Peter Rosenberg
That's race.
Don La Greca
We've mentioned all the different players that could be the next quarterback of the New York Jets. Right. We kicked the tires on Kyler Murray. Looks like he's going to Minnesota. Malik Willis fantasized about that. It was a pipe dream to begin with. Everybody seems to be pegging him to go to Miami. So a lot of these guys coming off so now it's. It's Kirk Cousins. It's Geno Smith who was officially released today Raiders. But if you listen to Connor Hughes from sny a little thing going on between Reich and Wentz and is now. Has he become the front runner Carson Wentz to be the jets quarterback in 2026.
Peter Rosenberg
Can you play the sad music again?
Alan Hahn
I'm just asking again.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean where do we rank him? Peter jets fans, you deserve better than to be having a conversation about not in 2026. Carson Wentz is going to be your starting quarterback. This guy is hanging on to being in the league by a thread. In fact it's more than. It's less than a thread. It's a thread off of Frank Reich's crusty boxers. That is what he's hanging on to
Don La Greca
underwear today.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, a lot of underwear talk. Yeah a lot of crusty I this guys Carson.
Don La Greca
Where do you rank them then?
Peter Rosenberg
As low as I can rank him. Okay, name a player.
Don La Greca
I'll put him behind Geno Smith.
Peter Rosenberg
Behind him for sure. Not even a question.
Alan Hahn
If I may. If I may.
Peter Rosenberg
Cousins. That's no but well behind Cousins.
Alan Hahn
Go ahead. I'm gonna go back to what my good friend Jeremy Fowler has told me several times when I've asked Jay foul if you will.
Don La Greca
Yeah, talk to you but not us.
Alan Hahn
Jay fal.
Don La Greca
I'm a little offended.
Alan Hahn
And that is that the quarterback chase this for in free agency will be a game of musical chairs and the jets will be the team that does not have a chair. Right. And he has made that clear to me. Like, the people don't want to go there. They just don't.
Don La Greca
But come here.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. Well, you talked about it and again, Connor Hughes said it. It's interesting. Remember, he brought him. He had him in Philly and he played great there. He brought him to Indianapolis so you could see that there was clearly a reason to bring him there. He was in Minnesota. Well, I'm saying, but, you know, he's in Minnesota, so he's been in the league. Again, my prediction is this. I predict like, you know, following the Giants. What we were just talking about that I think during the meeting before the show, right. With the Giants did bringing in two veterans and then you draft one. I think that's the formula. Geno Smith's the easy veteran to sign like Russ was because, you know, even though it's kind of fallen off, there's a track record. Geno was bad last year. 17 interceptions. The team was bad. They were 2 and 13 in his starts. But the previous three years before that he was very good. Like, you know, 23 touchdowns a year. Kept it under 12 interceptions a year, 4,000 yards a year, you know, 27 and 22 record. So it's not that far away from being a capable, functioning quarterback. You do that, you get Wentz because Reich wants him, and then you draft the quarterback and then you just do what the Giants did and just see how it all plays out. I'm predicting that's the best they're going to do.
Don La Greca
Yeah, I agree.
Alan Hahn
Tell me why I'm wrong.
Don La Greca
No, you're not wrong. Because of the first thing you said, you know, that he. That Reich wants him and he's gonna want to come here and the whole thing with the musical chairs is, is the reason you're gonna have to take the scraps is because the jets are not an attractive place for quarterbacks to go.
Alan Hahn
Right.
Don La Greca
A they know it's a. It's a short term and it's not going to be a winning season. So Wentz, I think guys, that it feels like it's going to be him. It does.
Alan Hahn
Doesn't mean he's going to be the starter, though. It doesn't mean he's your starter.
Don La Greca
But he's there now. It's been talked about too. Will they pull a Giants and bring in two veterans now? The Giants brought in two veterans, but really never took advantage of the two
Peter Rosenberg
because no, no, why would they have?
Don La Greca
They didn't play Winston until they absolutely had to after the fact.
Peter Rosenberg
No, they let Winston just sit in street clothes as Russell Wilson completely floundered. It made absolutely no sense.
Don La Greca
But I think in this scenario's job.
Alan Hahn
Well, and that's why I think in this scenario, I think you, you be like, let again, this is all hypotheticals. They draft Simpson or whoever else you could get in this. In this draft. And you have you signed Geno Because Gino's at that place where I think most teams would bring him in as a backup. I don't think anybody would look at him at 36. He'll be 36 next season. Like, I don't think you'll look at him as a. As a fix. There's too many other quarterbacks out there that, especially with Kyler out there. I think you bring in Geno, you bring back Geno and then Wentz becomes the guy that knows the system. You know, he's in the room, whatever it is, and then whoever this rookie is and that's what they're doing. And I think Geno is what Russell Wilson was supposed to be for the Giants. And you have him play until the wheels fall off. But the best part is both are short term. Like Kyler Murray you're not getting for a one year deal. Like you're not getting a lot of these guys on a one year deal. So maybe it makes sense for those who just want it to be a bridge situation that you do this. And if it's awful, the good news is you're in play for a quarterback next year in the draft. Right. That's kind of, I think, better than signing someone to a multi year deal and then kind of being stuck in that middle of the middle of the road where, you know, it's not really a great quarterback. But now you're stuck because you offered him a multi year deal.
Don La Greca
So if we all, and I think we're all in agreement that they should try to have. They should try to win as many games as they can. As much a lot of Jet fans sick. You got to put together a winning team.
Alan Hahn
You have to.
Don La Greca
So let's take Willis out of the equation because he's gonna be very expensive and he's not going to want to come here.
Alan Hahn
Right.
Don La Greca
So if you're looking. Besides that, but. So if you're looking at Smith and Cousins and Wentz, like what quarterback do you think gives them the best chance to win?
Alan Hahn
Some games I would think Geno does.
Don La Greca
See, I would think Cousins would. What about you, Peter?
Alan Hahn
Cousins can't throw anymore.
Peter Rosenberg
To win them some games. I'm worried that Cousins is broken.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. And broken. You mean like his arm is broken? Well, he could be. Do you like getting hit?
