Listen live weekday afternoon starting at 3 on 880 ESPN, the ESPN New York app and your smart speakers 501 the big city Don Hahn and Rosenberg taking up until 7 o' clock. Then Pat O' Keefe for an hour leading into Mets Rockies coverage. So we mentioned this all kind of happened on the air yesterday. Michael wants to go to the Met Nationals game on Thursday. Rick and Dave have a great thing. I just read the promo before we went to break. They're going to be at Publicans in Manhasset from 6 to 10 doing their show. Then they're going to hop on the old for Mets and Nationals. They're going to be in the parking lot there hanging out with all the fans and Michael's gonna go because why? Well, the reason why is, is apparently Peter, Michael and Met fans are not on the greatest terms. I don't know what's going on here. Well, here's the and I wasn't gonna say anything about I heard a little bit. I heard about it was about a week ago Michael was calling them moths or fleas or something wacky like that's, you know, Michael has these meltdowns because two people on Twitter rip him and he goes nuts. But apparently he had another meltdown yesterday, unbeknownst to us. Otherwise we probably would have brought it up with him when we had him on the air at five o' clock. But then awful announcing had this huge article about Michael going after Met fans. And I read the article and I'm and I'm like, do we have any of this audio? And because we're really good at what we do here is Michael K Yesterday going right up and in on the Met fans. If I was so wrong about what I said. Juan Soto has spoken to the media at least 100 times since then and not once, as he said, that's not true. Not once. I was in Anaheim to do the Yankee series. I ran into Scott Boris twice. I have a good relationship with Scott Boris. Not once Did Scott Boris say, hey, that thing that you said, that's not true. Not once. Didn't bring it up. The little gnats that for some reason I live rent free in their mind or. Well, Cage has made that up, you know, because his radio show failed. That's why they took him off the radio show. And he needs to get clicks. Well, you simpletons, that's not the case at all. My radio show didn't fail. It was a rousing success. And as I said over and over and over again, to the point now that I'm getting annoyed at you people, if I wanted to stay, I would have. And I didn't stay because I wanted to have a little bit more of a life at the age of 64 where I could spend time with my wife and kids more. I wonder if the people that say stuff like this are embarrassed by their stupidity. Can they look in the mirror with their tongue hanging out, breathing up against the window at their visage and be proud of themselves? Or do they realize that they are lying punks that are just saying stuff in order to fit their narrative? That Juan Soto really, really, really been happy all year and Kay was wrong. K's not wrong. Now, to get more specific on what he talked about at the Open there after the Met Yankee series. Remember, Michael said he got to the ballpark early on that Saturday afternoon game. Oh, yeah. 30. Talk to some people. And what he was able to get from the Met people was that he's glum. That was the word. That he was glum. And he mentioned that on the air that Monday. And Met fans went after him saying he's making it up, he's trying to cause trouble or whatever. And apparently this now has continued two weeks. That was like two weeks ago. And yet. And apparently it's still happening. And so now Michael wants to go to Citi Field to confront, I guess, these fans to see if they're gonna put their money where their mouth is, which hopefully will have a little security there, because you never know. But good on Michael to at least answer the critics, I guess. But let me ask you, Peter, you're a sane person. From what I've been able to gather in the decade that I've known you, if I went after Yankee fans or if I said something about the Yankees, you don't think Yankee fans would come after me? Peter, you've said things about everything. And the people that disagree usually don't retort in a polite manner. Correct? That's usually correct. I don't get a lot of social media. Don, I agree to disagree. No, I get a lot of. I hope you get Lou Gehrig's disease. That's what I get on social media, because that's what. So I swear to God, I got that. That's a tough one, that. But that is that social media. So if I were to go after Michael, I would say, what are you doing? Well, how do you expect Met fans to respond? You're the Yankee announcer that has negative news about a Met. You don't think you're going to get some sort of a negative response? The thing I take exception to is why you think any other fan base would react differently. Do you think if Gary Cohen did a show on this radio station, of course, the voice of the Mets on sny, or if Harry Rose did a show. Let's say part of the deal with doing the Met games is he did a show and he had the exact same information about a Yankee. How do you think Yankee fans would respond? Peter, how do you think that they would respond to Gary and Howie? I think not great. Okay, If Bob was shoes and did a show, go ahead on our air, which I think would be a very good idea. He's an outstanding talk show host, big fan, and he had some inside