Han.
D
I'm not comfortable touching it. I'm not. No.
E
And Rosenberg, I'm not breastfeeding.
A
No, but I.
D
That's too bad.
A
This isn't North Dakota. This is New York.
D
This is Don Hahn and Rosenberg.
C
The best threesome I've ever heard on
A
ESPN New York and streaming live on YouTube.
E
Oh, it is three o' clock in the big city, as the great Don Lagreca would say. And guess what, boys and girls, the great Don Lagreca is with us.
A
That's right.
E
Like you dream about. There's no Don legreca like Texas Don. You know what I mean?
A
Everything's bigger.
E
Everything's bigger in Texas. Including Don. Just.
A
Just to have some warm weather got off the plane yesterday and just to hit the heat. Just hit you. It's like, oh, this is nice.
E
Well, what's the. What's the temp? What are we talking about?
A
Yeah, well, when I got off the plane, it was 80.
E
Wow.
A
It's probably around high 70s today.
E
Wow.
A
But there's perfectity. Just really nice, you know, Listen, we had some nice weather last week in, in the New York metropolitan area. But. But I left, it was like 40
E
and it's currently awful still.
D
It's. It's like it's flirting. But 50 city.
E
Yeah, it's like it's not flirting. It's not good.
D
No, but it's flirting. Showing some leg.
E
50 showing leg.
D
50 showing leg.
E
That's like. That's like your aunt showing leg. It doesn't work, though.
D
Hey, when. When you've been dealing with, you know, 28, 29, 32, you know. Well, you'll take 50.
A
They say March comes in like a lion, out like a lamb.
D
Who's they?
A
Them.
D
The vase.
A
Those people that lamb, I think is disabled. I think it's only got three legs.
E
That'll work. Yeah.
A
Just limping around, just waiting to get shot.
D
Shot.
A
Yeah. Because we got to come up with a different analogy. Strong. Lion is a beast. Lion is something you want to hang around with.
D
A lamb is like, yeah, when's the lion coming in? That's what I want to know.
A
The lion's going to take care of a lamb. That's what's going to happen.
D
Yeah. When's the line?
A
The lion's gonna have some lamb for launch.
E
I thought the lamb. The lion already came. The lion's. The line was the beginning of the month. No.
A
Yes. Yeah.
E
I mean.
D
Oh, wait, I'm sorry. You have it back in, like, in like a lion, out like a lamb.
E
That's right.
D
That's the same.
A
Yes. That's the saying. And what I'm saying is, is that if this is a lamb, I still. I think we're getting too much. Lion. Lion's not leaving.
E
No, the lion ate the lamb.
D
The lion ate the lamb.
E
It's. This is. We had a couple of days where we said, oh, let's go hang out on the roof. That. That ended so quickly.
D
Yeah, there's a zero.
A
The lamb peaked out, and then the lion swatted at it.
E
And we looked at this yesterday some. Didn't we all? We were. Allen and I were pulling up the old weather, and like, next week, the best thing you can see next Monday, it says there's a high of 63. The low is 38.
D
Okay.
E
And then there's some high in the 50s a week from Thursday, which is
D
basically what April, I think it actually is, isn't it? That isn't Thursday. April 1st, probably. Oh, no, no, that's April. Isn't April 1st. Wednesday.
E
So a week from Thursday.
D
Wednesday's April 1st, boys.
E
So we get to April 2nd, and we'll get a low of 46 and a high of 72, they claim.
D
That's not bad.
E
Starting to be a conversation.
D
So that's. So is that our. Is that our first roof day or. Don, are you in? Are you at the Rock?
A
I'm not at the Rock until Friday, so I'll be around.
D
You'll be around.
A
National TV took that.
D
Let's see.
A
Capitals game. So I'll be in.
D
I'm in, too. April 2nd on the roof, boys.
E
Let's look at.
A
Let's all bring our comrade. Just do the show from the roof.
D
From the roof.
A
Ceilings. The roof.
E
I love what you're saying.
A
Let's get working on this right now. Whatever needs to get done, we'll do it right. If we could do it from hotels and homes and arenas, then why can't we do it on the roof?
E
Well, I just think we're getting a little too excited about this day, guys. It looks like cloudy high of 70 means it could be like 57 and gray. I don't know if this is like we should.
D
Listen, listen. Don't take this away from us. No, no, no. We'll deal with reality.
E
You want it to be a high
D
of 80, we'll deal in reality come Wednesday. But right now, just have this, this dream.
E
Yeah, it's going to be great.
D
I want this dream.
E
Well, you can also start dreaming of a beautiful baseball season. I'm sure it's going to be gorgeous in San Francisco when. When the Yankee season gets underway.
D
When thing throws out the first pitch of the season. My God, you hear about this?
A
It's not for us anymore.
E
No, no, no. Is it for us? No, no, no. It's not for anybody.
D
Adam's family was our generation.
E
Alan, Alan, you just nailed it. You just nailed it. It's not for anybody. Don, this. Don't get caught up in thinking. It's. It is for corporate entities. That's all it's for. There's not a fan who's going. Can you mix the Adams family with my baseball, please? That's what I really want. I want, I want thing to throw out the first pitch. It's all corporate interests. This is across everything, man. It's terrible. It's non stop.
A
It's every sport since. We live in an era where we go behind the curtain. I'm going to go behind the curtain.
D
All right, well, it's right behind you, the curtain.
A
That is true. The curtain is the window.
E
Right. And the window is the roof.
