Alan Hahn
It's lame. It needs Viagra. And Rosenberg.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm gonna lift my shirt up, take my pants down and shake it all around.
Don La Greca
This is in North Dakota. This is New York.
Alan Hahn
This is Don Han and Rosenberg on 880 ESPN and the ESPN New York app.
Don La Greca
Real one of the big city. Don, Han and Rosenberg hanging out with the little 6:30 today. Then it's Mets baseball, Mets nationals. Looks like it's starting to clear up. But I gotta tell you, man, I got a bad feeling about this summer, don't I? Listen, I didn't, I didn't open an almanac. I didn't. I didn't talk to Danny Beckstrom. But I just have a feeling it's going to be one of those weird summers where it's going to rain a lot. Weekends ruined.
Peter Rosenberg
Really.
Don La Greca
When was the last time we've had like a quality weekend, weather wise? Like last weekend wasn't bad.
Alan Hahn
But we get one day, right?
Don La Greca
Yeah. Usually get like a day, half day.
Alan Hahn
I was in Boston over the weekend, as you guys know.
Peter Rosenberg
All right.
Alan Hahn
Saturday poured and all of them up there were telling me that's 12 straight Saturdays that it rained up in New England.
Peter Rosenberg
That's 12 straight.
Alan Hahn
12 straight Saturdays. So every. And it's a sick like that you can't do anything and think about. It's the spring. Kids have sports in the spring outdoors. And it's raining every Saturday miserable. They were all just pissed that every Saturday, like it's just predictable now. Sundays are nice. Fridays are nice. Saturday rain. 12 straight Saturdays.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm with you, Don. It's not looking good. It's not feeling promising just because like.
Alan Hahn
We'Re gonna have a wet summer is what you're saying.
Don La Greca
Yeah, I just, I. Wet and cold June 10th. It's not even the summer yet.
Alan Hahn
Yep.
Don La Greca
But it's June 10th and I can remember Memorial days. I can remember things that we did In June, where it was like. Like hot, stifling. And we. We've got. We had a couple of days of that. Nothing like too crazy, but like. Just like a lot of rain. Yeah. I'm looking like Father's Day weekend. It's supposed to be.
Alan Hahn
What are we looking at?
Don La Greca
It's like half and half. It's like they show you the sun, but then they also show you rain clouds. Like, they can't even give you 24.
Alan Hahn
Hours here in New York City. Saturday, 80% rain.
Don La Greca
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
80% high of 74.
Peter Rosenberg
That's what they're saying now.
Alan Hahn
74. 75% high of 68.
Peter Rosenberg
That's my first Father's Day, for God's sake.
Don La Greca
No.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, you'll be indoors.
Don La Greca
68 degrees in the middle of June.
Alan Hahn
Bringing in brother.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, this is. This. This is not. Although.
Alan Hahn
Next Wednesday. 84.
Don La Greca
And great, because everybody loves a good Wednesday. Nothing like a hot hump day.
Peter Rosenberg
Give me. Give me that.
Alan Hahn
Only sunny day in between days of rain. This is where we're.
Peter Rosenberg
Isn't Thursday this week good, too?
Don La Greca
Yeah, Thursday's supposed to be nice.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. Next two days, tomorrow as well. A couple of 80 to 80 degree days.
Don La Greca
Nothing like a nice Thursday. Friday's not walking to the train, sitting in the subway, just melting just so you can run home on the weekend and sit in your own filth.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, no. Done.
Don La Greca
65 degrees.
Peter Rosenberg
Thursday, you have a very special day.
Alan Hahn
Marathon.
Peter Rosenberg
It's the Donnie Pucks marathon.
Don La Greca
That's right. You got seven hours. Six.
Peter Rosenberg
Will Don make it? Please.
Alan Hahn
I mean, this is what I live for. One to three.
Peter Rosenberg
He wants 24 hours. He wanted to do 24 hours by himself.
Don La Greca
Yeah. Network wouldn't let me do it. Red hot.
Alan Hahn
I remember that.
Don La Greca
That's the whole reason I had a Comrex at home. They sent me home saying, you're gonna do 20. It was gonna be 24 hours of Don. And I'm like, oh, cool, Don. But you'll just. You'll just be a guest on Mike and Mike. You'll just be a guest on Colin Cow. You can't blow out the network. We can't blow out the network shows. I was like, good, good. I'm not ready. One, two, three.
Alan Hahn
Let's be good.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don La Greca
Because I thought, you know, 24 straight hours, maybe get Guinness involved. I don't know.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, make it a thing. There's a guy. Cause God forbid there'd be a news story about a local radio personality. And what year was this?
Don La Greca
10Th anniversary. So it was 2011.
Peter Rosenberg
So to be honest, still fighting for place in the market in 2011.
Don La Greca
Well, think of all the network programming we had. Our morning show was network. Our midday show was network.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, he mentioned Coward.
Peter Rosenberg
This is br. These are the BR days. PR. Different era. Before Rosenberg. Things change. You know what I mean?
Don La Greca
Wait a minute.
Peter Rosenberg
These are the early days.
Don La Greca
I'm going to take a time out.
Alan Hahn
All right.
Don La Greca
Things did change for the better when Peter got here, but things were in motion before then. We're going same with.
Peter Rosenberg
But same with bc. I mean, I'm sure there were good things happening in bc, but the bottom line is C is the one who. There's the line of delineation. I'm not saying I did everything. I'm just saying things were different after I got here.
Don La Greca
Going to FM was. Was.
Peter Rosenberg
That's a big one.
Don La Greca
I mean, you're in the book. Thank you. Seem like his face is on the COVID of the book.
Peter Rosenberg
No, it's a face on the COVID now. But my point was. Oh, really? At face interest.
Don La Greca
Interesting. So if they did the. Those guys have all the fun ESPN book.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
Where they had on ESPN New York.
Peter Rosenberg
We don't have that many people here, Don. If I don't make the COVID But.
Don La Greca
I'm saying if you had to put the four faces. Because I think they had four faces on that book. I mean, I know Linda Cohen was one. Dan Patrick. I have to look at. Look it up, guys and see who. Who were the faces on. Those guys have all the fun. So if they did those guys have all the fun too, about ESPN New York? Well, why not? The book is. Book is going to have some delicious stuff.
Anthony
Who are.
Don La Greca
If we went with four faces.
Peter Rosenberg
Right.
Don La Greca
Who were the four faces?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, it depends on the book. What's the book about, though?
Don La Greca
The book is about three of ESPN New York.
Alan Hahn
It's not four faces.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay, go ahead.
Alan Hahn
It's four letters with a whole bunch of face.
Don La Greca
See how many.
Peter Rosenberg
Thank you.
Alan Hahn
Alot of face. 1, 2, 3, 4. Although there's athletes included here.
Don La Greca
Yeah. So how many ESPN personalities on the.
Alan Hahn
COVID Let's see, there's Patrick. Is that Herbie?
Don La Greca
Yeah. Bob Lee.
Alan Hahn
Help me. Bob Lee the Great. And Robin Robert. Yeah.
Don La Greca
So there's like five.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. Boomer.
Don La Greca
A boom.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, a boomer in there.
Alan Hahn
Oh, wow.
Don La Greca
Oh, vital.
Alan Hahn
Of course.
Don La Greca
But they have like Jeff Gordon and Serena Williams.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, Serena was a big part.
Peter Rosenberg
She did a lot. Simmons made the COVID Bill Simmons?
Don La Greca
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, in the early days of dotcom. He's a huge part of that.
Don La Greca
So I think Will, based on that.
Peter Rosenberg
I'M in good shape. Well, it depends what the book. My point would be is it depends what the book's about.
Alan Hahn
Aaron Andrews.
Peter Rosenberg
We've shifted the subject though. The point was going back to when Don wanted to do the marathon. It was an era in which the station was very much still trying to get attention in the market.
Don La Greca
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
So people for a second could forget about Mike and Chris and understand there was another radio station. A 24 hour marathon of one man, the first voice on the stage. That's something that's let's be great, but we're a let's be good kind of place.
Don La Greca
My idea was I was gonna attach it to a charity and then get all the professional teams in New York involved so that they can get me some like big guests during it. So I go, who's gonna listen to Don falling asleep at 2 o' clock in the morning? Well, if I, if I have no, you know, you know, Eli Manning on talking about something at 2:00am@ 2:00am yeah. Now listen again.
Peter Rosenberg
What's your Snapchat?
Don La Greca
Let's be good.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, we. That's, that's, that's what.
Don La Greca
And even then it was like.
Alan Hahn
And, and sponsor opportunities through the roof though. If you think about coffee brands, if you think about Red Bull.
Peter Rosenberg
No Dos.
Alan Hahn
If, you know, water beds.
Peter Rosenberg
What did you say? Waterbeds? Sure.
Alan Hahn
Just throw it in there.
Don La Greca
I think people make their decisions on whether they want to sleep on water in the middle of the night.
Peter Rosenberg
The waterbed. A time and place.
Alan Hahn
Have you ever slept on a water bed?
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, sure I have.
Alan Hahn
You have?
Peter Rosenberg
Oh yeah. My aunt and uncle and my cousins for my whole childhood only all had waterbeds.
Don La Greca
Gorgeous.
Alan Hahn
And had that sleep.
Peter Rosenberg
I enjoyed it. When I was there. I would enjoy it.
Alan Hahn
You like? So you've.
Don La Greca
I would not want to commit to that. It's almost like having a mirror on the ceiling. Like there's a certain lifestyle that I just don't feel comfortable saying that I'm involved in.
Alan Hahn
Feel like every night's a soundtrack.
Don La Greca
But to sleep on the water bed's great. To make that full time commitment, though.
Peter Rosenberg
It'S funny, I almost feel like the waterbed works opposite of the way that mirror on the ceiling works.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Cause it's such an uncomfortable. You need the stability of a mattress.
Alan Hahn
Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
That waterbed. You're not getting it. But it does.
Alan Hahn
You gotta get a wave going and then you gotta ride the wave.
Don La Greca
It does suggest a certain lifestyle.
Peter Rosenberg
It does, but it's not. But it's real.
Don La Greca
I gotta smoke it.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, it's really a commitment to sleeping, if anything. By the way, speaking of all the other great talents on this show, I'm told that the rankings that we did of looks on the station have affected other people in the radio station and.
Don La Greca
To the point where, I don't know, for whatever reason you're getting attacked.
Peter Rosenberg
Apparently I am.
Don La Greca
This is my list.
Peter Rosenberg
Apparently I'm the only one being attacked and apparently from what I'm told it's bad.
Alan Hahn
That's on Brand.
Don La Greca
There was something Dave said that might be one of if the. The most outrageous thing said in the history of this radio.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, about me?
Don La Greca
About you.
Peter Rosenberg
You can't hide this. I've been waiting for.
Don La Greca
No, no, no.
Alan Hahn
History of the station. The most outrageous things said.
Don La Greca
We're gonna do it at 4. I don't think we should wait until 6.
Peter Rosenberg
Thank you.
Don La Greca
Because it is right up. Anthony, am I exaggerating at all? Listen, it's certainly debatable but when we heard it it was like, my God, it was hilarious and it was completely offensive.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, it's not good.
Don La Greca
It's not good. It's funny, but it's not good. It's worse than anything Dave Rick has ever text.
Peter Rosenberg
It's wor.
Don La Greca
I mean, as far as like what could be aired.
Peter Rosenberg
I have to wait now?
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Until 4:00.
Don La Greca
Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
And the tease that I am waiting on is that in a public space someone considered a friend has said the worst thing about me that could ever be said.
Don La Greca
You know what, you're right. We could do the conversation at 4 but to make you wait and then somebody's probably gonna send it to you anyway on social media so you're gonna find out about it anyway. I'd rather play it for you now. Anthony, I need your help here. The second cut. I'm scared from dnr. Dave attacks Peter, cut all my trash.
Peter Rosenberg
Gonna take grass out, gonna take Kay.
Alan Hahn
Out because they're on their own.
Don La Greca
So us, Bart and Carlin DHR marrying.
Peter Rosenberg
Most attractive because Bart's a good looking guy.
Don La Greca
Barry great shape.
Peter Rosenberg
Alan's a good looking guy. I'll trash Barton Carlin, I'll cuddle the.
Don La Greca
Afternoon show and I'll marry us. Yeah, I think that's right.
Peter Rosenberg
I'll do the same.
Don La Greca
I mean, here's the thing. I mean it's not like Don is George Clooney. Don at best is what I am physically at best on a good day.
Peter Rosenberg
And Peter looks like there's a chance.
Don La Greca
That his parents are related.
Peter Rosenberg
So no, I think the obvious answer has why, What?
Alan Hahn
How long Were you holding on to.
Peter Rosenberg
That at least like some kind of a distant cousin?
Alan Hahn
I don't want to be too truthful.
Peter Rosenberg
Because it's a very sensitive show. And you finish it off with Peter. Looks like his parents might be related. Is that wrong?
Don La Greca
It might be the most offensive thing you've ever said. Oh, my goodness.
Peter Rosenberg
I didn't start this.
Alan Hahn
I think it's.
Don La Greca
It's right up there with maybe the worst thing ever said to someone on this air. Your thoughts.
Peter Rosenberg
What do you. What do you say about something like that? It's offensive to so many.
Alan Hahn
Well, because first you say you can confirm a deny. Let's start.
Don La Greca
Well, wait a minute. I think we all know that that's.
Alan Hahn
Well, let's just make sure it's on the record.
Peter Rosenberg
He. He almost said it. The fact that a Rick said you've been holding on to that.
Alan Hahn
Oh, that's clearly.
Peter Rosenberg
But that means that's something that he. He thinks that is too good for.
Don La Greca
It to just spontaneously come into the streets.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, Dave's very funny, but that's. That, that's. He's not that funny. So you're saying he's been sitting.
Don La Greca
That's a Your mama joke. I mean, and then he throws your dad in that your parents are related.
Peter Rosenberg
So not only that makes me feel like I'm off. There's something that's off about me. You think there's anything off about me?
Don La Greca
I don't think there's anything. And I don't think he's going that deep. But I would think that it's attacking your appearance.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, that's for sure.
Don La Greca
And it's attacking your parents, your family.
Alan Hahn
You're going. That's when you go low. That's a silver bullet that he had and he decided to put it in the face.
Don La Greca
There has to be a response. Now, you could take your time. Four o' clock, maybe. That gives you a good 48 minutes to respond.
Alan Hahn
Gives you a chance to hold on.
Don La Greca
There's got to be a retort there somewhere.
Peter Rosenberg
In some ways, I expected it to be like, better slash worse. Even though it was very funny. I mean, it made me chuckled. The delivery was very good. There's no question about it. But I feel bad. I honestly, I feel bad. I don't want to say. I don't want to feel. I feel bad.
Alan Hahn
I don't want you to feel bad.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, no. I feel bad for him.
Alan Hahn
Oh, yeah.
Don La Greca
Because the response is going to be gargantuan.
Peter Rosenberg
No, you know what the response is? The response is when I go Home and look in the mirror. He has to live with the fact that when he takes his shirt off, that's him.
Don La Greca
And then honestly, I mean, I know I've gone to work, you know, I'm better built than Dave.
Peter Rosenberg
Not even close. It's not even close.
Don La Greca
Thank you. I hope you're fighting with me.
Peter Rosenberg
It's not even. I mean, not even close to Dave. Wouldn't that be a twist?
Alan Hahn
I mean, he just keeps saying it's not even close.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Without giving an answer. No, not even close. What did he say? He said you and you, you guys are the same.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, but. Yeah, but he said on a, on a. On the. My best day or on his best.
Peter Rosenberg
Day, he said, don's no Clooney. And they're basically the same. Some version of that.
Don La Greca
On my best.
Peter Rosenberg
First of all, you're in definitively better shape than him now and you're a handful of years older than Dave.
Don La Greca
Yeah, I think. What is he, 52? 51, something like that. So, yeah, I'm about five.
Alan Hahn
He's around my age. We're about the same.
Don La Greca
And I guess Kate took exception that I said he's 64. Like 64 year old people can be good looking. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that it's tough though.
Peter Rosenberg
It's.
Don La Greca
I mean is that you've got. Listen, you've got a donut on the back. You're 64. Right? So you're not, you're not coming with all guns blazing at 6 or me with 57. It's going to affect the.
Peter Rosenberg
You know. And then, and then I heard Carlin was just as bad to me.
Don La Greca
Look. Oh, Carlin went after you.
Peter Rosenberg
That's what I'm told.
Alan Hahn
What do we got?
Don La Greca
Oh, there it is. This is Martin. Carlin reacts to the rankings.
Alan Hahn
We know Allen's a zaddy, right, but if we gonna do it, we gotta, we gotta include everything. We gotta go with height, we gotta go with body. You gotta pull that shirt off, Petey.
Peter Rosenberg
Here's the thing. I know what I am and.
Don La Greca
No, it's okay.
Peter Rosenberg
But that's when we're talking about self awareness. Earlier we got a little lack of self awareness going on here.
Don La Greca
You throw in the glass house.
Peter Rosenberg
Pedro, let's be clear. You're a mini me of me and you know that.
Don La Greca
You know that.
Alan Hahn
You know what I'm saying? I don't know.
Don La Greca
I don't know. I don't know.
Alan Hahn
Sometimes you can get. Get gassed up.
Peter Rosenberg
I know you can. Listen, we all acknowledge that Han Is.
Alan Hahn
You know, he's a daddy.
Don La Greca
He's a striking looking man.
Peter Rosenberg
Here's what I don't love. If I made any comment about Han, like, I don't know, what number, shade of black are we using to color our hair? That might not be met with the most enthusiasm, but I hear this tone in Han's voice. Let's go to Chris, Carlin, and Bart. What. What is.
Alan Hahn
Why are we doing.
Peter Rosenberg
What is. Chris, don't do this. Don't do this.
Alan Hahn
He was trying not to fall for the.
Don La Greca
For the Peter setup because Peter. Yo, this is.
Peter Rosenberg
No, what he was saying.
Don La Greca
This is Peter's bit.
Peter Rosenberg
No, what he was saying there. That's this. You know, we.
Alan Hahn
We're.
Peter Rosenberg
We're going to give Chunky a two.
Don La Greca
You know.
Peter Rosenberg
You know that's coming. So tell me this. So why are you doing this?
Don La Greca
Well, I'm just curious.
Peter Rosenberg
A meter's been attacked.
Don La Greca
Allen gets attacked. It was my. I'm the one that did the grading.
Peter Rosenberg
You gave that.
Don La Greca
This was my bit.
Peter Rosenberg
You gave. That's how beloved you are and just also how feared and gutless people are.
Don La Greca
You know, I don't.
Alan Hahn
You got compared to Clooney by two different shows today.
Don La Greca
Two different shows. They also said he's not clown. And I know Michael took exception to me grading Chris as a three. I tried to be as honest as possible.
Peter Rosenberg
Maybe I.
Don La Greca
All right. And then Michael's defense was, well, Carlin is a delightful guy. Well, how is that defending his looks? Isn't that like the classical she's got a nice personality?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, no. Well, keep in mind, this is the same guy who will tell you the things he has in common with Rick is that they both love their family. It's a generic thing to say. I mean, oh, yeah, we know Rick's a delightful. I mean, Chris is a delightful guy. We're ranking. If we were ranking personalities, whole different list.
Don La Greca
I just wanted to have fun with it, and I wanted to try to make it as realistic as possible. So if I offended anybody, I'm sorry, but kill me.
Alan Hahn
No, you're not.
Don La Greca
Don't kill Peter.
Alan Hahn
You're not sorry.
Don La Greca
Well, no, I really don't. I'm not supposed to be sorry. You were being said.
Alan Hahn
Don't apologize for the radio.
Peter Rosenberg
It was fun.
Alan Hahn
You offered your opinion.
Don La Greca
I don't know why everybody's attacking Peter.
Peter Rosenberg
It's just. It is easy. It is, but why is it easy?
Alan Hahn
Because you're the bunny that gets batted around. That's just how it works.
Don La Greca
But I don't think he wants to be the bunny.
Alan Hahn
I know he doesn't want to be the bunny. I don't want him to be the bunny.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm just trying to find a picture bunny. I just want to. I'm just trying to find a picture.
Alan Hahn
A picture of myself. Okay.
Peter Rosenberg
I want to show it.
Alan Hahn
I'm just trying to have any.
Peter Rosenberg
I do.
Alan Hahn
Why did you take it?
Peter Rosenberg
So I'm trying to think. I'm going to specific. I want to. I want a nice photo.
Alan Hahn
All right.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm not going to set myself up here and be a fool.
Alan Hahn
Okay.
Don La Greca
You've come a long way since you joined the station.
Peter Rosenberg
Absolutely. There's no question about it. But like for example, Don, you were at. You had the pleasure. And Alan, unfortunately we weren't close yet. So you weren't at my wedding.
Alan Hahn
I didn't get invited.
Peter Rosenberg
No, that's what I meant when I said. When I said you weren't there. You weren't there because you weren't invited. Right Now I wish. It's a mistake. And I wish we'd known each other this way.
Alan Hahn
I would have sent a gift. Probably wouldn't have made it.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, you would have missed a great time.
Alan Hahn
I've.
Peter Rosenberg
No, I've heard one of the great weddings. But Don, you were there at my wedding day.
Don La Greca
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
You saw me standing there in my black tux.
Don La Greca
Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm just being completely honest. I'm not trying to say I'm the best looking guy at the radio station, but look at me and level with me here. You saw me standing there. Truth be told, has there been a day in the lives of Chris Carlin or Dave Rothenberg where they were as attractive as I was at my wedding? Just be honest.
Don La Greca
Not having to gone to either of their weddings.
Peter Rosenberg
But what would you guess?
Don La Greca
I would guess that didn't look anywhere close to you. You were fantastic.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm just. I can pull it together. Okay.
Alan Hahn
Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm not saying I'm the best in the world, but to say the things the, the. For Carlin to call me a mini him, it's.
Don La Greca
Which one hurt more?
Peter Rosenberg
Dave's hurt more. Dave's hurt more. Well, because included family includes family. And it's the fact that he's thought about it before. You know what I mean? He thinks there's something going on.
Don La Greca
So something must have happened in the past where he, he, he loaded that gun, that bullet.
Peter Rosenberg
It's. He's just. He's a terrible person. And worse than terrible, he's gutless. Because you were the one who really, if you go into it. I said, I tried to defend him.
Don La Greca
You did.
Peter Rosenberg
And I said, how do you have Dave below Michael? I thought Dave didn't belong below Michael. And yet the only one who gets attacked is me. It's very telling, very directed.
Don La Greca
The gun at you.
Peter Rosenberg
And we're both. He's a Rothenberg, I'm a Rosenberg. Self hates the worst. Hate Dave.
Alan Hahn
You are not the only one that got attacked.
Peter Rosenberg
Go ahead.
Alan Hahn
I caught a stray there from Carlin.
Peter Rosenberg
What was the stray?
Alan Hahn
As if I had some kind of a. Don't do that. Like, you know. Can I just be on record? I love you guys. I find this whole thing to be weird.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. You know what, though?
Don La Greca
But it's fine. It was just stupid.
Peter Rosenberg
We're having a good time.
Don La Greca
Just having a good time.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, but that's.
Don La Greca
It's this time slot. Did a lot of analyzing.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay, here's a good shot. Good shot of me and Laura from the wedding show. Alan, he wasn't there. Come on. You just. That's not a professional photo. That's just someone's iPhone. But you're. Come on. You're really telling me Dave and Carlin have been there?
Alan Hahn
It's fantastic.
Don La Greca
But I wasn't judging people on their best day. I'm judging people on their average. Well, on their average day, that's your best day.
Peter Rosenberg
But on the. On the average day.
Alan Hahn
I thought he said on his best day. Or is that about you?
Don La Greca
That was about me.
Alan Hahn
Oh, that's right.
Don La Greca
Then on my best day, I'm even body wise with Dave.
Peter Rosenberg
But listen, that's. That's just the same.
Don La Greca
That's what happens.
Peter Rosenberg
Does Dave mean post starvation? Because when he finishes one of his starvations that lasts about a month, he.
Don La Greca
Gets kids pretty well. He needs one of his kids to have a bar mitzvah.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. The thing is, he's out of bar mitzvahs now.
Don La Greca
I think he's out of bar mitzvah. He would have to have. I don't know what his wedding anniversary is. He would have to have, like, again.
Peter Rosenberg
I blame Sherry for everything. She's enabled all of this behavior. If he never had a wife this lovely, he would know. He has no business. Michael tricked this poor woman a long time ago.
Don La Greca
Well, listen, she's an enabler. So she doesn't get any flowers because. Because she.
Peter Rosenberg
She should have left ears.
Don La Greca
She signs on this behavior.
Alan Hahn
Sympathy.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. He's throwing equipment out the window because.
Don La Greca
Michael's defense was like, how can you get after Dave? Look how beautiful Sherry is. That's a given. All Right.
Peter Rosenberg
Women make bad choices all the time.
Don La Greca
No, it's not. Women don't rank beauty or that as high as men do. Dave is a tremendously funny guy. He's a talented guy. There's a lot of things that make him attractive beyond looks like.
Peter Rosenberg
But he is a lunatic.
Don La Greca
And that's why I call her an enabler. Because she doesn't put a stop to this. You real Nancy. If I. If I threw the DVD of our.
Peter Rosenberg
Wedding, he broke it.
Don La Greca
Broke it in the driveway.
Peter Rosenberg
But why would you choose that?
Don La Greca
She's gone like that. She's not sticking around. If I just dumped dressing on her computer, she's out the door.
Peter Rosenberg
But these are things that. Why would. Of all the things to do when you're angry, why would you go to the DVD of your wedding? Why would that even cross your mind?
Don La Greca
God tells you something. Unless it just happened to be in your hand. Like you're about to watch it. Like the giants just matter.
Peter Rosenberg
You want to see the matter? That's what we're talking about here. He's a sick, sick person.
Alan Hahn
All of it is not relatable. It's hard to fathom and hard to understand. And it just makes him unique.
Don La Greca
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
And the rest of it to me is just, like I said, this uncomfortable.
Don La Greca
Listen.
Alan Hahn
Very bizarre.
Don La Greca
Sometimes good radio is bizarre.
Alan Hahn
I'm not saying we shouldn't do it. I'm just telling you, like for me, I don't really spend a lot of time analyzing. Is that what you said?
Peter Rosenberg
I did before I got here.
Alan Hahn
I'm not big.
Don La Greca
It's uncomfortable.
Peter Rosenberg
You work with Michael for a long time, you start to think all he talks about is how attractive people are.
Don La Greca
But we couldn't have Tom Forducci on with him having at least 30 seconds about how gorgeous the guy is.
Peter Rosenberg
His whole friendship with Rick, everything was about looks. So it's been beaten into us. We're scarred, we're traumatized.
Alan Hahn
Where does that come. What's the origin of it?
Peter Rosenberg
Honestly, it's that I think Michael, he's always even score. I think. No, I think he is. What was the. What was. When he called himself a gargoyle, what was the phrasing he used?
Don La Greca
Fat, bloated gargoyle.
Peter Rosenberg
Fat, bloated gargoyle. I think that Michael. There's a drop of it. I think Michael thinks of himself that way. I look like a fat, bloated gargoyle. So as a result of that, I think he has great admiration. His gifts for the good looking. So someone who's really good looking. I relate to this because my father is this way. Not that he thinks so badly of himself, but he really admires attractive people as if they did something to earn it. I think Michael's like that and I.
Don La Greca
Never understood the friendship he has with Rick. I've never gotten it because they don't have anything in common other than both being rich. They love their families and he talks. But I think a lot of it has to do with Brooks attractiveness. I don't think they'd be that close if he looked like Chico Resch. Just a guess.
Alan Hahn
Why did Chico Resch catch it?
Peter Rosenberg
I'm gonna look up Chico Reschedule.
Don La Greca
Look up Chico Resch while you do that.
Peter Rosenberg

Yeah.
Alan Hahn
What?
Peter Rosenberg
Wow.
Don La Greca
Never mind. When to start. Started in 99. We're already crazy, you know, 26 years from when.
Peter Rosenberg
That's.
Alan Hahn
I just can't. Here's another thing. When it comes to the time thing. I know.
Peter Rosenberg
90S. Anthony, long time.
Alan Hahn
Ready, Anthony? Ready. Ready. If you're born in 2004, you're now old enough to drink.
Peter Rosenberg
That's right.
Alan Hahn
Then that make you like, think about that just for a second.
Peter Rosenberg
2004.
Alan Hahn
Just let that marinate. Just for a second.
Peter Rosenberg
2004.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. Yeah. It's crazy. No. That doesn't make you just go.
Peter Rosenberg
No. They're all.
Don La Greca
What I'm thinking is, is I. I've been at the station for three years. By 2004.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, well, in 2004 I was around that period I was working in. I was doing some childcare after school care.
Alan Hahn
Really?
Peter Rosenberg
Oh yeah. That was like one of my part time when I was still hustling. Yeah, I was DJing at night and I would do aftercare two to six.
Alan Hahn
Every day during the day.
Peter Rosenberg
All Saints All Day was the name of the program. We were playing dodgeball, playing basketball. It was fun and I did that for a couple years. Recently a friend of mine who works in radio actually reached out to me and said, do you remember Bianca? So and so. And she said her name and I was like, yeah, that name is familiar. And she said, yes, she works in sales here. She was in my aftercare program. She was a child of my aftercare program.
Don La Greca
No, it's.
Alan Hahn
Anyways, it's crazy. I just found that to be like.
Peter Rosenberg
Time, strike, Anthony time. We find it crazy.
Alan Hahn
It is crazy wild because we're old. You'll see, you'll understand.
Peter Rosenberg
Can't wait. Can't wait for you to feel old.
Alan Hahn
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
By the way, last night, if anyone's wondering, back to back nights now with Maya going full exorcist.
Alan Hahn
Oh, projectile, projectile.
Peter Rosenberg
Two nights of the Nation. She's fakers out the nose too.
Alan Hahn
Though. Means she's strong.
Peter Rosenberg
She'S not sick. She showed no fever. Not acting off in any way. I feel like we're just overfeeding her at night. We need to like just change up the way we're doing things a bit.
Alan Hahn
Way too much.
Peter Rosenberg
It's not fun when it happens.
Don La Greca
We're trying to figure out exactly when the Knicks will have a head coach. Lot being discussed.
Alan Hahn
Like smoke billows out of the.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, they do it that way.
Don La Greca
It's a big deal because, you know, shows like get up that Allen's on, they're doing a lot of talk about the NBA and very little about the finals. And so obviously Jason Kidd is coming up in conversation. Here's Brian Windhorst on Get up on the Knicks and kid, the Knicks absolutely.
Anthony
Would like to hire Jason Kidd to be their next head coach. The question is, will the Dallas Mavericks allow them? And that's really where this is. It will be in the Mavericks court here. The asking of permission is a formality. If the Mavericks would agree to send Jason Kidd to the Knicks, I believe he would be with the Knicks. There's not going to be an interview. The question here is, what would the Mavericks do The Mavericks have three choices. They can just say no and this happens. You know, last year, for example, the Phoenix Suns wanted to hire Chauncey Billups and the Trailblazers said no, he's our coach. They could negotiate a new contract with Jason Kidd to make him not even think about the Knicks or they could trade him. And I'll just point out 11 years ago, Jason Kidd did this exact same thing. Wanted to be the head coach of the Bucs and Yas Tennokounmpo got himself traded there for two second round picks. So the league is waiting and watching for that.
Don La Greca
And Alan, you said it best, you know, during our meeting and you even said it on the air yesterday. There's something Dallas could do if they still want Jason Kidd to be their coach. Right?
Alan Hahn
Yeah, let's, let's remember that last week when everything was going down when the Tibbs being fired news was made official. I told you there there's some targets for the Knicks that are currently working for other teams and one of them that started to get reported was Emo doka. It took 24 hours for the Rockets to shoot that down immediately had one of their reporters, I think it was from the Athletic, have a statement right where Udoka is going nowhere and I'm sure they're going to now give him a exceptional extension to make sure that he is handsomely paid and happy. This kid stuff has been out almost since the same exact time. Nothing from Dallas, Nothing. Nothing. So that, and in Dallas it has been discussed a lot that they were already not rumors but kind of like, you know, murmurs about kid just kind of like he's, he was getting like it's time to go. Like his time in Dallas, you know, the Luca trade was seismic. Of course they have the number one pick, Cooper flag. I mean you would think of all times that you'd want to dig in. It's right now, not only do you have a team that once everybody's healthy, which I know is a huge asterisk there, but the Mavericks, when they get healthy, when Kyrie comes back, they could be a very competitive team, but they could also be in the future. This guy is expected to be a generational talent. So you would think if anything, if you're a coach, I'm going anywhere, like I could be good here for a long time.
Don La Greca
But he's got wanderlust, right? I mean we saw that happen with the Nets and leaving to go to the box and so it just might be time now Michael brought this up because, you know, according to the reports Miriam Adelson, who's one of the owners of the Dallas Mavericks, owns the land in Vegas.
Peter Rosenberg
She's a real gem, by the way.
Don La Greca
Where Dolan built the sphere. So obviously there's a relationship there because if you want to go back full circle with all this, we want to get your calls on it at 1-800-919-3776. I think it's becoming real here, is that we said that if you're going to fire Tibbs, you better have all your ducks in a row. I think they probably had a tacit agreement that hey, we'll figure out compensation, but we want Jason Kidd, we're going to ask for permission. And the Knicks had to know that if they wanted Kidd, they'd get Kid because they don't want to be left holding the bag here. Because what if all of a sudden Dallas gives Kid a contract extension, Allen and Kidd stays in Dallas, then where are you pivoting to? Right? I mean, so if they want Kid.
Alan Hahn
They got to walk away.
Don La Greca
If Kid was part of the process of we're moving on with Tibs, we think Kidd is going to improve that. Then you now have to make sure you get Jason Kidd.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. And it's the NBA Finals. I don't think you make a transaction like this right now. It's bad enough that the Finals aren't being talked about much nationally on off days. So right now if the Knicks pulled off a like, you know, two second round. See the. Then the Nets received two second round picks from the Bucks back in 2011, not 2011, it was 20, what, 14 when he left Brooklyn after one year, the Bucs sent two second round picks. So if that's still the price, you do that and that becomes a bigger story than the NBA Finals, right? Doesn't it? Yeah, this point and then I mean there'll be obviously all the follow up stories and all. So you can't really do it now anyway. But you know, like you still have to figure out what exactly is going to happen. Is he, is, is this, is this all because the Finals are going on and this happens like before the draft or is there still some negotiating going on? We all know we're all grown ups here. We all know tampering is one thing, but back channels conversations always happen. We also know that Jason Jalen Brunson played for Jason Kidd. They, they know each other well. There's a mutual admiration there. So you know, like, like I don't know this, so I'm just going to like create like the Potential scenarios. Because, you know, Jalen Brunson's last words about the coaching with the Knicks was, that's the guy. Tom Thibodeau. Yes. I believe in him. Right. Those are the last words we heard from Jalen Brunson. So you're not doing this without Jalen Brunson knowing. Listen, Jalen, I know you love Tibbs. We're moving on. Like, the right thing to do would be to make sure he knows before Shams is tweeting it. Right?
Don La Greca
Right.
Alan Hahn
If that's part of the deal. If you're gonna accept that, that's the Leon Rose who knows how to handle business and knows how to handle people. Made sure Jalen knew first. Jalen, what are we doing then? Well, who's. Who's somebody you really admire? Well, look, if we're going to make a coaching change, let's get Jason Kidd. And everybody already knows through back channels he's not long for Dallas. For whatever reasons it is, he's not long for there. Maybe he doesn't like the new ownership. Maybe he doesn't like the direction of the franchise since Mark Cuban has stepped down. Whatever the reasons are, anybody that knows stuff in the league can tell you that this is nothing new and that. So if j. If everybody in the league knows it, you know, Jalen Brunson probably knows it. And so that's probably the thing. Like, well, if we're getting anybody, give me that guy, because I really respect him. He's a great coach. Let's see if we can get him. So that's where it all kind of begins now. Does it happen? That's what we're waiting for. How does it happen? Does it happen? And all that stuff.
Don La Greca
And so she.
Alan Hahn
So Adelson. Just so you know, they own the Las Vegas Sands and they sold all that stuff. The Venetian, the Ex Bone Convention center, all that stuff. Six billion, they said. All that property, remember? Half that. All that got blown up. It all got cleared out. So anyways, that's the land. They owned it, but sold it.
Don La Greca
So there's a relationship there. Now, the other tie in is Giannis. Now, obviously there's a relationship there. So is that the reason you want, kid? Because you can now get Giannis, or is it just a positive byproduct of going out and getting.
Alan Hahn
Well, it's funny you say that, because we have Wendy, because Wendy also brought up not Giannis's name because he said all's quiet on the Yanis front. He's not even in the US Right now. He's out away with his family. And I'm wondering. I did not think this name would resurface as a potential target. Remember, at the trade deadline, I told you guys that there was some. Some sniffing around about it, but it didn't happen. But apparently Kevin Durant is still very much in play here. Take a listen what Wendy said.
Anthony
I do believe Kevin Durant will be traded in the coming weeks. Today, the Suns are naming their new head coach Jordan Ott. He's at an introductory press conference. They've been going through that process, and I expect them to look into the Durant trade market pretty soon. Now, there are going to be a handful of teams that have interest in Durant. The key with Durant is this. He has one year left on his contract. Is he going to want to sign an extension? And is he going to want to be a part of the process of the trade? And are the sons going to let him be involved in the process? That's a key factor going forward.
Don La Greca
Hmm. So you can't have both of them, right? Or can you?
Alan Hahn
Both of you know, Yanis. No, no, you wouldn't be able to do that.
Don La Greca
So why would you want to put yourself in a situation?
Alan Hahn
But how do you make like you make it? Kevin Durant is going to be 37 when the season starts. He is owed one more year at $54 million. So I proposed this on the show this morning, and Wendy quickly said, no, that's not happening. I said, well, here's one scenario. And how you get Giannis, is that you. Which I'm not saying they should. I'm just saying this is how you do it. Towns for kd, okay. You get out of the town's contract, which has another couple of years left, and really escalates up. Take KD for a year. He's 38. When the season's over, or 37 turning 38, you walk from it. And now it opens up some space, a huge amount of cab space, Right?
Don La Greca
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
And then that's an easy way now to acquire Giannis, who can opt out in Milwaukee. Right?
Peter Rosenberg
Sure.
Alan Hahn
Right away, when he says Kevin Durant is not going somewhere where he is not getting an extension, well, then you can't. So that's out.
Don La Greca
That's got to be.
Alan Hahn
And Kevin Durant, again, he'll be 37 next season. If he's looking for an extension off a $54 million contract. And it's. What is it going to be? An extension of two years, at least, right off of next year, you're going up to almost 60mil for a guy that's that. Like, is that the move?
Peter Rosenberg
No, no.
Alan Hahn
Without swinging right now, if you're making these moves, Jason Kidd, Kevin Durant, you're blowing up the starting five again. If you're doing this, you're doing it because you look at the east and you see opportunity. You want to swing now and worry like. Like the Rams F them picks, worry about whatever it is later, but swing now and try to get that.
Peter Rosenberg
The only swing, respectfully, to kd, who I like a lot, the only swing is Giannis. I'm sorry.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Not only is he younger. Right. But I'm sorry, which. Which one of those guys has already proven that they can be the guy who can be the centerpiece of a championship.
Alan Hahn
Okay. D, twice.
Peter Rosenberg
On one of the greatest teams ever assembled.
Alan Hahn
I'm sorry, it's the Finals mvp. Both times.
Peter Rosenberg
I get it. But Giannis was on a team that in. It's in when we go look back.
Alan Hahn
Oh, I understand.
Peter Rosenberg
It'll be a trivia to name another player on that team. Respect to Kris Middleton. That was Giannis's championship with Mike Buchanan. You know what I'm saying?
Alan Hahn
Well, that's the other one who coached it.
Peter Rosenberg
Exactly. It's a good trivia throughout it. Whereas I'm just saying when Katie has went out on his own. Otherwise, it hasn't worked out that way to me. And even if you remove Katie, Giannis is one of the very few players and he's not my favorite player to watch. I don't like his style of game. Is not my personal cup of tea day to day. I love watching. I like watching a Jalen Brunson more than I like watching a Giannis. That's me. But Giannis is the one guy out there who can make any team a contender, in my opinion. You get him, you. You have a chance.
Don La Greca
Yeah. And I'm not paying, you know, $60 million to a 38, 39 year old either. I don't want to have to do that if that means having to extend.
Peter Rosenberg
By the way, who's not a defender? Who's not a defender either. Giannis gives you everything.
Don La Greca
No, the Giannis is the play. But I would rather have neither of them than have KD for that kind of money at 38, 39 years old.
Alan Hahn
That's why I'm not like. I know the reports are out there. I believe KD wants to play for the Knicks. I think he wants to revisit the 29th thing, 2019 thing all over again. But I'm with you when it comes to the machinations of it and also what it really would take, it just feels like a real major reach.
Don La Greca
It does.
Alan Hahn
But if kid is like, I'll come there if you do this. And KD's like, I'll come there if you do this. And Jalen Brunson's like, that's the guy I want coaching me and you and everybody in that front office and ownership goes in the next year, the east is wide open, and we want it strike now and end this fricking drought. Then the swing might happen. We'll see.
Don La Greca

What's up fellas? Thanks for taking my call as always. I wanted to shout out Alan. I just want to shout out Alan for being like just the best company man. I also want to take Alan. I want to take Alan to test though because he's funny because obviously Mr. Handsome, you know the number one seed in the beautiful draft is like telling you guys oh we're above this, let's not do this. But piecing it all together based on what you said about the pickup at the airport yesterday, Allen, I think that you're so good looking that you're looking past. I think people look at you like the blonde, the blonde bimbo. I think they look at you as like a himbo and they're trying to take advantage of you, Alan, so don't let them do that. All right?

Well, now he can sit around and smoke all the mushrooms he wants and collects Pittsburgh's checks. All right, that's what I think about Aaron Rodgers. Good riddance. You can go be someone else's problem. But in all seriousness, Allen, I have a real question for you, okay? When it comes to the coach, when it comes to the Knicks coach coming up, I don't care about a name. I care about a thing that they're going to bring. What do you think that the next coach has to bring? Or how do they have to be different? Is it offensive creativity? Is it, you know, an ability to be flexible on allowing players to play more minutes off the bench? Like what, what is it that you think will help the Knicks get over that next hump? Not, not just the name, but like, what does that person have to bring? Because maybe Johnny Bryant brings in and it's all good, but please, you know, I'm not looking for a name, just looking about who, who could, you know.
Peter Rosenberg
Not Johnny Bryant is what you're saying.
Alan Hahn
Experience, Javi. Experience is the. To me, the most important thing if you are on a time crunch, if you are a hit the ground running, win now with all the pressure you could possibly imagine, this is as high like I, this might even be more pressure than Joe Tory was under. Am I crazy to say that the Yankees hadn't done a damn thing for years and all they did was make the wild card and lost in the wild card. Right? It's not like they were coming off like four or five years of winning. They were bad in the early 90s. They never even got to the playoffs in 94 because there was a strike. Then the 95 season, it wasn't like they won the division and just waltzed right into the playoffs, took a late.
Don La Greca
Run just to make the wild card.
Alan Hahn
And then they got their ass Kicked. So who's under more pressure? Joe Tory in year one or whoever takes this job after a coach won 50, 50 wins in back to back seasons and had their first run to a final four winning playoff every year. It's, it's, it's massive, massive pressure.
Don La Greca
No, listen, because the guy was fired because you couldn't get to the next step. Like you said, they fired Buck after losing in the, in the divisional round. You just fired a coach that lost in Game 6 of the conference final. But you know the Yankees were on a drought which was long for them, but not that long.
Alan Hahn
But did you know what the Yankees were like? Did you know the Yankees were going to become that good? Did you have any idea what was coming? Or did you think like, did you think they underachieve losing to the Mariners?
Don La Greca
Well, the people, people did believe that they underachieved because when that whole strike happened in 94 they were second best.
Alan Hahn
Team in the league.
Don La Greca
The second best team in the league to the Expo. So the feeling was they were on their way to winning the American League east and they were going to go into the playoffs. Okay, this is obviously pre wild card, right? And then 95, they start the wild card, get off to a terrible start. They need to go on a run late just to get the wild card. And then they blew a two. Nothing. Seriously?
Alan Hahn
Yeah. Yeah.
Don La Greca
So I would think the Knicks have to feel like they're closer than the Yankees felt like they were because all they had was half a season. Because that strike happened in the summer. It wasn't like it happened in September. I think it happened in July. I mean it was, it was more than half the season, but still it wasn't a full season. And then you had a disappointing once it was like less than 162 because they had to shorten the season to what was it, 152 games or something? Because they didn't. The strike didn't end until deep into spring training of 95. But the Knicks, listen, they made the trade for Cat because they wanted to be Boston. When did they want to be Boston?
Alan Hahn
They had 113 games in 94 were 70 and 43. That's the best record that they had had since 1980. So 14 years.
Don La Greca
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
Winning percent.
Don La Greca
But, but.
Alan Hahn
And then 95, they played 145 games. So just, just to be clear, right.
Don La Greca
I was only 113. I didn't. Yeah, that, that few games.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, yeah, that. But that season ended.
Don La Greca
Remember the Cat trade was to help them beat the Celtics.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don La Greca
When did everybody think they were going to beat the play the Celtics in the conference final.
Alan Hahn
Right.
Don La Greca
So I guess the feeling was at least get at least back to the conference final, if not go to the finals. And I don't think the Yankees were getting anywhere close to a World Series. It's all hypothetical in 94, of course. So we don't know how the season would have finished.
Alan Hahn
That season ended on August 11th. 94.
Don La Greca
All right, so August 11th. So that you had all of. So basically two months of regular season baseball done.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don La Greca
And. And then you got to go. Then you got to navigate through the playoffs.
Alan Hahn
Right.
Don La Greca
You know, so this Nick team is at least established itself. Granted the NBA, it's easier to make the playoffs, but three consecutive 50 win seasons, which to me is almost the equivalent of 90 plus in a baseball regular season.
Peter Rosenberg
Is that fair?
Don La Greca
A 50 win season in the NBA.
Alan Hahn
Is a 90 win season. Yeah. Yeah.
Don La Greca
So then the Yankee. Yankees certainly.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. Because the 60 win season is like 100 win season.
Don La Greca
Yeah, the Yankees certainly weren't that.
Alan Hahn
