But yet there's still issues, right? They were getting, there was a perfect game being thrown at them before Kabul Hero hit the three run home run in the fifth. And then Cabo Yarrow hits two home runs but there's no, he can't play shortstop because Volpe's got to play shortstop. So there's issues there. And then the Mets win, but Soto hits a big three run home run.

Hold on. Do you say, ladies and gentlemen, it's time for, for your New York Mets update.

So Soto hits a three run home run.

Mets are down a run in the ninth inning, now take a 53 lead.

And then Williams comes in to get the save, but he gives up a two run home run to Olson and we go to extra innings. But in extra innings, Taylor gets the big double, scores two runs. Mets have to hold on for dear Life in the 10th inning and win the game 7 to 6. So the Mets do win, which is great, but again show problems with the bullpen not being able and lots of rumors surrounding Lindor possibly getting dope. And that's your New York Mets update. Interesting baseball last night where even in wins, it still shows that there are problems with the two teams. But that wasn't nothing last night. And I heard Michael in one of the promos talking about how, you know, Cam might be the guy that you want to pitch over everybody else right now because you, you know, Cole's going to pitch later on in this series, but he hasn't been great coming back from Tommy John. And you know, Rodon hasn't been able to get into the rotation just yet. And then the other guys, I think you're going to give the time of day to that. Isn't it amazing that it might be a kid that ends up saving them and might be the big game pitcher for them once they get to the postseason? But that was not nothing last night. I know it's just one game. They could turn around, lose the next three to the Rays, but that was a nice win to kind of stabilize things a little bit for them.

[Sports Commentator]

Well, you needed home runs.

[Rosenberg]

Well, three hits, three home runs, that's what you got.

[Sports Commentator]

That's. That's the problem though, right? Like, that's why that part of it, it's two walks and a home run. So you were getting, you were getting. It was perfect game. Two walks, you're still getting no hit home run. And that's all your offense was the long ball, which as we know, that's not sustainable. I just keep. To me, I come away with the fact that they've got a gem in this kid Schlitler. He's not only is he the real deal, he's the bulldog that we were just talking, weren't we talking about. Like you need, you need guys to be grinders when it's the worst time of year, right? When you're, when your team just can't get it right. You need somebody that's going to just show up and give you a big time performance. I thought he did that. I thought he was phenomenal. I mean, you're getting again, perfect game and he's got to try to match. He only gave up one hit throughout the beginning of that game, through the eighth. Yeah, but he was not letting them.

He was terrific.

Get any runs. So he was the stopper, the ace, all those things. And I love the fact that this guy's got such a chip on his shoulder. Do we have him?

Oh, we have him on bouncing back after the last outing.

But there was one side I don't see it.

like I said, I thought him saying they want to say it's a blanking regression because I had one Bad outing. So, again, it was personal to go out there and have a dominant start and put this team in the right position. Now, can I ask you some criticisms from some people in baseball about that outing? As if it's.

Who's they? That's what I want to know. Is he talking about people on social media, fans, or is he talking about his own team?

Yeah, no, not as I first. I'm like, with the. They think. Because, remember, Garrett Cole also barked Aaron Boone back into the corner when he was trying to take the ball from him after four innings. Right, right. And Cole was like, no, no, no, no. I'm going back out there. I don't care what the numbers are telling you. And I feel like that's the kind of stuff that you need right now. But apparently, though, this was not him barking at the analytics guys that were, you know, about his numbers, which is what I thought he was trying to suggest. But it wasn't that, apparently. It was about

Yeah. Is it Jared Karabas. Yeah. Who then decided to say he was just tongue in cheek, saying that the regression is showing on Cam Schlitler?

Well, that's what he does. That's his thing.

He's overly sarcastic about his hatred for the Yankees as a Red Sox guy. Michael's had him on the show before.

And he knows that if he does those types of things, it'll get. He will rile up Yankee fans. And we know that Cam is not shy about using bulletin board fodder to make himself better.

And that's the overall point. Like, whatever.

Because I love it, though.

I grew up with, you know, working with Greg Buttle, and Buttle always used to say bulletin board fodder. Come on. If you're a pro, if you need that to motivate you, there's something wrong.

But it's not to motivate you. It's the extra. Well, it's that. It's that I'm locked in. But now I'm like, now I'm still motivation.

I mean, we're talking semantics here. But Greg was the outlier, is my point. Is that. All right. It didn't motivate Greg. Greg was an intellectual. He thought things differently.

But let's face it. We just had a team that is telling you we lack focus. And your ace, and he's your ace right now, had total focus for whatever reason, whether it's Carabas, whether it's the team. Whatever he got, he gave up four home runs against the Tigers. And he said, not today, brother. We're getting it down. And against a better team on the road, when his team needed it the most, won the game. That's what an ace is, a stopper. A guy that says, all right, no more losing streaks. We're going to get back to normal. You know, every fifth day I'm going to hit the mound and I'm going to get you back. And right now that's all they got. Cole's not that right now. Rodin's not here, Freed's not here. So that was a nice, nice effort.

Can I get you some NBA please? All right, what do you got, MBA here. Okay, do it. So the Knicks, as you know, they made everything official with the guys that they agreed to terms with, right? Because that was yesterday at 12. Everything. You can start now making all your deals official. So Jose Alvarado back, Landry Shamit back, they bring in Andre Drummond who's going to fill the center position that Mitchell Robinson has vacated. Drummond is still one of the top offensive rebounders in the NBA. One of the top rebounders in the NBA. His defense though is nothing anywhere near Mitchell Robinson. They're going to miss that. But big body can rebound and give you a little Bit of scoring, maybe make a free throw or two. So a nice, a nice addition there. Another center that. There was some talk that could have been connected to them was Kevon Looney. I didn't see it. Everybody said, well he, you know, Mike Brown was with him in Golden State. Maybe you'd bring in a veteran like that. Did not see Looney as a piece here. Well, Looney just signed the Lakers, so he's off the table. I still think the Knicks need one more seven footer. Like I still think they need a third piece because we know Towns is going to get into foul trouble in some games and you know, Drum is not going to play 35 minutes.

No, you cannot count on Drummond for a ton.

So that's something to watch. DeMar DeRozan was bought out yesterday, I think as heard on ENN.

[Don]

That's right.

We talked about it. And DeRozan is another interesting player to watch here because you can get him for a veterans minimum. Does he want to go join a contender? Because remember he famously was traded away from Toronto when they got Kawhi and then they went on to win a championship. He spent all those years in Toronto, never got to be part of the championship. So for him, would New York be a place that he would consider because he could give them a lot of scoring off the bench now doesn't fit great because he's not a three point shooter. He's not a plus defender really anymore. But the guy can score and those guys are valuable. So a name you kind of want want to watch, that would be one of them. And then there's Jordan Clarkson and the Knicks would like to bring him back. It sounds like Clarkson wants to come back. And so that's another thing is if that's the case, that probably should have been done by now, but it hasn't been. So why. And something to watch there. And then the LeBron James of it all. We did talk about this a little bit, guys, but he's going to make a decision pretty soon, probably another week. And it does feel like it's either Cleveland or Golden State. That's to me what it feels like. Those are the two fines. Philly sounds nice. Miami doesn't make sense, but they're in apparently in the mix. But Golden State or Cleveland feels like the thing that makes the most sense. Donovan Mitchell just signed an extension there. Did you see how much.

He's going to get in his later years? 70 million and 75 million in a season his last two years.

But that doesn't mean they want to. They might have to.

That LeBron story is going to pop, and when it does, like I said, I know that the Jaylen Brown trade to the Philly is like a big headline, and what are they doing in Boston? Although Brad Stevens explained it, it. It is coming down to money now. But that LeBron story. This is going to be the farewell tour. Yes. It's going to be the end. So he, He. They were making New York a priority, and Rich Paul said, now it doesn't make sense, but if Jalen Brunson made the call, they could be back in. Should Jalen Brunson make the call?

Not in New York. Jalen Brunson, at this point, he just can't overshadow the Knicks.

I think a lot that comes with it. Listen, could it help the Knicks? Sure. I mean, you're the defending champion.

Yeah, of course, because he's LeBron James. But with it comes LeBron James and his farewell tour, and it's kind of about LeBron. It'll never be the case in New York because New York still cares about the Knicks. But like. And maybe you don't care how other people think, but outside of New York, the defending champions now become LeBron's team. LeBron's farewell tour. LeBron this, LeBron that.

And they didn't want to bring that and kind of, first of all, not distract people, but just sort of be add to it. And second of all, some people are surmising. He also didn't want to come here. Yeah. And that's why I just wanted to bring it up because he hasn't made a decision yet. There was this very interesting caveat of, you know, Brunson would have to reach out. And I found that interesting along with the news of Brunson. He's going to have minor, a minor procedure done in his forearm. And I'm trying to figure out when it happened because the guy. I thought for sure we'd hear something about the knee or the ankle with all the many times that he got hit and got hurt during this playoff run. But he's not expected to have any

effect on two months.

Yeah, he'll be ready to go in September. But it's just though, knowing just how much is the burden is on Brunson going into next season and understanding that it'd be nice to use the regular season as a way to coast a little bit and then go into the playoffs and then be like, hey, remember us like this shouldn't be. Any fan should not go into the season thinking the Knicks should go win 65 games. No, that's not what they're going to be.

And when I'm looking at the depth, that's why I'm saying I gave you DeRozan Clarkson a random seven footer and then the wild card, LeBron James and there's not a little part of you that goes, boy, if LeBron is like your seventh or eighth guy could be interesting.

They're after a game, the biggest scrum is going to be around LeBron James. National media is going to be following him around the entire year because it's his last year, it's his goodbye tour. So that means it's going to be a circus. Not only do they have the defending champions coming to town, but LeBron James is coming to Golden State for the last time. He's going to Cleveland for the last time. There's going to be all this national media. Brunson is going to drop 40, he's going to hit the game winning shot, and then after the game, everybody's going to be around LeBron James asking him what's going on.

And you know what? Jalen Brunson won't give a damn because he doesn't care.

But the rest of the team.

It's insane. They want this. They want this. They just know this is not the time. Which makes Cleveland the more obvious place.

Him playing in Cleveland and calling it a day there could end up with him moving into ownership at some point. And I know he wants to own an NBA team, but can't that happen

even if he goes and closes his career someplace else?

No, because it's. Dan Gilbert owns the Cavs. And, you know, obviously they have their connection. They've had good and bad moments. But still, if there's ever a place for LeBron to become an easy face of the franchise into ownership once he retires, Cleveland is the obvious place. It's home. It's the team. It's the franchise he put on the map. Right.

Honestly, I mean, so who was the second? I can't. You can't answer that. Because obviously the second best would be somebody to play with. LeBron, like Kyrie might be in the conversation of all time.

I want to address this to you, Alan, because you and I have felt the pain over the years with this Knickerbocker franchise, and I'm still in shock, to be honest with you, that they've won it. I'm so elated right now, and I'm so happy and proud of the franchise as a whole, and I want to keep it going. I want to. I want to win.

Back to back it has.

That's the next challenge for this franchise as I see it, Alan, because it hasn't been done in so long. So that's got to be the message. The mantra from Coach Brown is, let's do it again in a while.

That's why they're saying run it. That's why the run it back thing for them is something personal. And why, you know, John, I think this is one of those, you know, three to four. Can you get. Can you get one more in the next three years, then you've got yourself?

You need to bring in guys that have an edge and have a purpose and a goal, that they're fighting hunger, right? So with that being said to me, to me, LeBron James is a sideshow in a circus that the Knicks absolutely, positively do not need.

The move.

There's two moves the. The Knicks should make that would fortify this roster, give Coach Brown layers of players that have diversified skill sets, okay? And what I would do is this two moves. First move is I'm going to swap Jordan Clarkson for DeMar DeRozan, because DeMar DeRozan has an edge. He hasn't won the title. He's got something to play for. He's a multi time all star. His, his in game is phenomenal.

He's.

He would give the Knicks another ball handler. He's a big clutch shooter as well. I think that would be the move.

I don't hate it.

And we'll praise him with, with the Mod DeRozan. And the other move is Deuce McBride very much like Mitchell Robinson. I look at it this way, Alan. Mitchell Robinson over the past several years has been hurt and banged up. Same thing with Deuce McBride. And Mitch was coming up for a payday and he got the bag and. Right. And he deserves it. I don't want to Nick. Always a Nick. I wish him the absolute best.

But I look at the same situation with Deuce McBride. Now Alan, who's big bride is going to get ready to make some serious money. Now he's a guy that's gotten exposure. He's a guy that's got value. I would look to make him a centerpiece of a package to acquire the 21 year old Pelican center, bring him in here and develop him and have him elevate his game to another level. And then you've solidified yourself at the center spot with a veteran Drummond and a young rising player that's not making any money as at the 21 year old Pelican Center. And like I said, you got the Rosen coming here. I also want to make Tyler Kolik, put him in a more prominent role.

So those are the three things that I would look to do going forward into next season.

Well, I think that would elevate them and give them a real strong chance of repeating.

And if you do move on from Deuce at any, for any reason, it just moves Kolik up a slot anyway. But I. Yeah, look, the DeRozan thing's a very interesting one. I know we're having fun with the LeBron thing, but I would keep an eye on the DeRozan thing. I find that to be very interesting. I don't know how he fits, but it's hard to turn down Somebody that can average 18 to 20 a game who you know at this late in his career is starving for a title

Yeah, you were great last night. What a night in Major league baseball and in sports in general. First of all, the soccer team has nothing to apologize. The fact that Belgium was worried about the US striker, that was great. Are you kidding? Who in a million years would think a European team would worry about a player on the US playing or not. That was great. As far as baseball, how can the Yankees. This was probably their worst game in their last three weeks and they win it. Seven out of the nine guys go over 23 last night. They strike out 17 times and they still win the game. And then you see the Phillies and Royals. The best pitcher in baseball, Sanchez gives up nine runs. His ERA goes up from 1.9 to 2.6 in one game. And then the Met game back in fought. I'm telling you guys sports, you cannot make it up. The only thing I was disappointed, Naomi Osaka today lost. I would have loved to have seen her win. That would have been great. That would have been a great comeback story to see her do it. But fellas, what a night in sports. And it's going to keep going because there's always storylines with this stuff. Always great stuff to watch. Fellows, always a pleasure.