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, that's different. Like Gino I think will be just like Gino's. Gino's going the wrong direction probably now. But like we'll give you serviceable play. I worry there's a chance with Cousins. He went overnight from being like the 40 million dollar man you can count on for 30 some touchdowns to just completely unreliable now.
Don La Greca
Last year he did.
Peter Rosenberg
When you go back and look, his numbers weren't bad, but do you ever remember there being any positive talk about him over the last couple of years?
Alan Hahn
No, it's just kind of.
Peter Rosenberg
It's gone away quickly.
Alan Hahn
And there's a reason why Atlanta did what they did. Right?
Peter Rosenberg
You would think so.
Alan Hahn
You know what I mean? Like. Like from. From everything I've. You know, you're looking at all these guys, right? His accuracy was the worst of his career. Like he. And it was still decent. He's still over 60%, but it was the worst of his career. That's part. That's. With all the weapons that they have there, that's a problem, right? I don't know. He's probably. His mind is probably still really good. He is a savant, but I don't know if he physically is bringing it like he was when he was at, you know, 69, 70% accuracy because he's not a great athlete. But look, here are the other names. Here's your options. Do you go Flacco, do you go Jimmy G? Like Kenny Pickett's not doing anything for you, right?
Don La Greca
No, like these are the.
Alan Hahn
This is. This is what you're left. This is the flotsam and jetsam you're left with.
Don La Greca
If you're the jets, there's one other guy.
Alan Hahn
Oh, here we go.
Don La Greca
And that's Tua.
Alan Hahn
Oh God.
Don La Greca
You know the. The rumor. Because they. They're gonna want to trade them. Can't trade them. Nobody take on that salary. But try to make it attractive and attach a first round pick. And with the jets having the cap room that they have and you know, collecting another first round pick, which could help you in 27 to trade up. If you do have a good season with Tua, could that be. End up being the best option? Falls on his face. So what, we got a pick out of it. If he ends up winning us some games. That doesn't matter because we're going to have another first round pick to put together the package to move up if we end up winning six or seven games. Because Tua, to me, healthy Tua is better than all those guys. That's the hardest part, to bring in somebody else because Tua could probably get hurt. But does the first round pick, which is the 11th overall pick, give you any movement?
Alan Hahn
I wouldn't mind taking.
Peter Rosenberg
I would.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. This year, this year's 11th pick, you said. And you know what I'd do with it. And you know, I've traded, trade it next for next year. Like, I, I don't mind taking their first if I don't have to. The problem is I'm taking his contract, though. If you're doing that.
Don La Greca
Well, that's why they're offering a first.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don La Greca
They need to get out.
Alan Hahn
And I don't, I don't love, I don't love being buried now in that.
Don La Greca
Well, it's only, it's only how much left?
Alan Hahn
He. There's a lot of money left. Like 90 million, isn't it?
Don La Greca
Yeah, but you're going to have like a ton of money under the Don.
Alan Hahn
The problem is why are they moving on from him? Because his availability, he's, he's, he's, he's always hurt. He's one hit away from maybe ending his career. It's a ton of money, and they
Don La Greca
have a new coach and it didn't work out. But they're also trying to free up some money because if Willis is, if Miami's gonna be the destination for Willis, it's going to cost them.
Alan Hahn
Mm.
Don La Greca
It's gonna cost them north of $40 million.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, I get it.
Don La Greca
So that, that to me, is why they'd want to free up that money. Listen, they're looking to get out from under him anyway.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don La Greca
But again, the jets are looking for just somebody that can be their quarterback for a year. You're still gonna have to bring in another guy. What if you had Tua and Wentz? That'd be something.
Alan Hahn
Oh, yeah.
Don La Greca
You know, and then obviously you'd have to bring in another veteran, because if you do draft a quarterback, or if you don't, you're gonna have to have some insurance policy because two will most likely will get hurt. But if he didn't, you'd win some games. No, I mean, there's still ability there.
Alan Hahn
You know what, though?
Don La Greca
I, I, you can't say like getting
Alan Hahn
hit, that's nobody, nobody likes. But, but the Guys that really hate it are the ones you worry about the most.
Don La Greca
He's the, he's the Philip Heedle of the NFL. It's just like every time he gets hit, you hold your breath.
Peter Rosenberg
You do get up.
Alan Hahn
It's. It's so scary, Don. Like if I don't have to trade for him, different story. Because he does have. We know he has talent. He's an accurate passer. Yes, he's kind of small, but he can throw it. And it's, it's if, if you're getting him like again, like some teams are going to get Kyler, it's a different story.
Don La Greca
Well, if they're offering a first round pick and again, I don't know how official any of this stuff is that's interesting. Then they have no intention of releasing him because that, all that dead cap money.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, that's why you give it the first. It's worth it to you.
Don La Greca
So it sounds like they'd hold on to them, but again, I don't know their cap situation. Could they, could they have all that dead money and be able to bring in Willis?
Alan Hahn
I don't believe so. I think they'd really be tied up. But these are not great options.
Don La Greca
These are all like, this is slim
Alan Hahn
pit, the putrid reality of the jets and quarterback. That's why when some of the other names that came up and I'm laughing, I'm like, they're not going to have a chance at him. They're not going to have a chance at him. Like they're going to get the bottom of the barrel. And that's why as much as it's. If you say to it to the jets and you just want to throw up, you're like, no, understand, like this is, this is what it's going to be. Geno Smith, tua, Carson Wentz. Like, this is what you're getting. What makes the most sense to me right out of the gate. What makes the most sense is it doesn't tie me up for multiple years.
Don La Greca
Now Frank wants to throw another name into the hopper. Frank Newark. You're on ESPN New York. What's up, Frank?
Caller/Listener
Hey, good afternoon, guys. I was actually saying this for the jets to Send throw a second round pick over to the 49ers for Mac Jones. Now I'm, I'm saying this, that he show. He's shown that in, in Kyle's system that he was. He's actually been very efficient. He actually what played eight games and what have you. And if you look at the jets, we have they, we haven't had luck in the second round to begin with. I mean, Densel Mims, so on and so forth.