information about the Giants. How do you think Giant fans will respond? Well, again, my guess would be not great. Right. So I'm a little surprised. I'm not surprised. I know the man. I work with him for 22 years, so this doesn't surprise me in the slightest. But what I would say to Michael, this is the world we live in. Why does it bother you? It's social media. And I would expect at Citi Field on Thursday that the Met fans that run into Michael are going to be cordial. They're going to shake his hand, they're going to high five, they're going to take pictures, they're going to ask for autographs, and they're going to talk baseball with you. So I don't know why he gets so upset after all of these years and, you know, to call them fleas. How do you think they're going to. How do you think Met fans are going to take being called fleas? I know he's talking to the people that went after him, Peter. I know, but. But, you know, the awful announcing article is talking. You know, actually the person, um, somebody tweeted me. I didn't see it. I think awful announcing does a great job. I just didn't happen to see the article, but somebody tweeted me Called attention to the article. And unfortunately I'm. I'm not going to hold up. Oh, it's a Christian Scott fanboy. Don Legca, your boy just called a bunch of Met fans fleas. This is akin to Evan Neal stuff. I'm expecting the same outrage from you. Well, don't tell me how to respond. I'm not talking about that part. But the assume. By the way, that's not even near the same thing. But the. But the point is, is that calling a bunch of Met fans fleas. Because that's the way it's gonna be taken. Nobody is gonna take the deep dive that he's calling the people that went after him fleas. The way it's gonna age, the way it's gonna be reported, the general outline is gonna be, he's calling Met fans fleas. So don't. Don't be bothered by these people because now you're gonna get suckered into these calling Met fans. He's not calling Met fans fleas. He's calling the Met fans that go after him on social media fleas. But do you see how it gets taken Peter out of context? So I don't want Michael to not answer. He's not calling Met fans fleas. And I just wish Michael would let this stuff go. I know it makes for interesting radio and all that stuff, but. Dude, don't bother. How do you think any fan base is good? You think Met fans are any different than any other fan base on social media? But here's the thing, Dom. You and I worked with the man for a very long time. Yes. I regularly wax poetic about what makes him one of the great sports talk show hosts of all time. Right. I think I'm very forthcoming about how talented, immensely great I think he is. And in fact, I did it earlier today about how his ability to be vulnerable and crazy and sometimes translucently thin skinned can be really good. Right? But I'm gonna also now say a criticism of Michael that I think is shared by other people who love him. When he gets offended or bothered by people in the public going for him and he then responds he is not doing himself any service. He. The way that he has a tendency to fight back against either fans or critics who call him out for something that he thinks is false or actually is false, usually I think, Don, he ends up digging a bigger hole almost every time he finds a way to, like, say things that give credence to things that they shouldn't even give credence to. Basically, he knows what he was saying was Factual. And then he's getting called out for by people who don't know anything. All you can say is, hey, I get it. You're a big fan. You know, maybe you can even talk a little trash. You sound like a fanboy who doesn't want to believe the truth. I have no reason to bring this up. I'm not trying to hate on the Mets. I'm not trying to hate on Juan Soto. I air on my radio shows on the station of the Mets. I love for the Mets to be good. This is just what I heard. But instead, Donnie ends up getting super personal. It never comes off great, but I just wanted to take the second to say, don't read into all the things that are being said. Like, again, mesmerized online, Michael K. Talking about Met fans. He's not talking about Met fans. He's talking about the Met fans that are killing him. But you see how it ages to see how it gets taken out of context. So I just wanted to tell that people look so good nobody reads anymore. Peter, everybody reacts to the headline. Athletes react to the headline, right? Nobody take oh, that's all social media is. There is an article again, mesmerized online or mesmerized online, Michael K. Talking about Met fans. I don't let fleas go on my back. Go on the back of lions and you're all fleas. What a bunch of clowns. Nitwit clowns. And then you can hit the picture of Michael from a few years ago and go to the article. What percentage of people that look at that tweet are going to go to the article? 5% to 10. 90% are going to react to what is a misleading headline. And they're going to. There's a quote and the quotes accurate, but it's not giving you the context of the fact he's going after the people that are going after him. So he has been sucked into a wormhole he doesn't deserve to be in. He's not going after Met fans. He's going after the Met fans going after him. But unfortunately, now the cat's out of the bag. Forget it. Good luck getting it back in. You get troll. It's naked troll. There was a moth in my bedroom last night. Do you know what I did? I got it in a cup, opened the door and sent it flying out of the house. Could have killed it. I decided to put it in a cup. While I was doing that, I wasn't screaming at the moth how worthless it is, how much better I am than the moth is. I just took them off and threw it out of the mouth. If they're actual fleas, ignore them, delete them. Send them on their way, put them in a cup and throw them out the front door. What a. What a point. You're a moth. I'm Don Lagreca. I'm your human being. You're a moth. You're worthless. You're just. I could care. I care nothing about your opinion. Well, that's the kind of thing he would do, though. That's what I mean. He would drive me nuts because he'd be screaming out of his mind, I don't care. And he wouldn't see the irony. Like, for example, Don, I make bad decisions and I get into it with mouth breathers all the time. The only difference is I don't turn around and pretend I don't care. I'll tell. I'm sensitive. I care. Now get ready because I'll get sucked into it. I'm sure there's gonna probably be some article. Don legreca goes after his former co host on his show. Because it's all. Just read the article, people and all. I'm just saying. So you gotta be careful. But. And I hope that moth is doing well as it's moved on to its life outside of the Lagreca home. Yeah, good. Good for that moth, by the way. I just didn't want the karma, I guess. Even worse, Don Lagreca hates moths. We don't want to see that. Oh boy. You know what? Moths are harmless, but there is something about that, that it's almost like a bird. Like they could be big enough. Like when they're in the house and they're going off the light, you just. You're. It's the only insect, I guess, outside of the buzzing of a bee. Like you hear. Like, is there a bird now? So it's a moth. Like these things are. Yeah, it's. But I didn't berate the moth. It's not his fault or hers that it's a moth. 1-800-919-3776 how about Tessa and Wes Caldwell's got a fraud question on herself. You're on. Crazy. I love it. Thanks for taking my call. I appreciate it. So I just have a question about. I know I'm not a fraud, but yesterday they said I was. So I got invited, got some colleagues to go to a sports bar to watch the game yesterday. And you know, the last games I wore, you know, my Lakers stuff. But you know, from afar, I guess it looked almost like, you know, Indiana colors or whatever. I don't know. So I didn't want to go through that this time. So what I said was, I'm still a New York fan, and I love basketball. I got a scholarship for basketball. I love basketball. So what I did was I wore my all blue. Like, it was all blue, like, Giants blue, you know, And I had a New York Yankees baseball cap on. And then I just had, like, a little, like, orange bracelet on. Because my friend, who's, like, still in agony, who's a Knicks fan, you know, it's still, like, hurt, but still likes basketball. So that's what I wore, like, all blue. So I get there, and it's. A couple people that know me was like, oh, you a fool. We call on the show, we telling Don and them because, you know, you don't like the Knicks. You don't got any skin in the game. Why you got Knicks colors on? Why you repping Knicks? I'm like, what are you talking about? Like, Giants blue? I'm just repping the Giants. I was at my New York team, and I had, like, a little NY pin on. So they just kept saying I was a fraud the whole game. Like, you got Knicks stuff on one. And I did have the little orange bracelet on for my friend or like that. But that's just my friend. It was just a little orange bracelet. That's it. But, like, God, does that make me a fraud? I had the blue on. That was Giant blue with a Yankees cap on. See? Tessa. Tessa. Oh, my God. It kind of does. Oh, my God. How do you have to feel like you gotta rep the Knicks? Listen, the blue, a Giant. No. Why. Why did you. With the little orange. Because for your friend, you're. Be honest. She was, like, devastated, crying, and she just was like, can you just wear this for me? Just because, you know, I'm like, fine. But it was under my freaking sleep. My. It was cold. It was under my sleeve. It's when I got up and clapped that you could see it. So I ain't go front. I did have it under my sleeve. Rooting for, like, some of the plays, like, especially the last. The Halliburton shot at the end. I'm like, oh, my God. So it's like when I was getting up. Don't forget, I just love basketball. So that's when you could kind of see it. It was the tight. It's like one of them little rope ones. It was so tiny, Don. It was so tiny or whatever like that. It's like, her daughter made it. So I was like, fine, I don't want to. I don't want to, you know, overstep my bounds. But, Peter, it sounds like her friend needs better help. You know, you might be right. And you know me, I'm like, you know, we touched too much an hour. So I'm like, I can't do it. Me for moral support. Like, what are we doing, Peter? I don't know how I feel about this. I don't know why you felt like you had to represent the Knicks. But your friend, it was for her. It was no freaking Nicks. Ew. It was for her. Her little daughter made the bracelet for her. Like, when she got. So she made me one, it was orange. I'm like, why would your daughter make me. No part of you cared about the Knicks whatsoever. No, it wasn't my friend. That's like, you got Nick television. I said. I said, I'm leaving. I'm leaving. I said, I'm just water because your daughter made it. Even though she made it orange. You know, I'm not no Knicks fan, but you let her make the orange one anyway. I said, but I'm just helping you out because you weren't all devastated, didn't want to go nowhere or whatever like that. I said, but I'm going with you. So that's what it was. So now when I get there, there's people there, and they know me. They were always calling, Don, we telling them you were fun. Like, wait, see what happens. You see? But your friend doesn't know. This is. You should have better come on. Like, you wearing the bracelets gonna really help your friend for moral support. What? Pretend to be a Nick fan for me. Don, is this a good friend? If it's feeling like thou doth protest too much, Peter, I don't. I don't understand how wearing the orange bracelet is gonna give, like, moral support to her friend. And you don't see what you're. What you're being kind of used. Like, pretend to be a Nick fan for me. And you're like, okay, I love you. Calling fraud on this list. I love her. You know, I love Tessa, and I think she's a die hard fan, but that's fraudulent behavior. I'm sorry. You heard the gavel. The gavel doesn't lie. No, the gavel can't lie. Doesn't know how to lie. People kind of as crazy and wacky as it is, you know, people value my opinion on this. And, Peter, I think you have my back on that. I. Very much so. It didn't. It didn't sound good. And the fact that she just added up, man, it was too much. Listen, if she didn't think she was being a fraud, she'd be like, oh, stop it. That's not gonna say anything. She called. She waited on hold to defend herself. Right. I wouldn't even have known about it, but she probably was probably eating at her that she did something wrong. We still love you, Tessa. I did not disconnect her. I don't know what happened, so don't feel like we hung up, but. A fraud. Let's go to Mike in Annapolis. You've been on hold for a bit. You're on ESPN New York. What's up, Mike? Hi. It's good to be on with you guys. Love you guys. Radio royalty with the legrecas. Don, I love you and Dave, and I'm a big wrestling guy, so. Peter, you're awesome with your diversity and being a jack of all trades here. Thanks. With everything going on with Tibbs and the scrutiny there, I. I think it's kind of funny how in the NFL, Sean McDermott is a type of coach where I feel like the Bills have been on the. The come for so long. Right. And, like, just the inconsistency. I know it's different sports and different ownership, but, I mean, you can't tell me the Bills don't need a different, like. Like the Tibbs thing. I would argue he should at least have next year. I feel like the. It's been like that for Vic Dermot now for three years. I mean, you can go back to, you know, 2022 with them having seconds on the clock, beating the Chiefs, and they just squandered that. I mean, that was definitely mismanagement. So it's just, you know, sports is funny and inconsistent. Like, that just kind of drives me. I'm not a fan of him. But Buffalo, even though it's football, right, and they share revenue and they're not hurting for finances, Buffalo is the kind of franchise that I think is going to pay attention to how much time is left on a guy's contract he's extended through 2027. He signed that contract two years ago. So, Peter, I don't know if Buffalo wants. I don't know how much he's making, but I don't know if they want to eat multiple years on a contract for a guy that's been, you know, consistently in the playoffs and hasn't embarrassed them at all. I'm not a fan. I think they can do better now. They just haven't been able to get past Kansas City. But overall, I just think some of these, some of these teams just don't have an appetite to eat. Time left on a contract. Could I see that? Maybe if he doesn't win in the next couple of years, when his contract is up in 2027, they move on. Yeah, I do. But I think for some of these teams, Carolina with the Hurricanes and Rod BRINDAMORE, Bills or McDermott, I think the money matters and they don't look at it the same as we do. Right. Like, maybe they're happy to consistently go to the playoffs and don't want to take the chance of taking a step back. But I'm not a fan. I don't think he's the reason that they've been good. I think he might be holding them back. But are they willing to eat two years on his contract? I don't think so. Are you a fan? No, I can't say I'm a fan. No. No. It kind of leaves me, and I'm a Buffalo. If I want to see them win more than anybody else in the AFC, outside the jets, you know, I would like to see the Bills win. I thought the Bills would have made a move a while ago. I thought, I thought there was. You think about how quickly the Tibbs thing happened. I thought the McDermott thing was going to happen a long time, multiple times. Yeah. But it hasn't. But, you know, a lot of organizations, they value being a consistently good team, and the Bills are a consistently good team. So outside we look like, how do you just not, you know, come up short all the time? Don't you want to win? Maybe they're, maybe they're afraid if they get a different coach and they don't go to the playoffs, it's even worse. 