A
You want to promote something and we've had it happen. I'm sure it happened at hot. It happens at ESPN Radio all the time. Happens at msg. SNY all want to promote something. We got something to promote. Okay, we'll promote it. I'll do every read you want. I'll promote it. I'll talk about it, then somebody comes to the guy. Well, how about if you have someone on the top? No, no, no, no, no, no. It's a good idea. We'll have somebody on to talk about it and then you guys can do this and that. And now it just becomes a takeover. Yeah, and that's kind of what it is like. All right, listen. You want to promote the Addams Family? We'll talk about it. We'll do the reads. We'll show a graphic. No, no, no. I got a better idea. Let's get the thing to throw out the first. No, no, that's just stupid. No, no, no, it's a great idea.
D
The thing. Got to do it now.
E
We got to have that.
A
What's is it like the Addams Family? That's before me and Alan. That's the. That's the 60s. So what is they having a new show on that Wednesday now?
E
It's for Wednesday.
A
Yeah.
D
No, so it's not the thing. And by the way, it's a huge hit. Like the kids love it.
E
Oh no. Wednesday is big.
D
It's big. Now I want to know this though. There is a little bit of curiosity. How they pulling this off? It's a hand. There's nothing else. There's nothing attacked.
E
It's a great point.
D
By you. How's it throwing? How are we doing this?
A
Well, now you're. Now you got me wondering now. Now people are gonna tune in, right? I guess. I guess this is how it works.
D
Of course it is.
A
Oh, you know, it's getting to the
D
point now, will it be on a table and there's somebody underneath like with their hand up through the table and they're gonna do it that way some.
A
Well, and you're right about Wednesday. Cuz even my daughter think, oh yeah. Like the whole concept of Wednesday school. Even though I think the show is a little bit too much for her. It's dark point just being 8 years old. But if it's so big, then maybe what baseball needs is to have the show mention baseball. Right? Because it sounds like maybe baseball needs Wednesday more than the other way around.
D
Who's to say that they're not going to film some of this and use it?
A
Well, you know what? In the show, have Wednesday play.
D
I'm all right with that.
A
Right? Yeah, probably somebody on the. There's probably somebody in the game that's going to go over four, so what's the difference? Have her play.
E
It's guys.
A
I hate sports.
E
I know.
D
Well, you know, it's not sports anymore.
E
If that's not enough reason to hate sports, Don, who'll give you more?
D
Yeah, if you guys haven't hated sports yet, just wait.
E
How about supposed Yankee fans booing Aaron Judge in spring training? What does that do for your love of sports, Don?
D
What are we doing?
A
I couldn't believe it. You know, I saw it on social media and I'm like, I guess it makes sense, right? Because. But I'm also thinking, if you're going to spring training, aren't those the Die Hards? Aren't those the educated. Right. Like in Fever Pitch, you know where he, he goes to the Red Sox spring training to scout the team. Like he's super fan.
D
Yeah.
A
Like I can understand at games, like some people go and they're kind of casuals and it's fun to boo Judge because he hasn't won a championship. But you would think the educated Die Hards would be the ones that wouldn't do it. So that's really what surprised me. Right. It's one thing for the casuals to do it. It's one thing for the fair weather fans to do it, the uneducated to do it. But the diehards that are going to spring training and what. And probably keeping score and scouting as if they have a say who's going to make the team has decided to boo Judge off of going 0 for 4 in a game that you didn't probably know was going to get played two weeks before it. Odd. Yankee fans are different, man. I'm not saying bad. They're just different because I don't think there's another fan base like this in sports.
D
I don't know if I would just singularly point out that this is a Yankee fan thing. I think what this has become is an entitlement of a lot of fans today. I don't, I don't. I just, I, I get it, though. You're right. Because it's almost like a, A sub sport of sports to equally hate or be frustrated and express it. Which by the way, booing has happened since sports began. It's. It's nothing new. It has happened, but it's now become a thing that. Here's a. One of the great players of the sport. But it's been 10 years of. We've kind of seen the same thing out of this guy. We see greatness, but we're not seeing him take it to another level. And it's almost like as a fan, for whatever reason, now's the time that you're gonna start telling him we're kind of tired of seeing the same show. Do something new, but give me a new trick. Not the same swing of the miss for that low and outside pitch. You can't lay off like whatever it is that frustrates a fan. Like, it costs me how much it cost me to, to come down here to get a hotel, to spend a couple of days to get a ticket to come into this game. I took time off and I get nothing out of this. It's too expensive now for me to go somewhere and not get any Satisfaction out of what I'm watching. And that's a demand. It's a higher demand that you're getting from fans because of the cost of time and effort and money and all that other stuff. And why am I doing this when I could just, I could do something else. But your, you're supposed to provide me with something to feel good about. And this has become a waste of time, a waste of money. And some guys get frustrated. They want to express their frustration now.
A
But wait a minute. The last time he wore a Yankee uniform, he batted.500 in the postseason last year. You didn't not win the World Series last year because of Judge. I could understand if he went over 40 and was an embarrassment and you know, struck out the, for the last out of the Blue Jay Series that you're booing them, but you're booing him because of 0 for 4 in the world Baseball Classic.
E
Yeah, like. Well, I just don't get what you
A
want to not like him. Sounds like you want to boo him because I get everything that you're saying, Alan. From a Yankees perspective, he hasn't won, he hasn't been good in the postseason. But the last time you saw him in a Yankee uniform, he was raking in the playoffs.
D
I get it.
A
And you're jumping on him for going 0 for 4 in a game that a month before was played you didn't even know was going to be played. Sounds to me like you want to boo him.