Don La Greca
So the second round has been a disaster forever. Alex Van Dyke, that far, how about that?
Alan Hahn
Nope. They got pretty solid.
Peter Rosenberg
Low risk.
Caller/Listener
Yeah, low risk, high reward.
Alan Hahn
Well, he's played, he played 11 games in that system last year and his numbers were decent. You know, almost 70% completion, 11 touchdowns, six interceptions. That system though, you know, that's. That they, it's like, it's like a filter. It makes everybody looks like.
Don La Greca
Frank, it's like leggings. What, what is good? Are you saying that maybe, maybe Mac Jones could be their future quarterback? Are you talking about. Mac Jones is just a bridge quarterback.
Caller/Listener
You know, it's like the drive, it's, it's hard to define because at this point you're look, you're, you're looking at it and saying to yourself, you don't
Peter Rosenberg
know what next year's draft class is
Caller/Listener
going to look like at the quarterback. You don't even know if you can. You're able to pick that high.
Don La Greca
I know. Here's the thing, Frank, is that a second round pick is. It's a lot to give up for someone that you're only going to have
Peter Rosenberg
play for a year.
Don La Greca
And it's also a lot to give up if he's going to end up being my backup quarterback because I'm going to draft another quarterback in 2027. Guys, I don't know if I'm giving up a second round. Mac Jones is intriguing to me.
Alan Hahn
You're not giving up. You don't have to do that.
Don La Greca
But a second round pick is too much for me.
Alan Hahn
You don't have to. I don't think you'd have to do that.
Peter Rosenberg
And why would you do that? These are all stop gaps. No one you're looking to get here is your future. So you're not giving up a top three round. No. 1 in the first three rounds you give it up.
Don La Greca
No, because again, the point is the only way I give up a second round pick is if I'm going to have him be in contention to be my answer. And does anybody think Mac Jones is going to be the answer? Remember, he's coming from a system where like everybody looks good.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don La Greca
Right.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don La Greca
And you know, going to some place where nobody ever looks good.
Alan Hahn
By the way, how old, how old do you think he is?
Don La Greca
Mac Jones? Yeah. 25.
Alan Hahn
Higher. Bob.
Don La Greca
Older.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. With 27?
Alan Hahn
28.
Caller/Listener
20.
Peter Rosenberg
28.
Alan Hahn
Isn't that crazy?
Don La Greca
Well, no, because again Time flies, man.
Alan Hahn
Been a league five years.
Don La Greca
Belichick. Belichick was his coach, right? Belichick's been out for how long?
Alan Hahn
But still though, like, like, you know, really, he's going to be. I should say when the season starts, he'll be 28. He's 27, but you know, it's September. He'll be 28. 28's like.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, dude. When he got to the lead, Belichick's girlfriend was still in high school.
Alan Hahn
That's actually accurate.
Peter Rosenberg
I think it's close, right?
Alan Hahn
No, no, I don't think you're wrong. He got in the league in, in, in 21.
Don La Greca
Now that's. That's the thing is that it's not.
Alan Hahn
It's five years ago.
Don La Greca
Doesn't feel. How old is she five years ago?
Peter Rosenberg
She might be 25 now, though.
Don La Greca
Emily Kaplan. Oh, I don't know.
Peter Rosenberg
What do we say?
Don La Greca
If it's a WOJ bomb, it's a Q bomb.
Alan Hahn
Because everything apparently is in the queue.
Don La Greca
It's a. It's a cue bomb. Sounds like the Rangers did make one additional move.
Alan Hahn
Oh, okay. No, Peter, it's okay. Okay. No, let's hear it.
Don La Greca
I don't, I don't. I don't. I don't.
Alan Hahn
Listen, it's not worth it.
Don La Greca
You know who it is. Ranger fans will know. Brennan Othman to Calgary. In the queue.
Alan Hahn
This is the most I think I've seen at a deadline where things have
Don La Greca
been in the queue past three now
Alan Hahn
to the point where we're at four. And we just found out about 16 minutes ago, Nazem Kadri got traded to Colorado.
Don La Greca
He got traded to Colorado.
Alan Hahn
See, you didn't know. Now we know.
Don La Greca
Wow. He goes back to Colorado. God, he's a punk. And. And I mean that in the best way possible. Yeah, it's a. Compaying him a compliment.
Alan Hahn
You hate him unless he's on your team.
Don La Greca
Yeah, and he is.
Alan Hahn
Oh, God.
Don La Greca
Colorado and doubt. That is going to be a war in the second round if Minnesota does not beat them.
Alan Hahn
Why is that a second round?
Don La Greca
Because we're morons. Why Is that a second round?
Alan Hahn
Don?
Peter Rosenberg
1 of them are not going to
Don La Greca
make it to the conference finals.
Alan Hahn
Stupid.
Don La Greca
Save it for Tuesday because again, we'll have to. We'll have to cancel the rest of the show. I'm red hot. I hate this system. I hate it right now. Colorado is the best. Dallas is what? The second best team in the league. Minnesota is the fourth best team in the league. Not the west, the league. They're Playing each other in the first round. One of them is going to be gone.
Alan Hahn
So stupid.
Don La Greca
Because last I checked, you can't play a seven game series without a loser for anybody. Because we want to have a stupid bracket to go to. NHL join our bracket, our bracket challenge. It's going to be so much fun. So much fun. We're going take either the second or fourth best team in the league and boot him out of the first round so some yo yo in Nebraska can have fun. That's what you porn's for.
Alan Hahn
Jacob Battaglia is the return for Brennan Othman.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay, thank you, Anthony.
Don La Greca
God, it just. It's so annoying. It is so annoying.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, it is.
Don La Greca
God, and it's every. It's the Central Division every year, right? Winnipeg's the best team. So our third best team. And Dallas is second. They're going to play each other. One of them is going home. And then coaches lose jobs, Peter. Because they get bounced in the first round. Meanwhile, nobody pays attention to the play in the first round.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don La Greca
Oh, no. Win your division then. Do you see Colorado's in your division? They just have Nazam Kadri. Because apparently none of these teams have caps. Dallas can make trades for everybody. Oh, well, Tyler Sagan got hurt. I didn't know Tyler Sagan was making $3 billion. Tampa, same thing. All these teams, they make trades. Teams we root for in all sports. Like, there's no cap space. I got those.
