Don Hahn
Don't get the exact time. Yeah, 5:03 in the big city.
Peter Rosenberg
Alan, you want to give a shot? It's 504 now though.
Don Hahn
Sitting it. Sit. You stink.
Alan Hahn
I'm good.
Don Hahn
True.
Peter Rosenberg
Don, you've ignited a conversation and it's going to have to continue into the five o' clock hour.
Alan Hahn
I love this.
Peter Rosenberg
Are you guys comfortable? Alan, you want to just keep rolling with this?
Alan Hahn
I. This. I think we have done really good sports talk radio the last two days. Yeah, this has really been special. And this conversation is, is. Is a thread on a sweater. I love this. So yes, Donna, you could. Are you good with it?
Don Hahn
Yeah, it's how I feel. And again, don't take fraud too personally.
Peter Rosenberg
Right. That's also part of it. I was a fraud. I was a fraud in some ways. I grew up loving Georgetown, went to Maryland immediately became a Maryland fan. Never really thought much about Georgetown again.
Don Hahn
Hey, some of my best friends, like Dave Rothenberg, huge Georgetown fan, they wouldn't have him.
Peter Rosenberg
Complete fraud. Now. Now you would also agree, for the record, in terms of degrees of fraudulence, Dave's much more severe. Growing up in the D.C. area and rooting for Georgetown makes some semblance of sense. It's a big team down there. They played at the Capitol center. You know what I mean? Like it was. And by the way, and the pro teams, the Bullets. So you don't have a pro team. You basically don't have a pro team. So it was Georgetown in the years.
Don Hahn
Big personalities and stuff.
Peter Rosenberg
Johnson, John Thompson. That's coach. You just called him coach.
Alan Hahn
Yep.
Peter Rosenberg
Listen to him on the radio every day.
Don Hahn
I get it. But like when you celebrate All I'm saying is, is the weirdness of it, like the analogy that I gave about storming the field or the court after a big win. When, when you're pro at Georgetown, you.
Peter Rosenberg
Stormed the Capitol after a big win.
Don Hahn
If you always. If you're a Giant fan, they get a big win. They got the parade, whatever. You're all celebrating together, right? Generations of giant fans all getting together. One no better than the other in the eyes of the Lord. All right, that's how I describe it. But Georgetown wins the national championship, you're going to feel like you belong among alum and students and, you know, professors there that are all, like, invested in the thing. Aren't you going to feel. Aren't you going to feel less than that?
Peter Rosenberg
See, that's a really interesting point. As a little kid. No, I wouldn't have.
Alan Hahn
No, not as.
Don Hahn
Because you can't. Because you're young, you're not eligible.
Peter Rosenberg
But as a 25 year old who would have already graduated from Maryland.
Don Hahn
Yeah. And that and that.
Peter Rosenberg
And like, that's the Ballard point. For example, I get why Ballard loved Michigan growing up, but once you go to Vanilla, no fun. I'm sorry. Villanova.
Alan Hahn
Wow.
Peter Rosenberg
Once you go to Villanova, that's when.
Don Hahn
Or I would just think. I would think it would go away.
Peter Rosenberg
Because at that point, if Michigan wins and you're celebrating people. Oh, you went here and you're 38. You go. No, no, I went to Villanova. Well, what are you doing here? It just, it gets. You can now listen. Michigan's playing in the final and Villanova was in the nit. They're an afterthought.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, sure.
Peter Rosenberg
You have every right to say I'm pulling for Michigan, no problem. But, but, but dressing up in the gear and like, that's where.
Don Hahn
That's our point. I would have to. The callers said that he loved St. John's loved them as much as he did the professional teams in New York. He wasn't good enough to play at St. John's went to a Division 3 school. I would think he'd lose the passion for St. John's as he started playing college someplace else. I'm not saying you don't love him anymore or hate them or not watch them, but I would think you would lose a little. You got to at least give me. It's different than rooting for the pro teams, isn't it?
Alan Hahn
That was my experience, Don.
Don Hahn
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
I grew up. I was a St. John's fan. I went to games as a kid. I went to Alumni Hall. I had a relative who did go to St. John, so that also was a part of the attraction. But it was all about, you know, those really good teams in the 80s and how special it was and how they could sell out the Garden. I loved all that stuff, and I wanted to be a walk on at St. John's I wasn't good enough to be recruited, but I wanted to be a walk on. Parents couldn't afford it, so, you know, I had to. I had to get a scholarship somehow, and the only thing I could do was Division 2. So once I played college basketball, I stopped watching St. John's as a. Like, a fan and rooting and all that stuff. And once that was over with, I really never did reconnect the same way I did when I was, you know, 12 years old and 14 years old and, you know, going to games because it was fun and they were St. John's like, I just. That never came back. So what you're saying happened to me. It didn't happen to Andrew for Andrew. He always kept it. For me, it slipped away.
Don Hahn
But that's what I would ask. If you're celebrating with a bunch of students and alumni, wouldn't you. Wouldn't it feel a little off?
Alan Hahn
Like, especially if you played somewhere else, right?
Don Hahn
You played somewhere else. Like, as a player, you're like, I guess that's the best way I could describe it. Doesn't make you a bad guy. I don't even know. Fraud's the right word for it.
Alan Hahn
Not a bad guy.
Don Hahn
It just. It just. I would feel like, do I really belong here? We're all gathered. We're all partying. A bunch of guys that went to school. Hey, what are you. Oh, I'm 76. Oh, I'm 84. You know, I'm 92. Where'd you go? I. I didn't. I didn't go to St. John's I. I went to Ramapo. Oh, okay. And wouldn't you feel like, all right, now everybody's kind of turned their back on you? They're starting to talk amongst each other, and then you feel like, all right, I'm gonna finish my beer.
