All right, it's the 4 o' clock hour. We go. Don Han Rosenberg, Ty Butler sitting in with us today.
Jacob
What's up, Donnie? What's up with.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no. He had to take his mom to the doctors today.
Jacob
I hope all goes well. But my question isn't about that.
Peter Rosenberg
What's that?
Jacob
Yeah, so I heard the great news about my man Don. Shot him a text.
Peter Rosenberg
Devil's done.
Jacob
Devil's done. Shot him a text.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, don't. Don't. Don't do it. Don't be the guy that said he didn't say thank.
Jacob
Guess what he said back to me.
Peter Rosenberg
Thanks.
Jacob
I'm still waiting for that response. Never said anything.
Peter Rosenberg
Thanks. Is it red? Did he leave you on red?
Jacob
Does he have his read receipts on?
Peter Rosenberg
I don't know.
Jacob
I don't know.
Peter Rosenberg
He's got an Android. But it was like, by the way, he's a green bubble.
Jacob
He does have his read receipts on. It doesn't. It just says delivered. But it was multiple text messages.
Peter Rosenberg
Multiple?
Jacob
Multiple.
Peter Rosenberg
What, are you spamming the poor guy.
Jacob
I was excited for him.
Peter Rosenberg
Do the math.
Jacob
I was excited for my guy.
Peter Rosenberg
Sometimes you have to just. Sorry, bro. Yeah, no, but we had just a hint.
Jacob
We had just spoken two weeks ago because he was congratulating me.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Jacob
On, you know, getting asked and why stuff. So I thought, all right, this is the type of relationship we have. I can now congratulate you on something huge. And crickets.
Peter Rosenberg
Nobody coaches me up. So who was it that called because they were mad? Well, Pat o' Keefe said you didn't reply.
Jacob
I'm not mad, Pat.
Peter Rosenberg
But Pat never said anything until someone else did. Who was the Jordan. Something else?
Jacob
Oh, he called Jordan.
Peter Rosenberg
Jordan, John. Oh, yeah, Jordan Renan. He texted back, thanks, John or something like that.
Jacob
What was his explanation?
Peter Rosenberg
Jordan was so offended. And you should be like, well, you would love it if Don responded to.
Jacob
You and said, thanks, Tyrone. Thanks, Tyrone. Or, yeah, I take that Wrong name.
Peter Rosenberg
Sure. I take it you know, you understand these days. Now, you probably had it that day when the SNY stuff happened where your phone just. You're getting a lot of texts from people. Three weeks, everybody okay.
Jacob
The next day, sure. Four weeks.
Peter Rosenberg
But you know what happens? Your phone opens, you get a notification, and now it's already. It looks like it's red, but I didn't see it.
Jacob
My man Don's also a bad texter.
Peter Rosenberg
He's terrible.
Jacob
Now we got all these. Yo, you see this was happening here? Jacob. Everybody catching pleas for Don July 6th.
Peter Rosenberg
Why would you turn to Jacob?
Jacob
Cause he's the only guy in the room not copping pleas for Don. That was three weeks ago. He should be all caught up now.
Anthony Pusick
Jacob, in Don's defense.
Peter Rosenberg
There you go.
Jacob
Here we go.
Anthony Pusick
Come on, Don't. We can text Don something about the Rangers or Devils. He won't care.
Jacob
He won't to use a Don Lagreca line. He's not going to do anything for you guys. You realize that, right? He's not advancing your career. You can be honest.
Peter Rosenberg
No, the reason why I'm saying this is because I've experienced this. The anxiety of the reply when something happens, good or bad. I had a terrible tragedy in my family and my phone blew up with a lot of well meaning people. I couldn't possibly respond to everybody.
Jacob
It's just not possible Three weeks later.
Peter Rosenberg
Three weeks. You know, things happen in life where you forget to go back and look. You know, like he's. If he saw you in person, I bet you he would have said, hey, thank you for that text.
Jacob
Which means he remembers that I text him.
Peter Rosenberg
Probably.
Jacob
I'm not upset.
Peter Rosenberg
He'd see you when it would hit him, like, oh, I don't think I respond.
Jacob
I don't think he hears me.
Peter Rosenberg
First of all, I guarantee you he's listening because he's probably in the car with his mom right now. Hey, don't tell you that. He right now feels terrible. So I hope you feel good about yourself.
Jacob
All right, Jacob, come on.
Peter Rosenberg
Like, this is. This is how you get invited back to the.
Jacob
Don't.
Peter Rosenberg
This is what you do.
Jacob
Texting me back.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes, he does. Come on.
Anthony Pusick
I honestly do Don things. He feels terrible also. I'm realizing every show I work with Ty, he's a bad guy.
Peter Rosenberg
He is a bad guy. He loves starting Truck. He loves starting Trump.
Jacob
Am I a bad guy? I'm just being honest that I thought Don and I were tight. Well, thought we were cool. Thought that was my guy.
Peter Rosenberg
Don knows he can call into the show if he has a response for you. So we have a couple hours left to see if real talk.