Peter Rosenberg
I got no cap space.
Don La Greca
But the good teams, they always find a way. They always add players, right? Football too. Kansas City adds. But how are they adding all these players?
Alan Hahn
Just, just so you know, the, the Lanch, the Stars and the Wild represent three of the top four teams in the entire NHL. They're all in the same division.
Don La Greca
Peter, what are we gonna do about Lanch? Yeah, I don't. Lance is.
Alan Hahn
What are we. What are we gonna do about that?
Peter Rosenberg
About Lance?
Alan Hahn
Like, what are we gonna.
Peter Rosenberg
What, should we say something?
Alan Hahn
Should we just end the show?
Peter Rosenberg
What are we gonna.
Don La Greca
How are we gonna handle that?
Alan Hahn
Really offended you, didn't it?
Don La Greca
Well, defended them. They go, abs, abs. Make sense.
Alan Hahn
I understand. That's why I said Lance.
Don La Greca
It's, it's, it's.
Alan Hahn
It's old school. That's from the 90s.
Peter Rosenberg
I've never heard. Lance, I know you only say that
Don La Greca
when you don't like the team or it's. It's coming from a place of hate. He chose violence with that because I
Alan Hahn
really want to set you off for three of the top four teams in the entire league are in the entire
Don La Greca
league and one of them is out in the first round guaranteed locked.
Alan Hahn
Just don't understand Don. You want a random hockey trade before we go to break?
Don La Greca
Yes.
Alan Hahn
Ryan Strom to Calgary. Oh, wow.
Don La Greca
Why? Well, I, you know what for here's, here's why does Anaheim have to create space? Because Calgary doesn't need any.
Alan Hahn
A seventh round pick in 27. So this, this deadline is really just.
Don La Greca
But, no, but Anaheim added so they must have some.
Alan Hahn
They needed a roster space. Yeah.
Don La Greca
You know they got Carlson. Do you realize Carlson was the longest he was in Washington longer than Ovechkin. John Carlson was seven years in Washington. He was traded to anaheim at like 2 o' clock in the morning. Yeah.
Alan Hahn
While you were sleeping.
Don La Greca
While you were sleeping. Apparently while he was sleeping. He didn't find out about it until he got up.
Alan Hahn
And how their general manager of the Capitals, Chris Drury not informed the team that John Carlson was getting traded.
Don La Greca
Now, John Carlson maybe with the greatest defenseman in Washington capital's history, but I was still blown away. He's been there longer than over Michigan.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, no, he's been there forever.
Don La Greca
It's crazy. What are you gonna do? It's life on the slopes.

Hi. Hey. How's everyone doing for great? Wonderful. Welcome to Fraud Alert Friday brought to you by Dagostino Law.
Don La Greca
Dagostino.
Peter Rosenberg
Let's get right to it. Got plenty of emails here for the people. Dhrespn gmail.com dhremail.com where you come for your fraud alert questions. I want to give a shout out to my. My good buddy Mark Epstein, AKA Stinis Dine, who told me he's in the chat today because he injured his back badly, apparently while shoveling one of the storms that hit the Baltimore.
Don La Greca
Oh, no.
Peter Rosenberg
Pinched nerve in the hole. Nine. And he listens. What'd you say? Say it again now.
Alan Hahn
Huh? I think we lost Don.
Don La Greca
No, I'm right here.
Alan Hahn
There he is.
Peter Rosenberg
What'd you say? So say it once again.
Don La Greca
Traction. Is he in traction?
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, I don't know if he's in traction, but he is gonna be out of commission, so he said he's consuming Now Live on YouTube, which he had never done before. So welcome aboard, buddy.
Don La Greca
Welcome.
Peter Rosenberg
Colin reaches out to us and says. My name is Colin. 35, born in North Carolina, raised in South Carolina. I've lived in New York since 2011. My first sports love is the Carolina Panthers. Panthers, Carolina Panthers. Their first season was when I was five. I've grown up with them and I will cry tears as a grown man if they a grown ass man if they ever win the Super Bowl. Growing up, I never had a baseball team. Most people from my area, Northwest South Carolina were Braves fans. But to me, it was impossible to cheer for a baseball team from the same city as the football team that I loathe and despise.
Don La Greca
That's a good point.
Peter Rosenberg
I was a Charlotte Hornets fan, but they moved when I was 12. Very tough age to see that happen. Since moving to New York, I still don't care about hockey. Sorry, Anthony and Don. Game misconduct. Still a great podcast name. Over the past 10 years or so, I've become incredibly invested as a Met and Nick fan. I'd never be a shameless front runner by being a Yankee fan. And the Nets were still in Jersey when I moved to the city, so I don't think of them as an option. When I tell people this, they either look down on me as a Johnny come lately or call me a fraud. Mostly for turning my back on the horse. Hornets for the Knicks. Am I a fraud, Don?
Don La Greca
No, because they. They moved. So what was he supposed to do? Right?
Alan Hahn
Well, they came back.
Don La Greca
Well, they came. So what?
Peter Rosenberg
But he was gone.
Don La Greca
But I.
Alan Hahn
So they came back after he left?
Peter Rosenberg
That's right. Okay, they came back.
Don La Greca
Post 2011 on him. Okay, So I don't find any fraud in that. I mean, they. They don't care about him. They up and moved. They had the whole bobcat garbage. No, zero what do they got, Alan? What do they. What do they have there besides grandmama? Nothing.
Alan Hahn
What did they have or what do they have now?
Don La Greca
Yeah, nothing.
Alan Hahn
I mean, they've. They've got a really intriguing young team. Right.
Don La Greca
Well, now. But I'm just saying, growing up.
Alan Hahn
Oh, no. After. After all that. Yeah, yeah, no, they were.
Peter Rosenberg
It was bad.
Alan Hahn
They weren't good. Then they became Bobcats. Thing was an absolute disaster, man.
Don La Greca
So, no, I find no fraud.
Peter Rosenberg
You guys good with that dagger?
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, listen, you're the arbiter. It doesn't matter. But like I also pointed out, this is the one thing I try to push here. Even though I admit some of the fraudulence I have, there is a thing about that. Again, I have to point out, you guys have not quite experienced this yet and you probably never will at this point. There is a thing about moving to a city that becomes your permanent home and having no connection to a team in that city, like, for the rest of your life. So, like, I especially like if he had given up his Panthers, who were like his ride or die team. I think that Don were having a conversation. But if it's like, oh, yeah, I like the Hornets, then they left. Yeah. Why wouldn't you pick up the Mets and the Knicks? You live here now. This is your home. You don't want to.
Don La Greca
Because if they didn't move and he was a. And he was a fan, it didn't sound like there was any traction there anyway.
Alan Hahn
Right, right.
Don La Greca
So no problem. But no, you're still a fraud, Peter.
Peter Rosenberg
Thank you.
Don La Greca
You can doctor it up all you want, but becoming a Knick fan because you live in.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm not a Nick fan. Not a Nick. I pull for the Knicks. I like the Knicks to do it.
Alan Hahn
Wait,
Peter Rosenberg
that's the difference. There's a difference.
Don La Greca
I don't.
Peter Rosenberg
Big difference. If anyone said, are you a Knick fan? I'd go, no. If they said, oh, playoffs come coming
Don La Greca
up, you're going to.
Peter Rosenberg
You excited to watch the Knicks? I'd go, yeah, I am excited to watch the Knicks.
Don La Greca
The Knicks. As a Celtic fan, it shouldn't be a thing.
Alan Hahn
That's a. That, that's fraud.
Peter Rosenberg
But I mean, listen to conversation when. Listen when there's a time. And this year may be the time, you know, and when I feel like the Knicks are. I guess it happened last year. Right.
Alan Hahn
You know what, Don, do we need to intervention Plant your flag. Get integrate out. Tatum's coming back.
Peter Rosenberg
I won't do it. I won't do it.
Alan Hahn
There has to Be a choice.
Don La Greca
I believe. I believe that he is. He would plan his flag with the Celtics.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I'm not leaving. I made the choice. I'm not leaving. I'm just. I'm going to continue to be a player.
Don La Greca
There is just. There's a lot of perks to being a Knick fan or to pull for the Knicks, as Peter put it.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, listen, I. Well, I enjoy going to the games. My wife really, really. You know, she's not a big sports fan, but she really enjoys the Knicks. You know, we obviously talk about them more than any other basketball team by far. You know, my. I reached out to my good. My good friend Jamal at the New York Knicks. He's. I mean, Alan, what's. What's Jamal like the number two guy at the whole team now? I should go Jon Bon Jovi with this.
Alan Hahn
Did you just say your good friend? You would know that he's the president of the Garden.
Peter Rosenberg
That's president.
Don La Greca
Is he the number two man? I mean, is he.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, you said with the team. No, no, he. He's the. He. Yeah, no, no, he is. Ella. I'm very happy to see how he has grown and emerged at the Garden. He's one of the great people you'll know there. And he's worked his tail off from day one and. Yeah, no, no, you. He's. He's a very. He's a. He's a vip. Yeah, vip.
Don La Greca
He.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, he is, dude. He's CEO. His only boss there is Dolan.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. And when I.
Peter Rosenberg
When I met him, probably. Yeah, exactly. When I met him 15 years ago, he was a lawyer.
Alan Hahn
Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
Madison Square Garden.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, yeah, he was. And he's just been on a steady rise. Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
So maybe I'll end up, you know, becoming Jon Bon Jovi, where in 10 years I'm sitting there introducing them because.
Alan Hahn
Oh, I see what I'm saying. Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, I'm gonna pull old jbj. Jon Bon Jovi. Yeah, jbj now.
Don La Greca
You got it.
Alan Hahn
Sure.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, let's get back to your emails, folks. Send them in dhrespnmail.com Logan reaches out. He said he's been listening since Gillen Bensonhurst tries to call in, but he works nights and he loves. He said you guys do great work. Alan's an amazing addition to the show. That guy Thursday and Fraud Alert Fridays. My two favorite radio segments of all time. And it'll be an honor to hear from his honor, Judge Legreca on my case.
Alan Hahn
Okay.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm a 24 year old Yankee, Giants, LSU Rangers and Nets fan, in that order. We live in Vegas now, but my grandfather on my mother's side has lived in New York his entire life, and I was born into specifically his sports fandom. My dad is from New Zealand, but he and his family moved to Florida, Florida at a young age. They quickly grew attached to college football and became die hard Gator fans. Well before my dad met my mom.
Alan Hahn
Gator.
Peter Rosenberg
He has never wavered from this and was disgusted by my eventual choice to become an LSU fan. And while I never went there, it was part of my college planning. Just sadly didn't work out. He's a 49ers fan because of Montana and has never wavered in this either. Although when you hear because of Montana, don't sounds like you got fraud roots.
Don La Greca
It's tough. It's a tough sentence when you're defending yourself.
Peter Rosenberg
When it comes to the Dodgers and Lakers, his fanhood seems fraudulent. While he didn't have a reason to root for teams the way a lot of us do, this seems purely bandwagon esque. And his excitement isn't convincing. Here's why. He never really claimed either of these teams before 2020. Guess what? They both did then. When the Dodgers won the World Series this past season. He wasn't texting me through the whole World Series. In fact, he fell asleep during the eighth inning of game seven. Oh, my. And he isn't decrep either. He's 50. He didn't hear about the. He didn't hear about the Luca trade until a few days later, which is hilarious.
Alan Hahn
Play the music.
Don La Greca
No, no. You're taking up too much. Frauds don't get that much time.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, fraud, fraud, fraud, fraud.
Don La Greca
When it's this obvious, man. What are you doing?
Alan Hahn
Yeah, think he just wanted to hear it on the air a couple of days later.
Peter Rosenberg
He just wants to know if he should call him out or leave it alone because it's his dad. I don't think he's questioning.
Alan Hahn
No, he said his dad's 50.