1-800-919-3776 Again, I've got that question I want to ask Yankee Fans. Well, no, and he's got another great one today, diving into Chili's. So he's, he's branching out into really. Yeah, some of the chain restaurants. But to be able to Carlin talk to these people, hang out with these people, you know, so. And it's good to be able to see all the, the listeners as well. So that's gonna be coming up, you know, like three weeks from today. So looking forward to that. 1-800-919-3776. I wanted to ask Yankee fans, what concerns you about this team? I mean, you've got a fabulous team that's in first place by five and a half games. We had Michael K. On yesterday. Doesn't seem to be worried about the Red Sox and that series starts this weekend. Maybe he'll think differently if things go sideways this weekend. Blue Jays don't seem to be very good. Rays never go away, but they're not, I don't think, a legitimate threat right now. Tigers are a threat. I think they got the best record in baseball, but you wouldn't have to worry about them until the postseason. So usually Yankee fans are pretty good at finding something to complain about. Is it Devin Williams? Is it, you know, LeMay Hewitt second but honestly, on the surface, Peter, as we usher away from basketball and start focusing on the baseball here until baseball, until football camps open where baseball is going to take center stage here, what do you think Yankee fans are concerned about? Is there anything really to be overly concerned about? The only thing I hear is Devin Williams. Right. And legitimately so. That's the consistent thing. Closer is going to be important, but it's not like you don't have an answer. Now. Weaver got hurt. So Devin was given the opportunity and he almost blew it the other night. But he did get the save. But he gave up a run, left his tying run and scoring position through 3:30 pitches in that ninth inning. So it wasn't great, but he did get the save. And then Weaver's going to come back and if Devin Williams is a problem, well, then, you know, Weaver will then take over. And I think the fans are happy with him. So at least you have an answer for that. And you heard Michael say yesterday Williams might be one and done. He's a free agent at the end of the year, so it's not like it's an albatross contract and he's going to, you know, he signed other big money for the next three, four years. If he ends up being an issue, then he's gone at the end of the year and the Yankees will not allow him to be the closer if it's a problem. So I'm not saying it's not an issue, but I don't. I really think this is. This should be a fun. Kick your feet up. Regular season, there isn't going to be anything to worry about till you get to the playoffs. And I'm not telling you not to pay attention. And if you take a look at the ratings the other night when they were on Amazon prime, were still like, terrific. Is that. They can't check any boxes, Peter, till they get to October. There isn't gonna be anything that's gonna make you feel no. Unless there's like a major. And we know that, that you can answer until you get to the playoffs. No. And then there'll be a lot to answer. But this, this is sort of the. This is the. One of the hard parts about covering the Yankees is that when they're good in the regular season, there's not very much to do. This came down. It's just how they are. It's how the fan base is. Corbin Burns, Peter, Tommy John done for the year. Not ideal. These pitchers, man, so fragile and yet they give them so much money, Peter. And I've been preaching to the choir for that for a long time. But I just saw that you get them once every five days and then they get hurt, then they're guaranteed to get Tommy John at some point. You lose him for at least a year and then that's. That's just the Tommy John injury, though. It's not like that's the only injury they're ever going to have. 1-800-919-3776 so that's on the table, too. If you're a Yankee fan, is there anything like really in this regular season to be legitimately concerned about? Mets had an awful loss yesterday. We didn't get a chance to talk about it because it literally happened. And that's not what you want. There's two ways to look at it, Peter. Like every loss they've had, they lost three times to the Dodgers. They won the season series 4, 3. But all three losses, they had a lead in the ninth inning, you know, so. Or at least in the eighth inning. Eighth inning yesterday at a 5 5, 3 lead, Alonzo had two RBIs, including the insurance run in the top half of the eighth inning. To make it 5:3. And then Garrett gave it all back, and the Mets couldn't get the equalizer in the ninth inning, and they end up losing. So it would have been so much sexier if they had taken three out of four, won both series and all that. I still think they're fine. They got Colorado and Washington coming up. So Mets have a chance to go on a bit of a run here. But the thing that makes the Mets so much more interesting to me, obviously, being a Met fan, but, you know, Atlanta looks like they're cooked, at least right now, but, like, Philadelphia's is right there. So there's no guarantee, as good as the Mets are, that they're going to win the division where I think the Yankees, even with some of the flaws that they might have, they're going to win this division. And there's tons of teams to worry about in the National League, but there seems to be only one to worry about in the American League, and that right now is the Detroit Tigers. And they're not in the Yankees division, not anymore, anyway. So I think the Yankees are going to be fine come October. We'll have to wait and see. 1-800-919-3776. Patty's in Brentwood. You're on ESPN, New York. How are you? Patty? Hi. So what's happening? Hello? Yeah. Hello. Hi. Hi. Okay, I'm calling about all this nonsense with Michael K. I listen to his show every day, and he has been comforting the Met fans, telling him from day one, soto's gonna be okay. Soto's gonna be fine. Don't worry. He doesn't knock the Mets. He doesn't talk bad about them. Why are all these Met fans jumping on him like this? I. I understand about the article that came out, and, you know, they're saying, oh, he's making this stuff up and this and that, but every day he's telling them, Soto's going to be fine. He's the greatest hitter there is. Don't worry about it. Why are they getting crazy on his show, the phone calls that he's getting? It's crazy. Well, because he's a Yankee announcer. You know, I think that's what it comes down to. They think he's biased. They think he hates the Mets because he's the Yankee announcer. Now, does he love the Mets? No, he's a Yankee guy. He's a Yankee announcer. Grew up a Yankee fan. So I could tell you, doing this for as long as I've been doing it is that if you are, you know, The Yankee announcer or the jet announcer, or you have some affiliation like Allen with the Knicks fans that are against that team are gonna, are gonna take your opinions and your information with a grain of salt because they're going to think you got an agenda. And so when he says that people on the Met side are saying that, he's glum. Oh, he's the Yankee guy. Of course he's going to say that. How do you fight that, Peter? You can't fight it. I mean, if you think there's a bias, it's. Well, it's the ying and the yang of the gig. I mean, it's a wonderful gig to have. Obviously it's Michael's, you know, coup de gras that he's the Yankee announcer. But yeah, there's going to be in this market with another team always there. There's going to be a downside as well. So that's why I'm surprised. Also, he gets so upset about it. Not only are people in general ignorant these days and don't want to read the details, but you also know they're going to be coming at you with extreme bias. So that's why they think he has an agenda. They have an agenda. Their agenda is their Met fans. And they don't want to hear from a Yankee guy that there's something wrong with their player. And he's. She's right. He said nothing. Of course he's going to hit. Soto's going to hit. But let me just defend Met fans, not the yo yos that go after Michael in that way. But Met fans are a little sensitive because let's be honest, a lot of Yankee fans have trolled the Mets about how he really doesn't want to be there. He's longing to be a Yankee. He's not hitting because he wished he signed with the Yankees. So there's trolling on both sides for sure. So you just, just ignore it. He's going to hit. He's going to be fine. But Michael is a Yankee guy, but he's also a baseball guy. He's also a talk show host that knows things other than the Yankees. And when he says that he went to the ballpark at 8:30 and we're talking to people and he's connected, that's legit. Because first and foremost, and Peter, correct me if I'm wrong, first and foremost, Michael considers himself a journalist. So he's got the instincts as a journalist that when he's got, when there's a conundrum, when there's a question he's connected enough to be able to ask people questions. And he legitimately was told by people that Soto looks glum. And again, it didn't take a rocket science to see that he didn't look happy. But that's. Now, listen, he's not trolling Met fans. He's not being Yankee boy in that situation. His reporter instincts kicked in. He had some extra time in a day game, showed up to the stadium early, started talking to people. And I'm sure those reports were absolutely legit. Listen, I'm on both sides of this too, because I'm defending Michael against people who are dumb. But I also thought the story was silly. Not that people didn't say it to him, but I generally thought the Soto story was stupid. Listen, but it doesn't mean it wasn't said. But again, take. It's just information. What you decide to do with that information. That, that people in the Mets were a little concerned that he seemed glum. And I think he was glum because this is a generational hitter that wasn't hitting that would make anybody glum. If I come on the air and for a month can't speak, I'm going to be young to be glum too, because it's my job to speak. Peter, I'm sure you were glum when you lost your voice that time and you still work back. That's going to depress you that your livelihood. This guy hits and all of a sudden he's not hitting. That's not gonna make you glum. But the narrative was by people on the Yankee side. Well, he's glum because he's not a Yankee