I've got a question for Yankee fans and But Peter had what he thinks is the weirdest thing about Alan Hot.
Don La Greca
The weirdest thing Alan does if you're wondering behind the scenes, besides get jealous when Don mentions Michael K, is that when a call comes in that irritates him enough? Like it's not performative? He gets so irritated he will take his headphones off and turn the microphone off and then just lean back from his chair. He can't do it. Don, I've never I have been in radio for a very long time. I've never seen someone get so irritated that they go, I can't have this conversation right now. It's hilarious. And it happened once. And Don and I didn't acknowledge it or each other. It just sort of happened. But then I think, Don, the next time it happened, we looked at each other. I was like, did he just take his headphones off? What is this guy doing? He's a maniac. I tell you. I knew when that happened, I went, oh, we might be on to something. This guy Might have another gear that we had not yet seen.
Peter Rosenberg
But that's what we need. We need wackiness from.
Don La Greca
I need crazy. I need full on crazy.
Peter Rosenberg
We do. We do need full on crazy. 1-800-919-3776. Plenty of people want to jump on board here, including JJ in North Carolina. You're on ESPN New York. What's up, jj?
JJ
Hey, guys. I just want to say, Don, you're saying you brought up a question before about the. Whether, like, what the Knicks should like or. Sorry, what. What they should be mad at, like what Knicks fans should be mad about or if they should be mad about the Pacers winning last night.
Peter Rosenberg
Right.
JJ
I think the real thing, if nothing else, that they should be really mad about is just losing the game one in which they did. Because if they don't lose that, I think the series is changed forever and they can really. I think they probably would have won the series. And you guys are saying just like, what takes of like a. What makes a real team, like, full. And going into this finals, do we really, like, know much about the Thunder? I mean, we know they're a good team, but like, besides sga, does a casual, like normal NBA fan really know about any of the other players? You know, maybe Jalen Williams and besides that. But it's, it's crazy that, like, you're, you're beginning of the show. You kind of just said, like, what. What is real? What are we. Like, you're trying to find out, like, what is the real cause for winning. Like, is the coach. You're trying to find someone to blame when something doesn't go right because it's.
Peter Rosenberg
The jj, it's the easiest guy to let go. You know, if.
JJ
That's why I think Tibs got the short end of the stick because he. It's like Leon Rose, like, who do you blame? Well, you can't stay Dolan, like the play. Everyone's trying to blame Cat. But I don't think, I don't think Tibbs was the real reason. It's just kind of just.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, we're going to find out next year.
JJ
They ran it.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm willing to. I'm willing to wait and see how this ends up looking. At the end of the day, if they end up hiring another coach, let's say, just sake of argument, Jason Kidd, and they win the chip next year, well, they got it right. You know, there's probably more odds that they're going to get it wrong because it's really hard to win. But we got to See how they pivot. But you're right. But here's the problem, Peter, see if you follow me here, because again, I'm going to try apples and oranges sometimes. But you know, we talk about the game one loss and like that was a bad loss for the Thunder last night. They blew a big lead and in Halliburton beats him in the final seconds. Does that mean that the series is over? No, it doesn't. The Pacers might not win another game the rest of the series. We did game one affect the Knicks winning the series? I guess the math tells you there would have been a game seven at home. So yeah, probably did. But that's part of the process of winning is not having that affect you. The Edmonton oilers blew a 31 lead in the third period, allowing five unanswered goals. An awful loss in the conference final of Dallas didn't lose another game. Anthony, what was that in 2010 when the Rangers blow a huge lead to the Yankees in the first game of their. Was it the divisional round series? Right. And Michael K is on the field after the game in Texas saying, this is over, this series is over. No, Rangers ended up bouncing back and winning the series. Why? Because they were the better team. You know what? The Oilers were the better team against Dallas. If the Knicks, Peter, were the better team, why would one loss as crippling as it was, as fluky as it was, why would that one game end your season unless you just weren't good enough to overcome it? So isn't that part of it we make it such like it was the fluke and that's the reason? Well, maybe it was the reason because you weren't good enough to overcome it. And the answer is why? Is, was it Tibbs? Was it the players? Was it the general vibe of the series? But you know, why should any game one loss be that crippling unless weren't good enough?
Don La Greca
I mean, it's an interesting one, right? Because the way that they lost game one in the Pacers series was particularly brutal. I can say that it's an unusual loss.
Peter Rosenberg
There's.
Don La Greca
There's getting out coached and losing a game, and then there's losing in a fashion that is so damaging that it can sort of set a tone for the series. And I would argue, guys, that even though the Knicks fought their way back to three two, wouldn't you say that without question, game one still set the tone that sort of sat over the entire series?
Peter Rosenberg
But you allowed that to happen.
Don La Greca
Yeah, that's true.