Don La Greca
It's like an intervention. Yeah, we just gonna. He's gonna let it grow. Do something about it, man. Call him out.
Peter Rosenberg
And it's a great point, Alan. You just pointed that out. It's not like your dad is dear old pop and he's 83.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, he's.
Peter Rosenberg
He's four years older than me. Dude, call this guy out.
Don La Greca
Younger than two thirds of the show, right?
Alan Hahn
He has his own teeth. He has his wits about him. Call him out.
Caller/Listener
You could.
Peter Rosenberg
You could call this man, bruh. Okay?
Alan Hahn
He's younger than Don and I. Don and I should call him and rip him.
Caller/Listener
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
This new one. I know to you he's your dear old dad, but to us he's just like a 50 year old.
Don La Greca
You could still fraud. You could still love and care for him, but you know he's a fraud, man.
Alan Hahn
Oh, he's a fraud.
Caller/Listener
Fraud.
Don La Greca
I mean, couple of days it took to get Luca, dude.
Alan Hahn
I mean, are you kidding me?
Peter Rosenberg
That's pretty big news.
Alan Hahn
Everybody knew about Luca. I had people that didn't don't even follow sports asking me about Luca.
Peter Rosenberg
People who didn't even know who Luca was wanted to know about Luke.
Alan Hahn
Sports fan.
Don La Greca
High fidelity. It's like, oh, is she in a coma? It would activate want to get the I just called to say I love you.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh my God, is she in a
Don La Greca
coma like a couple of days to find that the Luke. Yeah, that's not good, man. Fraud. That was a 50 fraud. All right, the rod
Peter Rosenberg
Tommy from Baltimore sends us two situations that we can choose one. I'll choose the shorter one since I know you guys do.
Alan Hahn
Please. The shorter,
Peter Rosenberg
he said. I grew up in North Jersey and have lived in the city for a few years, but recently moved to Baltimore a year ago where my fiance's from. I'm almost 30, die hard Mets fan. I've had weekly and I've had weekday season tickets for the last five years when I first moved into the city and have kept them for when I go and for my dad to use since I first started living in the city in 21. I've had a casual birthday party at a Yankee game despite being a Mets fan. Not every year, but let's say three out of the last five potentially this year as well. I get a group of around 20 guys and girls and hit a Saturday day game in late April, take the Ford train up around 10am, hang out at Billy's or stands before heading into the game and continue the party after. It should be noted that most of my friends are Yankees fans. I'm the odd one out. I chose to do this. Yeah, I choose to do this. I choose to do this at instead of going to a Mets game because in my opinion going to the bars around Yankee Stadium is much more fun for people my age rather than going to barless Citi Field parking lot. I'm not rooting for the Yankees. I'm just getting a group of people together to enjoy a day at the ballpark. Am I a fraud?
Alan Hahn
Interesting.
Peter Rosenberg
You know what?
Don La Greca
This is not easy.
Peter Rosenberg
That's why I Want to give you a second, Don. I'm trying to stall for you because I can see the smoke coming out of your ears here. This requires a little bit of. Of time. Don't rush it.
Don La Greca
No, I. Serious, I was thinking. I knew this is where he was going, so I was thinking about it as you were giving all the deets. It is fraudulent because it's your birthday, so what do you care about what everybody else wants to do? So obviously, you're very insecure. These people are not that close to you. You need to find friends, brother, because that's your birthday. What are you catering to them for? That's like, I don't like having birthday cake, but everybody at the party likes it, so we're gonna have it. No, it's your birthday. You have what you like. You play the music that you like. You go to Citi Field. Now he brings up something interesting about the bar situation.
Alan Hahn
Okay.
Don La Greca
It's not nothing, but what was it? McFadden's. Whatever they call it now. All right? Go do something else. But Yankee Stadium. That's where you go. It sounds like he's. He's a fraud in this sense, in the human sense. What are you catering to your friends? It's your birthday. It's the one day we celebrate you, and you're catering to your friends.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don La Greca
Going to Yankee Stadium instead of Citi Field, not rooting for a team. Why is it about. It's about you, man. So this is not sports fraud. This is human fraud.
Alan Hahn
And it's also dumb.
Don La Greca
And the friends are taking advantage of you, man, because they wouldn't be good friends if they allowed this to happen.
Alan Hahn
Thank you. That's where I was going. I was like, you need new friends. Because if you're celebrating your birthday or they're celebrating your birthday for you, and they're dragging you, a Met fan, to a Yankee game. They're not really. They're using you as an excuse to go to a game. Like, that's not about. Like, you don't want to go to Met game. Come with us to the Yankee game. Like, no, no, no. It's your birthday. All right? We'll all go to your Met game. We'll go with you. We'll have a good time. That's what it's supposed to be. That's supposed to be about you.
Don La Greca
That's beyond.
Alan Hahn
That's bad friends.
Don La Greca
Because. Because what else is he caving in on?
Alan Hahn
Yeah, fair point.
Peter Rosenberg
It's a. It's a great.
Don La Greca
If you can't celebrate you on your Birthday. Then when you celebrating you man.
Alan Hahn
How about your friends don't want to celebrate you?
Don La Greca
These aren't friends. These aren't friends.
Alan Hahn
They're not friends. They're users. Next you're going to tell me you buy all the tickets.
Don La Greca
Oh my God.
Peter Rosenberg
You know what?
Alan Hahn
Imagine that would be upset. Imagine that.
Peter Rosenberg
I have a dropping.
Alan Hahn
Hey guys, I bought five tickets. I bought six tickets so we can all go. And they're like, God, this idiot.
Peter Rosenberg
I'll tell you.
Don La Greca
What's his birthday? When's his birthday? You have his email him, Peter, find out when his birthday is. Let's take him to Citi Field on his birthday. I like it. Let's take him out. We'll become his friends.
Alan Hahn
I like it.
Don La Greca
It light. Change his life forever.
Alan Hahn
I'm not even a Mets fan. I'll go now.
Peter Rosenberg
You're a fraud. All right.
Alan Hahn
That was good for fraud. No, because that's what you're supposed to do.
Peter Rosenberg
It's his birthday. Casino law. 35 years getting accident victims and Social Security disability clients. Every dollar they deserve. Offices in New York and New Jersey. 1-800- Bite back. 10024822 Dag Astino Law. Bite back.

1-800-919-3776 is of course the number to call. Ian at 6, Ty Butler at 7. Pete in Shrewsbury wants to rip into Peter. You're on ESPN New York. What do you got?
Caller/Listener
Pete, I've been meaning to call in for weeks and it just hasn't worked out. This afternoon it did. I was at Trader Joe's and walked, leaving, and there was a parking space and here I am, so. But I just, I was born on the North Shore in Massachusetts, lived there for about 14 years. First time I ever went to a baseball game was at Fenway. I'll never forget that. But then when I moved to Ohio, lived near Cincinnati and then Cleveland. So, you know, it's easy. You can go watch baseball games and not become a fan fan, you know. And what I'm saying is, you know, I lived in Massachusetts for 14 years, became a fan. When I moved to New Jersey, there were so many Yankee fans around me that I immediately started to take my side the Red Sox. And I gotta tell you, over the last 50 years, I've enjoyed it immensely because, you know, you get along with people, you know, but you're on the other side and you've got, you know, something to say. I didn't have anything to say until 2000 and you know, three for any sports up there. But although the Celtics were still there. But what I'm saying is Peter's lose, he's the loser here, okay? Because he says, well, yeah, I might be a Yank, you know, a Knick fan, but you know, I like the Celtics. Well, neither team wants you, okay? Neither. You're, you're not, you know, the Knicks aren't going to take you because, oh, I thought you were a Boston fan and the Boston's not, they're not going to take you either because they're not going to let you in the building. So I just think it's outrageous. I've been here 50 years and have never Changed my. You know, my. My faithfulness to Boston sports, and I never will.
Peter Rosenberg
But let me ask you a question here, though. You said. You said you grew up in Massachusetts, correct?
Caller/Listener
Well, 14 years. Yeah. But then I go up there a lot. I'm still, you know, my family's up there and so forth. But you're from there.
Peter Rosenberg
Your family. You're from there, and your family's from there.
Caller/Listener
Yeah, yeah, but I've been here 50 years. No, I haven't. I haven't. I don't know how you could do that. I could never change.
Peter Rosenberg
But there's a major. But there's a major p. First of all, there's two things. One, I'm not changing. I've been. I've been pushed here.
Don La Greca
And.
Peter Rosenberg
And as Don agreed with earlier, it's very clear I'm not changing or planting the flag somewhere else.
Caller/Listener
But you can't be.
Peter Rosenberg
Hold on. But again, you're. The difference here is I love the Celtics. They're a team I've rooted for my whole life, but I've always rooted for them from afar. It's never a city I've lived in once in my life. If I abandon the Redskins now, commanders, I think you'd have the right to say I'm disgusting, and no one should listen to a word that I have to say. But it is a little bit different when you get older and you're now living in a second city that you call home, and it's still not the city from which the team is. That you're. That you enjoy. So, yeah, like, I love the Celtics. I probe for the Celtics. I don't think their fans would truly really accept me anyway. I'm not from there. I've always been an outsider from outside.
Don La Greca
Here's what I would say, Pete. And we're up against it. So thanks for the phone call. That makes it different than the average person for Peter, where I will defend him.
Peter Rosenberg
Thank you.
Don La Greca
It is odd because it's a divisional opponent, and even though you don't know the rivalry the way a lot of older.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't feel the rival.
Don La Greca
You don't feel the rivalry. It's. It's still. It's odd. But the part of the equation that other people can't understand is. Is the professional aspect of it. We do talk a lot of Knicks, and you do get a chance to go to the Garden. So it kind of. There is a pull there that other people wouldn't have. You can move to New York and you'd be like, I, you know, I, I don't. I, I still hate the Knicks because they're a divisional opponent, but we talk a lot of Knicks. You, One of your co hosts works at MSG doing Nick games. You get the chance to go to the Garden because they're on our air. The show actually sees more success when the Knicks are good. So those are aspects that the average fan doesn't have to deal with. That makes it a little interesting. It's still fraudulent in a way, but nobody can compare their situation to your situation.
Peter Rosenberg
It's not the same as if I said to you guys one day, I don't know, I'm just starting to have, feel. Feel a little different about the Giants. Like, it's just not the same thing. I totally hear the point. Listen, I feel fraudulent. What, am I going to sit here and lie to you guys when I find myself pulling for the Knicks and being like, oh, man, I really want this team to do well? I feel fraudulent, so how can I argue back with someone calling me fraudulent? But. But forced to plant my flag? I'm not leaving.
Caller/Listener
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
I am staying with the leprechaun. And they may not want me anymore, and I understand, but I'm still here.
Don La Greca
You accept that, Alan?
Alan Hahn
Yeah, of course. I mean, it's not like the Wizards, the hometown team, right? This is, it's different.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, I sold them out years ago.
Don La Greca
Well, let me get started.
Alan Hahn
But, yeah, every reason to. But I, like, I was half kidding when I said we're going to make him plant his flag. But I mean, I would not expect you. When the Knicks play the Celtics in the, in the second round, you know, it's good for our business for the Knicks to win that. Right? It's better for our business. Like last year, how great was that? You know, because it just generated a lot of interest and a lot of things to talk about and a lot of excitement. But deep down, I would expect you to want the Celtics to win that.
Peter Rosenberg
You also have to remember, though, I'm. I'm also. The Celtics have been so wildly successful compared to the other teams that I root for. And again, it wasn't like that for a very long time. I mean, I became a really big fan around 87. They won their last chip in 86. So for 20 some years, 21 years or whatever it was, it was not great. But since then, since sort of the Pierce era, this has been a really good team. They've. They've put up a couple championships. They're really consistent. Like, they brought me a lot of joy. So like I wasn't sitting there weeping last year when they lost and then watching the Knicks go on a run that comes from a fan who just hasn't won very much. So they're a team that has won in my life pretty regularly. So I just didn't spend a lot of time stressing that series A. I could tell that from the beginning they did not look right in that series and I didn't think they were going on a deep run. But listen, I, I am who I am. You know, that's all I've done. That's all I can be.
Alan Hahn

Date: March 6, 2026
Hosts: Don La Greca, Alan Hahn, Peter Rosenberg
Podcast: ESPN New York
This episode dives deep into the New York Jets' quarterback conundrum for the 2026 season, spotlighting the (somewhat unenthusiastic) possibility of Carson Wentz as the next starter. The hosts break down free agent and trade options, covering the challenges the Jets face in attracting viable quarterbacks. The second half of the episode is dedicated to "Fraud Alert Friday," an interactive feature where listeners email their suspected cases of sports fandom fraudulence, prompting animated debate on loyalty, relocating fanhood, and sports peer pressure.
(00:45–13:09)
Current State of Options:
The hosts lament the Jets’ lack of appealing quarterback options. The talk centers around Carson Wentz potentially becoming the 2026 starter due to his connection to coach Frank Reich, noting other options like Kyler Murray, Malik Willis, Kirk Cousins, and Geno Smith are either landing elsewhere or off the table.
Peter Rosenberg:
"Jets fans, you deserve better than to be having a conversation about...Carson Wentz is going to be your starting quarterback. This guy is hanging on to being in the league by a thread. In fact...a thread off of Frank Reich's crusty boxers." (01:47)
Jets as 'Least Attractive Destination':
Alan cites insider Jeremy Fowler, reiterating that no big-name free agent wants to come to the Jets, likening the process to "musical chairs" where the Jets are left standing.
Alan Hahn:
"The quarterback chase in free agency will be a game of musical chairs and the Jets will be the team that does not have a chair." (02:49)
Potential Free Agency/Draft Strategy:
Alan proposes following the Giants’ recent model: signing two veteran QBs plus drafting a rookie. Geno Smith is discussed as a "bridge" starter with Wentz as Reich's system guy, with consensus that both are unexciting but pragmatic options.
Other Names:
Flacco, Jimmy Garoppolo, Kenny Pickett are all dismissed as “flotsam and jetsam” options lacking real upside.
Alan Hahn:
"This is the flotsam and jetsam you’re left with." (09:00)
(25:09–51:25)
What Makes a Fraudulent Fan:
The segment explores what defines legitimate versus “fraudulent” sports fandom: changing teams, rooting for frontrunners, and adapting allegiances after moving.
Listener Cases:
Colin’s Dilemma – New Loyalty
A North/South Carolina-native adopts Mets and Knicks fandom after moving to NY; accused of “fraud” for giving up on the Hornets.
Don La Greca:
"They moved. So what was he supposed to do?" (27:56)
Peter Rosenberg’s Take:
"There's a thing about moving to a city that becomes your permanent home…if it's like, oh yeah, I liked the Hornets, then they left. Yeah. Why wouldn't you pick up the Mets and the Knicks? You live here now. This is your home." (28:49)
Logan’s Accusation – Dad as Bandwagoner
Listener’s father starts calling himself a Dodgers and Lakers fan post-2020 titles, didn’t follow teams beforehand. Doesn’t watch the games, finds out about big trades late.
Don La Greca:
"When it's this obvious...what are you doing?" (34:24)
Alan Hahn:
"Younger than Don and I. Don and I should call him and rip him." (35:04)
Tommy’s Birthday Bash – Birthday at Yankee Stadium as a Mets Fan
Diehard Mets fan throws his own birthday parties at Yankee Stadium, citing the bar scene as more fun than Citi Field, even though he isn’t rooting for the Yanks.
Don La Greca:
"It's your birthday. What are you catering to them for? That's like, I don't like having birthday cake, but everybody at the party likes it, so we’re gonna have it. No, it’s your birthday." (37:34)
Alan Hahn:
"They're not friends. They're users. Next, you're gonna tell me you buy all the tickets." (39:32)
Peter’s Fence-Sitting Fandom
Recurring debate: Can Peter be a Celtics (lifelong) and a Knicks supporter (due to living and working in NY media)?
Peter Rosenberg:
"I'm not changing or planting the flag somewhere else...I love the Celtics. They're a team I've rooted for my whole life, but I've always rooted for them from afar. It's never a city I've lived in once in my life." (47:01)
Don La Greca:
"It's still fraudulent in a way, but nobody can compare their situation to your situation." (48:53)
(16:34–22:05)
Hasty breakdown of major NHL deadline moves and strong opinions on the league’s playoff format, particularly how top teams face each other too early.
Don vents about teams like Colorado, Dallas, and Minnesota battling it out in early rounds, blaming the NHL’s bracket obsession.
Don La Greca:
"We're gonna take either the second or fourth best team in the league and boot him out of the first round so some yo-yo in Nebraska can have fun. That's what you porn's for." (17:59)
"Musical chairs and the Jets will be the team that does not have a chair."
– Alan Hahn, on the Jets' free agency situation (02:49)
"This guy is hanging on to being in the league by a thread. In fact, it's less than a thread. It's a thread off of Frank Reich's crusty boxers."
– Peter Rosenberg, on Carson Wentz (01:47)
"It's not sports fraud. This is human fraud."
– Don La Greca, admonishing a listener for putting friends' fun over his own fandom on his birthday (38:33)
"You're a fraud. Good for fraud. No, because that's what you’re supposed to do."
– Peter Rosenberg and Alan Hahn, riffing on birthday party loyalty (40:08)
"When it's this obvious, man. What are you doing?"
– Don La Greca, ruling on the bandwagon fan father case (34:24)
"Younger than Don and I. Don and I should call him and rip him."
– Alan Hahn, on the 50-year-old “fraud” dad (35:04)
"You accept that, Alan? ...Yeah, of course. I mean, it's not like the Wizards, the hometown team, right? This is different."
– Alan Hahn, on Peter’s complicated Celtics/Knicks rooting (49:33)
The conversation is fast-paced, candid, and peppered with the trio's trademark humor, sarcasm, and blunt New York sports talk. The hosts riff with each other and the audience, fostering a spirited—and self-deprecating—debate on what it means to be a “true fan” and the unending headaches of rooting for troubled franchises.
