rosenberg
It's your birthday.
Alan Hahn
But I did say this is your day to play your music. I thought Far side. I thought that was one of your. Cause you do. He does trend old school.
Peter Rosenberg
He does.
Alan Hahn
Which I love that about.
Peter Rosenberg
For a guy his age. He's very old school.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. So I thought this was just part of your playlist. It's not.
Jacob
No, it's not. I was. That's actually one of my scramble songs. You know, one of the songs I need to go to. And I just have it on my page, but.
Alan Hahn
Okay.
Jacob
I do have an old soul. And we're gonna hear it here today. Far side album came out 92. November. I think that I said 92. That June. During the summertime is when Passing Me.
Alan Hahn
By is when it hit.
Jacob
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Was very big.
Jacob
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
So.
Alan Hahn
So it was May right around when I was graduating, right around when we were moving out of now off campus. And I remember hearing this song. I remember being warm and I remember hearing it the first time. And where were you in school again? Liu Post.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, yeah. Like you dream.
Alan Hahn
Like you dream about. Trust me.
Peter Rosenberg
I bet.
Alan Hahn
I don't think. I don't know if I dreamed about it, but.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, I bet. I bet Came true there, though.
Alan Hahn
I didn't have to. Well, some did, I bet. And there was a big nightmare.
Peter Rosenberg
But it was also right now I.
Alan Hahn
Didn'T have to pay for school. That was a nice thing.
Peter Rosenberg
Really. Now be honest. Just let's.
Alan Hahn
Somebody was dumb enough to give me a scholar.
Don La Greca
No.
Peter Rosenberg
No judgment here whatsoever. Being serious.
Alan Hahn
Okay.
Peter Rosenberg
Academically, what kind of school are we talking about?
Alan Hahn
The LIU Post then or now?
Peter Rosenberg
Then.
Alan Hahn
Now it's.
Peter Rosenberg
Everyone says that about every school now. I feel like they go, oh, everyone, that's right.
Alan Hahn
It's different now.
Peter Rosenberg
Everyone tells me Maryland, no one can get it. My niece and nephew are like, we're not going to get into Maryland. We get straight A's. But no, when you went there, was it a good school or. No, it can't be great, right? We're being.
Alan Hahn
It had its, you know, it was, you know, mid give. Middle of. Middle of the pack.
Peter Rosenberg
Give me a mid school in an area like Long island, and you are going to run into some good times at that school. A nice mid school. Yeah. There are good times to be had.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm just saying.
Alan Hahn
And that campus, at that time, in that era.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, come on.
Alan Hahn
Was. Was a little more. A lot of soul on that campus.
Peter Rosenberg
Really.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, it was. It was low key, like. Yeah, it was. It was a lot of culture, really. Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Good concerts came to the.
Alan Hahn
We had some shows at Tiller Center. Yeah. But like I said, for me, it was a great, great learning experience. Got to color with all the colors in the Crayola box.
Peter Rosenberg
Look at you.
Alan Hahn
It was a lot of fun.
Peter Rosenberg
I didn't know it's where we were going, but here we are.
Alan Hahn
Hey, you asked, I tell. Hey, by the way, if you're going to the Big east tournament, which starts today, I just was by the Garden and the Providence College band was outside on the sidewalk performing. It was great. Like, just the vibe of college basketball was in the air. But if you're going to the Big east tournament, we're gonna be live Friday at the Irish exit in Moynihan Train hall, which is literally next door to msg. So if you're gonna go, come hang out with us. We're gonna have special Big east guests throughout the show, along with giveaways, drink specials, you know, you'll love that. So spend your Friday with us. You know who might be in attendance with me on Friday? Oh, we call him Big Al, my father in law.
Don La Greca
Really?
Alan Hahn
Yeah, he's up from Florida. Nice hanging out. And the girls are going away for the weekend for a hockey tournament. A volleyball tournament. Yeah, volleyball this time.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay.
Alan Hahn
And so it's just. Just me, him and the dogs. So I was like, don't hang out. Come with me.
Peter Rosenberg
Now, let me explain. Let me ask a question here. How long is Big Al coming for?
Alan Hahn
He's coming for the show. Well, now we got to make sure he's got a drink in his hand.
Peter Rosenberg
Now, where's he coming from?
Alan Hahn
With me, from Long Island.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, he's just coming from Long Island?
