B
That sounds like heaven to me. Listen live weekday afternoon starting at 3.
A
On 880 ESPN, the ESPN New York app and your smart speakers.
C
What's the game called? Football.
A
These are the Don Hahn and Rosenberg pro picks.
B
That's football. It is. And it's time for the picks.
C
Well, who should go first?
B
Because it's the first week of the season here, guys.
A
So do you want. Well, they want the rookie to go first.
C
Oh, I feel like Don. I feel like Don's already up 3 0. He should go first.
B
Yeah, maybe just because I only got the two finishes I have to make. So I'll finish my picks.
A
Oh, we're not doing our. Our cover five. We're not doing all five. We're just gonna do the three.
B
No, we're just gonna do. Well, three.
A
I think you should name all five. And say what your point out.
C
You can name all five.
A
All right.
B
All right. But I'm gonna have to go back.
A
Don's not prepared.
C
Yeah, that's Alan. You're prepared.
A
I'm prepared.
C
All right, let Alan go. But Alan, hit your big three first. And then just a. Oh, you.
A
I was gonna do those last. I was gonna give you the first two and then the three that I, that I used.
C
Oh, okay. You know what? That works too.
A
That works. Okay. All right, so I'm of the five games on the COVID five that, that we are doing. I am gonna work tonight's game and I'm gonna take the Chiefs and lay the three and a half. I like that game a lot. And I also like the fact that Kansas City has won 17 straight games decided by one possession. And this is probably going to be a close game to well coached teams. So I'm going there the next game. I'm also going to take. This is now on Sunday. I'm taking the Bengals and I'm going to take lay the five and a half over Cleveland. Yes, I know the Bengals are notoriously bad starters and it's a road game. But Joe Burrow hasn't been good to start seasons either. He knows all this he's got a different kind of swagger to him right now and the Browns are a disaster. I'm taking now my one point game. I take the Patriots and I'm laying the two and a half over the Raiders. It's now mayday in Boston. Boys. They love this kid. This is a variable and Pete Carroll to warhorse coaches defensive minded. This should be a competitive game. Close game. I'll take the home team to cover the spread. My two point game Broncos and I'll lay that eight and a half against the Titans because this defense has a lot of hype. They think this team's gonna be great and they're going up against a rookie number one pick quarterback. That's a nightmare. By the way, quarterbacks taking number one overall are 415 and one in their season openers as a rookie. So. And then my three point play is also my survivor pick of the week. Arizona laying six and a half over the ain't Saints are usually good in home openers but again this is not your father's Saints. The terrible they're oh and seven when Derek Carr didn't start last season. And guess what? Derek Carr is not starting anymore because he's not playing football anymore. Spencer Rattler is 06 as an NFL starter. Say no more. Kyler Murray's fantasy gold. But the question is going to be can he lead this Cardinals team to a playoffs? I think it starts on that game. And that's my three pointer and my Survivor pick of the week.
B
33333.
C
Look at this guy.
B
Look at this guy that's confident. He did it with confidence.
A
Say with your chest.
C
He got right into it. He said it with his chest. He meant it. Don, you ready? You want to go last now since you didn't go first, whatever you want.
A
You ain't first.
B
I want to go last.
C
He wants to go last. So without. Without any further ado, let me get you right into my big. My big cover five which we hope you go sign up and see what we're doing here. I think you're gonna enjoy the. The COVID 5 situation.
A
DHR25.
C
That's the code D. DHR25. Thank you very much.
A
We did and we're there now.