Alan Hahn
He's not one of us. Yeah.
Don Hahn
And, you know, maybe that's wrong. I'm just telling you my personal. I would feel like I didn't belong.
Alan Hahn
How do I do this now? Because my school is Long Island University. C.W. post, which was Division 2. That's the Long island campus. Liu was Brooklyn, always in Brooklyn. They have since merged into one sports entity. It. So the all the post history is gone. It doesn't exist anymore. And I am an alum of liu, but, like, the Sharks are the team. And Anthony enjoyed a nice win by Fordham over my Sharks because we couldn't make a three. But you see what I'm doing there? I'm saying we because it's the only connection I have. I am an alum, but I didn't play for the Division one program. But the Division one doesn't exist anymore. What do I do there? Is that my team or not?
Don Hahn
I know it's weird because I had a similar. There was actual conversation, like, 20 years ago after I'd long graduated from college. I don't know if it ever really came close, but there was talk that Rutgers was going to take over all of the Jersey State schools. So it would be Rutgers at Ramapo, Rutgers at William Patterson, Rutgers at Glassboro, like that kind of thing.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don Hahn
And I was thinking, would I be able to declare myself a Rutgers alum if they did that? I probably try, but then somebody would say, oh, when'd you graduate? Oh, that was bad. I graduated in 92. Well, that was before the. Get out of here kid.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. Yeah.
Don Hahn
I don't.
Alan Hahn
So I do feel like a fraud. Like I'm. They have me around. I try to do a lot of things with the Roc Nation school. I love being part of it. Right from the broadcasting side of things. But I do have this fraudulent feel because, like, I'm a pioneer. I wasn't a Shark. I wasn't a Blackbird. I was a pioneer. Like, that doesn't exist. It was erased from the record. It doesn't exist anymore. And so part of me, it's like I feel like. Like I was like. Like my parents got. Like my. One of my parents got married and I'm now in that family. But I'm not really a full, like, sibling with the other kids. Like, it feels weird to me.
Peter Rosenberg
Let's go to Antonio in Tampa, who has a question. Hey, Antonio.
Caller
Hey. Thank you for taking my call, by the way. Slow down. I was wondering. I grew up idolizing Reggie Bush. I was from the Tri State area though all my teams. I'm a Yankees, Rangers, Knicks and Eagles fan. I actually want to bring that up quick too. In a sec. But so I kept on being a UFC fan to this day. I'm 29 years old now, so I was about 6 to 8 or so. Maybe a little older than that. Around the years that Reggie Bush was. I felt like he was our generation's kind of like steph almost where it was like just, you know, superstar.
Alan Hahn
Right.
Caller
I was wondering what would you. What is your take on staying with the childhood fandom players? Because I was gonna say I'm New York everything else, but I'm an Eagle fan because of Donovan McNabb, because he was a lot more cool to watch. And Kerry Collins.
Don Hahn
It sounds like you're motivated by. Because why didn't you become a Saints fan after Bush left USC and went to New Orleans?
Caller
It was easier to root for, or I guess it is easier to root for players specifically in the league rather than the whole team. Like, I could want Reggie Bush to have a good performance against the Eagles, for example, but I'd still want them to win.
Don Hahn
I just think you're more motivated by play. Like, you're not a fan of ufc, just like Reggie Bush. You're not. You don't like the Eagles. You just like Donovan McNabb. And I, I don't relate. I listen. I had favorite players, but that's not what motivated me to be to root for my favorite team.
Peter Rosenberg
So, yeah, I was always able to. It's interesting. I loved players. I love teams. At certain times, my favorite player in a sport would be on my team. At other times, I might not have like that player on my team who I was obsessed with. So I'd enjoy a player on another team, but it would never make me root for that team. Like, I loved Iverson on the Sixers. I never rooted for the Sixers.
Alan Hahn
No.
Peter Rosenberg
And I just wanted to watch Iverson play.
Don Hahn
I loved Barry Sanders. I never became a Lions fan, but I did enjoy watching him play. Now it's different with trucks. You could have a favorite truck and not necessarily get your gas at Hess per se. Right. So the Hess truck is back. And it's better than that. Two racers, one amazing holiday gift. The 2025 Stock Car Racers are loaded with action packed features including 67 animated lights, five realistic sounds, and a pullback motor. Available exclusively at Hess toytruck.com for 49.99 with free standard shipping and batteries included.
Peter Rosenberg
You're very good.
Alan Hahn
That was an effort, I'll give you that.
Peter Rosenberg
No, he nailed it. He knows.
Don Hahn
An effort.
Alan Hahn
I think I have a box of Hess trucks in the attic somewhere that Zach used to have. I gotta go find them now.
Peter Rosenberg
Steve in the car. You've been on hold for a while to talk about tool tickets.
Don Hahn
Really? Oh, Tavern and Fellas.
Peter Rosenberg
Hey, Steve.
Don Hahn
Yeah. You were just, you know, you talking earlier about some of the. The concert tickets that you guys have given away in the past and, and how the bands aren't all that great. But I did actually win Tool tickets from you guys.
Caller
And, and the pinhead suit.
Don Hahn
When he, he sent me the email, I will say he sounded like he.
Caller
Had half an idea of who Tool was when.
Don Hahn
When I. When I did win him.
Jeffrey
And then I. I went, I talked.
Don Hahn
To my buddy and Peter, to your point about how these bands are not all that great, he thought I said, hey, you want to go see Tool? I won the tickets and he gave me the Michael K. Okay, yeah, I'll play along. You know, like, this is. This has got to be a gag or something. But, you know, you guys do give away some good, Some good stuff. I won Seinfeld tickets, by the way.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't want to disrespect Tool. I'm not saying the bands aren't good. I'm just saying they're random. They're just a little random.
Don Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
That's all.
Don Hahn
I do love Tool.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't. I don't. You know Tool very well. Toolbox secure. No, that's not.
Don Hahn
You never heard sober. They have a lot of really good stuff.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm sure. I know one of the big, you know, some of the big stuff. Let's go to Charles in Jersey. Hey, Charles.
Caller
Hey, how's it going, guys?
Peter Rosenberg
Good, man.
Caller
I really do appreciate taking my call.
Peter Rosenberg
Thanks, man.
Caller
Yeah. Listen, Don, I don't think you really understand what you did tonight with this. With this conversation.
Alan Hahn
Okay?
Caller
It's a real full circle moment for me. Just going back to how I became a fan of you and this entire station, to be honest. And this time, spot in particular with the okay show. You guys had a conversation long ago. You know, this was back when I risen up. I was in, you know, I went to, you know, Hudson County College, you know, no team. No team to speak of, by the way.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay?
Caller
And you, you guys were. You guys were wagging on, you know, God, that I didn't even know who it was about being a fan of Georgetown and not actually going there. And, you know, it turns out that that's Dave Rothenberg. And it was just, you know, just hilarious to me how you guys would just, you know, have the conversation with you and Michael and how, you know, how great you guys were on the radio, and it truly made me a fan of you. And I've been listening ever since, you know, honestly, to you guys, the station from Hot and Humpty, everything. So, you know, just really been a full circle moment for me. And I just needed to get that out.
Don Hahn
Oh, man, that's cool.
Caller
It was really, really great to hear that, you know. Yeah, this is really great to, you know, that conversation get brought up.
Don Hahn
We do sometimes research, recycle material, but we got a different host here in Allen and.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, no, no, our topics come back around because human beings do talk about. This is an interest point for you. You've always felt strongly about the college fanship. I think there's a certain part of it's on brand with your fraudulence talk. There's also a certain part of not relating to it because, like, you know, you went to Ramapo, you didn't have like one particular college around you that would have made sense to root for, I guess, Rutgers. Like, you're a Jersey guy. You come to Jersey.
Don Hahn
Like, I'd like to see them do well. I'll root for them when they're on. And again, I know Carlin and I know Reco does the basketball. It's all root for them. But here's the equivalent that nobody wants to say. This is the dirty little secret.
Peter Rosenberg
Go ahead.
Don Hahn
We wouldn't have this conversation if we're talking about the Scranton Yankees or the Somerset Patriots.
Alan Hahn
Right.
Don Hahn
Or the Binghamton Rumble ponies, whatever, like minor league baseball. Will we have that conversation? We be. Alan will be talking about the Westchester Knicks.
Alan Hahn
As far as what being a fan.
Don Hahn
That's what college is. College. I know they're getting paid now, but it's minor league.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don Hahn
Minor league basketball.
Alan Hahn
Right.
Don Hahn
So I know it's. And listen, it's very popular and you got the tournament and everything else. But you could argue if you're Nick, if you're a nick fan and St. John's fan, you are. You are rooting for the lower level.
Alan Hahn
But you could argue that where college sports is today with nil, with the portal, with the ability to bounce around, that it really is professional at Jays.
Peter Rosenberg
True.
Alan Hahn
But their connection to the school is basically in a name and a logo. And saying they're student athletes is hysterical.
Don Hahn
But the idea is I root for a college because I went there or my son goes there or my daughter goes there. You're not rooting passionately for minor league baseball or minor league hockey teams. Why? Because it's a lower level.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don Hahn
Now college basketball is a lot more popular, but the popularity comes from people went to that school. Yeah. Nobody went to Somerset Patriots. You weren't a Patriot, but you were a Johnny.
Alan Hahn
But I will argue though that there are just regionally around the schools, even though some people didn't go and maybe some people didn't have the education to go or the money to go, but they still are fans because regionally, that school was bigger than any other thing going on in town or in the state. Like, if you're in Alabama. If you're in.
Don Hahn
But I'm not. I mean.
Alan Hahn
No, no, you're not. We're in New York. Yeah. Where you have professional. You have options at professional level. But think of some of the schools that are. That's the professional team in Iowa. What do you got in Iowa other than Iowa or Iowa State?
Don Hahn
I would not get on somebody who grew up in Alabama that, you know, Roll Tide and never went there.
Alan Hahn
Okay.
Don Hahn
As much as, like, in New York, where all our sports are represented professionally. Right. That. I guess that's what made that. I guess. So you need to make that clear.
Alan Hahn
To a lot of people that are. That would make the argument of you can't be like. You mean if you're in a major metropolitan area that has professional sports. Right. That the idea of you being a fan of a college team somewhere else makes no sense.
Don Hahn
It would be odd to sit here and, you know, I'm. I'm. I'm a big giant Nick Ranger and Somerset Patriot fan. Right. What's the difference? I know one's more popular than the other, but one of the reasons it's more popular is because people go to that school and that's why they root for it.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, but.
Don Hahn
But when you really look at it, technically, I mean, I'm not. I'm not trying to devalue college basketball or college football, but you are watching a lower level.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, No, I completely understand. I'm just looking at it as. Some of these schools are basically like, keep towns alive and all that stuff. So that's why you have.
Don Hahn
And I don't know. I. I'll be. I don't know if I'd have this opinion if I lived in Mississippi or Alabama, Arkansas, something like that. Because you would. Yeah. There is no professional.
Alan Hahn
If you lived in an SEC region, there's just no chance you would have this opinion. Just. By the way, because you brought it up. Whose. Rutgers playing this weekend? Ohio State, number one. Do you know what the spread is in this game?
Don Hahn
It's got to be, what, 45.
Alan Hahn
45 is a little high. Peter, you want to guess?
Peter Rosenberg
Give me. Give me 29 and a half.
Alan Hahn
All right, that's too low.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, 35.
Alan Hahn
32 and a half.
Peter Rosenberg
Wow.
Alan Hahn
32. And for the.
Peter Rosenberg
For the record, that is part of what you just said, is part of why no. No matter how much the beginning of the year I say I'm going to get into college football, this is why I don't do it.
Alan Hahn
You know this is a conference game.
Don Hahn
By the way, right?
Peter Rosenberg
That's a conference game. It's not just that. These things are even better.
Alan Hahn
ESPN analytics to win matchup predictor Rutgers 3.1% chance and they're by the way, they're a plus 3500. Would you.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, I mean why not? It's. It's 10 bucks or do it but.
Don Hahn
I could drag it drop. But it's not bad enough out of my pocket tonight.
Peter Rosenberg
It's not. It's not bad enough that the first half of the college season you just have weeks where teams are playing Mount Saint Mary's and are favored by 70 because they, they sit set their own schedule, right? But then you get late in the year and you have conference games with 32 point spreads. That is, I'm just. I know how big it is to our company. I know how big it is to America. If I am sitting around board in a hotel room, Don, like you on a Saturday night and I see football playing in the game's close. I'm going to watch overall though. Overall, I just want to say again, I'm good.
Don Hahn
I'm good.
Alan Hahn
But it pains noon on Fox everybody.
Don Hahn
That on November I get to watch.
Alan Hahn
Portnoy for it first.
Don Hahn
Oh, but I can live with week zero, right the other Saturday before labor.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, yeah, because your football horny at that point.
Don Hahn
Nebraska takes on Pacific and the spreads 32 and a half. Sure, but when it's November 22nd and it's a conference game and you're 32 and a half points.
Peter Rosenberg
What are we doing?
Don Hahn
Sad.
Peter Rosenberg
What are we doing, man?
Don Hahn
But, but Rutgers, all they have to do even if they get their heads handed to him, which they will Tomorrow lose by 30 if they can win at home against Penn State and Penn State hasn't won a conference game and they just fire, they could get a bowl game. All right.
Peter Rosenberg
And now point number two. And then Don makes point number two of why I hate college football. You could lose by 50 this week. In fact, it's likely. But if you win a yo yo game the next week, you get a bowl game. What does the ball game mean? Nothing. They'll play the pinstripe sponsors get money, school gets money, whatever.
Don Hahn
Yeah, they will pay at the pop or I don't know how you pronounce it. I always said poinsettia, but some people say poinsettia bowl, Something like that.
Alan Hahn
It's poinsettia.
Don Hahn
I always said poinsettia. But you do hear poinsettia.
Alan Hahn
Who says poinsettia?
Don Hahn
Highbrow, yo. Or maybe they're doing it right. You've never heard poinsettia?
Peter Rosenberg
I don't know if I have. I know one thing. Texas a and M minus 54 and a half this weekend against Samford. Georgia minus 43 and a half against Charlotte. Real quick, just for fun, Anthony. Oh, and they don't have Moneyline. Huh? Moneyline's locked on those, I'm guessing. How would you do?
Don Hahn
What would you give the Hope diamond? Like what, what do you, what would you offer people on the money line when you're getting 43 and a half points?
Peter Rosenberg
If you pick Sanford and they win, they dig up the corpse of Michael Jackson's monkey Bubbles and deliver it to your house.
Alan Hahn
Right?
Don Hahn
And do what you want with it. Hang on.
Alan Hahn
By the way, poinsettia is blamed on New Yorkers.
Don Hahn
Really?
Alan Hahn
That everywhere else it said, it's. It said poinsettia.
Don Hahn
Alabama 50 and a half, eastern Illinois.
Peter Rosenberg

Don Hahn
I enjoy it.
Caller
I don't know how.
Peter Rosenberg
Is it a tool vehicle?
Don Hahn
Also, this is.
Alan Hahn
I like this. Not a big tool fan, but I like this.
Don Hahn
But this hasn't nearly kicked in. He picked a tough song. Because we could be here.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. Once it get. Once it hits though, it's definitely good. It takes a minute. Takes a minute.
Don Hahn
There he goes. But it'll really kick in. They got a whole song about California sinking into the Pacific Ocean. If that's something to float your boat.
Peter Rosenberg
Pun intended.
Alan Hahn
I like your play on words there.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, a lot there.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don Hahn
Showers and tidal waves followed by fault lines that cannot sit still followed by millions of dumbfounded dip. You know, some say the end is near. Some say we'll see Armageddon soon. I certainly hope we will.
Alan Hahn
So uplifting.
Don Hahn
She could have used a vacation from this. Basically Just telling people to live in California, learn to swim because he's hoping that the whole state watch out to the Pacific Ocean. Well, before I'm a fan though of the state. I don't know why they went that far.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, listen, maybe had a different experience. Let's go to our friend Felicia and M. I. Crooked letter. I. Crooked letter, crooked letter. I. P. P. I.
Don Hahn
No. Humpback. Humpback.
Felicia
Hey, guys.
Peter Rosenberg
Hi.
Felicia
Hey, I've got a couple of quick points if you let me with. The main reason I called was Don, you gotta.
Alan Hahn
You got.
Felicia
You already ruled on it. But I had a totally different perspective before I moved to Mississippi about college football. I'm still not really a big fan, but I have of course, tons of friends and my in laws are, you know, massive fans. They tailgate and some of them went there, some of them didn't. Like Ole Miss, you know, it's just different because there's no professional sports whatsoever around us. I mean, we have the Grizzlies, so we don't have, you know, there's the Titans, but nobody really roots them, to be honest, in Mississippi. So that was kind of my point. But I know you hit on it like right after Anthony got me on hold. But real quick, I was trying to get through the last two days. I had a really funny story about the Winnipeg Jets. So that was funny to me. So we went to my best friend and I went to the jets game in against the Titans last year and there was like a whole section of people in Winnipeg jets gear.
Don Hahn
Really.
Felicia
I really wanted to go say something to them and like did. Are they from Winnipeg? And just like, we're like, cool, the jets are here and we'll go support our team too. I don't know, maybe they're from. It was just weird. I wanted to say something to them, but it just. I never had the opportunity and didn't want to be.
Don Hahn
I'd love to know the origin story, you know, that it just. You know what it sounds like just a bunch of people being that guy.
Alan Hahn
Well, you know, that's, that's the whole. That's the whole New York radio thing. Right? When the, when the Winnipeg jets come to town, did they go hang out with the Jets? When the San Francisco Giants come to town, did they hang out with the Giants?
Don Hahn
Yes, that's.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, that's an old thing. So maybe it's become a real thing.
Felicia
Maybe, but just kind of funny because they're. They're such an obscure team. It was the immediate team I thought of even as such A big hockey fan as my team that I forget about. And then just last thing. I know you guys got other people on hold, but I just want to say, go, Islanders. I'm just. I'm so feeling this team.
Alan Hahn
Like, what a road, Felicia. What a road trip that was. 6 and 1 6.
Don Hahn
That's not nothing, man. Beat the Rangers, Beat the Devils. The only team you lost to is Colorado, and they've only lost one game in regulation.
Alan Hahn
And that was a hell of a.
Don Hahn
Game, and that was a really good game.
Alan Hahn
You didn't embarrass yourself. Yeah, no. They're on the right track, which is really good to see. And you got to give credit to Matthew Darsh, obviously, but. But also what Patrick was done. You know, they've had to really get a lot of those veterans back on track. He did. And then you can't argue with the fact that Schaefer's really been a force multiplier.
Don Hahn
All right.
Peter Rosenberg
New drink again. Don, you know what?
Alan Hahn
The drink. Second time. I did that on purpose, but it's been all.
Peter Rosenberg
It's been picking up all week, Don.
Alan Hahn
But you know what it does, though, Peter? What it does tells me you're listening. That's what it tells me.
Peter Rosenberg
If you don't know, once I perk up. What's the other one? What are the. Can someone please. Blood in the ground is big.
Don Hahn
Plant flag.
Peter Rosenberg
Plant your flag.
Alan Hahn
Said plant your flag since we started.
Don Hahn
But that's a. That's a you thing.
Alan Hahn
That was years ago.
Peter Rosenberg
Blood in the ground almost replaces plant your flag. Because they're similar.
Alan Hahn
Yep.
Don Hahn
Yes, they're related.
Peter Rosenberg
Force multipliers. New. But there's another one. If you can remember other Alanisms, please, please let us know. We got to get the drinking game going here.
Alan Hahn
I would love to get a drinking game going. What would you like? What's the choice?
Peter Rosenberg
What do you mean?
Alan Hahn
I've got. I've got several behind me. So we could just pick.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, fire it up, baby.
Alan Hahn
Tully, do we've done those reads? I have that.
Peter Rosenberg
Are you trying to say it's 5:34 and it's telly time?
Alan Hahn
I mean, could be.
Don Hahn
Is it legal? We have to ask the fcc. Allen's home. If we played a drinking game and he just got hammered on the air at home.
Peter Rosenberg
Legal. I think it's completely legal. He's not functioning.
Alan Hahn
The radio station also have bodega cat. We could get some of this going.
Peter Rosenberg
I tried the bodega cat recently.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, you have some of that.
Peter Rosenberg
It was nice.
Don Hahn
Do you have plans tonight? True.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, but none of your business.
Don Hahn
Oh, okay.
Alan Hahn
Well, then there's no games for me to go to tonight, so.
Don Hahn
Nice lives. Yeah, I don't know anything about what you're saying.
Alan Hahn
You've lost them little Phil's pizza tonight and then just chill.
Don Hahn
Right, Phil?
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, the old Phil's pizza and chill. Yeah, yeah, I know that one. Seen that move before.
Alan Hahn
Those pizza is the spot in, say, awesome. Shouting them out.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, let's. Let's.
Don Hahn
Oh, you're hitting the spot tonight.
Alan Hahn
Oh, yeah.
Don Hahn
More that mattress man.
Alan Hahn
Hope so.
Peter Rosenberg
Let's go to Jeffrey and Irvington. Hey, Jeffrey.
Jeffrey
What's up, Peter, how are you?
Peter Rosenberg
Hey, buddy.
Jeffrey
All right, so I think I might have a good claim for this argument here. So for backstory, 25 from New York went to St. John's lived here my whole life. You know, Dad's from here, my mom is not. But I'm like, big time Notre Dame football fan. Wanted to go there. Is like my dream school undergrad. Did not end up applying. Got denied from some other schools. I was like, I don't want to waste more money on these applications. And So I went St. John's three years down the line. You know, did decent in college. Grades were a little bit better than high school. I'm like, you know what, Let me give it a chance. I have some friends that were out there. Let's see what happens. So went through the process and I did end up getting in for grad school. Didn't ultimately end up going. Was way too much money for the one year. So I just ended up doing the fifth year at St. John's but was a diehard fan. Probably from, I don't know, 10, 11 years old. Still am to this day. And I'd say the reason, obviously we have, as Don mentioned, you know, all the sports here in New York, but have college football around here. None of the, you know, I guess the close would be Syracuse or Rutgers. You know, never was a big fan, so that was kind of how the fandom started for me. And, you know, still to this day, I am not a Notre Dame basketball fan. To be clear, you know, big time Johnny's fan. Watch all 35, 40 games and watching every one of them. But for football, I do still watch all the Notre Dame games and big fan on that end.
Don Hahn
All right, so I'll ask you if you went to a Notre Dame game.
Alan Hahn
Yes.
Don Hahn
And you're sitting in the student section and all the fans are excited. They have a big upset win over Ohio State. Saying you charge the fee. Wouldn't you feel out of place? You didn't go there. Like, when you're talking and hanging out and celebrating with fans, like, wouldn't you feel like out of place when they ask, oh, when did you graduate? What year did you graduate? And you're like, no, I didn't graduate. I'm just a fan. Like, wouldn't you feel a little out of place?
Jeffrey
Yeah, that I would definitely agree there. So I have been out, I think like three or four times. Have been to a game there. I was here at a game here when they played, I think was at Yankee Stadium. So I had been to a couple games and the game I was in at South Bend, I did sit in the student section with the friend of mine. And yeah, no, I think I would definitely feel a little fraudulent on that front. But I would say the fandom is not of like, you know, casual, hey.
Don Hahn
Listen, have at it. You know, I'm just saying it just feels a bit odd. And now St. John's doesn't have anything, you know, football to root for, but it just feels. It just feels a lot. And he just admitted that if he's hanging out with a bunch of people and they're all celebrating a win and he's the only non student, he'd feel out of place. You would never feel out of place, guys, if at a Yankee World Series championship rally, you know what would make you feel out of place? Like, how long you been a fan? And you say, oh, two years, right, when everybody turned their back on. Doesn't have that kind of same feel. Like, oh, when did you graduate? Well, what did you study? I went to St. John's okay, thanks.
Peter Rosenberg
Did you see Steve Hart texted us. Don wanted you and I to know that he's been to many, many concerts over the years. Yes, but Tool is the one concert he almost walked out of. I'll be honest, the one thing I miss about having an office is the taste of Steve Hart's nuts. He didn't explain. He said he explained to us later in further detail. So you can wait for that with abated breath.
Don Hahn
Thanks. I just. I had heard that their lead singer was a Mainer. I can't think of his last. Sometimes he's got his back to the audience. They are. They're a very strange breed. So I've never seen them.
Peter Rosenberg
Ballard texted me and said tool is like the best rock band of the, as he put it, current rock band. Is that a thing? Do people think have that as Tool that highly rated?
Alan Hahn
They're very popular. I don't know if I agree with it, but they. They are. They have a huge following, so.
Peter Rosenberg
Time flies.
Don Hahn
How.
Peter Rosenberg
When did tool come out? Mid-90s.
Don Hahn
Yeah. I want to say to mid-90s.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Don Hahn
Toolbox secure.
Peter Rosenberg
Phil in Brooklyn. What's up, Phil?
Jeffrey
What's up, guys?
Caller
I think you are a fraud.
Jeffrey
If you root for another college and.
Caller
Say you went to college. A, you're gonna root for college.
Alan Hahn
B, I think you're a weirdo.
Commercial Voice
You.
Don Hahn
You just. You're a weirdo. And you.
Jeffrey
And honestly, you poke your pants.
Don Hahn
Wow.
Peter Rosenberg
Wait, what was the last one? And you pooped.
Don Hahn
And you pooped your pants.
Alan Hahn
And you're high.
Don Hahn
Or high. We'll accept either one soft serve. I don't think we've ever had consecutive days of talking about that.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, I assume that's what he was referring to.
Don Hahn
Yes, he was. Now, I'm not going to say weirdo. I'm just saying it's a little. It's just a little bit. Just me. Listen, these are my rules. Obviously, I'm in the minority. A lot of people root for teams that they didn't go to. That school just seems a bit odd. And I think you guys agree with me.
Peter Rosenberg
I think there's times where it makes sense, but very often it doesn't. I'll say that. You know what I mean?
Don Hahn
It's not fair.
Peter Rosenberg
Anthony in Valhalla. Hey, Anthony.
Caller
Hey, what's going on, guys? I love your show. Just gotta say that I've been listening to you ever since I graduated big commuting. So thanks for always making me laugh. I am a die hard Tar Heels fan. Never went there. And I'm also a New York jets fan. So both my parents went to unc. That's where they met. And then my sister was a cheerleader there. So I got to go to so many amazing football and basketball games and at the exact same time, I'm a die hard jets fan. I've always hated the New England Patriots growing up in Connecticut. And now Bill Belichick is my head coach at unc and it's just terrible.
Alan Hahn
Well, your parents went there, your sister went there. Yeah.
Don Hahn
So there's a little bit more of a connection.
Alan Hahn
But you chose not to go there.
Peter Rosenberg
And Drake Mays, quarterback of the Patriots.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
This is a great.
Caller
I know. It drives me crazy. Trust me. So I kind of like you. I wanted to play football, but I wasn't big enough. So I played D3.
Alan Hahn
Okay.
Caller
And had a great career. I loved it. Like, don't regret it at all. But still am A diehard Tar Heels fan to the point where my parents are flying right now to North Carolina to go to the UFC Duke football game this weekend.
Peter Rosenberg
So, like, we're die hard Tar Heel fans. I want to get Don's thoughts on this now. So, Don, this is. It's really you type, Alan, you talk about blood in the ground.
Alan Hahn
Yep.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, there's blood. There's blood in the ground. There's other secretions. I mean, the whole pregnancy, everything happened right there.
Alan Hahn
Okay.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, even beyond that. So he's alive because North Carolina existed. His sister's a cheerleader. He goes to the games. He goes to a D3 school for football, but it's not a team you're gonna root for your whole life. How do you. How do you rule on this, Don?
Don Hahn
I would rule. It's. It's cool. It makes sense. Because this makes sense. You've got family there.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, right.
Don Hahn
So you didn't go there, but your family went there. Your sister went there. Your sister was a cheerleader. Of course you're gonna go support her family.
Peter Rosenberg
Right?
Don Hahn
So that's that. There's a little bit more of an association there than just, oh, I like the colors, or, that team's really good. I'm gonna. Or I made a ton of money on FanDuel with them, so I'm gonna root for him.
Peter Rosenberg
And this is. See, this is what makes Don such a benevolent and omnipotent judge. You know what I mean? He doesn't just stick with his, you know, you're willing to bend given the information that you're presented.
Don Hahn
See, all I'm asking for. We're gonna continue fraud Friday.
Peter Rosenberg
I'd like to.
Don Hahn
Information is king. I need as much information as possible.
Peter Rosenberg
But in as short as email possible.
Don Hahn
Yeah, maybe it's better if we just get calls on it, because then we can have the dialogue, the back and forth. Imagine defending yourself via email.
Peter Rosenberg
And imagine some of our callers, though, if you're asking them to explain their whole fanship. You think the emails are long?
Don Hahn
Yeah, especially since they'd be Holly.
Peter Rosenberg
Although. How about this? If. How about this? Don wants all the information, but if you look at your email and it's like five paragraphs, it's a great opportunity to use Chat GPT and just you put in the whole email summarization. You say, hey, chatgpt, can you convey all of the major points of this email while shortening? It'll do a great job for you.

Peter Rosenberg
What's the game called?
Don Hahn
Football.
Alan Hahn
These are the Don Hahn and Rosenberg pro picks.
Don Hahn
Dance football.
Peter Rosenberg
I guess we should do them.
Don Hahn
What's that?
Peter Rosenberg
The picks.
Don Hahn
Hey, I got. I got a chance to get above 500. I'd like that opportunity, please, if you don't mind.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, no problem.
Felicia
Ambassador Johnson.
Peter Rosenberg
Don is in the lead. He's 16 and 17. It's like, it's almost respectable. He has 29 points. He was two and one last week. Allen is 12 and 21. 24 points, one and two last week. Myself, Peter Rosenberg. People are going to think I was on steroids in past seasons. That's how bad this season is. I'm 9 and 24. 19 points over three again last week. I think it could be like my. That might have been like my fourth over three of the year.
Alan Hahn
This is the kid slide, huh?
Don Hahn
Don had it when he had the twins.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, that's right.
Don Hahn
Yeah, the kid slide. Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
It is the first season after the kid. That is. That is a thing.
Alan Hahn
What did John Smith point total again?
Peter Rosenberg
29. Don's only as bad as Allen is. Don's only five up on him. And as bad as I am, Allen's only five up on me.
Alan Hahn
Yep.
Peter Rosenberg
So it's still open. But I mean, Alan and I are pure hot trash. And me. It's just unbelievable how bad it is.
Alan Hahn
We should all be proud is what you're saying.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Oh, totally.
Alan Hahn
At least it's still competitive. That's all I can.
Peter Rosenberg
You got that part. No. And Don, listen, there's a lot of games left. Like Don could finish seriously in the black here. Like there's plenty of time for Don.
Alan Hahn
Of course. Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
I cannot.
Alan Hahn
I'm running out of time.
Peter Rosenberg
I cannot get above 500 and Alan can basically not get above 500.
Don Hahn
Speaking of running out of time.
Peter Rosenberg
Sorry, Go ahead.
Don Hahn
Yeah, we should get to it. Go ahead.
Alan Hahn
How about it?
Don Hahn
My one point play, It's a hefty number, but I think Seattle bounces back. I think Sam Darnold bounces back after his miserable performance against the Rams. And this is a law of averages game for me. Tight have covered back to back games for the first time since 2023. You really think they're going to cover three in a row? The numbers 13 again, it's hefty. That's why I'm only going with it as my one point play. But I like Seattle to get right in Tennessee and cover the 13. It is still less than two touchdowns by the way. My two point play I'm going to go to Sunday night. The Buccaneers are at the Rams. Rams are a hefty 7 point point favorite at home. But Tampa Bay is 8 and 2 against the spread after a loss. I like Tampa to bounce back. I'm not sure they're gonna win the game in la, but I think they'll cover the number. I think we're gonna get a really good game on Sunday night. I like the buccaneers as my 2.12 point.
Peter Rosenberg
Play.
Don Hahn
MI 3 point play. Bears are a 2 1/2 point favorite at home against the Steelers. Rogers is questionable for the game and The Steelers are 1 and 5 in their last six road games against the spread. I like the Bears to put a hurting on the Steelers and really affect their chances of winning that division. I still think Baltimore is going to win it and I like the Bears. It's under three so I like the Bears to cover the number as my 3, 33 point play.
Peter Rosenberg
Bad news for you buddy.
Don Hahn
I've got the Seahawks minus 13 is my one, I got the Bucks getting seven as my two and I got the Bears minus two and a half as my three, three three point play.
Peter Rosenberg
Bad, bad news for you Don.
Alan Hahn
I like it.
Don Hahn
Don.
Alan Hahn
I was looking at Seattle, I wanted to dabble there but I stayed away. I'm glad I did now. One point play. I got to do it even though it's gonna. It's gonna make me sick, but I have to do it. And I like the Eagles Cowboys game and the three and a half point spread there in favor of the Eagles on the road. But we got to keep in mind Dallas is a different team at home. Dak doesn't lose division games at home. I like this pick and so I'm taking the Cowboys and I'll take that three and a half points for my one point play. On the next play it's another one of these. You can't kill them. You can't kill them until they're dead. They got to be buried and they're not buried yet. And so while they still have a chance, I have to believe in the Chiefs. Especially at Arrowhead. They are home. They're laying three and a half. Daniel Jones has been really good, very immaculate with the ball in the first eight games. Last two games, four interceptions. Is he starting to turn into a pumpkin? We're going to find out in this game. Give me the Chiefs. I'll lay the points. That's my two point play. Last but not least. Listen, if I'm going to be devoted to one player, if I am going to have an affinity for this one player, if I'm going to have a true belief in this guy, I got to put my money where my mouth is and everywhere else. So I've got to believe in Shador Sin.
Don Hahn
I'm going emotional on my three point.
Alan Hahn
Play and I know this is not what you're supposed to do.
Don Hahn
But I'm doing it because I got to put it on the table.
Alan Hahn
I gotta lay it there. And I gotta say I believe in Shador Sanders.
Don Hahn
Wow.
Alan Hahn
Because I'll take three and a half points, I'll go to Vegas and because I got Miles Garrett on the other side. And I know Geno Smith, when he sees Miles Garrett's going to go, oh my God. Because we have the drop that proves that when he sees somebody coming to kill him, he just throws the ball on the ground. Give me Shador Sanders with a dub. Give me the Browns of my three point play.
Don Hahn
Peter, this stinks.
Peter Rosenberg
No, it's, it's. It's basically it's. It's.
Don Hahn
It's for all the wrong reasons.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, it's just all the.
Alan Hahn
It's the right way. It's going the wrong way for the right reason.
Don Hahn
It's the.
Peter Rosenberg
It may last for like 20 years. This show goes on like an incredible 20 year run that like Allen and Pix jumped the shark in year one. It's that. It's that kind of moment going with Shadow.
Alan Hahn
Wait a minute. But Don. Peter, this is what you're supposed to do, aren't you? When you put everything you have behind a player and you believe in the player, you got to show it.
Don Hahn
Think about what you did.
Jeffrey
I think you got to take money.
Don Hahn
Line on the side. Think about what you did.
Alan Hahn
I know what I did.
Don Hahn
A three point play.
Peter Rosenberg
Three.
Don Hahn
All of it.
Peter Rosenberg
You should love it, Don. This is the kind of nonsense you enjoy.
Don Hahn
This, this is where. This is where Allen taps out. This. This was the, the negative turning point on his season.
Alan Hahn
This is.
Don Hahn
Yeah, this, this is.
Alan Hahn
I'm 12 and 20. You know what this is? I think we're long past.
Don Hahn
This is the avalanche goal. 30 seconds after the Rangers tied it last night. That. That's what, that's what happened here, right, Anthony? This is. This is the turning point. You look at that and you say the. Where did it all go wrong?
Jeffrey
And you say you really hope that's.
Don Hahn
Not where it happened. And that's exactly where it happened. Just think about it. Say it. Say it out loud with me, Alan. My three point play is the Cleveland Browns.
Alan Hahn
333-33. I'm going right off the cliff.
Don Hahn
The last time anybody send out our prayers was the quarterback.
Alan Hahn
I got the stick. It's right into the accelerator. I'm not even driving anymore. I'm just sitting there. I'm going right off the cliff. I love it. I want this because it's gonna be glorious if it happens.
Peter Rosenberg
If it doesn't, who cares?
Alan Hahn
I'm already done.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, listen, I got flaming out as it is. I got bad news for everybody.
Alan Hahn
What is that?
Peter Rosenberg
And that means that is that you both share picks with me.
Don Hahn
Oh no.
Peter Rosenberg
So that's not very good.
Don Hahn
Well, it's not good for you considering you want to make up ground.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, no. It's not good for you because it means you're getting your game wrong. Oh well, that's the, that's. That's the concern.
Don Hahn
What do you got hunting?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, I'll start out with the ones I have in common with you guys. I have the Bears. The Bears are my two point play. I liked them last week. Didn't do it. They have just been showing consistently. They're winning close games. Think the Steelers are upside down going the wrong way that places. Do you guys realize what a Soldier Field is going to be like on Sunday? It's going to be rocking. They believe in this team. It's a short number. Rogers has the wrist situation. We don't know if he'll play. Give me the Bears. It's actually my two point play because I'm doing my in common picks first. Allen, we're in lockstep on this one. They're not dead and they're at home and the Colts on the road not buying it. I'm still with the Chiefs. My three point play.
Don Hahn
Wow.
Peter Rosenberg
I know I normally do not love. I normally don't like throwing the the Chiefs with a number but man three and a half is. That's a baby number. They got this little 710 point win for the Chiefs to stay alive at home over the Colts. Give me that as my three point play and a spot for a team they need to keep winning. They struggled a bit last week on the road but I like them this week at home when JJ McCarthy has to go play at Lambeau. Give me the pack minus six to get a nice easy win this week as they try to stay on top and battle with Detroit and Chicago in the north. That's my one point play. Packers for one, Bears for two, Chiefs for three.
Don Hahn
There we go. All right.
Alan Hahn
All right. Well, here we are and Don again trying to get to 500 and me going with the Browns as a three point play. I understand. I'm probably going to take a bath. I probably am. And if I do it better be in a nice brand new clean bathtub. You know what I mean? Because bath fitter is exactly where you want to go. If you have a dirty, disgusting bathroom and you're embarrassed by it and you want to get it, you want to upgrade it. I did. I had actually an old bath ripped out, put in a new shower. Peter Rosenberg

Theme: Navigating College Sports Fandom vs. Alumnus Status & NFL Weekly Picks
Hour 3 dives deep into the nuanced debate of what makes “legitimate” college sports fandom—do you need to have attended or graduated from a college to be a true fan of their teams? This lively debate draws in callers, personal anecdotes, and the classic question: is it “fraudulent” to cheer for a college team if you're not an alum? The hour wraps with NFL picks, as the hosts bemoan and celebrate their records and gut-based betting strategies.
