Don Hahn
This is the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast.
Peter Rosenberg
That sounds like heaven to me.
Don Hahn
Listen live weekday afternoon starting at 3 on 880 ESPN, the ESPN New York app and your smart speakers.
Ty Butler
All right, it is 401. Don Hahn and Rosenberg. Peter Rosenberg, Ty Butler, Don Legreca back next week. Yes, I'll be sad to see you go, Ty.
Dave Rothenberg
No, you would not be sad. Yesterday you talked about how there he.
Ty Butler
Goes, here he goes into his full Alan Hahn sensitive zone. I didn't know this existed. But in spite of that, I'll still be sad to see you go.
Dave Rothenberg
No, it's been a fun week. A different week.
Ty Butler
John Winthrop said it's been different. Well, let's stay with that because you want to get a big guest on a Friday. Some people would try to go get some faca like reporter who's been at camp somewhere or let's see what Jeff Passon has to say about the Yankees and Mets heading into the. No, I want to get the guy who had the most compelling thing to say on the radio all week long, and that is our friend Dave Rothenberg of DiPietro and Rothenberg who shared one of the most alarming stories I've ever heard. I just gave a pretty detailed version of it a few minutes ago about a seven or eight hour date that he went on that led to him never hearing from the woman again. Dave, thank you for joining us. It's Peter and Ty and I just have a bunch of questions for you.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, it's a pleasure. Thanks for having me. Yeah, it's nice to join you fine gentlemen on a summer Friday. So what can I provide for the show?
Ty Butler
All right, let's start with actual timeline. You've been with Sherry for 21 years.
Peter Rosenberg
Might I say something before we start?
Ty Butler
Sure.
Peter Rosenberg
Here's the thing. This was a real story. It was not made up. It was not an on air bit. It was a legitimate story. And then I was driving a little bit ago and I heard you guys discussing it like, well, this is garbage. And no, it's a true story. And if you'd like to discuss it.
Ty Butler
We never said it wasn't True.
Peter Rosenberg
What? But. No but, but I wanted.
Ty Butler
It's unbelievable.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm still taken seriously and I. And I don't want to be beaten over the head with it. Like I want to, I want to discuss it like gentlemen is what I'd like to do.
Ty Butler
No, we are, we are not going to be offensive.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay.
Ty Butler
We're not going to be rude.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay.
Ty Butler
I want to ask real questions. What year was this date?
Peter Rosenberg
All right, so Sherry and I got married in 2004. So we met in November of O2. I'm guessing it was fall or summer of O2. It was, it was a girl that I attempted to date right before meeting Sherry.
Ty Butler
So 02, you're saying.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, so we're looking at a 23 year old passing of time since I went on the one date with this girl who I do. And I texted my buddy yesterday as I was telling the story. I believe I'm confident her name is Alison.
Ty Butler
And. Okay, how did you connect? What was the original connection?
Peter Rosenberg
So I went to a, like a work happy hour for my friend and it was like a 5:30, you know, like advertising kind of a thing. And this girl was there and she was adorable. And I remember saying to like a co worker of my friends, like, I'm gonna take that girl out for drinks or dinner or something. And he's like, all right. So after the, After I had met her, he got the green light that he could give my number, give her number to me. And I got her number and I, I guess I probably. I don't remember if I. I probably called her, I would guess. And we set up a night to go out.
Ty Butler
Oh, wow. I'm impressed already. Let me just say that.
Peter Rosenberg
Why?
Dave Rothenberg
Because he's got game.
Ty Butler
I didn't know you had.
Peter Rosenberg
I didn't know I was a player. I mean, I got down with ladies back in the day. Absolutely.
Ty Butler
Is that true? I just can't picture.
Dave Rothenberg
I can't see it.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, I'm very well endowed.
Ty Butler
Well, that we know.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. And that's a tremendous help and. Yeah, no, absolutely.
Ty Butler
It gives you the confidence.
Peter Rosenberg
Tremendous confidence. And you know, I'm a big numbers guy. And my thought is if I'm gonna. If I just want to get to the plate and if I can get to the plate 50 times and I get 10 hits. Well, I'm hitting.200, but I'm still getting 10 hits.
Ty Butler
Now listen, hitting 200 in this league, that's. That's all right.
Peter Rosenberg
I get right to the hall of Fame.
Ty Butler
Straight to the hall of Fame. All right. So where, what restaurant do you guys go to?
Peter Rosenberg
So we went to and I really liked her. So I remember pushing for like a real date. So I took her and I think it's still there. Doc's on Second Avenue and like 40th Street. Do you know that place? It's like a seafood restaurant. And we sat there for. I think we met at seven. Now I'm making up the time. It's so long ago, I don't remember but like 7 to 10. It was one of those dates. Like the conversation was free flowing and it was uplifting and there was commonality and it was going swimmingly, beautifully. So much so that I remember when we finished eating and I said we can't and now let's go out for drinks. And she's like, absolutely. So she was so into it and I heard you guys say this and I was a little bit bothered and Peter, I think you're going to be like minded with me. There's no way I would want to spend six or seven hours with someone I wasn't interested in just to use them for food and drink. I mean I would.
Ty Butler
That's.
Peter Rosenberg
That's crazy.
Dave Rothenberg
No, you like that.
Peter Rosenberg
Dave, no one would do that. That's psychotic behavior. No one would.
Dave Rothenberg
I'm saying no one would do that.
Peter Rosenberg
No one would do that.
Dave Rothenberg
I'm telling you. I know experience.
Peter Rosenberg
That is psychotic behavior. There is nothing I would rather do less than spend time with someone I have no interest in spending time with.
Dave Rothenberg
That's you man.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't care if they're pasting caviar on plates in front of me. I'm not sitting there for six hours talking to someone I have no interest to talk to. None.
Ty Butler
But Dave, just the same way many people would think it's insane to not bring their wife to the hospital when she temperature of 1.
Peter Rosenberg
Frowned upon. By the way, the fact that I stand for in this day and age, the way society is currently set up, the fact that I stand for something and I get destroyed for it is embarrassing for us as a station.
Ty Butler
That's a hell of a take. But, but I'm just. I agree with you that it's insane, but that doesn't mean people don't do it.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, well you know what? Then she, then she wins. Like, like if that was her, if that was her idea and her goal is listen. But no, here's what I want to get swordfish and a cup of coffee and a few drinks and then she wins, then good for her.
Ty Butler
You're right. You're right. But. But there's more to glean from this.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes.
Ty Butler
What. What happened the next day. So the date happens. You said you. You kissed her goodnight. Was it. Was it on the lips?
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, yeah, it was. It was tongue involved too. It was a good kiss.
Ty Butler
So you slobbed her down right there.
Peter Rosenberg
I slobbed her down. And here's the thing. I was such a gentleman. And then I get like, renunciate like. Well, she. You should have just brought her back to your place and had sex with it. That's not what I want. Oh, he's an animal.
Ty Butler
Jordan Renan. Trust me, I know. I know guys at Maryland like Jordan Renan.
Peter Rosenberg
That's what I wanted to do.
Ty Butler
He's disgusting.
Peter Rosenberg
I got like Raymond and RJ and I hear Jacob, who I'm not very fond of, by the way, anymore. I like, obviously, you know, he didn't want to seal the deal. I didn't want to seal the deal. I really liked her. I didn't want to bring it back to my apartment, have sex with her. I wanted to actually build something with this girl. Right.
Dave Rothenberg
All right.
Ty Butler
I feel you.
Dave Rothenberg
Let me ask you something real quick. So you're tongue in her down. You grab some booty.
Ty Butler
Whoa. Oh.
Peter Rosenberg
Because not everybody's run, Jeremy. Okay? That's what you don't understand, Ty. You're in it for the quickness. You're in it for the. Give me five minutes. I'm done. Go home. I don't care if I see you again. I wanted to. He was building something I was in.
Dave Rothenberg
Okay, clearly you were building something. Clearly she wasn't. But let's go back to date itself.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay.
Dave Rothenberg
The date itself, now that you look back on it and I get it was 23 years ago. So it's hard to have like, recollection. Was there anything that happened that you now look back on? Was that red flag, like something thrown off?
Peter Rosenberg
No. So. So we went from the restaurant to a bar and I think it was the. I think it was the Morgan Library over on Madison Avenue and went there as a cool spot. And we drank and we're hanging out and the arm goes around her and it's like close talking and it was lovely. Right.
Ty Butler
And like Lonnie from the company.
Peter Rosenberg
Exactly like that. Yeah, it was that. It wasn't that close, but it was.
Ty Butler
She put her hand on your shoulder.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ty Butler
Yeah, I know, I know.
Peter Rosenberg
Breathing right down my face. Yes. It was just much like that. So. And I think that was from like a. I don't know, like a 10:30. By the time we walked there, like, maybe 11:00 clock to, like, 1:30. And then I remember she says, here's the thing. I gotta go, because I think the last train's at, like 1:49. And I was having such a great time. I said, no, no, no. I said, here's what we're gonna do. Because it's also. It's a woman. You want to make sure that she's safe, right?
Ty Butler
I said, of course.
Peter Rosenberg
Let me. Let me put you in a car. There's no Uber, so we had to, like, grab a taxi. I said, I'll put you in a car and I'll pay for it. She's like, no, no, I don't. I was like, no, it's fine. I'm having a great time. I don't want the night to end. And she's like, great, let's do that. So I put her in a car at, like 2 o', clock, 1:30, 2 o' clock in the morning. So we're looking at six and a half, maybe even seven hours of date. And I gave her a nice kiss good night and I said, I'll call you tomorrow. And that was it. And at that moment was the last time I ever spoke with this woman ever.
Ty Butler
So. So, okay, I have a couple more questions. First, I want to say that this is so fascinating because, like, I'm not gonna lie here. I've absolutely been blown off before in a way that's, like, flabbergasting.
Peter Rosenberg
This was epic, though.
Ty Butler
Like, you're, you're, you're texting and it's all good. Then all of a sudden, the person, like, literally disappears.
Peter Rosenberg
Like, the live odds, peter, were like minus 5,000 at a second would happen.
Ty Butler
Oh, yeah, by the way. Exactly. If you were. If you were, it was minus 5,000 for a second date, certainly. And actually, I would say it would say never hear from her again. It was like plus.
Peter Rosenberg
Plus 18,000. Those charts were like, when the percentage that a team would win when they're up by eight runs and that you're in the ninth inning was 99.97%. That's what this was.
Ty Butler
So then what happened the next day?
Peter Rosenberg
The next day?
Ty Butler
Just take us through what happened.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, so I called her voicemail because.
Ty Butler
Again, this is 2002. So today that would have been a text, probably, but back then it's a call.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm not a current dater, so I don't know exactly how it's played today, but, yeah, 2002, I believe I called her voicemail message, you know, and that. And that's that. And then. And then a few days went by.
Ty Butler
Hey, it's Dave, the guy who. Down on the street. We hung out for hours. I spent hundreds of dollars. Give me a call.
Peter Rosenberg
Not $225.
Ty Butler
That's a lot in 2000. That's the equivalent today of, like, a $500 date.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, so $225. And I was happy to do it. Right, okay, so. Left a message. Yeah. No response for how I. Like a. I think the date was a Thursday. So now we're probably talking. I called Friday weekend. Goes by Monday. Second call. Hey, you know what? Follow up. I didn't hear back. I guess you're busy this weekend. Can't wait to catch up again, you know, Give me a call when you can. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Ty Butler
And at that point, you gave up. You punted.
Peter Rosenberg
No, I didn't, because I was. I was in it. I was invested. A. I was highly curious because I was.
Ty Butler
All right, so. Because I assume at this point, Shawn Lindetta is walking out on the field.
Dave Rothenberg
Wait.
Ty Butler
And we're punting.
Dave Rothenberg
But you have the mutual friend, so.
Peter Rosenberg
There'S a way to get contact. So now. But I also don't want to be this, like, weirdo who has to call the friend. Like, hey, it's a. Listen, I called her two times. She didn't respond. Can you get involved? I didn't want to be that guy. So I gave a third call.
Dave Rothenberg
All right.
Peter Rosenberg
On the Thursday, which is now one full week later. And I think I was like, listen, I don't know if something's happened or where you're now living, but, you know, I haven't heard from you. I hope everything's okay. Nothing. And finally I got in touch with the mutual friend, and I said, what is going on? And he goes, yeah, I talked to her. She's just not really interested in you. And I was like, how is this. How is it possible? How could that be? Like, I was. I was scammed.
Dave Rothenberg
I told you. You were scared. I was scammed up for the next two.
Peter Rosenberg
She used me for a martini.
Dave Rothenberg
She used you for. For food.
Peter Rosenberg
Yep.
Dave Rothenberg
For drinks. And she met up with the next dude, man.
Peter Rosenberg
Probably. You know what? Probably so.
Dave Rothenberg
But Dave. Wow. So there. But there's no chance that the kiss threw her off? Like. Like, you guys were both, like, in on the kid? Like, I'm just trying to understand.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, I didn't. I didn't sit there and do forensic evidence, but she leaned into the kiss and the kiss went on from. It wasn't like she pulled.
Ty Butler
No, it wasn't two seconds.
Peter Rosenberg
It was. It was a real kiss. In fact, it was. It was a long enough kiss that I remember the driver being like.
Dave Rothenberg
I mean, are you a bad kisser?
Peter Rosenberg
I'm a great kisser. A beautiful, succulent, soft lips. No, I don't know what it was, Ty. I don't have an answer.
Ty Butler
I really appreciate that. The way this story was told at the beginning, Dave set us up to say no one would ever just use someone. But the whole story lands on he in fact found out and accepts that she obviously did.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, what an insane thing. I still can't fathom that someone would be so. So juvenile and. And. And embarrassing that they would do something like. I still. I can't believe it. Because, Peter, you tell me if I told you you're going to get a great meal and a couple of phenomenal drinks, but you don't have to hang out with someone for seven hours that you have zero interest in. Are you doing that?
Ty Butler
I would not know.
Peter Rosenberg
You would never do it, Ty, would you do it?
Dave Rothenberg
No, I wouldn't.
Peter Rosenberg
You would never do it. So she obviously needs a lot of therapy and she's a psychotic.
Dave Rothenberg
So. Look, you dodged the bullet, right? Yeah, you dodged the bullet.
Ty Butler
Think about it. That woman could have been with you and years later ruined your life. You know, just made it. Just done something. And you would have been stuck with child support. Everything's different. Instead, you meet the saint of a woman, Saint Sherry, who enables you to having the psychotic fanship that you currently.
Peter Rosenberg
Have and welcomes it. And my date right after that was with Sherry when we went on our first date. And I remember.
Ty Butler
That's amazing. So this is really kismet. It's more. You're not giving enough credit to that. It's amazing. Like it made no sense. You can't even. Maybe God intervened.
Peter Rosenberg
Maybe. Maybe Hudson was involved in the whole thing. I don't know. But I remember going out with Sherry and saying, okay, here's the deal. We went. Do you remember this place, Peter? Upper west side?
Ty Butler
I don't.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't think it's in existence anymore. The Evelyn Lounge. Do you ever hear that place?
Ty Butler
I've heard of the Evelyn Lounge, sure.
Peter Rosenberg
So we went to the Evelyn Lounge. We met up, and we're sitting there having great conversation. But now I'm thinking to myself, is this really a great conversation? Because maybe it's not. Maybe it's gonna be another scenario where we have great What I think is great conversation. And then I get ghosted. So I remember at about 10 o', clock, I said to Sherry, here's the deal now, all right? I was just scarred and burned with my last date. So once the clock strikes 11, if you're still here with me and this date is continuing, you are now obligated if I so choose for a second date. And she said, yeah. What kind of a lunatic will go after someone for three hours and wouldn't call them back? And I was like, exactly.
Ty Butler
And by the way, another footnote to the story that you can't overlook is that, like, we can all make a lot of jokes about Dave. You know, his inability to throw a football normally or swing a baseball bat or all the things we say. Say whatever you want. We know for a fact that Sherry is a beautiful woman.
Peter Rosenberg
Beautiful.
Ty Butler
And he's saying that the right before he was out with another smoke show. So, like. And by the way, Dave, did you even have any success at this point in 2002? What were you even doing?
Peter Rosenberg
No, my grandmother had a talk with Sherry the night of the wedding and said, listen, I hope you really love him because he's amounted to very little to this point, and I don't know what we're gonna get out of him at all.
Dave Rothenberg
Wait, so can we go back to this conversation you had on the date with this lady?
Ty Butler
You really.
Peter Rosenberg
You're still.
Ty Butler
You're still not.
Dave Rothenberg
Because when Dave has regular conversation.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Dave Rothenberg
Is he throwing in, like, a weird. This guy go to college?
Peter Rosenberg
No, no.
Ty Butler
Wait, wait, wait. So you think she's saying something? It's 2002. So she's like, you think?
Peter Rosenberg
She says, like, so I went to Boston College with Matt Hasselbeck. And I'm like, yeah, Matt, Tim, Boston College. I know it. Thank you. Like, you think, no, no, no. I think.
Ty Butler
I think, no, he does it with everything. So she was like, oh, my God, my favorite actress is that new actress, Tara Reid.
Peter Rosenberg
And he's like, tara Reid, American Pie. And she had a botched boom job. You think I just jump into that? Yeah. I don't know. She was in Van Wilder. You think I. You thinking now I go off on a tangent.
Ty Butler
See that? That's the part that I think Ty's concerned about.
Peter Rosenberg
You could be social. To be honest, I understand why you might have that concern. But seven hours, like, once you commit seven hours, it's like a verbal contract. You say, I want a second date.
Dave Rothenberg
If I'm giving you seven, turn it into an opportunity. I understand that. You could be socially awkward.
Peter Rosenberg
No, you could be very. I'm a. I'm a. I'm a wonderful conversational.
Ty Butler
You know, that's an interesting list for the station is the order of social awkwardness at the station. That's a. That's a fun.
Peter Rosenberg
You can say what you want. There is no way I'm at the Mount Rushmore of social station.
Ty Butler
We know. Don is Mount Rush. Don is Mount Rush.
Peter Rosenberg
Don would be in one of the prime spots, I think.
Ty Butler
Yeah, I think. I know. I think Don's. Washington, maybe Jefferson. Yes, it's. It's. Considering Don is one of the most sweet and lovely people I've ever known, it's jarring. I think it's underrated that, like, even though he will be nice to people, for sure, that's the only. He only knows how to be nice to people, but he will kind of avoid it. Like he doesn't want to be around people.
Peter Rosenberg
He's not a people person.
Ty Butler
He's not.
Dave Rothenberg
But can we come up with four people at the station that are socially awkward? Socially awkward?
Peter Rosenberg
I don't think there is. I don't think you are, Ty.
Ty Butler
Yeah, I think.
Peter Rosenberg
I guess you think I am, but I don't really think I am.
Ty Butler
Well, you know, we're gonna have a chance, by the way. So have you been roped into doing this live game cast that we're doing?
Dave Rothenberg
Roped in.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't know what you're talking about.
Ty Butler
You haven't heard about this yet?
Peter Rosenberg
I've been roped in.
Ty Butler
Oh, it's not. It's not announced yet. Okay, well, I'll wait for the big advertising.
Peter Rosenberg
If it were to happen, I. Yes, I.
Ty Butler
Once Budweiser. Once Budweiser comes on for the sponsorship, Dave, we'll do a big reveal at halftime. But. So this was the end and you married Sherry. End of the day, here we are.
Peter Rosenberg
That's right. 21 years later. Right. We've been married for 21 and a half years now. Couldn't be happier. Two amazing children.
Ty Butler
And your son is going to play college sports.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Franklin and Marshall in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. That's right. He go. He goes in 10 days. And I don't know that I'm emotionally ready for it, but he leaves soon.
Dave Rothenberg
So what happens if he has like a big time game on a Sunday at 1:00'? Clock?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, Tyler, let me ask you a question. Does football get played in March and April?
Dave Rothenberg
I mean, come on, Dave. Do we. Do we have to be condescending?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, I mean, you asked me a question. Which doesn't make sense. The base. The baseball season starts in March.
Dave Rothenberg
Well, he makes it okay, but. Okay, Dave, he makes it to the, to the major leagues and there's some.
Peter Rosenberg
And then, and then they play in December.
Dave Rothenberg
They're playing. Come on, Dave.
Ty Butler
No, what about September?
Dave Rothenberg
September, baseball.
Peter Rosenberg
Here's the thing, I'll say. All right, here's the thing. I'll say.
Ty Butler
Here's what he will say.
Peter Rosenberg
The major leagues, they would provide a suite for the. Like the dad whose kid is just getting called up. I'll watch his game and all the games in a suite at the stadium.
Dave Rothenberg
But what if they don't provide set suite?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, you know what? Then let's cross that bridge when we get there. I don't envision him donning a major league uniform at any point in the future. And if he does, I will be at almost every game I can get to of his.
Ty Butler
As long as the Giants aren't playing. What division is Franklin Marshall?
Peter Rosenberg
The Centennial Conference.
Ty Butler
What division though? D what?
Peter Rosenberg
D 3. The power of the Centennial Conference is Johns Hopkins. That is the division.
Ty Butler
I'm very impressed.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, he's a terrific. He was.
Ty Butler
I'm very impressed. That offspring of yours.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't understand. And this is what perplexes me about the. To you, I mean just the stories that I can enlighten people with have carried your show today for the most part, why you would have me on as a guest.
Ty Butler
That's an interesting way of looking at.
Peter Rosenberg
It and be nasty towards me.
Ty Butler
How is that? You're telling me, hold on. You're telling me, by the way, your wife was a Division 1 athlete, right? You're telling me you don't think it worked out well for you that someone of your ability has an offspring that's going to play college sports?
Peter Rosenberg
You're not. You don't go, wow, that are going to wind up playing college sports.
Ty Butler
I believe your younger is also going.
Peter Rosenberg
He'S a great lacrosse player.
Dave Rothenberg
Lacrosse, right?
Ty Butler
Oh, that's right, lacrosse. Hopefully better at lacrosse than choosing football.
Peter Rosenberg
Jerseys, you know, but I knew that was an issue at the time. I was like, you want a Darren Waller jersey? And he said, yes. Darren Waller jersey, by the way. Let me ask you this, Peter. Did you ever get a thank you note for that Darren Waller jersey?
Ty Butler
I think I did, yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
How about that, huh? A thank you note, by the way.
Ty Butler
That was an interesting thing. We just brought up one of the great gifts that a friend has ever given a friend's child for a bar mitzvah. And rather than going wow, that was a remarkable gift. He then flips it back to the fact that I didn't send him a thank you note. You couldn't even live in the moment of the lovely gift. Which by the way, a gift that was completely wasted. And you should have been a strong.
Peter Rosenberg
Authority figure with you at all.
Ty Butler
I said to the kids, what happened to the jersey?
Peter Rosenberg
Peter wants to give you a beautiful Giants jersey. What do you want? And he's like, I really want a Waller jersey. I was like, okay, well. And I said, did you push back? I said, don't you think someone that you know, like Andrew Thomas or someone you know is going to be here for four years? No, I want Waller. And so I was like, okay, listen, if that's what you want. I think.
Dave Rothenberg
I think it's a mistake parenting.
Peter Rosenberg
No, it's not bad parenting.
Dave Rothenberg
And you call yourself a big giant.
Ty Butler
You should not have allowed that. By the way, be honest. What even happened to the jersey?
Peter Rosenberg
I'm sure it's in his closet, but.
Ty Butler
It couldn't have even gotten worn. Did it ever get worn?
Peter Rosenberg
I don't think it was ever been worn. I don't think it's good faith. What the Giants should do is have like those things when the guy gets traded away and they accept it to be traded in. And we should be allowed to trade that in for like a blue jersey.
Ty Butler
He got. That would be a nice one. He got the. This is the white and red. Oh, it's beautiful. Throwback. It's the. It's the. $330. Authentic to the highest level. Authentic I've never had. No one has given me a jersey gift. It's gorgeous.
Peter Rosenberg
Waller. Waller. Yeah. It was one. It was one of the worst decisions he's ever made, but it was.
Ty Butler
Listen, two. You're going to have two college athletes in the house.
Peter Rosenberg
I believe that's. That's accurate. Yes.
Dave Rothenberg
Before you go, Dave, I gotta. I gotta sneak this in.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Dave Rothenberg
I don't want to say excitement, but like emotion, emotionally. Where are you with this whole Jackson dart starting in week one of the preseason? Like, how do you feel about it?
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, I'm excited. See, preseason's so weird, right? Because you know what you'll do if he goes out there and he's great? Oh, my God. We have. We have the guy, we have the quarterback. But in essence that's not true. You don't know. And if he goes out there and he's terrible, you know what the excuse will be? It's preseason, right? He's supposed to have these growing pains. So I'm casually, I'm excited to watch him play and I'm not going to get too high or too low and hopefully he'll look good and hopefully at some point he'll play this season and he'll be the future quarterback. But no, you take whatever he does tomorrow in Buffalo with a complete grain of salt.
Ty Butler
Couldn't agree with you more. Did you feel any satisfaction seeing that? Of course. Daniel Jones line. Last night was the most Daniel Jones line of all time.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I mean, I think this is probably unfair and unfounded, but I have an amazing ability to hate players that are no longer on my team that have not accomplished what I hope they would accomplish. So I know it's a very little thing to say, but I wish failure for all the players that have once.
Ty Butler
Played for, including Daniel Jones, in spite of the fact that he was a class act.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, no, I don't care about class or not. No Daniel Jones, Saquon, Barkley, you name it. I will avidly.
Dave Rothenberg
How do you feel about my, my prediction that the Giants will beat the Commanders Week 1?
Peter Rosenberg
I don't think it's crazy. I don't think now I think beat them might be aggressive, but I know the line is 7 and I feel bullish on the Giants to cover that number. I think, I think I like this game.
Ty Butler
I saw it yesterday at six and a half. I don't disagree with that. Like, I, I'm not. Let me tell you this. When we make Our picks week one, I'm not picking the Commanders at 7A division game. These teams always play within three points.
Peter Rosenberg
I think the Giants defense should be like guys really good.
Ty Butler
I mean so you don't, you don't think it's getting overhyped?
Peter Rosenberg
You're confident? No, I mean, walk it through with me. Dexter Lawrence is a star player, right? One of the best defensive linemen of football. I don't, I don't think cave on Thibodeau is great, but Kayvon Thibodeau as a third option rushing, it might be great. Burns is really good. Okay. Abdul Carter, Everything I've heard and I was at practice the other day is freakish. And you know, you hate to throw out like a Micah Parsons, but it feels like we're heading in that early. I get it in that direction. Linebackers are good. There's depth to this defense. The secondary is far better than what it's been in the past. If the Giants defense is not top 10 in the NFL, something has gone terribly wrong. This Year.
Ty Butler
Yeah, they are very good, particularly up front. Dave, you're tremendous. You brought a lot to the show today and we love you dearly. Good luck sending your boy off to college next week. That's gonna be very, very challenging. I wish you the best with it.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, I appreciate it. Now, Ty, am I joining you in the morning for a quick little hit during your show?
Dave Rothenberg
Don't try to do what that woman did to you. To me. You're still joining me tomorrow morning.
Peter Rosenberg
What are you talking about? I was trying to promote it, Tyler.
Dave Rothenberg
Okay. I just want to make sure.
Ty Butler
You thought he was trying to get out of it.
Dave Rothenberg
Let your way out of it.
Peter Rosenberg
Did I not say, am I joining you for. For what? I thought you'd respond of yes. Big spot with you in the morning. With me instead, have this. This bit of nastiness, which, like old times, unfounded.
Dave Rothenberg
And that's exactly what it is, Anthony. It's like old times.
Alan Hahn
I mean, I'll be home. This sounds great. You guys have fun.
Dave Rothenberg
We will do the Saturday show together just like we used to do.
Peter Rosenberg
I look forward to that. I love you all. I wish you guys nothing but a great rest of the summer. And I will talk to you in the morning. Ty and Peter, I hear you have another vacation coming. I'm envious of you. I look forward to that for you.
Dave Rothenberg
Wait, quickly, quickly. Dave, in like 10 seconds, your thoughts on him having a month long paternity leave.
Ty Butler
Well, this is an interesting. I'm curious to see where Dave's gonna go here because everyone seems to feel strongly about this.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, I'm very much a proponent of bonding with family and spending time with family. And I remember like the days of like Daniel Murphy took two days off when he had a baby and I was like, how could he take two days off? What kind of guy is this? No, I mean, yeah, you have a new child and. And you should be bonding and spending time now. I'll be. I mean, you want me to be honest or do you want me to like. I can only be honest. I apologize for that. Yeah.
Ty Butler
You only have one speed. Only have one gear.
Peter Rosenberg
A month feels like a very long time to me, but I'm. No, I'm being sincere. I'm thrilled that Peter. Because this is. You never get this time back. And I'm thrilled that Peter is able to spend time with his family and that they're able to.
Ty Butler
And I waited a long. And I waited a long time for this first one.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I don't judge him. I don't think and by the way, can I get straight.
Ty Butler
Can I just throw one more thing out there that. Because I always get buried for everything.
Peter Rosenberg
Right.
Ty Butler
Just to be clear, I took. I was off for like two weeks in the winter and then we were, you know, it was the beginning of a new thing. And I threw the Knicks playoff run. Nothing. I stayed, stayed, stayed. And I waited till the dead of summer.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I tried my best and it's never time. You can, you can duplicate. You'll never get it back. So I think it's great. What I do find curious is that you take a month long sabbatical from the show, which is wonderful. You're back for like a minute and then. And now you're taking vacation time. So I find that to be curious. But I don't begrudge you. Good for you. You know what? You got a hell of an agent and you're a tremendous talent. And I don't.
Ty Butler
Look, I want to tell you that, but I have big news for you, Dave. I have big news for you. Should you and Sherry say, you know what, empty house, it's time to run this thing back, I would do it again. And by the way, you would get three months. We get 12. We get 12 weeks. Paternity leave with Disney. We work for a wonderful, wonderful company. And as long as you use it, Dave, during the first year, 12 weeks.
Peter Rosenberg
I might have a child just to get the 12 weeks.
Ty Butler
That's what I'm saying. Why would we not? So, Dave, I had, I had the choice of when I die, have these moments of incredible moments in France with my baby or complaining about the exact same thing.
Peter Rosenberg
Right. Aaron Boone doesn't know how to handle a bullpen.
Ty Butler
Honestly, that really Aaron Boone of the bullpen. Did I really miss out on anything?
Peter Rosenberg
You made the right. You made the right show. I defended you for taking that time off. I find it curious that there's another. Did I hear you going back to Europe?
Ty Butler
Yeah, one more time.
Peter Rosenberg
I tell you what, Ty. When I come back, if there's an afterlife when I come back, I'm coming back as Peter. Man. He's got a good thing going.
Ty Butler
Love you, buddy. Thanks.
Peter Rosenberg
Bye, guys.
Dave Rothenberg
Oh, man, he's awesome.
Ty Butler

I'm a fraud with a capital F.
Don Hahn
Is your friend a fraud?
Ty Butler
I have been a complete and utter fraud.
Don Hahn
Are you a fraud?
Alan Hahn
What is fraud?
Don Hahn
Let's ask Dom McGregor.
Peter Rosenberg
Screw.
Ty Butler
Go scratch yourself. What's flawed? Oh, that was fun with Dave Rothenberg. Hope you guys enjoyed that. Welcome to Fraud Friday. On this beautiful Friday, August 8th. Let's get right into it. You can send your emails to dhrespn. Sorry, dhrespnmail.com. i should say threspnmail.com. you know how Fraud Friday works, right?
Dave Rothenberg
Yeah.
Ty Butler
We'll rule. And we'll do our best to live in the way Don legreca would want us to. If you were. If he were still with us.
Dave Rothenberg
If. Has he passed?
Peter Rosenberg
No.
Ty Butler
On the show.
Dave Rothenberg
Okay. I thought something happened. No, no, no. About.
Ty Butler
No. Although I got to tell you, like, I. I think those guys are so done with me, I haven't heard a word.
Dave Rothenberg
Yeah, they. I'm telling you, once you left the group chat, that was it.
Ty Butler
And by the way, the. Here's the messed up part. I am completely confident that group chat is still active.
Dave Rothenberg
Yeah.
Ty Butler
And I'm just not in it.
Dave Rothenberg
I think it was a bit aggressive to start the morning with, guys, I don't think I can do this anymore. I'm out. And you just dip from the group chat. Could have been phrased differently. As we're learning this week, there are a lot of things that you say and do that can be presented.
Ty Butler
Or maybe what we're learning is that.
Dave Rothenberg
The world too soft.
Ty Butler
The world is really soft now. What was the line I said again, Anthony? I said, I can't do it. I'm out. Was that all I said?
Dave Rothenberg
I'll be honest, guys. I. I don't think I can do.
Ty Butler
Is that what it was?
Dave Rothenberg
I'm a be honest guy.
Ty Butler
Let's see. I want to love you guys, but.
Alan Hahn
I may leave this chat for a while. A normal person could do it, but I can't also make you also make fun of yourself.
Ty Butler
Right. But I didn't even give a warning of like, hey, guys, today's officially the first day of my vacation. No.
Alan Hahn
And then you left five seconds later.
Dave Rothenberg
And I'm telling you, bro, that Peter Rosenberg left the conversation part.
Ty Butler
Oh, it hits hard.
Dave Rothenberg
Super dramatic.
Ty Butler
No, I hit super hard. But by the way, I 100 did the right thing to leave both of the chats. I know I did. For me, it made a difference but that setup, like, I rushed so much. Like, why did I have to rush? I couldn't have, like, let people respond.
Dave Rothenberg
I just says, let them know, like, hey, once I leave, you know, once I go on paternity leave, I'll leave a chat. I'll be back in person conversation.
Ty Butler
I didn't know people would get so said.
Dave Rothenberg
This comes right after Anthony sends the long text.
Alan Hahn
The long text is strong. Now that's like a three sentence thing.
Ty Butler
Now this is, this is really like.
Alan Hahn
Hey, guys, Yankees lost, Mets win, NFL pinch. Peter's like, I'm out. I can't do that.
Ty Butler
I can't take it anymore.
Dave Rothenberg
I miss when it used to be longer.
Ty Butler
Thank you. We'll hear that at six o'.
Dave Rothenberg
Clock. You got to get back today.
Ty Butler
All right, guys. My name is Cade and I'm from Utah. As a kid growing up, I loved baseball and didn't really find another any other sport interesting. As I grew older, I started liking football and I gravitated towards the Kansas City Chiefs. Reason being because all that time, at that time, Alex Smith, Utah alum, which is the college I root for, was the starting quarterback, Andy Reid, Brigham Young University alum head coach. I didn't keep up with how the team was doing at the time that much. And when asked what's my favorite team, I would say something like the Chiefs. I guess as I got older, I watched them and kept up more and more and grew to like them more and more. Now with the dynasty, when people ask me who my team is, I tell them Chiefs boldly. And they tell me I'm a bandwagon fan. But I want to hear from you guys, am I a fraud Chiefs fan? I am going to rule, and I feel pretty confident Don would rule the same. No fraud.
Dave Rothenberg
You know what's challenging about this? It's not even the dynasty. It's the fact that when she started rooting for Kansas City, they were a perennial playoff team with Alex Smith. Now, the joke was they could not win a playoff game with him, but they were a perennial playoff.
Ty Butler
They were pretty good.
Dave Rothenberg
So that makes it difficult, but that.
Ty Butler
The Utah connection is strong and random. And who else would you root for coming from Utah, you know what I mean? All they did was adjust from the Chiefs, I guess, to Chiefs.
Dave Rothenberg
But now, now declaring it boldly when before was just like, you know, but he didn't go anywhere, I guess.
Ty Butler
Yeah, but you didn't go anywhere. Listen, it's. I'm not saying it's not close, but hit the gavel. I'm Going to go, no fraud. I'd be curious to bring that back for Don. I think it's a no fraud. Anthony, you agree Don would go, no fraud.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, that's kind of been the consistent. That's how he's kind of ruled on these types of matters recently.
Ty Butler
Here's one. A Victor writes us and says, hey, guys, I'm asking for a friend. I had my kids 28 years ago, and 22 years ago, we did not have paternity leave during that time. Can I retroactively take my paternity to leave now and qualify for two months of vacation?
Alan Hahn
I believe that's insurance fraud.
Dave Rothenberg
That's pretty good.
Ty Butler
That is fraud. All right.
Dave Rothenberg
By the way, hit the button.
Ty Butler
That's fraud.
Dave Rothenberg
Someone hit me up saying that they get six months of paternity leave. Manny Fresh.
Ty Butler
The whole paternity leave thing is funny because I totally would make fun of someone too, because you're just kind of, like, jealous and like, why are you leaving? But it was the best thing ever. And it's the idea. Like, If I was 22, if I was one of those interns who couldn't even stick around for a piece of cake, I would definitely not take months of paternity leave. But, guys, I'm not a spring chicken. I've been in the business for over 20 years. Like, it's time.
Dave Rothenberg
Okay, Because I was gonna ask you if Anthony has a baby and he decides he's taking a month off of paternity leave if you're not roasting him.
Ty Butler
Given that I know what the producers make in our business, if Anthony took anything less than the three months, I'd be so angry at him, I wouldn't speak to him.
Dave Rothenberg
Oh, okay. So you went the other way.
Ty Butler
The complete other way. These people in our industry, the non. The only people who are paid even half decently are talent, if you're lucky these days. So, no, I. If Anthony is lucky enough to have a child and he qualifies for that, you're a full time Disney employee, right?
Peter Rosenberg
Last I checked, yeah, you better take that.
Ty Butler
Three months, don't even come back and maybe spread it out.
Dave Rothenberg
He said, last I checked. Yeah, well, I mean, they'll switch it up on you.
Ty Butler
I don't think so.
Dave Rothenberg
I just knock you from full time.
Ty Butler
No, he doesn't know if he was fired today could all be over.
Alan Hahn
We have no idea.
Ty Butler
I mean, I can't believe I asked the interns. It's Anthony's birthday. You guys want to sing Happy Birthday? I was like, he's the best, right? He deserves it. They're like, oh, yeah, he's the best. That sounds great. I walk away. They literally just go. I just spit all over the thumbs down and walk out of the building.
Dave Rothenberg
I gotta show you the Chris Paul gift because.
Ty Butler
Yeah, that's what happened.
Dave Rothenberg
It's exactly what happened.
Ty Butler
All right. Good morning. Having grown up in the Bronx in the late 60s, I was 8 years old. Yeah, that's it. That was them. I was eight years old in 1970. There was never a doubt that I'd be a Yankee fan as well as, like my dad, a Rangers, Knicks and Giants fan. But while that precluded me from ever being a fan of the Mets in MLB, despite their wild popularity starting in 69 or later, the new Islanders, things got much murky given the existence of completely separate football and basketball leagues. So it was possible to root, for example, for both the NBA Knicks and the ABA Nets.
Dave Rothenberg
Yeah, that makes sense.
Ty Butler
The NFL Giants and the AFL Jets. The NHL Rangers and the wha Raiders Golden Blades. A team that. I couldn't tell you existed if you had a gun pointed at my face.
Dave Rothenberg
They could walk in here right now.
Ty Butler
With a jersey and I'd go, oh, cool. The Oakland Raiders made a hockey jersey. Good for them. That's cool, man. In the words of Don Lagreca, meeting Ed Crane pool as his cab driver, that's cool, man. You played for the Mets. By the time I was 10, I started gravitating to the new leagues. So when the merger started happening, although I rooted for both, I knew I had to choose my teams. Ultimately, I chose the Nets in basketball and the jets in football. He wrote great calls right there. So there was never a doubt who my four teams now were. But I also never had any reason for antipathy towards the Giants and Knicks and still follow them closely, while I obviously active rooted against the Mets and Islanders. So to this day, I have no trouble having a rooting interest for the Knicks and Giants. Over the years, once the Nets and Jets were out of contention, which obviously has been most of the time. Am I a fraud for never completely disavowing the Knicks and Giants once the leagues merged?
Dave Rothenberg
Yeah, fraud. Come on.
Ty Butler
By the way, I could never act against Buck Showalter after what he and Stick Michael did for the Yankees.
Dave Rothenberg
Stop it. Fraud.
Ty Butler
You're calling it right now.
Dave Rothenberg
Once the. What do you say? Once the the Nets and the jets are done, he's rooting for the Knicks and the Giants.
Ty Butler
If the Nets and Jets are out, he will pull for the Knicks and Giants because.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I agree.
Ty Butler
Everyone's in.
Dave Rothenberg
So 2022 he rooting for the Giants in that playoff game against both the Vikings and the Eagles.
Ty Butler
Yeah. Maybe that's why they lost so bad to the Eagles. Yes, Jacob.
Peter Rosenberg
And I mean I get it that he ate, you know, different leagues and everything, but according to Don, at some point in his life he had to choose.
Ty Butler
Yeah.
Dave Rothenberg
Yeah.
Ty Butler
And he still hasn't. He's a grown adult old man. He is not chosen. So hit the gavel again. Fraud.
Dave Rothenberg
There we go.
Ty Butler
That will do it for fraud. Friday on this Friday, August 8th dhrespnmail.com.

Ty Butler
Yes, please.
Dave Rothenberg
Time now for the weekend Weather Report brought to you by Schaeferhofer. A solid weather weekend tomorrow, Sunny, high of 83. Okay. Sunday, partly cloudy, high of 87. That was the weekend Weather Report brought to you by Schaefferhoffer Group. Here comes the happy, yo. The show is flying by, man.
Ty Butler
That's what good shows do.
Dave Rothenberg
Different shows.
Ty Butler
By the way, you think Lonnie from the company's gonna be mad that me and Dave made a Lonnie joke?
Dave Rothenberg
Nah, it's out of love.
Ty Butler
I know it is.
Dave Rothenberg
It's out of love.
Ty Butler
But do you think he's tight about it?
Dave Rothenberg
I don't think so. He can't be that sensitive. Lonnie's not gonna be sensitive. He knows how it goes, Radio man.
Ty Butler
To me, the cool part, the honor, is that, like, you get talked about when you're not even calling to the show.
Dave Rothenberg
Yeah, I would appreciate that. I can't be mad at Dave and Rosenberg, who obviously have some affection for Lonnie. You can't be mad at that.
Ty Butler
I wouldn't think so.
Dave Rothenberg
Afternoon drive getting. Getting a nice big up.
Ty Butler
By the way, I'm told it's pouring down here.
Dave Rothenberg
Right now, driving to this studio. Yeah, it started pouring on and it's back and I'm in a rental, so I got nervous. You know, you're always nervous driving a rental.
Ty Butler
No, I'm not.
Dave Rothenberg
Oh, really? No, I get excited.
Ty Butler
I was just driving a rental around France in the Alps.
Dave Rothenberg
I get nervous driving a rental.
Ty Butler
Why?
Dave Rothenberg
Because you just feel like, of course something would happen.
Ty Butler
I never looked in my.
Dave Rothenberg
I don't even know I should be saying this.
Ty Butler
It's not in your name.
Dave Rothenberg
It's not in my name.
Ty Butler
Oh, it's like your dad's. It's your father in law's rental.
Dave Rothenberg
Yeah. Feds might be tapped in.
Ty Butler
Fed's got a lot of free time, I guess. All right, let's. Let's get to this audio we have. This is some fascinating Stuff about your New York Yankees right now. Aaron Boone spoke. He was asked, will we see Stanton in the field?
Aaron Boone
Good chance you could see it tomorrow from ber. Going tomorrow for Houston. You know, we'll see how. Assuming today goes, he'll do some work out there today, and then the thought would be probably getting him out there tomorrow.
Ty Butler
Okay. And how has he looked so far, Stanton?
Dave Rothenberg
Good. Good.
Aaron Boone
And, you know, more importantly, like, when I talk to him, just how he thinks it's going and. And does he feel like he can go out there and be representative and stuff like that? Those are more of my conversations. And Gee's usually brutally honest in those situations, so I think he's feeling good about where he's at and the week he's had out there. Talking to Louie feels like it's gone better each time, so hopefully get through today and have it in play tomorrow.
Ty Butler
And lastly, how's he moving in the outfield?
Aaron Boone
Yeah, I should.
Peter Rosenberg
He.
Ty Butler
He.
Aaron Boone
Look, he's. He's. He's. He's always been a quality outfielder. It's just some range is going to be limited, obviously, but I do feel like he'll, you know, make the plays that need to be made.
Dave Rothenberg
Can we play the beginning of that cut one more time?
Aaron Boone
Yeah, I should.
Ty Butler
He.
Peter Rosenberg
He.
Aaron Boone
Look, he's. He's. He's always been a quality outfielder.
Ty Butler
Let me start. Stop it again.
Aaron Boone
He's going to be limited, obviously.
Ty Butler
Stop it again. Hold on. I'm gonna have you play it again. If, if, if, if. If your wife came up to you and said, where were you last night?
Aaron Boone
Yeah, look, he's. He's.
Peter Rosenberg
Excuse me.
Ty Butler
That's not what you want. That's not. No, listen. Well, look. Well. Hi. Hey. Hello. So we're gonna get some stand in the field. It looks like what? I like this. I think this is what you want.
Dave Rothenberg
I think there's a shelf life for this, probably. You watch him run, Anthony. You watch Stanton run to first base. You think that looks like a guy who could cover, like, significant real estate in the outfield?
Alan Hahn
What's really unfortunate is I think that Stanton would do anything for this team, and that includes play the outfield when I think he knows that his range isn't what it used to be. I don't anticipate this going spectacularly, put it that way.
Dave Rothenberg
My man started the season with tennis elbows. With tennis elbows. Hey, now he's good enough.
Ty Butler
Hey, look, listen, look.
Alan Hahn
And, you know, I clean up the audio. I left that in for a reason, people.
Ty Butler
Hey, hey, hold on. Let's all stop for a second. People play.
Dave Rothenberg
This is me. Hey, hang on. I want you to play the cut. This is me asking Rosenberg. Is ESPN his favorite of all the three jobs?
Aaron Boone
Yeah, I should.
Peter Rosenberg
He.
Ty Butler
He.
Aaron Boone
Look, he's. He's. He's all. He's.
Alan Hahn
Oh, yeah.
Dave Rothenberg
That's a tough one.
Ty Butler
That's a very. It's.
Dave Rothenberg
That's unfortunate. I don't see this going well. Guys. I don't mean to sound pessimistic.
Ty Butler
It's fair. You have every right to feel that way.
Dave Rothenberg
Dude who starts.
Ty Butler
How do you think it ends? God forbid. I'm sorry, but how do you think it ends? What's going to be the.
Dave Rothenberg
I don't want to wish injury upon him.
Ty Butler
We're not.
Dave Rothenberg
I think they see enough of him in the outfield where they know that this is just not going to work. We tried it, but I think a guy who starts the season on the injured list because he has tennis elbows and now he's fully healthy, you watch him try to run to first base and he can't do it. That doesn't sound like someone who over the next, what, 47 games is going to give you a lot in right now field just doesn't sound like for a team that thinks it could win a championship.
Ty Butler
I'll say this. I think you have to find a way to play him. If you believe this team can still do something if they want to pack in the season.
Dave Rothenberg
I agree with that.
Ty Butler
If you want to pack in the season, though, you're like, we're not doing it anyway. I'd rather protect him. Because guess what? You haven't.
Peter Rosenberg
He's.
Ty Butler
He's still on the team for 13 seasons. So if you want to protect Stanton, then you don't do it. But if you. They obviously are going to try to give it a go. And if you're going to give it a go, you got to play him in the field.
Dave Rothenberg
It's like the, like, what's the lesser of two evils? Judge with a flexor strain throwing the ball in right field or Stanton with all his issues trying to cover ground, you have no good options. It's almost like we want to petition to Rob Manford. Can we actually have two dhs? That'd be fun.
Ty Butler
That would be neat.
Dave Rothenberg
Yeah.
Ty Butler
Could you. Could. Could you play with two outfielders?
Dave Rothenberg
The Yankees already a bad defense. Let's remove one of the outfielders.
Ty Butler
It would be something like softball rules. You know, we play with eight. It's not a big deal.

Ty Butler passionately argues for generous paternity leave policies, reflecting on his personal experiences:

The hosts debate the merits and challenges of extended paternity leave, emphasizing the importance of family bonding and workplace flexibility.
Shifting gears to sports, the trio analyzes recent developments with the New York Yankees and manager Aaron Boone's decisions regarding player Stanton.
Aaron Boone discusses Stanton’s potential role:

Dave Rothenberg critiques Boone’s strategy with playful skepticism:

A caller named Cade from Utah questions whether his Kansas City Chiefs fandom is genuine or a "bandwagon" affair. The hosts, led by Peter and Dave, rule confidently:
"[37:54] Alan Hahn: Yeah, that's kind of been the consistent. That's how he's kind of ruled on these types of matters recently."