E
Why?
A
You just said entertainment. How much it costs to go to games. More times than not you're entertained by Aaron Judge. He might as not have given you, given you a ring. I get that. But you go to a Yankee game, there's a fighting chance you're going to see a ball go 500ft. There's a fighting chance he's going to throw somebody out at third. There's a fighting chance he's going to do something special, have a special season. So I understand you're the Yankees and it's all about championships, but haven't you been entertained by this guy?
D
Can I also be the greatest right
A
handed hitter in the history of baseball? And you're booing him because he has no rings.
D
Well, let's also point out that I believe Heyman, John Heyman, who wrote the story about this, got some good quotes from Judge on it and Reggie too. But I think he also pointed out there were a lot of Orioles fans there. And so who's to say it wasn't Orioles fans that were booing him because of the wbc, and because of who he is and all that stuff.
A
Well, then, you know that I get
D
like, we saw the video. It wasn't like, you know, 20,000 fans all stood up and booed the guy, but there were a smattering of boos. I think we're just caught off guard at somebody this popular, this good, hearing any type of boos whatsoever, especially in your own stadium.
A
But you know what? You brought up something very interesting. If an Oriole fan wants to boo him, I get it, of course, because he came up small in a big spot for the United States. The same reason why, when the Devils played in Pittsburgh, after Jack scored the goal, the Pittsburgh Penguin fans who hate the Devils because they're in their division, 18,000 fans gave him a standing ovation for like a full 30, 40 seconds. So both. Both go hand in hand, right? Jack scores the golden goal. The enemy cheers him because we're all Americans, and he did something for the country. So then the opposite can be true. Hey, I'm going to boo. Judge went 0 for 4 in a big spot, so I'm going to boo him. So I got no problem with that. If an Oriole fan wants to boo Judge because he's a Yankee, that makes sense. But he also wants to boom because, hey, you didn't help our country win. Yeah, that's fair. That's fair. But a Yankee fan doing it to me doesn't make any sense.
D
Well, that's where I was.
A
You bring up an interesting aspect to it.
D
Yeah. And I would add also that here's where. Now I'll call out fans, because if you see in your building. I've always had this problem, too. You do see it in New York. You get, like, you know, certain places, especially when the teams aren't as good, they're not having a good year, or the opposing teams. Fans travel well. Like, we saw it with the Dodgers when they came to town, how there's a huge amount of Dodgers fans in this area that all make sure they do this takeover thing. They. They do the. What do they do? That march around the stadium, this whole thing. And I would then take it upon myself as a Yankees fan at a Tampa game, and I'm hearing people booing Aaron Judge is to make sure we cheer louder for him to drown out those boo. Like, was that. Did that even happen? Did you get anybody? Because I wonder if Judge is going to face this everywhere he goes early in the season. Everywhere he goes. Because now there's a reason. At first, you just had to Respect Judge, but because of the WBC and because the team lost, you were the captain and you didn't come through in some clutch situations in that championship game, that there's a reason now for Orioles fans and Red Sox fans and, you know, Blue Jays fans to say, the first time Judge comes to bat, let's let him hear it. I don't know if Blue Jays fans care because they're not Americans, but you know what I mean? Like, is it. Is, is this. Did that create something that now will create this idea that around the league it's almost, it's almost part of the sport to boo Judge?
A
Now, you mentioned reasons, right?
D
I did mention a lot of reasons
A
why people buy at Ramsey Mazda Savings.
D

You know when a Yankee fan rips Judge, like on this air, or they boom a Yankee Stadium, as much as I don't like it, I'm like, all right, listen, that's Yankee on Yankee crime, okay? That's. That's your guy. You do what you got to do. I don't agree with it, but hey, but you think once it goes national, once other people are climbing on board, that's when you got to get defensive and that's when you got to show your support, right? Like, it's one thing for you to criticize him. It's like being in a marriage. Like, I'll, I'll criticize, you know, my wife and my family, but don't you dare say something. Same thing with baseball and same thing with being a fan. It's like, hey, I'll call out Judge, but I don't need no Met fan or Oriole fan or Red Sox fan chiming in. Because once you do, I'm gonna defend my guy. You, you would hope that that would be the case. Inwardly, you can complain, but once it gets out, if this becomes a thing, Allen or he's going around the country. In San Francisco, they're booing him. In Seattle, they're booing him because he didn't come through. For Team usa. Then when he gets, when he shows up to Yankee Stadium, you've got to show your support for him. It's one thing for you to boom, but somebody else. I've always said, you got to get ticked off, man.
E
I've always asked.
D
In New York, we have this thing about our teams and our. And our players that when we're frustrated with them, they'll hear again, you know, the Baez stuff or Julius Randall from a couple of years ago. You know, Mark Messier was booed before he won a Stanley cup that year. The year before, when they didn't make the play, got booed off the ice. So that's something we do. But I also think it's more like that family thing, little brother thing. Because once somebody from the outside starts ripping your players as New Yorkers, a lot of times it's like, whoa, you know, we can say this. You can't. There's a. We do have this protection of our teams and our players. As much as jets fans hate their own franchise, hate the Jets. God forbid somebody from the outside starts ripping the jets that doesn't have. Really have any connection to New York whatsoever. We're the first ones to be like, hey, mind your business. Like, we got this. Like, you know, you can't say that about our guys. We love Garrett Wilson, we love Breeze Hall. Like, there's things we'll find about the franchise that will say, you're not going to pick on us. So it is amazing how we'll stand in front of bullets but yet also fire our own at our players. But we do that. So what you're saying, Don, I'd like to see that. And I'm curious. Like, this Tampa thing, I don't know if it's a one off. I don't know if it was because you had a bunch of rowdy Orioles fans in the building and they just wanted to cause some trouble or is this going to become a thing? Because as I said, this is going to follow Judge. After that game, after the wbc, this is going to follow him. Like, he's not going to escape it. Because we can't just say, it's just the wbc. It's not that big of a deal. It's because it's already become a bit of his reputation, but now it's enough for the whole league to kind of look and say, you know what? That guy's not clutch, as great as he is.
