Don La Greca
The Rangers are playing the Leafs tonight.
Peter Rosenberg
I know, I know. You know what? I could have gotten a ride back with the Leafs. I don't know where their next stop is. You probably do. Where are the Leafs tomorrow?
Don La Greca
I don't know.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, come on, Don. Do the. Do the work for Christ's sake. You can write the numbers down for the capital.
Don La Greca
You think it's important for me as the Ranger announcer to tell you where Toronto is going to be?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. That's the level I want.
Don La Greca
Penguins.
Peter Rosenberg
They play the Penguins.
Don La Greca
No, they don't play the Penguins.
Peter Rosenberg
It's a Charger. Now there's a Ram.
Don La Greca
They play the Penguins Sunday. Okay, see, Jacob just had an Andrew Gunley moment.
Peter Rosenberg
What'd he do? He guided you the wrong way.
Don La Greca
Information. That was. That was right, but yet wrong. And then we almost had that. He's a Raven, you know. He's a Charger. No, it's the Sharks.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, he's a Ram, all right.
Don La Greca
Getting old, Canada. Here.
Peter Rosenberg
This is perfect. This is the perfect way to get me to Toronto tomorrow for elimination. Cham. Alright, let's get to the phone lines. We got a special 6 o'clock ENN. In a few minutes we're gonna have the Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels, the WWE legend. By the way, if you're among the old fans of the show who used to listen to the K show, who like to freak out and get your panties in a bunch and send angry messages on Twitter going, this is the.
Shawn Michaels
Problem with the show.
Peter Rosenberg
I just want to say we're so sorry. So, so sorry you feel that way. Let's talk to Courtland in Queens. Actually. What? Cortland, I'll leave you on hold Let hang on, Cortland. Let's wait till Allen gets back because he has beef with Alan. Let's. Let's wait till Allen's there to defend the beef. Let's go to Ira in Staten island instead. Hey, Ira.
Shawn Michaels
Hey, Peter. Dylan, what's happening? So, you know, this Roger story is absolutely fascinating. And as a Jets fan, I'm certainly hoping he goes to Pittsburgh because I want Fields to shake loose. I really, you know, I have no. Nothing bad about Rogers. Hopefully he goes somewhere and he plays well next year. But I just. I just don't see him being a good fit for the Giants with the way they run their organization and John Mara, with all the baggage that comes with Rogers. Forget about the stuff on the field. He could still play, but with everything else, I just don't see the Giants organization dealing with that type of crap.
Don La Greca
You're not wrong.
Shawn Michaels
Iraq.
Don La Greca
I just don't think there'd be any crap now. I could be all wet on this, but I just don't know how. How could he pull it? Peter, like, if you come here, if the Giants draft a quarterback and you come here knowing that you're just a stopgap to like, are you going to make waves? Why did you sign in the first place? I don't. I think those days are over.
Shawn Michaels
Man.
Don La Greca
How arrogant can you be as a human being to think that you have that kind of sway anymore after what's happened over the last couple of years. Again, I could be wrong. And I think he would have mind his P's and Q's the first time with the jets had he not gotten hurt. And I ended up being right about that take until he got hurt. And then he started going on McAfee and there was nothing to talk about. So then he started to go and start revealing state secrets and everything else. Because the feeling was, hey, they set the president. Hey, Aaron, do what you want. We need you. I don't think that's gonna be the case here with the Giants. He wants he would use the Giants as a way to stay in the league. He's not going to have that kind of sway with this organization. He's not in that same place he was when he came with the Jets. Jets gave him the key to the city. You think the Giants are going to do that?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. No, I totally agree with you. I don't think there's a world in which Rodgers can. Would continue to be that guy. I just don't see it. 1-800-9193776 and if you missed the start of the show. We talked about the fact that Matt Stafford going back to la, there was clearly interest from the Giants, but just no appeal to Stafford to make that move. And, and Don made a really astute point early in the show, which is that, you know, if they were really interested in Stafford and now if the rumors are true that they're kicking the can on Aaron Rodgers, that has to make you think they're not at least currently in love, Don, with anyone that they could get at three. That's a really good point by you because why would they have been interested in first Stafford and now Rogers? Wouldn't we know already if, because we know they're going to have the option to get someone at 3, wouldn't we know that they were in love with someone?
Don La Greca
Well, but I would think so.
Shawn Michaels
Right?
Don La Greca
That's why I mentioned it. Because, you know, you don't get Stafford and draft a quarterback because you're going to have Stafford for like two, three years and you're not going to have a quarterback sit there for that long. But Aaron Rodgers, I see you doing that. So is it, is it a true pivot? So I don't know what they're thinking is at this particular point. Plus, you say that one of these quarterbacks would be available to three. Do we know that for sure?
Peter Rosenberg
No, we don't. I mean, depending on what Cleveland does, of course, you know, it's impossible. Yeah.
Don La Greca
I mean, you're never going to know. They're not going to tell you anything.
Peter Rosenberg
You know, if you're, if you're Cleveland, by the way, aren't you trying to draft a quarterback because you're, you're saddled with the Watson contract, but you could get a rookie to play instead.
Don La Greca
Unless they just don't like these two quarterbacks. That's what we don't know. But how can the Giants, like, think about this? Like they want Stafford because they're not love with one of the quarterbacks. Right. Well, then all of a sudden you fall in love with the quarterbacks because Stafford's gone. Like, do you leave the love them or you don't? So that's why I think just the idea that they were in on Stafford. The only two reasons you could be on, on Stafford is one, you're afraid that the, the quarterback that you want will not be there at three. Or you don't like either of these two quarterbacks. And I'm kind of leaning towards that because that just seems like to be the feeling around, like Rogers was even in there. But Can Rogers be the backup or at least be the mentor to the young kid? Or are they looking to pivot to, hey, we're just trying to win. So we tried to get Stafford, didn't work out. Now we're going to try to get Rogers for the exact same reason, just shorter term because we won't be able to have Rogers for three years the way we'd have Stafford. But it just doesn't. And all the mocks and everything just makes you feel like the people that are in the know, if they're truly in the know, don't think the Giants are interested in either of these quarterbacks.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, we will get right back to the quarterbacks of it all. And if you want to get in on that conversation, call now. 1-800-919-3776. But without any further ado, the two time hall of Famer, the legend, the showstopper, Mr. WrestleMania, the heartbreak kid. Play my man's music. Shawn Michaels is on Don Han and Rosenberg on a Friday. I think I'm cute. I know I'm sexy.
Shawn Michaels
I've got the look that drives and go wild.
Peter Rosenberg
The man, him himself, a pivotal figure in WWE history and of course a pivotal role right now when it comes to developing the young talent at nxt. And he joins us right now. Hbk, what's up, man? It is Peter and Don legreca. How are you?
Shawn Michaels
I'm doing great. How y'all doing? Yeah, it's kind of a, you have to put a quick to talk about the football and, you know, Rogers and Stafford and whatnot. We're going to be talking about WWE from this point forward. So actually when it comes to you, Rosenberg, you're the big man on campus these days.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, so I was told that you wanted to come on here and had something to say, so I'll give you the floor. Hbk, what is going on?
Shawn Michaels
All righty. Well, look, obviously proud to announce that you, Peter Rosenberg, been on radio for years in New York City. You've hosted darn near every WWE show imaginable. And Starting this Wednesday, March 5th at 8:00pm, you my man, are going to be the voice of the new WWE Evolve Show. And God knows we're very excited about having you man the ship for us there on WWE Evolve.
Peter Rosenberg
Hbk, thank you. First of all, it means the world that you came on here to say that. And it means the world to me to be able to do it. WWE Evolve starts Wednesday on Tubi on at 8:00. And Tubi of course, is free to everyone. It's an app. Everybody can watch. It's blowing up. And this is the first WWE show on Tubi. Super excited about it, Sean. It's, it's. I've wanted to do play by play in wrestling since I was a little kid, so it's a dream come true for me. How would you describe and how have you been describing what Evolve is to people who ask?
Shawn Michaels
Well, look, first look, before we even get into the Evolve, I gotta tell you, look, it's big for us having you on the show again. And I know you come around in our world and look, we kind of, you know, like we do with everybody, we credit, we treat you like everybody else, but you are a. Look, you're a big deal and obviously you've got a great voice and just a great reach out there. So we're very fortunate, all kidding aside, to have you being a part of this is really, really big for us and very much appreciate you coming down and doing this. And because, look, Evolve is like, it's going to be, you know, our newest show is going to be focusing on, you know, we talk about NXT being the future, the next generation of Superstars. Well, before nxt, there is LFG and then there is Evolve. And this is the next next generation of Superstars that are starting. And we've got so many amazing talent to train at the WWE Performance center in Orlando. And now we've got these WWID talent coming from all over the world and mixing with our performance center talent, and they're going to make up the competitors of this evolved show. So again, once again, in Orlando is where the WWE and the future of the WWE for literally years and decades to come is going to come from. And people are going to have the opportunity on Wednesday night to start watching that generation, just as the word says evolve and grow into NXT Superstars, and hopefully the WWE Raw and SmackDown Superstars of the future.
Don La Greca
Sean, as you develop these young athletes, what are the boxes they have to click? What are the things that you're looking at as you develop these athletes?
Shawn Michaels
Well, look, one of the things, first of all, again, the athleticism, I think, you know, Pete Oort knows, and again, that's one of the things that we love about having all you guys again, you know, sports, you know, athletes, when you see them, and that's how the WWE has gotten, you know, so much reach and so much respect over the years, is that people now have a really good understanding of the athleticism that it takes to do what we do. So I look, I would say that that box first and foremost is a must, but then you start to get into things again. If we could, you know, the factors, what everybody talks about, and it's very hard to describe, but it's a presence, a charisma, something that, you know, a superstar a lot of times we feel either has or doesn't have. And yes, there are some people that you can develop it in and those are what we look for. One is the athletic ability. Do they have a presence, do they have a charisma about them? Or do they have again, just something in there that makes us want to at least continue to try to tap and search for finding that. Some people again, we can sort of see it immediately. Other people we can see in six months or a year, or even watch them develop right there in front of us and turn into an NXT Superstar and a WWE Superstar. So it's, it's a couple little boxes there. And I would say that it's the years of experience that so many of us have that helps us kind of notice that when we see it. And now, of course, as many people know, you know, we've got people like the Undertaker, Booker T. Barbara Dudley, Mickey James and numerous other legends that come down to the performance center on a regular basis. So now these, you know, these athletes and these WWID talent are being seen by numerous legends, numerous Superstars in the WWE world and everybody again has an opportunity to show those people what they have. And then obviously the chances of making it increase tenfold when you have somebody like that helping you out.
Peter Rosenberg
And I got to tell people out there, and obviously I'm super excited about this show. It starts Wednesday at 8:00 on Tubi. You're going to be blown away by the level of some of the talent because one of the questions, cool things about it, Don, is that yes, some of the kids are coming from the performance center, some of them have been working the indies for years and really know what they're doing in the ring. They just haven't gotten the opportunity yet to get polished and sort of learn the WWE style. So you may get matches where you have a 22 year old who's been working out in the Performance center for the last two years up against someone who spent the last 10 years toiling around the indie world and desperate for this opportunity. So it's really cool to kind of see these people come together. Sean, I gotta ask you, do you, how much do you miss actually being in the ring? It's now, like you've kind of hit that period now enough time since your last appearance where I'm sure it really feels final for you. Do you still, like, dream about it and miss it, or do you feel close enough to it now? And are you so invested as a teacher that you no longer miss the physical part of it?
Shawn Michaels
I have to be honest, I'm so invested in what I do now. And it's a different. It's a transfer of emotion. That same feeling that I used to get being in there and that satisfaction that I get, I now get from watching these young men and women, the people that we spend so much time with and investing and watching them have their moment. So it's a transfer of that emotion, and it's a wonderful, wonderful thing. I'm very comfortable behind the scenes. I actually really get more nervous now than ever when I do have to go out there and do something on camera because I'm so comfortable backstage. But it really is. It's a totally different kind of satisfaction and a wonderful time because it isn't about you. It isn't greedy, it isn't selfish. It's more you being just a part of watching someone else get to fulfill something and have those moments when it finally sets in, when that light bulb goes on for them and you can watch that happen. It's a great thing. I mean, I can remember, you know, probably six, eight, I don't know, probably eight months a year ago now. I guess it's been that long. But watching Roxanne Perez out there and I could see that match where it just kind of clicked for her and it all came together and from that time on, she's just been on fire. She's been. Watching that happen for her was just a great feeling, you know what I mean? And so we've had that for numerous people. Watching Trick Williams, you know, become this, you know, the sensation in such a short time. Obafemi watching these guys truly get it and. And really become superstars has just been a fantastic thing. So I'm very happy behind the scenes. It's a very long winded answer, I guess, but I'm very satisfied about what I'm doing and very happy helping these people achieve their dreams.
Don La Greca
Do you remember what your moment was, Sean, where you felt like you turned that corner?
Shawn Michaels
Yeah. Well, I'll say this. It's funny. You kind of have a couple of them and, you know, for me, it was like every five years, you know, you would start to go like, okay, now I've got a handle on this now, I think I know what I'm doing. And then another five years and honestly, the time that I. It was in a tag match with the Brain Busters, and it was when I was out there with Marty, but it was really kind of getting comfortable with guys that just knew themselves backwards and forwards, and that's when I knew that's the level I wanted to get to. And then it was later on in my intercontinental run, you know, kind of being out there with Brett, Survivor Series and just really feeling comfortable and having a handle on who I was and who the harp great kid was becoming that at that time as a singles wrestler. So you have a couple, you know, different signposts in your career. And. But I'll say this, you know, it's really not, I think as we watch a lot of these guys now in our business, and I, you know, funny mentioning Aaron Rodgers, you know, earlier. You know, it's funny even in our line of work, when you hit around that 35 to 40 age, that's when everything really becomes. It's settled in and you just know, you know, I mean, you're comfortable in every situation. He walks up to the line and, you know, he can just read everything, you know what I mean? And he knows what everybody's going to do. It's, you know, like, listen to Tony Romo, you know, announce and broadcast. He knows when everything's gonna. Everything that's gonna go on before it happens. And that's the point that you get to in our business, between that 35 and 40. And that's why you see so many guys now kind of maturing and mastering their games. At that age, the athlete is, you know, more mature and everything in the game slows down to a point where they can figure everything out. So, you know, there are different signposts in that respect in your career. And, you know, you never stop learning. As the game keeps changing, you keep learning.
Peter Rosenberg
One thing that I think, I can't imagine how much you get asked this, because people ask it to me all the time and I've obviously never set foot in the ring, which is like, how. How much do these guys and girls, you know, talk about the match beforehand when. When you're like. When you were, like, rolling right, you really were the complete version of yourself. You came back in 2002 and you really had found your way and you were in a better place spiritually, emotionally, all of that stuff. If you were on the road working matches with someone who you knew well and had a relationship with, and you're doing regular non televised events. How much conversation during your prime did you have to have before a match?
Shawn Michaels
Very little. And, and look, I was watching a match with Taker, and I were watching back our WrestleMania match. And again, we were just. That's one of the questions we got asked and we just kind of explained everybody, you know, gosh, he and I, we, you know, we've spent so much time together in that locker room and, and you're always watching each other's matches. And so, you know, we had our little signpost of stuff we wanted to do, but everything else is just Theo and knowing him and, you know, you know, you know, Mark always talks about it when he got out there with guys like me or Hunter, you know, and same with me, with Hunter, all you had to do was kind of focus on being you because you knew that guy was going to be him. And we knew each other all so well that we just, you know, you can almost feel and sense where they're going to be at a certain time. And it's, it just all works magically in those situations. So that's. And that's what I'm saying. It just becomes almost a master ballet, so to speak, to where you just know each other so well, because you've either been in there with each other or you've watched each other for so long. You know each other's habits, you know each other's movements, you know each other's timing. And so it requires very little sort of preparation, so to speak.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, so even in, like, the period where you and Brett were not necessarily on the best of terms and like, you were pretty actively not fans of each other for a little while, did you guys still know each other so well professionally that it was nothing to get in there and work together?
Shawn Michaels
Absolutely, yeah. Again. And that's the thing, I'll say, you know, for what it's worth, I mean, a lot of that stuff clearly, you know, always gets a bit blown out of proportion. But when Brett and I went into the ring together, we were always business and ready to go. He and I were always way more focused on the match than anything else. That always came first. And so he's another person again. We're on the road with each other again. Whether you got along with somebody or not, you're still watching everybody's matches, or at least I know I did. And I know people like Brett and Taker and Hunter and, you know, and most of us did, you know, that anyway. We're just, you know, we're with each other all the time. You know, you're watching the show as it's going on, so you just again, you begin to know each other and, and know each other's moves and movements, you know, and idiosyncrasies to where there isn't anybody that doesn't want to go out there and have a great match with one another. Doesn't matter what you may care about somebody personally, professionally, we all want to go out there, you know, and tear the house down, have a great match.
Peter Rosenberg
So if you and Brett tomorrow, if you and Brett tomorrow were given some sort of magic hgh and your bodies were ready to go, would you have to talk or could you. Would you and Brett still remember what you need to do to have a great match tomorrow?
Shawn Michaels
Yeah. Oh, yeah, I think so. I mean, again, I mean, we may want, you know, if since it was he and I and people would want certain, I don't know, moments and big things, we might have to talk about that, you know, like, I don't know what kind of, what would be the focus of our story if we do something like that? We might talk about that. But yeah, gosh, no, I mean, I know, you know, I think Brett and I know each other stuff backwards and forwards and we'd be there for each other, no problem at all. And heck yeah, I mean, I don't, I wouldn't second guess that for one, one minute.
Peter Rosenberg
Sean, thank you for making time to come make this announcement. Thank you in advance for the tutelage that I'm, I know I'm going to receive from you and, and thank you of course, to WWE for, for this opportunity. I'm so psyched to be the voice of Evolve. It starts this coming Wednesday, 8:00 on Tubi. It's going to be a great, great show with incredible talent. Sean, thank you for this. Thanks for making time. I appreciate you, man.
Shawn Michaels
Thank you. Thank you very much, Peter. And thank you guys for doing this.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, man, we'll see you down the road. There he is, the great Shawn Michaels hbk.
Don La Greca
And congratulations, buddy. I know this is something that you've longed to do for ever. So awesome stuff. Congratulations.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, listen, thank you, Don. And you know, it's, it's a requisite if you're, if you're on this time slot. I have to do some play by play. It had to happen at some point. You know, Allen, of course, gets it in doing a coverage of the Knicks on radio and television. Don, of course, doing Rangers literally tonight. And there was a guy in this time slot up until very recently named Michael K who does a bit of play by play as well. So every kid I think sits there. If you're a fan of something and you love broadcasting, you kind of dream of getting to be the voice of a show. So super excited for this show. It's really cool. I think you guys are going to dig it.
Don La Greca

The great Passing Me by by the Far side. Why. Why on February 28th are we playing this song? Jacob?
Don La Greca
Today is no rhyme or real day. I'm just doing it.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, you're okay. Oh, today is overall a no rhyme or reason. Okay.
Don La Greca
Yeah. You know, things might have showed up in my shuffle. I played it or, you know, I'm just feeling like this, you know, so I'm just playing it.
Peter Rosenberg
This is. I know. Listen, Natalie makes fun of me because I love to say this is one of the greatest songs of all time about things. Although in this case she wouldn't make fun of me because I think she'd agree. Passing Me by by the Far side is one of the greatest rappers records ever made. It's one of the greatest records ever made. As a 13 year old when it came out, who had never like been on a date with a girl or like had only had crushes done, it literally hit me in a way that was so like unimaginable. Unimaginably on the nose. It's. It's the best, the absolute. Have you done. Have you ever. Do you know the song?
Don La Greca
I do not.
Peter Rosenberg
I. I'm gonna send it to you. I'd like. You. You know what, Don? I think you'd like the entire. I know you don't have like the biggest lexicon of hip hop albums. I think you would thoroughly enjoy the Far Sides Bizarre Ride to the Far side album.
Don La Greca
Okay.
Peter Rosenberg
I think it would. They were a weird mix of super hip hop, but la skater kid, weed head kind of. I think you dig it. I think you would dig the Far side. I'm going to.
Don La Greca
I'm going to get it for you.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm. I'm gonna. What's your. What's your way of listening to music? What's your streaming service?
Don La Greca
Spotify? I do not have a streaming service.
Peter Rosenberg
You only listen to Sirius. You just turn on radio and that's it.
Don La Greca
Yeah. Or, or I'll put something on my. My phone, you know.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, how do you put it on your phone?
Don La Greca
YouTube or something. Grab a video off of YouTube or something.
Peter Rosenberg
And you don't. You don't have a. Do you have a CD player. You don't have a CD player in your car. That's different.
Don La Greca
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. What do I have on my iPad, which, like when I'm traveling, I have just the iPad. Just download the music and listen.
Peter Rosenberg
You will download an album though. From what? From the itunes store?
Don La Greca
Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay. Anthony, are you surprised?
Don La Greca
I think you'll be more surprised that I'm same as Don. I listen.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, I'm not surprised. Because you're a music casual.
Shawn Michaels
I have serious.
Don La Greca
That's my extent of.
Peter Rosenberg
But you're only surprising because you're young. Young, you know, the youngest of all of us. So that.
Don La Greca
But Don, being the lover of music, he is. Am I surprised? I think if Don knew the options he had on Spotify, Pandora and the like, he would like it.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, Don, you don't. I gotta tell you, this is. This may be evolving, if you will, into a big deal like you having streaming services. Don, do you realize that you have access when you have a streaming service to literally every song you've ever thought about in your entire life?
Don La Greca
Well, I mean, when I'm home, I'll say, alexa, play this song and plays it.
Peter Rosenberg
So you do have.
Don La Greca
I'm good. Some good home that way. Yes. Okay. I mean, I have something. I love music. I just. It's all over the place. If I'm home, I'll say, alexa, if I'm on the road, I've got my iPad. I've downloaded like tons of albums and stuff that I can listen to. I'm in a car. It's usually serious.
Peter Rosenberg
Let's talk to the people, shall we?
Don La Greca
Please.
Peter Rosenberg
1-800-919-3776. Got a couple lines open. Let's start with Miley in Lake Grove. Mele. Sorry, Mile. How you doing?
Shawn Michaels
I'm good.
Peter Rosenberg
How are you? I love the show.
Don La Greca
I love your synergy and also I.
Peter Rosenberg
Could not agree more about passe by such an amazing song.
Don La Greca
So I want to talk about Aaron Rodgers real quick. I absolutely get one of giants want.
Shawn Michaels
To get him or if they do want to get him, it's losing begets more losing.
Don La Greca
And my fear right now is that.
Peter Rosenberg
We have talented players in the team.
Don La Greca
We have Tracy, we have neighbors, we have Andrew Thomas.
Shawn Michaels
They're only going to develop bad habits if they don't have a quarterback back there who knows what they're doing. And you're just going to end up wasting a talent because of the bad habits you start developing by losing games. Thank you.
Don La Greca
That's how I feel. I just Think you got to start developing by winning, functioning, getting plays right. You just can't run into a brick wall every time you play. And I think Aaron Rodgers, state of his career is championships are done. But we saw in the second half, things started working and you look at his stats, there was ability there. I just didn't think there was any coaching there. I think the jets had a legit coach, Peter. I think. I don't think they're winning a championship, but I think they could have won nine, 10 games.
Peter Rosenberg
I think you're probably right. No, I mean, that's fair. I mean, it's, it's. It was weird though, wasn't it? Like, the jets season just didn't play out in any way like I thought it would. Like, defensively, they weren't who they were supposed to be. Rodgers took so long to get. None of it was right. It kind of felt like everything was different than we expected. So. But I. But I think on paper, you're 100, right? Let's go to C.J. who wants to talk some giants. What's up, C.J.
Don La Greca
Hey, guys. How's it going? Yeah, just kind of chiming in on the Aaron Rodgers thing. I don't know, I just. It doesn't sound like a good fit for the Giants just from off the field and on the field standpoint, you know, with him doing the show on the side with McAfee, did the Giants really want that headache? We came, we count like the jets had. You know, we got an up close and personal view of how that's gone for the jets the past two years. And, you know, they had a better roster than us when it comes to.
Shawn Michaels
Just overall talent, hypothetically, their O line.
Don La Greca
Is better than ours, even though they always had injuries. So I just. Tell me, Peter, tell me, where do you see him making a difference for the Giants from just a playing standpoint that moves the needle more than a couple of extra wins this year?
Peter Rosenberg
That's a fair question. CJ can he move it more than an extra couple of wins this year? I mean, I guess that. Don, depends on what decisions they make about what they want to do. If they know they're going with Rodgers, you know, if they. If they decided we're going with a veteran quarterback and we're going to try to put together the best team we can right now. I do think you saw a couple of things last year to build on offensively. Go ahead, Don.
Don La Greca
Well, I just need to know, what's the alternative? Like, if you don't want Aaron Rodgers, what Do you want. Okay, you want to draft Sanders? Okay, I. I could be on board with that if they like Sanders, but what if they don't and Ward's gone? What do you do? Who's gonna. Somebody's got to play quarterback. Guys, they. DeVito is the only quarterback on the roster. They need to find a quarterback. All right, you want to. You want to trade for Justin Fields? Do you want to. We talked about Kirk Cousins, Derek Carr. So when you look at Aaron Rodgers, it doesn't look that bad. Looking at the choices that they have. If you're going with a veteran, somebody's got to play quarterback. Even if you draft Sanders, somebody's going to have to play quarterback. Why not Aaron Rodgers? And again, I could be all wet on this, but I really don't think he's going to be a problem. How could he possibly be a problem? Nobody's. When he came to the jets, he's like. He ran the show. They basically handed the organization to him. That's not going to be here. He's going to come here as a mentor to the young quarterback, and he's going to understand that. And if he doesn't want to do that, he won't come here. Is he going to really come here and then go and cause trouble? And the second that he were to cause trouble, Peter, the Giants wouldn't be committed to him beyond next year. Wasn't like the jets, where they gave up all this capital to make the trade for him and then committed and had him sign you went out and signed free agents that he loved. You were kind of committed to making him the de facto general manager. So when he kind of went off the rails, you didn't have a lot of control because you needed him so desperately. He's going to come here. What? I don't even know how much money he's making. You'd have to give up anything to get him.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, that's the thing.
Don La Greca
I don't.
Peter Rosenberg
You're talking about.
Don La Greca
I don't.
Peter Rosenberg
I. You're spending no money, Don. You're potentially spending very little money and you have very little commitment. I personally like the idea if you're not in love with another quarterback, and to the point you made earlier, to me, it seems pretty clear they're not in love with one of the rookie quarterbacks.
Don La Greca
So, listen, I don't. I can't confirm that he won't be trouble, but I just don't know if the setup would be the same as it was for the Jets. I mean, how could he, Peter? What, what equity we have in the bank with the Giants to do that. And we had a caller, the Giants won't stand for that. No, they won't. That's not the kind of organization they are. All this would be worked out before he came here. And the second I think he'd be any trouble, he'd be an easy guy to let go.
Peter Rosenberg
That's the thing.
Don La Greca
And then where does Rogers go?
Peter Rosenberg
A year makes. A year makes such a difference, guys, the position this guy would be in. Now, listen, I'm sure he would get on McAfee and go, well, you know. You know, Pat, I got to say, if you look at my stats from last year, you know, I really did come along there at the end of the year and we were happy with the direction we were going. I was talking to my friend Bobby, Bobby Kennedy about a lot of things, including a rare poisonous spider that he found outside his home. And while I made a lot of strides there, I think I can really still play this position. But deep down, the fact of the matter is, even if he tried to pawn off last season as some great improvement, deep down we know what last season was. And deep down he knows what last season was. And deep down he knows that he'd have to go into the season in a new. With a completely new approach. And I think he would. I don't think he's stupid because what.
Don La Greca
Options does he have? All right. The fact that he's even interested in the Giants are coming off a three win season tells you he doesn't have a ton of options. San Francisco's committed to Purdy. Looks like the Raiders are going to go in a different direction. They're going to probably draft a quarterback. Although he may end up with the Raiders. Who knows? I don't. It doesn't look that way. The Rams are going to keep Stafford. I don't know. The fact that the Giants are an option for him tells you he doesn't have a lot of options. So if he wants to be a jerk, if he wants to be that guy, I don't know how that helps him at all because he can't possibly walk into the Giants facility thinking he's going to contribute to a championship. He's going to walk into the Giants facility just because he loves football and wants to play another year, hoping he might be able to find some magic. It's. I just think the circumstances are way different than it was a couple of years ago with the jets. Basically are begging to be walked over like a doormat.
Peter Rosenberg
Tib Disagrees. Hey, Tip, Tip.
Shawn Michaels
Oh, sorry. I thought you said chip.
Peter Rosenberg
Go ahead. What do you got?
Shawn Michaels
I can't believe how much I'm disagreeing with Don that week.
Don La Greca
I normally agree with them so often, but.
Peter Rosenberg
And I also think this says a lot about how great you've had co worker. What great co workers.
Shawn Michaels
You've had Don because you have obviously not had, like, a complete egomaniac for a co worker. Like, he's trying to be jerk.
Don La Greca
He just. He.
Shawn Michaels
I know.
Peter Rosenberg
I. I'm not going to say anything.
Shawn Michaels
About Michael because, you know, whatever.
Peter Rosenberg
You know, that's the closest it came. Okay. Imagine that person around you all the time.
Don La Greca
I mean, you could see what he.
Peter Rosenberg
Did to the jets just by, like.
Don La Greca
He would sit on the bench and.
Shawn Michaels
Nobody would go sit anywhere near him.
Peter Rosenberg
Like, the people who are good quarterbacks and, like, bring that culture of winning.
Shawn Michaels
And I totally agree with you on all that part.
Don La Greca
I like the Josh Allens who, like.
Shawn Michaels
Everybody loves them and they love to play and they can.
Don La Greca
They enjoy playing, they enjoy winning.
Shawn Michaels
But Aaron Rodgers is just all about.
Don La Greca
Aaron Rodgers and he dumps on everybody.
Shawn Michaels
So there is a winning.
Don La Greca
Can I.
Peter Rosenberg
Can I say something to surprise. I'm gonna surprisingly say something here to defend Rogers. Have we heard. Have we heard anything from his current teammates and even the ones who left, who he sort of belittled, have any come out and said they had a problem with him? I don't think anyone.
Shawn Michaels
You guys would be more on the pulse of that.
Peter Rosenberg
I guess I was being rhetorical and.
Don La Greca
Thank you for the call.
Peter Rosenberg
I know. Sorry I was uncomfortable. But, Don, did anyone come out and ever say he's a bad teammate?
Don La Greca
We.
Peter Rosenberg
We have all said. The media has said he's annoying, he drives us crazy. But, like, I don't think his teammates have any issues with them, which is, frankly, more important than what Yo Yo's like us think.
Don La Greca
Yeah, I didn't hear anybody in the jets organization, you know, players rip into him. I don't think he's the issue. I think you nailed it, Peter. I think he's more annoying to the fans in the media than I think he is to his fellow teammates. I think a lot of them really liked him, respected him. I think a lot of the Giants would probably welcome him in. Listen, we spent a lot of time talking about what a nozzle he can be, and he certainly can be, but I just think it's. The circumstances are way different than they were with the jets, where the jets handed him everything. Please win for us. He was in complete and total control to do whatever he wants. Would that be remotely the case with the Giants?
Peter Rosenberg
I don't think so.
Don La Greca
He's begging for a job to stay in the NFL. And because you've committed nothing to him, Peter, the second he got out of line, just cut him. Still getting around to that fix on your car? You got this on ebay, you'll find millions of parts guaranteed to fit.
Peter Rosenberg
Doesn't matter if it's a major engine.
Don La Greca

Find all the parts you need at prices you'll love. Guaranteed to fit every time. But you already know that ebay Things People love Eligible Items Only Exclusion Supply.

Get the Angel Reese Special at McDonald's. Now let's break it down.
Don La Greca
My favorite barbecue sauce, American cheese, crispy.
Peter Rosenberg
Bacon, pickles, onions, and a sesame seed bunch, of course.
Don La Greca
And don't forget the fries and the drinks.
Peter Rosenberg
Sound good.
Don La Greca
I participate in restaurants for a limited time. Some people just know they could save hundreds on car insurance by checking Allstate First. Like you know to check the Jumbotron first before attempting to eat a stack of Supreme Nachos in one bite. Now you're just a meme that everyone shares on game day. Checking first is smart, so check Allstate first for a quote that could save you hundreds. You're in good hands with Allstate. Savings vary, subject to terms, conditions and availability. Allstate Fire and Casualty Insurance Company and affiliates, Northbrook, IL thanks for listening to the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast.
Peter Rosenberg
I didn't listen to anything you just said.
Don La Greca
Catch the show on demand whenever you want.
Peter Rosenberg
Just subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts. Well, it's not the song in question, I'm sure, but it's a big one. It is Don Hahn and Rosenberg. And if you're wondering, it's random music today from Jacob. He told us. But that one, of course, could be inspired by the conversation about Frank Sinatra, which is Bob Clappish writing an article earlier stating that the final straw, the major impetus to end the whole New York, New York after losses thing came from the Yankees being disgusted at basically the Dodgers having a karaoke session on their field after Game 5. And they said, hey, enough is enough. And if you missed the beginning of the show, you should definitely subscribe to the podcast. But Allen, you went off on your disgust on this topic and how nauseous it made you to see the Yankees be so reactive and we have Courtland in Queens who disagrees with Allen Cortland. You've been waiting for Alan. He's here now.
Shawn Michaels
Yeah. Guys, what's up? So Don, Peter and Alan, you know you had the Shawn Michael segment.
Don La Greca
I thought I was, you know, you.
Shawn Michaels
I thought he was ducking smoke trying to come to the mat. Look, man, I agree with some of.
Don La Greca
The things you're saying, but the whole sentiment that, you know, the Yankees are.
Shawn Michaels
Soft for adapting, I think it's been a very tone deaf organization the last couple of years. I mean, we've seen so many heartbreaking losses. It's almost like the same sentiment that you get from fans saying how Steinbrand doesn't spend enough money. I mean, the guy cares about a team, he spends enough money. And I don't think that he does not want the team to win. But when it comes to certain standards, you can look at the Yankees and see like where you years behind the curve. And I don't think it has anything to do with necessary losing, but I think it's a good. Oh no.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, you tried, you tried Cortland, but then your point and your phone call fizzled.
Don La Greca
I, I, I'm not quite sure what he was trying to say because it sounded like he did agree with me.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I, I felt the same way.
Don La Greca
Sound like he didn't agree with, with me. He was saying all the things that I was saying that they aren't the same franchise they used to be. Whatever boldness they once had is gone. And I would rather hear what Aaron Judge thinks of all this stuff because he seems to get it more than those who are making these decisions now. Well, his point, that's all I'm trying to say. His point was it's time to change.
Peter Rosenberg
And I think you're saying, okay, but not tradition change.
Don La Greca
Yeah, change other things. I really, really hope that Yankee fans that are all for all this quote unquote change thing are not using it as this like kind of generational thing like you old guys need to step aside because that's not what this is about. This is about like, I get it, guys. I know every time everything deserves change. We need to evolve as society. I get it all. But don't, don't turn it into, we also then need to just completely eschew all standards and all things that create an identity of what you are. Because the Yankees are a standard, they are a brand. And there are things that you want to hold up and say we have to be an example of how it's done. The right way instead of caving and cowering anytime something goes wrong, you got to stick to your guns. We believe in who we are and what we do. Hey, stop the whining. That's what I'm asking. Stop the whining. Stop complaining about injuries. Stop the complaining about the Dodgers spend all the money. Stop complaining about how they danced on your grave after the World Series was over. No, that's not what the Yankees are supposed to be about. Shouldn't be. The Dodgers have become the evil empire. And it's almost like the Yankees have kind of just joined in line with everybody else. They used to complain about them 20 years ago. Really? All right, there's a new evil empire in town. And instead of challenging it, you're like, okay, finally somebody else. Is that now we can be like everybody else. Well, remember when they once wore that title proudly? Remember when that was the Red Sox called them that the evil empire. And what the Yankees do, What did they do? They leaned into it. That's right.
Shawn Michaels
Hate us.
Don La Greca
Cuz you ain't usually supposed to be.
Peter Rosenberg
Is there, is there anything worse than being like the heel, like the badass heel who, who like whines and cries. You got to make up your mind, like either you're the heel who doesn't care you just beat people up or you're the whining and crying type. You can't be both. That's not appealing. So like right now it just feels like they're this in between version of everything is sort of like. But, but guys, isn't it, isn't it the same with everything? Isn't the only way to solve this just winning?
Don La Greca
Of course. And that's, I think, what Aaron Judge would say. How do you shut him up? Well, look, Jaylen Brunson reminded me of that when Trey Young did the rolling the dice thing on center court and everybody wanted somebody on the Knicks to throw an elbow or punch him in the face. And Brunson's response was, how do you get him to stop doing that? You beat him. That's how you do it. You just beat him. Right? You say nothing, you don't complain about it, you don't whine about it. There's nothing you can do. Beat him. And that's the right response, Right? But unfortunately, unlike those championship teams when they won four in five years, they don't have the ability to do it at the same clip anymore. That's what needs to worry you, because the instinct used to be, all right, we'll just outspend you. We'll out. We'll outwin you. We will beat you. Well, when you don't win a championship for 15 years and you've got one championship in 25, Allen, can you really honestly act like that anymore? Like, that's. That's what's got to worry me. Whoa, Whoa, whoa, Don. B.C. that's. I know we here in New York rate them for championships, and if you don't win a championship, it is considered a failure. That's. I understand that because that's the standard they have set. But it's not like they have been the little sisters of the poor. They still know. I understand they win. But here's the thing, Allen. When a team beats you like that in the World Series, the response would be, well, we'll see you next year. But in this stupid analytic world that they live in, where the postseason's a crapshoot and you never know what's gonna happen, it's almost as if to say, well, since we can't guarantee we're gonna get there, let's just complain about it. All right, well, that's what it comes across to me. I 100% agree with you. Thanks for listening to the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast. The episode, aptly titled "Peter is EVOLVing," showcases the dynamic chemistry among the hosts and features a compelling guest appearance by WWE legend Shawn Michaels.
The episode kicks off with a light-hearted discussion about the capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Don La Greca humorously highlights the phone's AI features:
Don La Greca (00:00): "I can say to my new Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, hey, find a keto-friendly restaurant nearby and text it to Beth and Steve. And it does without me lifting a finger so I can get in more squats anywhere I can. 1, 2, 3. Will that be cash or credit?"
Peter Rosenberg chimes in, emphasizing the phone’s compatibility with select apps:
Peter Rosenberg (00:22): "So you can do. You get yours@samsung.com compatible with select apps."
Don continues to playfully promote the AI companion:
Don La Greca (00:26): "Requires Google Gemini account. Results may vary based on input. Check responses for accuracy. This is the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast. That sounds like heaven to me."
The hosts transition into sports discussions, starting with the NHL matchup between the New York Rangers and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Don La Greca (01:01): "The Rangers are playing the Leafs tonight."
A spirited debate ensues about the teams' performances and player dynamics, highlighting the rivalry and anticipation for the game.
The conversation intensifies as the hosts delve into the NFL's quarterback landscape, specifically focusing on Aaron Rodgers and the New York Giants.
Don expresses skepticism about Rodgers joining the Giants:
Don La Greca (03:24): "I just don't think there's any coaching there. I think the Jets had a legit coach, Peter."
Peter agrees, questioning Rodgers' fit within the Giants' organization:
Peter Rosenberg (05:33): "I totally agree with you. I don't think there's a world in which Rodgers can continue to be that guy."
They discuss the Giants' options, weighing the decision between drafting new talent versus acquiring veterans like Rodgers. Don advocates for Rodgers as a viable option:
Don La Greca (03:46): "If you're going with a veteran, somebody's got to play quarterback. Even if you draft Sanders, somebody's going to have to play quarterback. Why not Aaron Rodgers?"
Peter counters with doubts based on Rodgers' past performance and organizational fit:
Peter Rosenberg (31:04): "I think you're probably right. It's fair."
A standout moment in the episode is the appearance of WWE legend Shawn Michaels. Peter introduces him with enthusiasm:
Peter Rosenberg (05:03): "We got a special 6 o'clock ENN. In a few minutes we're gonna have the Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels, the WWE legend."
Shawn Michaels shares exciting news about Peter Rosenberg's new role:

Peter expresses his excitement and gratitude:
Peter Rosenberg (09:03): "WWE Evolve starts Wednesday at 8:00 on Tubi. You're going to be blown away by the level of some of the talent."
Shawn Michaels delves into his transition from wrestling to mentorship:
Shawn Michaels (14:57): "It's a transfer of that emotion... it's more you being just a part of watching someone else get to fulfill something and have those moments when it finally sets in, when that light bulb goes on for them."
He emphasizes the importance of athleticism and charisma in developing young WWE talent:
Shawn Michaels (11:42): "One is the athletic ability... do they have a presence, a charisma about them?"
Peter praises the upcoming show and articulates his vision for it:
Peter Rosenberg (09:45): "I'm super excited about this show. It's really cool. I think you guys are going to dig it."
The hosts engage in a playful debate about their musical tastes, focusing on the track "Passing Me By" by The Far Side. Peter passionately defends the song as one of his favorites:
Peter Rosenberg (27:28): "Peter Rosenberg... Passing Me By by the Far Side is one of the greatest rappers records ever made. It's one of the greatest records ever made."
Don admits unfamiliarity but shows openness to exploring new music:
Don La Greca (28:18): "I do not."
The conversation highlights the diverse interests of the hosts and adds a personal touch to the episode.
Multiple callers weigh in on the potential of Aaron Rodgers joining the Giants. Don remains optimistic about Rodgers' ability to contribute without causing organizational issues:
Don La Greca (35:12): "He's going to understand that. If he doesn't want to do that, he won't come here."
Peter remains cautious, questioning the long-term impact based on previous experiences:
Peter Rosenberg (35:12): "I think he's going to have to go into the season with a completely new approach."
Don counters by highlighting Rodgers' limited options and potential as a mentor:
Don La Greca (37:53): "He'd come here as a mentor to the young quarterback, and he's going to understand that."
The discussion shifts to the New York Yankees, with Don expressing frustration over the team's recent performance and management decisions:
Don La Greca (44:47): "The Yankees have kind of just joined in line with everybody else. They used to complain about them 20 years ago."
Peter and Shawn Michaels add their perspectives, emphasizing the need for winning as the ultimate solution:
Don La Greca (46:23): "There's nothing you can do. Beat him. That's the right response."
The episode wraps up with final thoughts on the Giants' quarterback situation and the Yankees' organizational challenges. Don underscores the importance of winning to silence critics and drive success:
Don La Greca (46:23): "Stop the whining. Stop complaining about injuries. Stop complaining about the Dodgers spend all the money."
Peter Rosenberg reiterates the critical role of winning in shaping team dynamics and fan perceptions.