Jacob
I hope everything's going on with mom.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh yeah, yeah, of course we do. In the meantime, we have calls to get to before we get to we'll go camping a little bit here. Jets and Giants, there's a lot going on there. Barton Carlin were at jets camp today. So there's plenty there that we could we heard from Aaron Glenn and others. So good stuff there. But right now just quickly, Todd, because you and our basketball guys are NBA Today show they have the new look. Luca Donson, she was at Yankee Stadium last night in the booth in the yes booth taking pictures with Aaron Judge signing sneakers and the whole, the whole lot. He's in New York City all week and wouldn't come on the show today. By the way, I tried on radio you can't see how skinny he is. But do you feel like, like and they showed a side by side that they aren't showing now. But it becomes Luca 2.0 and you know, end of the week he can sign this massive contract extension which you know he's going to do. So he clearly on the COVID of Men's Health magazine. At least the way it shows. He clearly has put in the right kind of effort to get his body to where everybody seems to want it. You know, he's lean, he's on this. He must be going whatever the food diet is plus a workout regimen. And they I was doing the side by side of him in a Laker uniform where he's got the pudgy face, the whole thing. And now he looks thin. And I feel and I said this on Twitter. I was like, it's amazing how the national media body shamed him into locking in off season.
Jacob
Wait, time out. The national media.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh yeah. It's all everybody talked to him or.
Jacob
His former employer and his coach, his current coach.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no national media has spent enough time on this with him because it.
Jacob
Was and then everybody else finally acknowledged of the dumbest trade in NBA history that was put together by his general manager. So it wasn't the national media doing that. It was Nico Harrison and company that explained how do you trade Luka Doncic? Well, he was fat and he drank.
Peter Rosenberg
They didn't say he was fat. They never publicly talked about anything other than guys. All they said was guys locked in.
Jacob
How his body would ache, how much.
Peter Rosenberg
Everybody was talking about all of the.
Jacob
Reporting around the trade was about that.
Peter Rosenberg
Right. But nobody said it publicly until JJ.
Jacob
Redick did they body. His former employer. Body shamed him. But go ahead.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay, so fine.
Jacob
What's your question?
Peter Rosenberg
It's not a question. It's just an amazing observation that that's what it took. Publicly embarrassed. And now. You know what I'm worried about?
Jacob
What's that?
Peter Rosenberg
He's gonna get hurt. I'm telling you right now, he's too small. Yep. He's used to playing like that. Now all of a sudden you're gonna make him play in a different, like in a different body.
Jacob
Well, if you go back a year, he was more athletic. He was like dun.
Peter Rosenberg
It's going to change his game. You watch. I don't know.
Jacob
I don't know that I feel that.
Peter Rosenberg
Way about that now. He put up prolific numbers while he was pudgy.
Jacob
Yeah. Got his team to the finals.
Peter Rosenberg
What's he. What's he going to do now? Is he going to. Would you take your MVP odds on him for this coming season?
Jacob
He's third in MVP eyes or fourth right now behind Yoke. It's sga.
Peter Rosenberg
Would you put. Would you put your hard earned money on?
Jacob
No, but not because I don't think. No, but not for the reason that you're saying. Not because he's too small.
Peter Rosenberg
I just think fifth place team's not going to win mvp.
Jacob
No, I just think. There you go. Now that the Knicks all of a sudden have a pat to the fighters. You can make jokes. I just think Jokic is going to win it this year.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, Jokic is the example, is it not? Jokic was the dad bodies and he put that off season in where all of a sudden he got his body right and they won a championship.
Jacob
Yeah. So. So Luke is doing the same thing.
Peter Rosenberg
So Luke is doing it. And now wait, so here we are.
Jacob
Making fun of the dude for being too fat. He gets in shape and now we're making fun of him for being too in shape or are nervous about him being too in shape.
Peter Rosenberg
I am officially on the record locally and nationally and I actually chastised everybody on national, on espn, on, on national television because we were doing a topic on it and I said, can we stop. Can we stop body shaming this guy? Can we stop trying to make him into a fitness model? All he has to do is just lock in and get better. Like, like be more mature about your habits. That's all we want. Like, we don't need to see every, every workout video now. We've got to have a summer update on his body. We don't need that. I don't want him be a fitness model. I just want him to be more mature about his habits.
Jacob
Take it serious. That's it.
Peter Rosenberg
So this now feels extreme, and that's what I'm worried about because it took that. It was almost as if somebody got to him and said, you're going to blow everybody away. And I'm now worried that's not the body he's used to playing.
Jacob
I don't think you should be worried. I think he'll be just fine.
Peter Rosenberg
We'll see. But it's an interesting story.
Jacob
He'll be just fine.
Peter Rosenberg
Meanwhile, more calls. 800 now. 1937-A- Lot of People want to talk Yankees with you, so let's, let's, let's do that. Let's go to John and Chatham. Hey, John.
Caller
Hey, guys. I want to talk about Derek Jeter's introduction of cece and the hall of Fame.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes. We played this yesterday.
Caller
Yeah. Where Jeter, you know, said, you have to do it in October, the playoffs, in the clutch. And it was like a backhand swipe to Aaron Judge. Does Jeter realize that Judge is completely alone? Where's Judges? Barney Williams, who. Who was at the time winning playoff games by himself against Texas for years.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, John, let me.
Caller
Where's Aaron Judges? Tino Martinez and Derek.
Peter Rosenberg
Let me cut you because this is what I think. I don't think Jeter was thrown shade a judge. I think he was throwing shade at Cashman. I think this, this was about.
Caller
It's all cash.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, but here's what, here's why. Because. And Dom was explaining it yesterday and I said that's why. I think what Jeter said is a shot more at the franchise and its attitude of, hey, we win every year. We haven't had a losing record all these years. Our bottom line says every year we're a good team. And Jeter saying that's not the Yankee standard. The Yankee standard isn't winning seasons, it's winning in October. And so the mentality he feels I am, and I'm reading it this way, the mentality changed. When he says what you do in October, he means winning. I don't think he was saying because I don't believe that Derek Jeter would want to do, would publicly take a shot at Aaron Judge, who I'm sure Jeter has a high amount of respect for as a player. This is more about the organization changing its mentality to saying, hey, we're in the black every year. That's a success now versus no, it Used to be winning a championship was success.
