You can make yourself a fraud just like Scott did by just throwing a hat on, even though you kind of root for somebody else. She's one of our favorite people and hopefully I can coerce her to come to the mark. Sasso softball on August 22nd at 5:00 clock in Hawthorne, New Jersey. We'll have details coming up throughout the summer. She's played in it before and then she decided to have a child and not play pregnant. Peter. She decided to be responsible. Maria Moreno.
B
I did play pregnant.
C
Yeah, she plays pregnant.
A
But then we didn't know she didn't play newborn.
B
Nobody knew.
A
We didn't know.
B
Yes.
A
At all.
B
But I could potentially make a comeback.
A
I hope so. She's going to check her very busy schedule. You can see her on Vibe, check on Disney. Plus you've seen her on SNY back in the day. Her coverage of UConn basketball. Of course, the WNBA is unprecedented. And you join us here on Donjon Rosenberg. And you've been a frequent visitor here to the Beach Bash, which we appreciate.
B
I have. I think this is my third Beach Bash, third annual. I feel like I missed last week or last year. Yeah, I missed last year again.
C
But you, you felt like you said, you know what? I like to go, but this year I wasn't able to go last year. I'd like to risk death this year.
B
Yeah, well, admittedly I made the plans before I knew what the forecast was. I did have some second thoughts this morning, but I was like, you know what? I gotta go.
C
You were, you were committed.
B
Yeah, I was committed. It was in my head. It's really hot. Whatever. We got a fan.
F
You didn't.
D
You didn't bail.
B
I. Don't be dramatic.
C
Before we get into the monotony of sports. Who cares?
B
Let's be honest. Yeah.
A
Well, how is your baby?
B
What's.
C
What's going on? What's the latest action?
B
Yeah. Peter and I have a lot in common these days. She's 15 months.
C
15 months.
B
Sleep is inconsistent. We'll say. Okay, but she's obviously adorable.
C
Well, you guys didn't get a night nurse, did you?
B
No.
C
Yeah.
A
Yeah.
C
Oh, yes. We cheated. And it worked.
B
Wow.
C
Yes. Yeah. Night nurse. The night nurse taught the baby how to sleep, taught us how to parent. It was a very best money I ever spent my life.
A
So.
C
So I do hear that. I know this can be a hard. A hard period.
B
Yeah. I mean, it's also awesome. Like, she's learning so much. It's. It's crazy how much they learn, like, in such a short time. So it's hard. We call it the beautiful grind. But we're in it.
D
If you could do the one. One thing for us is could you teach Peter how to lose the baby weight? Because you clearly have. What did I do? Like, it.
G
Just.
C
What did I.
D
You really done a great job.
A
Find out who your friends are.
C
I know, right?
D
You look fantastic.
C
Yeah. I'll remove the. The insult and only go with your compliment. It's a great point by Alan.
B
All I can say is thank you, Peter. I have no.
C
You have no answer from me. I thought I was gonna. Well, if you looked at the stage at our radio station, I'd say The answer is GLP1.
B
Listen, I don't know what to tell you. I. I was not gonna. I wouldn't have noticed the thing.
C
Thank you. I appreciate it.
B
I'm being honest.
C
Listen, I had the baby. I move on as fast I can. Are you getting, like, words, like, specific words being directed to you about things or just sort of random things being said?
B
So far, just, like, babble. Just. Mama, Dada, and then.
C
But here's a question I have.
G
Yes?
C
Is Mama and Dada. Like, is she addressing it directly to you?
B
So she didn't used to, but more recently, like, if I walk in the room, Mama, you know?
C
Really?
B
Same thing with my husband.
H
We don't even.
C
By the way, it's so funny. So Maya has a bunch of words she likes to say.
B
Okay.
C
And Mama and Dada are starting to become a thing, but they're not really directed. We have to coach her still she's learning it, like, I mean, it's a
B
little bit of both, you know?
I
Yeah.
C
There's still some direction. Sometimes it'll just be if you had done a. If you had done a Family Feud. On Maya's top five words. These are the important words being said so far. There's no bigger word than ball.
B
Oh, ball.
J
Ball.
C
She sees a ball.
B
I mean, there's a good chance that might be Audrey's first word. There's that. We have a book. It's got a ball in it. She'll open up to the page and point at it. And so I'm very emphatic. Ball. We have a little basketball. The goal is to get a hoop very soon. Oh, what are you.
C
What are you doing? We've had the hoop going.
B
We're behind. I need to get the hoop.
C
We have two hoops. We have multiple hoops.
I
Different look, hoops.
D
Maya's already cross crossover.
C
Yeah, Maya. Maya. She dumped, by the way, now that
B
we know that there's some potential competition.
C
And by the way, like her dad, she loves to do nothing more than accomplish something and immediately clap for herself. And my favorite thing that she's been saying these days is she has added bear. So mama and dad actually is not there, but the second bear walks into a room. This is how she says it, though, verbatim.
I
Be.
C
And it's the most joyous. Like, it just happens in a moment.
B
Thanks for imitating that.
C
They were two ships in the night. They didn't even pay attention to each other. And then one day, she's like, I have a dog here. This is incredible.
B
Yeah.
C
So anyways, congrats. We're very happy for you.
B
Congrats to you as well. I appreciate that.
C
So now let's get into the subject of the day.
B
Horrible, horrible.
C
WNBA takes from people. Don, you brought it up earlier with the soccer. You want to talk about flying into a sport blind without ever paying attention.
B
That's true.
C
How crazy does it make you, as someone who is an expert in the field, to see people just show up because of a Caitlin Clark controversy and start dropping bombs on the subject?
