Are all batteries the same? That's like asking if all soccer players are the same. Take Messi, the most decorated player ever. Is there any other player who has achieved that? No, just him. Now take Duracell. Is there any other battery with powerboost ingredients inside? No, just Duracell. Remember, goats only trust goats because they're built different. And Messi only trusts Duracell.

ESPN New York's live coverage of the New York Knicks World Championship Celebration is brought to you by thrivewell Infusion, New York's premier infusion and ejection center. Saving lives drip by drip. 503 in the big city. We're live here from Stout, Don Hanna, Rosenberg at 6. And then it's Mets baseball. They start a series down in Philadelphia this weekend. We're off tomorrow, so we come back on Monday and we move on to the rest of the world. But right now it's about the Knicks, it's about the parade, it's about the celebration here at Stout. We're packed here. Another hour to go. 1-800-919-3776. Let's get back to the busy phones. Josh is in Connecticut. You're on ESPN New York. Hi Josh. Big Josh day today. Big run on Josh.
Alan Hahn
Hi Josh.
Josh (Caller)
I'm actually, yeah, a lot of Josh is here today. I'm from Greenwich, Connecticut and I gotta tell you, my life has been an absolute whirlwind. From being down in San Antonio, witnessing history in game five was. Blew my mind. And then getting up at 6:00 in the morning to head down to the city for the parade today, it's just been absolutely crazy, man. So exciting, so much fun. And I gotta tell you, today was wild. I left the chicks. I got to upper Manhattan around 7 o', clock, got downtown around 7:30. By that time all the barracks were closed. I couldn't get there. I found a lovely young lady with her, I don't know, 10 year old daughter. She told her daughter, she's like, all right, this guy is going to be our parade buddy. And we decided to make it happen together. And we climbed walls, we scaled walls, we went over police barricades, and somehow we were able to get pretty close to Broadway over on Cortland.
Gary (Caller)
And.
Josh (Caller)
And all these people were hanging out on top of these Department of Sanitation trucks.
Alan Hahn
Yes, I saw that.
Josh (Caller)
It was, it was wild, man. With one truck that was empty and everybody was earmarking that truck as soon as the cops left. But the cops were just doing what they could. Suddenly all these people bum rushed the gate, came through, the cops ran away, and then suddenly that was the green light.
Alan Hahn
They said, let him go.
Josh (Caller)
Everybody close as quickly as they could. I'm at the pov, the sanitation truck. For me, I'm a short guy, right?
Alex (Caller)
So it's good.
Josh (Caller)
I help out the lovely lady that I'm with and her daughter. And we got a pretty decent position in the front of the truck, kind of against the barricade. About three quarters of the way through the parade. There must have been like 15, 20 big people that were on the back of that truck on the flatbed, on the, on the flat part of it. There's a big loud noise. Suddenly people are starting to come down towards me and I'm like, oh my God, what's happening? I get off. We all get off. People are jumping off. It exploded. It opened up and it swallowed up about five or six people that actually went inside the top of the truck because it was so much weight on it.
Don Hahn
Wow.
Josh (Caller)
Oh my God.
Gary (Caller)
It was crazy.
Josh (Caller)
Thank God nobody got hurt. At least I don't think they did. But I saw some really big dudes climbing out of there, like, oh, man, what just happened? It swallowed those people up. Crazy, crazy stuff, man. But it was such a fun time. I really. I don't know how I'm gonna get back to reality. And I'm a real estate. In between the parade and going to the Yankee game tonight, I had a closing in Brooklyn at 3:00'. Clock. So life goes on.
Rosenberg
Well, thanks a lot, Josh. Sounded like you had quite the day. That's why we wanted to really open it up to the calls, to get the stories, to get the experiences. Since we're off at 6 o', clock, no enn today, we just wanted to take as many calls from people as possible, Especially so quickly after the parade.
Alan Hahn
I love, I love the stories we're getting from everybody in here in Stout as well. I love just talking to everybody and getting the experiences. I. I met a gentleman who just started crying. Yeah, it just, he. Right now, he just started a few. A little While ago, he came over and he just was weeping. He said he just can't stop crying. That's how much it means to him. And he was just weeping in front of me. I had to give him a hug. What a moment.
Rosenberg
No, it's that kind of experience for everybody, for sure. Let's go to Matt in the car. You're on. Don Hanna, Rosenberg. What's up?
Alan Hahn
Hey, what's up, guys?
Matt (Caller)
Thanks for taking the call. So, listen, I mean, I know today is a day. Can you hear me?
Rosenberg
Yeah, sure.
Peter
Oh, yeah.
Rosenberg
Oh, cool.
Josh (Caller)
All right.
Matt (Caller)
So I know today's a day of celebration, but I've been giving this some thought, and I'd really like to get your thoughts on it. You know, I wonder, you know, what is going to be James Dolan's legacy now after this happens? I mean, obviously, we know for the. For the past 20, 25 plus years, you know, there really wasn't much of a love affair between him and the city. Like, all we would hear about is how this franchise would never win. Would never win a championship with him as owner. And we know how everybody was calling for him to sell the team, and then he banned people from the Garden if they publicly said it. You know, and, you know, I'm just wondering, you know, what.
Gary (Caller)
What.
Matt (Caller)
What's that, you know, going to do for his legacy? And I really wanted to get your thoughts. Obviously, Han, with your connections with the Knicks and. And even Don, with you, obviously, with your. With your past with the Rangers. I'm just wondering what you think this is going to do to the fan base and the city. You know, when it. When they view James Dolan, you know, presently and going forward.
Peter
Funny, I would have asked the one person without any business connections to the Madison Square Garden.
Alan Hahn
Let's start with you.