E
I just, I'm curious right now to Yankee fans listening to this conversation. Like, if you're a normal, level headed Yankee fan. This doesn't anger you to think that
D
in spring training I don't really care.
E
But how could you not care?
D
Because they don't care it's your guy. Because their guy also has to come through. That's what I think every Yankee fan probably saw and goes, yeah, but he
E
did come through last year.
D
I mean, but did they win? No, no, hang on, no.
E
Win the World Series himself?
D
Well, no, it's. It's less about win the World Series by himself and more about in the year you finally did something in the postseason. When it comes to consistent production, that's the year, of course, it didn't do anything for team success. Look, you're a high demand. Your expectations go up as a fan, along with the prices and everything else. And after a while, you gotta Admit, it's been 10 years we've seen this. The guy's become a great player.
A
Great.
D
Now what are you gonna do for me with all that talent? I'm telling you, that is the. You could say it's entitled, but that's exactly the mentality of a Yankees fan.
A
But, but whether you want to call it entitled or whatever is that. Why are you a fan of the Yankees? Everybody's got their origin story. My dad was a fan, my grandfather was a fan. I love the uniforms. I love the atmosphere of the ballpark. I fell in love with Scooter.
D
Whatever. Right?
A
But it sounds like the people that are booing, they just love the Yankees because they win. That's why they love them. Not because of any other reason. Because all you're looking, if all you're looking for is the championship. You telling me you're not entertained by Aaron Judge? You're telling me that you won't take pride whenever there's a list of the greatest players? Today that Judge is at the top of it. All you're gonna do is say, well, he hasn't won yet. Well, then you must be people that would pick Eli Manning over Peyton Manning.
D
But you know what, though, Don?
A
Eli was way more clutch than Peyton. But I'm sorry Eli couldn't shine Peyton's shoes.
D
Right? And you're right. But. But I think times have changed. Because think about this. Ernie Banks, in all his years in Chicago, they loved him, right? Cubs never won, but they loved him. Beloved. I don't know if that could ever happen again when you're that good of a player and your team doesn't win. I think there's just a different mentality now for sports fans, for Society than ever before. It just isn't like it used to be. And that's a. To me, Ernie Banks a great example. Great example. Dominic could be an example more locally.
A
And listen, Ernie Banks, Don Mattingly, these Williams players. Ted Williams is the only one that we just mentioned that I would even put in the conversation with Judge, right? Probably better. Okay, but Ernie, I'm sorry, Aaron Judge is better than Ernie Banks.
D
How about Henrik? How about Henrik?
A
But he's. He's better at baseball than Henrik was playing goal for the Rangers. I mean, that's the point I'm making. It's one thing to be the best player on your team. We're talking about the best player in the sport. And if you want to argue Ohtani, we'll have that conversation. And Ohtani might win. But we're having a conversation as the best in the sport.
E
Is he the best?
A
Not the best outfielder. I'm talking about the best player. Henrik was never the best player. Ernie Banks was never the best player. Dom Matting was never the best player. The. This is the best player. And he's on a trajectory. To be in the conversation as the greatest to ever play the game and to be appreciated by your fan base is unreal.
D
Mike Trout, Don.
A
Mike Trout is in that conversation.
D
And now everybody's kind of moved on from it. It's like there was a time where you just acknowledged him as the best player in the sport, but never got to the playoffs, never won, never did anything.
A
That's fine and I get that. But I'm sure in Anaheim they cheer him. Do they boo him?
E
Boo his ass. Ladies and gentlemen, I almost think apathy. It is time for Drop Madness to get underway on this Tuesday. A lot of great matchups. The four thirteens and five twelves. We start in the flub region, the four seed on 880.
A
ESPN, New York and ESPN. We're so bad.
D
We're so bad.
E
Up against. Ooh, a spicy 13.
D
You said it way more eloquent.
E
Eloquently stumbling on the word eloquent.
D
There's very eloquent by me there. Very.
E
The five seed in the flub region. It was originally the one seed, but
A
I don't know what Strawn J. Whatever her name was
E
up against.
A
It is a good draw. Yeah.
D
Now.
E
Now in its proper seating, up against
A
the 12, Don Hanna. Rosenberg. But we're going. Rosenberg had not. Yeah, the.
E
Rosenberg had not the 12 seed. So we go to the funny region where we have the four seed.
A
Get him away from the cake. Somebody get him Away from the cake.
E
Up against the 13.
A
It's not gonna get any bigger.
E
Oh, well, you know what?
A
That.
E
You know what's happening there. You know what happened. Don screaming against Don not quite screaming because this isn't.
A
Get him away from the cake. Somebody get him away from the cake.
D
I love the way he ends it, though.
E
He closes it, though, with a punch so strong. But it's up. You're not gonna get any bigger. That's tough. The five seed.
A
Watch the fish tank.
E
Don's dad screaming to watch the fish tank.
D
Watch the fish tank.
E
Up against. Get it from up against the 12 seed.