Caller
I agree completely with Jada because In the past 25 years the Yankees won two ranks, two championships, 2000 and 2009, right? And of Cash. And if Cashman had his way those, those two years, you wouldn't have no championship because Alex Rodriguez in 2009 got you to the World Series.
And it.
And if Cashman had his way, he wanted to resign Rodriguez and In the year 2000, David Justice, a mid season acquisition, got them to the World Series. And if, if anyone's old enough to remember at mid season that was reporting in the, in the back pages of the New York papers. George Steinbrenner was demanding Brian Cashman to go get David justice. And he didn't care how much he was making because he was like one of the highest paid and baseball at.
Peter Rosenberg
The time back then you could do that. But you understand, John, like I think for Jeter and that's why, you know, I saw a lot of, a lot of back and forth about Derek Jeter not going Old Timers Day. And I and everybody that's trying to call Jeter out, you're missing the story. The story isn't that Jeter is elitist and a. Jeter's trying to show up in that.
Caller
I think he's saying feelings that Cashman, through his last contract, that Cashman had the nerve. But all of, well, if you don't like it, go, go somewhere else.
Peter Rosenberg
And the fact also that what Cashman has done, directing this franchise has turned this team into something that a lot of the fans don't like watching play.
Caller
It's a business because they, they draw 4 million a year because they, because they make the playoffs almost every year.
Peter Rosenberg
That's right.
Caller
That's all that matters.
Peter Rosenberg
That's their satisfaction.
Caller
But George Steinbrenner didn't care about that.
Jacob
His.
Caller
He wanted rings and he wanted championships and that's what he was about.
Peter Rosenberg
That was the old standard. That's the thing, John. That's the old standard. And I think if you're Derek Jeter, who, who you know, he, he certainly had his affection for George Steinbrenner. I think, I want to believe this. I want to believe that Derek Jeter looks at the Yankees and said that's not my Yankees. And that's why he does feel there does feel a cold connection to that era.
Jacob
I think it has more.
Peter Rosenberg
Do you think I'm crazy?
Jacob
I don't think you're crazy, but because I know it feels more about the contract situation.
Peter Rosenberg
It always was uncomfortable. It was even before the contract. It was the contract. You're right. That definitely was one of those moment of truths. And I'm sure he. That sticks with him. But the fact that I left the organization, that guy's still there. He has a lot of power. And say, I'm not going there with him. Like overseeing it, with him being there. Like, yeah, you have to come back. Like, no. While you, like, Yogi wouldn't come back to the organization for years because of what George said. And they had to broker, like, the two of them getting together. That's never going to happen. With Jeter and Cash, it's never going to happen. But I'm telling you, if there comes a day, ever comes a day that you get your wish. And Hal Steinman finally says, enough's enough. I got to make changes. And he tells Cashmere to take a walk. And they got to bring in new people to run the place. Jeter should be at the very top of the list of president of baseball operations. And then you bring in Derek, your people that you think will bring back the standard. That's what I think.
Jacob
I also. How much do you buy into. Remember he said that he would not play in a game, and now the Yankees are bringing back the Old Timers Day game. And how awkward it would be for him to take part in that ceremony only to be the only person not playing in the game. Does that factor in it to you at all? Maybe I thought about that. Maybe, like, maybe that's not the biggest impediment here. But I did feel. Does Jito want to come back? You think he'd be a part of this? He said he's not playing in any of these games.
Peter Rosenberg
But why should, like, I mean, I know it's kind of.
Jacob
Everyone else is going to play.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I know.
Jacob
And he's gonna be. So they're calling him an elitist now. Could you imagine?
Peter Rosenberg
Ridiculous.
Jacob
Could you imagine they had a ceremony, he's the only person not to play. How elitist that will look for Jeter.
Peter Rosenberg
What if he's just not comfortable playing? What if for him? He's like, you know, I don't want to. Like, I ha. He probably hasn't swung about whatever it is he hasn't done. And the last thing he wants to do is feel like crap. I don't want to. I don't want to do this.
Jacob
Colby was like that, too. Kobe said that, you know, I'm done playing basketball. When I'm done, I'm done.
Peter Rosenberg
Which, I mean, that's it.
Jacob
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
It's over. So I don't understand. But that's interesting, this notion that, you know, the old timers day, back in the day were fun. Like the old guys would play and they would throw it around and have a great, like, I guess it was kind of cool, but it was also weird. There was nothing you saw that made you just.
Jacob
I like. I'm not. No, I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it. Seeing the old guys get out there and hit home runs.
Peter Rosenberg
Hit home runs?
Jacob
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Then you don't remember any of them?
Caller
No.
Jacob
Matsui hit a home run.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Come on.
Jacob
That might have been the last Old timers.
Peter Rosenberg
Probably was.
Jacob
Matsui hit a home run.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Matsui was still like 35 years old.
Jacob
So he's not really.
Peter Rosenberg
What are we doing?
Jacob
Wait, real quick. Yeah, can we not have. Because that caller brought up something very interesting and he's like, well, G. Judge doesn't have a Bernie and all that.
Peter Rosenberg
I know nobody wants to entertain the old, you know, the old thinking calls, but I want to give everybody a chance and I think that, that the older fan base still deserves to have a say when it comes to this.