anymore. So it's not just about the glum. Why is he glum? And Michael never said that he was glum because he wasn't a Yankee anymore. He was gleaming or glum because he was a mad. He said he was just glum and nobody knows why. Well, guess what, genius? It's because he's not hitting. But all he did was give you the information, you do with it what you want. I do think the whole thing's dumb, you're right. But it's information. Number to call Reports are the Knicks have asked permission to talk to Jason. Kidding. So we've got candidates popping up here. Would you be cool with Kid Man? Cool. Yes. I'm not. I'm not jumping up and down. I'm not going. Oh my God. It all makes sense. I'm going. All right, let's see. Well, to be fair, is there anyone they would hire where you'd have that reaction? Jumping up and down? Oh yeah. Yes. No, no jumping up and down. There's very Van Gundy, but that would be. Still, that would Be nostalgic. I'll put it. I would put Jason Kidd somewhere around Michael Malone, maybe a little bit lower because Malone has a recent championship. Right. But. But. But I also feel like he hasn't. Kidd, I don't think, has reached his full potential yet. Yeah, I mean, he's still young enough that you could figure that you'd be catching somebody that maybe can be here for a long time if he's successful. But outside of, like, if you were to Price Bolster away from Miami or Kerr away from Golden State, I mean, that's. That. I think that would get you excited. Well, those are almost so big, it almost applies too much pressure. Well, you know, like, that's almost too much. Like, it almost. And Snyder, like, move that ends up blowing up in your face. Those are scary, too. But that's not happening, so it doesn't matter. And, of course, we've got, you know, a classic game one last night, the NBA Finals, we saw a classic game one in the Stanley Cup Final. Game two coming up tonight with Edmonton up one game to none, Indiana up one game to none in their series. Let's go to Ivan and Islip. You're on ESPN New York. What's up, Ivan? How's it going, boys? What's up, Don and Peter? What's up, baby? All right, listen, two quick points first. You know, everywhere I look, I'm seeing Halliburton this, Halliburton that. He's an MVP. He's a superstar. He only scored 14 points. All right? He had 14 points against OKC in game one. Yeah, he hit the big shot. But him scoring 14 points is a big reason why they were in the hole in the first place. But can we calm down this superstar talk around Tyrese? I can't stand him. And the second point is. Well, before you do, you should listen to the open of the show, because Peter just nailed the fact that he's not a superstar. But there's just something about him in clutch moments where he rises to the occasion. But you're right, there's a. He leaves a lot to be desired at times during games. But, boy, there's not too many players you want taking a last shot than him in the NBA. That is true, but he does have a tendency to fade away in certain spots. You know, the Knicks, he was. He was hot then. He was not. I just don't see superstar out of him. And the second point is, if. If the Pacers somehow end up going on this magical run and upset OKC and win the chip, how does that change the conversation around the Knicks firing tibs? Was it an overreaction on their part? Thanks for the. Thanks for the opportunity, guys. I think what we learned from that conversation is that Ivan should listen to the start of the show. We touched on a lot of that stuff, but I guess we're all thinking alike there. How does it change the narrative? It changes the narrative. It could have been you, and to the Knicks, it should have been you. But it also, on the other side, Peter, makes you feel maybe a little bit better that you didn't lose to nobody, that maybe you underestimated your opponent and you lost to the eventual NBA champion. So I don't. That's why we opened the show with it. Like, how do you feel about last night? How do you feel about the Pacers? And I don't. I still don't think they're going to. But how would it feel for Nick fans if the Pacers want it all? I wonder how much the odds changed yesterday. Do we know? Well, they. I mean, they just took home court. They had. I'm still. I'm sure. What is it? Plus 270. What happened? So, yeah, see, that's plus five. That's a big deal because it's home court. And again, just like the Celtics series with the Knicks, they still. They somehow steal the next one, then it's probably dead even because. Because we've. Because that's been proven. You don't overcome that. Right. It looked like the Celtics would. They didn't look like the Knicks might be able to do. They didn't. You know, both of those series ended in six. And listen, Allen led the charge. He's not here to defend himself. And Al knows basketball exceptionally well. Peter, too, looked like at times. The Thunder were unbeatable at times, but Denver had him on the ropes. They had to play a Game seven. Now, they crushed the Nuggets in that Game seven, but they had to play Game seven. The Thunder actually faced elimination. The Pacers haven't. Now, the Thunder will absolutely destroy you in games, but they faced elimination. Right? So you can't tell me you're unbeatable if you lose three times in a series, Peter. You know, so. Matter