Alan Hahn
Yeah, no, he's already in town. He came in. They came in yesterday.
Peter Rosenberg
Got it.
Alan Hahn
So, and so I, you know, it's gonna be a long day for. I gotta get up in the morning. I'm gonna go home, and then I'll go get him and we'll come back and, you know, he's gonna hang out for the duration. And the only thing we have to make sure that he's got at least one beer beverage in his hand.
Peter Rosenberg
By the way, by the way, programming note here. Look at the Don Hahn and Rosenberg takeover Friday. Allen Hahn on Get Up. Peter Rosenberg on first take.
Alan Hahn
That's right. We're gonna pass each other in the space.
Peter Rosenberg
You're gonna be part of the place. That's right.
Alan Hahn
Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
Friday.
Alan Hahn
That's excellent.
Peter Rosenberg
We don't know what beef Stephen A's gonna have between now and.
Alan Hahn
I love that.
Don La Greca
You should be doing more stuff.
Peter Rosenberg
I know. About time I get myself in front of a microphone.
Don La Greca
Why aren't you on TV more, Peter?
Alan Hahn
You haven't done enough.
Peter Rosenberg
One of the great lines ever asked me by an executive who made those decisions. The executive who made those decisions, Peter, gotta ask you, why. Why aren't you on TV more?
Alan Hahn
And you're like, I've been asking myself that question.
Peter Rosenberg
I said, you are literally the only person who can answer that question.
Don La Greca
It's like your wife saying, why don't we have more sex?
Peter Rosenberg
But guess what? Here we are. And it came in a good. A good week where I needed distraction, something fun to do. So look at us taking over. And then we go straight to Moynihan hall to see the people march.
Alan Hahn
This is going to be awesome in March. So. So confirm St. John 6:30.
Don La Greca
No. Well, they got to win. I mean, they got to. Yeah, they got to win.
Peter Rosenberg
They got to win tomorrow.
Alan Hahn
I think we. Their first games tomorrow, right? Whoever they play today was a problem.
Don La Greca
The Province playing Butler, right?
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, today's a schedule like you dream about.
Alan Hahn
I think that is the eight game.
Peter Rosenberg
You know, I know the nightclub tonight. The. At the nightcap of the bacchanal is Villanova. Seton hall like you dream about.
Don La Greca
I believe Seton hall had such a bad year.
Alan Hahn
I feel bad for him. Like they. They Just don't have any money. That's their problem. They have no money.
Peter Rosenberg
You never knew that would be the issue.
Alan Hahn
What happened?
Don La Greca
Imagine if you said that three years ago.
Alan Hahn
Oh, yeah. No, it's probably seen. It's amazing.
Peter Rosenberg
Butler Providence at 4. DePaul Georgetown at 6:30. Seton hall in Nova. A matchup of the 7 and 24 Pirates.
Alan Hahn
So game one. So the winner of the Providence Butler game plays the Johnny's.
Don La Greca
You can't lose that game.
Alan Hahn
Wait, wait, wait. That's right. That's noon tomorrow. Right.
Don La Greca
And then. So in all likelihood St. John's charging him will be the 630. They just have to win against the winner of Providence.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, right. That's it. Right. Win that game and then we'll have them at six. They are will be the 6:30 game though.
Peter Rosenberg
And that I demand Richard come to Moynihan hall on Friday. I demand it. I want him to stop whatever dental surgery he's doing, walk right out and show up at Moynihan.
Alan Hahn
Well, if you. If you insist. We normally wait for rfm, but if you want him now, let's ask him if you want him now. Richard in Manhattan. Richard Allen? Yep, that's me.
Caller
Hi, Don.
Alan Hahn
Yes.
Caller
Yeah, we're Allan. Hi, guys. Listen, Pitino in St. John's this feels like 1983. Allen, Valvano and North Carolina State. I'm feeling, I think he's going to do that kind of run. I really do. Now you were mentioning about changes by coaches or smart players and the change Valdano in that run. I don't know if you knew this, Alan. He was losing a lot of the games in the tournament. What he would do was foul their worst foul, throw, shoot, free throw shooter. And they changed. The NCAA changed it after that. It used to be, I guess one and one. And then they made a two shot foul, something or they made the minimum number of fouls go up higher. He did something where he was manipulating the worst foul shooter on the other team. So I remember that. And you know, Pitino is just the guy that can pull it off. Like Valvano did in 1983. I feel it like that. Oh, by the way, Alan, this time of year we always think about the great runs at Saint at Madison Square Garden. And you can take this to the bank. I've seen them all since 1965, NIT and Big east tournaments. The greatest run is 50 years ago today because this team was not a great team. Princeton Tigers went right through everybody. They beat my Providence and Oregon with Butch Lee and by the way, Providence had by the on that team the first specialized three point shooter in the NBA, Joey Hassett. Anyway, Princeton went right through them. All of those teams in seven days. It was unbelievable.