Jacob
No, I agree. I just don't want us to pretend like Judge being the best player in baseball from months April through September and then becoming a.200 hitter in October is not a big deal. Like, that's, that's a significant, you know, demerit.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, that's, that's the biggest thing.
Jacob
Yeah, but on his resume, of course it is the only. Yeah, but on his.
Peter Rosenberg
What's funny is though, is that the caller did change his tune because at first he thought he was taking shots at the judge and wanted to defend Judge, and then he turns around and it made it like, well, what's, you know, start.
Jacob
Start going that. Start going at Cashman. Yeah, but yeah, for Judge, he does have to atone for that.
Peter Rosenberg
You know, trust me, if no one knows it more than him.
Jacob
Yeah, I understand. But that's, but that's not make this. He doesn't have a Tino. He doesn't have a Bernie. He doesn't have, like, he has not played. It would be different, Allen, if he were scorching hot in October and the team just wasn't good enough.
Peter Rosenberg
Right. He was carrying them and no one else could hit.
Jacob
Been bad.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, he has been. And we're not going to even. We might not even see this October. You know what sucks? What if in this October they have one good series, they play one series, they get knocked out in one series, he happens to hit Pretty well, but they don't win. Is it going to change the narrative? Nope.
Jacob
No, it's not.
Peter Rosenberg
Because they hit him. He can't win right now. Speaking of which, here's Aaron Boone before the game today talking to the media about the plan. So you said they're going to activate him in 10 days. Right. So here's Boone. If the plan is still to get judge off the IL in 10 days.
Aaron Boone
I think that's the expectation. But we'll listen to the body and the trainers and him and see where we're at. But that's the hope.
Peter Rosenberg
That's the hope, Ty. Yeah. That you made a face that nobody can see on radio, but it was not a comfortable expression that you made.
Jacob
Just don't feel comfortable with him going the rest of the season with this injury.
Peter Rosenberg
Me either. Stanton not playing tonight. Is he okay?
Aaron Boone
Yeah, he's good. Just kind of looking at the next stretch of games, you know, four in a row now and night game, day game, the next two that I'll probably have them in both of those. So this was kind of the day for it.
Peter Rosenberg
Get a day off after spending the day yesterday fielding right. Fielding fly balls in right field. We do remember that. That was yesterday.
Jacob
I just think that. I know I'm no baseball savant, but on a night after you scored two runs, wouldn't you like to have your most prolific power hitter in the lineup?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, he hasn't really been, but Yeah, I know what you're saying though.
Jacob
He is a presence, especially with no Judge, so.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, so he needs a day off because we got a bunch of games in a row here. So how many games would you be comfortable playing Stanton in a row?
Jacob
I don't know.
Aaron Boone
I don't know what the most I've played them is so far. Four or five probably at one point. But just trying to be mindful of that and then understand, you know, the weapon he is off the bench. You know, especially when you have a loaded up lefty lineup. You know, having him over there is, you know, an opportunity created advantage too.
Jacob
Off the bench. The weapon. He would be off the bench. That's amazing.
Peter Rosenberg
Foreshadowing, Foreshadowing.
Jacob
I'm trying to think of like what the cross sport analogy would be for that. And there's no perfect one.
Peter Rosenberg
No. No other sport has something like a pinch hitter.
Jacob
It's like. Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Where you just come in, do something and you're done.
Jacob
We're resting towns tonight, but if it's a close fourth quarter, we'll play them.
Peter Rosenberg
Like you can't do that.
Jacob
It just doesn't happen elsewhere. It's amazing.
Peter Rosenberg
We're starting Russell Wilson. You know, it's funny though, the Giants did this in camp. They had a series. They went down the field with James Winston and Winston ran this whole drive. Then he gets to the red zone. He comes out and dark comes in and he called him Tayson Hill. He's oh, I did that. I did that in New Orleans. Can't make this up.
Jacob
Oh, man.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, we've done a lot. We've done 90 minutes on the Yankees. We will go camping. We've got some football. Speaking of which. To talk about to get into with you. We have your calls at 800 now. 193776. Ty, do you also know that this is talk about a Tuesday.
Jacob
I'm very well aware.
Peter Rosenberg
And we got some things we need to talk about.
Jacob
Saw it in the very lengthy text message Anthony Pusick sent this morning.
Peter Rosenberg
He does that 7am on the dot every morning.
Jacob
He is. He's a guy of length.
Anthony Pusick
You actually read it?
Jacob
Of course I read it.
Anthony Pusick
Well, that makes you respect him more than any other host.
Peter Rosenberg
What are you talking about? I read it.
Jacob
Yo, Anthony and I go way back.
Peter Rosenberg
Two out of three hosts always read these texts.
Anthony Pusick
I wonder who's the third?
Peter Rosenberg
Ty, it's truncated now. As you can see.
Jacob
Now we go way back. I don't mean to be that guy, but I trained Anthony.
Peter Rosenberg
I trained both.
Jacob
Yeah, we were.
Peter Rosenberg
You guys are like my sons. So. So that's to talk about. I am Yoda. All right.
Jacob
I'm looking forward to it.
Peter Rosenberg

Catch the show on demand whenever you want, just subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts. Sometimes you just can't take it anymore. This is let's Talk About It Tuesday with Don Hahn and Rosenberg, sponsored by BetterHelp.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, it's time now for let's Talk about it, sponsored by Better Help. Mental health is health. I'm gonna start today. Now, guys, I want everybody to listen up here because two of us are dads. All of us have dads. Mine's no longer with us. And if he was, I would probably have a conversation with him today, just to be sure. Because I saw something today that I said, you know, we need to talk about this. Men need to be open and discuss some things that are not comfortable to talk about, but they need to be said.
