Are all batteries the same? That's like asking if all soccer players are the same. Take Messi, the most decorated player ever. Is there any other player who has achieved that? No, just him. Now take Duracell. Is there any other battery with powerboost ingredients inside? No, just Duracell. Remember, goats only trust goats because they're built different. And Messi only trusts Duracell.

This is the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast. That sounds like heaven to me. Listen live weekday afternoon starting at 3 on 8 80, ESPN, the ESPN New York app and your smart speakers.
Ty Butler
Two hours down. Two more to play with on this Freaky Friday. Ty Butler, Jake Asmond, we hitting y' all till 7 o'. Clock. 800-919-3776 at Ty D. Butler at Jake Asmon. We are watching Team USA with a 2 nil lead. Looks like the referee is injured. He's getting stretched out in this game. I don't quite understand what's going on because I've been, you know, told soccer matches are 90 minutes long. I see 94, 20, 29, 20, 30, 31, 32. And this game is still going. The match is still going on. So I can't figure out what's. What's happening.
Jake Asmon
Plus six, which means it can end at any point in time, whenever they feel like it. There's no real rules. It's whatever we feel like it in soccer. I enjoyed Michael K's rant on this on his show earlier today. Yeah, I, I do not know a thing about how they. They truly determine it, but I will say we are up 2 nil right now over Australia and Kristen Pulisic, who I even know is our best player. He's not playing. Calf injury. He's out. You know, he is a huge jets fan, so I'm. I'm hoping that the Jet karma has not affected Pulisic because I don't want that for him. But us looking pretty good. All my soccer fans that I know in my life are very excited with how they played today and obviously the great performance they had last week.
Ty Butler
So do I get excoriated if I say two nothing to nil just doesn't flow to zip.
Jake Asmon
Are you allowed to say that in soccer?
Ty Butler
Two zip, two nothing. It just doesn't flow well. Anyway, we're going to lose our bet. By the way, we took a. It was plus 310 for a tie and we both took that before the game.
Jake Asmon
The emotional hedge. We're happy losing the bet because our country is the beneficiary of it.
Ty Butler
What happens if they go on this great run and win the World cup, we get the Knicks championship into the Team USA World cup victory, and now we're just on Fire.
Jake Asmon
It's 94, but better. The Knicks actually won this time. I'm not a Ranger fan, so I don't care about them. And the World cup, that kind of launched US Soccer in 94 maybe, you know, instead of going, I think they made it to the round of 16 that year. They go all the way and win
Ty Butler
the whole thing and we don't have an OJ arrest happen.
Jake Asmon
Yeah. Who's gonna. Which big celebrity is gonna get arrested this go around? Well, the NBA finals are over.
Ty Butler
James Harden got arrested a couple weeks ago for illegal gun possession he did
Jake Asmon
down in Houston, probably on his way back from the strip club that has his jersey retired.
Ty Butler
So yeah, we have that going for us. 800-919-3776 so the obligatory question, Jake. Next New York team to win a championship. I think the list starts at two because number one overall pick has to be the Yankees, right? They're the closest team to winning a title. They're a perennial contender. They're the best team in the American League. They're not going to have any resistance as far as I. As I'm concerned. You're hoping to get freed and judged back. You've got all these injuries and despite that, you're still in first place in the American League East. So I guess the Yankees have to be the number one overall pick. And now the list starts at two.
Jake Asmon
The Yankees are in a tier, I think, all by themselves. The Mets are nowhere close. Obviously you look at some of the other teams, I mean, can you even guarantee any of the other teams in this town are going to be playoff teams a year from now? I like the Giants, I think, you
Ty Butler
know, 65 or sooner, baby.
Jake Asmon
I think Harbaugh and Dart is going to be a good quarterback. Like, I think that's going to work. And I wouldn't be surprised if they're a playoff team. I don't know if I'm like betting on or betting my life. Like, I feel very confident the Yankees are at least going to get in. And that means you got a chance. I'm an Islander fan. They have a young phenom that we hope could help lead this team to greatness over the next several years. But they weren't a playoff team this year. The Rangers are kind of blah right now, trying to figure things out. The Devils have some nice pieces.
Ty Butler
The Rangers are working out, working on the Next letter they want to send out to their fans to let them know that they stink.
Jake Asmon
The jets, forget it. I mean, they're nowhere close right now,
Ty Butler
which is very sad for both of them.
Jake Asmon
Yeah. Believe me, trying to talk myself into, you know, Aaron Glenn and Geno Smith leading the Jets. Forget Super bowl. How about a 9 and 8 season? You know, how about a season that's not over by Columbus Day? That's a tough, tough ask. Right now I think it's the Yankees. Then after that, I mean, I'd have to think long and hard about it. It might be the Islanders of the Giants at least. That's kind of what I'm coming up with at the top of my head.
Ty Butler
Here's my problem with the 65 or sooner thing for the Giants. I can't unsee you've stunk the last decade. Like, I understand Harbaugh comes in and then we're excited about Dart. You've been bad, like one of the worst teams in football the last decade. So I'm just expected to think you're going to just experience this significant jump. I just don't. I. I can't see that at least yet, especially when you play in one of the best divisions in football. So it's hard for me to, like, just wrap my head around it.
Jake Asmon
It depends how good the quarterback is for the Giants. We know the head coach should be a major plus from what they've had. If Dart is really, really good, like at times he showed as a rookie, then turnarounds happen quick in the NFL. Look at Drake May once. He just got Mike Vrabel as his coach and, and what New England did going on winning a Super Bowl. I mean, they were there, they were
Ty Butler
in the game, win it.
Jake Asmon
They went blasted. But who's got the best chance to do it outside the Yankees? You can argue the Giants if you really wanted to. If you fully believe they got a franchise quarterback. That's the equivalent of having the superstar in the NBA as we know. Like, everyone's talking about how, you know, the jets could turn it around after what the Knicks did. Well, the jets need their version of Jalen Brunson, and that player is probably a quarterback in the 2027 draft. So it's not the jets until they get that guy. The. The Giants might have that guy. We don't know. Do I think Dart's going to be as impactful as Jalen Brunson was for the Knicks? Odds are probably not. But if he's really, really good, like Eli was in the Big Moments. That's the path to turning it around and eventually winning.
Ty Butler
No, you're. I'm not arguing that they, they can't be number two, but to me that's
Jake Asmon
more about who is number two.
Ty Butler
Man. Like Nets. The Brooklyn Nets. Now, I guess by default it has to be the Giant. But what is that? If the Giants are number two on this list, it's less about the Giants and more about how we feel about the rest of the group.
Jake Asmon
It's a sign that none of these teams are very good.
Ty Butler
By the way, it should be the Mets with all the money they're spending.
Jake Asmon
That's an entirely different conversation. The Mets signed Juan Soto to the largest contract ever given out to a professional athlete. And in his first two years. They're going to miss the playoffs, which is an abomination. And Soto, by the way, I saw this today. He leads all active players in the National League in OPS right now. And yes, he missed some time, but again, he is the best. He had two home runs last night. He leads all National League players in ops. They have one of the three best players you could argue in the sport in his prime right now. And they are going to have the first two years of a 15 year contract missing the playoffs, which is just insane.
Ty Butler
You got the free agent you wanted, you, you got the general manager you wanted, you've got the owner you wanted because of all the money he was going to spend. And you are one of the worst teams in baseball. So actually they should be number two. They should be fighting with the Yankees for the number one spot as far as like the next team to win a championship in New York and yet we can't even think about them or consider them because they're such a disgrace.
Jake Asmon
Andre in the YouTube chat asked a great question. How about the Knicks to win another championship before any of these teams? Honestly, would you take another team winning a title or would you bet on the Knicks winning their second championship before any of these other teams we've thrown out there actually win their first.
Ty Butler
Repeating in the NBA is so hard.
Jake Asmon
But I think I take the Knick if you give me, I think the Yankees can win it all this year. I do, because the Als down.
Ty Butler
I put the Yankees above the Knicks
Jake Asmon
slightly, but it's close. The fact that it's a real argument is.
Ty Butler
But I just think that, and I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but there will be a lot of, you know, dynasty talk. There's a reason why we haven't had back to back champions in nearly a decade.
Jake Asmon
It's hard. It's really hard.
Ty Butler
You go through four grueling playoff rounds the following year. We've seen all these teams suffer significant injuries and a lot of them lose
Jake Asmon
in the second round the following year.
Ty Butler
Yeah, the Thunder were the only team to make it as far as they did getting to the conference finals. These teams that win the title typically get bounced early and it's always a significant injury. And I'm not, I'm obviously not wishing that on the Knicks, but it's just the reality of how, how it works in the NBA now with the pace of play that the mileage you have to cover with the three point shooting, like so much goes into it, it's grueling on these guys bodies. And that's I think the main reason why you don't get back to back champions anymore.
Jake Asmon
You need luck. It's a war of attrition. Think about how different our lives are. Everyone who could hear my voice. If Jalen Brunson's injury in the first quarter of the NBA Finals is serious and he has to miss time, I'll
Ty Butler
go back two rounds before that. And Obi's grabbing his hamstring in the Sixers series.
Jake Asmon
They don't want a championship out of OJ And Obi. No chance. So like it's so hard to repeat because one, the league gets better around you and like certain things that go your way might not necessarily go your way and back to back years, but it's also, you got to stay healthy. It's luck. There's luck involved in some injuries. You could have all the great medical staff and the Knicks have a great medical staff and they've done wonders. There's still luck involved. I mean like if Jalen Brunson, God forbid, had a very serious injury in that first quarter of game one of the finals, they don't win without Jalen Brunson. No chance.
Ty Butler
Think about that though, like the roller coaster of emotions.
Jake Asmon
I had Aaron Rodgers, PTSD in the first quarter of game one this year.
Ty Butler
They're down 10. He's limping to the locker room. It's game one of the finals and every Knick fan who wanted to believe is like, here we go again. Like we've seen this.
Jake Asmon
We didn't have Ewing in 99 and now we're not going to have Brunson.
Ty Butler
We're seeing we. And he's limping into the. And by the way comes back, gets hurt again, hurts his ankle this time.
Jake Asmon
So it still hits the game winning shots. Down the stretch of the, of the fourth quarter.
Ty Butler
It, it is a testament to, and I know this has become corny in our go to phrase, but team of destiny, like, that's the only way you can really describe it.
Jake Asmon
When they came back against the spurs down 29 and the OG play happens, like, how often do you see a play like that happen where the guy's running, he's on. It's just everything that needed to happen perfectly for that moment to come together. It's a team of destiny. And very rarely in sports does that happen. Very rarely in New York sports, especially the last half century, have we had teams like that, that have that aura with them. But the Knicks had it and that's why it is a team that will go down as one of the most beloved and also most dominant championship teams we've ever seen.
Ty Butler
Yeah, because to your point, on plays like that, typically it's a put back down, not, not a put back. Yeah. Tipping. And a lot of it is like the confusion happening before, like, why is Darren Fox doubling Brunson with like there was so much going on in that play. And it's, it's going to go down as a forever moment if I ask you this and we'll get back to who's the next team to win a championship. But it just reminded me of a question I wanted to pose to you to remove the OG tipping shot from the equation. What's the most memorable moment of this run for the Knicks?
Jake Asmon
I think it's the comeback against Cleveland in game one of the conference finals. And now if I had to single out a play in that game, it
Ty Butler
doesn't have to be a play, just whatever the moment.
Jake Asmon
I think that's what I think of during this day, like just the fact that it felt like, oh God, here we go again. The Knicks, in their history have never won a playoff game. When they lost game one of a series at home last year, they lose to Indiana on the Halliburton shot. Here they are, they're no showing against the Cavs, really. Like we're still dealing with this.
Ty Butler
And the Cavs, who by the way, two days prior had played it in a, in a game seven.
Jake Asmon
Right. And the. Here are the Knicks down 22 with seven minutes to go. And that comeback was unbelievable. And Brunson was so good. And Bridges hit a huge shot when it, that when the shot clock was about to expire with, you know, all the, all the pressure on him in that moment and just the fact that the Knicks were able to win that that to me is the other moment I think about the most from like this run.
Ty Butler
One of the moments to me is like the. I think this was this game two of the Finals. The Dirk esque fadeaway shot that Brunson hits.
Jake Asmon
Yep, that was game two.
Ty Butler
Was just like an unbelievable moment because. And it's funny, like, this Nick run is eerily similar to the Mavs 2011 run when they're just blowing through my Lakers, the Thunder, I think they beat the spurs and they beat the Heat in the finals. Where, as we talked about earlier, not every championship in the NBA is like, created equally. Like there are some that just rise above others.
Jake Asmon
KD's two rings don't compare to the one that Brunson has. It's the best example.
Ty Butler
And look, I'm a big Kevin Durant fan, but obviously, like, that's in a different category. It's like, you know, 2016 LeBron is different from 2020 LeBron for the Lakers. And also some of them just stand out.
Jake Asmon
Like I used this earlier. For those who missed it, Mark Messier's one with the Rangers in 94 means more than the five. I believe he won with the Edmonton Oilers before he got to the Rangers. Like, it just. That's the weight of, as Josh Hart talked about, the weight of the Knick jersey that says New York across the chest. That's what these players have had to carry for 53 years. And there's no one better suited to carry it and exceed with the pressure on them than Brunson. That's why he's an immortal.
Ty Butler
I even think Wade's 06 championship just means more for him individually than it did with 2013 and 2012 and 2013.
Jake Asmon
I think Curry's championship in 22 after Durant left meant more than the first three.
Ty Butler
Well, because there were so many questions about not having a Finals mvp, not having like that signature moment. And then it was game four, the second half of that series, they're down to one, and he just goes berserk in the second half and then obviously wins the Finals mvp. But you're right, man. So are we in a. The Giants second?
Jake Asmon
I know you're not the biggest hockey guy. You could argue the Islanders. Pusick could maybe back me up on this if he agrees. Just because they have the young phenom, they have a lot of money they could spend. You know, they have a. They have an elite goaltender. There's some pieces here, like you could see the Islanders make a run potentially, but it's again, it's a lot of potential. There's no. There's no given like the Yankees are given to be a playoff team and be a legit contender. I don't think we could say that about any other team in the four major sports. They're guaranteed to be a legit contender and have a shot at winning a
Ty Butler
title I would love. I woke up the following day after game five. What was that? Saturday night? So I woke up Sunday morning and I had this weird, weird burst of optimism about the Jets. But then reality hit for me that it was really nothing about the jets and everything about what I just saw with the Knicks. And it's just hope.
Jake Asmon
You can't see Aaron Glenn and Geno Smith on a parade down the canyon of heroes in February of 27.
Ty Butler
Could you imagine Aaron Glenn giving a speech? It's like, next question.
Jake Asmon
Ask Rich.
Ty Butler
Ask Rich. Like Aaron Glenn doing the Aaron Glenn thing at the podium. No, I can't see it. I want to believe, man.
Jake Asmon
They canceled minicamp yesterday.
Ty Butler
Yeah, I saw that. Was that in honor of the parade?
Jake Asmon
I think it was. No one's going to be talking about this. We'll see you guys. Enjoy summer.
Ty Butler
Oh, man. You know what's so funny though? Like, we should. We should have had these New York moments sooner. The Durant Irving Nets should have won in 21. If Kyrie doesn't get hurt, they win the championship.
Jake Asmon
I think today's the anniversary of Durant's foot being on the line in that game seven. Sorry.
Ty Butler
Against the Bucks.
Jake Asmon
Yeah.
Ty Butler
It can't be because that's.
Jake Asmon
Remember, it was.
Ty Butler
Didn't the schedule difference. You're right. And it was the same weekend my son was born, so you're absolutely right. But yeah. So this should have happened. The jets in 23. I don't know if we're saying they should have won the super bowl that year, but we all went into it.
Jake Asmon
Thank you. At least their playoff trout is like they. They won seven games without a quarterback. Their playoff drought is probably over if Rogers doesn't get hurt in that opening game.
Ty Butler
I think they had entering the season the sixth best odds to win the super bowl.
Jake Asmon
And now they have the best.
Ty Butler
You were at the game.
Jake Asmon
It was the worst sports moment of my life.
Ty Butler
But then counteract with the yesterday. That has to rank number one for you. Game four, I would imagine.
Jake Asmon
Exactly. Game four would be number one. As far as like things I was at the parade is right up there. I've never. I've never been to a parade for any of my teams.
Ty Butler
So hit Us with some. Some more juice from the parade man.
Jake Asmon
You want to hear? Let me tell you a scheme that one of my friends.
Ty Butler
There's more. More.
Peter Rosenberg
This is.
Jake Asmon
This is. You know, I want to call this guy a friend. This is a listener of mine who called into my YouTube show this morning to recap his parade experience. This person reserved a dance studio inside the security checkpoint on Broadway. So they were. From the window, you could see the entire parade. Reserved a dance studio. Wouldn't reveal how much this person paid to reserve a dance studio, but made the reservation in advance, got down to the parade area, was able to like, show the email from the dance facility that he reserved to the police officer. Because if you either showed a work ID or something to proof why you need to get through the checkpoint to go to work, not just to go to the parade, they'd let you through. So he showed us pictures on my YouTube show this morning of him in a dance studio. The only rule was you can't have your shoes on. They're sitting on the like. As if that matters. I'll go naked. If I could get a view of Broadway for the.
Ty Butler
Would you?
Jake Asmon
100%. It was unreal. He's right there overlooking us towards the end of the parade. I don't even know the name of the dance studio, but I need to figure it out in case the Yankees win at all. And we're doing this in October. Like, it was just crazy. I don't know how much he paid, but he reserved a dance studio that's overlooking the parade route. And him and some friends had the most unbelievable experience because they said they had to go to this dance studio that they reserved and there was a dance class going on. Other than the dancing for joy that was going on the balcony overlooking this parade.
Ty Butler
A lot of yo shout out to. And this is not a political statement. I'll give the mayor credit. That was a phenomenal speech he gave yesterday. He did talk about how New Yorkers just find ways to get it done. So this. This dude, he found a way to get it done. Odds stacked against him. Reserved space in a dance studio and was able to watch this thing. No shoes on.