Peter Rosenberg
I remember like it was yesterday. Richard, real quick.
Caller
And Don Crickey and Sonny Hill were doing the game.
Peter Rosenberg
Richard. Richard.
Alan Hahn
Caller
Now, one last thing, fellas. Can I bring up one point about the tush bush?
Alan Hahn
Sure, sure.
Peter Rosenberg
Of course.
Caller
All right, fellas. Peter, you're going to love this.
Don La Greca
Okay?
Caller
The only re. This is an illegal play. I've been watching football 65 years. You are not allowed to aid a football runner. Oh, no way. You can't touch him in the back, in the leg, on the shoulder. I don't know. All right? But the reason why it was good was because the push.
Alan Hahn
Are you sure?
Caller
It's an endearing term. Now, my question to you, Peter. In 1967 Ice bowl game, Green Bay was down at the half yard line. Time is running out. What Vince Lombardi, if he had at his disposal the tush push, would he have went tush push with Bart Starr or he would have kept it. Then what he did was Bart Starr just ran the quarterback sneak. What do you think would have happened?
Peter Rosenberg
Peter, I have not the foggiest idea, but let's go. I think he goes tush push. I could see that being a thing that he would love.
Caller
I think it's a great. It's such an endearing.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, we all think things. Hey, real, real quick, Richard, do you want to come to Moynihan hall on Friday and say hello?
Caller
I'm working. I would love to come, but I'm working. I know. I would love to come if I could swing it.
Alan Hahn
Hang on a second. Are you working to. When, When's your last appointment of the day?
Caller
Oh, 4 or 5 o'clock. But you guys, I'll see what I can swing.
Don La Greca
6:30.
Caller
You're in the old post. It's going to be in the old Post office on 8th Avenue.
Alan Hahn
Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
Yes.
Caller
Inside. I haven't been around there.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay, Richard, we will. You will royal treatment if you show up. Okay.
Alan Hahn
I had to let him go.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, well.
Alan Hahn
And guess what? Five minutes I had the ability to let him go.
Peter Rosenberg
Look at you.
Alan Hahn
Look at this.
Peter Rosenberg
How to feel?
Alan Hahn
Look at us. It feels good. Now let's really test it. Let's really test it. Laron and Queens, Here we go.
Peter Rosenberg
Laron.
Don La Greca
Yay.
Alan Hahn
You're on, Laron.
Laron
Sorry, guys. Can you hear me?
Don La Greca
Oh, of course.
Alan Hahn
We certainly can.
Laron
Yes, yes, yes.
Alan Hahn
The best Part is you can hear us. That was, that's critical.
Laron
Yes, definitely.
Alan Hahn
It's a big moment.
Laron
So I have a quick, quick thing about the Giants. First thing, I've always said that I would stand put at three. I think they should try to get Honda. Hopefully he falls to them.
Alan Hahn
Yep.
Laron
And then you got to think about it. In a perfect world, there's a lot of quarterbacks that there's not teams that need too many quarterbacks. Your 34th pick you can use for maybe a Jackson dart or a Shador. Imagine a Shador and Hunter reunion if you move up maybe a little bit in a first round with the 34th pick or stay put and wait there. But I like Jackson dart. But tell me what you guys think about that. But I really believe that they should stay at 3. Don't move up. And obviously we need Rogers only because we need a veteran presence and he's not going to cost much and he's only going to be there for one or two years.
Alan Hahn
One to two is one year. Probably two. If you say two, it's one year too long. Thank you, Laron. I will just say this and this is what we teased before. What really is the next real like the option that they could have here. Like Don, it's if you're, if you're not going to draft a quarterback and clearly if they don't think they can move up to get Ward because it sounds like does Tennessee take them or somebody going to jump ahead of you or, or is Cleveland going to take them? Right. And now you're, you're out. It's still Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter. If Travis Hunter's sitting there at three, that's, that's not a loss. Right. It's still a really good player and you're adding what you need, corner, maybe part time wide receiver as well. Adding that to what you have. That's not, it's not a loss. And you can get a Jackson Dart or you can get someone else second round or late. You know what I mean? Like there's still a way to get a young quarterback.
Don La Greca
The reason I like Hunter because it sounds like he will start a corner and then eventually morph into a wide receiver. And that's what they need.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don La Greca
So yeah, you got plenty of options if you're not going to take a quarterback. For sure. If Tennessee doesn't take a quarterback, they're taking Card. Right?
Alan Hahn
Yes, that's what it sounds like. So then Cleveland would, wouldn't be able to take a quarterback. Oh no. I'm sorry. If you're saying if they don't take a quarterback.
Don La Greca
If they don't take a quarterback, they take Carter.
Alan Hahn
Ward's gone at two.
Don La Greca
Right.
Alan Hahn
So the Giants are still kind of screwed. So the only way to get but to ensure you're getting Ward is if Tennessee's willing to trade with you.
Don La Greca
So why wouldn't Tennessee trade if they know they're not taking a quarterback and they know the Giants aren't going to take Carter at 1, they're going to take the quarterback. Then you could take him at 3.
Alan Hahn
But if you're taking Ward, why do you want Rogers take anyone else? Carson Wentz, I mean, Marcus Mario is off the table now. He's actually back with your team.
Peter Rosenberg
Peter resigning, backup.
Alan Hahn
He's very happy.
Don La Greca
Why are you so against him being a mentor?
Alan Hahn
I just don't. I just don't think it's what you want in that situation.
Don La Greca
No, because I'm a big believer. See, everybody looks at mentor.
Alan Hahn
Rogers will come in. You have to guarantee, like, Wilson's not a good mentor either. I wouldn't want Wilson around him either.
Don La Greca
Well, because I just don't know how good a teammate he is. I think Rogers is a good teammate. Love praised him that year he got to spend with him. Why would I want to watch a guy that's going to the hall of Fame? I don't want to watch Carson Wentz.
Alan Hahn
How'd that work out? Zach Wilson, how'd that work out? Like, you know, maybe because Zach Wilson.
Don La Greca
Just doesn't have it, man.
Peter Rosenberg
Listen, I'm not in love with him as a mentor at this stage, but I'm not like Allen, who thinks it absolutely is an impossibility. But I think we're going to learn a lot over the next 24 hours because there's a chance, Don, that the. That the show he puts on in signing with the next team tells us everything about what this next thing is going to be. He may not give us hat in hand Rogers at all. It may still be. Nah, dog. Y'all are getting Aaron freaking Rodgers. In which case I tend to lean more towards Allen. So, like, I have to see what happens over this period.
Don La Greca
Pittsburgh's pretty good at what they do, right? I know people don't like their coach and they haven't won a Super bowl in a long time, but they seem they are.
Alan Hahn
But, you know, Don, they have had. And we got to run here, but.
Peter Rosenberg
They have a lot of locker room problems.
Alan Hahn
They have had issues, and that's what Tomlin's had to get rid of they, they've not been a very good judge of character.
Don La Greca
That is true.
Alan Hahn
But they brought in guys that they've had to then say this, this guy doesn't fit. This guy doesn't fit. I mean, you know, eventually you guys are wondering why we keep bringing the guys that don't fit.
Don La Greca
But if you're getting a vibe that Rogers is going to act like the man, then you're good, right?
Alan Hahn
Yeah. Like, again, if I don't see the.
Don La Greca
Same, all I know is Mr. Diva in Denver, in Wilson. Was that the case in Pittsburgh, you know, demanding his own office and all that? No, he buckled down.
Alan Hahn
No, but how fast are they willing to get rid of him?
Don La Greca
Well, because he just didn't turn back.
Alan Hahn
Think about it. Justin Fields was their first option. It was the fact that Fields didn't want them to be his first option.
Don La Greca
But I think that says a lot. But I think they look at Aaron Rodgers as an upgrade.
Alan Hahn
More you calls 800 now 193776 we do have a list. Yes, Today. Oh, it's a good one.
Don La Greca
We got to curate this. We haven't had.