Jacob
I like it.
Peter Rosenberg
So I'm going to tell you that if you ever see this or if you ever do this, you need to be real with yourself or that person in your life, whether it's an uncle, whether it's your dad, whether it's a brother. And you have to confront them immediately. And I'm talking about an affliction that men don't like to discuss, that men almost, like, play off that almost. If you bring it up, it's like, your problem. How dare you? And it has to do with two things that should never, ever be seen on a man. Cargo shorts and white socks with black sneakers, or black socks with white sneakers. So I'm walking in Penn Station, and this man was in a hurry, and he's walking by me like I'm 54. He's around my age, but he looked 30 years older than me just because of one simple thing. Cargo shorts, black socks, white sneakers. And I felt terrible for him, and I wanted to stop him and say, sir, who let you out of the house like this? Nobody in that, like, what that outfit told me is, your family doesn't care about you. They don't care about you. They let you out like that in the wild wearing cargo shorts that are oversized so, you know, down to the knees. And by the way, to his credit, he was utilizing the cargo shorts by putting his wallet, keys, and phone in the cargo side pockets that, at the time these were introduced back in the 90s, it seemed convenient. Like, oh, there's some extra pockets. That's pretty good. They weren't meant to be used, everybody. It was all part of fashion. But some of us think that, no, you're supposed to do this like, that. They're meant to be filled with things. So this poor man was walking in New York City. Poor man wearing something that, like, the only thing that he was missing was, like, if he had on slides, that would have just made it worse. Right. So does anyone. Can anyone else, like, agree that if you have somebody in your family and this is a dad thing, I see a lot of older men that do this. How about the denim cargo shorts? So it's like jeans shorts, jorts, but they're cargo, too.
Jacob
Nah.
Peter Rosenberg
And I've seen that. And Then the belt, and they're a little too baggy, so the belts pulled too tight. The whole thing is a. It's a wreck. Don't let anybody and anybody listening right now. If you look down and you go, damn, I'm wearing this like, you got to stop yourself and realize that somebody. Somebody in your family should have stopped you. Somebody should tell you, this is not right. And that's what I saw today. And I feel like we need to talk about it. Am I right or am I wrong? We're all men here. Speak up or forever hold your peace.
Anthony Pusick
Well, I'm not much of a cargo short person. I do think that's like a certain demographic, like you said is an older.
Peter Rosenberg
Older white guy. Go ahead.
Anthony Pusick
You can say it now. The white guy.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, go ahead.
Anthony Pusick
Because I even have an uncle who wears cargo shorts, but he'll wear like the. The Grill Masters. He'll have his Grill Master sandals on. He'll just rock the hell out of him. And I just look at him every time.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm like, you gotta stop him.
Anthony Pusick
You gave up on life a long time ago.
Jacob
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Just quit. How is that quitting? It was a choice to purchase them. They're not comfortable because I tell you right now, they don't look comfortable. All you could tell me is they're functional. I got a lot of crap, and I got to put it in pockets.
Jacob
Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
And this two up here aren't enough. So I need these side pockets for all that extra utility that I bring with me.
Jacob
Great.
Peter Rosenberg
For roller coasters. Because you can. You can button the pocket. That's right. Not going to lose your phone. All right, so wait. Somebody every. Raise your hand if you think Anthony has cargo shorts that he wears to.
Jacob
Definitely has cargo Six Flags.
Peter Rosenberg
Anthony has got cargoes Rocket. The socks. The shoes got to match, though.
Jacob
He can't be doing the black.
Peter Rosenberg
All right. As long as you're not doing the. If you're going black sneakers, white socks, you're a serial killer. What is that, man? If you are doing black socks with white sneakers, you're just a white guy that has your colorblind.
Jacob
I don't believe in white socks in general.
Peter Rosenberg
White Sox in general.
Anthony Pusick
Yeah. I'm not a big White Sox guy either.
Jacob
They get dirty and dingy and also, like, just.
Anthony Pusick
I was always. I was raised on. I went to Catholic school, so wearing white socks with dress shoes.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, you know, there was always. You might get expelled.
Anthony Pusick
They were stripping you down and tell.
Peter Rosenberg
You.
Jacob
It was over for you. So I'm a black Sox guy.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Yeah.
Jacob
But I'm with you.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay?
Anthony Pusick
So. So we.
Peter Rosenberg
All right. So everybody out there understand that that's what I. If you have someone in your family, a father, an uncle, an older brother, whatever it is, and you see them out in the wild, and they're dressed as such, as I described, cargo shorts, probably too long, already a little too baggy. Filled the side pockets filled with, like, the wallet and stuff, which is unnecessary. And then double down with the miscolored socks. And it's only the white socks with black sneakers or black socks with white sneakers. You can't do that either. If that's happening and they're pulled up, you need to care about them enough to say, get your ass back in the house and change this right now. And what you really should do, if you're a woman and you're married to somebody who dresses like this when he's at work, take all those shorts, shred them. Buy him new shorts that don't have pockets on the sides. Take his socks, shred them. Because, you know if you throw them out, he's gonna get him. He's gonna put them back on and just get him. Right? Because he's representing the family.
Anthony Pusick
See, the problem with that is.
Peter Rosenberg
And it'll also tell the world that. That people care about him, because anybody dressed like that out in the wild, the first thing I thought was, his family doesn't give a damn about him.
Anthony Pusick
See this?
Jacob
You can just purchase more cargo.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Anthony Pusick
Or what if there's a lady in his life buying those cargo shorts for him?
Jacob
She likes it.
Peter Rosenberg
Divorce her now.
Anthony Pusick
Wow.
Jacob
You're not divorcing her because she. She obviously agrees with the fashion look if you're wearing them.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, first of all, you called it a fashion look, which is, like, neither. It's not a fashion, and it sure ain't no look.
Jacob
It used to be back when I was in, like, middle school.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Anthony Pusick
When I was the grunge era.
Jacob
Yeah. I had to.
Peter Rosenberg
I had the cargo shorts when they were camo cargo shorts. Maybe you can get away with it, but not this.
Jacob
I hope your daughters gift you cargo shorts for Christmas.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, no, they're all gone. They throw them out. I had a pair of just. Actually, when I do work around the house, I still have one pair left. I do work around the house. I wear them. I do.
Jacob
You just don't want to be seen.
Peter Rosenberg
But if I go to. I go to Home Depot, I'm changing Home Depot, I'm changing. Even though when I get to Home Depot, most of the Men that I see, they're all wearing the same damn thing. It's a uniform, and I'll admit it. It's a white guy uniform. 100% true. It's a white guy dad uniform. But I'm just gonna let you guys know, I do. See, not saying it's not only white guys anymore.
Jacob
Oh, it's.
Peter Rosenberg
There's a whole generation. It's a very diverse thing. It's almost as if it's like I said, it's an affliction. You know how it starts in one race but then it spreads?
Jacob
It's a community.
Peter Rosenberg
It's almost like other people from other communities are going, I guess when I get older, I'm supposed to dress like that. And they start doing it. I look around, and all of a.
Jacob
Sudden I'm like, yo, oh, man, Hector.
Peter Rosenberg
Why are you wearing cargo shorts?
Jacob
I like that.
Peter Rosenberg
Like, you know, like, that's. This is what is. What's happening. So that's what I needed to talk about. Get off my chest. Because the man I saw today, all I kept thinking was his family doesn't care about him. They let him out in the wild like this. So that's what I got to say about that.
Jacob
You got anything 800-919-3776.
Peter Rosenberg
Sure.
Caller
So we do.
Jacob
We pose that to the audience.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, I mean, if anybody wants to talk about it, of course we'll take your call. So you have anything you need to get off your chest?
Jacob
I do. Taking the train today, thinking, you know what? Nice day outside, was it?
Peter Rosenberg
It was disgusting. It's a million degrees. The air quality is terrible.
Jacob
Nice day outside. Put the headphones on. I'm bumping the K show. Gotta get my baseball, you know, fixin'. Shout out, Michael K. So I'm sitting down, just minding my business, and on comes this woman with a blunt. Smoking a blunt is out and about, broad daylight.
Peter Rosenberg
That's New York.
Jacob
Now, here's the thing. I'm not a weed smoker, but I respect your freedoms. I know we've gotten loose with all the laws and everything. I respect that. My problem with you smoking a blunt on this train is I walk into the ESPN New York studio smelling like weed. I'm not getting the benefit of the doubt. No, you see the way I look. I have the look, you know, I fit that look, right? Of someone who smokes weed before work.
Anthony Pusick
Only I can say it.
Jacob
You can say it.
Peter Rosenberg
You. Wait, wait, wait.
Jacob
I fit the profile.
Peter Rosenberg
First of all, I would easily say it.
Jacob
Second of all, I fit the profile.
Peter Rosenberg
You do not fit the profile.
Jacob
I fit the profile. I'm a young black man.
Anthony Pusick
Young, black, young black man in New York.
Peter Rosenberg
How old are you? How old are you now?
Jacob
32.
Peter Rosenberg
You are not young. You are over 30. Wow.
Jacob
Comparatively, you are over 30. Yeah. The back is starting to hurt a little bit. But anyway, listen, like I said, lady, I respect your freedoms. I respect your hustle. Do what you got to do. If that's, like, a common thing, keep.
Peter Rosenberg
Those strange clouds away from me.
Jacob
Can you not smoke it directly next to people as they are traveling?
Peter Rosenberg
I agree.
Jacob
I can't come into work smelling like weed, man. That's unprofessional. And look, it's a joke. But I'm also serious.
Peter Rosenberg
No, I completely agree that you have your freedom. So do I.
Jacob
Puff, puff, passing it on the train, but not passing. That's the not passing it. She's doing it. What do they call the solo smokes, Jacob? What they call it?
Anthony Pusick
Oh, like pre rolls and.
Jacob
No, no, no. When you smoking it by yourself. She's facing the blunt.
Anthony Pusick
Oh, she's facing the blunt.
Jacob
She's facing the blunt. Just directly next to me as I am for the first time. And, you know, with this iteration of the show. Co host. I've never made an appearance on dhr. This is my first time.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay.
Jacob
It's like an audition. I have to nail it.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Jacob
Last thing I can do. Show up to the studio smelling like weed.
Peter Rosenberg
And then it's like, you know. Was Ty good today?
Jacob
He seemed a little off.
Peter Rosenberg
And by the way, did you smell when he came in, his reaction?
Jacob
Yeah, his reaction time was a little off. That's all I'm saying. That's not too much to ask.
Peter Rosenberg
It's not. And we should talk about it because we always feel like I can't say, oh, I don't want to upset anyone, because they are apparently now. It's okay. And I don't want to come off as the person that doesn't understand. I don't want to be the Karen.
Jacob
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
That is saying you can't smoke in front of me. But in reality, what we forget is, yes, you have your rights and your privileges, but so do I.
Jacob
There's some decorum that we do have.
Peter Rosenberg
A right to not have to inhale whatever the hell you've got going on right there.
Jacob
And again, I'm sure there are a lot of smokers who listen to the show. I am not at all coming at y'.
Peter Rosenberg
All.
Jacob
All I'm saying is, man, on the train heading to. On the train.
Peter Rosenberg
Definitely not on the train.
Jacob
Yeah, like it's nothing. Had no fears in the world at all. Come on, dog. We gotta be a little bit better than that.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm with you on that.
Jacob
Do I smell?
Peter Rosenberg
No. You're good anyways, by the way. You're good.
Jacob
Do I smell like anything?
Peter Rosenberg
It did not. It did not. It did not stick to you.
Jacob
Okay.
Peter Rosenberg
The only thing you smell like is brilliance. Anybody else want to get something off their chest, talk about it today? Jake, Anthony, Brownie. Nothing. Yeah, look at him run out of the room. You got something?
Anthony Pusick
No, nothing. Nothing.
Jacob
I have one thing I want to say to Jacob.
Anthony Pusick
Oh, geez, here we go. And I think it's going to tie in with something I got to say.
Jacob
But whoops, I committed the crime, I guess of. You know how sometimes off air you have conversations and once you are a radio personality, it's hard to separate it. Sometimes it's hard to separate.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay.
Jacob
You don't know what's, you know, what's a red flag on air versus off air. So I guess one too many times I mentioned the Instagram stories being on his personal story. I used to get access behind the stage, access to what my man Jacob was doing on his weekends. Now all of a sudden I went, yo. I used to wake up Saturday mornings just like in awe of what this man could accomplish at 4am and I guess I spoke about it too much on the air to. Now that's no longer been privy to me.
Peter Rosenberg
It's none.
Jacob
Yeah, it's just I got blocked, I guess.
Peter Rosenberg
It's Nunya.
Jacob
Yeah, that's it. All I get is the ESPN New York bathroom selfie during the show. That's it. The bathroom selfie. I got kicked out of the Cool club.
Peter Rosenberg
First of all, take a bathroom selfie.
Anthony Pusick
First of all, I haven't taken over a bathroom selfie in a couple months now.
Jacob
Because he cut the braids.
Anthony Pusick
I didn't think about it.
Jacob
Yeah, when you had the braids going.
Anthony Pusick
Oh, yeah, when I had the braids going.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, you were feeling yourself. I was in there like every day.
Anthony Pusick
Like every day. But to answer Ty's statement, I haven't posted a story in a while. Ty, you know I don't have nothing to hide from you. If I had anything to hide, it'd be from John, maybe Alan, Don. You know, I don't want them to see certain things.
Peter Rosenberg
You know what? I can't see his stories either.
Jacob
No, but they will come down on a personal story. Oh, this is like a select. My boy is.
Peter Rosenberg
Look at that right? Yeah. Yeah.
Jacob
I'm telling you, man, he used to get down Friday night, Saturday night Jacob was doing his thing, but I guess I said it too much on the air. He's like, nah, we got to put an end to that.
Peter Rosenberg
Nah.
Anthony Pusick
I think for me it just, I stopped hanging out as much. That's all it was. It wasn't. I would stop going out as much. I started doing the regular boring go to work, go to the gym, home, and that's it. Every once in a while you pop out. Two weekends ago, I popped out for the first time all summer.
Peter Rosenberg
Really?
Anthony Pusick
And it was fun.
Jacob
But Alan, when I tell you he was having a great time.
Peter Rosenberg
Strip clubs. No. In the Barton Hahn days, Bar would get it all. Adam.
Jacob
Yeah, he was doing his thing. My man.
Peter Rosenberg
Bar took him out one time too. That ended up.
Jacob
Wait. Yeah, I think I like vaguely heard about this.
Anthony Pusick
It was a nice Knicks game.
Jacob
It was.
Peter Rosenberg
That was an after. That's an After Dark podcast.
Anthony Pusick
I would love to get into it one day.
Peter Rosenberg
I bet you would. That was the. That was. Let's talk about. Oh man, he just got up and left. That was. Let's talk about it. Sponsored by better help. Visit betterhelp.com timeout today for 10% off your first month of therapy. And after that segment, we certainly need it.

Game Time is brought to you by Tullimar. Do Irish whiskey because Jake, when it's game time, I like when he holds it.
Jacob
Oh, that's a, that's a drop. I always thought that that was live.
Peter Rosenberg
Don would pass out if he did that twice a show. It's game time. So we have the Mets continuing their series with the Padres out in San Diego coverage immediately following Pat O' Keef on 8:80 at 9:00pm, Yankees in the Rays. That's game two of their series. That's at 7:05 in the Bronx. Telemardu, the original triple distilled, triple blended, triple cast matured Irish whiskey. Be sure to grab a Telemardu or try the new Telemore due honey, during today's action, glasses up to enjoying Telemardu responsibly.
Jacob
Here we go.
Peter Rosenberg
So five o', clock, let's get into the football of it all the training camps, right, Lots to do there. But for now, a lot of Yankee calls to discuss. So let's do that. Let's go with Steve in Middle Village. Steve, you're up next.
Caller
Hello, gentlemen. Thank you for taking the call. I appreciate it. So baby Ty, I, I completely agree with you about your World Series cake. They I called the other day, Alan, if you remember, and I think it was yesterday, and I was saying that I haven't solved any team that the Yankees have had the last, you know, since the last World Series. Even that that World Series team didn't feel like they were going to go all the way. I completely agree with you. It set the team, the set the franchise back several years because they were proven right. Alan, I agree with your robotic comment about the players, the manager, especially this whole thing now that you can't fight. It just doesn't feel good. My feeling is that the Yankees are a team that's too big to fail, if you know what I mean. They need to keep on having 45,000 people in the ballpark and there are always excuses when they don't do well. It's like everything repeats and repeats. I mean, that's my feeling. I wanted to get back into like in the Yankees, but it doesn't, I don't like.
Peter Rosenberg
Is the problem that I think we just continue to talk about and we keep being told. Stephen, thanks for the call. Nothing you can do about it. They're not going to change like we keep. So it's, it's, it becomes. You just have to accept it. It's almost like submit and obey. Right. Like, they're not firing Cashmen. They're not changing the way they play. They're sticking to their.
Jacob
Why is the. The firing Cashmen not ever on the board? Because what's the reasoning behind the connection.
Peter Rosenberg
With House dimenter and the fact that Hal Starmender continues to believe in it?
Jacob
So that's.
Peter Rosenberg
I also think there's a fear.
Jacob
But that's why people are annoyed with Hal. It's not that he's cheap. It's because of this, like, dude. It's been 15 years, man.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. But again, the argument that Don keeps bringing up, and he's right, is that they just pushed back saying it works. Look at our record every year, 90 wins. We're in the playoffs every year. The one blip was two years ago.
Jacob
They're not in the playoffs every year.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no. But the feeling is that you never have a losing season. You always have a chance.
Jacob
I just can't stand when people.
Peter Rosenberg
And as you said, they'll have an excuse after every year that doesn't work. And this year's excuse will be. Well, I mean, we.
Jacob
But we keep in the playoffs every year. No, they're not.
Peter Rosenberg
I, I, you're right about. No, they're not.
Jacob
It's not every year.
Peter Rosenberg
But. But it. More than none. More than not.
Jacob
Okay.
Peter Rosenberg
So that very rarely are they not.
Jacob
That is incredible that that's become the standard.
Peter Rosenberg
But that's where. And that's why I said that Jeter is the way he is with this franchise. Jeter is the way he is with this franchise. Because I think he sees it as. This isn't what we. This isn't who we were. And he doesn't like it.
Jacob
And Brian just running the organization and it's.
Peter Rosenberg
And he. You clearly.
Jacob
Good luck with that.
Peter Rosenberg
He has all the say and he's never reprimanded. And they'll continue to let him keep trying to build a chain.
Jacob
There was. What happened to that audit a couple of years ago.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Jacob
It just never happened. It went away.
Peter Rosenberg
Right. Change our ways. We got to look into the way we're doing things.
Jacob
But they were going to have an independent company come in and audit their analytics.
Peter Rosenberg
They were told you do it right. Sam in Brooklyn. Sam.
Caller
What's up, fellas? Listen, I'm about to die in the hill with my cargo shorts. On.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, no.
Caller
Just letting you know. You could wear them if you, if you style them right. Right. You got a nice, nice clean shirt, some fire kicks, you could do it. I don't know why you got this thing about you can never wear them.
Peter Rosenberg
It's, it's the whole idea of like. First of all, when you wear yours, do they go down your knees?
Caller
No.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay, so that's.
Caller
Yeah, yeah, I'm not, I'm not. Yeah, I'm not rocking.
Peter Rosenberg
You understand what I'm.
Caller
Yeah, I'm not rocking old school cargo.
Peter Rosenberg
That's what I'm doing. Yeah, but I'm talking. Yeah, but that's what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about something that's a crisp, like, like a, like a thick khaki that's holding on. Like it holds its shape. I'm talking about, you know, the, the battered and just beaten. Maybe. Maybe washed too much. The pockets are filled with stuff.
Caller
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
You can hear the change in the keys.
Jacob
But Sam.
Peter Rosenberg
And then the black socks and the white sneakers thing. Sam, that set me off.
Jacob
But hang on, Sam. But you are saying that you pro. You're still pro cargo shorts, right? Just.
Caller
I am. Yeah, definitely. So, I mean, I feel like, yeah, I'm pro cargo. But I'm just saying. I'm saying, you know, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm a little, I'm like, I'm like, I'm, I'm Don from like four years ago. Right. A little bigger than I should be. Right. It's hard to get nice crispy, clean stuff. No non cargo pants that fit. You know what I mean? So I gotta rock the cargoes because that's, that's, that's what they, you know.
Peter Rosenberg
They work for you.
Caller
What? I work for me. But, but, but, but I'm not sloppy with it. Right. You know what I mean? Like, you know, I'm gonna, I'm talking like a clean again, clean button down.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Caller
You know, rocking the all white air force ones. You know what I mean?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, yeah. You're.
Caller
You're away with that.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes. That's a completely different conversation than what I saw today. That felt like an abandoned man. And I felt.
Caller
You saw Home Depot. You saw Home Depot cargo show.
Peter Rosenberg
And I felt bad. I got you, Sam. God bless you.
Jacob
Alan's out here offending the bigger community because he said he's done. He's done from four years ago. On the bigger side, he was calling himself Repug.
Peter Rosenberg
Don.
Ty Butler