Peter
I think that. I mean, first of all, legacy with owners is already like, what are we really, for the most part, what are we really talking about? It's not the same as a legacy with players or coaches or anything of that. Of that nature. But clearly we saw someone in George Steinbrenner who completely reversed the way the city thought of him. There was not a love affair with George. He was a punchline. Just go, watch Seinfeld, right? Like, that's what George Steinbrenner was. And then the core four happens, and the way he's thought of is now like, oh, my God, if George were here.
Rosenberg
Yeah.
Peter
So will he get to that sort of place? Well, that would require probably more than one championship. What one championship does, though, is says Whatever feelings you had about whatever negative feelings you may have had, you'll always now have this big but of. But he got us the championship eventually. That said, guys, if he were to add more to that and there were to be more championship, somehow it could be completely legacy defiant.
Rosenberg
What about you, Alan?
Alan Hahn
I, I think that that's the part that I'm waiting to see is the, the, the, the, the lovable George when he got older, but also the defiant George, the one that was willing to spend, the one that took on the league, did. Disagreed with things that happened, was very bombastic and would speak about it. But while he was winning, everybody loved it. And I think that's something you just saw today. I mean, something Jim did today was be a little rebellious.
Peter
And he's been that all week, kind of.
Alan Hahn
He has been. And, and I think now he can be. Because when you win now, you can swing it and nobody can say a damn thing to you. And so one thing I've. Look, all the criticism that he takes, the one thing I've always said is that the guy is always willing to spend whatever it takes to win. And not just on play players, but on all the infrastructure. Give me the best. So he went and got the best trainer. Casey Smith, he's a trainer of the year in the NBA and ever since he's come here, this team has had remarkable health. They've been very good at managing health and he's very good at that. Give me the best coaching staff. Give me the best of all the things that I could have. They are one of the best. They have Jordan Brink, who's one of the best at the reviews at challenges like the Knicks for two years now have been. I mean their, their record in challenges is always among the top three, top five in the league. So it's like, you just give me the best I can find, I'll pay for it, whatever it takes. That's why they were asking coaches who were already on the contract, can we talk to your coach? We want the best. And if we have to buy them out, we'll do it.
Peter
God, I forgot about, you know, that
Alan Hahn
was last year before they brought in Mike Brown. They were asking all these different coaches who were really good coach in the
Peter
league, but I just forgot about.
Alan Hahn
They were like, Jason kidding. A really good coach.
Peter
I forgot how, by the way, Jason
Alan Hahn
kid doesn't have a job now.
Peter
I forgot how down people, including myself were on their hiring process because it looked bad. It did at first. It looked really bad.
Alan Hahn
I was trying to explain to People, no, this is, this is them saying, this is big bank, take little bank. This is, okay, you guys have a great coach. We want a great coach. We're taking your coach, give us permission to talk to him. And they wouldn't do it. So they went through that before they. And again landing on Mike Brown still ended up being the best thing for this team. But he's always been like that. He's always been a guy who is defying about his team and protecting his franchise, protects it from the regional sports networks being pushed out by all the national games. He doesn't like that because he cares about MSG network. He cares about the fans getting their coverage from their local network and not being overrun by all these national things and the streaming services. He's been loud about that. He's also like, again, like, he's been loud about a lot of things that league's trying to do. He also is not thrilled about the revenue sharing system where I can give money to a small market team that doesn't spend it on players. What the hell is, what am I doing? Why am I giving you money to prop your franchise? Or I'm giving money to a billionaire in Denver and he wins and he wins an NBA title with my money.
Rosenberg
Right.
Alan Hahn
I don't feel good about that. So there were a lot of things that he didn't like and he spoke out about it. There's reasons why he's defiant against the league.
Peter
It does become more palatable when you win.
Alan Hahn
Being a rebel is suddenly appealing. So I'm curious to see if that version of him, now that he's a winner, does change the perspective that people have.
Rosenberg
About all it ever is, is do you win or do you lose? That's the only thing that you judge owners by. Because there was always a misperception about Jim Dolan because he didn't win. There were made up things. Like I would always argue, well, wait a minute, nobody's complaining on the Rangers side. When they go into the Stanley Cup Final, they're winning president's trophies. And then you would hear, well, that's because he doesn't care about hockey. Meanwhile, he did an article with Steve Surby last week and he said the thing that hurt him the most since he owned the Knicks and Rangers was a Chris Drury goal against the Rangers, you know, in the second round in 2007. He's passionate about hockey. But the fans didn't complain because the Rangers did well, the Knicks did. And there was the perception of, well, nobody wants to play for the Knicks Nobody wants to play for Dolan. Meanwhile, look at all, with the exception of Charles Oakley. Look at all the former Knicks that would come back. All those guys have a relationship with Jim.
Alan Hahn
You're so right.
Rosenberg
And now, but they still didn't win. So it was like there was that negative perception and now they've won. So now I think it has a chance to change. And Peter, maybe it doesn't take multiple because this one's going to live forever. You know, George Steinburn won four in five years. I get that. But the Yankees always had a winning pedigree. You didn't have to wait that long for the Yankees to win a champion.
Peter
But, but he won't. Here's what I'm saying.
Alan Hahn
Remember, he won right away too. He won in 77, 76, got there 77, 78, won him. That's early on in his ownership.
Rosenberg
Ten, he bought the team in 73.
Alan Hahn
That, that first gave him cachet, but then because of it, he got a little too ahead of himself.
Peter
So, so there's, there's a few things at play. Number one, it's going to be interesting to see how he is after winning. Yes, maybe, maybe, maybe winning is the deodorant and people will now start to like things. Maybe it affects him and he becomes even more erratic and it becomes a thing people don't like. We don't know.
Alan Hahn
We'll see.
Peter
But I'll say this.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter
Winning multiple times would truly change the headline. Whereas I think if he wins the one, it becomes a like, you know, Dolan was fine, he eventually won. Whereas you win multiple times, you completely turn it around. Of course, you're thought of as like you were a winning.
Rosenberg
When it comes down, he runs right
Alan Hahn
now the biggest business in sports, Madison Square Garden, number one, has two franchises. Both franchises are among the the most valuable in both their sports. And now one of them, which is the most valuable in the sport just won the NBA championship. So right now, like, he's got the
Peter
hammer, he's in a good spot.
Rosenberg
But the thing is, is that like, listen, the meddling can get in that sometimes where owners get in trouble. But it all is, do you hire the right people or not? And he got it right with Leon Roach, he got it right with World Wide West. I don't see where those guys are going anywhere anytime soon. Now, maybe one day, obviously they're not going to be here forever. But the point is, is that if the next regime comes in and it's a poor one and they start to lose, could it come back sure. But honestly, I don't see anything changing anytime soon. So right now I think the perception certainly changes.
Peter
Mid like early 70s.
Rosenberg
I don't even think it's that old.
Alan Hahn
I haven't checked lately.
Rosenberg
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Peter
No. 68 maybe.
Alan Hahn
I might be in that range. Yeah, yeah.
Peter
What do you say, Don? Tell me.
Rosenberg
Well, I'm going to look it up as soon as I can.
Peter
71.
Alan Hahn
So he certainly doesn't act. It doesn't, doesn't look it, you know, so I.
Peter
You.
Rosenberg
Right. So I think, listen, is it a 180? No, but it's certainly better because they won. Now what could be very interesting is as the Knicks have ascended to where
Peter
they are, you know, the Rangers missed
Rosenberg
the playoffs back to back years.
Peter
Right.
Rosenberg
So where does that go?
Peter
Could.
Rosenberg
Could it flip where now Ranger fans are complaining about him. All he cares about are the Knicks because the Knicks won. But I think his perception is going to change. Where I think a lot of people out there thought that that day was never ever possible.
Peter
Quick leaderboard update for you guys. Presented by Michelob Ultra. Ryder Cowan now at three under. Samson.
Rosenberg
So we had a Windham and a rider.
Peter
Yeah. It's interesting. These people. Bryson. Yeah, it's like they were they from birth. They were golfers.
Chris (Caller)
Yeah.
Peter
Bryson and then a Bryson. Bryson DeChambeau, also at two under. Xander Shoplay, two under as well.
Alan Hahn
So Spalding. Where's Spalding?
Peter
Rory. Rory. Rory McElroy. A lot of the big names now find themselves at the top of Shinnecock at the U.S. open. That's your leaderboard update brought to you by Michelob Ultra. Rosenberg
Chris, out in California, unless you got a quick plane, you probably watched it on tv. You're on ESPN New York. What's up, Chris?
Chris (Caller)
Hey. Hey, guys. Thanks for taking the call. Appreciate it. Transplant from Upper east side of Manhattan. 85th and 2nd. And yes, I did see the entire parade on the local stream of ABC7. So it felt like I was back home again. I was literally in tears when Alicia Keys came on.
Alan Hahn
Wasn't that great?
Chris (Caller)
Just did her rendition. I was like crying my eyeballs out. I took the day off today for that parade.
Alan Hahn
That's great. Yeah, that, that we didn't spend enough time on that. I thought that, that the way they closed it with Alicia Keys singing the Three. Like, the only one that was missing, of course, was Sinatra. But that those songs that she sang, starting with Billy Joel's New York State of Mind and then leading it into Empire State of Mind, which really, like, picked it up. And then as the cannon started shooting all the confetti, which I've never been in that kind of an environment before. It's really amazing when you're sweating how much confetti can stick to your skin. Like, it's like you just, like it's everywhere on your face. You don't even realize you're talking to somebody. They're like, yeah, you got it all over. But like, that was such a mo. And then as everybody's kind of getting up, they play Sinatra. And I told you, game four, when they played Sinatra, the whole court stopped. Everybody just started singing. After that, game four, they play the Sinatra, New York, New York. Carl Anthony Towns grabs the microphone as. Because, you know, they were leaving the stage. And he just starts belting out the song along with the crowd. And it was like, again, these are just different moments. You just look up and there's Carl Anthony Towns. And he's just singing word for word. The, you know, start spreading the news. I'm leaving today. And he's just going. And he's just in a moment.
Peter
Well, and it reminds you. When I was watching, it reminded me he's another guy where this is not just a random team and stop for him.
Alan Hahn
No, this is personal.
Peter
And you saw it obviously in Alvarado, but you see it also with Brunson. You know this. They're really connected to this team in
Alan Hahn
a blood in the ground.
Peter
The blood in the ground does matter sometimes. In this case, I don't know that you. You just don't see very often that the teams are truly that connected to the place they're playing.
Rosenberg
And it hit.
Peter
If you have not watched the whole thing, I really Recommend get on YouTube when you get home and watch the speeches.
Alan Hahn
I'm sure MSG is going to play this in the loop. Oh, wow.
Peter
It was really good stuff.
Rosenberg
And his story, I remember all those conversations we had. He's likely going to be in a Giannis deal if the Knicks don't make the playoff or if the Knicks fail early in the playoffs. And not only has he got blood in the ground, he spent the majority of this regular season thinking that he wasn't going to be here. And now we're talking about his number getting retired. Right. Like you, Peter was really on this early about just thinking of, is there anybody transformation took that 180 transformation to one foot out the door to now being a forever player. And he's certainly young enough that you know, if they can keep him here for any length of time, his number is going to get retired. He's going to be a forever nick and he was five minutes away. A couple of bad games maybe in the regular season, down to one against Atlanta to now he's going to be a piece to go get Giannis or some other big player.
Peter
He was gigantic throughout the middle part of the playoffs. And I'll always point this out to me the moment in game four in that comeback, they could not get over the hump at 15. He hits the falling down three to cut it to 12. Remember this is after being completely useless in the fourth quarter for the last couple of games. Yeah, he scores five points in that fourth quarter, that stretch and it was so big. And also I just curious, I wonder how many people here are still like just for a little bit of perspective, I'm sorry, A lot of people are still upset about the RJ Barrett trade.
Alan Hahn
Oh, oh yeah, Everybody upset.
Peter
You sure you wanted OG Anunoby?
Alan Hahn
Wait a second.
Peter
Because you could still have RJ here.
Alan Hahn
Oh, you know what we did. We haven't even gone here yet. I can't believe it took this long. Does anybody care about those draft picks anymore? That for Mikhail Bridges.
Peter
Oh, the draft picks for Bridges.
Alan Hahn
Are those draft picks worth it now?
Peter
It's just a reminder.
Alan Hahn
It's amazing, isn't it?
Peter
We have a saying on my wrestling podcast, Cheap Heat. If we try to make, if we try to get too into a storyline, like something happens on an episode of Raw and we're like, I don't like this. My co host, Stack Eye Greg always says lipo, let it play out.
Alan Hahn
Thank you.
Peter
See if it ends up going somewhere. I know we have to fill time on sports talk radio every day. Knicks fans were so upset that trade to get OG and in the end,
Alan Hahn
because they loved, they loved quickly. And I get by the homegrown players
Peter
by the way, quick. He was a great. He was a really nice Knick and RJ was a. Was a really sweet kid with a lot of potential and you drafted him high and all that stuff. But in the end, guys, they do not win a championship without OG Anuno. That is a fact. Since he got here, his availability, we talked about the stats you look at when OG is playing, what their record is. The team wins when OG Anunoby plays.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter
So as important as Brunson is, there's no title without OG.
Alan Hahn
That's correct.

It's one of their alternate uniforms for the Somerset Patriots.
Peter
Okay.
Rosenberg
And Marco goes to me dad or daddy. That Zorros hat is a Patriots hat and the Patriots are part of the Yankees organization.
Peter
He's calling you fraud.
Rosenberg
And we're going to a Mets game. So I took the hat off and I bought a new met hat. I always get a new mat hat every few years because they get old and a regular. Yeah. Oh, the fitted.
Unidentified Caller
Yeah.
Rosenberg
And but so New Era is great. These hats are tremendous.
Peter
New Era is that that they're the hat company. These hats are tremendous. I was going back and forth between the one you're wearing, which has the Larry O. On it, and mine that I'm wearing now. Which is the locker room.
Rosenberg
Yeah, the locker room. And Jake Aspen is out in the crowd. He's wearing the one that's in the locker room. I like this one better because it's got the Larry O says champions think it's really nice. So they do a great job no matter what it is. So get them. You got to get the merch. There's part when you win a championship, it's a requisite. But there is something that the modern era championship doesn't have that I enjoyed when I was younger.
Peter
Okay. The commercial immediately afterwards for the shirt.
Rosenberg
No okay. Is recording everything on VHS. I got these old VHS, like when the Mets won the World Series in 86. I got, I got the celebration, the locker room celebration, because I didn't dare tape the game. I didn't want to jinx it. I did get it later, though. I got the whole parade on VHS anytime any player made appearances. Like, what do you do now? Just throw it on your dvr. But then you can't, like, keep it. Something's always going to happen with the dvr. Right. It gets too full.
Peter
Not your, your giant super bowl still on there.
Rosenberg
But. Yeah, but I, but I, I think I did get.

No, he, he's. He's actually now creating some anxiety in my brain.

Rosenberg
No, it's interesting is that I, I kept all, like, I kept my board and all the stat sheets and everything. Yeah. But there's no game. I can't fill up the DVR with, you know, 68 games. They don't have room for that.
Peter
And you didn't like it. DVDs of all the games. Game.
Rosenberg
That's like.

Yeah.

Chris (Caller)
Right.
Alan Hahn
But I might be horrified if I see myself on camera at that point.
Rosenberg
It is weird because I don't know if you've gone through this with any of the games, but like, now it's the off season, so MSG will throw up a best of. So they'll throw up like the great Devil game from the regular season.
Charles Barkley (Advertiser)
Yeah.
Rosenberg
And so it's like, weird. Like, there it is. Like, I can watch myself hear yourself. It's just weird. It's one thing to listen to yourself and like to watch yourself Too very. That's why I wanted to step up my game with the Robert Graham.
Alan Hahn
The Robert Graham, by the way, is making you just.
Caller or Guest
It's taking.
Peter
You're doing a great job now. Now, by the way, you were talking about the Merchant, a company that does great merch. In fact, they're setting records right now as fanatics.
Alan Hahn
Yes.
Peter
And this July 16th through 19th, the biggest weekend in sports has taken over New York City. Fanatics Fest nyc, the world's number one sports fan festival is back. And it's going to be different this time. It's not just going to be John Cena and Danhausen you're talking about. Your world champion New York Knicks are going to be there as well. Photo ops, collectibles. So much people have been speculating about what the price point was going to be. Meet and greet for Jalen Brunson, because basically what happens is the talent that. That appears. They each have different rates for pictures, autographs, whatever it is. And then they have an amount of slots. Right. And I think last year, Cena was one of the biggest ones. It was his retirement run and it was 400 bucks, something like that. And the guide went through a ton of them.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter
Jaylen Brunson, I'm guessing, will be the biggest person at Fanatics Fest this year,
Alan Hahn
especially because it's in New York.
Peter
It's in New York as well.
Caller or Guest
You're.
Alan Hahn
You're going to get.
Chris (Caller)
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
You're going to get a large. Like a. A. Yeah. He might have the highest demand of any player, any athlete that's going to
Peter
be at this event and enter for a chance to win a pair of tickets in the ESPN New York app. Find the contest tile to submit your entry. And don't forget, him and Josh are also doing the roommates podcast thing tomorrow.
Alex (Caller)
And.
Peter
No. And at fanatics.
Alan Hahn
Oh, at fanatics, that's right.
Rosenberg
Wow.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, they do it. They've done it every year.
Peter
They listen. They're, you know.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter
That's what makes this team.
Alan Hahn
Again, these guys have taken like, the audience. They're so good at media. They control their own media. They're really entertaining together, the two of them. Like, this is such a cool story. This is a. This is. It's like a buddy movie happening in real life right in front of us.
Rosenberg
Yeah, it's awesome.
Alan Hahn
Two buddies, two roommates that got. They ended up show up in New York, play for a franchise, hasn't went winning 50 years, and, you know, let's mess around and just win a championship. Yeah, that's pretty cool. Hey, let's do a podcast. It's gonna be ridiculously successful and entertaining. Yeah, we'll do that too. And get all A list stars to come on with us. Sure, we can do that.
Peter
Isn't it. Isn't it funny too, of the. Of the big Four? Because I. And not that Bridges. Bridges is right there. But I really do think it's the big four on this team.
Rosenberg
Right?
Peter
It's. It's Brunson, Hart, og OG and Cat.
Chris (Caller)
Right.
Peter
I do think they're the big, big four of the biggest.
Alan Hahn
Biggest.
Charles Barkley (Advertiser)
Yeah.
Peter
They all have a different way about them. Each one is different. Like, I mean, you know, Jalen Brunson is. Is this sort of serious at times, but also can be a goofball.
Alan Hahn
Is. His wit is razor sharp and it's dry humor. But when it hits and when he's
Peter
comfortable with someone, you could see how much he likes to goof around.
Smalls (Advertiser)
Yeah.
Peter
Same with Josh, who can be ser. And then you have og, who we know is always this straight face, doesn't smile very much.
Alan Hahn
That's why when he does show emotion, it's almost entertaining and endearing.
Peter
Right.
Alan Hahn
Because he never does. But when he does, you're like, whoa.
Peter
But then you. But then you have Cat, who is all smiles, super sweetest human being, super affable. It's funny. I was texting with my cousin earlier today about. He was asking me about the parade this morning. My cousin, he's a huge Celtics fan. And I was saying. I said, oh, I saw the guys the other night. He's like, oh, what were they like? I said, cat, as you can imagine. And my cousin is a big basketball mark. Like, just a huge basketball guy. He's like, oh, Cat, the guy has never been in question. Like, there have been questions about his game.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter
But Carl Anthony Towns, the human being.
Alan Hahn
Yes.
Peter
Has never been questioned. He's been a sweetheart of a kid. Of a kid coming out of college and through his entire career. And now that's why it makes you feel so good that he found it as a player, too. Like, that doesn't always happen.
Alan Hahn
I haven't had a chance. I saw his dad, but I didn't get a chance to talk to him because it's just such, you know, there's so much going on. But I'd really love, like, maybe we'll try to get him on. And we had Rick Brunson on, like, the dad. The dad stories in this. But to get Carl Anthony Townes dad on. To get Carl Townes Sr. On,
Chris (Caller)
because
Alan Hahn
I remember when he first came, before he came to the Knicks, he was playing for Minnesota. We did a preseason game. He was sitting courtside, right next to us at the table. I was calling the game. And during halftime, I just had small talk with him, and I was just saying, like, you ever imagine, like, your son playing in this building for the Knicks? And he goes every day.
Rosenberg
Wow.
Alan Hahn
It was like, every day. It's what. Is what his mother wanted.
Chris (Caller)
Wow.
Alan Hahn
And then he got traded here, and then I saw him, and I said, dream come true. And it's just he. He was. He's so proud of his son and what he's done and the fact that he was a player who tried to make the Knicks. He had a tryout, broke his ankle, couldn't go, and he said, it wasn't my turn. It's his turn. So all of this is for him. Like, I'll take that. I'll break my ankle and not have my shot so he could have this shot, bro. I. I really would love to talk to him right now just to see where his emotions are with this whole thing, because that man, who's been through a lot, lost his wife. Like, he. This has got to be for him the ultimate moment. Right. The ultimate. To see his son at this pinnacle.
Rosenberg
And I. I thought about it the other day because, like, it kind of got lost, but in the man cave. Right. When I do the show, when I work from home, during the K show, we had a conversation. I was like, you know, I love those Seattle uniforms when they wear the bright green jerseys.
Alan Hahn
Yep.
Rosenberg
So it's like, I'll put it in the background. I love it. I'll get. I'll get a Russell Wilson jersey. And then I said, you know what? I love when the. The T. Wolves wear those jerseys. I'm gonna go get a jersey.
Chris (Caller)
The. The. The.
Alan Hahn
The actual.
Rosenberg
The.
Alan Hahn
What are the pine trees? Like, whatever that is, though. That jersey.
Chris (Caller)
Yeah.
Rosenberg
And. But. But that fluorescent green.
Alan Hahn
Yes.
Rosenberg
Jersey. So I bought, if you remember, and I got. I didn't care about the size. I just liked the jersey. So I got a towns jersey.
Peter
I've totally forgotten.
Charles Barkley (Advertiser)
Remember that?
Gary (Caller)
Yep.
Rosenberg
And just go into it. I get the task, so I have it.
Alan Hahn
We got to get that signed.
Rosenberg
Yeah, I will. Because you know what? It's going to be Marcos, because it never fit me. It was I. Because I didn't care about the size. Just wanted to display in the background during COVID We got to get that.
Peter
How about this?
Rosenberg
Your home?
Peter
Take a look at this picture and date. I just found that didn't even know I had my phone.
Rosenberg
Peter just handed the phone over to Alan.
Alan Hahn
2010.
Peter
No, 16.
Alan Hahn
The six.
Peter
You've had a few beverages.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, I'm a little blurry.
Peter
Long day.
Rosenberg
Blurry. And then the 6 was probably not
Peter
even wearing the beautiful glasses from Sunglass. You're just. That's just. You not be able to see.