Peter Rosenberg
You allowed that to Be the tone now. We'll see. Now that again, it wasn't as crazy a loss, but that was a bad loss. Thunder a 9 1/2 point favorite. They're going to win in a walk. They're up all the game. The only time the Pacers led was on the Halliburton shot that won the game. Again, not as fluky. Wasn't a ball that bounced out of the screen and it ends up in the net and blowing a nine point lead with, you know, 50 seconds to go, whatever. But it was a bad loss. Now let's see if it affects the Thunder. They might win the next four straight games and it won't matter. And did that affect them at home when they lost? Game two was probably maybe not as fluky a loss and as crippling a loss as far as blowing a lead. But now, now you're down two nothing in the series. Who's on that? You couldn't bounce back from that. So I, I always keep thinking about, oh, but the way they lost, how are you supposed to bounce back after that? You can. There have been worse losses and teams find a way to get off the mat.
Don La Greca
That's true. You're right. And by the way, and maybe that ends up being the bigger indictment of the coach.
Peter Rosenberg
It could be. You're right. I mean, I, I don't want to be on the fence about it. I didn't like it. I wouldn't have done it personally if it was my team. I wouldn't have fired tips. But we'll find out if they got it right or not. We'll see. Chad on Long island. You're on ESPN New York.
Chad
Hey, fellas. First of all, I just want to say that I think you guys are all awesome. You had to know something was up with Han because he worked with Rick, he worked with Mark, now he's with you guys. All that really needed was a little bit of chemistry to learn where to come in and not walk on each other. And I think it's awesome. I love listening, guys.
Don La Greca
Thanks, man.
Chad
Mainly what I wanted. You got it. I mean, look, I've been listening, guys for a long time. Absolutely. You and Don, you know, you guys are hilarious and awesome. My son's in the car. Me. We're on our way to Yankee Stadium. He did a fraud alert. Friday. Weeks ago. It's a rainy day. People were driving out to Yankee Stadium. Han had a big problem with the Yankees. Not allowed. Not notifying people to stay home. We're going to close the game down. My uncle Was a veteran of the game. Six inning rolls around. There's not a soul in the stadium except for his family, us. And they called the game right before he got on.
Don La Greca
No.
Chad
Yeah, right. In Swedia. There's not a soul in the stadium. It's pouring rain, and six inning goes through. They played the Giants. They call the game.
Don La Greca
And so what happens now?
Chad
Bringing us back. They're bringing us back tonight. They're bringing us back for Yankees, Red Sox. Could you. Could you plan a better comeback?
Don La Greca
There you go.
Chad
The nicest guys fought in Vietnam. We're going to be out there.
Don La Greca
What's your. What's your uncle's. What's your uncle's name?
Chad
His name is Arnold White.
Don La Greca
Well, shout out to Arnold White, a Vietnam vet who's going to get honored tonight at the stadium. That's awesome, man.
Chad
I thank you guys. And real quick, Tibbs was the right guy. When the Knicks got him, they were all over the place. They needed someone to rein him in. They needed someone who could, you know, put them together in a uniform way and get him to play basketball together as a unit. He did that. He brought him to a great level. But unfortunately, the same kind of, you know, reputation that he had as a guy who could do what he did is the same reason why he's not there anymore, guys. He's got a reputation for not being able to get teams over the. Over the top. And with. I mean, you got a hampered team. I know. Rosemary, I know you. You were a big Celtics guy, and I know they're short next year. It's. It's a window you cannot pass up. You've got to get a guy in there. I don't know who it's going to be, but you got to get in there.
Don La Greca
That's a great. Take that, you know, thank you for the call, man. And have fun tonight with your family. Don, I got to tell you, I don't think on this show those specific words have been said, and that's a really. And if they were, I apologize. That's a really simple and profound point. The best team in the conference is taking next year off. I'm sorry. No matter what the Celtics try to put together next year to resemble a championship contender. Don't. And, you know, you know, I have immense respect for the team that I have loved my whole life. And what Brad Stevens has done to build a culture there. And obviously, Missoula knows what he's doing. Seems to, at least. Seems to. But regardless, Jalen Brown is not leading this team on his own to a title. They're probably going to have to part ways with either or possibly both Kristaps and Jrue Holiday Horford will likely retire to that whole team May change. Don, how often do you have a juggernaut in your conference who have two max players who are there forever, but next year you can basically be sure they're going to take a mulligan? Yeah, that doesn't happen often.