Alan Hahn
It's going to be fun to argue this one too. So stay with us. Don Han Rosenberg 8080 ESPN Peter, hi.

Alan Hahn
Thanks for listening to the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast.
Peter Rosenberg
I didn't listen to anything you just said.
Alan Hahn
Catch the show on demand whenever you want. Just subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts. Show his chops. I'm curious, though, if he's going to go into other genres. It really shows range. Like, I wanted to blow me away with the song like. Like, give me a little, like, Tony Bennett or something like that, where you're like, wow, this is out of nowhere. But then again, it's not, because I know he does have a little jazz in his background.
Jacob
See, I have jazz on the record to play. All right, I have it sometime later.
Alan Hahn
But maybe not that.
Peter Rosenberg
It's not gonna be Tony Bennett, is it?
Jacob
No, no, no.
Alan Hahn
It doesn't have to be Tony Bennett. I'm just saying, like, something that might catch my fancy a little. Miles Davis, Coltrane.
Jacob
Yeah, I do. See, I like a lot of songs that, you know, I feel like I play it in the street and it's my theme song for the day, you know, just around New York City.
Alan Hahn
I like the theme.
Jacob
Those type of songs.
Alan Hahn
I like the theme song. All right, that's good.
Peter Rosenberg
All right.
Alan Hahn
Duke, Duke Ellington and Coltrane. That's good, too. That whole album is good.
Peter Rosenberg
Jake, how. What birthday is this for you?
Alan Hahn
It's the 33.
Jacob
33Rd.
Peter Rosenberg
33.
Alan Hahn
All right, 33rd. And the third. Game time is brought to you by Tullamardu Irish Whiskey. Because, Donnie, when it's game time, it's early time.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm so glad I made the decision. I made better. No, he's. I will. I am predicting Don will retire from this gig.
Alan Hahn
You think you're going to bail on it?
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, within. I'm giving him.
Alan Hahn
You're bailing on. On. Really?
Peter Rosenberg
Now, if I say a timeline, and now if I say a timeline, he's going to want to be stubborn, and so I'm not going to say how long, but he's bailing.
Alan Hahn
Give me a time of at least 18 months from that.
Peter Rosenberg
No, not. Oh, my God. No, no.
Alan Hahn
You think sooner.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, my God.
Alan Hahn
Over under 18 months, and you think.
Peter Rosenberg
It'S sooner that he's gonna stop doing the.
Alan Hahn
It's over under three months.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, I was thinking under that. Yeah, Yeah. I think you'd be sick of it. I think he's sick of it within a week.
Don La Greca
I'm sick of it now. But I do it because it's good for the show.
Alan Hahn
If you like it or don't like it. Like, maybe we should put up a poll. We haven't put up a poll since we've been in the studio.
Peter Rosenberg
Do you like.
Alan Hahn
You guys have a good poll to put up?
Don La Greca
Excuse me. Do you.
Peter Rosenberg
You do you like when Don says it's Tully time? Is the poll?
Alan Hahn
Yeah. Like, do you prefer Don and a daily version of It's Tully time.
Don La Greca
It's.
Alan Hahn
So good.
Peter Rosenberg
I think he's done enough now. They should just use drops. Let the poor man not have to do it.
Alan Hahn
Or we could have.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm trying to help Don.
Alan Hahn
How about if we get, like, people we know to just record it and we use theirs randomly? Like Dave Maloney. For sure.
Don La Greca
Well, I.
Peter Rosenberg
Now it's a conversation.
Alan Hahn
It all started with Dave.
Don La Greca
You know, I'm reading the book about the turtles. You know, Happy together.
Alan Hahn
Oh, that Turtles.
Don La Greca
When they were. When Flo and Eddie.
Peter Rosenberg
The book about the turtles.
Don La Greca
Well, because. Yeah, my buddy's in it. And I interned with Flo and Eddie when I was at kroc and they had a classic rock show. Whenever they're drop. Whenever their guests. Really, I need to bring it up for the story. Whenever they would have a guest in studio, they would have that guest sing Happy together with them. Oh, wow. Like, one time they had Gary Reasons there and he did it, but then they had Ozzy Osbourne do it.
Alan Hahn
Oh, wow.
Don La Greca
So why not?
Peter Rosenberg
What I wouldn't do to hear Gary Reason sing Happy Together.