of fact, the Pacers have been much more unbeatable. By the way, the only team that really tested them as far as games were the Knicks, and they still lost in six. Pacers actually have a better record than the Thunder in the postseason. Right. So, yeah, I was not. I have not yet been willing to just crown OKC because they look like the best team in the tournament. Right. Especially once the Celtics were gone. And without Tatum. I still don't. They have not done it yet. No. SGA is still young, Jay. This is still a young team. Yeah. And you never know. I still think they'll be okay, but, you know, I didn't see last night coming, that's for sure. Marvin in Sparta, you're on ESPN New York. Peter. How you guys doing? Hope all is well. All good, baby. I wanted to continue that fraud segment real quick. I'm a lifelong Commander's fan. I'm 37 years old. And just to give you a quick backstory, I had an uncle who I really disliked growing up. He was cursed a lot, and he smoked and everything like that. And he was a huge Giants fan. And he betted on a lot of games. And there was one game where he put money that the Giants would beat the then Redskins, and the Redskins beat him, beat the Giants. And I guess my uncle lost a lot of money and it led to him crying. And from that point, I'm just like, man, I like this team. And then when I actually started playing Pop Warner football, the first team I ever played for was called the Redskins. And I love the color and everything. So then I started watching them more on tv and, you know, you can't really see them that much because I was in Jersey, but. Well. And you're 37. You're 37. So the era, you started liking them. They stunk too. Yeah, but they had a lot of likable players. You know, they had Daryl Green, you know, Art Monk and everything like that. So I really like just gravity to the players. But I. I just. I just stuck with it because they're the only team I really followed that much. But I want to talk to you about the. If I was a fraud, because I really started disliking the Redskins when the whole Trent Williams thing happened, when he had like a match on the back of his head and king traders said, oh, no, it's nothing. And then like he ended up going to his own people. And then they found out, you know, yeah, we should got. We kind of addressed it. Need to address this. And that pretty much what led him to leave Washington. And then with the whole Washington. Washington football team name change, it was just like a whole debacle. And I'm like, Snyder should have definitely seen this coming and had, you know, names thought up with this. But for us to be Washington football team for two years and everything, and then the whole scandal, you know, the sexual misconduct Scandal and everything. Schneider's gone. Who are you rooting for? Oh, I'm a full. I'm a full Commanders fan. But the thing is, I was, I was back on because even when I said I was done, it was still hard not to cheer for them. So I was still telling people like, I'm no longer. So there's no, there's no part fraud here. I mean, so it sounds like Don. It sounds like he was disgusted with them at their worst, and a lot of people were. And, and, and now. But you never left them for another team, right? And now you're back. I don't listen. It's like a relationship. And Peter will tell you this from his own relationship with the commander slash Redskins, is that there are times that fans can hate their team as much as the opposition can, whether it's ownership, the way they're playing, certain players on the team where you're like, I just don't like these guys. You still root for them. But it does affect your fan. I mean, it just happens. I mean, I've had a tough relationship with the Giants over the last few years. The way they've played the different coaches, like, everything. That's the way that's been handled. I have all the respect for John Mara. I don't think he's done a great job. So I was not in a good place with the Giants. Still a fan, but it sounded like he was just in a bad place with them. But he didn't replace them. He still rooted for them, but just felt awkward. I got no problem with that. Peter, I think he described you. I mean, listen, I stupidly stuck with them, like, completely, but I felt guilty about it. But you, you admitted you were in a bad place with them. I mean, you started working right in a Snyder, you know, heyday of just. Yeah, I mean, I still went to the games and I still bought stuff and watched, but I felt gross about it. And I frankly admired people who checked out. I don. I actually had more respect for people who checked out than people who didn't. I thought he was going to say that. He, you know, he started rooting for the Giants and then. And then he went back and now he wants back. No, he didn't do that. So no fraud. I mean, some of, some of these teams make it challenging, man. They do. Not just in the losing, but in how they conduct themselves, the decisions that they make. Sometimes you're disgusted by your. Your. You're disgusted by them. But almost like a child, you just stick. You find a way to stick with them. You fight through it and you just hope that you come out a better person at the end of the day. Thanks for listening to the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast.