Peter Rosenberg
No, it doesn't happen that often. But also what I think hurt Tibbs. You know, go if you want. Because the whole idea was it wasn't just about what happened in the Pacer series that this had been brewing for a while. Let's not forget the step that Cleveland took. Like that was unexpected. It was going to be, can the Knicks beat Boston? It's the Knicks. It's the Celtics. They make the cat deal. These are the two teams. They're going to battle it out who's going to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals. And out of nowhere, Cleveland has this unreal season and they're the onesie. Why weren't the Knicks the one seat? Why didn't the Knicks take the jump the Cavs took? And we are disregarding the Cavs because of how it ended for them. But if they had been healthy, maybe they're playing today, I don't know. But you still have the Cavs to deal with. Do the Pistons take the next step? But you're right, you've just taken out a championship caliber team in Boston. And you would think without Tatum, they'll be, they'll be good and they'll be a playoff team, but they are not going to be a championship caliber. IBS was the guy to do it. Well, then I guess you made the right decision. Well, we'll ultimately see, but the Eastern Conference is going to be pretty wide open because I would think the Celtics are out.
Don La Greca
And you wonder, and you wonder, you know, how much did that affect them? Like, you know, did they say, hey man, we gotta, we gotta take advantage right now. We like Tibbs. We've now gotten two looks at him in the playoffs. Yes, we went on a hell of a run. Yes, it's great that we found a way to beat the Celtics, but in the end we ended up against the Pacers, a team we already believed we should beat. And frankly, I'm sorry, there's no other way to put it, he was out coached.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don La Greca
And we just can't risk it. Not next year. Detroit's. Detroit's getting better, but they're not Going to be at the top of the conference. Indiana is obviously very, very good as we see right now. But the Celtics are the cream of the crop and you have an opportunity now to jump them. So maybe they just said, we just can't wait and see anymore. Got to take a swing. I will say that report we saw earlier today that they're seeking permission to talk to Jason. Kidding. From Dallas, Don, Is that. I don't know. I don't know how much that gets my juices going. It's like Kidd is almost. Kidd to me in some ways is almost. I don't want to disrespect Jason Kidd because he could end up being great and he's obviously, he's done really well with certain people. Right. Like you immediately saw Kyrie Irving become a better soldier the second he was playing under Jason Kidd. So I don't want to say that Jason Kidd isn't really great, but to me, Donnie sort of splits the difference. He's not a championship coach, he's not an icon in coaching. And he's also not some guy that you're not familiar with yet who's maybe the next guy. He's neither of those things, which I think is sort of interesting. And if I'm a Knicks fan, which I. Which I am a little worrisome, you know what I'm saying?
Peter Rosenberg
A little bit for me. But at least he has on his resume. Overachieving with the Mavericks last year, getting them to the Finals, they were a 50 win team. Knicks were a 51 win team. And things broke the right way in the west and Dallas took advantage of it and then eventually went up against a team that was clearly better than them in Boston. And they lost and fought hard against.
Don La Greca
Adversity this year too.
Peter Rosenberg
Right, Exactly. And get gifted Cooper flag. And we'll see where they go with that.
Don La Greca
But why would you want to point.
Peter Rosenberg
Is that maybe Jason Kidd's the guy and it's also a sexy hire, you know, because he's a name people recognize. Did play for the Knicks, he coached in Brooklyn, so he kind of knows the market. I don't think anybody will look cross eyed at that pick if.
Don La Greca
No, that's a good point.
Peter Rosenberg
And you do. And Allen reported that he looks like he's itching to get out of Dallas and all that. So that, that to me would be the favorite. But I don't know if it'll work. I don't know if that's the answer. Just because he went to a final in Dallas that that automatically means he'll be able to do that with the Knicks, but we're going to find out. But that does seem like it checks a lot of boxes, right? A championship. But he did get a team that wasn't supposed to go to the finals, the finals, a couple of years ago. And it's a recognizable name and it might be a sexy enough hire. Not that I think they care about that. At the end of the day, you want to hire the right coach, but it does check a lot of boxes and the fact that they asked permission. Now it's just a matter of how much compensation it's going to take to be able to pry him away from the Mavericks. 1-800-919-3776. Let's go to Robbie in Lenox, Massachusetts. You're on ESPN New York. What's up, Robbie?
Robbie
Hey, Don, what's going on? Nice to talk to you and Peter, I really appreciate the opportunity to talk to you guys. Don, I just wanted to say, first of all, I really enjoy you guys on the radio. Thank you for another year. Even though we didn't make the playoffs, you know, you guys know, you know that especially the Rangers are my favorite team in pro sports. And I want to talk about one thing after, but I do want to talk about the NBA and I do want to specifically talk about the Knicks. I saw the last championship. I'm a couple years old. And you are, Don. Look, I'm going to criticize Tibbs and then I'm going to defend him. Okay? First of all, to criticize him, game one, I would have fired him. You don't blow a game like that. You have a five point lead with 28 seconds left. I don't care Jalen Brunson. I don't care if you walk on the court and grab one to mind the shirt, okay? You drag him back. You take the 18 seconds. I don't care if you shoot with three seconds left. The worst case scenario, they have to follow you, okay? You go to the foul line. We know Jalen's the best foul shooter on the team. Worst case scenario, by five with about 10 seconds left, you probably won the game. So I would have fired Thibodeau after the game. I'm probably. I would have made Brunson the coaches father the coach for the rest of the game because that was ridiculous. Now to defend him, okay? And seriously defend them, okay? This is about the dumbest game ever played. Now the 2025 NBA player, okay, who takes three point shots when they have a 15 and 20 point lead. People Want to know how the Celtics, how your team. The Celtics blew a 20 point lead twice because they didn't get the ball inside. Okay? Because when I see Al Horford, when I see OG standing on the three point line when Cat misses a shot and they're 50ft outside the basket, there's a time to take a three guys and there's a time not to take a three. And situational basketball isn't played anymore. Red Holtzman, Jean Chu, Lageri Cunningham, all the guys that grew up after Jack Ramsey could never coach these guys because they don't listen. All they do is Chuck. Ill advised threes. If you use the three intelligently, that's fine, but these guys don't. The Knicks individually are more talented than Indiana. The difference is that the Knicks don't play together because Jalen Bunton doesn't know how to be a point guard and how to be a facilitator if he learns how. If you bring a guy like Jason Kidd, he might teach him how to be more of a facilitator and teach Cat had actually post up. Why doesn't call Anthony Towns post up? Because call Anthony Towns and the rest of the NBA are infatuated and absolutely like anesthetized with three point shots. That's why I don't like watching basketball anymore. Be it me. That was my blast. But thank you.
Don La Greca
You know what?
Robbie
Go ahead.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay.
Don La Greca
No, no, no. Go ahead.
Robbie
Okay. Sorry. And I do do a radio show with my buddy Ralph Romeo, better known as Ralph of Manhattan on this station. Also on the Fan for many years. So I'm going back to radio. So thanks guys for letting me. It was a monologue. Let's go back to Rio. But anyway, what I wanted to say basically is that I still like all time basketball and I know the game evolves, I understand that. But evolving to what? Unintelligent play taking. Here's a perfect example of unintelligible play. Jalen Brunson taking a three with an eight point lead with what?
Peter Rosenberg
Two?
Robbie
Less than two minutes left in game one. That's dumb. That's not situational basketball. But anyway, I just want to mention to you about NHL don't. I love Connor McDavid. I'm wearing my Eerie Otters jersey again tonight. All right, here's my question for you. Can we please get rid. Doesn't matter who wins. Can we get rid of the delay of game? A penalty to assess A two minute penalty for getting a puck over a pane of glass. What are we going to do? Be Like Milford Highline, put the glass all the way up on the top of the ceiling. I'll let you guys go. I appreciate it so much.
Peter Rosenberg
Thanks, man. I appreciate the phone call. I've talked to people about this, even the great E.J. raddick. These guys are professionals. They know what they're doing. If they throw the puck over the glass, you got to penalize them for it. They got to be better than that, so. And then Nasik, obviously, or Nosek, made that penalty, and then that led to the power play goal in game one. That's what he was talking about. The problem I have with Robbie's point, is he criticizing the player's stupidity or the game itself? Because I think these players are doing exactly what their coaches want them to do.
Don La Greca
I agree. That was the part I. That was the part. Now, maybe specifically a Brunson 3 with, you know, two minutes left, up eight, maybe you can find specific situations where he's right. But when you're talking about the Celtics, who let the Knicks back in by chucking threes up 15, that's how Missoula coaches them. That's what the team is. That's not the Celtics going rogue. That's how they're built. They plan on doing that.
Peter Rosenberg
I hate having the whole baseball analytic conversation, but that's kind of where we're at, is that they figured out that threes are more valuable than twos. They're taught that if it's there, take it. You look at it and go, why is he taking a three point shot with eight seconds to go? Milk the clock. They're thinking, he's got a wide open three. He's a great shooter. Now we can widen our lead and blow them out. That's why you see so many blowouts, right? You see leads get blown when all of a sudden threes go cold. But if you stay hot, you can make a 10 point game, a 30 point game. Just ask the Thunder how they've won some of their blowout games. Like, so that's what they're going to throw at you, is that we've taught these guys. If it's there, take it. Now. I'm of the belief you got to adjust. If I've got a nine point lead with 50 seconds to go and you'll milk the clock a little bit more. We don't need to widen the lead. We need to protect the lead. And maybe that is on coaching, but it can't be. Both players are stupid. This is the way the NBA wants it. I think it's the way the NBA wants it. So I'm going to give the players a bit of a break because I think more times than not they're happy with those three attempts.
Don La Greca
Oh, man, I know you don't care, but Joker essentially just threw away this match on a play on in a sequence that's just like tennis is such a brutal sport. So he's down two sets. They're in the tiebreaker in the third. Okay, he's down 02 in the tie break and he's dominating a point and seemingly finishes Sinner off. Sinner just digs it out and hits a lob way up. You know, he just saves it. And all Joker has to do is put it away and he hits it right into the net. Now he's down 30 in the tie break. And you know what, like this is one of those things you don't get past. You don't get past Sinner in a final here, Don. I just feel like Joker is amazing as he's been and this is what's so crazy about the era of tennis that we live in. The next great just comes along and we are going to be watching Sinner and Alcaraz in finals against each other for the next eight, nine years. It's going to be their game. Joker had an amazing run here. I just don't think he can beat these guys anymore. Do you know Alcaraz will head into the final, Don. It'll be his fifth major final. He's 40 in his first four appearances.
Peter Rosenberg
It's just amazing how once you get into a groove, man, it's hard to get these guys out of it. Just like from one dominant player to another. Also quick update as Allen's daughter had a hat trick and an assistant a 61 win. So good start to the tournament.
Don La Greca
There we go.
Peter Rosenberg
Today he's in Boston. But she is on fire. We're on fire because you know what's coming up next, Peter?
Don La Greca
Oh, my favorite part of the week. I look forward to it every day.

Here we go. I have a bit of an unconventional fraud Friday submission. I wonder don't production note moving forward, should we consider like a certain like low bed that plays under the email reading?
Peter Rosenberg
I think that the music we have in the open like have that underneath.
Don La Greca
But low. Yeah we're talking about throughout Loud adds.
Peter Rosenberg
To the tension of the moment.
Don La Greca
I have a bit of an unconventional fraud Friday submission. I am from Southern California. That's where I am, about an hour north of San Diego. I grew up and still am a massive Chargers fan. There are a lot of us Die Hards. Seriously. Anyways, when the Chargers relocated from San Diego to Los Angeles it did not bother me since I prefer to watch football games on TV and they're only about an hour and a half away from me, so I could still go to Inglewood to catch a game if I really wanted to. However, there are thousands of fans who felt betrayed by the move and no longer support the team. I have family members who grew up in San Diego who called themselves die hard fans that will not watch or root for the team anymore even though those family members themselves moved away from San Diego. Two parter one are fans that are upset about the Chargers moving from San Diego to LA Frauds if they themselves have moved away. Two are San Diego residents who no longer support the Chargers Frauds because the team moved away. Even if a lot of the players remain the same the first few years and now have some stability through Harbaugh and Herbert. To me they are frauds and never were die hards to begin with. Thanks boys. This is interesting. This is an original oh quick ruling.
Peter Rosenberg
Did not expect because I've thought about this because I, you know, it is that conundrum of yay, you're not in San Diego anymore but it's not like you moved across the country. I call no fraud on both and here's my logic for like he said, you still get them on tv, they're still within driving distance away. They didn't move completely out of market so why give up? Why go root for another team that's out of the area when they're right there still driving distance, still catch them locally? So I call no fraud there, but I also call no fraud on the fan that gave up because I think it's more of a reflection on how you feel about your community than it is about the team. Maybe if you are just a die hard San Diego resident where you really feel strongly about San Diego and that it's completely different than the LA market, it's your own market. Maybe you were a Padre and a Charger fan, you just took pride in your community and werended that they left to go to la. I can understand that too. Now maybe the person that asked the question doesn't feel that strongly about being a San Diego resident, likes it but understands that's a smaller market and they were going to do better financially moving to Los Angeles and there was an issue at Qualcomm or whatever was called at the time and they weren't going to get a new stadium so understood it. So I don't call a fraud on him, but I'm not going to call a fraud on somebody that is a die hard resident in the community and was offended they left, so no fraud on either.
Don La Greca
This is what makes Don such a great judge and jury. Ah, there we go. I love it. All right, up next we have Deion Dion from Brooklyn. I'm 40 years old. I've been a die hard Knicks fan since I was a little kid. In the early 90s, my dad raised me as a Knicks fan, so I was probably subconsciously a Knick fan even earlier. Just like I'm raising my two and a half year old daughter Zuri right now. I remember all the glory and heartbreak of the 90s and rode with them through all of it. I still hate Reggie Miller. I ended up going to DePauw University in Indiana 3 to 07, which is right around the time the Knicks were putrid. Of course, the combination of them being terrible and me living in a state where I couldn't watch them regularly and of course in the state that was home to my most hated team, led me not to quit on the Knicks, but rather to stop watching basketball. I want to make it clear I did not give up my Knick fandom and start rooting for another team. I just stopped watching the sport altogether after I graduated and moved right back to New York. It still took me a few years, but in 2010 when the Knicks got stat in the offseason, I decided I was back. Got fully back into basketball, the Knicks, and have not looked back since. There are of course some God awful years from 2010 too, of course, but I never quit during that time. Does this make me a fraud fan of the Knicks?
Peter Rosenberg
Let me ask a question. Was our friend Ben Stiller a fraud?
Don La Greca
I didn't think so.
Peter Rosenberg
Neither did I. No fraud. Ben Stiller basically had the same story, right? Except maybe a few years earlier he moved out to California in the early 90s to get his acting career going and there was no satellite, there was no way to follow the Knicks. And he kind of fell out of it a little bit. Still loved them but couldn't watch them. Didn't become a fan of another team, but just it really affected his fandom because he was 3,000 miles away in a different era where it was really difficult to follow the team. But then once he got back going into New York, he fell right back into it. It's the same thing. I mean I, I think it'd be a fraud now, Peter, because this is going back 20 years that he went to school if he's 40, right? So yeah, but things were a little bit different. I mean, yeah, there might have been the, the basketball package, but I'M sure in college that was not affordable for him. You know, this is pre the the existence of satellite radio and all the easy ways it is to kind of follow your team. If it had happened now, I'd call fraud because it's so easy to follow out of market teams. He didn't start following another team. So I'm going to say no fraud.
Don La Greca
I like that and I think you're right. I couldn't see it going another way. All right, Philip Wright says. Hey guys, I need a ruling from Judge Don on if I'm a fraud or not. My name is Phil and I've been a casual Rangers fan since 2020, but I wasn't always a hockey fan. Prior to 2020, I despised the game mainly because I didn't know the rules or any players. All of my friends are hockey fans and at the time I didn't understand anything. So I didn't attempt to give it a try. When the Rangers made the cup in 2014, I rooted against them just to stick it to all my friends because the NHL was front and center of the NY sports world and I didn't care. Some would say I was a bad guy. In 2020 during the pandemic since the none of us could see each other, I got an Xbox and started playing NHL online with my friends. Ever since playing the game and learning about it and its rules, I developed a liking for hockey and chose the Rangers as my team going forward. Now I split a season ticket package with a group of guys and I go to the Garden for five or six games every year. I'm even watching non Rangers games like the playoffs, Stanley cup finals. So my question is, does my not liking and bashing of the game prior to 2020 make me a fraud right now?
Peter Rosenberg
This is a tough one because you know how I feel about people that hate hockey.
Don La Greca
I. I want you to, I want you to call it because again, I want you to remember as you're making this ruling. Fraud doesn't make you a bad guy. You love plenty of frauds. This is but outright bashing the game for years just cuz. And now you have a season ticket package. Excuse me.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay, sorry. I had to get the frustration out because I'm angry at him. I don't like people that go after my sport.
Don La Greca
No, you wish, you wish. They loved the sport like you do.
Peter Rosenberg
But we got him. Like I. I'm gonna call no fraud.
Don La Greca
Oh, this is weak.
Peter Rosenberg
No, it's not weak. Listen, listen. I almost respect it like because he's kind of got Me in him when I was younger. Like I kind of respect like the going after the things you don't understand. Like he didn't like it. So he was all in on not liking it because he was ignorant. You know, ignorance is bliss, right? He didn't follow. He's going after his friends, hating it. But then he genuinely fell in love with the sport. It wasn't like he fell in love with the sport because of a girl trying to win somebody over a job.
Don La Greca
True.
Peter Rosenberg
He. He just kind of discovered it and fell in love with it organically. And instead of being a fraud and saying, I'm not going to like what I'm falling in love with because of how cruel I was to my friends when I didn't know any better, he opened his heart, genuinely fell in love with the sport, and now is all in. No fraud.
Don La Greca
Wow.
Peter Rosenberg
Just think about that. Think about what I'm saying. Think of how easy it would be.
Don La Greca
No, you're right to heat it just.
Peter Rosenberg
For the sake of like backing up his ignorance from before.
Don La Greca
Now listen, it's a great point by you. I'm not mad at you. I had a period, Don. I was out of wrestling from the late mid-90s until 2005. I missed the most glorious time of wrestling, the Attitude era. While my. While kids on my hall at Maryland were watching Raw and Nitro, I was out. Now, I never hated it, never talked trash. In fact, we would still like joke around and kind of do like we actually would set up wrestling mat, like organized pretend wrestling matches in our common area. Like I was. I still had fun with it, but I was out. I didn't know anyone except Steve Austin and Goldberg. And then I found my way back to it. Went through most. So things happen, Don.
Peter Rosenberg
People make things do happen. I almost respect the fact that he went after his friends with it, but it just felt too organic to call fraud. Wouldn't call him a die hard fan until like, you know, it's only been 2020. It's only five years here. But we stumble on things in our own timeline, right? Peter takes other people time.
Don La Greca
I just want someone to be a fraud today.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, this is a nice little studio. We got to give me another one here. I can't.
Don La Greca
I know, but I'm looking for one that's a higher chance of a fraud. Okay. Hi, don. I'm a 44 year old from Jersey my whole life. Like the Knicks growing up. However, somewhere around 94, 95, I lost my love for basketball and stopped following the sport. Fast forward to 09. I really like to watch Steph Curry play in college and followed him as the warriors drafted him to the NBA. I then wanted to start betting with my local guy in a sport I had no bias in, basketball. So I began studying teams. Turns out the warriors had such a high powered offense and such a bad defense that the overs were hitting every single night. So I began betting all these overs and crushing it, making lots of money. I found myself constantly following the warriors that season because they were scoring so many points. I was making a good amount of money at that point. I figured I owed them because they made me so much money. So I became a Warrior fan. Legit started following them. Steph Curry, Monte Ellis, taking the ball up the court together. Then fast forward five years later they become good. But I was already a fan from that time when they were still bad, just scoring a lot. Yes, I'm still a Warriors fan to this day and I'm proud of it. Am I a fraud?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Not only is a fraud Warrior fan, he's a fraud basketball fan. Wow. He fell out of basketball and then he fell back in love with it because of gambling.
Don La Greca
Oh boy.
Peter Rosenberg
That's not any kind of fan. I hate those. Like you get a lot of people. Oh, I'm a Chiefs fan because I one time I won the pool at the office and I've rooted for them ever since. Fraud. Come on again. Could be a nice guy. Maybe. Maybe. You know I'd let you marry my daughter. Not now, but if the timetable was right.
Don La Greca
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
That's a fraud. Fraud and fraud warriors fan and fraud basketball fan. So now I feel, you know, I feel like I got it out because you know, that drop is too good not to play.
Don La Greca
Yeah. Can we get it one more time? That will do it for Fraud Friday. Another great addition from Don. If you want to participate next week, send your emails thresbnmail.com and for the rest of the show today, if you want to try to call and get through with 111-800-919-3776.

Donna Roseburg take you up until 7 o' clock and then Pat O' Keefe will be on leading us into Mets Rockies right here on 880 ESPN New York. Now if you're a listener of this show and a fan of Peter, you know Peter's love for Jacob's Pickles. Well I just got some information. Peter from eyewitness News. That's ABC 7 New York to you in me?
Don La Greca
Yeah, I'm from there.
Peter Rosenberg
Popular Upper west side restaurant Jacob's Pickle shut down by health department.
Don La Greca
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
What is going on?
Don La Greca
Well, you know, listen, I read it. I read what's going on. I read it. You know, did the work. Sounds like they had some issues that they're facing there from being in an old space. They're moving by the way. They're that it will no longer be Jacob's Pickles in a few months. They're moving to like the 90s in Columbus.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay.
Don La Greca
But yeah, in the meantime something that was just was discovered that was no good and they said they'll be open in two days. But yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Now I'm gonna say.
Don La Greca
What am I supposed to say?
Peter Rosenberg
Will this affect your consumption of the product moving forward?
Don La Greca
Of course not.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay, interesting. You're a die hard.
Don La Greca
No, it doesn't affect. It doesn't affect anything.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, affects them.
Don La Greca
Well yeah, of course. It just doesn't affect me and Jacobs. I mean listen Restaurants in New York occasionally have a moment like this. It can happen. It's unfortunate. Do I want to hear the details? Probably not.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, well, you do and you don't. Right? I mean, you. You're a fan, you don't want it, but you kind of want to know, moving forward, if it was just, hey, you know, somebody grabbed the wrong box, that it expired, didn't realize it. Some people got right.
Don La Greca
Something was sitting somewhere it wasn't supposed to be, but.
Peter Rosenberg
But it could be something that makes you think twice now. So, no, I do the event. I think I do the work.
Don La Greca
Peter. I once went to a restaurant that I will not name, just as I wouldn't have mentioned this, that while I was eating, I saw a cockroach run across my table. Didn't affect me in the moment. I didn't like it. I wasn't thrilled.
Peter Rosenberg
There was.
Don La Greca
The fact is, these things happen.
Peter Rosenberg
There was a sandwich place near where I grew up, and when I was delivering for Lincoln Pharmacy, I went to this establishment, was hungry, wanted to get lunch. There was a line out the door, didn't have a lot of time. But I love their sandwiches, so I figured I'd wait online. As I get to the door, there's still like a dozen people ahead of me on the menu. Above the registers, cockroach runs cross place, cleared out. You know what I said?
Don La Greca
What?
Peter Rosenberg
I'm next.
Don La Greca
Because it happened.
Peter Rosenberg
Sandwich, enjoyed it and never look back.
Don La Greca
Don.
Peter Rosenberg
It happens because it happens. Okay.
Don La Greca
I've seen a cockroach in my home. I didn't stop eating.