Don La Greca
Oh, Az. He was a very underrated line. He was the Greg Buttle of the Giants. If we thought about it with Carl, when he was in studio, whenever we have a guest in studio, we have them do the Tully time.
Alan Hahn
Oh, yeah.
Don La Greca
And then we record a bunch of them.
Alan Hahn
There you go. I like that.
Peter Rosenberg
But because it's a sponsored thing.
Alan Hahn
What? What?
Don La Greca
He wouldn't enjoy the attention?
Peter Rosenberg
No. We should at least give him a bottle of Tully or something. Something. You got to give them something.
Alan Hahn
All right, let's work on that. You know what I'm saying? He's got the Tully account. Let's get some bottles, put them in the studio.
Peter Rosenberg
That way you give them to a guest and say, hey, all we want you to do is give us some.
Alan Hahn
Charlie just wanted you to do a little read. How about it's telly time?
Peter Rosenberg
Let's see. That's a good one. He's reading a book about turtles. Meanwhile, he never stops.
Alan Hahn
Right when he says, I read a book about the turtles.
Peter Rosenberg
I was like, I know.
Alan Hahn
My daughter saves turtles. Is that what this is about? No, it's different. No, but the other turtles. Anyways, the Knicks continue their west coast trip in Portland. You get involved with coverage at 8:80, at 9:30. So at least we have a 10:00 tip tonight. Note the start time.
Peter Rosenberg
There you go.
Alan Hahn
Following Dan Grasse tonight, By the way, we got a doozy on espn. You don't want to miss this game.
Peter Rosenberg
What's that?
Alan Hahn
Best of the East.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh boy.
Alan Hahn
I mean, the defending champs, they're not the best in the East, Cleveland is. But the best in the West. The Thunder. Oh, this is your team? You don't know about this?
Peter Rosenberg
No.
Alan Hahn
Celtics? Thunder?
Peter Rosenberg
No, that's not my priority tonight.
Don La Greca
Thunder.
Alan Hahn
Thunder.
Don La Greca
Thunder.
Alan Hahn
Thunder. Coverage starts at 7. It could be an NBA Finals preview.
Peter Rosenberg
Could be.
Alan Hahn
It could be Tulla Mordu. The original triple distilled, triple blended, triple cast matured Irish whiskey. Be sure to grab a Tulla Mordu or try the new Tulla Mordu, honey. During tonight's action, glasses up to enjoying Tulla Mardu responsibly.
Peter Rosenberg
That's going to be a hell of a game. And I think. I think there's a solid chance it's a preview of the finals. Although part of me thinks it's not going to be. But I will say tonight, I'll put.
Alan Hahn
Money on that one that you think it is. Like if you're giving me odds of which we do have, by the way, espn, Beth does have that and potential NBA Finals.
Peter Rosenberg
You would take that one.
Alan Hahn
I think that's the one that probably has the shortest odds.
Peter Rosenberg
No, it could be Cleveland.
Alan Hahn
I can check my fanduel.
Don La Greca
Nobody believes in Cleveland.
Peter Rosenberg
That's the thing though. But if you're not in the mood to watch the fantastic lineup of basketball on espn, the second episode of WWE Evolve on Tubi with your boy Peter Rosenberg doing play by Play. That's at 8:00 on Tubi to get you all warmed up for the Nick game like you dream about.
Alan Hahn
Oh, you'll yours ends and then Nick pregame. All Don has to do is flip it over to MSG and Then he.
Peter Rosenberg
Gets to support both of us back to back, Don, belly to belly.
Don La Greca
I will be honest.
Peter Rosenberg
You know what? We're going to find out.
Alan Hahn
Your energy in the post game was a little like, felt like to me like the hours were catching up with that pregame. Like the Rangers third period. Yeah, but his pregame, by the way, phenomenal. Phenomenal pregame.
Don La Greca
Interesting critique.
Peter Rosenberg
Just a little.
Alan Hahn
Just a little.
Peter Rosenberg
I like what he did.
Alan Hahn
I like it, you know, just letting you know I am watching and I am paying.
Don La Greca
It was late and it wasn't, you know, a riveting game. And they lost two to one.
Alan Hahn
Fair. Very fair.
Don La Greca
That's a new studio. Listen, I.
Peter Rosenberg
New studio.