A
So I'm looking forward to this. Anthony, what do you got, buddy?
D
Oh, hey, guys. We've got some calls, we've got emails.
E
Zesty Anthony is. Is different.
A
So I'm looking forward to this. Anthony, what do you got, buddy? Oh, hey, guys, we've got some calls, we've got emails.
E
We head to the troubling region. The four seed.
A
I gotta divorce my wife and have my kids bleed out. No, because the Giant game's on.
E
Otherwise, I'm not a real fan against the 13, but, you know, listen, we're doing what we do. The five seed in the troubling region. I'll be honest, the one thing I miss about having an office is. Is the taste of Steve Hart's nuts. Up against the upstart 12 seed.
A

The four seed in the nether region. Guys, this is one that to me, could go on a run. It's got a tough matchup, but this is. You know what, guys? Put this game at 7:30 on. On TNT. This is a hell of a matchup. The 4 seed.
D
What?
E
Peter up against the 13. Holy cannoli, man.
D
I tell you. Holy cannoli. It's a big one.
E
It's got. Well, it's got a cheat code. You know, little kid, cute is tough.
D
Yeah, it's a big one.
E
But Griffin looking like he wants to commit murder.
D
What Peter is. It's a cartoon. I did a cartoon of it.
E
I know. It's just like. How could you have said that?
D
The look along, the glare, the gl.
E
It's like all of a sudden he became a mobster.
D
In one second where he leans forward, hand. Two hands on the desk looking down at you. What? Peter,
E
Also we have the five seed, the great Paul Heyman from New York. I'm not supposed to say that. No, it's okay.
A
We got it.
E
It's all good.
A
But. Yeah, but we're live radio. I can't say no.
E
Don't say it again.
A
We're gonna run out of dump time.
E
But that's a bad word. That's one of the words.
A
Those are bad. Stop.
D
Stop.
E
Up against the 12 seed.
D
She talking
C
Mama.
D
Wait, she said mama you talk about. I mean a complete opposite ends of the spectrum.
E
I know. A grown large man saying a curse word repeatedly and a tiny infant uttering mama for the first time. These are the kind of matchups you get in Drop Madness, though.
D
Maya wins.
E
Could.
A
Could Maya and Marco meet?
D
Yes.
E
Oh, in the next round.
D
Oh, that's a. You could get a big sweet 16 mama versus.
E
But it requires two upsets for the 12 and the 13.
D
You know what? I'll tell you what, this matchup will tell us a lot about our listeners.
E

What Peter Telemore do responsible the other day with the one nothing win over the Blue Jackets after that tough loss in Montreal. So that was a nice bounce back. So that's a big game against Chicago. Should be able to get two right. Why not to the playoffs get at least one hockey team in the postseason and again I made the comment with it. Let's let's get can we play can we get out of the minors and get back to the majors now for the Knicks?
D
Well just quickly finish it out quickly. Pelicans have been playing a lot better lately they got 12 wins in their last.
A
Here we go.
D
It's not like Zion's healthy. DeAndre Murray finally came back 10 games ago. He's healthy. They look more like who they're supposed to be. This is not a team I would take lightly, but it's over quickly once there's a crazy split when it comes to their, their, their strength of schedule. After this game's over with, the last seven games was like one of the easiest. Like, their average winning percentage is like 29. And then the rest of the way, the average winning percentage is like 535. So they're going to start playing better teams now, and they better.
A
Oh, yeah.
D
You know, just sharp enough for the playoffs after tonight, I think. I think we're down to nine games after tonight.
E
You're almost there, Don. You're almost there.
D
I'm with you, though. Can we just get there?
A
Because I just think that's what happens, you know, you're going to the playoffs, you know, you're in good shape. Just, let's, let's go. Let's go. Nothing can be proven here, especially against these teams. Right. The Pelicans are playing better, but still, any loss, it's, oh, my God, what's wrong with the team? Any win is like, well, they're supposed to win. So it feels futile to analyze it. Let's just get to where it matters. And that's a good place to be, right? Because you got other teams in the market that aren't going to the playoffs. So I'd rather be in the Knicks shoes.
D
It just.
A
Let's, let's go. You know, it's going to be great, too. You're going to go from like 0 to 150 once the playoffs start, as far as an interest level is concerned. So let's do it.
E
Let's talk to the people while we're at it as well. 1-800-919-3776. Our good friend Jonathan in LA, he's going over tomorrow. What's up, buddy? Hi.
C
Hi, guys. Well, I never got a needle before, so it's pretty special today. Nice. Yeah. Like you said, Peter, can't wait for tomorrow. Opening day tomorrow, taking a family to Frisco up north. So I'll make sure I call in tomorrow and give it a good family. Hi, guys. Tomorrow.
A
How long is that for you?
C
I'm sorry?
A
How long a ride is that for you? LA to San Francisco about four, right?
C
No, I'm planning to leave right before rush hour. Six in the morning. I'm planning on leaving at 5:30, I'll be there at 11:30. So it's a good five and a half, six hour drive.
E
Five and a half.
A
There you go.
D
It's like going to DC.
E
No, it's for. That's what I was, that's what I thought I remembered it but it's not.
A
It is a couple hours further so it's almost valid. It's almost like New York to Montreal.
D
Five, five hours.
C
Oh wow.
D
Yeah, five hours.
A
Five, six hours.
E
I mean listen, dc, DC to New York with traffic can be five hours for sure.
D
When is it not?
E
Yeah, it's a good point. It often is five.
D
I've driven, I just drove to D.C. it's. And it was five foreign change. Yeah, you're five with the stop. You know what I mean?