Jake Asmon
I will show you the. The pictures that I got too, just so you could see, like, the view the. That this person had. Like, it is it. It is surreal to think that this was a scheme that someone was able to.
Ty Butler
To. To pull off. To think of that is, like, remarkable, right? Like the. The wherewithal to just, you know, ahead of time, say, this is what I'm Wow.
Jake Asmon
This is the view.
Ty Butler
No, I love the no shoes in the shot.
Jake Asmon
Hold on, let me give you another view of it. Right above you see the person sitting there.
Ty Butler
What is that Broadway and Champions way for the Knicks?
Jake Asmon
It's right when they make the turn towards the end of the parade. And you can see this photo. He's sitting there overlooking all of it.
Ty Butler
Man. Good for him.
Jake Asmon
I don't know how much you think the dance studio cost?
Ty Butler
I was gonna ask you. Like, that has to be thousands, right?
Jake Asmon
And apparently you could have up to 35 people in this dance studio.
Ty Butler
So, so why is it just him?
Jake Asmon
It's him and a couple of friends. But I think the maximum they were allowed was.
Ty Butler
He should have taken it a step further. Charge. Charge some PC. You know, where we at, New York?
Jake Asmon
I already got a business idea. I would have reserved this for the Yankees parade in October if they win and want to make a pretty penny.
Ty Butler
Wait. So he's there for a couple of hours.
Jake Asmon
He got there, I think, before the parade started.
Ty Butler
Now I wonder if the owner of the studio now adds that to the charge because it's happening during the parade.
Jake Asmon
I don't know if the rate was hourly. I don't know if it was like, hey, you could just reserve it for this block. It's a set price. I don't have any of the details. You wouldn't. I tried to get the price out.
Ty Butler
I think that those studios are hourly rates.
Jake Asmon
What's the most you'd pay for something like this for one of your teams?
Ty Butler
Man, I, I, I don't like.
Jake Asmon
If I could pull together a group of people, I think I could, I would easily put up ten grand if I had that view for the parade. And I could bring, let's say, maybe I can't find 35 people that want to do it, but if I could get 10, 10 to 15 people.
Ty Butler
The counter to that is I could just watch it on tv.
Jake Asmon
You could, but you're in the parade. I mean, you're overlooking it.
Ty Butler
10 grand.
Jake Asmon
10 grand. And you're splitting it up with, let's say, either 10 or 15 people. So do the math.
Ty Butler
Anything. Rangers championship parade next year. You're paying ten grand to sit on the, what is this? The balcony of this dance studio to watch the parade.
Jake Asmon
Well, first of all, I didn't know
Ty Butler
that half the league got disbanded in the amount of time to allow the
Jake Asmon
Rangers to win a parade to get
Ty Butler
to a parade next year. But I would tell John, John, I'm going to make the sacrifice. I will Be the Tom Bauer of Barton Carlin.
Jake Asmon
I will go to the parade at
Ty Butler
six in the morning and I will be there bright eyed and bushy tailed
Jake Asmon
to make sure I that everybody gets on the air.
Ty Butler
Problem. That's a nice good point. By the way, we do have to give a special shout out to Jake Montgomery who has been doing tremendous work for this station.
Jake Asmon
He was on a float yesterday on
Ty Butler
rewarded for his hard work because for months and months and months, my man is working seven days a week, 24 hours a day producing and putting out social content because that's what it calls for right now. Right? Like social media is the wave. And so he has been doing an awesome job putting our station on the map, man. The videos he's gotten put on Twitter and Instagram and YouTube and TikTok and Facebook and the whole deal that has allowed this, this station to grow in that space. I want to give him a big shout out and it was great to see him deservedly so on a flow. My man is yo die hard Nick fan who just got this job like what a year or so ago and is on the float because of the hard work, the effort he put into his craft. And I just want to show him some love because he deserves it and he's that dude.
Jake Asmon
He was doing his thing, basking in Nick glory. So he deserved it. I'm happy for him. Also, I texted Pat o' Keefe some pictures I had of him because Pat, who's part of the Nick broadcast and obviously does shows on the station, he was on one of the, the floats that they had for the media covering it as well. So Pat was up there too. So we had Pat and we had Monty on floats. Monica was on a float to Allen, obviously on through msg, but pretty cool to see Pat up there with Jake Montgomery as well.
Ty Butler
Yeah, that was, that was really cool, man. Want to give a shout out as well to Tyler Murray and him and Monica McNutt. They just do it, man. Like they are exceptional. And I'm not just saying that because they air, they're the broadcasters on our station, but these videos that go viral that have just like captured the hearts of Nick fans and you know, just watching them, I think they've only been together two years, but it sounds like they've been doing games for 20 years.
Jake Asmon
Yeah, the big game moments that they've nailed is not easy to do every single time. Yeah, Tyler is as good as any young broadcaster out there.
Ty Butler
I would take out the young guy. He just is, he's just a great he's just great.
Jake Asmon
But he like, he. I think Tyler's like a couple years older than us. Like, he's a young dude. He is incredible. I mean, he's as good as any. And that's what's really cool when your team wins. Like everyone that's like around the team, it gets notoriety, gets a lot of attention. Like there was a, a feature that you could have if you were watching the NBA finals where you could sync up the radio call and have like a Nick cast version. Now, I think a lot of Nick fans probably felt like we already have Breen on the play by play. We don't necessarily need to do that. But a lot of the calls from Tyler and Monica were going viral with the video of them reacting from that feed. And it was really cool to see as a fan of the broadcast and a fan of those guys, how good of a job they do. Like to see that, you know, see like other teams around the country, see how just talented the Knicks broadcasters are. It was a lot of fun.
Ty Butler
And Monica is one of the best people you'll ever meet. Super sweet. We're at the Knick games, you and I, of course. Uh, and one of the things I do is I'll hang out on the bridge for the first half. I'll head to the ESPN suite. She'll come in there with our man Ray Santiago, and then you just chop it up with her. And she's just like a normal, down to earth person. Very, very sweet and just tremendous, tremendously talented. I love that she's got some flavor. And look happy. Juneteenth. Shout out to her. It's a holiday for us as a country, but more specifically for us, man, us. Us being able to be in this space and exist the way that we do and, and excel. So I just wanted to get to, to big her up as well. Um, great run, man. Great run for the Knicks. Great run for the whole squad. Mike Breen getting a chance to see the event. You see the people cheering bang at him.
Jake Asmon
There were bang chants in my area of the parade. Yo, pause. That's right. Little Freaky Friday. Mike Breen. Bang. We were yelling at him.
Ty Butler
Now imagine we could sync up, bring, bring, saying bang. As the toes were getting sucked.
Jake Asmon
Oh, I thought you were going to say something else.
Ty Butler
Oh, because you did see some twerking going on there.
Jake Asmon
I mean, there was a self defense mech, if you will, of a woman using her derriere to protect herself. And then things just got out of control in that video that you could readily find available online.
Ty Butler
What would you do if some some ladies just got so excited she started twerking on you, you would have just stood there and took it.
Jake Asmon
I mean, if I'm.
Ty Butler
Is it as you're the ass man,
Jake Asmon
is it a championship parade?
Ty Butler
Yeah, yesterday, I'm saying you're at this parade, this woman's excited and she's like, you know what, the hell with it. She starts shaking her tail feathers, I'm
Jake Asmon
in it's championship parade. Now if it was like a different parade, it was the Macy's parade. I could care less. Or if it's New Year's Eve, no thank you. I will never be there. But if you're telling me it's one of my teams winning a title, anyone who wants the twerk on me has every right to do so. If I'm there because one of the teams I root for one and all, I'm in.
Ty Butler
What's the best part of it? You're the ass man.
Jake Asmon
You got to embrace what got you here.

Here's the deal in Shinnecock out in Long island in the Hamptons area, Father's Day weekend as I stall to pull up the full leaderboard. All right, we have it. Wyndham Clark is still leading at 7 under. The next closest golfers tied for second place, Xander Shafley, 3 under, Matt Fitzpatrick, 3 under. Sam Stevens, 3 under, Colin Morikawa, Sam Burns and Ben James all tied for fifth at 2 under. And then here are some of the notables who are 1 under tied for 8. Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood, Keegan Bradley, Max Gracerman, among others. So pretty interesting leaderboards. Some other notables, Rory McIlroy is even. He is tied for 13th place in this one. So be interested to see how it plays out Father's Day weekend out in Shinnecock. If you're driving out there, good luck because I've heard from some friends who made the trip that the traffic is a nightmare. Now, you're a pretty big deal in these Jet streets, so if the jets somehow win a Super bowl, do you make the float?
Jake Asmon
I don't know how I'd get on the float, but I want to try and figure out a way.
Ty Butler
Ask Jake Montgomery.
Jake Asmon
I mean, apparently you got to run social media for ESPN New York.
Ty Butler
I mean, you're doing all these shows at the draft.
Jake Asmon
The jets don't like me right now though. I would hope that they won, right? I would hope that they won the super bowl. That my coverage of them would obviously be incredibly positive because I'm a die hard fan first and foremost. But I don't know if I'd be worthy of the float.
Ty Butler
You, Tierney and Samini can do the
Jake Asmon
podcast collective live from the float. I'll tell you what, if there's anyone who should be on the float, Fire Med Ed needs to be on the float. Joe Beningo needs To be on the float, shout out to Staten Island. Q Tip needs to be on the floor.
Ty Butler
Needs to be on the float. Man.
Jake Asmon
Method man would be on the float. This actually goes into a topic I brought up before the show. If your team of choice, your favorite team won a championship and you could be on the float, who would you want there with you? I'd want my dad because he's the reason I'm a Jet fan. My brother would need to be there. My best friend Dan, who is a crazy Jet fan. We've had Jet moments over the years together. There's like, a select few of, like, my Jet fan friends who I'd want there. And then I have to figure out, like, which a list celebrity that I'm a fan of. What I'd want to, like, bask in the glory and experience the jets going down the canyon of heroes. Would that be like, I want to
Ty Butler
be on that float with Q Tip and Method. That. That to me, would be the apex of my fan experience.
Jake Asmon
Q Tips are regular on my YouTube show.
Ty Butler
Really?
Jake Asmon
Yeah. I actually. I'm gonna have them on soon. But we. We. You know how Peter text with him too. And Don. I text with Q Tip somewhat regularly about the Jets.
Ty Butler
Yo, it's crazy. People say I sound like Q Tip.
Jake Asmon
Ryan.
Ty Butler
Ryan.
Jake Asmon
I can hear it a little bit.
Ty Butler
Our former program director, I love that man. He said, yo, you sound like Q Tip. And that is stayed with me forever.
Jake Asmon
You look like Mikhail Bridges. Yeah, you sound like Q Tip. And he is a true Jet fan, by the way. Like, I really respect. So like, Timothy Chalamet. I respect his Nick fandom. He's a genuinely, like, diehard Nick fan. Like, Q Tip is like that with the Jets. He. I mean, he. He'll text me about the kicking competition that's going on.
Ty Butler
I used to produce Q Tip's radio show on Apple Music abstract radio. So we. We do have. I. I never met him when I was over there. I'd love to meet him. You got to put me on a q tip 100%. I was gonna say something. Oh, how about this? So I mentioned that Wednesday Cassie and I were at Noah's school for his birthday party. How about this? So we're bringing in two boxes of pizza, and the assistant principal says to me, did anyone stop you on the street? And I just looked at her, like, perplexed. I didn't know what she was talking about. I said, about the pizza. No. She said, you look like Mikel Bridges.
Jake Asmon
You know what you should do, Ty? You should buy A Bridges jersey. And we should do a bid at the station where you're in full uniform walking around Manhattan. We'll get you mic'd up, get a camera on you. Montgomery and I could put this together. I think this would be hilarious. The amount of people we'd be able to fool. Especially if we went to like Times Square and it's tourists who don't realize people would legitimately think you are Mikhail Bridges.
Ty Butler
I considered showing up to the parade in a Mikhail Bridges jersey. You should pretending now come to find out I would have needed a dog and I'm deathly afraid of dogs. But pretending to be Bridges.
Jake Asmon
Do you drink tequila before 11am Like Mikael did the other day?
Ty Butler
Nah, I can't.
Jake Asmon
Definitely afraid of dogs.
Ty Butler
Yeah, definitely.
Jake Asmon
I did not know that.
Ty Butler
Yeah, I have a phobia.
Jake Asmon
All dogs.
Ty Butler
All dogs.
Jake Asmon
Even like tiny cute ones.
Ty Butler
It's not cute to me when you. It's not cute to a person who's got a phobia.
Jake Asmon
I was gonna say. You ever met Chloe? Tyler Kolek didn't even. Wasn't even safe at the parade.
Ty Butler
So I don't know if you looking
Jake Asmon
like Mikhail Bridges would have helped.
Peter Rosenberg
By the way.
Ty Butler
Crazy.
Jake Asmon
Was that reverse discrimination? Can I say the one white guy on the Knicks, he's having a good time running, Celebrated going crazy. The cops are about to arrest the man. He's on the team.
Ty Butler
Wait, what NBA player did that happen to? Like trying to get into an arena? They wouldn't let him in and like personnel had to come bail him out.
Jake Asmon
Didn't Jeremy Lynn say that happened to him?
Ty Butler
I feel like a. That happened to a former Nick.
Jake Asmon
It actually, it actually happened at a parade to hockey player Jake.
Ty Butler
You might be a Sam.
Jake Asmon
Was it Sam Gerard with Colorado? Trying to remember. I forget who it was. Somebody was like, you ain't on this team. It's like, yeah, I am.
Ty Butler
That's so messed up.
Jake Asmon
Wayne Crabbeck got locked out of the jet facility when he was a rookie. He had to explain, no, I'm actually on the team. Like he was a nobody at that point. Obviously as a.
Ty Butler
You want a championship, you're.
Jake Asmon
You're running around the crowd and they thought that, oh, it's just some like fan that just over jumped the barricade. Owen ByRam, that's who.
Ty Butler
Yo, imagine. Because you know the protocol at games is to tackle these dudes. So imagine he would have got laid out.
Jake Asmon
He came very close. If you look at the one cop, he was like starting to dip his shoulder.
Ty Butler
Oh my goodness. That's sad, but yeah, the Mikhail Bridges. See, the station should have sent me out there to interview Bridges. That would have been great content because they blasted the photo of me and me in the Bridges jersey at msg, which blew up. Should have had me there interviewing Bridges. I think that would have been you
Jake Asmon
just walking around though yesterday as Mikhail Bridges. The amount of people that would actually think you were Mikhail Bridges, it'd be off the charts. Mikhail Bridges wasn't even wearing his own jersey. He was wearing Tom Dadier's jersey. If you showed up wearing Mikhail Bridges jersey at the parade, people would actually think you're Mikhail Bridges.
Ty Butler
What if I just show up on Instagram live hammered out of my mind
Jake Asmon
when people ask about Jalen Brunson? You could just say, jb, you make a goat noise.
Ty Butler
Yo, Bridges, if you listen to the show, man, we should collab, you and I. We should do something. I think that'll be pretty, pretty cool. Anthony, looks like you were going to say something.
Jake Asmon
F10 picks.
Ty Butler
You think I'm worth five first round picks?
Jake Asmon
Absolutely. Yeah, definitely. F10 picks.
Ty Butler
Hurley trades fan trade five first round picks for Ty Butler. Oh, what are we doing here?
Peter Rosenberg
What's going on?
Jake Asmon
Now it's just picks. So ESPN New York acquires five first round picks and you go over the
Ty Butler
other station, Sean Marash.
Jake Asmon
That'd be an interesting trade. That'd be a very interesting trade.
Ty Butler
800-919-3776. Let's hit the people. They want to talk. Mike's in Rockland County. What's up, M?
Peter Rosenberg
What's up, Ty? What's up, Jake? How you guys doing?
Jake Asmon
Hey, Mike.
Peter Rosenberg
So listen, I wanted to circle back and expound on the Rosenberg fraudulent situation. I'm actually in a similar place where I have lived in New York for the past, gosh, 25, almost 30 years now. But not originally from here. I'm originally from Massachusetts. But unlike Peter, my boss in Celtic fandom has never wavered. Peter can't go back and forth. So, like, how about this? If the Celtics are good next year and they make it to the finals, he's all of a sudden a Celtics fan.
Ty Butler
Like, I don't understand.
Peter Rosenberg
No, his. Peter, if you're listening to the show, your Celtics fandom privileges have been revoked.
Ty Butler
Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
All right.
Ty Butler
Correct.
Peter Rosenberg
Forget about it. You're done. Okay. You can't go back and forth. We're not playing tennis here.
Ty Butler
Right?
Peter Rosenberg
Pick a team, stay with that team. That's what makes a fan a fan. Thanks, guys.
Ty Butler
I appreciate it. And what really disappoints me so much. I remember the Marcus Smart trade and how devastated Rosenberg was. And I had to talk about for less. I'm like, dog, your team just got infinitely better. As much as you love Marcus Smart, like, he was starting to wear down, they got better and I was proven right. They end up winning the championship. So for him to pull this is just disappointing. Like my wife asked me the other day, she's like, are you gonna convert to a Knick fan? I'm looking at her like, what the hell is wrong with you? I'm happy for the Knicks. I typically root for my picks to be right. Like, I picked the spurs in seven. I wanted that to be right. But once I saw what it produced for us in this city, it was amazing. So I'm not disappointed that I'm wrong. I was wrong in my Finals pick. Like, this has been fantastic, so that's one thing. But punting all my fandom, like, I could never do it.
Jake Asmon
You're not a die Hard. You're just a casual fan of that team. That's what it is. I love it.
Ty Butler
He called Rosenberg casual. They gotta clip that for him.
Jake Asmon
There's levels to fandom. I think Peter would even agree. He is a die hard Commanders fan. His fandom of the Commanders is way greater than any fandom of the Celtics or the Pittsburgh Penguins, I believe is the hockey team he roots for. I just think that's how it goes, right? Like, he was excited that when the Nationals won the World Series. But does Peter Rosenberg care about the Washington Nationals in 2026? After 2019, like, some fans are like that. Some mo. A lot of fans only have, like, one team. They're truly a diehard of, like, I think we're rare because we work in sports. Like, we. We have multiple teams that we live and die with, and a lot of people listening probably do too. But like most sports fans out there, I tend to find, have one team they care way more about than the other ones, and then they'll, like, jump on the bandwagon if there's a reason to root for that team to do
Ty Butler
well, you know what I struck, and I want to run this by you, What I struggled with. I was randomly thinking about this on my way here today. If you had asked me what team, like, what I most like to see win next, like, of my favorite teams, it would have been the jets, but there's something about the euphoria of the Knicks winning. Then I'm just like, nah, man. Like, I want to see the Lakers win again. That post Luca Trail, really?
Jake Asmon
The Lakers winning over the Jets. But the jets, it wouldn't be necessarily as big as the Knicks. Although football is the most popular sport, it still would be a massive deal. Like now that the Knicks have won, like the next scene that could win a title that would be the most unexpected or most unbelievable thing would be if the jets actually won it all. It wouldn't be the Jets. I mean, the Lakers you'd celebrate with just like, who, like how many Lakers fans are in your life.
Ty Butler
I don't care about that. I'm just saying what my heart wants. And I think. And again, I think part of it is experiencing the whirlwind of happiness and joy that this town has gone through the last week or so. And the other part of it is I can't actually picture the jets winning the Super Bowl.
Jake Asmon
I can't either, but I couldn't picture the Knicks winning a championship either.
Ty Butler
That fantasy, like, just. It's disruptive in my. In my brain.
Jake Asmon
It's just tough. If you want malfunctions, I get it. If you want to be positive and it's tough. The one thing the jets do have is they could sell hope to their fan base with the resources they have in place for the future. I can't give you much hope for 2026. I don't believe in the head coach, and I think Geno Smith's better than Justin Fields. But I'm not expecting Geno to be great. I think he could be better. He could be okay, competent, whatever. You have three first round picks, you have $150 million in cap space.
Ty Butler
But I hear this all the time.
Jake Asmon
I get it. But eventually, like, if you hit on the right player, like Brunson was the right player, the Knicks flipped it. They turned it around. They got the right coach in Thibodeau to instill a winning culture, and they built this, like, infrastructure in place and eventually Mike Brown got him over the top. Like, there. There's hope from the jets from the standpoint that they were a lot worse than the. The Knicks were a lot worse than the jets over the last 25 years. In many of those seasons, Woody Johnson's the same owner that went to the playoffs six times his first 10 years he owned the team. They were a half away from the Super bowl twice in 09 and 2010. So I, I'm. I'm not trying to tell you it's going to happen because again, they need a coach, in my opinion, and a quarterback, of course.
Ty Butler
Yeah, but they. Sounds important.
Jake Asmon
They're set up to at least have the resources for the quarterback and the job's attract prospective head coach a year from now.
Ty Butler
I've been saying this for a decade, so here's my problem.
Jake Asmon
That's what we said about the Knicks too.
Ty Butler
Yeah, but the Knicks hired Leon Rose. Who then did you like Darren Muji,
Jake Asmon
though I think he's done a nice job as the GM so far.
Ty Butler
Sure. But if they go 3 and 14 this year, like who's going to love Darren Muji? Like you just won five games in two years. Here's my point. So Leon Rose did something that, I mean is one of the most impressive. It's one of the most impressive runs we've seen. Like, Presti gets a lot of love, but what Leon Rose did did require some. I don't want to say luck, but good fortune. Right? Like it took the Mavs giving up on Brunson, it took Minnesota giving up on Cat, it took Toronto giving up on og, right? Like it took Durant wanting to go to Phoenix. And in order for that trade to happen, Bridges and Cam Johnson comes to the Nets. They stink. And now he's there for the take. So a lot of those things they were very fortunate enough to have happen. I just can't picture the jets being on the right end of that amount of good fortune. Like, I just can't see it.
Jake Asmon
It's tough. But again, if the Knicks could do it, there is hope. Because they were so down and about and into the abyss before Jalen Brunson showed up. The last 22 years, they won one playoff series. The jets, with Mark Sanchez as their quarterback, were a half away from the super bowl twice. Like, again, it doesn't feel possible, but it will flip. Sidekicker fans, join RJ Santillo and Ray Santiago of DPH on Rothenberg tomorrow, Saturday, June 20th for a watch party presented by Radeburger Pilsner. Watch the match between Germany and Ivory coast at Radagast hall and Beer Garden in Brooklyn starting at 4pm I should say enjoy Pilsner perfection since 1872. From the first German Pilsner come out, grab a cold Ratted Burger and join the energy with ESPN New York. That's RJ Santillo and Ray Santiago live at Radagast hall and Beer garden tomorrow, Saturday, June 20th. Brought to you by Ratted Burger Pilsner. There are people in the YouTube comments saying Ray Santiago should have been on a float and I agree.
Jake Asmon
Why wasn't he? Where was he for the parade?
Ty Butler
Was he here? Was he working? Yeah, he was working. So he wasn't at the parade?
Jake Asmon
Well, he was working in the morning doing the show.
Ty Butler
Yeah, but how is he gonna make it from 10am when there's a will?
Jake Asmon
There's a way to say he works at one of the local pizzerias and he's to get through now.
Ty Butler
I think he should have been there. He was the loudest voice on the station saying Fred Knott.
Jake Asmon
He should.
Ty Butler
He should have been denied.
Jake Asmon
I don't know how the parade process worked. Would Ray fall in the category of media? You would think he would. Yeah, he's on the he's part of the Nick broadcast.
Ty Butler
He's the producer of the Broadcast.
Jake Asmon
Pat o' Keefe was on one of the floats as media, so shouldn't he have been there with Ray?
Ty Butler
I think so. I. I'm in full agreement with you. 800-919-3776. We've got Peter Rosenberg calling in on line seven. Yo, Rosenberg. Holla at me, bro. What's going on? What's that?
Peter Rosenberg
What happened? My ears. My ears were ringing. I was at Calandra's. I'm minding my own business, luxuriating in another U.S. soccer easy victory as they coast to a second victory over Australia. To nothing. Two nil, if you will. Jake.
Ty Butler
It's hot.
Peter Rosenberg
Kristen from Calandra's has a. We have a smorgasbord of delicious Italian items. I'm sipping an adult beverage on a wonderful holiday. Juneteenth, celebrating a wonderful day. And. And then my ears start ringing because I heard from the streets that my quote unquote friend Ty Butler had me right in his sights and went right, right up and in pause on me today on the show.
Ty Butler
Hey, yo, listen, I had to. I pulled up and I plugged the morning show, so I did my due diligence. Right.
Peter Rosenberg
I heard the plug. No, no, thank you. That's nice. That's nice.
Ty Butler
I just was thrown off by you. We Celtics fan wearing a King of New York Jalen Brunson shirt. Larry Bird is turning over in his grave watching that show.
Peter Rosenberg
Me. Let me. Actually, I gotta be honest. I thought of you a couple times this week, but never. But never hit you up. And now I'm glad because you're obviously a terrible person. But I, I did, I did think about whether or not you were running the play of pretending you were not happy about this Knicks championship. Like, I was curious, is Ty going to be one of those Laker fans, an out of town fan who is like, no, this makes me sick. Or is he going to admit that given this is where his life is, seeing all the people around him happy, you got to admit it's bringing him some joy. So I throw the question right back at you. And Jake, I don't know if you posed this to Tyler, but, like, are you going with. You get no joy from this next championship?
Ty Butler
Oh, absolutely not. It was great for my career, man. Like, I was on SNY for two hours after the game chronicling. Chronicling one of the greatest moments in New York sports history. I picked the spurs in seven. I was dead wrong about that. But this has been a fun ride. I will say this though, Rosenberg, you would make a great politician because you did find a way to turn this into something that is going to be put on me. But let's get it back to you, brother. You wore that shirt. You're a Celtics fan. What's going on there? Are you dropping the Celtics? Are you a Knicks fan now? I see Derek Wrightson, some trade rumors, so maybe that's the reason why you're hopping off the bandwagon. What's going on?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, I will tell you one thing. If they move Jaylen Brown, it will not. It certainly will not further my. My Celtics love. But no, that's not in question. I have not said out loud, publicly, to anyone, or even in private when I run into people. I have not said I'm a Nixon. A matter of fact, I partied with the Knicks twice this week. Made up. I told them I'm not a Knick fan. I said those words to their face. I'm not a Knick fan, but I am so happy for you guys. This is so great. What a great team. And the truth of the matter is, and I believe, you know, I believe you guys are nuanced. Jake, Ty, you guys are people of nuance, of intelligence. I don't always have the privilege of talking to people like that. I mean, sometimes some of the people I work with have nuance and intelligence. Some of them are animals. Michael K. So I say all of that to say the Celtics are a team I've loved my entire life. They are not. I'm not from Boston. I do not have a connection. I spent a lot of time there because of family, but I don't have any deep connection to Boston. It's one of the cities that I know well and have spent time in. But it's not in my heart at this point, at 46 years old, to really act as if my, my fanship for this basketball team that's from a town that I'm not from, like, supersedes the excitement of this thing in the city that I love and call home. I. It just doesn't. It just call it sellout, call it fraud, call it maturity, but I know I'm not resending the Celtics. They are the team that I root for. I rooted for them last year, this year in the playoffs when they were awful, when Joe, when it really appeared as if Joe Missoula wanted to lose, still rooted for them. But guys that love did not like. I'm here for the show. I had a great time and I enjoyed it. And guess what? I don't feel bad about it. Not at all.
Jake Asmon
Here's the thing, Peter, I think you're a, like, Die Hard Commander fan, right? And I said when we talked about this with the Celtics, like, you're a fan of them, but you're not, like, living and dying with them. Like, you were the Washington Commanders. You'd never be seen wearing Giants gear. And I think you could be excited about the Knicks, but you lose the. The Die Hard label if you're wearing a Jalen Brunson shirt or Knicks gear on a.
Ty Butler
But that's all I'm saying, too, that you can be happy about a team and not wear a Knick shirt. I feel like you've been hanging with Eagle too long. Like, you're just becoming like, you know, the best fraud.
Jake Asmon
No, that's a fraud.
Peter Rosenberg
Now you want to talk about a fraud? That's a fraud. No, honestly, I hate to say this on Juneteenth of all days, but honestly, that's just Jake. That. That's just Jake saying it in a way that shows that he a nice guy and Ty's a bad guy. That's. So that's what we just.
Ty Butler
I'm looking out for my coach. I said, this is my bro. Like, off air. We have a friendship.
Jake Asmon
Like, I asked if you guys wind and dined ever, if you ever broke bread. He said yes.
Ty Butler
I said, I'm looking. I'm just disappointed. That's it. That's. I'm just disappointed.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, listen, I think it's fair. I am a life. I'm a lifelong Celtics fan. I have, I have the bootleg Reggie Lewis death T shirt. Okay. That I got when it. When he died. I've had it since 1995. Okay. I. I love the Celtics. I will forever root for them. And Larry Bird is my all time favorite athlete, maybe certainly basketball player. I love that team. But no, I think, I think Jake, in all seriousness, is right. Like the Die Hard label, that really probably applies to the Commanders. The rest are teams I love. But I'm not dying hard, which is why, frankly, seeing my wife legitimately screaming in ways guys that. I hate to say it, but, you know, we have a baby that's 17 months old. Seeing my wife scream in a way that I wish I was capable of making happen when the Knicks came back in one game four, that's probably more meaningful to me than the Celtics getting, you know, ring 19.
Ty Butler
I get what's happening. I get what's happening. Rosenberg. There was a couple of month period where people questioned whether or not you were from New York. So you're like, you know, what? Let me throw this Brunson shirt on to let them really know I am a New Yorker. That's really what happened, yo.
Peter Rosenberg
No matter what. See Jake? No matter what I say, he's a bad guy. No matter what I say, yo. Anyways, you guys sound great. Thank you.
Ty Butler
I appreciate you. That's Rosenberg. They'll be back on Monday. Don Hahn and Rosenberg, the fellas return.
Jake Asmon
Thanks for listening to the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast. I don't want to know how the sausage is made, man.

I just want to know.
Ty Butler
It's good.
Jake Asmon
