Peter Rosenberg
At participating McDonald's for a limited time. A Minecraft movie only in theaters.
Don LaGreca
I'll be licking the television screen. Licking it like it's ice cream.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh. The type of music I listen to would make you cry. And Rosenberg, I expect to be called ball coach.
Don LaGreca
This isn't North Dakota, this is New York.
Peter Rosenberg
This is Don Hyde and Rosenberg on 8 80, ESPN and the ESPN New York app.
Alan Hahn
Is your microphone on my mic?
Don LaGreca
I put it on. I tell you what, it's that day. It's this kind of day today. I don't like it where I just hate everyone and everything and that. And it's just the perfect way to start this show. I hit the mic, it's on, it's shiny blue and nothing's working done.
Peter Rosenberg
Just do me a favor. Just calm down, put your jacket on and relax, all right? Just put your jacket on, warm up a little bit and relax.
Don LaGreca
So last night, do the Rangers pre, like a gentleman, go to put my jacket on to go to the Garden. There's a coat rack right in the middle of our newsroom, whatever, whatever they call it here, you know, wellness center.
Alan Hahn
I would go as far as calling.
Don LaGreca
It a big rack and, yeah, huge rack. And I put the, I put the jacket on there and I go to get it and there's my jacket. I put it on. I'm like, this isn't my jacket. Somebody put on my jacket.
Alan Hahn
Is this three little bears right out.
Don LaGreca
And left their jacket behind. I like, I immediately start smacking my pockets to make sure my key fob. Thank God my key fob was in my front pant pocket, which I've been doing since I had to feed the meter back at the old place because I put the keys in my pocket and I would go outside without the jacket. And then I'm like, oh, mega run back upstairs again. I was like, you know, I'm going to keep it. And that habit has been consistent. Otherwise I would be taking the train home at like midnight last night because I don't have my keys. But thank God I have my keys. I don't know what I had my phone, I had my keys. I don't remember what was in the jacket. So I'm like, okay, well, tomorrow that person will come back with the jacket. They probably don't know whose it is. They left theirs. No Jackets still hang in there, so we don't know who took it. But the jacket they left behind is a money. So I will just make the trade right now. Well, you say it's nine tenths of the law.
Alan Hahn
Will you fit into this army?
Don LaGreca
I got it. I got to check it out. I don't. I don't think so. But I might be able to make it work. It can motivate me to go to the gym more to make it work. Although it might just be because I'm just too tall, But I was just red hot. My jacket's gone. What if my keys were in there, Alan?
Alan Hahn
Well, listen.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, then you would have lost your car, too.
Alan Hahn
Apparently, he would have been taking the old midnight train to Jersey. The great song, the great classic.
Peter Rosenberg
Now the classic remake.
Alan Hahn
Now, listen, Don, you seem upset about the coat. You seem upset about the button not working to start the show.
Don LaGreca
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
If you really want to make yourself feel better, I think what you do is you go on social media and you check out the action figure of you that was made by our social media. Alan. That's got to cheer him up. They went ahead and they made the chat. GPT action figures of all of us have been tweeted out.
Don LaGreca
Great idea.
Alan Hahn
How's that make you feel?
Don LaGreca
I'm not a vain person at all. Okay. But I understand. God did not give me the greatest looks, but I'm trying, man. I'm trying to look better. I think my beard looks tight. I'm very happy with the full beard. I finally got out of it on 1987 Blockbusters clerk. Or like 1985 Milwaukee Brewer baseball player and got rid of the goatee, got the full beard. I'm very happy with. Happy with the hair. I'm working out. They decide to do. And it's a great idea, these action figures.
Alan Hahn
It's fun.
Don LaGreca
And Peters is perfect. I think Allen's is perfect.
Peter Rosenberg
Nope.
Don LaGreca
You might have some problems. They just. They took Repug Don. They took Repug Don but kept them the same. An older rappug Don. As if I'm still Repug. I'm mine. Heinous. And the other thing is, I got the goatee. I have not had a goatee in three years. That jacket that I'm. That is just lazy. So it's not. Listen, I don't. I know I don't look great. I understand that. But I am the senior member at this radio station. Day one, and everybody's pictures up to date. They went and got the best version of them. They went and found repug Don from 2010 and made no effort in mine.
Alan Hahn
Actually. Know what's really bad, Alan?
Don LaGreca
Zero.
Alan Hahn
No, now that I think about it, Alan, here's what's bad.
Don LaGreca
And I got pants. Jean pants that are pleated. Here's who pleats, jeans.
Alan Hahn
Oh, there's a drop here. Here's the thing, Alan. Here's what's bad. The look they have for me is I've only had it for what, the glasses, beard thing. I've been going for, what, a year, tops.
Peter Rosenberg
It's phenomenal.
Alan Hahn
It's brand new, and they got it. Don's had his full beard longer than. I've had this going.
Don LaGreca
They made an effort on yours. All right. And, Allen, it doesn't look exactly like you, but you look great, man. Michael sounds, you know, Michael's tune in tomorrow.
Alan Hahn
Michael's tough. Michael Michaels is tough.
Don LaGreca
I get it. And Dan looks like Ariel Helwani, which is not a bad look. It's just not his look. But none of it's lazy. Mine's lazy. And I think I deserve an effort.
Alan Hahn
I think you do.
Peter Rosenberg
You know what, though, Don? It's probably once we're all together again and people can see us in person. You know, I think that's part of the problem, is we just.
Don LaGreca
They were working on this yesterday, and I was here. If you needed a reminder, come into the studio. I know bosses don't. But you think some of the people that work here would swing by, say hello.
Alan Hahn
Don't.
Don LaGreca
Don, let me get a second glance here. Let's see what you look like before project.
Peter Rosenberg
Like, when this came up, the first thing someone should have said was, well, Don doesn't have a goatee anymore.
Alan Hahn
Hold on. Fix this.
Peter Rosenberg
But instead, it was. That's close. Good enough. They just took a photo that they have of you.
Alan Hahn
I got it.
Peter Rosenberg
And that's it.
Alan Hahn
I got. I'm gonna. I'm gonna write this wrong.
Peter Rosenberg
There's not a lot of effort.
Alan Hahn
No, I'm gonna say I'm gonna write this.
Don LaGreca
I'm just saying I don't swing it.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't even own a gray panel suit. Why would they have me in this? And somebody, by the way, has a very disgusting remark about the lightsaber that they put in the package.
Alan Hahn
Excuse me?
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, you. Yeah, I can't say it on the air, but I know what that was.
Don LaGreca
I wasn't even sure what it was.
Alan Hahn
Han Solo.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, the lightsaber thing. Well, Han Solo goes and use a lightsaber. But the Star Wars. But the point is, don't get. Don't maybe geek out on it. But the point is, is. Is that the response? I want to say so bad I'm hesitating whether or not I should use it as a reply. So anyways, we all have a problem with it. But, Don, I feel terrible for you because it really doesn't look like you. It looks more like Bryan Cranston than it does you.