Peter Rosenberg
You didn't move. I mean, listen, if I. If a thousand of them ran in, then there's a. There's. And I. And I also understand where there's one, there's probably a thousand somewhere. But you know what? It happens. So I was next. There's another place. My father used to tell me the story. I'm not going to name the establishment. They still exist. But there was a famous place my father used to eat, and like, literally every few years, they would get shut down because they served horse meat.
Don La Greca
Well, that's tough.
Peter Rosenberg
That's tough. And you know what? Every time they open line out the door, people loved it. Not horse meat, but they just love the. They just could not get enough of the restaurant. So your forgivability, if that's a word, is going to be in relation to how much you love the place. Right?
Don La Greca
Exactly.
Peter Rosenberg
So. And I know you love Jacob's pickles, so I understand you giving them the benefit of the doubt.
Don La Greca
Yeah. And I don't know. I read the thing that they got. Some of the things didn't sound great. But also they could all add up to being kind of a nothing burger. You just don't know. So, you know, I think they'll bounce back. They're moving locations, so I'm not. I'm not worried about it.
Peter Rosenberg
Peter, I have one for you.
Don La Greca
Yeah, I have you, Peter, because this doesn't affect Don yet. Because we haven't made him a sushi guy yet. If you see a lower than B rating at a sushi place. No, you can't.
Peter Rosenberg
That.
Don La Greca
See that. Okay, so that we're on the same page. That's different. I mean, you're. It's raw fish. You might die. You might die. And also, like sushi, a bad sushi meal is bad. Like bad. You can't. It's just too big a gamble.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, that I can understand. There's certain things that you just can't mess with. And that. That clearly is one. Now Met fans get ready to roll with dpa Joe Rothenberg for the third annual pregame party. It all happens on Thursday, June 12th. Don, Hahn & Rosenberg Podcast Summary
Episode: Hour 2: Fraud Alert Friday
Release Date: June 6, 2025
In "Hour 2: Fraud Alert Friday," the trio of Don La Greca, Alan Hahn, and Peter Rosenberg delves deep into the New York Knicks' recent performance, coaching decisions, and their implications on the NBA playoffs. The episode also features interactive segments with listener calls and the recurring "Fraud Alert Friday," where the hosts judge the authenticity of fan behaviors. The discussion is rich with sports insights, passionate debates, and engaging listener interactions.
The episode opens with a heated discussion about the Knicks' early exit from their playoff series against the Pacers. Don and Peter analyze the impact of the Knicks' Game 1 loss and Coach Thibodeau's strategies.
Don La Greca emphasizes the severity of the Knicks' Game 1 loss:
"The way that they lost game one in the Pacers series was particularly brutal. It set a tone for the entire series." (06:27)
Peter Rosenberg concurs, questioning the efficacy of Thibodeau's coaching:
"I didn't like it. I wouldn't have fired Tibbs. But we'll find out if they got it right or not." (08:12)
The hosts debate whether the loss was a fluke or indicative of deeper issues within the team. They explore potential coaching changes, including the rumored interest in Jason Kidd, and discuss the Knicks' chances in the upcoming season.
Peter Rosenberg speculates on the possible hiring of Jason Kidd:

Don La Greca adds perspective on the team's future:
"Jalen Brown is not leading this team on his own to a title. They're probably going to have to part ways with either Kristaps or Jrue Holiday." (12:01)
The segment transitions to listener interactions, where fans share their thoughts and questions about the Knicks and other sports topics.
JJ from North Carolina discusses the Knicks' strategy and the impact of a single loss: "The Knicks, if you think about the oilers or the Rangers, a bad loss doesn't necessarily end the series because the better team prevails." (02:54)
Chad from Long Island praises the coaching of Thibodeau while acknowledging his shortcomings: "Tibbs was the right guy. He brought the team together in a uniform way." (08:30)
Chad also touches upon the broader NBA landscape, mentioning the Celtics and their potential decline in the next season.
The highlight of the episode is the "Fraud Alert Friday" segment, where listeners submit scenarios to determine if their fan behaviors classify them as "frauds." The hosts use humor and personal judgments to make their rulings.
Don La Greca presents a submission from a Southern California Chargers fan upset about the team's move from San Diego to Los Angeles.

Don remarks:
"This makes Don such a great judge and jury." (32:21)
Don La Greca shares Deion Dion's story of fluctuating Knicks fandom, questioning if his intermittent support labels him a fraud.
Peter Rosenberg decides no fraud, recognizing Deion's genuine passion despite periods of disengagement: "He just discovered it and fell in love with the sport organically." (33:58)
Don introduces a caller who became a Warriors fan through gambling success, questioning his authenticity.
Peter firmly labels him a fraud due to the superficial nature of his fandom: "He's a fraud Warriors fan and fraud basketball fan." (41:17)
Beyond the main topics, the hosts engage in various light-hearted and anecdotal conversations:
