Here's what happened, folks. A lovely community friend, a parent of a child who's friends with Marco, invited Marco and. And by virtue of Marco, also Don, to go to a Mets game.

Don goes, of course, we'd. Marco loves the Mets. He loves the kid. Lovely dad. Let's go to the game.

Don then agrees to go and mentions to me, his snobbiest friend, hey, you know, I'm going to this game. I think I looked at the tickets in section, like 5, 13, right? And I go, oh, Dom, I. I don't think you could do this. I don't know if you can. I don't know if at this stage in life you are capable of sitting on the face of the sun. You're Don Leggraeca.

Also, to walk up all those steps.

And Alan said to me, close in at 60.

No, but I think it's great for your brain. I also, I also, man of the people, go back. Because I remember what people tell me advice that I was given by Peter years ago, years ago, where he's like, you know what? Don't spoil your kids. Make them sit up. That's right. Every once in a while, let me know what it's like to go out there.

You know, his daughter wears Gucci underwear. So, I mean,

you can't always be behind the dugout, Right. You know, it can't always be behind the bench that sometimes you're going to have to appreciate the game. How much do you really love the game? Think about it. You're in the second to last row of a stadium, watching a team that doesn't. No idea what they're doing. So you must really, really love the game.

But I, in all honesty, Alan, the world would think I would be the one who says, don, you can't do it. It's your brand. That was actually Alan who said, don, you can't do it. My angle was just my. And I'm not saying you're wrong. My angle is simply. I have learned as an adult, as much as I love the game, right. I do not love any of the games, except maybe football, where, like, seats don't really matter. I just don't like going to football games, period. I don't really love any game enough

to sit on the face.

Don't you think it's incumbent upon Don right now. Yeah. To block that guy's number and never take a phone call?

He can't do anything. He scores offense, but he scores points, but he's not efficient. He doesn't. You need to score over 29 points a game if you're gonna be a number one guy. Read it all out to make it seem like it's not the worst deal ever. It's the worst deal ever.

And by the way, just saying from the standpoint of like all the Celtics fans that I know, he's not some player you root for and hold your nose. Celtics fans love him. They have no problem with him. They do. They Fans, sure. Well, listen, I'm not in Southie. Here's what I'm telling. But the people that I know love Jaylen.

Here's why. Because on. On get up a month ago when that this stuff first started to happen, when Brown went on Twitch and started saying things about the season ending and all the problems he had and they were talking about how they probably got to trade this guy, it just looks like, you know, it's heading to the wrong place. And I just said, are you sure? If you got to split them up, are you sure he's the guy you want to trade? That's all I said. I said, because he's healthy, he's won the final mvp.

By himself. He carried this team with a bunch of plumbers and electricians. He did this. And the feedback that I got, that's

And it's a big deal with the red car. Can you give me a little bit more detail? That not only is he out for the next game, which I think was mentioned once, but also I mentioned that they're short a player for the rest of the game, which I didn't find out till the next day. They never mentioned it. All right, I get it.

But if some, some nuance happens, like if they challenge an offside, hey, new, you know, new rule over the last few years is that if the Devils get it wrong, they're going to be shorthanded. I learned sports well, you know, mostly from my dad, but also just watching sports and the announcers educating me on what a safety was in football and what a sacrifice was in baseball when I was young, you know, and that's how you learn. But to have the arrogance of, well, you're supposed to know because it's the world's game and not give some of the nuance to literally half your audience that doesn't know. I think is an absolute.

Well, the disagree part, no. But yes, agree.

I agree with the overall statement of they in this case. You have to realize it with the US Being the host country and the US Playing well, we are absolutely, in every single game seeing millions of viewers who do not consume soccer. So it would be ignorant to pretend as if everybody there even parachutes in every four years. Some of these people have never parachuted in once. The only thing I'll disagree with on your comp is the red card punishment is much more integral to the game than the rule you pointed out. Like goalie interference. Like a red card, you're out of the Game is a fundamental basic of soccer. So you would be saying the equivalent of icing. It just doesn't happen frequently, Alan, and it changes the game completely. So I also agree with you that you just stop and go, wow, the US is going to be short a player for the next 30 minutes. And. And he will miss the next game should they advance.

It's somebody that follows it. I look looking at it as an outsider, but I felt like that's what I was told to expect. Is that how you felt about.

Was insane to yet again watch a US Game where they play this alternate version of what US Soccer has ever been. Are there any die hard US Soccer fans here? Watch always.

Thank you, sir. We found the one. Well, for anyone who's been watching this team going back to at least 94, you are aware that this team, this team looks markedly different. And one of the things that made yesterday unique was. And they talked about this on the broadcast, you're going into a knockout game where the US Is expecting to win. Everyone is expecting them to win. They know that Bosnia sees themselves as an underdog. And then the thing that made it even crazier, guys, is they delivered on that. They played like the better team.

[Michael Kay]

You said it.

[Peter Rosenberg]

They had two goals wiped off the board. They lost Balagun, which is going to be problematic. He's not just app layer. He's one of their best players and he will be missing in their next game, which is a problem. And I do think it was nonsense that it was a red card, particularly when they. They called. Nothing immediately at the time, but whatever. What do I know? Long way of answering, Don. It was incredible. This. This right now is unprecedented. I texted you guys when they scored off that set piece. They do not do that like US Soccer does not get indirect kicks and

score off of it.

That's not a thing that they do.

Yeah, they straight up are scoring, guys, even the goals that came off the board every time they put a ball in the net. It looks awesome. And it like you're like, wow, this is a team that actually plays soccer.

So this is not what we used to see him. Because they aren't, they haven't historically been like a big offensive like juggernaut. No, but they really are like, they're.

[Peter Rosenberg]

And what I'm not because of Pulisic?

[Michael Kay]

Well, no, but, but I mean, he was involved in two though really impressive touring chances. But I feel like what, what also stood out, and this is all based, of course, on everything that was talked about in the broadcast on that night, on last night, but also in past games is defensively, the US Is not exactly, you know, they're not power. Right. They will beat you with their speed and with their offense. I thought when they were down a man, they locked in defensively, like it was really impressive how everybody just bought in and it became a real true team effort.

[Peter Rosenberg]

Well, that, that's the scary thing. When you go down a man with at the time, what was a one goal lead, you go, we have 30 minutes.

[Don La Greca]

I mean, think about.

[Peter Rosenberg]

It's a 30 minute power play. It completely reshapes the game immediately. And even though you're right, you're right, Allen, the US Did a great job. The second you go down a man, you are now on defense for the rest of the game. Flips and the field flips constantly. Now you can end up getting an odd man rush and scoring and they eventually did. But to know that they were really going to be dealing with it the rest of the way and they did it and they win. And now they play Belgium on Monday.

But the point is, is that people are starting to catch it and I think come Monday and Monday from a. For the rest of the country, Monday's usually an off day for baseball. I didn't look to see about the Mets Yankee situation. I assume because they were off today that they will be playing on Monday and that certainly could affect the number in New York. I'd love to be able to find the number in New York with both the Mets and the Yankees off and I'd love to be able to see what the national number was and I would think that that would, that would grow exponentially as we go deeper into this thing. I think people are starting to catch it and it's for real. I just wish that they would cater a little bit more to the audience that's new to the sport.