Don LaGreca
I just. I'm disgusted. Really. I'm just utterly disgusted. The two people that need to be disgusted are me and Michael. Yeah, that's a.
Peter Rosenberg
That's being way too tight. Orange Islander jersey is also not good. He's wearing like a smedium. It's like his. It's like his. His son's jersey that he's wearing in this thing. He would never wear something that.
Don LaGreca
Yeah. Jacket stolen.
Peter Rosenberg
Having a bad day.
Don LaGreca
Respect stolen.
Alan Hahn
That's what happened.
Don LaGreca
It's really. Right now I'm trying to decide what's worse right now. Not having the mic on might be the worst.
Peter Rosenberg
Dignity stolen.
Don LaGreca
I'm gonna file that under not the disrespect.
Peter Rosenberg
Where do we go from here?
Alan Hahn
I'm gonna. I'm gonna get this fixed.
Don LaGreca
I. Give me.
Alan Hahn
Give me till the end of the segment. I got you.
Don LaGreca
I know these guys work their tail off and they. And then predominantly have done a really good job, you know, and probably for very little pay. So I'm not trying to be that guy. Okay, you shouldn't be saying this.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no. This is your name. And like.
Don LaGreca
But this is. This is. That was just lazy. Let's just take a picture with Don when we were back at Tupen, you know, single don repug don. 30 wings a night in front of the TV. Don't smoking cigar Don fun Don.
Alan Hahn
He does sound.
Don LaGreca
I think Peter nailed it. It was rappug. Don't time. If you listen to the show that Peter looks. I was at my absolute worst. He has seen pictures of me basically through my whole life. That period of time from like 07 to 2011. Absolute repugnance. And that's what they chose.
Peter Rosenberg
That's how they feel about you. Don't.
Don LaGreca
How else am I supposed to think? Yeah, I guess I'm just not that important. And then, you know. And K K is gonna be red hot. Tune in at 1 o'clock tomorrow.
Peter Rosenberg
K K, can you give us a little hint?
Don LaGreca
He has three bills in it.
Alan Hahn
No, he. He looks more frumpy. He looks like the. His name should be Frumpy Johnson. He's the frumpiest man I've ever seen.
Don LaGreca
He looks like Jiminy Glick.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, Jiminy.
Don LaGreca
Yeah, the Martin Short character. Remember when he wears the fat suit and interviews people.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh. Oh, right. Oh, my God. That's a long time ago there, But. But they do have tendies, though, in.
Don LaGreca
There, which is nice with undercarriage and flop. It looks.
Peter Rosenberg
He's just wearing a big suit, like. It's like he's wearing a suit from the 90s.
Alan Hahn
No, it's a bad look. Yeah, well, we'll see. I heard he just was unhappy with me as well.
Peter Rosenberg
Apparently he doesn't. He's mad at you now. What'd you do?
Alan Hahn
I. I told the truth about his chicken tenders, I suppose. And he didn't.
Don LaGreca
We all did. Why is he just single and you out?
Alan Hahn
You know what? Why did he always single me out? Who knows?
Don LaGreca
Well, we'll get to all of this.
Peter Rosenberg
There's so much, including buzzers in the background because we've got. I'm here. If you don't already know.
Alan Hahn
This didn't go well. Don, I just made one. It's not good, but.
Peter Rosenberg
You did an AI. You did an AI.
Alan Hahn
I just tried to do one. It came out worse than the last one.
Don LaGreca
Who's the one that's married to Barbra Streisand?
Alan Hahn
Who's married to Barbra Streisand?
Don LaGreca
His son was in Charles Bronson. Not Charles Bronson.
Peter Rosenberg
Charles Bronson.
Don LaGreca
Charles Bronson.
Alan Hahn
Bronson.
Peter Rosenberg
Pinchot Brolin.
Alan Hahn
James Brolin.
Peter Rosenberg
Brolin.
Don LaGreca
Charles Bronson.
Alan Hahn
It was John who said it. The man's only been to a Celine Dion concert.
Don LaGreca
No, but listen. But at least you look handsome. That doesn't look like me. But I look really good. And you put the Doritos in there.
Alan Hahn
Again, that was just me trolling you.
Don LaGreca
It's been a decade.
Alan Hahn
I included. I said, please include a large bag of Doritos.
Don LaGreca
So wait a minute. You just did it now while we were talking? Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Can I say, and I'm afraid the.
Don LaGreca
Apologize for the effort that took you two seconds.
Alan Hahn
Oh, yeah.
Don LaGreca
How is this not fixed now?
Alan Hahn
Because they're probably not listening.
Don LaGreca
Oh, my God. I thought I kind of felt bad. I'm like, these guys make an effort. They don't make a ton of money. And Peter just did it while we were talking about it.
Peter Rosenberg
I showed you how easy it is.
Alan Hahn
But listen, I did a bad job. I just sent it to the group text Alan.
Don LaGreca
But it makes me look bad. James Brolin is a good looking guy.
Alan Hahn
Listen, it's a bad.
Don LaGreca
Right?
Peter Rosenberg
It's like Kris, Kristofferson this is handsome.
Alan Hahn
This is handsome. The one I just did.
Don LaGreca
Yeah, that's A Star Is born. Kris Kristofferson, 1976.
Peter Rosenberg
But gray.
Don LaGreca
But no, but all right, listen, that's the wavy. That's fine.
Peter Rosenberg
Don, you really should go for this look. Now that I think.
Don LaGreca
Well, that's what I'm doing. You see it?
Peter Rosenberg
You're almost there.
Don LaGreca
You're almost there. But it's a work in progress. But no, let's go back to the old repug. Don, when we we had the 1050, what were the tailgaters? The 1050 tailgaters were those, like chicks.
Alan Hahn
Who used to come to our house.
Don LaGreca
It was a different time, Peter.
Alan Hahn
What an error. I missed.
Don LaGreca
But that's how far back we go. Let me tell you. Steve Hart chose them.
Alan Hahn
Oh, really?
Don LaGreca
Yeah. And he had a type.
Alan Hahn
And wait, hold on. You guys telling me Steve Hart had a casting couch?
Peter Rosenberg
That's tremendous.
Alan Hahn
Did that happen? There was a Steve Hart casting couch.
Peter Rosenberg
Real quick, Peter, what is in the top next to the hockey? The blade of the hockey stick. What is that? I can't make that out.
Alan Hahn
It looks like plastic explosives. It looks like he's. It's like about to the Olympic Park. He's about to have some sort of attack.
Don LaGreca
What is it? What. What is that?
Alan Hahn
It looks like rolled up duct tape. I. I asked him for a hockey stick, a headset and a large bag of Doritos. I don't know what the other stuff.
Don LaGreca
It's like a spleen or something.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, it does look like a body part.
Don LaGreca
You know, but I, I. You know what? I will.
Alan Hahn
You'll take it over the other one.
Don LaGreca
I will take that.
Peter Rosenberg
Please post this, because I just did.
Alan Hahn
I just tweeted it.
Peter Rosenberg
I just tweeted John's goal to get you. And you're close. You get this look with the wavy hair. Wait, hold on.
Alan Hahn
By the way, anyone out there, let's have a contest right now. Whoever can make the best Don figure.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I like it.
Alan Hahn
Don, can you repost the one you hate, though? Just say, I hate this one. I want a good one. And let's see who can go on chat GPT and make the best, most realistic Don legreca figure.
Peter Rosenberg
I like it.
Alan Hahn
And see where we can land.
Peter Rosenberg
And see the one that makes Don happy. This one made Don happy.
Don LaGreca
They did. It doesn't look like no we could do better, but it gives me a goal.
Peter Rosenberg
I like it.
Don LaGreca
It's a carrot out there for me to try to achieve. I'll do a few more burpees tomorrow trying to look.
Alan Hahn
There you go.
Don LaGreca
I'm sending it out now. But that Justin Fields. Huh?
Alan Hahn
Nothing.
Peter Rosenberg
How about Alan Lazar taking a pay cut to stay?
Alan Hahn
How about that?
Don LaGreca
That's not nothing.
Alan Hahn
Did. Wait, when afterwards did he fight? Did they tell him, hey, you know, Rogers left and he was like whoops, my bad. Like the.
Peter Rosenberg
Why was Rich rich So many reporting that he thought he was gone. Like he thought this was it, you know, and that he's got a new base salary from 11 million non guaranteed. Of course they restructured it down to 2.25.
Alan Hahn
You know that. Well, listen, that's a, that's a veteran who still wants to play football. Good night. That's not. Listen, you need guys like that.
Peter Rosenberg
And the thing is because remember the 11 million was totally not guaranteed. They guaranteed. Out of the 2.25.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
A whopping 1.755 in base. But he does have some game by game roster bonuses. So the, the thinking is here is this is sort of like you're here for now, but we can, we can dump you at any moment.
Alan Hahn
I like.
Peter Rosenberg
Good, we'll keep you and you'll make.
Alan Hahn
But I like that though. I mean this is, this is a guy who wants to play football and could still contribute.
Don LaGreca
Well, it just also gives you the, the air of this is a place that I want to stay. I like the direction that they're going into. But I brought up Justin Fields. He did speak yesterday.
Peter Rosenberg
Yep.
Don LaGreca
But there's there seems to be this. Well, he's the starter. Well, why wouldn't he be the starter? You went and gave him this contract that. It's an audition. In order to audition, you gotta play. Now if he falls on his face in the exhibition season in the preseason and can the job be taken away by Tyrod Taylor? Sure. But you're giving this guy $20 million a year. 30 of the $40 million in the contract's guaranteed. He is your starting quarterback. I don't know what the rub is. I don't know why people are like surprised. So now they're trying to attach it to. Well, this must mean they're not in on Shador Sanders. Boy, are they going to have egg on their face if Shador Sanders ends up having a great career. If he's drafted after this, after the seventh pick and they decided to sign Justin Fields. Guys, I think they signed Justin Fields because at the time they weren't sure they'd have the option to draft Sanders. Now it looks like. I think he's going to be there for Him. And if they like him, I still pick them. Does Justin Fields, Allen, stop you from drafting Shador Sanders?
Peter Rosenberg
Of course it doesn't. You have no reason. So, I mean, I just. It's because the thing with Justin Fields is while a lot of people were. Are excited about this, you know, Damian Woody said it on. On get up this morning, and we might have it on the page, and if we do, we could play it. But it. I. It struck me because he said it, and I'm like, yeah, this is true. First of all, this is probably his last shot as a starter. He's young, but it's like, you know, it's getting late, early for someone like him. We've seen this around the. You know, this is Marcus Mariota and players like that where you become. Yeah. Let's hear what Damian Woody says here, boys. I think so. I mean, you look at what happened in Chicago, then what happened in Pittsburgh, I think the jets are going to be conscientious about Taylor making this office around him. If it doesn't happen this year, I don't see it happening. And that means the jets will be back in the business of trying to find a quarterback, which we all know is not a great business to be in. So there's a lot of pressure on Fields for his career, but also for the jets because you got to know, if this doesn't work, we're back in this business again. And so if there is a quarterback to be taken and you like him, of course you take him at seven if he's there.
Don LaGreca
And I just. And I. And I know that the conversation always goes back to. Well, as a general manager, Muji has to know what's gonna happen one through six. All right. But you can only know so much. If nobody's telling you anything. You can't take the chance that any of the reports or any of the conversations you've heard are genuine. When we were having the discussion when Justin Field signed, there was legit conversation that both Ward and Sanders could be gone by the time the Giants pick at three. Right. That. That seemed to be what was coming out of at least the combine. And now it looks like it's trending towards that he's going to be there for the jets at 7. The jets couldn't take that chance, so they signed Justin Fields. A young quarterback, but 26 years old. Might even be younger. Just double check.
Alan Hahn
I think he could be 24. Yeah.
Don LaGreca
All right, so 24 years old. Pittsburgh apparently wanted him back. He didn't want to go back 20 Pittsburgh. He didn't want to go back to Pittsburgh because he knows Rodgers is going to sign there and wasn't.
Peter Rosenberg
He wasn't happy though. No. He made it clear in some of the stuff he talked about yesterday he wasn't thrilled with how they handled him.
Don LaGreca
No, but how could you be? Right. But he's the one that left. I think they would have kept Fields and they didn't because I think he wanted out and he wanted this opportunity to sign with the jets. So the jets took it. It's a cap friendly contract. And the one thing I disagree with Damian Woody, I still think this could be a failure on the jets end. Right? Like, what if he's not good? But the general consensus is, well, the jets aren't good. When this contract's up, he'll be 28. He could still maybe find himself somewhere on the right team. But as far as him being perceived to be maybe a franchise quarterback, I think that chip sailed. But I still think he's young enough and with the jets having a history of not being able to develop quarterbacks that he might be able to get a second or third chance someplace else. But the point is, is that I don't look at Fields being the starting quarterback in 2025. Is any kind of proclamation that A, they're going to not draft the quarterback at 7 or B, that he can't have the job taken from him for Tyrod Taylor if he plays awful. So I'm just a little surprised and taken aback by people shocked that he's been named the starting quarterback or the feeling is he's going to be the starting quarterback. I thought that from the second he signed.
Alan Hahn
This isn't. This isn't bringing in some veteran who you know is a holdover. The reason he got a little bit of money, not a lot, Dom, but not nothing, right? The reason he got a better deal than any of the quarterbacks on the Giants got is because he's young enough and has enough ceiling that he's worth taking a shot to see what he could become. Now, the who, I'm sorry, who said this is his last chance again, Damian Woody.
Don LaGreca
Wood.
Alan Hahn
Sorry, our guy, Damian Woody. Respectfully, I love Damian Woody. He's forgotten more about football today than I've known in my whole life. But that's not some sort of big take. This is probably his last real shot at it. I mean, listen, there's always another world in which you become a backup and then you get the job again. But in terms of someone bringing him in an earnest to Hope we think he could take the team. I think this is it.
Don LaGreca
And he falls flat on his face. This is going to be it. I was just talking about is it possible that he could play here two years it not really be anything and it's the jets fault. Not his fault.
Peter Rosenberg
Sure.
Alan Hahn
And then. And that he could then have a Geno thing happen later.
Don LaGreca
Sure. It's out there. But you're right. It's not really going out on a limb to say this is his last chance saloon. It kind of failed in Chicago, Pittsburgh, New York. How many chances you get?
Peter Rosenberg
Right, right, right.
Don LaGreca
But I, I don't look at this as we don't like Sanders or the we. It's more I don't think we thought Sanders would be here. I think it'd be very interesting because I believe Sanders is going to be there at 7 and I don't think he's off the table for the Jets. If the jets don't draft him, guys, it's going to be because they don't like him, not because they have Justin Fields.
Peter Rosenberg
I would be really. Here's the part where the jets fan of me comes in and I now, you know, the anxiety kicks in. They pass on him, he goes somewhere else. Steelers, you know, coincidentally or somewhere else, you know, Saints ends up having a fantastic career, which is what I expect. Again, guys, I know what everybody's saying about him. I've watched enough and I pay attention to a lot of the stuff with the C. I find the whole Sanders thing and Deion very compelling. And so I've paid close attention over the last couple of years. I think he's got the right stuff to be a really good NFL quarterback. Do I think he's got, you know, superstar. You don't know it's all situation. He's not going to blow you away with the measurables. We've already talked about it. But I think he's going to be really good. And what will bother me is if the Fields thing doesn't work. Look, the best case scenario is Justin Fields finds it, becomes the player. But he thought he could be in the, in the NFL and the jets found their franchise quarterback for the whatever it is, the foreseeable future. That's the best case scenario. Then whatever happens with Chador, great, good for him. But if this falls flat and he's still, you know, trouble. Whatever issues he had in Pittsburgh, whatever issues in Chicago, it just still isn't there. It's not hitting and Sanders is somewhere else and he's good, that will. That that will, as a, as a fan, be incredibly frustrating. That is what sets you off as a fan is how do you not know? How do you let that guy pass by when no one, I can't imagine anybody would bat an eye if they take him there and just say, okay, we got two young quarterbacks and we'll see which one becomes our guy. But if they don't, man, and next year you're back in the business again.
Alan Hahn
It could happen.
Peter Rosenberg
Although I will say feel so Jets.
Alan Hahn
I will say there is one thing I wouldn't, I wouldn't love it for Fields, obviously, if they were to go out and draft a quarterback. Now, I understand it's the NFL's. It's the NFL. It's Big Boy pants league, right? Like you got to earn it. But given what Fields is coming from, which in my opinion is a terrible coach in Chicago who bailed on him and was not good, right? Followed by Pittsburgh, in my opinion, kind of getting it wrong and thinking we could really do something with Russell.
Don LaGreca
And it's also where offense is going to die. That's the one thing where I will side with Steeler fans. I still think Tomlin's an amazing coach.
Alan Hahn
No, their offense is.
Don LaGreca
They leave a lot to be desired offensively.
Alan Hahn
They've had special offensive players and still been boring on offense. Right. So I would feel for Fields that he gets to another place, they immediately go get a high profile rookie to sit next. That is a tough spot. But. What?
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, but he's even addressed it. He's like, look, I'm not here to mentor people, but it doesn't mean I'll be a bad teammate and that's fine. It's competition. If there's anybody that could handle it, it's Shador. And, and it also takes the pressure off having to play well. You like, like Zach Wilson. Well, you took him number two. You got to play him, right? You took, you took him seven. He's a top ten. You got to play him, right? No, you don't. And sometimes these guys, they don't. They don't have to play right away. They shouldn't have to play right away. It's what Tom Brady has said enough times for us to start listening. We are rushing these guys sometimes in these situations. And so it would be. I think it would be the best case scenario. And if Fields just plays great, then I'll tell you what, either he becomes a trade ship or Shador does.
Alan Hahn
Let's hit a little game time. Brought to you by Tully Mordue Irish whiskey because when it's game time, it's Tully time. Don LaGreca
Can think of a million things more fun than filing taxes. Taxact is going to name some now. Sitting in traffic folding a fitted bedsheet, listening to your co worker talk about his fantasy team digging a hole. Digging an even larger hole next to that original hole.
Peter Rosenberg
Unfortunately, TaxAct's filing software can't make taxes.
Don LaGreca
Fun, but TaxAct can help you get them done. TaxAct. Let's get them over with.
Peter Rosenberg
Thanks for listening to the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast.
Alan Hahn
I didn't listen to anything you just said.
Peter Rosenberg

Don LaGreca
Today's the day.
Alan Hahn
Don Allen we we talked about it with the guy yesterday. Q Tip called the show and today is 35 years and and and and you would. This would be. Donald be the perfect example. Don, you know the song, right? Turn up louder again for a second. Jacob.
Don LaGreca
Well, I know the original Lou Reed, right?
Alan Hahn
But you know the. Can I kick it? Yes, you can.
Don LaGreca
Yes, yes.
Alan Hahn
It was in a kids movie. I don't know which one, but it was recently reused the way these songs now are getting used in cartoons. And then a whole new generation knows. But, Al, when you were a kid, would you say Bonita was the biggest song off the album?
Peter Rosenberg
Bonita was, was the first song that. And, and actually, I was actually, the first time I heard Q Tip's voice was El Segundo. No, my buddy.
Alan Hahn
Oh, yeah, buddy, of course. But in terms of that album, do you think the biggest song was Benita Applebaum?
Peter Rosenberg
Benita Applebaum, for sure. It's such a good song. It's.
Alan Hahn
That's a. That is a jam. I can't believe he told us that. That album, which came out when he was 19, he'd been working on the ideas of it for, like, since he was 14.
Peter Rosenberg
14. It was just really cool. Talk about talent. And think about a genre that was how old when he, when he was 14, the genre was what, 7, 6 years old?
Alan Hahn
Well, no, he was when. Oh, yeah, exactly. I mean, at least officially. I mean, in terms of a way that, you know, they say the birthday of hip hop 73. I think realistically, in a real way, where lots of people are talking about it, you're getting to the late 70s. And then where you could start thinking about it. Something I'm gonna do, it's in the early 80s.
Don LaGreca
Listen, I don't wanna get too deep, but in my opinion is that once it needed disco to die for it to come alive.
Alan Hahn
You know, it's an interesting take because.
Don LaGreca
I think a lot of people, especially in the industry, probably would lump in any black music into disco at that time, at that particular time in the 70s. So right around 78, 79, that's when disco was, like, breathing its last breath.
Alan Hahn
By the way, respectfully, should have been much earlier. Thanks. Well, by the way. By the way, respectfully and thanks to white people, disco was fantastic. I thought disco was bad because of, like, staying alive, which I enjoy as much as anybody, but, you know, it's cheese ball crap.
Peter Rosenberg
Yep.
Alan Hahn
And then you go back and listen to old Bee Gees, who I don't consider white, and all of the other music that was happening in the early 70s, like the soulful black disco, and you go, wait, this was awesome. And then when, like, pop really got Ahold of disco.
Peter Rosenberg
They were like.
Alan Hahn
They whitewashed it and ruined it to the point that people, like, let disco die.
Peter Rosenberg
Like, is this a crazy. Take that KC and the Sunshine banner. Like Vanilla Ice.
Don LaGreca
I. No, that's not. He. They were pretty good, but they had some good. They had some really good songs.
Peter Rosenberg
But come on, what was.
Alan Hahn
What's the worst. Play that. Play that funk. No, that's. That's a Wild cherry.
Don LaGreca
Right, But Do a little dance. Make a little love.
Peter Rosenberg
No, I'm good.
Alan Hahn
Get down to nine. It's. It's literally become like a beer commercial.
Don LaGreca
Shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, it is pretty bad, but the channel changed.
Don LaGreca
I think he was talented. I think, but I.
Peter Rosenberg
Like, not talented. Villain Ice was talented. It's just.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, but he only. You may have went too far there. Now.
Peter Rosenberg
Now listen to my 5.0. I mean, those are. Those are bars. All right.
Alan Hahn
You know what the funny thing is? Is that because of my age, I knew Ice Eyes Baby before I knew Under Pressure.
Don LaGreca
That's crazy.
Peter Rosenberg
That's about right.
Don LaGreca
And speaking.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. I was 10 to bring it full.
Don LaGreca
Circle because I was just gonna mention this, and I never knew this. I don't know if I was supposed to know it, but I found it out the other day that. Take A Walk on the Wild side, Lou Reed, produced by David Bowie. I did not know that.
Alan Hahn
I did not know that either, but.
Don LaGreca
I think I told you. The Bee Gees documentary.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, I watched it. No, that one I watched.
Don LaGreca
Oh, it just. But. But it just shows you, like. It was just. It was borderline racist. It was like everything that was black music. It's like disco. When they did. When they exploded the albums in Chicago that day, like they were bringing in Al Green albums and passing it off as disco because people didn't know.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don LaGreca
And, you know, and. And I. The Bee Gees, to me, will always be the original Bee Gees. I started a joke. You know, the almost folk music.
Alan Hahn
Oh, really?
Don LaGreca
That's the one that's.
Alan Hahn
I love the Don. I don't even know those songs.
Don LaGreca
You gotta hear those songs.
Alan Hahn
I don't know those songs.
Don LaGreca
You know those songs.
Alan Hahn
I don't know if I do. Like, I really. And I know all of the. All of the. Like, once I started collecting 45s. And we will get back to sports here in a moment. Once I started collecting 457 inch records and I grabbed, you know, love you inside out. Right. Or like the first couple of nights on Broadway, you know, whatever. I was like, oh, my God, the Bee Gees people lied to me. The Bee Gees are awesome. And I started buying every Bee Gees record I'd see. But Don, I really don't know very well the early stuff. You're talking about when they were more. You're saying when they were more like a Beatles knockoff before they kind of found their.
Don LaGreca
They were like, folksy. It's hard. They had their own sound.
Peter Rosenberg
Beatles knockoff is very fair. It sounds like a dis, but it's not.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, I don't mean it in a super bad way, but like, sort of like trying to.
Peter Rosenberg
Trying to pick up where they left off. And I think there was a. A space needed for that and they filled it. And then obviously when disco took over, they had that ability with their voice, their voices, by the way you think about the. How that blended and how they sounded. It really was amazing. Like, it's an amazing sound.
Alan Hahn
I'm a very unique one. Yeah, it's classic.
Peter Rosenberg
But you really need more. Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake in that show that they used to do on snl.
Alan Hahn
Oh, yeah, that's right, the BG show. Although, do I. Do I.
Peter Rosenberg
Do you not remember that?
Alan Hahn
No, I remember it. I just like. I'm just like good on Jimmy Fallon music performances I'm kind of good on.
Peter Rosenberg
Right, well, it wasn't them singing. It was them. It was a talk show of them. Never mind.
Alan Hahn
Sorry. I forgot. I know it existed. I just don't remember.
Peter Rosenberg
Crazy entertaining for me. I don't care if you didn't like it.
Alan Hahn
Thank you. That's fair. You have every right. Do you have. You're right. I don't need to always weigh in.
Don LaGreca
But the document, what was it called again?
Alan Hahn
The Bee Gees. Doc. Yeah, I forget. I don't remember.
Don LaGreca
But because one of those songs be Tomorrow.
Alan Hahn
All right, you can play them for me during the break.
Don LaGreca
No, it's awesome stuff.
Alan Hahn
I believe you started a joke I enjoyed. No, listen, the point is, I enjoyed the Bee Gees, but this all started with you making a great point that in a lot of ways disco had to die for hip hop to truly emerge. Even though disco played a huge part in hip hop.
Don LaGreca
But I bet you when you talk about the highest selling albums of all time, like the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, Gargantch was unbelievable.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, Monster.
Don LaGreca
It's just interesting conversation.
Alan Hahn
That's right.
Don LaGreca
But I do think that once disco died, that allowed hip hop rap to kind of take off on its own.
Alan Hahn
And listen without. Without Blondie and Chic. Good times. I mean, these are the early Foundational records of hip hop.
Don LaGreca
Before you go to the calls though, about with the Justin Fields, the one thing we did not mention about Fields failing. Are the jets ready to fix them? Do they have the infrastructure.
Alan Hahn
That's a great question.
Don LaGreca
To fix them. You were talking about Eber Fluss betrayed him in Chicago. Certainly Pittsburgh, not a great offensive team on their best day. Are the jets ready? They got a neophyte offensive coordinator, defensive minded head coach. Are they going to be able to fix them? Or if they do draft the quarterback, have that quarterback blossom. These are the things you wonder about.
Peter Rosenberg
Of course, because when you ask can the jets fix him? We're used to the jets breaking them. Am I right? That's. We're mostly used to the jets breaking them. We're not.
Don LaGreca
We.
Peter Rosenberg
What was the last time you said boy, the jets really developed that guy Chad Pennington, Maybe. Maybe. Or did Chad Pennington develop himself?
Alan Hahn
That's a good question.
Peter Rosenberg
Of all the. We've been through the. The drafted quarterbacks, you know, never mind the Christian Hackenbergs and the Browning Nagles who just never had.
Don LaGreca
The thing is that if Sam Darnold was drafted by somebody else, let's say if San Francisco drafted him, yeah, maybe we would have saw a lot of last year in him earlier in his career.
Peter Rosenberg
Maybe we don't know.
Don LaGreca
But I still believe that these teams are just as culpable for the failures of these quarterbacks as the quarterback themselves. Never. Maybe Ryan Leaf would have failed no matter where he went, you know, but maybe going to San Diego at that time was what. What crippled him. We'll never know. But Sam Darnold to me, Justin Fields to me looks like a guy that drafted by the right team. Maybe things would have been different.
Alan Hahn
By the way, the NFL Network today opting for a little replay of the old Jaguars Raiders from October of this year just decided to take a knee on a.
Peter Rosenberg
On a Thursday October Jaguars Raiders we're talking about.
Alan Hahn
Oh no, no, it's not. Sorry, it says the Jaguars already. I think I may say that. Oh no. Week 16. Sorry. End of the year. Yeah, Chargers.
Don LaGreca
I'll say that was early in the season. It's a Thursday.
Alan Hahn
This is. This is a nightmare.
Don LaGreca
Let's.
Alan Hahn
This happened earlier today on our. On our air here on 880.
E
If Legreca has something nasty to say about me, maybe he checks himself said, you know what? Michael's a really good friend. I'm not going to say that Peter will say anything for effect. And he goes off on me from a chicken tender account That I didn't start, that I didn't want to do, that I was goaded into doing by Meredith Markovitz, who's a close friend. And it's become a fun thing to do. But I don't need the attention. I mean, really, I'm doing it for the attention. Nah, I really don't need any more attention. Sometimes attention is overrated. He's a bad guy. That's what it comes down to. I'm a big fan of Don, Big fan of Han. Used to be a big fan of Peter. But if he's going to turn on me, I'm going to turn on him.
Don LaGreca
I don't think you said that.
Alan Hahn
I never said that. This is Griffin. Griffin, I know you wanted to weigh in here.
F
Yeah, I tried to. I tried to defend you earlier at the end, but then he said that you said it late in Tuesday's show. But I'm like, you never said that at all. As far as I know, you never attacked him. We were trying to actually team him up with the guy from San Diego yesterday on the show.
Alan Hahn
That's right. I said that.
F
I thought Michael feel like Michael is trying to just attack you because he feels like it. And what he says is he got it from his information from somebody else. And I think these people are trying to just do false information to Michael and he's trying to get at you guys.
Alan Hahn
It's all right.
F
They're causing trouble on these. They're causing trouble when none of this.
Alan Hahn
Ever happens, you know, Griffin, I love you. I appreciate you. And Michael, let's be honest, never cared for you. I always did. You were always family to me. You know, listen, I'm being honest. I mean, Michael, Griffin sounds really upset. No, because Griffin's a friend. Because, Griffin, you're a friend. And we appreciate you choose us.
Don LaGreca
Griff.
Alan Hahn
Well, I think Griff already made his choice. But I never said that about Michael. Now, listen, I made fun of the chicken tender thing. We said he copied it from Portnoy, which he did. We said the fact that he was fraudulent about one of his reviews. Well, he admitted to that himself, which.
Don LaGreca
I thought was a mistake.
Alan Hahn
I never said diverse. He was desperate for attention.
Don LaGreca
That was not said by you. Absolutely not saying that. Alan, you didn't say that.
Peter Rosenberg
No, I don't recall saying that.
Alan Hahn
Let's go. Just remember, let's go to David and Elizabeth.
Don LaGreca
Hey, David, what's going on?
G
Hollywood?
Don LaGreca
Han, Don.
G
Peter, what's the matter with you? You messing with Michael like that, man, I'm messing with you. Man, I. I met all you guys in person. You guys are beautiful people, man. I know he's just busting your chops, and you're probably busting his. If you did say it. I don't know if you did. He didn't. But I just got. I just got three good points. I just want to ask you guys real quick.
Alan Hahn
All right.
G
Okay. For start. For starters, I know we've been talking baseball. Baseball's been taking over Brett Beatty. He's killing me, Don. He's killing me. Like, I can't wait till we get Vientos and McNeil back and, you know, we start hitting. Pitching's been doing pretty well, but Brett Beatty, man, he's killing me. Fellas, every time he comes up the bat, my girl's like, why you keep making noise at the tv? I'm like, because he's up. That's why.
Peter Rosenberg
Wait, wait, wait.
Don LaGreca
What kind of noise?
Peter Rosenberg
Sound like white men can't jump. Billy, you're so smart.
Alan Hahn
Oh, yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Like the way. The way you did her voice, your girlfriend's voice.
Don LaGreca
Oh, my God, she's Puerto Rican.
G
So, yeah, they got.
Alan Hahn
Oh, you were close.
Don LaGreca
There it is.
Alan Hahn
Well, if she. Listen, if she's 1990. If she. If she's 1991, Rosie Perez, God. God bless her.
Don LaGreca
In the conversation that he's not. They're going to have to do something here because, again, it's never really clicked. Awful. Like Vientos. At least he's got what he did last year in the postseason. So you're going to give him a little bit more time, and I'm willing to give Beatty a little bit more time to. The weather's been cold and all that, but this is an audition for him, and he's failing now. Cunha hasn't been great. Vientos hasn't been great. All those options that they had for third when we were talking about the possibility of Vlad Guerrero and Alonzo and all that really haven't panned out yet. But it's starting to feel like guys that he's just not.
Peter Rosenberg
It's not going to happen much. It's 11 strikeouts now and 27 play. And, you know, it's. It's. You just named three guys, and they're all young guys. Is it like. Is it cold weather? I hate the cold weather excuse. But for some, that's an issue. For some, though, when you're striking out 11 out of 27 plate appearances, there's a lot of guessing going on, is there not? I mean, there's. There's things to be concerned with. I thought he was having a good spring training. That was the word. That he was showing something. Trying to win the job is. That's what he was looking to do. But there's. There's no there there right now with him. As you said, Don, that's something you have to watch. And be careful because when you have three young players, you're not going to keep all three. Eventually, one of them is going to emerge as the favorite.
Don LaGreca
I'm looking at some of these. AI the.
Alan Hahn
Oh, anything good?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, did you see the one? There's one that.
Alan Hahn
The one you sent was very troubling.
Don LaGreca
There's one that looks like this. Kind of looks like Ted Leoncis, the owner of the Capitals.
Alan Hahn
It's almost you, but it's not bad.
Don LaGreca
It's almost me. This one.
Alan Hahn
Hold on. That one's not bad.
Don LaGreca
There's one where I kind of look like a football coach. I've got like a ESPN pullover. I like that one. What do you think, Peter?
Alan Hahn
It's better than the original one because that, you know. Although I don't hate the original one.
Don LaGreca
This one's evil. Evil.
Alan Hahn
Oh, that one's evil. Don.
Don LaGreca
Yeah. We got a show. I'm gonna retweet all of these.
Alan Hahn
How about that one? A full beard. You don't want the full. He's very upset about full beard. I mean, I'm sorry.
Don LaGreca
Sorry.
Alan Hahn
It's not a goatee. It's a full beard. You're very happy.
Don LaGreca
It's a little much, but it doesn't really look like me. But all the ones that people have tried, even this one looks like the guy from Parks and Recreation. What's his name?
Alan Hahn
Which guy? From Parks? You mean Nick Offerman?
Don LaGreca
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
Oh, yeah.
Don LaGreca
I'm gonna retweet all these and you tell me what you think.
Alan Hahn
You basically think all of them are better than the ones that were done.
Don LaGreca
Every one of them.
Alan Hahn
That's a unfortunate.
Don LaGreca
I got a pooped in a box and done a better job.
Alan Hahn
Oh, there you go. A lot of drops here before ENN even comes to 4:30.
Peter Rosenberg
Thanks for listening to the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast.
Alan Hahn
I didn't listen to anything you just said.
Peter Rosenberg
Catch the show on demand whenever you want. Just subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts.
Alan Hahn
Michael K. Apparently also, guys, not very happy with his action figure. If anyone's wondering. He just expressed himself on Twitter. Donnie not, please. Seems just as unhappy as you are.
Don LaGreca
Very unhappy. But I think I. I should be more unhappy.
Alan Hahn
No, his is the Worst one.
Don LaGreca
You think so? I don't think so.
Alan Hahn
Oh, my God. I think his is horrifying.
Don LaGreca
Alan. Michael's is bad. I think mine's worse.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes. Really looking for. I'll confirm that if the power ranking the worst. Michael, probably his. Probably. You'd put it second worst. But Don's is the worst by a mile.
Alan Hahn
Why do you think Don's is the worst?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, it's everything that Don said. First of all, he doesn't look like that anymore, facial hair and all that. Second of all, it does look like Repug Don. And as much as we all loved Repug Don, we love this version of Don better. Svelte, fit, happier, energized. That's the guy you want to see.
Don LaGreca
And I have not had a goatee in over three years. Take a picture from years ago. Clearly everybody's picture has been modernized.
Peter Rosenberg
Nobody looks at you. That's what the problem.
Don LaGreca
Why do we have to make an effort on the update?
Alan Hahn
So here, here's the thing. Even though, while. Even though Don's look is not as up to date as it should be, and there is salt and pepper in his goatee, which he no longer sports, he looked good. His hair looks clean. He doesn't look Rapug. Yes, it sort of resembles Rappug Dom, but I'm just saying he doesn't look. I'm surprised you hate this so much. Despise it. Whereas Michaels Michael looks as if he was miniaturized. Like, it's like a cartoon about the Yankee announcer. It's like, honey, I shrunk the Yankee announcer. I mean, he looks like a weird pet like version of Michael K. It's not.
Don LaGreca
He looks like Jiminy Glick.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, he does. But he also looks like a game show host. They made him very game show host looking.
Alan Hahn
But he does have a Yankee baseball, a C assigned, and it looks like chicken tenders and a scorecard. That's pretty good.
Don LaGreca
And he's happy. He looks happy.
Peter Rosenberg
So it's funny. We can update the tenders. We can't update Don's beard.
Alan Hahn
You know what's another good point by Allen? Because, yeah, they seem to be able to get everyone else modern, but with Don, they just have to keep them in the bug era.
Peter Rosenberg
Michael's Instagram account way more memorable than Don's facial hair. Let's, let's just.
Don LaGreca
If we're paying attention, I'm keeping score.
Alan Hahn
You're paying it. He's been. Oh, he's paying attention.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, I know you are. And you should. You have every right to be mad.
Alan Hahn
I understand. I really do. Where do you guys want to go? You want to talk a little?
Peter Rosenberg
Talk to the peeps?
Alan Hahn
A little baseball? How about Colby and Mana Squan? Hey, Colby.
H
Hey, what's up, guys? Before I get to my point, it's exciting for me because it's the first time I've got to talk to Alan when I've called in, because when I called into part in Han a year ago, Grasshopper was covering. So, Alan, good to talk to you finally.
Peter Rosenberg
Likewise.
H
My point is piggybacking off the previous caller. So I'll say this. I'm a David, I'm a Mets fan. I'm a David Sterns truther. I love what he's done with the team. Pitching, love it. And I love the lineup. I don't understand the rationale for rolling out Brett Beatty for a third year in a row when, I mean, every time I hear Brett Beatty hits another home run in triple A and then it never translates on the field. And I get you have to do something with McNeil being hurt, but is there no one better than him? And with the 11 strikeouts, like, that's bad. But these, they're not just strikeouts, they're bad strikeouts. He's looking at pitches right down the middle. And that's, that's kind of my stall. I needed to say, Don, usually you.
Peter Rosenberg
Stick with players like this to see if they'll figure it out, but this does kind of feel like you'll reach that point of, okay, we're done.
Don LaGreca
And I think, I think we're getting close to reaching that.
Peter Rosenberg
I hate to say it, I do hate to say it, but it does.
Don LaGreca
Feel like that this was a first round draft choice. So that's an investment, right? It may not be an investment like a first round pick in the other sports, but it's a first round pick. They're trying to see it through with an investment that they made in the draft. So he is going to get a more of a look than other guys. But hey, that draft was in 2019. It's six years later. It's not like he hasn't been given a chance. He's had almost 600 at bats in Major League Baseball and he's batting.210, you know, so you, you give these draft picks their road, but he's running out of it now.
Alan Hahn
Let's go to Tessa. Hey, Tessa.
I
Hey, guys, how are you? Thanks so much for taking my call. I appreciate it. So I just had two points really quick and then, you know, you can answer like When I hang up. So the first one was to Don, you know, I'm so excited to playoffs about to start for the NHL. I wanted to know. Don, I'm biased, of course. I think the Devils are going to win, but I wanted to know that he actually think that, you know, could the Devils win against Carolina and then what you. Peter. I wanted to say me and my colleagues have been just debating this, like, the past two, three weeks because I can't give them three. I want to give them four. They want to know who are my top three favorite wrestlers of all time. So I never can give three. Peter only can give four. So my top two are 1A, 1B. It's the Undertaker and the Ultimate Warrior. Then number two is Bret Hart, and then number three is the Rock. They keep saying I'm cheating. You have to make a decision. I can't make a decision between Undertaker and Ultimate Word. They both are my absolute favorites. Like, even now when Undertaker just comes out, it's like I feel like. I don't know. I'm getting hot flashes. Like I'm going crazy.
Alan Hahn
I can help you out. Do you want me to be.
I
I want you to help me. Am I being selfish? What I'm saying? No. You have to only have three.
Alan Hahn
I'm going to be. I'm going to be more than I'm going to be. I'm. I'm going to say more than that. Remove. Remove the Ultimate Warrior because it's a bad take. I know taste is taste and. No, listen. No, no, listen.
Don LaGreca
It's.
Alan Hahn
I know taste is taste. And as a kid, you were like, I like him. Believe me. Dipperstein, my dear friend, my manager, who's also on my wrestling podcast, he loves Ultimate Warrior. And I'm like, just do me a favor. Never mention that to a pro wrestler. Because secretly in their head, they go, oh, you don't know what you're talking about. Because he was absolutely horrifying as a pro wrestler.
Don LaGreca
No.
Alan Hahn
So, yeah, by the way.
Peter Rosenberg
It could.
Alan Hahn
Clean things up for you, Tessa. It just makes it easier once, you know, a. I mean, God bless the dead. He was really bad in the ring. He was completely selfish and just only cared about himself. He was a disaster. He was just. Little kids loved him. Little kids loved him because he looked amazing. That's basically it.
I
100%. I loved him. You know how I black out. So when he used to come to the ring and go crazy on the side, like, I used to have the little. Little things dealing from my arms. I had people make it we may need down with the strings like I was crazy.
Alan Hahn
We may need Tessa. Your lines breaking up a bit. We may need Tessa, guys, to post a picture of her with the T ultimate warrior tassels around her arms on the couch as a child. But yeah, no, it's one of those takes that like, you know, I don't know if there's a good sports equivalent. There's certainly music equivalents where, like someone throws out that, oh, you know, I also really love is so and so. And you go.
Don LaGreca
There'S got to be an analogy of somebody that he can't be your favorite. Yeah.
Alan Hahn
I don't know who the all time like favorite Nick or Giant would be. That's. You say that. You go, really? That's what your top one.
Don LaGreca
It'd be odd.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don LaGreca
So listen, we can wait on my devil opinion. I'll give that. How about coming? Because I want to tie some rangers in too, to this, but we're up against it.
Peter Rosenberg

Release Date: April 10, 2025
The episode kicks off with a playful exchange between the hosts, Don LaGreca, Alan Hahn, and Peter Rosenberg, simultaneously navigating a technical hiccup with the microphone. Don humorously remarks on the situation:
Don LaGreca (00:43): "I put it on. I tell you what, it's that day. It's this kind of day today. I don't like it where I just hate everyone and everything and that."
Peter attempts to calm Don down, setting a lighthearted tone for the show.
Don shares an amusing incident from the previous night involving a mistaken jacket swap:
Don LaGreca (01:07): "So last night, do the Rangers pre, like a gentleman, go to put my jacket on to go to the Garden... I put the jacket on there and I go to get it and there's my jacket. I put the on. I'm like, this isn't my jacket."
Alan and Peter join in the laughter, discussing the potential consequences if Don had lost his keys with the jacket. This segment highlights the camaraderie among the hosts and sets the stage for upcoming topics.
Alan introduces the topic of AI-generated action figures of the hosts, which have been circulating on social media. Don expresses his dissatisfaction:
Don LaGreca (03:34): "I'm not a vain person at all. Okay. But I understand. God did not give me the greatest looks... they went and found repug Don from 2010 and made no effort in mine."
The trio critiques the accuracy and effort put into their action figures, especially Don's portrayal as "Repug Don," which he finds outdated and unflattering.
Frustrated with the current designs, Alan proposes a contest for listeners to create better action figures using ChatGPT:
Alan Hahn (13:04): "Whoever can make the best Don figure."
The hosts encourage audience participation, suggesting that improved action figures could motivate Don to enhance his fitness regimen. This light-hearted initiative fosters listener engagement and community involvement.
Don delves into the intricacies of Justin Fields' recent contract with the New York Jets, questioning the rationale behind securing him as the starting quarterback:
Don LaGreca (15:49): "But I was just talking about is it possible that he could play here two years it not really be anything and it's the jets fault. Not his fault."
The conversation explores the pressure on Fields to perform and the Jets' strategic decisions, including the potential impact on Shador Sanders' draft prospects.
Alan adds his perspective on Fields' age and potential:
Alan Hahn (19:41): "This is probably his last real shot at it."
David, a Mets fan, calls in to discuss Brett Beatty's underperformance in baseball and expresses frustration over the lack of progress despite multiple opportunities:
David (44:32): "Every time I hear Brett Beatty hits another home run in triple A and then it never translates on the field."
The hosts agree that the lack of improvement is concerning, emphasizing the need for decisive action from the coaching staff.
The trio transitions to a passionate discussion about the evolution of music genres, particularly the decline of disco paving the way for hip hop's emergence:
Don LaGreca (28:21): "I think a lot of people, especially in the industry, probably would lump in any black music into disco at that time... So right around 78, 79, that's when disco was, like, breathing its last breath."
Alan and Peter expound on how disco's transformation and commercialization impacted its legacy and allowed hip hop to flourish independently. They also touch upon the Bee Gees' transition and contributions to music.
Tessa joins the conversation to discuss her favorite wrestlers, highlighting the Undertaker and the Ultimate Warrior:
Tessa (46:23): "They keep saying I'm cheating. You have to make a decision... I can't make a decision between Undertaker and Ultimate Warrior."
Alan playfully critiques the Ultimate Warrior's wrestling prowess, while Don and Peter empathize with Tessa's dilemma, bridging the conversation back to wrestling fandom.
As the episode winds down, the hosts engage in humorous exchanges about the accuracy of the action figures and tease upcoming segments:
Don LaGreca (42:50): "Why do we have to make an effort on the update?"
Alan and Peter continue to joke about the action figures' designs, reinforcing the show's friendly and humorous atmosphere.
Don LaGreca (00:43): "I tell you what, it's that day. It's this kind of day today. I don't like it where I just hate everyone and everything and that."
Don LaGreca (03:34): "But I understand. God did not give me the greatest looks, but I'm trying, man."
Alan Hahn (13:04): "Whoever can make the best Don figure."
Don LaGreca (15:49): "But I was just talking about is it possible that he could play here two years it not really be anything and it's the jets fault. Not his fault."
Don LaGreca (28:21): "I think a lot of people... probably would lump in any black music into disco at that time."