Alan Hahn
That's Calipari. I see.
Peter
Yep. I didn't remember he was there too, but that was in Bristol, so, you
Alan Hahn
know, that's a great shot. You know Carl also, when he was at St. Joseph's in Metuchen, do you know that he once held a MSG Networks microphone?
Alex (Caller)
Wow.
Peter
No, As a kid.
Alan Hahn
As a kid, it was part of, like, you know, like the. The MSG varsity thing where you take a high school athlete who wants to be in the business, the media business, and they gave him a microphone, let him interview players after a game. The Knicks were playing, I think it was the Thunder that day. And Kevin Durant was there. He wanted to interview Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant granted him an interview. And there I have this picture. I don't think I still have it on my phone. A picture of Carl Anthony Towns with an MSG varsity. Mike Flagg interviewing Kevin, by the way.
Peter
I remember that. I think it ended up going a little bit viral later, like during his college career. That was when he was in high school.
Alan Hahn
Yes, he was. He was, I believe, a junior or senior in high school. He was still relatively young.
Peter
I feel like. I feel like when he became a star at Kentucky or got drafted, that became a viral thing.
Alan Hahn
There it is.
Rosenberg
That's cool. Look at him.
Peter
He's a baby.
Alan Hahn
Isn't that crazy? That's got to be junior year at best.
Chris (Caller)
Right?
Alan Hahn
And so it all comes from the circus. So that's the. That's the blood in the ground we've been kind of talking about, like, with a lot of these guys, it's just there's something. And if it's not blood in the ground because you were born here, maybe it was because Leon Rose knew you when you were a kid or. Or like something. There was always something.
Caller or Guest
Or.
Alan Hahn
Or one of the guys on the team knew you and there was a personal connection of, no, we need to have that guy on our team. Whether it was Mikhail Bridges, who just knew Landry Shamit well.
Peter
And they have. I know this dude, but they have double blood in the ground. Right. You have these Nova guys who have blood in this other ground.
Alan Hahn
There's that, too.
Peter
And then it'll be Interesting, because like Don just pointed out earlier with the Rangers, you never know. You know, Jordan Clarkson. Clarkson might just be a hired gun. He's here quickly. You never know who ends up staying. Obviously they're not all staying.
Alan Hahn
Right.
Rosenberg
Oh, it's hard, the business. We don't get back to it. Right.
Alan Hahn
But now you know the type of players you need to bring in.
Duracell Advertiser
Correct.
Alan Hahn
You might say, like, that guy's not as good as this guy. Yeah, but this guy fits better.
Rosenberg
And now it's a destination and everybody's
Alan Hahn
going to want to be a part. I'll take less to come play for
Rosenberg
the Knicks and audition to be a part of this.
Alan Hahn
Yep.
Rosenberg
Because if Leon Rose wants me, then I must be something special. What a party.
Rosenberg
And at that time.
Alan Hahn
What a party.
Rosenberg
At that time, we're going to hand it off to the Mets. But right now, Peter, talk to me about anything, really.
Peter
Well,
Alan Hahn
are you sure?
Rosenberg
Yeah.
Unidentified Caller
All right.
Peter
How about Fanduel? Is that what you like to talk about?
Rosenberg
Why not?
Alan Hahn
You love Fanduel.
Peter
It's the biggest stage in the world. And Fanduel's changing the game because sometimes your player gets subbed off and your bet goes with them, but not anymore.
Rosenberg
Yeah, that's.
Peter
That's right. But Fanduel and this could happen tomorrow. Nobody likes that, you know, you didn't know that Pulisic was going to get subbed out in the first game for the usa, but he did.
Rosenberg
Still didn't know.
Alan Hahn
But he's been. He's been training on his own. He's supposed to play. Right.
Peter
See that Pulisic's working on. He's gonna be all right. But if let's.
Alan Hahn
I'm doing my homework.
Peter
Everything about the fact how close his name is to Pusick.
Rosenberg
Very close. But I'd rather. I'd rather.
Alan Hahn
Does he had the Pusick, though?
Josh (Caller)
No.
Rosenberg
And I have a World cup question when you're done with that.
Peter
I can't wait for that. But guys, if. If he were to get subbed out, your bet stays in. Think about that. So the bet continues on. When the sub comes in, you're in it till the final whistle. Canada's taken on guitar.
Peter
Yeah. Cutter to you and me.
Gary (Caller)
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
No, it's guitar to you and me, right?
Peter
It depends who you ask.
Rosenberg
Well, I'm asking you. All right, people.
Peter
Cutter say Cutter, I believe. Actually, no, they don't. They say Cutter.
Alan Hahn
That I might say.
Matt (Caller)
Okay,
Rosenberg
what do you got? Canada on the ticket. Their games in Vancouver. That's a huge break for kids.
Peter
But no, US Is at home. They're all considered hosts. So the US Is playing at home. Canada's playing at home.
Rosenberg
And Mexico's. Mexico's playing because he learned something new every day.
Alan Hahn
I did not know this.
Peter
That's right.
Alan Hahn
So all their games are going to be in.
Peter
In this. In this round.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter
After that, I don't know how it
Alan Hahn
stacks up, but in the knockouts, you're. You're a home team.
Peter
But right now, they're playing in their home country. I did not know that. Yeah, and you all qualify, too.
Alan Hahn
Look at this.
Rosenberg
Well, that I knew.
Peter
Auto qualifier.
Alan Hahn
This is why you listen to this show.
Rosenberg
I listen.
Peter
You're worried about poor Cutter. They're not playing at home, I think.
Rosenberg
Canada.
Alan Hahn
Oh, I'm excited.
Rosenberg
Canada tied Bosnia when we were over.
Peter
Well, because it was too much Herz.
Rosenberg
Kavina was. What didn't they end up tied? The show we did on Friday.
Alan Hahn
It was not enough, Herina to.
Gary (Caller)
Today.
Peter
Yeah, today. Not enough for last game. Too much.
Rosenberg
Switzerland was feeling, by the way, you
Peter
know, Switzerland scored again while we were talking.
Rosenberg
It was 4:1. Yeah, it's.
Peter
They poured it on.
Alan Hahn
Poured it on, poured it on. They pulled the goalie. By any chance, was it like an empty?
Peter
They don't do that very often.
Rosenberg
Well, you're down three. You know, you just. You give up the go. The goalie might have just wandered off because he knew it was over. All right, last call, crew 1-800-919-3776. We're live here at stat. Take you up until 6:00'. Clock. Then it's Mets baseball on ESPN.

So what's up baby?
Alan Hahn
You guys didn't react?
Caller or Guest
Don Peter Allen Brunson and Tom Brady. Brunson and Brady both came out unheralded. Nobody looked at them. Then they got their breaks by happen Chance Brunson, of course. Free agent Dallas let him go. Brady. Drew Bledsoe got knocked out. Then they stay on teams and want to win so badly that they take less money from the owners. That's unbelievable. Those three Things. That's unbelievable.
Chris (Caller)
Alan.
Caller or Guest
Approve. I listen to every word you say. The Knicks in 71, they lost to the Baltimore Bullets in seven. And I remember that game. Game seven was on television. They didn't lose to Milwaukee. Milwaukee went to the Western Conference.
Alan Hahn
Did I say they lost?
Caller or Guest
I listen to everything you say.
Alan Hahn
All right, so I screwed up. Everything you did, I screwed up.
Caller or Guest
Reminds me of Charlie Finley. Finley was a buffoon. Then he started winning a little bit. Then he became a buffoon again. But so far, Dolan's at the. At that point where he's a buffoon. Now he's starting to win. Let's. Let's see what happens. Peter, do you still think AI is better than jb? I asked you that question three months ago.
Peter
I still think AI is better than jb. Yes, Allen Iverson has. Is a different level athlete than Jalen Brunson. But Jalen Brunson has now already surpassed him in terms of clutchness, winning. I mean, but Allen Iverson, you're talking about a guy who was a borderline, maybe could have went on to become an NFL quarterback who was a star. Point. I mean, he was a freak of an athlete.
Alan Hahn
Great athlete. But it's the example that you gave earlier in the show about all the other elements that you bring to be a face of a franchise. Allen Iverson was the face of the Sixers franchise. Got him to an NBA Finals, but reluctantly so. But all the other things, he just wasn't. I think that's got to be in the calculation.
Peter
And I think my guess would be if you were to talk to AI about that, at this point, he'd probably say he wasn't built at that age the way Jalen Brunson.
Alan Hahn
No question.
Peter
And, you know, for Al, it was complicated for him, even coming in from high school.
Alan Hahn
Obviously, he had a different upbringing than Jalen Brunson.
Peter
He had a very different upbringing.
Charles Barkley (Advertiser)
Yes.
Peter
Down in Virginia than Jalen Brunson did, for sure. It's.
Alan Hahn
It's why Brunson always. Because I think his awareness of how there's a different path for a lot of other athletes. It's why he constantly credits his parents.
Peter
Yeah, he's aware of it.
Alan Hahn
What they did, he definitely is aware of. Like, I know I had something that a lot of these guys didn't have in their life.
Peter
But you have to understand also for Richard's question, like, to me, and this is by product of, you know, age. Iverson went to Georgetown. For my money, he may have been. Don loves talking pound for pound. Allen Iverson might have been pound for pound the most talented player I ever saw.
Alan Hahn
I would. Yes.
Peter
So you know, that's a tough state. You're type to me talent wise, he's up there with anyone. Kobe, Jordan, no question. So it's a different kind of thing.
Alan Hahn
Absolutely is. I agree with you there.
Rosenberg
All right, let's go back to the busy phones. Let's talk to Gary and White Plains. You're on ESPN New York. Oh boy.
Gary (Caller)
Guys, gentlemen, love the show, love all the interviews that you during the week.
Alan Hahn
Thanks, man.
Gary (Caller)
You know what you say about, about kids, especially toddlers, they're like sponge. You gotta watch what you see around them. So I heard what you were saying about Mike Brown not letting go of.
Duracell Advertiser
Of the.
Gary (Caller)
The song.
Matt (Caller)
Yeah.
Gary (Caller)
So it's game five. The next one is me and my three year old son and I'm trying to celebrate by opening a bottle of Blue label and he's dead tired trying to sing on to me for me to come to him. So finally picked him up, took a sip of the blue label and Mike Brown started to talk in the post game, you know, started singing a song. I'm hearing him mumble the song, mumble the words. Two days later he found the song on YouTube and that's like one of his favorite song right now. I don't know how he found it on YouTube, but he loved that song Right now.
Alan Hahn
Now he loves the song. How old is he credit for that?
Gary (Caller)
Three year old.
Josh (Caller)
Three year old.
Alan Hahn
Three year old.
Rosenberg
Wow. I never thought that. Dogs out.
Alan Hahn
It's gonna make a comeback. It's coming back.
Rosenberg
Donnie Feels like it's coming back.
Alan Hahn
Oh, the Mets are going to play it at their next home game, right? Right.
Rosenberg
They'll bring it back on the dugout. How old are they? That was 25 years ago. Thanks, Gary.
Alan Hahn
Time ago.
Rosenberg
Let's keep it at arm's length if we could. Let's go to Alex and Queen. Johnny, ESPN New York. What's up, Alex?
Alex (Caller)
Yo, what's up guys? Rosenberg, I love you guys. First time, long time.
Rosenberg
Awesome.

Don't make it your last time.
Alex (Caller)
Nah, definitely not. Guys, I'm over here. I want to let you know I was at the parade today. I had a great time. I saw Han over there tossing shirts out. I love you over there. Rosenberg, I don't know where you was at. I saw Styles and Ricardo over there going on their way to, to the float or something.
Peter
No, they were, they, they actually lucked out. They had what happened, what I was hoping would happen. They ran into someone who could Help them get through.

I didn't run into someone who could help us get through, so we were stuck.

I won't say who he is exactly, but he got us to the. The front of the vip. We had a great time. Saw the whole parade. Saw everybody.

Episode: Hour 3: Recapping the Knicks Parade
Date: June 18, 2026
Hosts: Don La Greca, Alan Hahn, Peter Rosenberg
Location: Live from Stout, NYC
This hour is a victory celebration for New York Knicks fans in the immediate aftermath of the team's first NBA championship in over 50 years. Don, Hahn and Rosenberg are posted up at Stout, soaking in the post-parade euphoria, taking calls from fans with personal parade stories, and reflecting on the cathartic moment for the franchise and city. Key topics include fan experiences, James Dolan’s changing legacy, and the emotional connections among this Knicks team.
“It exploded. It opened up and it swallowed up about five or six people...I saw some really big dudes climbing out of there, like, oh, man, what just happened? It swallowed those people up. Crazy, crazy stuff, man. But it was such a fun time.” (Josh, 04:04)
“I met a gentleman who just started crying...He said he just can't stop crying. That's how much it means to him. And he was just weeping in front of me. I had to give him a hug. What a moment.” (Alan Hahn, 04:47)
(06:00 – 13:40)
“There was not a love affair with George...And then the Core Four happens, and the way he’s thought of is now like, ‘oh, my God, if George were here.’...Will he get to that sort of place? Well, that would require probably more than one championship. What one championship does, though, is says—whatever negative feelings you may have had, you’ll always now have this big but: But he got us the championship eventually.” (Peter, 06:32 – 07:33)
“He’s always willing to spend whatever it takes to win. And not just on players, but on all the infrastructure. Give me the best... They are one of the best. Since he got here, this team has had remarkable health...He doesn’t like the revenue sharing system...Why am I giving you money to prop your franchise? Or...a billionaire in Denver and he wins an NBA title with my money.” (Alan Hahn, 08:01 – 10:31)
(15:17 – 17:13)
“I was literally in tears when Alicia Keys came on. Just did her rendition. I was like crying my eyeballs out...” (Chris, 15:47)
“That was such a mo...he just starts belting out the song along with the crowd...these are just different moments.” (Alan Hahn, 15:54 – 17:13)
(17:13 – 19:44, 29:44 – 36:28)
The deeply rooted connection of Knicks players to NYC:
Brunson, Hart, Anunoby, KAT—described as “blood in the ground” for their non-superficial ties to the city, the franchise, or each other (e.g. Villanova connections, local family roots).
“The blood in the ground does matter sometimes. In this case...you just don’t see very often that the teams are truly that connected to the place they’re playing.” (Peter, 17:28 – 17:39)
Transformation of roles:
Players once thought as trade candidates (ex: KAT) now revered as icons destined for jersey retirement.
“Now we’re talking about his number getting retired...his number is going to get retired. He’s going to be a forever Knick...” (Alan Hahn, 17:52)
Revisiting trades and roster construction:
Reminding fans, in light of the title, why risky moves (like trading for OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges) were worth it despite the cost in youth and picks.
“Knicks fans were so upset, that trade to get OG, and in the end...they do not win a championship without OG Anunoby. That is a fact.” (Peter, 19:50 – 20:28)
(25:38 – 27:37)
“There is something that the modern era championship doesn’t have that I enjoyed when I was younger...recording everything on VHS...Like, what do you do now? Just throw it on your DVR. But then you can’t, like, keep it. Something’s always going to happen with the DVR.” (Rosenberg, 25:34 – 26:07)
“That’s a great point...How am I saving this parade moment?” (Alan Hahn, 26:11 – 26:15)
(27:39 – 29:44)
(29:44 – 32:52)
Unique personalities, tight bonds:
Each of the core four—Brunson, Hart, OG Anunoby, Karl-Anthony Towns—bring something different temperamentally and culturally, creating a rare, authentic chemistry.
“They all have a different way about them. Each one is different. Jalen Brunson... sort of serious at times, also can be a goofball...OG, who we know is always this straight face, doesn’t smile very much...But then you have Cat, who is all smiles, super sweetest human being, super affable...” (Peter, 30:02 – 31:11)
The “Blood in the Ground” narrative is expanded, including family ties—Alan relays interactions with KAT’s father and a story about Towns interviewing NBA stars as a high schooler.
(48:31 – 48:52)
“Two days later he found the song on YouTube and that’s like one of his favorite songs right now...three-year-old.” (Gary, 48:31 – 48:37)
(45:30 – 47:39)
“I still think A.I. is better than JB. Yes, Allen Iverson is a different level athlete than Jalen Brunson. But Jalen Brunson has now already surpassed him in terms of clutchness, winning.” (Peter, 45:52 – 46:15)
Alan and Peter recall Iverson’s talent but stress how Brunson’s off-court leadership and “face of a franchise” quality sets him apart, both giving due respect to Iverson’s legendary standing.
“It exploded. It opened up and it swallowed up about five or six people... It was wild, man...Crazy, crazy stuff.”

– Chris, California caller (15:47)

“Does anybody care about those draft picks anymore... Are those picks worth it now?”
– Alan Hahn questioning past trade skepticism post-title (19:16 – 19:26)

– Peter (20:23)
“Of the big four... Brunson, Hart, OG, and Cat, they all have a different way about them.”
– Peter (29:55 – 30:02)
“He’s been a sweetheart of a kid coming out of college and through his entire career... It makes you feel so good that he found it as a player, too. Like, that doesn’t always happen.”
– Peter, on Karl-Anthony Towns (31:08 – 31:24)
