Kofi
Thank you.
Don Hahn
And the Pistons.
Peter Rosenberg
Thank you.
Kofi
Kofi.
Peter Rosenberg
Kofi always knows. Really does.
Don Hahn
Really.
Peter Rosenberg
How about this bit of news from the other series in the Eastern Conference? Just had this sent to me. Jared Greenberg from TNT tweeted this. So Kenny Atkinson, the coach of the Cavs, they're already without. Help me out.
Kofi
You said the Cavs.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I'm just drawing blanks like crazy. What's going on with you, Garland? Darius Garland already missed Game 1, and there was concern about how serious his foot injury is. All right, Now, Atkinson concerned with the availability of Evan Mobley, who has an ankle injury. And DeAndre Hunter has a dislocated shooting thumb for tomorrow's game, too. They're down.01 already, and they could be down three starters, but they're already banged up after they cruise through the first round. Like you talk about snake bitten. And by the way, how about setting it up? Red carpet. Unreal. Unreal. And you know what everybody's going to say? See, the Knicks should have tanked for the fourth seed. How do you feel about that?
Don Hahn
Well, you didn't know. You never crystal ball.
Kofi
You never do, right? You never do.
Don Hahn
Because that's why you want to stay in this. Because who's to say it can't happen to the Celtics?
Peter Rosenberg
That's what people's gonna say. People are gonna say, though, right? But how about that? The Cavs have a season for the ages. They sweep the first round, have a week off, and now all of a sudden three guys are hurt.
Kofi
Isn't that insane?
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, something to watch in the Eastern Conference. 800. Now we're 93776. Let's get. Let's Get Derek in Staten island on next. Derek. Hey, guys.
Derek
Nice to talk to you. I would like to say something about. I turned on the program and I was hearing from you guys that Porzingis is talking and, you know, he's talking smack. Is that true?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, it depends on what you would consider smack. Listen to this. When he was asked about playing at Madison Square Garden and you know how the Celtics, you know, you don't want to get caught up in the crowd. The emotions, the intensity of playing at the Garden. Here's what KP said. No, because you're, like, making it seem like we're just going to get caught off guard like a deer. Like, oh, my God. Well, no, it's just. It comes with experience. No, I can ask the same thing. They're going to have to come to here, to Boston and experience this. You know, maybe ask them this question. You know, we have the experience. You know, we have the experience. And of course it's going to be a big stage. It's going to be Eastern Conference. The biggest stage. No, an Eastern Conference there can be. So it's going to be fun. It's just going to add more into the whole thing. And New York fans are always great. Boston fans are always super invested and there to support their team. And it's going to be in between the fan base. It's going to be a war for sure. Some, like, you know, even the videos that they put out and stuff, like with the fans and stuff, it's. It's fun and it makes the. Makes the rivalry even more fun. As a fan and as a player.
Don Hahn
There'S nothing wrong with that.
Derek
I find that funny because in that draft drafting third, we didn't have a chance to get cat. Now we got him, and, you know, he's still the best player.
Peter Rosenberg
I gotta tell you, Derek, Porzingis has dominated that matchup this season because he has. He has lit up the Knicks actually, his last two years. Thanks for the call, Derek.
Kofi
The last one.
Peter Rosenberg
Remember how crazy it was two years playing against the Knicks? He's shooting 50% from three. That's the problem.
Kofi
And in the last game, wasn't he like six for six?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, in the third quarter. That's when Don's talking about that game. He went nuts in the third quarter. And third quarter is obviously something we've been talking about. The other thing he said, too, that I found interesting was he said, if anything, because asked if the Knicks were under pressure more than the Celtics were, he said, if anything, it's us who have more to lose because we're supposed to win.
Don Hahn
No.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, there's also the right. It's. It. There's nothing incorrect about it. But for a player to say, yeah, we're the team that's supposed to win is interesting to say before a series. He's being honest. I know, but if you want to.
Don Hahn
Find something that's disrespecting the Knicks, I guess if you search long enough, if you dig deep enough, you'll find some gold. I. I think he was trying to be respectful to his own fan base. Like, hey, our fans are going to bring it. We're the defending champions. Look, just look at how Vegas feels about it. Yeah, they're supposed to win. They're the favorites. They've got home court. The Knicks haven't been out of the second round in 25 years. The Celtics are coming off a championship. Last year, they won all four regular season meetings, three of them going away. To say anything else would almost be disrespectful. You know, you respect your opponent, but he's being honest. It's like there's pressure on us because we're supposed to win. Well, you're defending champs, but I don't think it's conceit. It's just an actual fact.
Peter Rosenberg
More trivia for you, Don and Peter. All right. I know Don loves trivia. That's why I just said Don. I'm not offended, but I'm curious. The last time the Knicks faced a defending champion in the playoffs?
Kofi
The last time the Knicks faced a defending champ. Well, you'd have to think down first of who the Eastern Conference champion would have been. It's not the Celtics.
Peter Rosenberg
This is. This is the first time they have faced a defending champ since Miami is what I'm saying.
Don Hahn
Well, Miami would have been the Wade Championship because I don't think the knicks played any LeBron.
Peter Rosenberg
They never. They never got. They saw them all once, and that was. That was the year after they lost in the finals.
Don Hahn
So. How about Detroit?
Peter Rosenberg
No.
Don Hahn
All the Heat matchups.
Peter Rosenberg
Good guess, though. That's a good guess.
Don Hahn
So all the Heat matchups were in the 90s?
Peter Rosenberg
Yes.
Don Hahn
Before the Heat.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Yeah. The one they had in. I think it was. What was it, 11 or 12. In 12. They had lost the year before in the finals to Dallas.
Don Hahn
Just a process of elimination. I would guess it would be the Bulls.
Peter Rosenberg
Correct.
Kofi
Wow.
Peter Rosenberg
Can you name the year?
Don Hahn
What would have had to been 94.
Peter Rosenberg
Nailed it.
Don Hahn
Right. Scott wanted to take the last shot. That whole. Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
And no Michael Jordan.
Don Hahn
Yeah.
Kofi
Wow.
Don Hahn
So it's been over 30 years.
Peter Rosenberg
Think about that.
Kofi
That's insane. That's a crazy.
Peter Rosenberg
What's insane is how he just process of elimination got to the point.
Don Hahn
Peter has seen my mind work with trivia. When we did trivia during COVID Stanley Greca.
Peter Rosenberg
It's powerful. I almost feel like. Because especially in the summer. Because I love trivia, but I love asking trivia. Like I love doing that and watching everybody try to figure out. Like, we almost need a segment.
Kofi
You want a summer, a don, a testing don.
Peter Rosenberg
Like what would we call it? Something we'll come up with a name.
Don Hahn
I want to go after Dave with no cheating.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, we need. We definitely need like beating Dave at the.
Don Hahn
At the beach bash when there's no Internet.
Peter Rosenberg
We need like a ESPN New York Jeopardy. And it's just the two Jeopardy. Champions. Like we'll just all concede and let them go to the finals.
Don Hahn
Know what they do in the morning today? I don't know if they do it every day.
Peter Rosenberg
What's that?
Don Hahn
I think they just do it on Monday.
Peter Rosenberg
They.
Don Hahn
The Family Feud. It's a very good segment that they do in the morning. I always wanted to do a.
Peter Rosenberg
How do they do it? How do they do they poll people?
Don Hahn
I don't know.
Peter Rosenberg
You know, I used to do it with Bart and I used to put it right. Jacob remembers. I would put out a poll on four or five topics each morning and see how the people would vote because it was Bart versus. So Bart would have to pick what he thinks people would have said. Right. And a lot of times then he would get mad because he'd think the popular answer was stupid and it made it entertaining.
Don Hahn
Well, the.
Peter Rosenberg
But it's a lot of work.
Don Hahn
It must be something on a website because there's no way they polled this many people. Because the one that I caught this morning is jobs that begin with a J. And the number one answer was janitor62. Like they're not talking to like a hundred people. So they must get. They must get it off a website.
Peter Rosenberg
The first thing I thought of was journalist.
Don Hahn
Journalist was also on the list.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. The way that one of the horses. Wasn't that the second place in the journalism?
Don Hahn
I think it was journalism. Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
And there was also publisher. Right. Another horse was named publisher.
Don Hahn
I didn't. You know, they could erase that around my house. I wouldn't have looked out the window.
Kofi
Now that would have. Even if they were on the house.
Peter Rosenberg
You wouldn't have looked out the window.
Kofi
Even at your house.
Don Hahn
Just if I had to describe if.
Kofi
You heard the cloppity clop right out outside your window, you're not going, why is there a clop?
Peter Rosenberg
That would have been really loud.
Don Hahn
I would have been able to describe it to the police.
Peter Rosenberg
So your yard's that big?
Kofi
How big is your house, Don? That you can't. It's pretty big yard. That's impressive.
Peter Rosenberg
Indoor pool and a large enough yard.
Don Hahn
A mile long track. It was Janitor, journalist. There were four of them.
Peter Rosenberg
Jockey man. Is that a job?
Don Hahn
And I forget what the other one was.
Kofi
Juggler.
Peter Rosenberg
Juggler, right. I jugglers a job.
Don Hahn
Anybody saw Clerks? I text Rick mine. It make the list. By the way, that I'm talking about.
Kofi
That'S the more interesting.
Don Hahn
I'm gonna text.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't know. I need to know. Let's keep going with the calls while Don text me something. Probably blue. David and Elizabeth. David, definitely blue.
Derek
What up, Hollywood, huh? What's happening, Don? What up, Rosenberg?
Peter Rosenberg
Hello.
Kofi
Hello.
Derek
All right, so look, I'm gonna be straight up with you gentlemen. So look, I'm really optimistic. I'm really happy that we're in the second round. But I'm a realist. As long as that we're competing and we're in the game, I'm satisfied. As long as I can sit there, watch tonight's game with my daughters, give.
Kofi
A couple high fives.
Derek
When Brunson hits a three or one of the guys hit a three pointer, I'm good. I'm highly satisfied with that. But.
Peter Rosenberg
So this is not house money. This is. You're not calling it house money. What you're calling it is more. I want to see you just be competitive. But my expectations are. This is sort of like, like, like, like under promise, but over deliver. Is that what you're looking for?
Don Hahn
Exactly.
Derek
Exactly. I just want to say this real quick. Exactly. But I do think we can win. We could catch them all surprised because everybody thinks, oh, yeah, we're going to get washed, we're going to lose.
Kofi
We're going to get our doors.
Derek
If we stay competitive and stay in the game, I'm sorry, we could beat them.
Peter Rosenberg
That's it, David, thank you. That's the whole thing. What you were just going to say, Don, if.
Don Hahn
If your favorite team in whatever sport plays to the best of their ability and they lose, then you can walk away saying, we just weren't good enough.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
And there's nothing wrong with that.
Peter Rosenberg
But when you get better, I think.
Don Hahn
We could have played a lot better. And we lost by six. That if we played better, we Would have won. So I love his attitude. I'm optimistic. We played it the best of our ability. They slip up, they take us lightly. Maybe they suffer an injury, have a really bad night. We steal game one. Yeah. There's scenarios in which it can happen. But don't walk away feeling like you could have given more. Because if you give the best, Alan, how could you be disappointed if they play lights out and lose? You just lost to the defending champion.
Kofi
Well, if you play if. Yeah, but that means winning games. Still got to win games. You can't play great if they lose 91, 94 straight games. It doesn't feel good.
Don Hahn
I'm sorry, it's probably doesn't.
Kofi
But I hear what you're saying, too.
Don Hahn
Like, why is it any different?
Kofi
I know, but play to the best of your ability.
Don Hahn
They were better.
Peter Rosenberg
Here's why. Because you've lost eight of the last nine meetings with this team. Eight of the last nine times you played them. You have lost and you got swept. This regular season, you lose four straight games. 91, 90, that still means eight straight losses to this team. Okay, Right. It still means 12 out of 13 times you haven't beaten them. And that just gets to you after a while.
Don Hahn
No, I understand that, but. What? Gotta get a gentleman sweep. Draw blood.
Peter Rosenberg
Better draw blood. Because clearly Cleveland's already compromised. This might be another green carpet to the finals for this team. So that's the part where you just want. Is what. What. What Damian Priest said when he was with us before is the best part. I want to see you throw a punch. I want to see you be as pissed off about the fact that they have owned you and you got to keep hearing about it. That's what you kind of want to see. How much does this really bother you? And how much do you want to put that to rest?
Don Hahn
It doesn't seem realistic that you could play at that level four straight games, lose them all. Like they got a blink.
Peter Rosenberg
Especially with a guy like Brunson, you know he's going to make one heroic shot in this series.
Don Hahn
Because. Because, Peter. Because you said it would still feel bad. Yeah. Because you know what? Then you wonder, were they just toying with us? Like, if every game is close and they win every game, you say, well, did the Celtics give their best effort or could they really have beaten us by 20?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, they bat the bunny.
Don Hahn
They were batting the bunny.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, they bought the bet. They bat the bunny, Don. They do. And it caught them two years ago when they. Right. Remember that? The Miami series.
Kofi
Oh, yeah. They were.
Peter Rosenberg
All of a sudden, they were down 3, 0. They batted the money, then they forced a Game 7. But it got too late, guys got hurt, and they ended up losing game seven.
Don Hahn
So, unfortunately, it is there in them.
Peter Rosenberg
It's in their DNA. Richard in Manhattan wants a little correction.
Don Hahn
Be respectful, Richard.
Peter Rosenberg
Hello, Richard.
Kofi
Bring it. Dick. Dick.
Don Hahn
No.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, no, Nothing.
Kofi
Come on. I want a dick right now.
Peter Rosenberg
No, nothing. All right, don't wait.
Don Hahn
Was that the drop?
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, that's just a drop that got me excited. All right. Richard was not there.
Kofi
Oh, no.
Don Hahn
Oh, you know, he must be deep.
Peter Rosenberg
In teeth right now.
Kofi
Yeah, someone's got a mouthful of Richard.
Don Hahn
Here's what I'm thinking.
Peter Rosenberg
Wait a minute. There's another way you could have put that.
Kofi
Aren't you call.
Don Hahn
You're. You're about to call.
Peter Rosenberg
He.
Don Hahn
Richard of Manhattan didn't make him wait. New York, as you're saying that, the patient in his chair is just hemorrhaging blood from their mouth. Why do I think, like, it's a face off? He's looking at the phone, looking at her with blood all over the walls, looks back at the phone, and then finally says, you know what? Hippocratic oath. I've dedicated myself. I'm gonna go save her life.
Peter Rosenberg
I'll call them back.
Don Hahn
But he did think hard about it. That's what I'm hoping for a minute.
Peter Rosenberg
Maybe ask the dental assistant. Just hang on to this.
Don Hahn
Oh, he exhausted every other opportunity. Now he's like, you know what? I should save her life. Hopeful. Still with us.
Peter Rosenberg
If he calls back telling us he's covered in blood, what a scene.
Don Hahn
Like, I'm just picturing, like, a scene from Dexter Will in Hawaii.
Peter Rosenberg
Good reference, Will.
Derek
What's up, fellas? How you doing?
Peter Rosenberg
Good.
Derek
Ap. You got to choose different words, man. When you said mouthful of Richard. I know.
Don Hahn
Well, he knows what he's talking.
Kofi
This isn't an accident.
Derek
Yeah, I'm walking to beach, sipping an adult beverage right now. It's a beautiful day here.
Kofi
I love it.
Peter Rosenberg
Look at you, Flex.
Derek
Hey, man, you got to enjoy life, right? Alan, actually, you like this, too? I'm listening. I'm listening on the transistor radio right now, too. Come on, I was gonna. No, I'm joking.
Peter Rosenberg
I bet.
Derek
Look, I'm not mad. I'm not mad at what Porzingis said, man. They're a great team. Yeah, they swept us during the regular season, but I believe. Alan, I think Detroit did, as well.
Peter Rosenberg
Detroit?
Don Hahn
Three out of four.
Peter Rosenberg
Three out of. Yeah, they. They took three, including two on Your home court. So.
Derek
Yeah, okay. Yeah, I'm not. You know what? Anything can happen, man. I'm hopeful. I'd love for us to, you know, as Damian Priest said, throw a punch, make it a game. I don't want to get swept, you know, if we lose by one each time, that doesn't mean anything. I'm really hopeful, man. I'm looking forward to it. Looking forward to seeing the game. It starts really early here, about 1:00, so. Yeah, you guys, you know, I've been enjoying the show, hanging out here, so great job today.
Peter Rosenberg
So let me ask you a question, Will, because I've never been. Of the 50 states, that's the one state out of, like, I think six. I've never been to Hawaii. Are you. That. You live there? Are you on a little vacation?
Derek
No, no, I live in California. I'm from the Bronx. I live in California. But I'm here right now on vacation with my family.
Peter Rosenberg
It's nothing better than that. All right, give me one time.
Derek
It's.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, no, it's, it's, it's. It's definitely on the, on the, on the bucket list. What's. Just describe the weather for me real quick, because right now in New York, it's 60 degrees, pouring rain, like, miserable. Just absolute. Just kick you in the. In the sack kind of weather. What do you got going on right now?
Kofi
Kick you in the sack weather.
Derek
Right. Right now it's about 83. About 80% humidity. It's a little sticky, somewhat cloudy, not bad at all. I got my toes in the sand. Just chilling, man. It's really beautiful out here.
Peter Rosenberg
God bless you, Will. Enjoy every minute of it. He's got a drink in his hand and toes in the sand.
Don Hahn
My wife hates flying, so Hawaii, maybe.
Peter Rosenberg
Stephanie's got that as like a we need to kind of thing. And that's one of those where you're leaving the kids behind. It's a big headache, but we gotta do it.
Don Hahn
I got her to cross country once, got her to Arizona once. Okay, so I guess maybe Arizona. Arizona to Hawaii. Break it up a little bit.
Kofi
Look, don't. He's lying to himself.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, is it happening?
Kofi
He's just. He's humoring himself, but he knows you're.
Peter Rosenberg
Trying to make it happen.
Kofi
No, he's not.
Peter Rosenberg
What if you just, like, if she just. You just knocked her out, so she's, she's, she's out cold.
Kofi
Back to the caveman thing again.
Peter Rosenberg
No, I don't mean that kind of knockout. I mean, you know, you give Her. A little sedative through the flight.
Don Hahn
What he's describing is the modern day version of the caveman.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, get her through the flight.
Kofi
Well, but it is a great point. Like Natalie when she just went there for a cannon thing. There's a direct from Newark.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes.
Kofi
Although these days, nothing from Newark feels direct. But. But that's for another time.
Peter Rosenberg
Still make you feel waited. Yeah.
Kofi
Directly to waiting at the bar all day. But she. It does a direct flight. You couldn't. She couldn't just take something at the start of the flight. Basically sleep through the whole thing.
Peter Rosenberg
Little sedative. Just sleep right through it. Wake her up when you land.
Don Hahn
That's something to think about.
Peter Rosenberg
It's important part. Shouldn't like. Right.
Don Hahn
Gotta be careful. One of her friends does that.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
And she took it too early. And then it was delayed on the tarmac and she wakes up and she's still in Newark. You gotta wait till you take flight.
Peter Rosenberg
You gotta be in the air when you take.
Kofi
Is it the actual time on the plane she hates or is it the overall experience?
Don Hahn
It's the. It's the claustrophobia.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
I go through it too. A little bit of just that idea that, you know, what if I want to get off? I can't. Like a bus, I just. I ring the bell. Car. I can pull over. There is something about not the people, just the idea that I'm here for the next 12 hours. I ain't going anywhere.
Kofi
I can't.
Peter Rosenberg
You gotta spring for first class. Get a pod and just knock yourself out in the pod. You don't even realize you're on the plane anymore.
Don Hahn
I'm afraid to tell you what we binged on the way to Arizona.
Peter Rosenberg
All right.
Don Hahn
I would give you a thousand guesses. You wouldn't know what television show we binged on the way.
Peter Rosenberg
And it got her through just to get through it.
Don Hahn
I got her through.
Peter Rosenberg
I just read your text, by the way.
Kofi
And by the way, in binging for a pod to Hawaii these days, Don would need a new job first.
Peter Rosenberg
Think so.
Kofi
Oh, my God.
Peter Rosenberg
You know how much money this guy makes?
Kofi
Hold on, I'm looking.
Peter Rosenberg
This yard is big enough that you.
Kofi
Could put the Kentucky Derby and he wouldn't even know.
Peter Rosenberg
Churchill Downs all the way around.
Kofi
I know. I was just.
Peter Rosenberg
And he still wouldn't hear him.
Kofi
I was looking today at our vacation plans. We're attempting to go to Europe this summer. It's so messed up, man. Like, it's Delta One.
Peter Rosenberg
Mm.
Kofi
You're talking about the economy trip, round trip. This Is to, like, nice. Like south of France.
Peter Rosenberg
Sure.
Kofi
Like $1,100 or something. Round trip. If you want to go Delta One to have the full fancy experience. $9,000 a ticket you need. That's beyond first class. That's.
Don Hahn
That's a whole vacation. Right.
Peter Rosenberg
They carry you onto the plane, you get a massage the whole flight.
Kofi
Well, what kind of massage? Let's have a conversation.
Peter Rosenberg
Six hours. Seven.
Kofi
Seven.
Peter Rosenberg
Seven. Yeah.
Kofi
I'm not that great.
Peter Rosenberg
Not terrible, by the way.
Don Hahn
Ready? What do you got, Chico on the Man.
Kofi
Of course you did. That was the binge.
Don Hahn
That was the binge, Chico and the.
Peter Rosenberg
Man was the binge.
Don Hahn
And I hadn't seen it since it was on.
Kofi
Never seen.
Don Hahn
It was actually fun. Well, you were young. It was off time.
Kofi
Yeah. This did not have a lot of staying power.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, but it was a Chico. Well, speaking of binges, you know what's coming up next.
Kofi
I know what it is.
Don Hahn
Yeah. The NFL.
Peter Rosenberg
The NFL binge.
Don Hahn
Not the Blitz. The binge.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, The Blitz was a. That was a video game, I think, back in the day. NFL Blitz.
Don Hahn
It's got Michael Strahan.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
It's like. It's. It came out, like, oh, two Super Nintendo or something. I had it preserved. I still had it sealed, hidden away down in the man.
Peter Rosenberg
GameCube. Oh, it was great. We played all the time.
Don Hahn
I thought maybe worth something. 23 years old, still in the.
Peter Rosenberg
Nothing.
Don Hahn
Marco. I come down. I come down into the basement. He. He tore it opens. Playing it on my PS3.
Peter Rosenberg
You know, it's that back then, couple years later, Zach's learning, you know, the video game thing. And it's. It's Xbox and all that stuff. And it's seven different buttons you got to press just to get a slap shot. And I'm like, bud, three button. That's all you needed. It's three buttons. It's all you need.
Don Hahn
It's still one button.
Peter Rosenberg
It's. It's. But like, he's like, hitting, like. Oh, you just hit L2, R1. Up, down, left, right. What are we doing here, by the way? The NFL life was better in 8.
Don Hahn
Peter would like you were allowed to body slam the quarterback.
Kofi
Well, like you dream about.
Peter Rosenberg
So good. NFL Blitz was awesome.
Don Hahn
It was crazy.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.

Catch the show on demand whenever you want. Just subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts. This is the NFL Binge.
Kofi
Hi, how's everyone doing?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, before we start, let's let everybody know because we got a full bank of calls on the Knicksman. We will get to the calls at 800-919-3776 but we've got to get to our NFL binge of course, like you dream about.
Kofi
Now the first story is a Washington related story. I think it's the biggest football news of the day. I personally could give tune, you know what's about it. But you, the Washington Commanders will finally host the NFL draft.
Peter Rosenberg
Yay. Now why do you say it like that?
Kofi
Because I don't care.
Peter Rosenberg
But you don't think it's. I don't know. You don't think it's a big deal that your team. No, you're a market. That's, that's now starting to really percolate again.
Don Hahn
No, no, no no no no no no.
Kofi
I just don't care. But I'll like here's the thing. So of course now the Commanders are supposedly going to be back in D.C. the deal's not completely done, but it looks like it's going to be happening.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay.
Kofi
And now it looks like Washington will get the 2027 NFL Draft, so. Right. So that's before a stadium would even be.
Peter Rosenberg
So by then, you'll. You'll. You'll probably have the 32nd pick in the draft.
Don Hahn
Oh, see, that's what he's hoping. That's what I hope.
Kofi
So why would I. Why would I care about this? Now, here's the deal. They're going to. They went to the White House today. Josh Harris hanging out with the prez.
Peter Rosenberg
Sure.
Kofi
For the big announcement. By the way, what does the.
Peter Rosenberg
We love the commies, by the way.
Kofi
Can I ask you, what does the president have to do with this?
Peter Rosenberg
This in D.C. yeah, this town.
Kofi
But wouldn't that be like the mayor?
Peter Rosenberg
No, I don't.
Kofi
I mean, I guess they're having it. So they're having it down on the National Mall.
Peter Rosenberg
Really? Yeah. Oh, that's gonna look cool.
Kofi
So it's where the monument.
Peter Rosenberg
Admit that's pretty freaky. Yeah.
Kofi
No, if our. If our. If the Washington Monument and Capitol are still standing, then I think it'll be a great place to hold this event.
Peter Rosenberg
I believe it'll still be standing.
Kofi
You know what? I'm hopeful. I'm optimistic as well. So you'll have the monument. It'll be right there on the Mall, which I admit, I'm being a Debbie Down. It is a cool look. Yeah. Now, the draft is in Pittsburgh next year. Green Bay attracted 600,000 fans over three days.
Peter Rosenberg
So you don't care, but everybody else does.
Kofi
Apparently, Detroit had the record attendance two years ago, 750,000. There are people who believe that 20, 27. It'll be on the Mall. Now, here's the one thing I'll throw in. The cool thing about it is you have the April draft. It's like, depending how the season goes, you could still have cherry blossoms around. It is a lovely time.
Peter Rosenberg
Beautiful time to be there.
Kofi
To be there. Now, it depends on the year because we see what the weather's like right now. But depending on the year, maybe we'll luck out.
Don Hahn
Here's the way it's going to look. When Forrest Gump spoke and they cut his mic, that's what it's going to look like.
Kofi
It'll be that packed.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
And Jenny's going to run across the water forest.
Kofi
Can I say something, by the way?
Peter Rosenberg
You've heard.
Kofi
You've heard the. You've heard the promo of Dave Rothenberg Ripping on Jenny from Forrest Gump?
Don Hahn
No, I have not heard that.
Kofi
You've heard that, right, Anthony, when was this?
Peter Rosenberg
Didn't I rip on Jenny from Forrest Gump? Yes, and you guys shot me down.
Kofi
No, but, yes, I disagree with you. But let me just say this. Even so, you know, they want to talk about. If we do a phone call segment, they go, oh, the afternoons they're taking phone calls. They ripped us off. We invented phone calls. I'm gonna say this, Don. I believe Dave going after Jenny from Forrest Gump is ripping off Don going for what's her face from Titanic.
Don Hahn
Rose.
Kofi
Rose. I believe that is a ripoff, whether intentional or unintentional, and I believe it's wrong.
Peter Rosenberg
But didn't we bring up Jenny?
Kofi
Yeah, well, we did.
Don Hahn
We did. Can I hear it?
Kofi
Do you have that promo anywhere? Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, dig it up. We'll dig it. That's. That's not an NFL. That's not NFL worthy.
Kofi
Well, Dave is. When you think of Dave, you think of two things. NFL and binging.
Peter Rosenberg
Wow.
Kofi
I was proud. I was proud of that.
Peter Rosenberg
That was pretty good.
Kofi
All right, so one day, Abdul Carter will find a number.
Peter Rosenberg
He doesn't have a number yet.
Don Hahn
He's.
Kofi
No, he's got to find one, because first. First he tried Lawrence Taylor's 56.
Don Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
How'd that go?
Kofi
To which LT said, Nah, not gonna happen. And then he decided to go for Phil Sims 11. Also a no, apparently.
Don Hahn
Yeah, well, he. Phil had no problem with it, but his family's like, wait a minute. No, you're not doing that.
Peter Rosenberg
So, yeah, we have audio. We have audio of Phil talking about it. Yeah.
Kofi
Let's see. Let's hear Phil. This is Phil on FanDuel TV.
Don Hahn
Hey, look, I told some. Some of my friends and people around.
Kofi
Me, I said, oh, I'd let him.
Don Hahn
Have it in a second. I said, can you just help it a little and make it better or whatever? I think it would be a lot of fun. It wouldn't bother me. But would you really?
Kofi
Really, though?
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, that's a pretty big honor. The 11.
Don Hahn
You're not gonna get what is right. Yeah, it's just whatever.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't know.
Don Hahn
I just go if they really want it.
Peter Rosenberg
But my wife.
Kofi
I don't know if my family said anything. The boys didn't say anything. But my agent.
Don Hahn
Don't you dare give up that jersey number.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, first of all, Bill Carter is.
Don Hahn
Going to ask for it.
Peter Rosenberg
If he would have it. It was up to me. I probably would give it to him now.
Kofi
I will say this.
Peter Rosenberg
He'd give it the number.
Kofi
The. The 11 of Phil is more reasonable a conversation than the 56. It would have hit better had he not already tried for the 56.
Don Hahn
I get. You know.
Kofi
You know what I'm saying?
Don Hahn
It's a good point. Because the audacity to go for 56, that's great players. Players. Not just defender players, defensive player. One of the great players of all time, Phil Sims, not in the hall of Fame.
Kofi
Phil Sims is a top 15 giant of all time. Okay. We're talking about. Lt's a top five player of all time. So it's a different kind of ask.
Don Hahn
And also, is it different when you're playing on the other side of the ball? Like, There's Phil Sims 11 quarterback, and now there's going to be Carter 11 playing on the other side.
Kofi
It looks completely different.
Don Hahn
You can establish a whole different leg defense number.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, yeah. So you don't have as much of an issue with that as you do.
Don Hahn
The lt. How could I? But I still have an issue with Bol. Can't. Wouldn't you be anxious to go get your own number and establish your own legacy? Why put that pressure on yourself? I'm sorry. Disrespectful is probably too strong of a word, but it is really being tone deaf to the history of the sport and the franchise you're joining. And he seemed like he really understood that the Giants are a pretty significant franchise, have a good history. So why would you want to do that?
Kofi
And why can't they just tell him off top? Like, let's just not do this and keep it all quiet.
Don Hahn
What did I say last?
Kofi
Button it up.
Peter Rosenberg
It doesn't seem like that with the.
Don Hahn
Ray Flaherty letting neighbors wear the number one. And everybody's like, oh, he played 100 years ago. You know, you're already on the. On the second third generation of family. The family didn't have a problem with it. And I said, if John Maris says no to. To this, you shut it down. But once you open it up and allow one number, well, then everybody and their mother's gonna ask. And now it's just a matter of, well, this one's bigger than this one, so I'm gonna allow it. Like, if I'm. If Flaherty was my grandfather, I'd be red hot because I'd be like, oh, so those guys are able to say no. I would have never said yes. But, like, why are you allowing them to make the conversation?
Kofi
Just shut it down.
Don Hahn
Sorry, the numbers retired Buddy, sorry.
Kofi
I know. It really is.
Don Hahn
You open the door, they open the door.
Kofi
They really. They really shouldn't have. Speaking of Malik Neighbors, I don't know if you saw Malik Neighbors. Neighbors was on 7pm in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony.
Don Hahn
Okay.
Kofi
And Mero, my friend Kaz. And he was on with Mel. With Melo and. And Mero and Neighbors talked about his relationship with. You guys. See the clip. Moving around about his relationship with Jaden Daniels. And he basically was just like, it was a pretty cool clip to see the way he thinks of Jaden Daniels and their relationship. And he's like, don't get me wrong, we will always compete. He was like, but that is literally my brother in real life. Like we talk about, our relationship has nothing to do with football. And he said, in fact, when I first got to lsu, I was very much like, I'm the man. This is the way I do things. Like, I'm. That's me. And Jaden Daniels was the guy who played, pulled him aside and was like, you can be doing things way better. And was like such a leader to Malik Neighbors that Neighbors like, I will never have anything to say about him. It was a really neat clip. If you get a chance, check out Mellow.
Peter Rosenberg
So when.
Kofi
Good convo.
Don Hahn
When.
Peter Rosenberg
When Daniels becomes a free agent, the first thing he's going to do is start with the Giants.
Kofi
It's funny you looked at it that way. I'll go the other way around. I'll go, we. We go ahead and use Malik neighborhood.
Peter Rosenberg
You know. You know how it is. New York. Right. It's always. But you're right. The more accurate thing is to say when the Giants fail once again and get me the hell out of here.
Don Hahn
I was just gonna go. It's probably a lot easier to get the wide receiver than prior quarterback.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, well, yeah, It's a New York thing, though. You know how they are. It's like, when are we trading for Giannis?
Kofi
You know, if, God willing, Jaden Daniels, if he continues to be who he's been, my assumption will be he would never set foot out of D.C. ever, for his entire career. But that's a long time from now.
Don Hahn
Until he's like 40 and just, you know, like Johnny Unitis and San Diego now.
Kofi
Speaking of which. Oh, Aaron Rodgers. Is there movement with Rogers down the aisle?
Peter Rosenberg
What.
Kofi
What aisle did Aaron Rodgers get married? Marriage rumors have been sparked after stepping out with a dark colored band on his wedding finger at Louisville's 2025 Barnstable Brown Gala in Kentucky on Friday, which Don was Also in attendance at the ring's debut followed his recent romantic admission when he told Pat McAfee on April 17 that he was dating somebody and things were serious. Quote, I'm in a different. I'm in a different phase of my life. I'm 41 years old. I'm in a serious relationship. I have off the field stuff going on that requires my attention. I love Bobby. I love my personal commitments.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, no, no.
Kofi
His girlfriend's named Brittany. I love Brittany.
Peter Rosenberg
Britney.
Kofi
Yeah. I love Brittany. I love Bobby and I love Brittany.
Peter Rosenberg
This is what we're doing now. Like, we're waiting for the guy to be signed or retired to a point now where we see a ring on his finger.
Kofi
It's something.
Peter Rosenberg
And we just want to talk about whether or not he's married. I'm really not interested.
Don Hahn
Thank you. I just want. Who would be. Why would I care? Even if I was the biggest Aaron Rodgers, if I was Ballard, biggest Aaron Rodgers fan, what would I care? If he's married, single, divorce, like, what would I care?
Peter Rosenberg
Because this is what he's become.
Kofi
Well, he is an interesting one. I'm gonna push back. Okay, so if you found out that Malik neighbors to bring up Malik again because we just brought him up, married his high school sweetheart over the weekend. Oh, you go, that's cute. That's nice. Good for him. I'm happy. Not interesting though. As I joke on the Show Often, every 22 year old in the NFL is married, has kids. Rogers being 41 and single and having no relationship with most of his family and having these very public breakups after these long term relationships. I think him actually getting married would be somewhat interesting because he has been. He doesn't talk to his brother, doesn't talk to his parents. Like he's kind of a lone wolf. The only person we know he talks to is Pat McAfee. So there is some level of intrigue.
Don Hahn
When it comes to Rogers, but not. I can't tell you what if he.
Kofi
Was getting married outside your house during the Kentucky Derby.
Peter Rosenberg
Still wouldn't look out the window.
Don Hahn
I don't think. I wouldn't call the police. I would just ask them to disperse.
Kofi
Please be quiet.
Peter Rosenberg
Just keep it down, Keep it down. Jalen's taking a nap now.
Kofi
Let's. Real quick, let's. Let's hit the Giants for a second. Tim Hesselbeck on ESPN with some interesting thoughts on young Jackson dart.
Peter Rosenberg
It's easier to get better while you're playing than watching somebody else play. He's got all kinds of Talent Jackson Dart does. He's got plenty of time on task. You know, know he's not one of these quarterbacks that's come into the NFL with 20 starts under his belt. He's experienced like I don't think there's any question we see him as the starting quarterback at some point this season for the New York Giants. He understands it. But is that really the plan?
Don Hahn
Well, they, they could be tons of plans. What they're doing. If they're winning games and Wilson's playing well, are they going to pull the plug on him? I don't think so.
Kofi
Well, here's Jeremy Fowler on ESPN saying the opposite. That the Giants plan to sit Dart for quite a while.
Peter Rosenberg
The stage is set for Jackson Dart to sit an extended period and that's ultimately what the New York Giants want. Russell Wilson's in pole position to be QB1. It's similar I'm told to his Pittsburgh situation that the job is loosely yours. As long as you continue to produce and earn it, then you can keep it. Now we know in the NFL that could change week to week in a hurry. But the fact that they added Jameis Winston as well, the fact they feel stronger across the roster, particularly on defense or that defensive line should be really good, they feel like they can win games with just capable turnover free quarterback play that they don't really have to rush this the feeling I get talking to other teams is that Dart was one of the quarterbacks in particular that did need some time. Coming from Ole Miss system though, we'll see. Pressure could change things, but for the most part their blueprint is to sit Dart for a while. That's what it sounds like is the plan is one thing, but it doesn't mean they're going to stick to it.
Don Hahn
But because they had to know that there was a good chance they were going to trade into the first round to get dark.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
And yet they still went out and signed Wilson and Winston. Why?
Peter Rosenberg
Because they felt like insurance that I.
Don Hahn
Don'T want to have the pressure of having to play this kid right away.
Peter Rosenberg
Right.
Don Hahn
So there are scenarios. Wilson gets hurt, Winston isn't good, Dart has a phenomenal camp and he gets that opportunity. But the plan is I've got two veteran quarterbacks that have to fail for me to be able to bring in my, my essentially third string quarterback. So that's the plan. But plans change. Plans change for the positive chance plates for the negative. Right. So.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, it has to do with also if Russell Wilson isn't playing well.
Don Hahn
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
Or the season's gone awry and it's like, all right, well this kid's, you know, we might as well put him in there and see what he's got. So yeah, there's no rush to play him. I think what Fowler is saying is that from what he's hearing, the plan is not to rush him under center, but it all depends on how those other two guys are playing.
Don Hahn
Well, think about what's going to have to happen. What's going to have to happen is if both quarterbacks get injured or fail and you're playing meaningless games in December, that can open a window for Dart. And Dart also is playing great in practice. Had a great time.
Kofi
There's a lot.
Don Hahn
Believe me, the percentages are that he's going to be nailed to the bench probably the entire season.
Kofi
That will do it for your NFL binge on this Monday afternoon.
Peter Rosenberg
At New Balance.
Don Hahn
We believe if you run, you're a.
Kofi

Kofi
I didn't listen to anything you just said.
Peter Rosenberg
Catch the show on demand whenever you want. Just subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts. I didn't know that Damian Priest was a metalhead though. Did you know that? Like I just looking at the, the rings and everything.
Don Hahn
I did not. I did not get that.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm getting to know him. Yeah, real like loves metal.
Don Hahn
Then after seeing like you said, the rings and stuff, you could see that. Yeah, definitely a metalhead, which is pretty cool, man. Yeah, it was fun. It was my dream of doing a podcast or a show in which I would have guests, famous people, but talk about something other than the reason they're famous. Like that would be it. Like to get Metallica on and all they were allowed to talk about were the San Jose Sharks. Right. Or, you know, just something like that.
Peter Rosenberg
But you know that that's how that usually works, right?
Don Hahn
They love it.
Peter Rosenberg
Have been stiller on and all he wants to do is talk to us. But you asked him about dodgeball. He just kind of gives you that look, like, that's nice, too. But I want to win a series.
Don Hahn
Just tired of it.
Peter Rosenberg
Like, that's. That's the most fun to me is when you have the crossover stuff.
Don Hahn
Love it.
Peter Rosenberg
Of athletes who want to talk music or movies and actors and musicians who just want to talk sports. That's when you start to really get to the sweet spot. And by the way, I think that's when you really see personality come out. That's the best part of it.
Don Hahn
Because they get tired of talking about the same old stuff.
Peter Rosenberg
They won't be able to talk about.
Don Hahn
The things you're looking for.
Peter Rosenberg
The lineup.
Don Hahn
I got it.
Peter Rosenberg
You do?
Don Hahn
I do it. Do you have it?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. But if you have a goal, I love it when you do it better.
Don Hahn
This is the Yankee starting lineup brought to you by Certer Pro Painters. Grisham is in center field, batting first. Judge is in right field batting second, batting third. Rice, he's the DH Goldschmidt, batting cleanup and is playing first. Guy can lead off. He can clean up. Bellinger coming off a home run the other day, batting fifth in left field, Volpe, as you mentioned in the lineup, batting 6, your shortstop, Austin Wells is your catcher and he's batting seventh. Paraza is batting a third baseman. Vivas is at second and he'll be.
Peter Rosenberg
At a nice hit. You see that?
Don Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Big at the time. Anyway, it was a big hit to RBI single.
Don Hahn
And Rodon is your starter.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay.
Don Hahn
And that is the Yankee starting lineup brought to you by Certapro Painters. When choosing a painting professional for your home or business, the choice is simple. Choose Happy. Choose Certapro Painters.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, back to the calls. Yes, you do. Back to the calls. We go. 800 now. 193776. Quickly on pucks here. Nestor in Arizona. Nestor.
Don Hahn
Hey, guys.
Derek
Thank you for taking my call. I just had a question. Will last night's Game 7 finish between the Winnipeg jets go down as one of the craziest comebacks? And do you think Winnipeg beats the stars? I personally do, because I think that Hallebuq would be the biggest difference make. Just want to hear your guys's take.
Don Hahn
Well, I think he was. It was. He was bailed out. Yeah, he was going to be the reason why they lost that series. He played awful. He played awful to start the game. Kyrue scores less than two minutes in, gives up a late goal in the second period. They're down two. He was going to be the clear cut goat had they lost that series and he's sitting on the bench. And they scored two goals in the final two minutes, including the game tying goal with less than two seconds to play in regulation. And then he's great in overtime and the two overtimes they win. So it's like he got let out of jail. He was given a reprieve and it's a really good team. I need to know if Morrissey's healthy. He got hurt very early in that game. They're playing five defenseman Allen throughout that entire game. Scheifele didn't play in game six or seven, but they're not playing until Wednesday. But you've got hiskin in right now. And Robertson out for Dallas. Maybe they'll get them back.
Peter Rosenberg
It sounds like they could be back.
Don Hahn
If both of them listen, Dallas to me looks like the better team.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes. Especially the way they really missed Robertson. You could tell they really missed him.
Don Hahn
No, they do, but they. You know, Ranton had the amazing game seven against his old team on revenge game. What a great couple of game sevens the NHL got. Especially getting. I was talking about this on my podcast. Even though Winnipeg St. Louis is not sexy compared to Dallas Colorado, it would have been cooler had last night's game been the one on ABC because people would have turned on 11 o'clock to watch news. Got sucked into an amazing overtime. That was a great third period too. Yeah, but it didn't have that drama because of the overtime, late goals and then going overtime two seconds.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, are you kidding me? Two list ideas coming off this one list idea could be greatest revenge games ever. Because that, come on, that's a revenge game for the age of Saturday night. And the assist too, by the way. Yeah, all right, that's Revenge games is one the greatest. You know again, great. Greatest is not the right word, but greatest. Meltdowns, flops, right where you. You the game is there to be. It's there. It's in your pocket now and you give it away. Right? So there's those and then the other one is just the easy one to do, which is the. The best. Boston New York battles.
Don Hahn
Wow, there's a bunch. And that's.
Kofi
Listen, the thing that like has to be said about the Winnipeg goal at the end of regulation is you could watch hockey Your entire life. And the amount of times that you will see a tying goal when your team is down under 10 seconds, Don, you may never see it for your team your whole life, honestly.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, a game tying goal in the playoffs. Never mind an elimination game.
Kofi
But by the way, Don, I'm talking about any. You may never see your team score inside five seconds. End of a game you watch night at night.
Peter Rosenberg
Five seconds. Oh yeah.
Kofi
Which never happens. For it to happen.
Peter Rosenberg
Crazy.
Kofi
Back against the wall in your building. You're about to be eliminated. And instead you score with a second and a half left. It just.
Peter Rosenberg
And the tic tac toe of that play was still insane.
Don Hahn
It was still to the slot tip goal.
Kofi
Perfect.
Don Hahn
Now listen, St. Louis won a cup just a couple of years ago in 2019. So it's not like it was.
Peter Rosenberg
Believe it or not, it's still.
Don Hahn
I know, but. And listen, they were the lowest seed in the Western Conference. I don't know how far they would have gotten had they won that series. But there's less than two minutes to play. You're up two goals. You won game six going away. You've outplayed the Winnipeg jets in the game. Their goaltender is a sieve. They look dead. They did play well in the third period, but you're. You're overcoming him. Bennington's probably one of the most underrated players in the NHL.
Peter Rosenberg
He's got a time money.
Don Hahn
Nobody ever talks about him. He's a money goaltender. That game is over. It's over. Domestikov scores. All right. Three, two. Waning seconds. This is the great thing about the Internet or social media. There's all these videos of Blues fans anticipating the win, videotaping their reaction. And you're seeing people like collapse throwing TVs 1.6. They end up putting more time back on the clock. But in real time, he's like, this game is over.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
And then you go to. Oh, it just. It was really exhilarating. So. But I can't imagine what Blues fans are feeling right now. That game was over. I.
Kofi
To be up like that and I just. It's. It's so bad.
Don Hahn
My 2. We can probably have this conversation too. Like just ask you real quick. I know we're up against the clock. Worst losses for me. Giants Vikings 97 into the playoffs, nine point lead with two minutes to go. And then of course the San Francisco game where they blew the huge lead. I don't think either of those teams were winning a Super bowl. But still, it was crippling to see your Team lose when you know it's won so quick. Peter, worst loss.
Kofi
You already know mine. It came up the other day when Jay Williams was on terps under Maryland. 10, 10, 10 points in 51 seconds or whatever.
Peter Rosenberg
It was the miracle minute.
Kofi
That's the. It's the worst one by far.
Peter Rosenberg
97 against the Heat. Game seven, like, just like again, a series that you were winning, you owned. You were going to finally play the Bulls. And then the fight happens. You lose, people. Game six, you lose. But game seven, Tim Hardaway Jr. Hits a shot like, all right, so there's one. And then. And then for me, it's not a moment, but a week. And it's.04 Yankees Reds. It's.
Don Hahn
It's the worst. That's a car crash in slow motion.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, yeah.
Don Hahn
It's like. Like those NASCAR crashes when they slow it down and the car just continues to tumble and tumble.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
I don't feel remotely bad for you as a Met fan, but still as a. As a friend, that somebody that cares for you deeply. That must have really.
Peter Rosenberg
That. That. That is again, like just feeling it was going the wrong way. And then of course, game seven was embarrassing.
Kofi
I just. Why? Jay Will hits a layup to cut it to eight. Then he's. Then he steals it and hits the three to cut it to five.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, that three was back to back. Unreal.
Kofi
And then by then, I don't know why, at that point where they've cut it from 10 to 5 in 12 seconds, I should have known. We're in serious. There's 48 seconds left. Now it's only 5.
Don Hahn
I missed that interview. I was on a wave pool with the kids on Friday, by the way.
Kofi
I do want to say this, though. He brought it on Friday.
Peter Rosenberg