C
We did tell you that. I did tell you all week. I'm not interested in. In betting Washington with the points as one of my picks. But when you force me to get five, all right, I'll throw them in as one of my five. Give me the commies minus the six and a half I don't love it. But if this is a year when they're special guys, and I kind of believe it is, maybe it's a year when they finally do things like beat the Giants by more than six and a half points. So I'll roll the dice with the commies there and I will also go with Baltimore to beat Bufalo. I'm comfortable getting the one and a half at Buffalo. The Ravens owe the Bills one and I'll take Lamar Jackson in an opener to start. He doesn't finish strong these these Ravens, but they seem to start strong. So give me the ravines now for my actual picks that count with some meaning and some merit. Give me the Dolphins at Indianapolis -1½. It is a filthy, dirty, nasty, repulsive game if we're being completely honest, but I do not expect anything from this Colts team. I think Daniel Jones could be okay, maybe a slight improvement from where he was last year, but I'm expecting a bit of a bounce back from the Dolphins this year with a healthy Tua Tang of Loa to start the season running like crazy on the turf in Indy. Give me the Dolphins minus one and a half for my one point play. For my two point play, I gotta go with the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. I know, I know a little risky, but they're a home team in this game and they're getting some points. Never love the Vikings on the road and for some reason, I don't know why, the couple of years now of building, I think we're finally getting to the place where the Bears take that step forward. I don't think they'll be great, but I think they could win an opener with Caleb Williams at the helm Monday night. Make it my two point play and this one will not make Ballard happy. We're going to disagree and I actually have his picks as well if anyone's interested. No, I'm going my Lions on the road. They're getting one and a half points and I know when the Lions get away from home, oh blah blah blah. And I know everyone's so high. Micah Parsons going to show up and rec shop and the packers are winning the Super Bowl. Give me the team that's been dominant all over the NFC for the last couple of years. The Lions is my three three point play. Getting one and a half in Green Bay. One, two, three point play.

C
Now. Don, have you figured out your app yet?
B
Yes, I have figured it all out and and it was as I remembered it, my two that are not going to be part of my week that were part of the COVID 5. And by the way, download the app, get involved. You have until you know kickoff of the games to be able to get this done. But I got the jets and the Giants. I'm gonna go with the locals. It's interesting, even after Tucker's injury the line didn't move it. State still stayed at two and a half. It doesn't make sense you would figure well Rogers got a chip on his shoulder and the jets can't protect the quarterback. That line is still something about it Peter just bugs me. So I'm still I'm go with the jets covering the two and a half and I got the Giants too. They played the Commanders very well twice last year and again the line didn't move with the possibility of Thomas not being in. So I get it under a touchdown jets and the Giants. Now for our picks. I've already got the win with the Cowboys and the eight and a half so I was able to pick up the victory there. So that was my three point play. So now my one point play play. I'm going to go with the Broncos cover in the eight and a half. It's a hefty number. But the game is in Denver and in the draft era, quarterbacks taken first overall in their debut are 415. 1 and it's a difficult place to play. I think the Broncos are a playoff team. It's a large number, but I think the Broncos will take care of business. That'll be my one point play and my two point play. They had a disastrous season last year. Nothing went Cincinnati's way.
C
Oh, Cincinnati.
B
It's five and a half and the Browns have lost six straight games against the spread. It's the longest active streak in the NFL. So I like the Bengals. It's five and a half. I think they cover that number on the road. And that's my two point play. So I already got my three with the Cowboys. My one point plays. The Broncos a eight and a half point favorite and I am going to going to take the Bengals as a five and a half point favorite in Cleveland against the Browns as my two, two, two point play.
C
One, two, three point play.
A
So we're, we're, we're matched up here.
B
Yeah, we are.
A
You and I are shoulder to shoulder. We use the same stat too.
B
That's it.
A
That rookie quarterback stat really got a lot of mileage.
B
Yeah, it got a lot of mileage.
A
So.
B
So Denver's your two or Denver's your one.
A
Oh, that's your.
B
Cincinnati's my two.
A
Okay.
B
A little bit of a different day. So. Yeah, we're looking at the. Who's going to dress as a clown this year. Now normally our picks will be at 5, 45 every day, but we wanted to do it at the tail end of the ENN which was moved to 5 because of the baseball of it all with the Mets and the reds beginning at 6:00'. Clock. So good job guys. Good luck.
C
Should be a lot. Listen, week one is. Listen, I know you don. You think I'm always pulling things out of my. You know what.
B
Yeah.
C
Now in week one, I really am.
B
Honestly. No, honestly, everybody basing it on. Yeah, because you're, you have to be basing it on last year and there's so much turnover from last year. You can't base it off the preseason. You just got to go off feel. And the only feel you're going to have is what these teams did last year. But a lot of these games have guys that weren't even on the team last year.
A
Right.
B
You know, so you're kind of just guessing and you probably guess for the first few weeks and then we'll get it figured Out.
A
And then Peter Don speaking with so much comfort because he already has the three points in his pocket.
B
It does feel great.
A
He already knows he's ahead of the game.
B
The Getting the three on Thursday is a good feel.
C
Yeah, it's. Honestly, it's one of the great feelings in the world. Men of a certain age, it's basically as good as it gets. Now, I didn't give you guys my survivor pick.
B
No. And I didn't get mine either.
A
Yeah. What do you got?
C
I'll give you mine first. I. This wasn't yours. No, I love Denver. I just. Listen, I feel like Denver is the kind of team that's going to be pretty good. I don't love them the way some people do, but this week, Tennessee in Denver. Yeah. Give me a rookie quarterback going up in the air now.
A
I'm good. Give me that.
B
And if I'm taking Denver favorite, eight and a half. That is my survivor pick as well, the Denver Broncos. But, you know, for all the reasons you said, plus I don't know how. How much of an appetite I'm going to have to pick Denver deep into the. You know, so that. So I'm good with. Even if I win, I'm good with losing Denver early here. So.
A
Sure, yeah, they're gonna be good, man. And that defense, like, that's why they're not.
B
Are they Raven good? Are they Bills good? Are they Chiefs good?
A
Look where they're. They're super bowl odds, man.
C
I know. People are people. They're one of those teams, Don. There's a certain level of just lazy. Let's be honest. It's like the 49ers having the exact same odds as the commanders. There are certain teams with a pedigree, and I respect their pedigree. Where they show you a little something, Don, people put in. Right. Super bowl mix.
A
Well, I mean, it's very comparable to your commanders. I mean, Denver last year showed you with that defense, and Sean Payton's got them right like that. That team is going to be formidable. I mean, they do play in probably, what, one of the toughest, if not the toughest divisions.
B
Yeah.
A
And when you think about it, if Bo Nix, who showed you a little something last year, can just be capable, they don't need him to be great. They got a great chance. Good.
B
Place the greats on the table, and I think he can get there. But the problem, it's the same thing analyzing Rogers making a run with the Jets a couple of years ago, is that, look at the quarterbacks. You're going to have to get through.
A
Right.
B
You know, Allen hasn't been able to break through yet. Jackson hasn't been able to break through yet. Bo Nixes.
C
Yeah, I know that. That's exactly it.
B
So.
C
But listen, they could have a good year and the defense is very good. But listen, I love them, so this is a good week for them, in my opinion.
A
I love the commanders. I just don't. I don't want to pick jets or Giants games if I don't have to because, like, I don't think it's necessary.
C
Like the commanders with the number.
A
I like the commanders in that six. So I like that for you. There's a lot there to think about. So how big is the Tunsil pickup? When you consider what the Giants have in their like the three dude murderers that they're going to be running at your quarterback like that.
C
Maybe it's, it's maybe the most underrated move of the off season. You have a quarterback you're desperate to protect and you have a run game you need to build.
A
Yes. And what Debo can do.
C
Why not?
A
And what Debo can do that goes beyond a guy that runs routes. So you add that to the. There's that matchup is going to be. The line of scrimmage in that game is going to be so compelling.
B
Well, yeah. And you're getting it under a touchdown.
A
Oh, yeah.
C
So listen, if you remove the fact that the Giants always play the commanders close, I see why everyone on TV picked the commanders. It should be a good game for them. But we know this team. We know what they're like in Washington. You know how many terrible Giants commanders games I've seen in person in Washington? There's just something weird about these two teams now.
A
Jet Steelers, I'd stay far away from.
B
Yeah, I just kind of went. Peter will tell you that sometimes I'm a big believer and when it doesn't make sense that kind of you go, go that way because Vegas seems to know better. Like how it, how is it only two and a half? Well, with everybody just talking up, you know, Rogers with the chip on his shoulder, he's going to come. He wants to light the jets up. And Barrett Tucker's out for the year. There's going to be half the buildings will be rooting for the Steelers and yet the line's still only two and a half.
C
So which way did you go again?
B
I went Jets.
A
He took the Jets. I, I see, I see.
C
It's, it's, it's sometimes hard to read what that stink means because sometimes, Alan, it means the opposite. It's that because Pittsburgh's going by 90 I it sometimes I feel like they're sending you the wrong way.
A
I understand. Yeah, I don't think it's going to be that. I'm wondering, I'm trying to figure out how the jets going to score. That's all I'm wondering, how are they going to score?
B
Well, it just comes down to does Rogers have anything left and will he be a little rusty? Here's a big step, but you know, Fields is on a new team too, but he's not going to be asked to do that much.
A
But here's the difference and this will be something to watch early number of snaps the Steelers ones on offense have taken together in the preseason.
B
Like zero is zero. Yeah. And that's where that rust could come in.
A
Right?
B
For sure. That's why it's so difficult to pick Week one, because I'm sure that's not the only team that had like very little to none of the ones working together outside of practice. A
Hi, good evening.
B
This is for Alan. I owe you guys a bit of an apology. Oh, no. Last week I called. Who am I to say how a guy should root for his favorite team? What did you say? I really apologize and I hope Alan roots for his favorite team.
A
Yeah.
B
Oh, with the Yankees, you were getting on.
A
Yeah, I appreciate that. Neil, Neil, Neil was saying, good. I only look for, like, I, I want to see it. I'm trying to remember how you worded it, but it was basically that, yeah, yeah, I only care if they win and everything else doesn't matter. All that stuff and sure, sure. The amount of years that I've been following this team, I think is getting to me. That's probably a bit of the problem.
B
Yeah, let's just get behind them now. They, they, they took two out of three from a big Nemes last week and you know, earlier this week.
A
No, no, Houston. Let's get to Harman last night. That win last night was, was, that was ballsy. Like, like that was not easy. And it went down to the wire. That was a huge home run by Grish. But tonight's lineup, Neil, Don, this might be their best lineup and this might be the playoff lineup. Well, especially his catching. Right. You got Jazz is in the line of Goldschmid at first. McMahon no Volpe, by the way. Caballero at short. Like this, this, you know, judge out in right field. So Stanton's in a lineup at DH like this, this might be their best lineup.
B
Yeah. And it needs to be because now it's on you. Now Toronto, it's just, you know, battling for first place. Last chance for you to be able to gain ground directly with them. And you're coming off taking two out of three from Houston. Let's see what they can do. Let's go to Aiden in Colorado. You're on the ESPN New York. Hey, guys. Don, I called a couple weeks ago when you and Pat were talking about what kind of record you could expect from the Giants starting the season off. And I still just feel totally pessimistic about it. You know, chocolate soft serve, maybe zero and four. I was just wondering if you have, you know, a last minute pep talk so that I don't feel totally miserable Sunday morning when I wake up to watch. Well, the Pep talk is, is that I think the future is good with Dart.
A
Right.
B
So if they do start oh, and four, well, then that's a quicker entrance, you would think, for. For Dart to get a chance to play. If they're owing four, that means not only did they lose the first three, but then they lost to the Chargers, too. And now you're. You're taking on the Saints. To me, Alan, if the quarterback play is poor with Wilson, they lose their first four. A home game against the Saints looks like a really good time to bring Dart in.
A
Yeah.
B
If you think he's ready.
A
Yeah, it's. It certainly does. So I think it all depends on the offensive line and whether or not you feel comfortable putting a rookie out there. If Andrew Thomas can get himself healthy and feeling good, which. That's why I wouldn't rush him back, I think to me, that's the most important part of this decision, I think.
B
And listen, I might be talking out of my rear end. I get it because I've been so pessimistic about the team, but I'm trying to be hopeful. I think they get at least one in these first three. You know, maybe. Maybe you catch Washington, you were good against them last year. You're a better team now than you were last year. Maybe you catch Washington sleeping a bit. Dallas, although I was impressed with them last night, they're not world beaters.
A
Their defense is. You can beat them, you know, so.
B
Kansas City, that's going to be tough.
A
Yeah.
B
But I think you could be one and two going to the Charger game with a chance of being two and two. And then obviously people will be looking for you to go three and two if you beat the Saints.
A
Yeah, but Don, again, you. What you're asking for, even just to get one win, it's a lot. Again, Dallas is gettable, but you're on the road and they already have a loss. And their offense, their offense is good. This, this commander's team, there's no way I don't see a win here, man.
B
Just the only thing you see is that the defense can get some turnovers. That's the one thing. The defense was good.
A
That's true.
B
They didn't get turnovers. If this defense is going to be special, they're going to have to get turnovers.
A
Yes.
B
Change field position. Give your offense a chance to score on a short field. These are the things they're going to need to do. I'm looking forward to it. Monday's going to be gargantuan.
A
Yes.
B
Because we're going to have not just the football, but the baseball weekend to recap as well.
A