E
Now if, but here. But I will tell you this, if you woke up and did the DC, the way Jonathan's doing it at 5:30 you'll be into New York City in 3:15, like it's nothing.
A
Yeah. All right.
E
What are you, what, what do you got on the judge of it all, Jonathan?
C
Really quick after you pass downtown la, it's all free road after that all the way up north, really quick. Guys, I think those, those fans, that bull, Yankee fans and trust me, I've been there and seen them like in front of me. It doesn't have to be just any Yankee fan and for any other team too. That's pretty fraudulent if you ask me. I mean I thank goodness I and I teach my stunts to don't even if he strikes out, you know, you get mad but you know, cheer them on I guess next time. Whatever. Guys, what was the last time you guys felt or seen a player with much pressure with a monkey on his back? What I mean me personally is LeBron James before he won the 2012 NBA Finals or championship or 10 whatever, it was all that pressure that they always kept criticizing the player, oh well, he ain't gonna be great until he wins it. I can't think of anyone else. I mean aside from judge. Have you guys. Any other player that comes up, the
A
one that comes to mind is Alex Rodriguez. Alex Rodriguez was, was what we went through, you know, 15 years ago, probably more pressure because when he came to the Yankees, when the Yankees traded for him, it was kind of like LeBron James. Not one, not two, not three, was like, all right, it's going to be rattling off championships and you went five years before you finally saw one. But that's the kind of pressure where the fans were booing him. They didn't care about the MVPs ripping them on the air. Which one's bigger, I'd have to really think about. And he felt a ton of pressure and then it was fine. Once he got it, it was finally lifted. But as Judge is a homegrown, like, would he almost have to win more than one? Like, when he won one, would it all be over or would be okay, let's get more.
D
No, I think it'd be over.
A
Pretty over.
E
It'll be pretty.
A
I hope so.
D
I hope so, don't you think? I think you got to get that one like that. That's, that's the one. Like again, that's, that's going to hang over Brunson right now. You know, I think that hangs over you when you're considered. Yeah, but the thing that great of a player and that accomplished of a player, it's, it's sort of like you got to get the one. It's, it's, it does feel like that's the one that sort of breaks the seal.
A
As big as Walt Frazier is. Right. Clyde's not hanging over Brunson's shoulder the way all the Yankee greats were hanging over a rod shoulder. And then Jeter hanging over Judge. I mean, that, that's the thing is that there is a specific person because they've crossed paths, right? So a lot of the fans that are boring, a lot of the fans that love the Yankees, they love Jeter. So it's like, well, that's why I say is one going to be enough? Because Jeter's got five. So is it going to be enough to just win one or is he always going to live in the shadow of Derek Jeter? Because, you know, he, he's not going to win five of them. He's just not young enough to be able to do that. The game's different now, but that's a Brunson feels the pressure to win guy. He doesn't have anybody hanging on his shoulder. They, Judge does.
E
Let's go to Vincent in Arizona. What's up, Vincent?
C
Hey, guys, thanks for taking my call. I'm a huge fan of the show. I wanted to talk about you guys mentioned Judge getting boot in spring training. As a die hard Yankee fan, it really doesn't bother me that much because I expect him to get booed everywhere. But I hope this is used as some fuel for the Fire to finally win us a championship this year. And I'm with my guy all the way, so it doesn't really bother me. That he got booed and spring training.
D
Oh, it should bother you, though. Like, I know what you're saying. As far as, like, you know, I'm not paying attention to it, but actually, if. If that's your guy and you love him, it should piss you off. Like, you should look around, and if any of them are Yankee fans, you should call them out for it. Like, it's. It's. I don't think it's. It's one of these sit back and let it happen things. It's different if it was a rod or someone else. I can't think of some other people. I could use an example. If it's, again, a tick. Share. Guys who weren't really homegrown. Okay. Guys who were brought in, you weren't happy with them. But this is. When you say, it's your guy, this is your guy. You've seen him turn into the best player in the sport. So when a fellow. If it's another. If it's a fan from another team, then you got to get a group together and say, we got to drown them out so our guy is protected. If it's your own, if it's friendly fire, that to me is even more personal. It should bother you. You know what I mean?
C
No, I hear you, Alan. But what he does for us in the regular season is good enough for me. And like I said, I just hope it fuels him to finally get us that championship.
D
Well, that's the part. The chip on the shoulder thing. I'm with you. I do think that something's got to end up. He doesn't seem like he ever gets mad at anything, and maybe this will get him mad. We'll finally see some emotion.
A
But. But last year kind of showed you. I don't think we have a kick coming going into last year because, let's face it, he's been legitimately poor in the postseason, relatively speaking, and not living up to the expectation. But last year he was awesome.
D
Yep.
A
And they still didn't win. So it's not just him, man.
C
Right.
A
But. But. But that's a problem. When does. When does. When. When does.
E
Does.
A
Does it finally get off his back? Like, let's say he has another amazing season, goes to the playoffs, hits.650, and they lose again. Like, eventually, there's the worm going to turn and you. Where you almost feel bad for him because it's like, is this ever going to happen when he wasn't hitting?
D
When does he become the sympathetic figure? Is that what you're saying?
A
But now it's just like. Yeah, when, when. Because I start. You're starting to feel it a little bit. Like people hating Cashman, people hating Boone. And nobody's going to feel sorry for him. He's still on a great team that goes to the playoffs every year. Yeah, but at what point does his bat not be enough? And people start to go, well, maybe, maybe it's not just him. Maybe it's everybody.