B
So back when she got drafted in 2024, I think it bothered me a little bit more because I wasn't used to it, and now I'm just of the mind of. You know, people just have to be smarter with where they're getting their information. It's hard. Obviously, social media sucks because you see snippets. You see. You don't see context at all, and people just espouse and you kind of have to have recognition as a consumer of, well, I'm going to take this person seriously or I'm not. And so it's. It's kind of on the consumers a little bit. But I'm just of the mind. Like, I. I am much better now at ignoring the noise and picking out.
I
What was the.
K
What was the worst.
C
What was the worst one you heard, though, in the last week?
B
Oh, that's hard to say. I'm telling you, I really. I really kind of tuned it out.
C
The manual ox show people felt like won the super bowl of bad taste.
B
I didn't watch it, to be honest. I scrolled past. I didn't watch.
C
So what did you make of the whole. What do you make of the whole conversation?
B
And that's not a knock on him, by the way. I just didn't even. I just didn't even think about it that way.
D
Do you want to let her know what he said?
B
It was something like the league would
C
be better off at this point without her.
I
That's.
C
It wasn't worth your time.
B
Yeah, I just. That's probably why I scrolled past now. Now it's coming back to me.
C
There you go.
B
But yes, as far as what I made of it, you know, it's funny. Last year, Michael. Michael's probably still floating around here. He had a. Like a WNBA take about the. That went pretty viral from the station. And he was like, does the W have a Caitlin Clark problem? And at the time, my answer was no, but they have an officiating problem, and that's been a recurring issue. And it just so happens that Caitlin Clark is such a magnet for attention, and now people are looking for it even more than they were before. There is such a microscope on everything this woman does every single play. And to be honest, I think that the officials. I don't know how you could possibly be ready for this, but it's like they make a call or don't in real time, and people are going back and they're examining every single thing with a fine tooth comb. And so it's kind of impossible. They're kind of in an impossible situation right now with the job that they're doing because there has been improvements. I mean, y' all remember last year and a fees of Collier went off like they worked on officiating a lot. The underlying problem is the W has for a long time been a feeder system to the NBA and whatnot. So you have officials a lot of times that, you know, aren't full time. A lot of times they also ref the college game. They're not making as much money because there are fewer games, the games are shorter. Right. So there's all these underlying things that make the W job less desirable. Right. So the goal is that's I want to get to NBA, right? That's where I'm going to make more money. And so when Nafisa went off about this, my whole thing was, okay, you gotta get the CBA done first, then figure out how you're gonna pay the officials and all that.
D
How do you make officiating more of a priority?
B
So it's happening, but it's not gonna happen overnight. And so you just have to be aware of that. My issue, though, is we now have three years in a row where we've had hard fouls on Caitlin Clark that were not even called common fouls in the moment and were not reviewed in the moment. And so it got the blow up was a million times worse. Because what happened was there's outrage that it wasn't made a call. And then they go look after the
D
fact because of who it is.
B
Yeah. So they go look at it after the fact, then they upgrade it to a flagrant two or whatever. And all the Caitlin Clark fans are like, well, what the hell? How come you didn't call this in the first place? And that's a valid question, but that's
D
part of the problem is because it's her.
A
Yes.
D
It's tenfold the attention that it gets, and then it turns into. She's the only one that deals with this. So that's why I wanted to ask you. Is it because you talked about Collier and what she said? Is it really just her that gets hit like that and not calls? Or is that merely. Is it merely because it's her? It gets more attention when it's her versus. This does happen to a lot of the players.
B
I think there's a little bit of both. But I think we need to make a distinction between. Last year, Marina Mabry, with clear intent. I mean, tackled her.
D
Yes.
B
To the ground. The fact that she was not ejected for that was mind boggling. You know, the year before that, if you. If you recall, it was the Kennedy Carter thing. Kenny Carter, you know, called her an expletive, came over. Not a basketball play at all. Again, not reviewed in the moment. This Alyssa Thomas thing, to me, I know the still shot looks bad.
C
Oh, are you with me? Are you with me?
I
It's not as bad as.
C
I don't even. I don't even know if it's a flagrant, to me, it's like it was on the line.
B
To be blatantly honest, I thought they were gonna give her a flagrant one. I don't mind that they gave her a flagrant two, but they suspended her, and they didn't suspend the last couple. The last couple years when they were not basketball plays. Now, again, this is a. There's an evolution here. So there's. They're making more of a conscious effort. So I get it. The. The rules maybe not are the same, maybe aren't the same this year that they were the last year. But, I mean, I don't think. I think Alyssa Thomas was kind of like whatever about it, and she's always been a physical player. There's also a little bit of. There's some background there with her. Her fiance, Dewana Bonner, was on the Fever last year, then failed, went and joined her team. So there's like a little bit of history there. Not to mention the game prior. Did you know that? There was, like, multiple texts, There was an ejection, like there was stuff going on.
C
Are you talking about something called context? Because that doesn't get included here, so.
B
But the officials should have been aware of that, and they should have been.
D
That's a good point.
B
Really.
D
That's a really good point.
B
The game we're talking two nights ago,
D
you prepare for a game in the NBA. The officials are aware of everything going into the game. They do their own scouting reports.
A
And I just want to quickly say the ESPN New York Beach Bash is brought to you by Spike Date Boost Mobile, Miller Lite Fanatics Fest NYC and the New Jersey Lottery. Maria Moreno's nice enough to join us here. Would you have like. We had a similar situation happened in the NHL 20 years ago. Alan will remember when. When Bertuzzi tackled Moore in the Vancouver Colorado beat him to a pulp. It was awful. It was ugly. All of a sudden, all the national media parachutes in and looks at that incident without any context, without any backstory, without any knowledge of how the sport is played. And. And while he was attacked, you would be arrested for doing that. And I'm not saying that was Brashear and McSorley.
D
Wasn't that another. Everybody did the same thing, but what
A
Bertuzzi did was wrong. But people don't know the backstory of the 2 times ago they played or even. Even against Bertuzzi, how the time they played before that, Bertuzzi attacked him, beat him, and. And still felt like he needed to do it again. You have too many people parachuting in with almost no information.
C
Right.
A
And the WNBA is one of those sports where it's becoming vastly popular because of Caitlin Clark. And you have her fans who in maybe some markets are bigger than the actual WNBA fans and they want her to have special treatment or they feel that the need because the league is going to be hurt if she doesn't get it, which is ridiculous because that's never talked about in Sports. If Connor McDavid's attacked, it's not like he's the cash cow of the league. They say the officiating's poor. Do a better job. Like, it just feels like a lot of people have opinions without the knowledge of just sports in general.
B
Sometimes there are a plethora of ulterior motives. I think sometimes people feel in need of, okay, I got to get my take out there because it's Caitlin Clark and I'm going to get lots of views and lots of engagement and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
H
So I think.
D
Right.
B
You know, that's a problem I agree with, with Fever coach Steph White that she hasn't been officiated like everybody else at times. But I also think it's a combination. Like, Alan, you talked about it. I compare her to Michael Jordan a lot because we know years later, we know there's been documentaries about it. We know the Jordan rules. Like, no, that existed. But right now, in real time, there's social media, there's. Everyone has a phone with a camera. They're recording the clip, they're putting it online. They're. They're reacting like that wasn't the case back then. But at the same time, physicality has been a hot button issue. That's what Nafisa brought up. And so that part isn't just Caitlin. The officials, their mantra this season, they're. They're trying to allow freedom of movement. And if you look across the league, the fouls are up. Across the board, they're calling more fouls than ever, which is creating more opportunities at the free throw line. It's making the scoring go up. It's, It's. It's clearly happening. But it is a little bit inexcusable that. Okay, we know, we know what's going to happen here with Caitlin. Right. Review the play, make sure you get it right. Stop having these reactionary. All right. We'll upgrade it to a flagrant a day later. That just all that. It doesn't help your case.
D
It also breathes more energy and more into more oxygen into the topic Instead
B
of letting it just go, it's brewing
D
all night and then you give it a second day. That's right.
B
Yeah.
C
So I wonder in the end, though, how bad any of it is. I mean, it was.
A
I got to tell you guys.
L
Yeah.
C
It was quiet for the WNBA a month ago.
B
True.
C
When the season started this year, it has not been a hot start. The Knicks thing quieted all basketball.
B
That's fair. And by the way, it's not the
C
worst thing that's happened.
B
I'm glad you mentioned that. Can we talk about the Liberty won the Commissioner's Cup.
D
Yep.
B
So. Oh, I like it. We got some fans. Fans. I'm. I'm hoping for another, you know, situation.
D
Another title.
B
Knicks. Knicks want a cup title.
D
Town.
B
That'd be great.
C
Knicks won a top.
B
I don't know if. I don't know if the Liberty will pull it off this year. They haven't looked to me like a championship championship team quite yet. Chris DeMarco's first year. They're getting it together. But they looked great the other night in the Commission Cup. I mean, granted, Asia Wilson was out, but Sabrina was doing her thing. She got that crowd popping at Barclays and so we'll see how the. How the season.
D
I thought it was hilarious that Nick fans bought tickets behind the Aces bench just to let Becky hear it. Oh, that was. It was hilarious.
B
I did not know.
D
This is what they do. They not only do, they go to Philadelphia and Cleveland and San Antonio to roof of their team, they buy tickets to a Liberty game just to be behind the bench to get after Becky Hammond.
B
Everybody's all. They're all over Becky. Right.
C
Oh, you know what that's going to be. I. I know like the Knicks left coast people are. You know, they'll be doing a big summer league thing in Las Vegas.
A
Yes.
C
I wonder if they get tickets. Catch a. Catch an Aces game and go talk some trash.
D
That would be.
B
Can they talk some trash, though, to some of the other people that had bad takes about Brunson, though, too. Like, can we. Like, why is it. Why is it Becky taking all the.
D
She's the only one that hasn't apologized. I think everybody else is kind of
B
Buddy, Allen, Maria, name names. Well, all I know is I've seen. I talked about this the other day on a show I did. Like, there's a video montage out there of like, oh, it's every. All kinds of people. And I've seen. Of course, I've seen Stephen A. Apologize. He's a Knicks fan. Let's Be real, Draymond. Apologize. And that's fine. She said she was wrong.
I
Yeah.
B
But there's a thing.
D
She doesn't need to apologize.
B
People have this thing, and she literally said, she was like, why am I going to apologize for having an opinion? I was paid tv.
D
We all agree, Maria. We all agree. Like I said, the reason why I brought up it was funny.
B
I don't mind.
D
See the fans do it. No, I think, do I think she should should say, I'm sorry, I was wrong? No.
B
Like, should she be the one getting the, you know, the arrows?
C
Honestly, no one should. Because the fact of the matter is, nobody thought.
I
Nobody thought.
C
Everybody's lying.
A
And for all we know, the next 20 years, she'll end up being right again. Like, there's always Outlaw.
H
Not about him.
C
Right.
A
But about the size, you know, I don't you get. That's why I'm so with you. And, and I. These guys heard me say it a bunch of times. Never have to apologize for having an opinion. You're wrong and you wear it and you own it.
B
And that's the punishment when you're on the air five days a week and you're talking for three, four hours a day like things are going to happen. She. And that's the other thing. She's not a her. She's in her season right now. She's not on TV every day. Like some of these other talking heads apologizing. She was asked about it in a presser. She addressed it.
C
We played it. We loved what she said. We have a 10 out of 10. I, I listen, if I am completely wrong about the Jaylen Brown trade, that's great. I'll never feel bad about how I feel about it in this moment.
D
Right.
C
It is what it is.
B
Yeah. I'm a little confused about the Jaylen Brown thing, because my thing is, if you're Philly, your problem is you still have Joelle Embiid, who's not going to be healthy.
D
Sure. That's a crazy take by you.
C
Yeah, I know.
B
Why.
C
No, she's joking, of course. But no, no, they, they, they here's what happens.
B
I didn't catch the sarcasm, Maria, but
C
Maria, you know, but you know what happens when people have a moment like this.
B
Yeah.
C
Like I saw yesterday, some people reacting, oh, my God. Embiid Maxi Brown fire emojis. I'm like, yeah, every year that could be the case. Or Embiid misses 35 games in the playoffs. I still not signing up the Sixers to win the championship. And I'LL say this now, 24 hours into the nightmare that is no Jaylen Brown in Boston. I want to add one other thing. Even though I think the trade is insane and I think there's gonna be a lot of noise to convince you it was the only thing they could do and justify it. Yeah, I don't think that. I think. I absolutely think they could have done better or I agree with Bill Simmons. I agree with Bill Simmons who said this is one three hour dinner with six people at a table and we could make it work. I would rather do that than do what they did. But I will say this. Can people stop acting like the Celtics are gonna be in the bottom of the conference?
B
They still find a way.
C
They still, they still have a bunch of the pieces there that they've had.
D
And Vegas, they're going to be competitive.
B
Thought they would do what they did without.
C
Exactly. And now they're doing without. Now they'll have to do without Brown.
B
Yes.
C
Add Mitch Robinson and other pieces. So, yeah, I'm disappointed. I'm upset by it. I do not think they're going to be the last in the east next year. I think they'll compete again and you
A
know, they're probably going to have a sit down in Philadelphia because wasn't it Jaylen Brown who called Embiid a flopper?
I
He did.
A
So there's always going to have to be something that's going to have to be smooth.
C
I don't think like that's a great
A
player, but let's be honest.
C
And Embiid. And by the way, Embiid and Brown both talk so much that like they know things get said. It's an, it's an interesting fit and it's interesting for the Knicks.
B
I have always felt bad for Maxi because it's like you're ass every year to contend and every year your guy that's next to you may or may not be on the court. And I feel bad for every coach that's had to, you know, coach with that and now Jalen Brown signing up for that.
D
I can tell you with confidence they are sick of him in Philadelphia. I mean, sick of dealing with it.
B
I don't blame.
D
It's annoying. But they have to cater to him because when he does play, he's effective. So they have to end the contract.
B
But it hinders your entire strategy from a big picture perspective, from a granular perspective, game to game, series to series, everything.
C
But you can't give up on. But he's too good to do anything else except kind of accept.
D
Well, it's also the contract. It's unbelievable.
B
100 no one's going to take that contract.
A
This is great. I really appreciate it. Hopefully we'll see you on August 22nd.
B
Hopefully. And clear my calendar.

I
No, no, no. What I'm saying is who has three championships?
A
No, no, no, no.
I
The Pistons got three championships, right?
D
And then you said, what, in only.
I
What, in 30 years? No, I said the Ravens have.
D
Oh, the Ravens.
I
Yeah, yeah. Two and 30 years. Because he was talking some Stiller crap.
D
Oh, okay. I thought you were talking Pistons crap. And I was gonna say. Yeah, the guy that walked in with a Knicks championship hat on.
I
Well.
B
Well.
D
Yeah.
I
Yeah.
D
Okay. I wanted to make sure you were on point. My job was always to keep you.

That's what I want to do. That's my role. Make sure that you're on point.
I
Hold up, hold up.
D
You're on point.
I
When did you get your own brand? Brand of aviator blockers?
D
I got these. I got these, like a year or two ago.
I
These, like buffs, Wood grain.
D
You like that?
I
Nice.
D
I thought you'd like that.
I
Nice. Yeah.
D
Don't get a splinter.
I
What up, my peoples?
A
What's up, Bart? Scott's here with Jordan Ron on Talk a Little Football. How are you guys enjoying.
D
No, he never backs up. We got to fix his audio.
A
Yeah, his audio.
I
I'm getting, I'm getting. I'm getting. I've been heckled by way better people than you, buddy. You sitting over there drinking Coke 40, Coke 45 with the comb over.
G
Wow.
D
You.
I
You. You are too. You are too young to be wearing a 2x bowling shirt.
D
Wait, wait, wait.
I
Yeah, he has a 2x bowling shirt on.
D
Hang on. You're missing the point. What he was trying to say is.
C
What?
D
Big Ben pushed you away. I'm sorry. What was the sound that Big. What was the sound that Ben Roethlisberger made when you hit him on that sack? Oh, you heard that sound? You heard him make that sound?
A
Oh, yes.
D
Took the air out of his body.
A
That sounds like.
I
So can somebody get him some Age appropriate clothes on. Why you got Tony Spirano shirt on?
D
It actually looks like his.
I
Soprano. Yeah. Soprano.
A
Yes. All right, we gotta fix.
D
Jordan is only on the pa, Not. Not in the. Not on the station. So we gotta.
A
Yeah, come on. Swing over here. We lost Peter.
I
How. How about. How about.
D
How about Peter.
I
How about Malik neighbors?
D
Is he gonna play?
I
Nope.
D
You say no.
I
Listen, did you say at all?
G
You're saying not at all?
I
I'm saying week six. I. I really have some major questions about if they should have took a ride receiver in the draft knowing what his foot was. If he needs another surgery. I mean, his knee is to. To. To not go out and get Tate or get a. Another wide receiver. You're going to have to ask yourself a question. In a year or so, he's going to want an extension. You got to see how that knee is going to age. The same way we talk about Kawhi Leonard. The same way we talk about these guys. Degenerative knee injuries. How is he going to age if he's. If he's had two surgeries on the same knee? How can you not go out and get Jackson dart a guy Scatterboo. And this. I'm so tired of seeing Scatterboo. Like he need to go away.
D
Let him answer that one first, though.
L
Go ahead.
G
I was talking to a physical therapist. He kind of agrees with scar tissue at 23 or 24 years old. That's not something you just red flag. It's. Yeah, it's not something you describe. But I also do think we're kind of gone to like another level. Like you said week six. I honestly think right now it's a coin flip. He's ready for week one. Like, we're not. It's.
C
It's.
G
We're not at that point where we're putting him on pup. First of all, you don't want to put him on PUP to start the season because then that means four weeks. He can't even practice.
I
You have to protect him for yourself. Maybe.
G
But their idea right now, their belief, the Giants, is that he has a realistic chance to be back for week one. So maybe being back, let's say practice start of September, what's the first game week? September 13th or whatever. The 12th, 13th, whatever the date is.
I
I always hated when guys came back during training camp, and then we tried to make them on this invisible timeline and make them start for the start of season. Then they get hurt early in the season. Then now they're rehabbing again, and it's Another injury because of compensation. You got to bring him along slowly if you want to. If you worried about the life of that knee over the duration. Because if he gets another knee injury or a compensation on the opposite foot or the opposite leg, it usually happens on the opposite leg. Now you almost, you're, you're stunning. The growth of, of Jackson Dart, I mean, and I'm sorry, man.
G
For me, for me, that's the bigger concern, right? I think you nailed it right there. The bigger concern isn't whether Malik Neighbors are going to be back or when he's going to be back. It's can he come back and be Malik Neighbors, Right? Like correct right away is that it'll be something that will probably take time. So I think like, realistically we're looking at, okay, Malik Neighbors back to his full self. We 4, 6, 8, middle of the season, right? That to me seems realistic right now.
A
If I'm the Giants, my concern is for my former, you know, first round pick and to make sure that I don't ruin his career. I understand. This is a big season, guys. You got John Harbaugh. You've had a miserable decade. You want to try to get back to winning. But I'm in it for the long haul, man. I don't want to see this team win five, six games. I want to see them win eight, nine games. But I also want to know that there's a future here. It's not like John Harbaugh is going to come in here and then be gone. I want him to get back to normalcy. If they end up having a bad season because guys are banged up and injured, I can live with that. I just don't want a bad season because I have an incompetent coach and I got an organization that's going nowhere. I already know they're moving in the right direction. Let's make sure Neighbors is okay.
I
It's unreal expectations. I think people think because Harbaugh, you know, had success in Baltimore that that whole program, that organization was already together, right? Yeah, he got the, he got the job because we had one bad season. But the year before, you know, we were, we were in, you know, one of the better teams in football. Remember, Brian Billick had just got a new deal. He was one year in that deal. So he comes here and yeah, you got the fourth. No matter how you want to slice, you got the fourth best quarterback in the division. Right. And you don't have name brand names on the side right now. Right now I like Isaiah likely, I Like that they're trying to build the offensive line, but that takes time to kind of come together and become the type of brand of football team that Harbaugh envisions, which is what his whole family is all about, physicality and toughness. I thought they also should have upgraded at the running back position and try to go get a dude because when you sit up there like with a guy like Scatterboo, you're talking about 12 yards in a cloud of dust. You don't have those home run hitters that you need that if once, once, once Ricard gets you to the second level. Do you have the speed like, like Derrick Henry? Do you have the speed like Keaton Mitchell? Do you have the speed like some of the other running backs that have been behind Ricard that can take a, that opening and be able to take it to the house and give you explosive plays through the running game?
G
He had one run of 20 plus yards.
D
I just want to. So I, I understand what you're saying.
I
I'm so tired of watching him, like, he just don't get it, man. He, he, he, he wants to be grunk.
D
Yeah, he, he, he is playing now, but something.
I
Did you see him biting shot?
B
He.
I
Did you see him shotgun at the, at the, at the fight?
G
But let's be, let's be fair. When he was on the field, he was productive. He scored seven touchdowns in eight games as a record.
D
But I don't want to, I don't want to debate Scatter Boo because I want to go back to something that Bart said. Gordon about this. Because you've been around it. Because you've been around it. And Bart, Bart was there in Baltimore, so he also was around it. Right. So when it comes to Harbaugh, our expectation is that he steps in LT and Jamal Lewis. Okay, let's, let's talk here.
I
I'm sorry.
D
So he comes in and our, our feeling is, is that Harbaugh comes in and now he's going to bring his culture and change the culture of the Giants. And Bart's kind of saying, well, he had Billock's culture and he just kind of that. Yes, stay with that. So what I want to know though is because the Giants, as we know, really didn't have much of a culture going on there right. Since D.C. left Jordan. You're around it all the time. Do you have, do you see, is there something noticeable, noticeably different about the Giants just vibe wise with Harbaugh in charge? Definitely.
G
I mean, I talked to Jermaine Illumina or the other day.
B
Right.
G
And what he said was, john Harbaugh is going to be completely honest with you. And that stood out to me. Like, he's going to tell them, you know what's going. Like, Brian Dable was a peaser. Like, that's kind of what he did. He played favorites. He was known to do that. John Harbaugh is going to tell them what the problem is. Like, if you're playing poorly, if you're doing. If you're doing something wrong.
D
Yeah.
G
He's going to be straight with you and honest with you. And I think they. They appreciate, as a player, you tell me, John Harbaugh, did you appreciate that? Like, was he.
I
It's going. It's going.
G
And honest.
I
But here's the thing. It's going to take. Well, I saw him almost get beat up three times in like a month by players his first time there. Because he can.
G
Because he was so honest.
I
He know. Because he can rub you the wrong way. Right. He's. He's more like his brother than you guys think.
G
But when you're bad, when you're a bad team like the Giants have been, right, you're willing to accept that. You're willing to accept everything he says. There's almost like a truth because, hey, this guy's had success. We've had. Yeah, they understand. I think the guys there fully understand. We have not been successful.
I
See, but to Alan's point is he. Can he organically build a culture?
D
That's what I'm asking.
I
He inherited. He inherited a culture. It's like what they were saying. What was the Patriot way? Well, Tom Brady was the Patriot way. Well, what was the. What was the Ravens way? What was Ray Lewis's way? Right. It was that culture that was already instilled, ingrained in the, in the, in the fabric, in the walls. Ozzy Newsom, that. That was there before he got there.
D
You understood when you put the uniform
I
right, it didn't matter who the coach was. You knew. You knew exactly what it was.
G
He's trying to lay that groundwork, though. That's what I'm saying, right?
I
I'm saying it doesn't happen overnight. But here's what I'm about to fire a lot of people in that locker room.
G
I talk to a lot of people here today, and most of the people seem to have realistic. I think it's all about expectations of what we're talking about, right? Yeah, most people seem to have realistic expectations. Like 8, 9 wins is what most people here have said to me. Like, that's realistic.
K
Yeah.
G
We're not talking, like, people that say 10 to 12. Like, I should win 10 to 12 games and make the. Dude, they won seven games in the past two years. Come on.
A
How is that realistic?
G
That's a huge jump.
A
That's my point, is that we see John Harbaugh, we see what the Ravens have been. We saw John Harbaugh won a Super Bowl. I'm not even thinking about the super bowl right now, guys. I just want to be a competent organization again.
I
You just don't want to be a joke.
A
I don't want to be a joke,
I
and that's going to take some time.
A
So I don't want, like, oh, well, nine wins this year, championship game next year, Super Bowl. No, I just want to get back on track. Right now, my franchise is in the weeds. I need somebody to get them back on the damn track and then move forward. And maybe when they finally do turn the corner, guys, and win a Super bowl, maybe John Harbaugh is not here, you know, but at least they're back on the tracks. They're moving forward. I don't know if they have a quarterback or not. We're going to see.
I
That's the issue.
A
We're going to see.
I
That's the issue. We're going to see. He has to mature.
G
But that's the number one thing this season's about, right?
A
And that's. And that. But that gets there. So, guys, let's not talk about the top of the Empire State building like yesterday with those two wackos. Right now, we're in the basement, all right? We got a long way to go. And so I don't want to hear about expectations. I just want to get back on the tracks. And I think John Harbaugh can do that. And we'll see. But you know how it is in New York. The expectations become the reality, right? So instead of nine wins, it's six. And now there's pressure on him going into 27, and then maybe it goes to eight, and then the people lose patience, and now his job is on the line going into 20. I don't want that.
I
They're going to have to find a way to find out if Jackson Dart is the guy, because that's the most pivotal decision that Harbaugh is going to have.
G
This is the biggest thing about, right,
I
Because Harbaugh is going to have an opportunity, if it doesn't work out, to say, hey, I need to go in another direction to get my quarterback, because that's not my Quarterback, right? So it's always crazy when you inherit a quarterback that's young because then now you're expected to take that quarterback to the next level. But he may not just be, he might not just be a guy. He might just be a guy. Right? Right now it's easy for us to say that he's not better than Dak Prescott, he's not better than Jaden Daniels and he's not better, he's not better than Jalen Hurts. So like he's going to see those guys six days, six times a year, right. Knowing that he's, he's not better than them. But can he play smart enough, understand how he has to win until he gets the cast around him? And I think without Malik neighbors, it allows everybody to gang up against the line of scrimmage and they didn't go get an elite running back. Right? You don't have a running back that can get you to the next level. Get your explosive runs. When you look at the Ravens offense, a lot of their explosive plays was run from Lamar Jackson. Runs from, from Derrick Henry. Runs from, from Ray Rice when he had, when he had people there. Remember he had Ray Rice there. He also had Bonte Leach. He had his Patrick Ricard. He has his, he has his Vonte Leach right there in Ricard. But he don't have a Ray Rice, he don't have a Derrick Henry. He don't, he don't have that horse that can get you explosive plays the dirty way and grind and take the clock down.
G
I don't, I don't think it's a matter of whether Jackson dart is John Harbaugh's guy. It's just a matter of what can Jackson dark grow into. That's what we're going to find out this season. I think you already realize, okay, he, he could be a quarterback you can win some games with. He can run around, he can make plays. Can he develop as a pocket passer and be a top, really top high level quarterback like Lamar Jackson when he was younger? That was always what we said, right? Lamar Jackson could go out there and make plays. He didn't become an MVP type guy. And I'm not saying Jackson Darcy improvising.
D
Yeah, yeah.
G
But you can't just improvise all the time.
I
That's how I say, can he play on schedule? Can he play on time? Because you can build around it. I can't build.
D
All that's great though. All that's great. But I'm telling you the other part of him that I'm watching this year is at the podium because you could tell he pays attention to everything. It's different in New York. It's different than this market, than any other place. And he's now going to become the most important, whether it, whether it's accurate or not, the most important player on the team.
A
And I need.
D
So everything he says and everything he does and how people react to him and how he handles when things don't go right and he gets criticism because, you know, look, he's been a golden boy. He's been treated very well. He is. He has celebrated his celebrity in this town. But when it starts going wrong, how does he handle that part of it? Because that's something also that can take him down. Not just the talent on the field, but it's how he handles the spotlight of New York. And knowing.
I
Damn it, Dom, I want more.
A
Don't say it. I'm just giving you a little warning that we are on clock, but go ahead.
I
Okay.
D
Did he give you a hand signal? You listened to a hand signal for the first time in your career?
K
I did.
I
It was like Brady, he's trying to land a plane.
D
You know, I would put my hand
I
up, but I'm a guest here, hun. That's why I got to pay attention because I'm company. Well, for me, what I'm saying is I hope that he don't let his pride, his ego get in his way because him doubling down on the fact that he's going to play the way that he wants to play. Listen, we remember when Anthony Richardson came in his league, he said told us he was an alien.
M
Yeah.
I
Well, those dudes that was hitting him told him that he. There was Ghostbusters. He wasn't. Or Men in Black. Right. Because he won't see the field, hurt his shoulder because he trying to be a tough.
D
He's in Area 51 now.
I
I, I hate when people say that they think that there's something that the league has never seen. Cam Newton. It worked for a little while, but
A
Cam, you'll get humbled.
I
He. Yeah, you get humbled.
G
Here's. Here's what I have learned about Jackson Dart. Though he may like the spotlight, he may appreciate all the attention and like everything that comes with it. You see it. He likes all the spotlight, the, the courtside tickets he's made for. And that's fine.
D
Yeah.
G
The positive you take from it isn't everyone you talk to. And John Harbaugh fully 100% believes this. He cares about football and he's going to work at being good at football. So that is a big thing.
D
I don't doubt that.
G
We don't know if Anthony Richardson's that guy.
A
Right.
G
That's been a big thing that a lot of times is a differentiator with guys. Are they willing to really put in the work? Do they care? Is that their number one thing? I think for Jackson darts, they believe that's the number one thing.
I
Part of putting the work is being smart and saying I got to be available for my teammates, not your ego. Like putting in the work and all that stuff is one thing I just didn't like.
D
But you're right. And what I didn't like is how he bristled the minute someone brought it up. If I said it, just understand there's
G
been a change of tone this offseason a little bit. I saw it when I was at the, the Giant town hall and I thought it was very interesting. There's been a little bit of change of tune. Now, maybe he doesn't fully, deep down believe it. I'm not sure he fully believes it, don't show it. But the Giants organization, Brian Callahan, the quarterbacks, I said to him, have the. They brought it up to you? Have they talked about it, this new, this new regime?
B
Mr.
G
Giant, Dave Rothenberg right there. And he said Brian Callahan, his first meeting, sat them down, they went over the film and he basically showed him the tape and said we need to be know when you can do this and when you can't. So they've made it a priority that that's what it says to me. They've made it a priority that they have to tell him you can do this at certain times. And he said that, he said at the town hall, the third and fourth down, I'm going to put my head down. I'm going to run through people. I have to know that first and second down early in games. I can't always do that.
I
Don't be rocky for that. If Jordan, he dies.
A
Jordan Ronan, always great to talk to you, man. You're the best. Mark Scott, thank you so much. I think I got Chris Carlin still here. We got Dave Rothenberger still here. We got ENN coming up. H
Yeah. It went. Sweated through the hat very quickly, we call it. Oh, my God.
D
I mean, I think everybody's sweating through everything.
H
I, I know, but, like, I will
D
not stand up until it's time to leave.
I
You got that back? Butter.
H
Little swap. Every swamp.
D
Little swast. Yeah.
I
Little swap. Okay. Somebody get my boy some corn starch.
D
I need some talcum powder.
A
I, I, I, I don't know if everybody knows.
H
I'm not going to drink your last Gatorade, by the way. I'm sorry. I'm not doing that. I appreciate this.
A
It's not like taking somebody's last cigarette.
I
All right.
A
I brought my own personal stash.
D
Yeah.
A
And I had a Gatorade just in case there might be somebody that wants to get.
D
You brought a cooler?
G
Yeah.
D
With drinks.
A
Yeah.
H
Yeah. I let everybody know that he offered nothing to you.
D
No, I never knew this.
I
Is that the Dell, or is that the Del R Heart down there?
D
No, no, I'm good.
A
I'm all set.
H
No, it's like he's like Chevy chasing three amigos, drinking the water and pouring down his face, and then lip balm.
A
Would you like a nice. A nice brisk. You can't say dick.
I
Throw me a brick.
A
All right.
I
There you go, baby.
H
Keep it brisk.
I
Yeah, but you got a Dale Earnhardt. You should have some whiskey in there or something, man. It's like it's America.
H
Han, I have to tell you, man.
E
What?
H
You know, I don't think it's been said enough.
D
What's that?
H
The work that you have done over the last few months has been phenomenal. I have watched every last bit of IT coverage. He has been awesome. He has been absolutely awesome in this.
I
Put your bimbo. Put your Venmo out.
H
No, he gets paid enough. But between get up and. Between get up and the MSG post game, I've been there every day, and you have just covered this thing from pillar to post. It's been awesome.
D
Thank you.
G
Thank you.
D
I really enjoyed a lot.
I
Why didn't you break the Mitchell Robinson news? And what did he. He said he tried everything in his power to stay. He said that the O.G. what happened, man? Why did they break up?
D
First and foremost, I think I did say on our show, well before free agency, that more than likely, you know, like, the expectation is he's going to be gone. He's gone. Why? It's hard to keep them.
A
They don't want to do the second.
D
There's a second apron. It's very restrictive. And when you have a starting five like that, that all make over 20 million, like you're, it's, it's virtually impossible to be under the second apron. And the second apron is restrictive?
K
Yes.
D
You can sign your own players and go over that apron, but once you do, your roster's locked, your payroll's locked, your draft picks are locked, Everything's locked. You cannot, you have no maneuverability. And so it's a dangerous place to go. And the owner decided. Now teams have done it, but the owner decided, I am not doing it. And so they had to make a choice. So they brought back three key bench players. So had to say goodbye to one. Because one. See, you had a choice. Bring back one and lose three or keep three and lose one and try to replace the one.
I
So basically saying, basic math. So basically saying, these chicks ain't loyal.
D
I mean, he was there for eight years, right?
I
And he suffered and endured and they decided to get rid of the.
D
You know what he's doing?
H
Go get the bag.
I
He really get the bag.
H
And he's got enough.
D
No, no, he's doing really well.
A
41 point was a 41 point.
I
But, but it's only 15 million. He made 13 million last year. They could, they couldn't sweeten the pot too. He's not worth two more.
D
Get rid of Shaming once again.
I
Why don't you develop somebody?
D
You can't do that. You need depth. Didn't we learn that this year?
I
You need a big man. I know you need a big man. Now you don't get cave on Looney.
D
No, they're not getting Kevon.
H
All right?
D
Right now they're going to get somebody.
H
Are the Sixers the biggest problem?
D
Yeah, they are the problem, yes.
K
Threat?
D
I wouldn't call it.
H
No, no, no, I didn't say threat. Just a problem.
D
The problem is certainly there because, you know, they, they, they added a piece.
I
LeBron James, who, who gives them a,
D
you know, a dynamic two way player who's have, who has experience. And I think that was something. When you watch the Sixers in that series with the Knicks, it, it wasn't just experience, it was a lack of depth. They have terrible depth. They couldn't go to their bench. And, and of course the embiid factor was also a big problem. Paul George ran out of gas every game in the fourth Quarter.
I
He would have great first quarters.
D
Fourth quarter, couldn't make a shot, ran out of gas every. So now they have an extra piece. Him and Maxi are going to be tough to deal with. And beat is still, for them, a problem more than he is a problem for everybody else.
I
They just signed Simon, right? They just signed Simon, right? I think they did that. On my way.
D
Simon Cowell.
I
No, no, no. Simon from Anthony.
H
Simon. Simon.
I
Yeah. Okay. And then so, you know, last time it was a big decision. You know, that's where you made your heyday. So where's LeBron James going?
D
Cleveland.
I
Cleveland?
D
Yeah.
I
Why Cleveland? He's been there, done that, though.
A
But where else is he gonna go?
I
He can go. He can go to the Sixers.
D
Why would he go to the Sixers?
I
Why not?
D
Because it doesn't make sense.
I
When would a different organization.
D
How are you doing? How are you doing? A farewell tour for a franchise that you have zero connection to whatsoever and a team that is building different than who you are and what you are.
I
Listen, I don't.
D
Cleveland makes the most sense for him. It's obvious the owner wants to do it.
I
The owner hates him. The owner.
D
The owner does not hate.
I
He used to hate him.
D
They had some. Yeah, they had. He brought him back after he wrote that comic sans note.
A
That's all that's interesting about the Sixers is It's been since 83, so it's almost Nick.
K
Right?
I
That's what. That's been a long time. That's what I'm saying.
D
43 years.
I
If he win in Philly. Come on, man.
D
He wins in Philly.
I
I much rather see LeBron James in Philly, man.
D
All right. You'd like to see it.
I
I think.
H
I think.
I
I think that's the most interesting. You told me you root for interesting.
D
That's not interesting.
I
That's not interesting.
D
No, no. Golden State.
I
The process can finally be completed.
D
He is not going to the Golden State. Would be the interesting. That's the drama. That's the. That's what would be like compelling him and stuff.
I
Everybody get out the West.
D
Well, all right, but it'd be interesting.
H
New topic for a second. Don, to you. If they were playing the World cup in your front yard, would you attend front yard?
A
I wouldn't turn the hose on it. I did watch it last night, but it's not. It doesn't move me.
D
We did get the number.
A
Oh, yeah. We got to mention that we did get the number. Kofi was nice. Let me see it over.
H
Hot night.
D
And this does not Take a Guess Carlin. Take one.
I
I got it. 24 million.9.
D
How many? What do you think?
H
124 million in the, in, in the
D
U. S. What is the viewers in
I
the U.S. oh, 24 million.
H
I would say. Yeah. Probably in that neighborhood.
D
24.4.
H
Wow.
D
It is the most watched soccer telecast in English language of course.
H
Yeah.
D
In U. S History.
I
It's like. Is that like watching the combine?
D
Like watching the NFL draft?
H
Not far off.
I
NFL draft.
A
Now here's what's interesting.
D
That's a division round.
A
Now again, I'm sure the New York number was big because there was nothing up against it. There was no Mets, there was no Yankees.
B
Right.
A
The next game is Monday. Both teams are playing. But again the Mets really aren't playing. Will it be exactly. To me if it's exactly the same, that would tell me they've won over the people they're going to win over. But if it, if it continues to gradually get bigger and then they get to the elite eight. Now you're talking about. I think you're doing a number that's probably going to close to 50 million people. Because the United States is about. Listen, hockey doesn't get big numbers but all of a sudden they're playing for a gold medal. 30 million people are going to watch.
D
Good point.
A
I do think that it's going to get some big time numbers.
H
Next topic. Has Peter left and did anyone notice?
D
I think he might have. We. He, we might have won the deadpool. Oh, he's there.
H
No, he just took, he just took the last hour off.
D
Okay, he just took.
H
Come on up here.
D
That's fine.
H
Let's go.
D
But wait a minute though. You didn't answer the question.
H
What's the question?
I
You got kidnapped.
D
We were just, we were just talking about, about soccer itself. We were just discussing it. Yeah, your, your thoughts are.
H
Listen, I'll get into it but I'm not going to get like this into it. I'm not going to wear a jersey.
D
Jersey.
H
No, no, I'm not making fun of him for wearing a jersey.
A
I just always been into it.
I
See all you guys, all you guys are married but I love all these green cards being given out, man. Cuz guys are hooking up with. They seeing these, these people in like Mexico. God bless you Chris.
A
Really. There's only one man.
H
There's only one man in the world who knows my pain.
I
No, you, you, you have right there. No you, you haven't seen how they in Mexico they making out with the foreigners. You know what I'm saying you haven't.
C