Don La Greca
Well, I'm just getting used to everything.
Peter Rosenberg
And you know what else I heard about Don last night.
Don La Greca
I had diarrhea.
Peter Rosenberg
That you dream about.

Podcast Information:
Alan Hahn opens the discussion expressing skepticism about the Giants' current quarterback options:
Alan Hahn [00:33]: "The majority of Giants fans, they're not excited about this. This will continue the emotional abandonment that Giants fans have with their franchise."
Don La Greca counters by highlighting Aaron Rodgers as the best available option:
Don La Greca [01:12]: "Aaron Rodgers is their best option. [...] There's more baggage with Russell Wilson than with Aaron Rodgers."
Peter Rosenberg adds depth by comparing Rodgers' media relations and team compatibility:
Peter Rosenberg [02:04]: "Aaron Rodgers’ baggage is with the media. He gets along with his teammates, everybody. That's the only thing that matters. Really?"
The hosts engage in a nuanced comparison between Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson, discussing their leadership styles and potential impact on the team. Don La Greca emphasizes Rodgers' professionalism and rapport with teammates:
Don La Greca [02:52]: "I didn't hear that about Russell Wilson in Seattle... I didn't hear about that Russell Wilson in Denver."
In contrast, Alan Hahn points out Wilson's inconsistent behavior and its implications:
Alan Hahn [02:31]: "Carl Banks said he lost half the room in Seattle. How fast are they willing to get rid of him?"
The conversation shifts to other potential quarterbacks, including Carson Wentz, Kirk Cousins, Dave Blau, and Gardner Minshew. Don La Greca critiques the lackluster choices:
Don La Greca [04:16]: "I don't know what I'm going to get out of Russell Wilson. I don't know what I'm going to get out of Kirk Cousins."
Alan Hahn discusses the Giants' strategic decisions regarding Cam Ward and the potential drafting of a new quarterback:
Alan Hahn [19:08]: "They put a ton of work into Cam Ward. [...] if they're not drafting a quarterback, maybe they are in on Cam Ward, but no, they can't get them."
Don La Greca and Alan Hahn delve into the broader team management issues, including the Giants' relationship with Coaching Staff and Player Relations:
Don La Greca [09:54]: "The Jets find themselves in a situation because of the new quarterback of the new head coach, new general manager that they don't feel a sense to win."
Peter Rosenberg raises concerns about the Jets' handling of Aaron Rodgers' release:
Peter Rosenberg [21:24]: "Adam Schefter said it's official now, the Jets are releasing Aaron Rodgers. [...] They're gonna take on 49 million in dead money by releasing him now."
Don La Greca predicts Aaron Rodgers' decision-making process and his fit with potential new teams:
Don La Greca [16:05]: "Aaron Rodgers would prefer to be here. [...] He's gonna go to Pittsburgh knowing exactly what's expected of him."
Alan Hahn concurs, emphasizing the importance of Rodgers committing fully to any new role:
Alan Hahn [19:42]: "Do you want to play in the AFC North? Their offensive line is not very good now."
Peter Rosenberg remains cautiously optimistic but aligns more with Alan Hahn's skepticism:
Peter Rosenberg [40:20]: "I'm not in love with him as a mentor at this stage, but I'm not like Allen, who thinks it absolutely is an impossibility."
Throughout the episode, Don La Greca, Alan Hahn, and Peter Rosenberg engage with callers and listeners, discussing historical moments and personal anecdotes. Notably, a caller reminisces about the 1967 Ice Bowl game and the strategic plays of Vince Lombardi, sparking a lively exchange:
Caller [35:12]: "In the 1967 Ice bowl game, Green Bay was down at the half yard line. [...] What Vince Lombardi, if he had at his disposal the tush push, would he have went tush push with Bart Starr or he would have kept it."
The hosts respond with humor and personal stories, adding a relaxed and engaging atmosphere to the discussion.
As the episode wraps up, the hosts tease upcoming segments and events, including their takeover of Friday shows and live gatherings at Moynihan Train Hall. They also reflect on the episode's discussions, particularly the Giants' quarterback dilemma, reiterating their differing viewpoints but maintaining a cohesive dialogue.
Peter Rosenberg [44:57]: "I'm predicting Don will retire from this gig."
Don La Greca emphasizes his commitment to the show despite playful jabs from his co-hosts:
