Don Hahn
Don Han Rosenberg. 4:00 in the big city of New York Knicks. 1:1 with the Pistons.
Peter Rosenberg
Yuck.
Don Hahn
Got 6:00 devil hockey today. NHL trying to jam in ESPN trying to jam in four games. So they got a 6:00 face off.
Peter Rosenberg
6:00 tonight in rale.
Don Hahn
Yeah. Devil's gonna be the first team ever swept in three in the best of seven format. They're not.
Sam Morrell
They're that bad.
Peter Rosenberg
We always. That's the always thing. I always said that they'll be swept in three and in three and a third. The hockey was game four. First period series is over.
Don Hahn
Yeah. Just. They're spanged up.
Peter Rosenberg
No. No Luke Hughes tonight now.
Don Hahn
No.
Peter Rosenberg
So no Hughes's at all.
Don Hahn
It's just getting.
Peter Rosenberg
How about the rumor, by the way, that Quinn wants. Not rumor. I think it's actually a real thing. Didn't Jim Rutherford actually say acknowledge.
Don Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
That they were Quinn Hughes, the brother that's talented defenseman who plays out in Vanc. Very good. Made it clear he wants to play with his two brothers. And there's no way they're trading for two of them. No. I mean so he's probably going to end up in Jim Jersey.
Don Hahn
You do the math. It'll be easier for the Devils to acquire Quinn than Vancouver to acquire Jack and Luke. So it just feels like that's going to happen.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Luke.
Don Hahn
So I'm listening to the morning show on Monday.
Sam Morrell
All right.
Don Hahn
And they're talking about the draft. This is the one. And he. He's talking about that Nick volume is going to be down.
Peter Rosenberg
Down when?
Don Hahn
During the draft because he has to listen to the analysis. And I text something pretty blue to Rick about just how much Dave loves the draft. That was very blue. Exception to this.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
What is he saying about me?
Peter Rosenberg
I can't quote directly because I was in the midst of treetops. Is sort of like, you know, Just. You could tell he felt a certain way about you being critical of him and that you're that now, apparently I'm a bad guy because I care about football or something like that.
Don Hahn
Not about caring about football. But you're a Nick fan, so Ranger fan, Devil fan.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, but what is he a fan first?
Don Hahn
Listen, I.
Peter Rosenberg
Football fan number one.
Don Hahn
Fine. And if you want to turn down the Nick volume when the Giants draft, that kind of makes sense. You're a bigger Giant fan than you are a Nick fan.
Peter Rosenberg
Can I. Can I power rank his fandom?
Don Hahn
It's easy.
Sam Morrell
We can do it together.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Giants won by NFL 2.
Sam Morrell
Oh, you're saying before even Rangers or anything.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Oh, Rangers, please. Giants, NFL, Mets, Rangers, Rangers.
Don Hahn
I think Rangers ahead of Rangers.
Peter Rosenberg
Think college football, then Rangers.
Don Hahn
Because he was making his way into the Garden for the Ranger playoff games. I don't see him doing that for the Knicks.
Peter Rosenberg
No.
Don Hahn
So I think the Knicks are definitely for. But he says he's a fan.
Sam Morrell
What about Georgetown basketball?
Don Hahn
Ooh, that might be.
Peter Rosenberg
Not anymore.
Sam Morrell
That he still loves him, though.
Peter Rosenberg
Still. I find that hard to believe, I swear. Well, as bad as they've been.
Sam Morrell
Yeah.
Don Hahn
But if they're good, he would have them. Like, if they could win.
Sam Morrell
If they could win the Big east tournament.
Peter Rosenberg
Like, he might. He might not have 10 things that he likes. But the Knicks would be 10th.
Don Hahn
But not Giant. But. But here's the thing. If the Knicks are. The Giants are drafting third. So obviously I can understand if you just focus totally on that pick. I get it.
Peter Rosenberg
I'll have the top 10 on my phone job. Yeah.
Don Hahn
The analysis of the jets pick. Because that's even, you know, maybe more up in the air than the Giants. But for him to have the draft on full volume, the whole draft, and watch the Knicks with no volume.
Peter Rosenberg
So he's got draft. To me, draft is main screen.
Don Hahn
Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
And the Knicks will be like second screen with no volume.
Don Hahn
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
So you're just watching with just.
Don Hahn
And I'm just putting myself in that case. Now, listen, baseball, I get. It's April.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
So if you want to put the draft over an April baseball game. But we're talking about one of your favorite teams in the playoffs.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
And Thursday is going to be a pivotal game three of a series that tied at one. Now, in all fairness, he said that when it was one. Oh. But it didn't seem like it was going to matter where the series would be for game three. I just find that odd. I.
Peter Rosenberg
Do you find it fraudulent.
Don Hahn
Well, because you could follow the Draft. You don't even need a TV to follow the draft. Listen, ESPN is going to do a phenomenal job. Or abc.
Peter Rosenberg
Excuse me. As well.
Don Hahn
But you just need to see who's picking who. Yeah, the analysis. That's all we've gotten for three months is analysis.
Peter Rosenberg
If you don't know the player by now, what are we doing exactly.
Don Hahn
And then obviously you're going to want to read the quotes and everything after when Shane speaks and Dable speaks about whoever the draft pick is. And then eventually you're going to want to hear about the draft pick. I get that. But to take live playoffs of one of your favorite teams and devalue it. To watch. And the analysis of the draft. The draft. I'm very. I'm not like Peter. I'm interested in the draft. I do think we go a little crazy. But I do care where everybody goes and I do care to finally get resolution on everything that we've been talking about for the last three months. But I could follow on the computer who was taken. I love Mel. I've heard Mel's talked about everybody. Do I really hear. Need to hear Mel. Tell me why the Giants selected Hunter or whoever they end up taking.
Sam Morrell
Let me. Let me.
Don Hahn
Carter, I'll say this.
Sam Morrell
I'll say this. I'll give. I'm going to give the draft a little extra credit this year for jets and Giants fans on account of the fact that you both have high picks and you really don't know where they're going. That is more interesting than a lot of drafts.
Peter Rosenberg
We haven't talked a lot of jets, but there really is a lot of unknown. The jets have been very quiet. There has been a lot of leaks about their interest and what they're going to do.