E
1-800-919-3776. A lot of people want to talk about this. The Aaron Judge of it all, of course. Baseball season somehow magically starting tomorrow. And again, I haven't checked the weather yet in San Francisco. I just have to guess feeling like what things are like in the world right now that has 42 degrees staring you right in the face.
D
I think in the 60s.
E
Wow.
D
Yeah, I think I checked.
A
I got. Wait a minute. Somebody on the social reached out to us. I want to be able. I want to be able to give them credit. Yeah. Jason B. Diamond says 54 degrees and mostly cloudy in San Francisco tomorrow evening.
E
All right.
A
Or the Yankees game according to the weather app. Okay, so better than, better than here. What did Mark Twain say? Mark Twain said the. The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.
E
That's exactly right. Always right around. Always.
D
Gravity.
E
That's what it. That's what it is here.

Holy cannoli.
A
Is down 52. 48.
D
Oh, no, we can't have.
A
And Maya.
D
Yeah.
A
Is down 59. 41. So we were fantasizing about a great Sweet 16 matchup between our kids, and they're both down here early.
D
They don't want it. That's the problem.
E
No. You know what's bad about here? Can I tell you my give you. Can I make my case? Here's the thing. What? Peter from Griffin.
D
What?
E
Peter at least is like, a great drop, right? That, like, gets a good amount of use on the show.
A
Yeah.
E
So that one battling with Holy Canoli at least makes sense. As funny as the Heyman one is, it's just not a playable drop from New York. I'm not supposed to say that. No, it's okay. We got it.
D
It's okay.
E
Yeah, but we're live right here. It's fun. But the. The mama moment was so organic and real when it happened. It's like an unforgettable moment in show history.
D
I knew what the people wanted. God, they want Paul Heyman.
E
They just want cursing and yelling Don.
D
Yeah.
E
Don Do. Hey, you could read. We could redo the whole bracket. If you just scream for the next five minutes, we can receive the entire. But I do.
A
But I do think. Never mind the fact that we were emotionally attached to these drops, Peter, is. I can live with Griffin because we do use that drop. We hear it quite a bit.
D
Yeah.
A
I was not here for the Hayman drop.
E
Right. And you never hear it.
A
Heard it until drop Mad. I am on this show, and I had not heard the Hayman drop until drop madness. And for it to be a five and for it to make a run, I Think.
D
Oh now you got the face of
A
what Drop Madness is bits in the face now.
E
I want it to win now here. But no, Don, Don, you did hear it. Cuz I remember you hearing it and laughing at it and when you. When you. When we played it back for you
A
maybe after it happened but not as a draw but not as a drop.
E
Not as the drop. Just like a thing that happened. So listen.
D
What Peter, it's.
E
This is why people have to vote. These things aren't, you know, they don't happen in a vacuum. Don, you missed the one seed.
D
You missed the one seed for next year already. Don.
E
Nico, Mike announced on first Take Monday that the deal was all set.
D
Excuse me. Nika Neca Gumaque. There we go.
E
There you go. I only got both names wrong, Don. Just her first and last and last.
D
And you claim to know her sister very well.
E
I do.
D
I know not that well.
E
Been saying her name wrong for years.
D
Can't wait to see Shanae next. Oh I can't wait to.
E
Oh gomike.
D
Oh okumike. Not just oh go.
E
Did I get it right or not?
D
No, let it go. Well St. John's Yukon is mortal enemies, right? They are mortal enemies right now.
E
Mortal enemies.
D
Mortal enemy.
A
Yeah, it's the, it's the. It's the normal words, Alan.
E
Yeah, for me.
A
Forget it.
D
Yeah.
A
But we got 2 hours and 27 minutes to continue to vote.
E
So do the right thing.
A
Do the right thing and sign.
E
Let's go to Joe in Jersey. What's up Joe?
A
Hi Joe.
C
Hey guys. What's going on? How you guys doing?
D
Good.
C
So I had two questions. One I called a couple weeks ago. I was the chili powder and the trail mix guy. I was wondering how you guys food stash has been holding up.
D
We. You know what? I have not purchased anything new for anyone to steal because the schedule has been busy lately so I haven't had to keep things in the cupboard. But I would keep this in mind once we get to the off season and it's more of a regular. A regular thing in the studio.
A
Yeah, Alan and I have been. Have been out of the studio quite a bit.
D
Yeah.
A
But I think once we get to the summertime that we'll definitely test it out.
D
It's definitely going to happen because you know there's some sticky fingers in that studio.
E
We know.
A
Oh for sure, sure. Bad people too.
D
Yeah.
C
So I just want to get to my yankee point. I was listening to the guys this morning and they basically said that Jeter was Jeter because he was on a great team, and he wasn't really a game changer. And I wanted to, like, fully dispute that because, you know, if you had put him on any of these Yankee teams In the last five years, you had a leadoff guy hitting.320, you know, with 20 stolen bases and 20 home runs, I mean, that changes everything for Judge and the people hitting behind him. I mean, how is somebody in this age hitting over.300 not a game changer when everybody's batting.250?
A
Well, I think. Listen, I don't want to get. I don't want to put words in their mouth, but the thing about Jeter is that if he had been a Kansas City Royal his whole career or Pittsburgh Pirate his whole career, he's not Jeter. He wouldn't have won five championships, maybe not even gone to the playoffs, and had the exact same stats he would baseball. You can't just completely lift a team that's undeserving to a championship. But on those teams, one thing you have to admit, the teams that Jeter were on were way better than these Yankee teams. Would you agree?
C
Yeah. Yes, of course.
A
So help. But I do agree that Tim and
C
Volpe, last year, they easily won 100 games.
A
Yeah, of course. Listen, Jeter's numbers, He played like 158 games in the postseason and had All Star numbers. So, yeah, you're 300 clutch hits, he definitely would have lifted the Yankees to higher ground than they have now. But you judge Jeter's greatness on five championships and how clutch he was. Would he have even had the opportunity to be clutch if he was a Pirate or a Royal? And we would have said way back here in New York, not watching those teams go, hey, that Derek Jeter's heck of a player. But we wouldn't have known the intangibles. We wouldn't have known truly the greatness, because he was.
D
He'd have to be in those situations. Yeah, that's what it is. Right? You gotta be in those situations for it to resonate. And I think that's. That's the biggest part of it. But I don't know. I do think, though, and I hate saying it because I know it'll. It sounds dismissive, but Derek Jeter is not Derek Jeter if that Yankee team isn't loaded, right. And winning as much as they want because he's not in a situation.
E
Right.
D
To be like, you're like, we can't rewrite history and act like the team rode his coattails or was on his Shoulders and he had to drag them to these wins. He made clutch plays and clutch moments because he was put in these situations to make those plays because his team was so freaking good.
E
You know what a good Jeter comp is in my opinion? You guys may disagree. I don't hate Jeter and Brady as comps. They're both, you can argue they're both just like obviously Brady people call the absolute goat, but they're both all time greats who from a talent, pure talent standpoint, had they been put on the wrong team, could have had completely different careers.
D
I'm sorry, Tom Brady, I don't think that's wrong.
E
Tom Brady ends up on a random team at that. In that era. Don, we really are talking about a guy who won seven Super Bowls. If he wasn't part of Bill Belichick's Patriots, I don't see it.
A
It's because of Belichick. I think the better way to phrase it, Peter, if Tom Brady had Robert Salas, his coach his entire career, does he win anything? I'm just, I'm just randomly taking a code. I'm not trying to kill Robert Sala. He's not, you know, he's not one of the greatest coaches of all time.
E
No. Marty Schottenheim, anyone?
A
It doesn't matter.
E
Yeah, because.
A
Because the one thing I would never say, those Patriot teams were loaded, especially on the offensive side of the ball, up until they had Randy Moss. And what happened? He gets Randy Moss. He has a perfect regular season, but he never had like, he wasn't stacked like some of those Yankee teams were stacked. I think a really good question though. And you can, guys can answer it. On the other side, let's say Derek Jeter, with the stats that he put up was, was the Yankee shortstop during this era, but your right fielder was just average. Do the Yankees even go to the playoffs? Because remember Judge's numbers? As much as they're not great in the postseason, his historic numbers have helped this team go to the playoffs routinely.
D
Yeah.
A
Without those numbers, this might be a slightly above average baseball team. Occasionally making the A wild card and not competing for the division, in my opinion.
D
And the year that. And the year they didn't make the playoffs, the 82 and 80 year. I believe he missed the majority of the season. Am I right?
A
Yeah, they had tons of injury. Everything kind of fell apart.
D
Well, right, but. But he, like, it's not like he was healthy and the team stunk.
A
Yeah. He wasn't in 60 home runs like Mike Trout and 30 RBIs. Right. Exactly.
D
Again, like that. That that's to me why he and Mike Trout, while some people like, that's why I brought it up before a great player that doesn't really do a lot of winning. That's situational. But we have seen judge in big spots and he has not come through. I think two things can be the same. They can be the same. He can be a great player that gets you there, but he can also be a great player that in a big spot doesn't give you clutch moments like Jeter did. It doesn't mean he can't ever do it. But he hasn't done it other than that one home run against Cleveland two years ago. Give me that moment where he saved the day, right?

Hosts: Don La Greca, Alan Hahn, Peter Rosenberg
Theme: Spring weather, corporate cross-promotion in sports, and (primarily) New York Yankee fans booing Aaron Judge during spring training—a deep dive into fan culture, expectations, and the legacy of modern stars.
The show's first hour weaves through light-hearted banter about weather, complaints about awkward cross-promotions in major sports, and then zeroes in on the surprising and controversial booing of Yankees superstar Aaron Judge by supposed Yankee fans at spring training. The hosts unpack what this says about fan entitlement, legacy, "clutch" performances, and how the expectations for beloved players like Judge reflect broader changes in sports culture.
On Corporate Overload:
“There's not a fan who's going, 'Can you mix the Addams Family with my baseball, please?'” – Peter (05:13)
On Fan Entitlement:
“It's almost like a sub-sport of sports to equally hate or be frustrated and express it. … It's now become a thing.” – Don (09:32)
Defending Judge's Record:
“The last time he wore a Yankee uniform, he batted .500 in the postseason last year.” – Alan (11:16)
Yankee Fans, the ‘Family’ Analogy:
“It's like being in a marriage. Like, I'll criticize my wife and my family, but don't you dare say something.” – Alan (16:55)
Modern versus Classic Fandom:
“Ernie Banks in Chicago—they loved him, right? Cubs never won, but they loved him. Beloved. I don’t know if that could ever happen again…” – Don (21:19)
On Jeter & Legacy:
“Would he have even had the opportunity to be clutch if he was a Pirate or a Royal?” – Alan (49:04)
Caller Vincent, the Hardened Realist:
“It really doesn't bother me that much because I expect him to get booed everywhere. But I hope this is used as some fuel for the fire…” (38:05)