Don Hahn
Seven is not as sexy as three.
Peter Rosenberg
And there really isn't anything. They're sexy and, you know, they're not looking for anything like in positions that'll really blow your mind.
Sam Morrell
But it is.
Peter Rosenberg
But the offensive lineman is kind of boring until you see him play.
Don Hahn
And then if he's good, the Giants take. And it's not going to be Sanders, but just throw Sanders out there. If it's Sanders, it's Hunter or Carter. That's dead sexy.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, yeah. Star power, right?
Sam Morrell
I mean, if they did.
Don Hahn
If they did, the Giants pick will be sexy. It's going to be one of those two guys. I don't think it's going to be Sanders.
Peter Rosenberg
It's funny you say if they did because there are now suggestions that the Giants might not even Keep that pick at 3. Listen to our good friend Peter Schrager. Schrags from get up this morning who said the number two and number three pick, people are calling about them.
Shefty
There have been phone calls made to both the Browns at 2 and the Giants at 3 with the intent intention to move up from several different sources telling me there are teams who are looking to get up in this draft to either the 2 or the 3 spot. The assumption being to move up to the 2 or the 3 spot. It would be 4. Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter or the running back Ashton Genty, who everyone expects to go. Somewhere in that 5 to 7 to 8 range, there have been teams making calls and those teams are not immediately slamming down the phone. The Browns at 2, the Giants at 3. Everyone assumes it's going to be chalk that this is going to go Cam Ward, it's going to go Travis Hunter, going to go Abdul Carter. Not so fast. I think the 2 spot gets very interesting if the Browns are listening to a Godfather deal for them to trade back and someone to trade up into the top three.
Peter Rosenberg
Godfather deal, you know, an offer they can't refuse.
Don Hahn
I, I think it's a nothing burger just in the sense that it would be irresponsible for a general manager like Joe Shane not to take phone calls.
Peter Rosenberg
On the see who might get get goofy.
Don Hahn
Now, Tennessee could say no because we want Ward. We're not going to be talking talking off a Ward, so we're not answering the phone. But Cleveland at 2, there isn't a package out there where they could say, all right, you know what, we're not going to take Hunter or Carter. We're going to just get a slew of picks. If it's like a Herschel Walker type deal and the Giants the same thing. Like I want Carter, I want Hunter. But if somebody is going to just offer me the moon and stars, I've got a ton of holes on my team. I want to listen because I don't want to find out later on that you were going to offer me something with a blowing me away. So that's why I take every phone call. Okay, so I think we're reading a little bit too much into the Giants are trading the three pick as they're taking phone calls. Definitely always take the phone call right when they say untouchables. Yeah, there's certain players you would never trade, but that doesn't mean you don't pick up the phone when it rings. Always do that. You never know what the offer is going to be like. I'VE got no intention of ever trading Jalen Brunson. That'd be ridiculous. But if somebody's gonna offer me their entire franchise, I want to make sure that I answer the phone when it rings. So don't you think this has taken a little bit to the extreme that we're getting close to the draft? Everybody wants to get some kind of hittable story.
Peter Rosenberg
I think it shows you, though, that they aren't locked in. Cleveland's not locked at two with who they want. Like, they're locked to Jason, like, him and no one else. And we know we're getting him, so don't even bother calling us.
Don Hahn
Well, Cleveland's interesting because if you're going to go into the assumption that Ward's going one.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
Then they're kind of like it, de facto first pick. Like, all right, we're going to have our choice of Hunter or. But don't you still take the phone call if somebody.
Peter Rosenberg
Not if. Not if you think, like, if you have Cleveland and you know that Hunter is a special generational talent who's going to do things. He's a unicorn. Is going to do things in the league we haven't seen before. This is our guy. We need this guy. No, I'm not. I'm not taking.
Don Hahn
But you can't tell me that there isn't as much as you might believe that Carter or Hunter. Probably Carter for Cleveland. Right? Because it seems like they're talking about Hunter for Cleveland. Yeah, but. But the whole thing that they see him more as a wide receiver than a corner.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, but it always sounded like they were locked in there.
Don Hahn
I don't know what's locked into what, but whatever. Hunter, Carter. Okay, let's say they get a phone call, say, listen, dude, I want Carter so bad. I'm going to give you the five years of first round picks. You're going to say no to that?
Peter Rosenberg
No, no.
Sam Morrell
Not only that, we'll take Deshaun Watson's contract.
Don Hahn
That sounds. How about that mental institution stuff? But just in case of the mental patient calls, you want to take the.
Sam Morrell
Call, you got to take the call.
Don Hahn
Because you don't want to find out later on that some rogue intern grabbed the phone and said, we'll take his contract. And you would have had to accept that it's a binding contract. And then you say, boy, I wish I answered the phone. That's why. Don't you think it's silly?
Peter Rosenberg
I guess so. But it is interesting. All right, how about that?
Don Hahn
Nothing's more sexy than a trade on Draft day. Honestly, everybody, when Roger Goodell goes to the bike and says, we have a trade, I mean, it's fur. They're furries. People are starting to put on costumes.
Sam Morrell
It gets that crazy.
Peter Rosenberg
This is going to become a thing. All right, well, what about what Shrag says about the Giants and their quarterback preference? Because we all agree wherever. Where? Whenever. Wherever. They're going to take a quarterback in this draft. Yes. Do we all agree there?
Don Hahn
I don't know that they're going to.
Peter Rosenberg
Take a quarterback somewhere, I guess. You don't think they're going to need to?
Don Hahn
Well, they may need to, but the Giants, the only.
Sam Morrell
That's weird about that.
Don Hahn
Yes.
Sam Morrell
Yes. But I just keep going. Then why did you get two in the.
Don Hahn
They went from. All we have is the veto. They got to fill the room.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, but you can move off. You can move off those deals. Either one of them anyways.
Sam Morrell
But it's still weird to.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, well, if you agree or disagree with me, that's my only way of setting up this quote.
Sam Morrell
All right, cool.
Peter Rosenberg
If you don't mind, let me just continue.
Don Hahn
Either way, I get to the radio guy. I'm sorry, here's Shreg's talking about the.
Peter Rosenberg
Giants and they might prefer Jackson Dart over Shador Sanders.
Shefty
There's some buzz locally here in New York about Jackson Dart being the preferred quarterback to Shador Sanders in the Giants organization. I would say this. If the Giants were to trade back into the first or to trade back and take Dart over Sanders, understand they have done their work on Dart 2. There was a lot of news that Shador Sanders was getting another visit and they've been to 13. People went to the pro day. Take a look at these facts right here. They've done as much work and has been in the building and all Miss as much as they have for Shador Sanders. Furthermore, Joe Shane has a kid at Ole Miss, so he's been there and around that program plenty. Eli Manning has the Ole Miss connection. Do you know who an analyst for Ole Miss is right now? Joe Judge is an analyst at Ole Miss. So you've got people there. And then Charlie Weiss Jr. Is the one calling the plays.
Sam Morrell
And if you look his history, Charlie.
Shefty
And D through the Belichick Tree connections as well.
Don Hahn
He started grabbing. He started grabbing.
Peter Rosenberg
I love.
Don Hahn
And at some point he just wasn't looking. Because if you're grabbing judges believe the Giants. If Joe Judge told them something, they'd be like, we're going to do the opposite. Okay, Judge was not good. Here you Know fired him.
Peter Rosenberg
That's the only one. Like, if you were, you'd be John Mary, you ready? Like, you know, Eli Manning went there. You know, Joe. Joe's. Joe's got a child that. Oh, missing. He's been around there, too. You know who the analyst is on there? Joe Judge?
Sam Morrell
Tucker.
Don Hahn
Frederick. No, no, no. Joe Judge. Yeah. Oh, that'd be a reason why now they're not gonna. Yeah, but again, I'm not. I don't want to get.
Sam Morrell
He's.
Don Hahn
He's a new teammate. But you just. You start. Start grabbing groceries and then, you know, all of a sudden you just grab the box of the pens and then you. You get home and you unpack the bed. I was like, why did I grab the pens? Didn't even thinking. Then you realize I'm 57. You never know. When you filed away in the gloss.
Peter Rosenberg
I love shrugs. That was. That was. That was. That was a bridge too far, too.
Don Hahn
But, you know, he got caught.
Sam Morrell
Yeah. We all have our moment.
Peter Rosenberg
He got a lot of momentum going, and then he just got all into it and he just said something. Nah, let's see.
Don Hahn
You know, one of the kids toys got in the vacuum.
Peter Rosenberg
You didn't think that one out. Is Sal Palatonio somebody we want to hear about when I love Sal Pal too. Sanders. Shador Sanders. Is he worth it for the Giants?
Sam Morrell
I think the likelihood of that happening is not very likely.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't see teams going up and paying the kind of draft capital to.
Sam Morrell
The Giants that would be necessary for the Giants to move out. And why do I say that? It's because anybody who's looked at this draft and we've looked at it at the NFL matchup show at films, is.
Peter Rosenberg
Really about five to six guys who in my view, have blue chip kind of grades. And if you're telling me the Giants.
Sam Morrell
Have an opportunity to get Abdul Carter, who I think is the best player in this draft. I mean, Cam Ward to me is the best quarterback, but Carter to me.
Peter Rosenberg
Should be the first pick.
Sam Morrell
I mean, it's tough to pass on Shador Sanders, but to me, it'll be.
Peter Rosenberg
Professional malpractice to pass on Abdul Carter.
Don Hahn
He could have went malfeasance, but that's not the way Sal operates.
Peter Rosenberg
Malpractice.
Don Hahn
Now, that's logic. That's a pro.
Peter Rosenberg
That's. That's what Sal brings though, that.
Don Hahn
Sal's great.
Peter Rosenberg
He just gives it to you straight.
Don Hahn
He's a Philly guy, but we look past that.
Peter Rosenberg
No, remember, he is Long Island. Well, he's all born and raised Long Island.
Don Hahn
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, he's all Philly now, but still.
Don Hahn
Well, he's a big Yankee fan.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes. Yeah, we definitely love to talk about that. How about some jets news? We don't talk enough jets draft stuff.
Sam Morrell
Well, that's because we like ratings.
Don Hahn
Go ahead.
Sam Morrell
Wow.
Peter Rosenberg
How dare you.
Sam Morrell
I'm sorry.
Don Hahn
I mean. No, it's a very bold day.
Sam Morrell
Well, after that, I mean, think about it. At this point in time, you think there's a really just. If we're just being honest, how active and passionate do you feel the jets fans about the draft this year? Honestly?
Don Hahn
They're broken.
Sam Morrell
They're broken guys. They're listening to podcast, they're listening to Call Her Daddy.
Don Hahn
They're out there.
Sam Morrell
I have not met one person, jets fan, who go, oh my God. I'm really sitting by because this is going to be the year we figure things out. You got the greatest quarterback of all time and it turned into a two year meltdown. Of nothingness. Nothing good can happen on draft day. Nothing can change.
Don Hahn
But they do have the seventh pick and that's what it is.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, you can get a set up for disappointment. You can get a lineman that is not, that's not sexy. But a year or two from now, he could become like part of, you know, five blocks of granite that turn into a great offensive line.
Sam Morrell
And to protect the quarterback who's not born yet.
Peter Rosenberg
Exactly. Who's in fifth grade right now. Right.
Don Hahn
That's so depressing. Let's get the O line to build.
Sam Morrell
A quarterback we haven't found.
Peter Rosenberg
Right, right. You have your quarterback and you have your 43 year old tackle who you drafted back in 2024, waiting for the.
Sam Morrell
Kid to grow up.
Don Hahn
You got four Jackie Slaters when finally, finally they draft the quarterback.
Peter Rosenberg
Jackie, it's so sad. Here's Shefty saying the jets are cleaning this operation up.
Alan Hott
There has been in my mind a concerted effort by this team to, as Aaron Glenn said at the owner's meetings, move in silence. An organization that's had a lot of leaks in recent years has made it a point to make sure there are no leaks. I reported that Tyler Warren, the great Penn State titan, had a private workout for the jets at their facility. Not like it's some groundbreaking piece of information, don't get me wrong, but took steps to make sure that didn't even get out. We didn't know that until yesterday that he came through there and we're hearing about visits all the time, right? Oh, this guy went there this Guy went there. This team's visit, this guy. Haven't heard anything about the Jets.
Peter Rosenberg
It's been quiet. Sorry. So Tyler Warren, tight end. You could use a good tight end. He's supposed to be a talented blocker and receiver. So will the jets take him? Shefty says he doesn't think so.
Alan Hott
The one thing that worries me about pegging Tyler Warren to the jets is that the pack has Tyler Warren going to the jets in the pack. And these mock drafts usually is not right. Sometimes they hit, but usually you go against the grain. And I could see the jets being an offensive lineman. I could see them being, you know, a key defensive player. Tyler Warren is going to be a great player. Maybe he's the pick, but too many people have forecasted it. So I'm not. I'm going to say it's not going to happen.
Peter Rosenberg
Shots fired there on the mock draft. Industry good.
Don Hahn
I'm with them.
Sam Morrell
I get it.
Peter Rosenberg
But it doesn't normally happen.
Sam Morrell
The only difference for me is I have the same feeling about the real draft. Real draft, mock draft. It's all bad.
Don Hahn
Well, listen, I get. I admire.
Peter Rosenberg
Why is the real draft bad?
Sam Morrell
I have no interest. I said I love this job. Okay.
Peter Rosenberg
How you build your.
Sam Morrell
And I'm here to. And I'm here to talk sports with you guys anytime you want. The draft is sports adjacents. It's all theoretical. Like even when I've cared most about a draft. Right. Don? I've heard a lot of people talk about like, well, maybe the Giants go get, you know, another great defensive lineman.
Peter Rosenberg
Right?
Sam Morrell
Build that build up front. I watched my team draft Alabama stud on the line after Alabama settled the line one after another, you know, whatever happened, nothing. Half of them don't work out. Chase Young was a sure thing, wasn't he?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, he's gone.
Don Hahn
You guys killed me for my take on the Giants should tank that game against the Reds to get him.
Sam Morrell
Yeah, Don, you were you. You had to know he was.
Don Hahn
He was a guarantee.
Sam Morrell
He was a lock. He's going to change your team. All of it is just. I guess I've just learned from my team being bad for so long with the amount of drafts I was told to care about.
Don Hahn
No, I get it.
Sam Morrell
It's just. I just. They rarely add up to anything.
Don Hahn
But. But it is strange though.
Peter Rosenberg
At least entirely true though.
Don Hahn
But.
Peter Rosenberg
But to say they rarely add up to it.
Sam Morrell
It requires so many years and so many different events and acquisitions other places. It's just so many things that have to happen. Like nothing mass. How Often does something happen in one draft night? I guess it happened for me last year.
Peter Rosenberg
I was just going to say that.
Sam Morrell
It happened for me.
Peter Rosenberg
How could you possibly sit there and tell me how the draft is meaningless when it literally changed the fortunes of your sad, sorry franchise?
Sam Morrell
Because last year, when going into the draft, I don't know if you remember this, Don. We were talking about who they. The commanders could get. I looked at the tape of all the guys that. At the top, and I saw Jayden Daniels, and I went, that's the one. I like Jayden Daniels. He looks like the best one. I hope they get him. And that's it. But that's all. That's all I put into it. You know why? Because it's a complete crapshoot with all of them. And you don't know until you get.
Don Hahn
There and see, that's the fun of it. But I.
Sam Morrell
But the payoff isn't for months. It's just that. That's the thing. It's like, Don, the idea of Dave Rothenberg sitting there, you know, with movement, so excited about what happens that night.
Peter Rosenberg
Not just movement.
Sam Morrell
It's more than movement.
Peter Rosenberg
Bluetooth, he's all in. Yeah, there's no movement.
Don Hahn
He has to call the dock and actually see the movement from space.
Sam Morrell
But. But the payoff is so long down the road or. But that's part of being a fan.
Don Hahn
But you're part of the build drafts. I've done the draft for ESPN Radio locally. We'd go to. We would go to Hooters or whatever, and we'd break it down, and I do all the work, and there'd be guys that I want, and I'd flip out when the Giants didn't get that player. And then by the time the season started, I forget where that player went. Right. You never know what ended up happening to that player. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. We get all worked up in it because people care that much about football. You're trying to break it down into the essence of why you're being Michael K right now. Michael k. Watched the 77 World Series final out, and he said, all right, my team won a World Series. What's in it for me? And, like, kind of stop being a fan at that point, because you sit there and you analyze it go, well, really? I watch my team win. They win the championship. I don't get to hold the trophy. I don't get a check. I don't get to be in the parade satisfaction. And then five minutes later, we're worried about what happens next year. Well, that's true, but don't break it down. Don't take the fun out of it.
Peter Rosenberg
That's a problem.
Don Hahn
Something that you want you. If you really want to. If you really want to break down sports, you probably would end up losing interest in it because you'd be like, really? How does that move my life? It moves your life because it just happens to move your life.
Peter Rosenberg
It's a hobby.
Don Hahn
And to those are people that the draft moves them. You're breaking it down to what are you bothering for? You're not going to remember. Half these guys are. Half these guys aren't going to work out. You're literally taking the fun out of it. Yeah, but all I know is on Thursday, that draft, when you combine the NFL Network, ESPN and will crush any playoff game like tonight, the sporting event.
Sam Morrell
That I'm thinking about at this particular moment is Lakers t Wolves tonight. That's something I'm excited to see. I want to see how LeBron responds.
Peter Rosenberg
Because that's immediate satisfaction.
Sam Morrell
That's immediate satisfaction. And by the way, not only that, and it's characters who I know who I'm invested in. I know who they are. I don't know these characters. In fact, I just went back and looked at who everyone. The commanders drafted last year. Half of them had an impact in my life. The other half, I don't even remember that we got them. And some of which I don't know if they're even still on the team.
Peter Rosenberg
This feels a lot like something you can't take.
Sam Morrell
You know what? It's one of the great segues we've ever heard for. Can't take it Tuesday coming up next.
Don Hahn
Wow.
Sam Morrell

Sam Morrell
Oh, yeah, baby. I can trigger it Tuesday. Don Han and Rosenberg. So many different things to choose from.
Peter Rosenberg
You were on one just a minute ago, but you can't take.
Sam Morrell
Well, listen, I just said this off the air, okay? I admit it. There's a chance that in the coming years of my life, I'll get a renewed interest in college football because they have finally started to develop a playoff system that makes sense. We're getting somewhere. Don, for my whole life, you were telling me I'm supposed to care about this sport. They all play a random schedule. Here's how college football works. First half of the year, play schools no one's ever heard of, right? With lots of techs and states and A and M's and then that you.
Peter Rosenberg
Don'T even know directional schools they Northwest.
Sam Morrell
South, Northwest South A and M State. Exactly. Oh, yeah. So that's the first half of the season, Don. And the teams that are good, they win those games by 50 points, right? Every game they're favored on the board. Minus 41. That's the first half of college football. Second half, they play meaningful Games. And then in the end, what do they do? Oh, we have these things called bowl games. Oh, really? How's that work? I don't know. There's sponsors. There's 50 of them, and they air over the course of five days. And Don, that would be how the season ends. Now. There's a bowl system in place. That makes sense. There's a college football playoff. That could get me interested, maybe over time. But I'm sorry, I can't take it with my friends who are such draft nerds that they're desperate to get together and do something major. For four days of watching analysis of the draft, I. I cannot take it. And I love every Sunday of the regular season through the playoffs. I am in. I'm watching Thursday, for the most part. I'm watching all weekend. 9, 30, dependent. I'm watching every 1:00, 4:00, 8:00. There is. I'm in. But I got NBA playoffs right now. There was an Unbelievable Raw after WrestleMania last night. I have a lot. I have a brand new baby. I have a life to deal with. I'm not giving you 12 hours to hear analysis of, by the way, guys, I only have an interest in hearing about three teams. My wonderful Washington commanders and the two godforsaken teams that play in this town. Besides that, what do I care? I care about who the Dolphins are getting. I'm going to find out. We're going to get there. I can't take the draft anymore. Can we please get through this weekend and move on with our lives? It's like. I mean, sports is already nerdy, but the draft is like. I mean, it's like the Dungeons and Dragons of sports. I mean, seriously, put your protractor down and come back to me. Go look at a woman, for God's sake.
Don Hahn
Or a man.
Sam Morrell
Whatever you're interested in. Whatever.
Don Hahn
A furry.
Peter Rosenberg
A furry.
Sam Morrell
Whatever it is that does something for you. But for God's sake, something besides the draft. Thank you.
Peter Rosenberg
That was. That was.
Sam Morrell
I'm done.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, that's.
Sam Morrell
So we're here for.
Peter Rosenberg
That's how you do it.
Sam Morrell
That's how you're supposed to do it.
Peter Rosenberg
That's how you do. Can't take Tuesday, don't you.
Sam Morrell
Do you. You want to go next, don't you? Because going after Don's a scary thought always.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, it is. Yeah. Let Don be the closer.
Sam Morrell
Exactly.
Peter Rosenberg
Mine is. It's kind of petty.
Sam Morrell
Okay.
Peter Rosenberg
And it's going after our company.
Don Hahn
I love it.
Peter Rosenberg
So I'm gonna tread lightly. But it's because I'm an avid user of the ESPN app. Not the ESPN New York app, now the espn, the main one. One Tap One app. Big deal, right? We did a spot for it, the whole thing. And so when you spend a lot of time commuting like I do on the train subways, you catch up on a lot of things. Sports One Tap One app. Right?
Sam Morrell
Sure. Easy.
Peter Rosenberg
And so they have a great feature that has a lot of content that you might have missed if you didn't have a chance to consume all of their shows in the morning that I sometimes am on.
Sam Morrell
So you want to watch yourself is what you're saying? No, no.
Peter Rosenberg
Myself, I'm just saying people that I want to hear from. So I'll give you the list. Stephen A. Smith, Bucks Pacer series special with Dame now playing in game two.
Sam Morrell
Oh, he's officially in. Yeah, so I heard probably it is.
Peter Rosenberg
A video right now It's a minute 28. I ought to tap on it. You know what happens? 30 second commercial. Yeah, but that's all right because I watch it get through it. Now I got 90 seconds of content. Great. Next one up, Jason Kidd, proud of mavericks after season ending loss. That's 38 seconds long. Can I get right to it? No, you know why? 30 second commercial. The same one I just watched. Peter. Same one.
Sam Morrell
All right, back to back.
Peter Rosenberg
I'll fight through it because I just want to get some content. Next one. Davion Mitchell buries dagger three in overtime, clinches eighth seed for the Heat. 24 seconds. Guess what? 30 second commercial. Do you see the pattern? It'll make it crazy.
Sam Morrell
I know you'll sit there and you'll.
Peter Rosenberg
Go, I just watched this. I don't know what that product is. It has no use to me. I don't have whatever that symptom is for this pill that these people need to take. That, by the way, I could, I memorized now all of the side effects and they sound really scary. So even if I had that affliction, I'm not taking that pill.
Sam Morrell
It didn't work.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm not doing it because I don't want whatever that is that they told me about that I'm about to Google now because it's a scary sounding word, but I fight through again, the third one.
Sam Morrell
No, you didn't do it.
Peter Rosenberg
No, because I want content. Air Morant takes flight for a ridiculous put back slam.
Sam Morrell
Oh, that's great because you just want to see a jam, just highlight. Well, that's it. They'll hit play and you'll just see.
Peter Rosenberg
The 38 seconds long is all that is. All right, 30 second commercial.
Sam Morrell
30 second commercial.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm done. I'm out.
Don Hahn
It's out.
Peter Rosenberg
So now am I one tap, one app, or am I. Let me just go to YouTube. I'll watch it there, because what am I doing here?
Sam Morrell
Well, there you're gonna fight through commercials up top.
Don Hahn
At least you get one commercial and you could skip something.
Peter Rosenberg
You can go through it. You can get through this. It's like you are trapped in the vortex of commercial.
Sam Morrell
I know.
Peter Rosenberg
And it's the same brand. Can't take it. I love espn. I love the checks I get.
Sam Morrell
Yeah. Love the content.
Peter Rosenberg
I love the app.
Sam Morrell
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
I can't take the constant commercial. Constant. Can I get credit? I won.
Sam Morrell
Tapped, right.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm in.
Sam Morrell
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
One commercial. All right, I'll get through it. I'll fight through it. The brand needs to get some money. I get it. But if I got to watch that over.
Sam Morrell
No it's ever over and over. You would think the one commercial would be enough to get you a few watches.
Peter Rosenberg
You know, I love Home Depot, but if I watch another Home Depot, you know, I'm going to Lowe's just out of spite.
Sam Morrell
I like, I like.
Don Hahn
I like the reverse commercial.
Peter Rosenberg
So anyways, Don. I can't take it.
Sam Morrell
Don.
Don Hahn
I've had a very toxic relationship for the last 25 years.
Sam Morrell
Oh, no. This isn't where I thought we were going with DirecTV.
Don Hahn
Oh.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, yeah. Here we go.
Don Hahn
What'd you feel? You know, losing the signal when it snows, when there's a gentle breeze. If I break wind in the backyard, I keep hearing Marco go, why is it glitchy? I don't know why it's glitchy. You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna reset. It's a nice little simple button that, over the last 25 years, hadn't changed. You hit the little red button and DirecTV resets. Screen turns blue, gives you a message, and it goes through its process, which for 25 years has taken 15 minutes. Why does it take 15 minutes? 25 years of evolution. We've done a lot in this world in 25 years. Still takes 15 minutes.
Peter Rosenberg
High speed Internet.
Don Hahn
I've changed. I've now got, like, the different technology I've upgraded. More memory, more room, newer systems.
Peter Rosenberg
Same 15 minutes.
Don Hahn
Same 15 minutes and the same message three minutes into the 15 minutes. Almost done. Always says, almost done, Peter, every single effin time. And it still takes an additional 12 minutes. And never in the next 12 minutes. Does it tell you that you're anywhere close to being done? But the first three minutes it gives a specific message with an exclamation point.
Peter Rosenberg
Almost done.
Don Hahn
Almost done. And every time like a complete SAP. I think that maybe this is the one time where the message will actually be accurate and that I'll be able to view my games and my shows. It's so sad. I gotta get rid of DirecTV, but I just can't.
Sam Morrell
Why can't you let go?
Don Hahn
Why can't you quit it? Because the process just seems like it'll be the biggest pain in the butt.
Peter Rosenberg
What is your alternative?
Sam Morrell
Tons. Every.
Don Hahn
You know, they put the vaios thing in the fios.
Peter Rosenberg
I highly recommend.
Don Hahn
I love my BIOS highly with these systems.
Peter Rosenberg
Just throw it in the trash.
Don Hahn
What do I do? No, I gotta go. Is anybody gonna go up on the roof and take the satellite off? Or I'm gonna have to climb and kill my.
Peter Rosenberg
Let me be the furry sitting next.
Sam Morrell
To Peter on the plane.
Peter Rosenberg
Let me be the furry sitting next to Peter on the plane. Don, I invite you. I invite you to join us. Fiber optic Verizon fios.
Sam Morrell
Oh, yeah, baby. I'm a big fios.
Peter Rosenberg
I got thumbs up in the control room. We got some FiOS, people.
Don Hahn
I fought it for the longest time. It's a cult. That used to be my only access to the NFL Sunday ticket.
Sam Morrell
No more.
Don Hahn
But over the last couple of years.
Sam Morrell
Oh, they found other ways to rip you off.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Out.
Sam Morrell
They can charge you $500 so many different ways now.
Don Hahn
Now I listen. I'm not. I think there's always problems with everything. But this relationship is toxic.
Peter Rosenberg
It's over.
Don Hahn
Every toxic relationships ends poorly. This is gonna end poorly for me.
Peter Rosenberg
I almost feel like. Like you, you. You like being abused.
Don Hahn
Like you want me to do that or just you want the aggravation of having to.
Peter Rosenberg
You're hopeful.
Don Hahn
Switch. Now this started.
Peter Rosenberg
It sucks.
Don Hahn
Once this goes again. I literally. It's been more than 25 years. I had NFL Sunday ticket and center ice package in 97. That's how long I've had direct television.
Peter Rosenberg
You know it.
Don Hahn
And in 06 when I moved, remember they used to have the commercials? Oh, how simple it is. It's called direct tv. I can plug her in. They could come right to your house, move from your apartment to your house. Simple. I should have done it then in 2006 I did. I called him. All right, we'll be. How's next month? But I just moved in yesterday. You're telling me I'M gonna go without television for a month. Yeah, we're a little backed up. Yeah, a little. Just told them, I'll back you up. But instead I. You're right. I think I just enjoy the. I enjoy not only having my wife cheat on me, watching it happen. Because that's what it is with DirecTV at this point. It's like watching your wife with another man and you're forced to watch it.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh my God.
Don Hahn
That's the relationship. Don't now you. If you want to give it to me for free for the rest of my life, I'll live with it. But until then, I think I got to make the change. But maybe I just enjoy.
Peter Rosenberg
Maybe I think we need to get you out.
Don Hahn
Maybe I meet other people. Sitting on the stretcher watching my wife.
Peter Rosenberg
Wow.
Don Hahn
Be with another guy.
Sam Morrell
Well, by the way, there are people who like that.
Peter Rosenberg
He's like Richard right now, just talking right through our senses.
Sam Morrell
No matter what we say.
Don Hahn
I thought it was my time.
Sam Morrell
Well, yeah, it ends at some point.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, we're trying to help you get to a. Put a period at the end of the sentence. He's now.
Sam Morrell
Because now you want to.
Peter Rosenberg
That was the brain too far.
Don Hahn
That was the bridge too far.
Sam Morrell
It's like watching your wife another man.
Don Hahn
What else is it? By the five years of almost done, by the way. And 25 years of its glitchy. Oh, there's it's raining now you're watching standard death.
Peter Rosenberg
Why don't you just get fios man?
Sam Morrell
Move on, man. If it's in your neighborhood, get by.
Peter Rosenberg
The way, it's free commercial for Verizon fios right now. I know.
Sam Morrell
Well, you know, they're advertising right now, by the way. They have a deal.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Sam Morrell
That if you get them now, it's a locked in price for three years guaranteed.
Peter Rosenberg
Come on.
Sam Morrell
They won't raise the price on.
Peter Rosenberg
Would you like a three year guaranteed contract commercial?
Don Hahn
Right. He's Pete Davidson's doing.
Sam Morrell
And guess what? So is Pete ROSENBERG over on Hot 97.
Peter Rosenberg
There you go. I don't tell you all about it. Promo code.
Don Hahn
Well, thank you for letting me get that.
Sam Morrell
No, you deserved it. And by the way, and Ballard texted me, two things bother me. Number one, I think the first one, he's just being that guy. But everyone does do this. Whenever I point out something I don't like the response of you like professional wrestling is not a fair response. I know. I do. I love it. I think it's an amazing and entertaining art form. It has nothing to do with The NFL draft, which I think is boring and repetitive and nerdy and stupid, saying.
Don Hahn
Yo, but guess what?
Sam Morrell
You like wrestling. That doesn't change how I feel about the draft. And then he followed it up by saying, the draft is like Christmas morning. If the draft is Christmas morning, what's the opening Sunday of the NFL season?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, the Christmas morning thing is tough because a lot of times people end up with coal.
Sam Morrell
Well, yeah, exactly. He's going, you get new toys. Oh, yes. Some of them are good toys. Some of them are crap that you're never gonna play with.
Don Hahn
Yeah. You know what getting the offensive lineman is like getting clothes.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Sam Morrell
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Or socks and underwear.
Don Hahn
You need it.
Peter Rosenberg
No.
Don Hahn
And you. You have to have it. You don't get excited opening.
Sam Morrell
Oh, my God, guys, I opened the best present ever. I can't believe it. Oh, my mom. You got me Evan Neal. Oh, my God, What a gift.
Don Hahn
Finally.
Sam Morrell
And then it's gonna be so great.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
Evan Neal is Don't fit.
Sam Morrell
Exactly.
Peter Rosenberg
And eventually a rant of just being mad at the gift.
Don Hahn
That was ass.
Sam Morrell
There are a lot.
Don Hahn
There's all the wrestling. People came out and drove last night. I. I sent out a poll last night because I was wearing out my remote control last night. I'm watching Knicks, I'm watching NHL Hockey. I'm watching the Mets, I'm watching the Yankees. I'm all over the place.
Peter Rosenberg
So how'd that turn out?
Don Hahn
But I put up a. Put up a poll. Okay, you know, what were you. I said. I said a lot going on in sports. I'm wearing out my remote. What drew the most attention for you? And I put, you know, Yankees, Guardians, Mets, Phillies, NHL Playoffs, Knicks, Pistons, Mets.
Peter Rosenberg
Phillies, Yankee, Guardians, and NHL Playoffs.
Sam Morrell
You made a poll, though.
Peter Rosenberg
He put a poll right up. Like 16, 20 votes.
Don Hahn
Okay, 12 hours.
Peter Rosenberg
The final results are. What do you think came in last?
Don Hahn
It was.
Sam Morrell
You said it was Knicks, Pistons, Knicks.
Peter Rosenberg
Pistons, Mets, Phillies, Yankees, Guardians, NHL playoffs.
Sam Morrell
What was. I'd say the least votes.
Peter Rosenberg
12%.
Sam Morrell
Well, Don posted it. I'll say Yankees were lost 12%. And then I'd say it's Mets, NHL.
Peter Rosenberg
Playoffs, 20%, Mets, Phillies, 24%, Knicks, Pistons, 44%.
Sam Morrell
That's about.
Peter Rosenberg
And then I'm reading the replies.
Sam Morrell
A lot of wrestling Monday night Raw.
Don Hahn
And that's fine.
Peter Rosenberg
What about Raw? No Raw after Wrestlemania.
Sam Morrell
I didn't know Raw.
Don Hahn
I made it very clear that I'm wearing out my remote. I didn't have Raw, so why would I put it on the poll?
Peter Rosenberg
There's a lot of it.
Sam Morrell
If you want to watch raw, Raw.
Don Hahn
Netflix then that's fine.
Sam Morrell
One, you were talking sports and Raw, you know, wrestling, sports, entertainment.
Don Hahn
But I don't mind the person that says I'm watching raw. I asked the question, but don't like why don't I have it in the poll? Why would I have it in the poll?
Sam Morrell
None of the above.
Peter Rosenberg
Monday night Raw Loser.
Sam Morrell
Oh, no one said that.
Don Hahn
No, no, no.
Peter Rosenberg
I added the loser if you want.
Don Hahn
To run it up the pole. Who, the loser?
Sam Morrell
Well, yeah, but first of all, but.
Peter Rosenberg
That'S not even I was reading the attitude in the. It's a little.
Sam Morrell
He made that up though. Wrestling fans actually aren't like that. So they are among the best, least obnoxious fans there are.
Peter Rosenberg
Raw.
Don Hahn
Click.
Sam Morrell
Yeah, we got to go to break, I'm told.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, handle it. This is your segment.
Sam Morrell
All right. That's great. So that is. Can't take it too.
Peter Rosenberg
That was a good one. I like that.
Sam Morrell

Peter Rosenberg
Problem puck drop six or pre game six?
Don Hahn
No, they're dropping the puck at six.
Peter Rosenberg
What?
Don Hahn
Because they're jamming four games in. Jamming it right in ESPN. So we got a game. Golden Knights and Wild. 11:00. Face off.
Peter Rosenberg
Stop. PM, PM stop it.
Don Hahn
11:00.
Peter Rosenberg
What is going on? Listen, in Vegas we had a 9:30 on a Sunday night NBA, the poor.
Don Hahn
People of Minnesota, I mean they gotta, they gotta like plug their car into something so it doesn't freeze over and everything and 9 o'clock puck drop for them. That's not right. That's not right.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh you betcha.
Don Hahn
And the Yankees continue their series with the Guardians in Cleveland at 6:10 Tullamore Dew. The original triple distilled, triple blended and triple cast matured Irish Whiskey. Be sure to grab a Tullamore Dew or try the Tullamore Dew, honey. During tonight's action, glasses up to enjoying Tullamore Dew responsibly.
Peter Rosenberg
Some other news by the way guys. Locally, the New York Islanders announced today that Lou lamarillo will no longer be their president and general manager. What? They said that his contract will not be renewed but that eventually basically means that he is fired. They are? Yeah, yeah. They're currently in the search for a new general manager. Word is is that Patrick was situation will be up to whoever comes in to take over the organization.
Don Hahn
I was not familiar.
Peter Rosenberg
Feels like that move that felt inevitable but I always go with the now what? You know, like I really do have that kind of like worrisome now what feeling for a franchise that when they go irrelevant when they go like where not everybody's. They're not winning. It gets real sparse in that building and they get zero coverage.
Don Hahn
But you are having to renew a contract for a person that, let's face it, he's one of the great executives in New York sports history. Yeah, but he has not won a cup in over 20 years. You did have some success with him a couple of years ago. Back to back third round champions. Yeah, but you're coming off, you know, getting bounced in the first round last year. No playoffs this year. And I hate to bring this up but I'm Sure. It's a factor where you're going to give a guy another contract at the start of next season. He's going to be 83.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Third coach too, in what, four years?
Don Hahn
Third coach in three years at some point. Hey, you know, thanks. And the sad thing is I would think this is probably it for Louis. You never say never. Maybe he'll be an advisor.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I was going to say as far as his age, you go advisor.
Don Hahn
He's being a general manager. But heck of a run with the Devils taking over for them in 1987, a relevant franchise and setting him up for three cups and did a pretty decent job in Toronto. And a lot of the pieces that are in place there are because of him and getting the Islanders back on the map. But I can understand the ownership there saying, all right, let me. Time for a change. And I think his son was, was, was somebody that might have eventually taken over for Lou. So maybe they just figured this is time maybe to get out of the lamarillo business and kind of move on and maybe, you know, get younger and think differently. So I don't, I don't mind the Islanders doing this.
Peter Rosenberg
They've had, if you think about it, since the mid-90s. They really, if you think about it, since Bill Tory, which was early 90s. All right. Dom Maloney, short time. Mike Milbury.
Don Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Neil Smith for like a minute.
Don Hahn
A minute.
Peter Rosenberg
And what, Garth and Garth Snow. Yeah, they have not had a lot of like they, whoever they've had in that position has held the position for. Again, Neil Smith was a cup of coffee, but aside from that, I guess Don Maloney was a short term as well. The gang of four brought him in and it wasn't fair to him. They had no chance. But they, normally they hire somebody. They stay in that job a long time. So this, this next hire though, where they go from here, new arena, you know, they've, they've got a, this is not easy for them to do. What Ledecky Amalkin have to do here is they have to bring in somebody who is a forward thinker but probably can be dynamic with the draft because that to me has been the issue with the Islanders. They just have not really won the draft and turned it into something where they have built up. You're not attracting free agents here, but they, they have to know that by now.
Don Hahn
Yeah, I was a little one of the owners. It's not Ledecky or Malkin that's going to lead the search for the general manager. The name was unfamiliar to Me stand by. I. Like I said, I'm Malkins.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
John Cox. I don't know him. I know Ledecky and then Malkin. I've met Malcolm.
Peter Rosenberg
Stays kind of out of it. Like, he's not really.
Don Hahn
He's kind of.
Peter Rosenberg
He's an unbelievable salesman. Like, he's the guy everybody sees in the building.
Don Hahn
But Collins is going to be the one that's going to search for the new general match. It's a pretty attractive job. They're not bereft of talent, but they're certainly not really close to a championship. But you know, Bo Horvat's coming back, the Gabarzel coming back. The goaltending's pretty much set with Sorokin.
Peter Rosenberg
Feels like a reset. Like they gotta just shake it up a little bit and get a culture. Now, quick question, 30 seconds. If you are somebody that comes in, is Patrick Wall your coach or No.
Don Hahn
I think I move on. I like Patrick Wall, but he hasn't really had a ton of success as a coach. Some moments in Colorado. But I'm going to bring in my own guy.
Sam Morrell
Don Donnie. Puck's turning on Patrick Waugh.
Peter Rosenberg
Just firing people now. I'll say something.
Don Hahn
General manager. Wouldn't you want to like bring in your own guy? I mean, I usually you do and.
Sam Morrell
It hasn't been going great. And there's a reason this is all happening.
Peter Rosenberg
Do you think you go young, new voice. You know that like again, everybody's pushing the Denver coach, college. He's been there forever. The name escapes me right now. What's. Yeah, Carl David. Carl.
Don Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
It's been wildly successful. Feels like somebody that you know would get an NHL opportunity. Name the Watch. Maybe again you want that? So anyways, it's another. Another story here in New York of.
Don Hahn
Is that a place from. Well, I don't know who the general manager is going to be, but is that a place where from a PR standpoint you can get away with bringing in Joel Quinnville? Like, I don't know if the Rangers can do it, especially after the Panera and stuff. It's like it's too high profile.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I actually think you're right. I think that might be one. I know the Rangers aren't going to do it.
Don Hahn
I think when Quinnville comes back, it's going to be more of a low profile job.
Peter Rosenberg
Absolutely.
Don Hahn
Like, I think maybe Anaheim, they just fired their coach.
Peter Rosenberg
A market that's not going to get nearly the attention that it needs. It'll get coverage, but that it wouldn't be as loud as if it would be in a major market. All right, coming up, we're gonna. We have to laugh. We have to have some fun. Despite the frustration of a nickname, there's.
Don Hahn
Pressure on somebody, right?
Peter Rosenberg
So Sam Morrell's gonna join us and we're gonna have some fun with him.
Don Hahn
And he's probably in a bad mood, so hopefully that doesn't take away from.
Peter Rosenberg
Us because the Nick, it'll make him funnier. I think when you're pissed off, it's even funnier.
Don Hahn
Big Nick fan.
Peter Rosenberg
