Peter Rosenberg
All right. Yeah. All right.
Alan Hahn
Who wants. You get a cruiser. You get a cruiser. People who want some. There you go. Oh, that's a good catch. Because if that dropped, this is. All right. Who else? Go to the back. Someone in the back.
Peter Rosenberg
Are you ready?
Alan Hahn
Go deep. Go deep.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm gonna try right there.
Unknown
This could be such a bad idea.
Peter Rosenberg
I gotta tell you.
Unknown
I don't know.
Alan Hahn
I love this. I love this.
Peter Rosenberg
You ready?
Alan Hahn
Yes.
Unknown
No, I don't, you know. Overhand on Dona Justin Fields.
Alan Hahn
Garrett Wilson.
Unknown
All right, all right. Actually, he's got space, though.
Alan Hahn
Hey.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm gonna leave it up there.
Alan Hahn
Oh, it's so pretty.
Unknown
I gotta tell you, you picked the right guy. I was confident.
Alan Hahn
Well done. Well, well, well done.
Peter Rosenberg
One time. One time I was. I was at a bachelor party in Burbank, California.
Alan Hahn
Oh, beautiful downtown Burbank.
Peter Rosenberg
And my. My. My buddy was getting married. He had a trolley bus.
Alan Hahn
A trolley.
Peter Rosenberg
Drinking. And there was. It just. It was really a tough life for the guy. It was a homeless guy holding up a sign that says, I. I just need a beer.
Unknown
And you're riding by.
Peter Rosenberg
We're riding by. We're at the light with beer. And I'm like, oh, we got to get this guy a beer. So I toss him a Beer. It hits him in the head, falls in the street, rolls into the sewer.
Unknown
No.
Peter Rosenberg
Light turns green.
Alan Hahn
We're leaving.
Unknown
No, right.
Peter Rosenberg
Hold on. And of all the things that happened to this gentleman to make him home.
Alan Hahn
Fell in the sewer.
Peter Rosenberg
I still think that, mom. In the top five of the worst things that happened.
Alan Hahn
Hold on. You think he's still telling the story, and then these guys come by?
Peter Rosenberg
No, no.
Alan Hahn
I just said, I need a bed. He throws me a beer, and it goes right next.
Peter Rosenberg
I had every intent for him to catch it.
Unknown
I. I have bad news for you. I don't know how to tell you this.
Alan Hahn
I think it's the last beer he ever had.
Unknown
I think that was the last moment he ever had. No, I. I think if you're at that point, you're homeless in the streets of Bourbon.
Alan Hahn
It just. It just crushed.
Unknown
And you reach your hands up to grab a beer, it hits you in the head, and you go, all right, I can push through this. Let me grab it. You look down, and it falls into the sewer. At that point, Don, it's over. It can't get worse.
Peter Rosenberg
You ripped the sign up.
Alan Hahn
Your career's done now. I had one get one catch. One catch in your life.
Unknown
Now, were you guys. Even though it's sad, objectively, I assume you guys were a few drinks in already this.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes.
Unknown
Did people fall over in laugh? I mean, it's sad.
Peter Rosenberg
I felt bad.
Unknown
No, you. It's terrible. But I was the only one.
Peter Rosenberg
Everybody else thought it was comedy gold.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, yeah.
Unknown
You can't remove the comedy gold from it. But it was horrifying at the same time.
Peter Rosenberg
I would think if it wasn't, maybe in the, like I said, top five worst moments of his life, he might have even laughed.
Unknown
Right? He could have later, maybe he pulled his life together, and that was the low point. He went. The second I saw that beer fall in the sewer, I said, you know what? This is it.
Peter Rosenberg
But it was 28 years ago, so odds are he's no longer with us, unfortunately.
Unknown
I can't believe it fell in the.
Peter Rosenberg
One of the. I don't know which one, because we were talking about the A Star is Born. That there were four of them.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
One of them. Either the first or the second is the suicide moment, is him just wandering into the ocean. That's my wit. He had done just that. Just walked right off the Santa Monica.
Unknown
Pier and just said, you know what? Enough is enough. I'm going to sleep permanently. Oh, we've got a dear family friend here.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, really? Is that somebody this Is.
Unknown
No, this is one of my. This is my dear family friend Ellie.
Alan Hahn
Is that somebody? Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
I was in an office today and it was an older couple came up to me and go, oh, my God, it's you. And I thought, do I know you? She goes, no, I was just having fun. And they laughed and walked out of the lobby, out of the building. I'm like. And they were holding hands. I'm like, that's amazing.
Alan Hahn
Isn't that the. Isn't that the Jim Carrey thing? There you are. No, no, that's Mike Myers. Right? There you are. Do I know. You know, but there you are. It's a great line.
Unknown
No, that was. That's. That's legit.
Peter Rosenberg
Do you want to take a moment?
Unknown
No, I'm gonna go see her during the turn, our next break.
Peter Rosenberg
I think she left.
Unknown
No, she's. She's grabbing a drink, I think, before she gets a train.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, nice. See, this is what this place is across roads.
Unknown
And her mom in D.C. listens to our show a lot. Was a very avid case show watcher and listens on the app, by the way.
Alan Hahn
I think we can start discussing this openly because one of. There aren't many criticisms we're getting since the show has, you know, been reimagined. The missing element is the video element. Being out in a remote like this is great because we're. People can get to see us, we can get to see them. There is that interaction. The video element is something I think we all can agree, we are hoping to add at some point soon.
Unknown
I would like.
Alan Hahn
We all believe it is something that is part of where even, you know, radio simulcasts are a bigger thing. And I just. Because you see it so much that people reply, respond, comment, ask, all want to know, when are you going back to being also a television vehicle?
Unknown
Right.
Alan Hahn
I think the best answer I can come up with, guys, is efforting. It is definitely something that we want, we would like to do. We don't know what type of platform it's going to be. Are you know that. Yes. Network is not going to be part of it? Are you don't expect that.
Unknown
Are you saying you believe our TV element should be more than Jake from promotions holding up his camera for IG live during a break?
Alan Hahn
Hey, listen, at least he's doing that. So at least we have that for now.
Unknown
You'd like us to go to the next level?
Alan Hahn
I think the people want it. Like, you gotta give the people what they want.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm totally speaking out of script.
Alan Hahn
No, you're not you're Don the Greco. You've been here for two decades.
Peter Rosenberg
The new studios are equipped is all I'll say.
Alan Hahn
And they're also beautiful. Right?
Peter Rosenberg
But. But they are gorgeous. They are seeing the same future you're seeing.
Alan Hahn
I would hope so.
Peter Rosenberg
You know, you saw it.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, I know. So we just want everybody to know because we don't really talk about it on the show.
Peter Rosenberg
So stay tuned for more.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, exactly. It is something that we are hoping to add to the broadcast. In meantime, of course, what we have for you tonight at the Madison Square Garden is some nostalgia. If you are somebody that grew up with the Big east over the years in St. John's back to back years, they get to the semifinal, the Big east tournament, but that's not the expectation. The expectation is to take it a step further. St. John's won the regular season championship. Can they go on to win? This is the first time, by the way, that they outright won the Big east regular season in 40 years. Can they win the Big east tournament championship? I believe the last time was 2000.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
So the first time in 25 years. You're talking history here. It's a connection of the current, the present and also the past. There is a lot of excitement about a program in the big market like this, especially one like St. John's that has a lot of history, that when it's reinvigorated, it feels like everybody, even if you didn't go to St. John's you just kind of feel a little something extra about it. The building tonight is going to be unbelievable. Yeah. With the anticipation of what this team.
Peter Rosenberg
Can do now, they're only a three and a half point favorite. That's interesting.
Alan Hahn
Well, Marquette's good.
Peter Rosenberg
So obviously this is not a. A fait accompli that they're going to even get, you know, past this to.
Alan Hahn
The championship, this game.
Peter Rosenberg
But the question I have, and Michael kind of touched on this during his show, do they. Can they move up in whatever bracket they're going to be in on Selection Sunday based on what they do in this now, we had discussed, well, they win the Big East. All right, well, they, they. What did they get up to six at the end of the regular season? They won the Big east title. Do they have to make a run? Could it move them? Or are they. Are they looked upon now? Are you've done it all? Because let's be honest, these, these conference tournaments are not what they're all cracked up to be. You know, you see, sometimes these teams not even care because like is Duke going to be affected if they lose to North Carolina? No, we've seen that.
Alan Hahn
They'll, they'll sit Cooper flag and they won't care.
Peter Rosenberg
Now for some teams it's all like Rutgers. Obviously. You know, there's some teams only have the ability to win their conference to be able to get to the dance. St. John's isn't in that case. But what I ask you is where do you think they'd be seated right now? And can winning this thing affect where they're seated? Can they move up or are they locked in?
Alan Hahn
It's a great point. Now, you know, let's, let's just play the game of the hypothetical. You beat Marquette, you expect Yukon. Right. They'll win their matchup and will you then get to play UConn in the championship? Yukon now again back to back champs. But they're not the same team this year. Like they don't. I don't think it carries the same weight to beat Yuka because I was thinking beat Yukon in the Big east championship. Let's say you beat them. You know, that's, that's not like a patsy. You're not beating like a weak school. You're beating a great program. They don't have the same.
Unknown
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
Ranking feeling. No, you are right.
Unknown
You are. You are UConn this year.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, kind of. Right. Like you're doing the things that, that they have. But I just, I'm like. I don't even looking at it from the national perspective. They're probably going to be a three seed, which is nothing. I don't think.
Unknown
I don't think it changes much, which is fine.
Alan Hahn
What I'm talking about is the return of a program that had been. And I hate saying dormant but it just. When it comes to the national. Right. The national attention. Like Rick Pitino probably will win national coach of the year. He's been nominated. He'll be up for it. I think he should win it. It's hard to argue another coach that did a better job when you consider again the program where it came from. He doesn't have a five star recruit on this roster. They have built up some transfer players into great players. I mean rj, RJ Luis is going to win play. He's player of the year. Like so when you are looking at what they've done here and that it is sustainable because of nil, because of what Mike Roli has done to invest in the school, what Rick Pitino has done to reinvigorate the school, think about this they're 100 at the Garden. They're played 10 games at the Garden this season. They had a hard time getting people in the building. They started playing games on campus again. Now they're back to being that program that can come into the Garden and sell out. And not only sell out, but win. It's like, think about that. That is something that we haven't seen in a long time. And I think that is the, that's the fun part of the story is the come up. The Mets did it recently and everybody gets excited. The Knicks a couple of years ago, when people outside 7th Avenue and they're just filling the block, they stop traffic. That's where Bing Bong came from. Anytime these teams that have gone through losing and I think you'll see it with jets fans, if they ever figure it out, you'll see that where everybody will get caught up. If the jets ever find a way, if Aaron Glenn somehow, some way is that answer to turn the franchise around and get them winning again, I think you'll see the same kind of response. These are the fun stories, but there's.
Peter Rosenberg
Still something different about St. John's in college basketball because they kind of represent the whole sport in this town.
Alan Hahn
Yep.
Peter Rosenberg
You know, when you talk about the Islanders being bad or the jets being bad or the Mets being bad, they stay relevant in the basement. Like they still stay relevant in the conversation because the conversation is they're bad.
Alan Hahn
Yep.
Peter Rosenberg
But they stay relevant. You know, but St. John's was irrelevant. They weren't playing. You would get, maybe you turn on the news, you might get the, the sports anchor to give you the score. They show you highlights. It was like not considered a, a local team playing. It didn't matter. They, they might as well just be giving the score for, you know, St. Peter's or Iona, as sad as it is. And, and we know that it's a bigger program than some of those, but the point is, is that they were irrelevant and the college basketball was irrelevant.
Alan Hahn
I think what you're saying is they became a mid major, they became Manhattan, Fordham, Iona, like they became those just a school in the area, not a national program.
Unknown
They're red at the end of the local news and that's kind of it.
Peter Rosenberg
So when, when the Mets or the jets or the Islanders become good again, you've resurrected their play. St. John's has resurrected their play and also resurrected a program and something that has not been relevant to this town in 25 years and has not been like ultra relevant going back almost 40 years.
Unknown
The interest.
Peter Rosenberg
So it is literally back from the dead. Like I said, it's the prodigal son returning. It was always in the back of everybody's mind reminiscing about St. John. They're back.
Alan Hahn
That's the best way to put it. They're back.
Unknown
The interesting piece will be we talked earlier about, you know, how long is the Runway for Rick Patino going to be. Interesting to see how long Pitino sticks around, how far they can go if they don't. Assuming they don't win it this year, which of course changes everything in a million ways. But assuming they go to the second weekend and lose, let's just say how long does Rick Pitino stay and what does this program do if after a few pretty competitive years, he retires and that's that. That's going to be interesting.
Alan Hahn
Who takes the baton? Who takes it from there?
Unknown
And does it continue to grow or does it fade back to obscurity?
Alan Hahn
Well, it's good.
Peter Rosenberg
To your point earlier, Alan, I don't think you have to worry about Rick retiring.
Alan Hahn
I'm telling you, the energy this guy.
Peter Rosenberg
Has, I think the only way he walks away from St. John's if he feels like I can't take it any far, like, let's say you get three, four years of all right, we make it to the sweet 16. We're in, but we're just not getting that player. You know, we can't compete nil with some of the other schools. And I'm getting into my later 70s now, and I just don't think I can take the program. This is the far. As far as I can go. I don't worry about him getting bored or saying, I'm done or it doesn't interest me anymore. I think this guy wants to coach forever if he could.
Alan Hahn
Yep.
Peter Rosenberg
But there's obviously an expiration date on everyone. So if he's 43, we're talking about, hey, we could be here for the next 20, 30 years of this.
Alan Hahn
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
I think we probably have realistically five to seven years of peak Rick, peak St. John. And that's not nothing, I think.
Alan Hahn
Oh, no, no.
Peter Rosenberg
If it's especially what this has been.
Alan Hahn
What this year has given us, I think also you. You can't overlook. It's. It's. And this was two years ago. I remember when, you know, they. The opening was there and you absolutely knew St. John's needs to hire Rick Patino. And remember, this is a guy that had to go through five years out of college basketball when all the trouble happened. In Louisville, and he was blamed for it. His assistant coaches did some things and he got caught up in it, and they wouldn't clear him. And so he went to Greece and coach because he. It's in his blood. It's what he does. And he comes back and Iona gives him a shot to get him back into college basketball. And you realize that no matter where he goes, he finds a way to win. He is one of these guys that just resurrects programs. Now, Iona was. It wasn't a bad program. He didn't go in there like, Tim Close did a nice job there. So it's not as if they were a dormant program, but he was able to go in there and win. And when St. John's there were some people that said, you can't go to Patino. You can't do that. Don't bring him in the door. And Louis Carneseca, God rest his soul, was one who did give the blessing of bring him in. And it was the right thing to do. Because it not only is you bring in a coach, because you try with coaches. Here's a. The top assistant from this program comes in. Like, that doesn't work if they don't know New York. You brought in a guy who understands New York and he understands how to connect people. And that's what he did. And Nil shows up. It's the perfect storm, no pun intended. But the idea that he got them relevant not just as a program, but turned Madison Square Garden back into their home court, where, as I mentioned, they're 10 0. They win this game today. I just saw this. It would be the most wins in a season they've had at the garden since 1958, 59. Like, are you kidding me? Like, just that alone tells you that the relevance has come back. The fact that you could take that program, put it in that building and sell out the building and dominate in that building takes you back to the 80s and certainly takes you back to when, you know, they really were a big college basketball program in the 50s. So it is remarkable what he's done. And it is hard to believe that there's any small Runway here. I think he coaches till he takes his last breath. And I think if you're St. John's you let him coach till he takes his last breath.
Peter Rosenberg
So interesting, because Peter probably remembers this on the Case show, when he took the Iona job, he told us, this is it. This is my last job. But he found his second wind interesting. He has seen, you know, he was able to get this job at St. John's this, I do believe this will be his last job. It's just a matter of how.
Alan Hahn
He loves being in New York.
Peter Rosenberg
He loves being again, this is such a great, it's a perfect place for him. There's so many wins, there's so much relevancy around it. So I guess you never say never, especially with all the things that can happen in college basketball. But you feel like that the Runway is longer than people give it credit for.
Alan Hahn
It certainly is. Again, it's a lot of fun college basketball, there's a history of it in this city. We all know that. I've always said this is a basketball town. I've tried to convince people of it because I understand it is a baseball town. Football is king, we know. But in New York, basketball matters. And it's not just simply the NBA. The college game matters. And having a team right here in New York, that is big, that, that's a huge part of it because it gives you a little more of a, of a home base or a hometown kind of feel.

Peter Rosenberg
That's what it is. I'm too.

Peter Rosenberg
Guys have a market. Just don't have. Go ahead.
Alan Hahn
I don't know how I feel about this. All right, well.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, boy.
Alan Hahn
Anyways, we are not taking calls today because we are doing a remote. So if you make the effort to come up and hang out with us. We felt like we should make the effort to allow you to get to the microphone as if you were calling in and give us your take, ask your question, push back on something we have talked about so far today. So for everybody here, the rules are as they always are. We have the microphone. We'll hold it for you. No OG Anunoby here, All right? No OG Anunoby. Okay. If you OG at a nobe, you're out. We get to kick you out. So you say your name just like you're a caller where you're from.
Peter Rosenberg

Alan Hahn
And then. And then we go from there. So, Jefferson, step him on up. I'm gonna have some cookie.
Unknown
I'm excited for you here.
Peter Rosenberg
Let's see.
Unknown
Get into that microphone, friend.
Alan Hahn
Put it nice and close, though, right into his going. What's up, guys? This is Javier from Queens. Javier, See, I told you that's how you say it because Richard isn't.
Unknown
Alan.
Alan Hahn
Don. Peter. I just got a quick Knicks question.
Unknown
I've been contemplating this for a while. With the Bridges of it all. Alan, do you think maybe P.J. tucker pulled off a debo from Friday and bullied Bridges into asking what he did of Thibs? But it was because that's what Tucker wanted. He just want Bridges already.
Alan Hahn
The message. What? Why?
Peter Rosenberg
Been here two minutes.
Alan Hahn
The only thing I can think of. You're going conspiracy theory. Guy shows up in five minutes, he's got him calling out the coach.
Unknown
Also said it didn't happen.
Alan Hahn
You know what I mean?
Unknown
Well, and by the way, on earth, of all the people who would complain about minutes, the guy on a dead day.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah.
Unknown
You think P.J. tucker at this stage is expecting major minutes on this?
Alan Hahn
Dude, you tell. You tell me. P.J. tucker, he's a bully. P.J. tucker's the guy, right? He's the one that's like the. He's the plant.
Unknown
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
Somebody put him in.
Unknown
I like the conspiracy.
Alan Hahn
It's interesting, but.
Unknown
No.
Alan Hahn
Any. Any chance, Alan, what do you think I'm gonna say to you?
Peter Rosenberg
No, that's not.
Alan Hahn
Stay off the weed.
Peter Rosenberg
I like where his head's at, though.
Alan Hahn
But I love conspiracy theories.
Peter Rosenberg
I Love them.
Alan Hahn
So please keep bringing them. Keep bringing them. Very good to see you, Javi. I told you that's how you pronounce it.
Unknown
That's right.
Alan Hahn
See, he's. He loves the way I pronounce it.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, yeah.
Alan Hahn
Javier, Javier, Javier. It sounds like very classy.
Unknown
All right, next up with the Ranger, Jermaine from Brooklyn.
Alan Hahn
He got his Rangers hat on. You see that, Donnie? All right, Jermaine from Brooklyn. That's it. First I got to give. I gotta give my kudos to Don.
Unknown
The best rose Titanic Red I've heard in a long time.
Peter Rosenberg
Thank you.
Alan Hahn
He's a psycho. Rosenberg.
Unknown
I love the. The Godfather.
Alan Hahn
When Tommy Cole cuts was brought back to the. The Giants.
Unknown
Oh, all right, I forgot about that.
Alan Hahn
But I gotta ask you guys, I'm feeling a little bit of drop sadness.
Unknown
So any murmurs about. It's a great question.
Alan Hahn
The best competition on. I tried to get it. Fantastic. Fantastic question. Look, look, can I say as the new guy, for the record, I'm all for it, right? Like, I have no problem.
Unknown
Why would you not.
Alan Hahn
Why would not jumping into something that was such a great success. I have no issue with it now. The problem is, is that we only have. We'll only have two and a half months of content. Right? Because it's a new show. Unless we come up with some other way to do the brackets.
Peter Rosenberg
I had the idea of the four brackets being four shows. You do the morning show, Carlin and.
Alan Hahn
And Bart, us and K. I don't mind that.
Peter Rosenberg
Shows from. No offense to Dan, but the shows from six to seven.
Alan Hahn
How many, how many drops can Dan have when he's operating?
Peter Rosenberg
And the argument's gonna be well, but we can still take K drops from the K show earlier in the season and just give them to him. Okay, we have our show and then put it together. I threw the idea out and it just died on the floor.
Alan Hahn
No.
Peter Rosenberg
And we're already in March, so I guess it's not going to happen. So it's dead.
Alan Hahn
Too late.
Peter Rosenberg
No.
Unknown
Why not, though? We can pull it off in a week. You never know. Anthony's barely got his hands.
Peter Rosenberg
We got a new studio.
Alan Hahn
Got so much time on his hands.
Peter Rosenberg
I'll just answer the question. I'm going to be the guy. It's dead.
Alan Hahn
Oh, come on. We should hear the sound of the. The game show sound.
Peter Rosenberg
Now, that doesn't mean that it can't. It can't resurface like St. John's there it is.
Unknown
By the way, do you realize that at 6 o'clock we're reportedly being joined on the air by Richard live in person.
Alan Hahn
Yes. He promised us he'd be here. I believe it when we see rfm.
Unknown
I believe it when I see it, too. There's a chance we have an entire region from Richard showing up at 6:00. Clock.
Alan Hahn
But what I. I'm also thinking maybe the regions. If you do that one could be a caller region. And then the three of us.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, again, I don't know what else I can do. I came up with the idea.
Alan Hahn
We'll have a whole year to do this. Next March, we bring it back repackaged with Don, which you'll probably win every year. You'll be like UCLA back in the Wooden days. He is that Don's region. Peter's region.
Peter Rosenberg
Who. Yeah, I don't like how you're.
Ryan Reynolds
I don't.
Alan Hahn
I probably. I don't love this description because it does get a little uncomfortable as I'm.
Unknown
Describing the Don bracket, the Peter Brack.
Alan Hahn
We can also enjoy my region. And then we have, like, the callers and that region.
Unknown
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, easel. We've got. We've got enough.
Alan Hahn
But I love this idea.
Peter Rosenberg
Anthony has a lot of work. Thank you.
Alan Hahn
Oh, yeah, Fantastic. Thank you, Jim.
Peter Rosenberg
We got a new studio. It's really up to Anthony if Anthony thinks he can put something together. We do have time. It's running out, but.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. Well, again. All right, next up, Giants hat. It must be a Giants fan. You must be. Are you an emotionally abandoned Giants fan? Like, you have no feeling whatsoever?
Unknown
Dude, I am an orphan.
Alan Hahn
Oh, no, no.
Ryan Reynolds
I am.
Peter Rosenberg
I am what you call a disabled man.
Alan Hahn
Oh, no. They have done this to you. What happened?
Unknown
Is that all right?
Alan Hahn
Oh, wow. The legend is here. All right, wait, wait, wait. We can't do this now.
Unknown
No, we have to.
Alan Hahn
We can't not.
Ryan Reynolds
I can't wait.
Unknown
I don't. Do we wait.
Alan Hahn
I thought six o'clock.
Unknown
He's erupt. The crowd's erupted.
Ryan Reynolds
Richard.
Alan Hahn
All right.
Peter Rosenberg
I think the crowd wants Richard already.
Alan Hahn
It's too soon.
Unknown
What do you want to do, Allan?
Peter Rosenberg
You.
Unknown
You steer this.
Alan Hahn
I feel like that we need more. We only have about six minutes left in the segment.
Unknown
All right, so. So you want.
Alan Hahn
This is a bigger deal. This is all right, Richard, hang tight.
Unknown
Give Richard a seat.
Alan Hahn
Give him a. Give him a drink.
Peter Rosenberg
He's taking pictures of people.
Ryan Reynolds
Let him drink.
Alan Hahn
I love how I look at you. He looked at you and said, are you done? Which is the best part of it. That's the best part.
Unknown
You know, he doesn't watch tv.
Alan Hahn
He's a radio man. All right. All right, so let's get back to it because again, RFM coming up, 6:00. You don't want to miss it.
Unknown
Richard is here.
Alan Hahn
Name and where you from? You didn't say that part.
Peter Rosenberg
Chris from Uniondale.
Alan Hahn
Okay, Chris, two statements, one question.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, first statement. How much would you pay?
Unknown
Well, as I, I paid $48 last night to see Bill Burr and Dave.
Peter Rosenberg
Chappelle in the same building.
Alan Hahn
Wow. That's it.
Unknown
Crazy, right?
Alan Hahn
Dollars.
Peter Rosenberg
Brooklyn.
Alan Hahn
That's a steal.
Unknown
Second city.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, second statement. Richard.
Unknown
Richard from Manhattan owes me an arm wrestling match. Is that true?
Alan Hahn
What? What?
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't think it's going to happen.
Alan Hahn
Yeah, I don't see it either.
Unknown
One question.
Peter Rosenberg
How do you feel about the Giants off season? Obviously, you don't feel great without having a quarterback, but they actually have done a pretty. They've redone the offensive line, they redone the secondary. Right. They're going to have a very high draft pick and they're going to have, you know, early pick in the second round. I think that's what's going to get lost about their off season is the quarterback situation and missing on Stafford and waiting for Rogers to make a decision. That likely will not be them. But I think they're off season. They needed to bring in talent and they have. They've gotten younger, got a safety that was helpful. I just, I think that they've had a really good off season, but everybody's going to judge it like they judge drafts going through.
Alan Hahn
I agree. The draft is going to be kind of like what, what, what mood you're in going into training camp.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
That still remains next. Up next, next Tennessee.
Unknown
I can't concentrate with Richard here. It's too much.
Alan Hahn
You're rattled right now.
Unknown
See, boys, it's like having a legend here.
Alan Hahn
How do you feel about the Brock Nelson trade? Like, are you done with Lou? No, keep. No, no. It was the right thing to do. They, they actually did right, Don. They did really well on that trade. Like, I know we don't want to see a guy like him. He's a lifer. It was hard to see him go, but again, you're not, you weren't going to. They, they, they offered him a contract. He didn't sign. He wanted to go to free agency. So they got something for him. Could they always bring him back? It's possible. You know, his roots are on Long island, so, you know, like, I think that Lou did a good job with that trade you got a lot back for.
Peter Rosenberg
I will say the idea of bringing him back, it doesn't. You saw. You saw with Araldes Chapman, but it usually doesn't happen that way. Guy like, that's the open market. But we were speculating. Yeah, maybe you get a third round pick something to be able to get a one. Be able to get a young prospect. I think Lou did very well with that deal, is what it is, guys. I mean, the Islanders were not going to make a run and it was a commodity that they could move for the future. I thought Lou did very well.
Alan Hahn
So we remember that day. You remember the day we did the Chargers fan in New York thing? Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
I can't believe how many people called in saying they also are a Chargers fan.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes.
Alan Hahn
We have a man about to step up to the microphone in a splendid starter Chargers jacket.
Unknown
Old school.
Alan Hahn
Carl Banks would love this. And a Chargers Los Angeles Chargers hat on his head. Introduce yourself, sir.
Richard from Manhattan
Thank you, guys. Thank. Thank you, guys. Yeah, I'm Dave from Queens. I'm the charger guy.
Unknown
Oh, I remember.
Alan Hahn
Were you the first one and then all the calls came after you? Yes. All right. You started it and all that. Yes.
Richard from Manhattan
Thanks, guys. Shout out to Walter Berry today. Schweppes.
Alan Hahn
Thank you.
Richard from Manhattan
Thanks for having Walter Berry. I was in line when Richard arrived. It was amazing. I wish it was being filmed. We all heard his voice and he got the little location over there and it.
Alan Hahn
VIP section for Richard.
Richard from Manhattan
It's my question, guys, is number one. Thank you for being here. You know the expression Irish exit?
Alan Hahn
What it means? Yep. Of course.
Richard from Manhattan
You guys know what that.
Unknown
You know, like an Irish goodbye.
Alan Hahn
Like. Yeah, it's the Irish goodbye.
Ryan Reynolds
Huh?
Alan Hahn
It's Irish kebab. Yeah.
Richard from Manhattan
Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
No.
Richard from Manhattan
So maybe the younger listeners don't know about the Irish goodbye.
Alan Hahn
You want to explain it?
Richard from Manhattan
All right, well, quickly. I'm from Queens. We do a lot of Irish bars. The Irish guys and everything. Growing up, they didn't. They didn't say goodbye when they leave. They just did slip out five minutes later. You're looking for John or Tom or Robert and they are ghosts and that's the Irish goodbye.
Alan Hahn
Oh, yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Also, Pearly used to do that.
Alan Hahn
That's right. I'm big on those. I'm also big on the Irish hello and.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Richard from Manhattan
And I wanted to say one thing. I always thought you should have Eric Weddle on being a charger since he won the drop.
Unknown
That's right.
Ryan Reynolds
You should have had.
Richard from Manhattan
You should have Eric Weddle on.
Alan Hahn
Why haven't you Done the drop for.
Richard from Manhattan
Him and tell him he's a drop champion.
Alan Hahn
All right, you know what?
Unknown
He deserves to know.
Peter Rosenberg
He does.
Alan Hahn
He does deserve to know. All right, good job. Explain to him that I love it. I love it.
Unknown
Now, listen, I.
Alan Hahn
Well done. Well done. Good to see you. Good to see you.
Unknown
Alan, as the. As the man who had the idea to invite and demand Richard to come.
Alan Hahn
Yes.
Unknown
I believe I'm going to make a call here.
Alan Hahn
Are you. You just can't wait.
Unknown
We got to go to early break. We got to come back with Richard.
Peter Rosenberg
Plus, I got a hot take about Richard. Looking at him.
Unknown
Well, I know there's so much that's. And by the way, not only that.
Alan Hahn
Really think that that's going to be enough time? No, no.
Unknown
It might be the rest of the show. We don't know.
Alan Hahn
Can't be.
Unknown
We don't know. But we don't know how he does.
Alan Hahn
It's.
Unknown
It's Richard, so you never know where it's going to go. It could be also a disaster. We have to. We're gonna have to see how this goes. But, like, I gotta. First of all, I'm going. I'm going on IG Live.
Alan Hahn
By the way, let's ask the people. Do we all want RFM next? Richard from Manhattan. We all want him next because you all went crazy when he showed up. So. All right, he's in vip. We're going to get him some makeup over here.
Unknown
I'm going on Rosenberg Radio Instagram Live. The people have to see the man.
Alan Hahn
They have to see him. I've never seen Peter so giddy. Yes. Like, honestly, it's as if Rihanna just showed up. I'm not sure what to make of this.
Peter Rosenberg
And just to get. Just to tease it, Richard looks like somebody we work with that will look like that guy in 40 years.
Unknown
I think I know where you're going.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes.
Alan Hahn
Oh, wow.
Unknown
And by the way, I have already sent Michael K. Video of Richard. He has weighed in. It's already happened.
Don La Greca
Thanks for listening to the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast.
Unknown
I didn't listen to anything you just said.
Don La Greca
Catch the show on demand whenever you want. Just subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts.
Alan Hahn
All right. This is the moment Peter's been waiting for. And apparently everybody here at the Irish exit. Wow, this is a big train home. Rosenberg is so caught up in this that he's got his Instagram Live going right now.
Unknown
He's. I'm on the IG Live. The engineer is currently talking to him.
Alan Hahn
We are getting this.
Unknown
I Don't want to show on camera yet. I'm letting the room fill. Let's let the room fill on Instagram Live. You are about to get the first ever look at a legend of this radio station. I never thought when we invited him he'd come New York City. Make some noise for the great Richard from Manhattan.
Alan Hahn
By the way, the poor man is dripping in sweat.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, I did.
Alan Hahn
You got him. Either you're nervous or you walked here. Can we get him? Can we get him?
Ryan Reynolds
No, I'm okay. I'm okay.
Alan Hahn
You're good?
Ryan Reynolds
I'm very good.
Unknown
Richard, how far. How far was your office from here?
Ryan Reynolds
58Th and Lex.
Unknown
58Th and leg.
Ryan Reynolds
About two miles. I made it in 38, 39 minutes.
Alan Hahn
And what was.
Unknown
What was your last appointment today?
Ryan Reynolds
4:30. Around 4:30.
Unknown
And what did you do today? What was the. What was.
Ryan Reynolds
Just cleanings. Cleaning. That's it.
Unknown
We are. I got to say, Don, I am shocked. I did not think there was a chance Richard would actually.
Peter Rosenberg
No.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, you prom. I promise you.
Alan Hahn
I knew he.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, the shock is not that you're here. The shock is that you agreed to come.
Alan Hahn
I knew you would.
Peter Rosenberg
Hold up.
Ryan Reynolds
This worked out good.
Peter Rosenberg
What is it?
Unknown
What does it feel like to actually like. Because you listen to us. Oh, every second you don't watch.
Ryan Reynolds
Of course I know.
Unknown
So what does it feel like to actually see us in person?
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, I mean, I've seen you on the billboard, so I knew what you guys look like. I used to see Don, Michael and I forgot who.
Peter Rosenberg
Joey.
Ryan Reynolds
That's right. On the bus on the Bruckner Expressway about 15 years ago near Hunts Point on the Hunts Point billboard. I remember that now.
Unknown
A lot of. There seem to be a lot of people. Richard, I'm looking at the comments right now. A lot of people are surprised at how young you Look.
Ryan Reynolds
I'll be 70. People think 70 years old.
Peter Rosenberg
Two months.
Alan Hahn
Really?
Ryan Reynolds
May 20th.
Alan Hahn
It looks terrific.
Unknown
And by the way, you know what else you look. I did. You've told us before the confirmation that you are Armenian the second you walked in. That's an Armenian man. Richard from Manhattan. What's your last name again?
Ryan Reynolds
Richard Michaelian.
Unknown
Michaela.
Ryan Reynolds
So it ends in I A N. There you go. When you see the name ending in IA and it's Armenian, of course.
Unknown
This is. This is a thrill.
Peter Rosenberg
This is pretty. Listen, we're honored to have you here.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, thank you. I'm happy to be here. I love listening to you guys.
Peter Rosenberg
Forward to your show. Now, what I need to know is how much do you prepare for the phone call?
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, I think of everything. I think and I write everything down.
Alan Hahn
Okay.
Ryan Reynolds
And then I. Then I take what you guys are talking about, and that always takes precedence. So, you know things like that. Oh, yeah, big time.
Peter Rosenberg
So a lot of work goes in. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, I just don't talk off the cuff. No, I have all ideas. I have all papers, you know, like in school, I have all this.
Peter Rosenberg
What are your patients think of this? It doesn't come.
Ryan Reynolds
They don't. I do it in between.
Alan Hahn
If you are. So wait a minute. We have you on hold. You. You're doing a cleaning.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, yeah.
Alan Hahn
If I go to you. If I'm like, Richard.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, I'll just. Excuse me one second.
Alan Hahn
Do you really?
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah. That's all. How long do I talk? I only talk to you guys for about three minutes. That's all.
Alan Hahn
So it's a step away. How do you know, like, if you're doing it, like, do you have us on and you hear us call?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, I have.
Ryan Reynolds
No, I have it on the speakerphone and we have a few phones, different spots in the office.
Alan Hahn
So there's a patient that's just sitting there, mouth open.
Ryan Reynolds
Right now they're. Close their mouth or I'll give them a water and I'll say, here, rinse out. Rinse out while I go next. Yeah, you know, check, clean out. Even. Even if they just rinsed out now.
Unknown
Now, my guess would be that today, in your preparation for coming on the show. Yeah, I would assume it would be something Big east tournament related. Is that where you were going to go today? What did you have?
Ryan Reynolds
No, I don't go to. I don't go anymore, Peter.
Unknown
No, no, no. In terms of your topics for today conversation.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, yeah.
Alan Hahn
What are you prepared to send us?
Ryan Reynolds
No, I didn't prepare anything because I knew you wanted to take phone calls, so I didn't think I would waste my time and energy now.
Alan Hahn
Right.
Ryan Reynolds
I wasn't thinking of anything.
Alan Hahn
No.
Unknown
Okay.
Alan Hahn
All right. So you don't. You don't have much like. Well, you, you. How long you live you. New York? All your life?
Ryan Reynolds
All my life. My mother was born a few blocks away this way. 98 years ago. My father was born a few blocks away this way. Wow, 102 years.
Alan Hahn
That's amazing.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
I'm in New York, kids.
Ryan Reynolds
Alan, I've never left this house.
Alan Hahn
This used to be residential. Before it was the Garden. It was a big Penn Station.
Ryan Reynolds
I remember the old garden on 8th Avenue. Oh, yeah, 50th, right between 8th and 9th Avenue.
Alan Hahn
Beautiful marquee.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
So, Richard, why dentistry?
Alan Hahn
Really?
Unknown
I love it, John.
Ryan Reynolds
I was an engineer in school at Columbia and I had no aptitude for engineering. And I decided late that I. I applied late. And that was how what I decided that was.
Alan Hahn
That's. That's where. That's where it went down.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah.
Alan Hahn
You were saying something to me when you got here, which is how you marveled at how all the bars around here.
Ryan Reynolds
It's incredible.
Alan Hahn
Biggie's tournament going on.
Ryan Reynolds
I just walked from pockets. Correct. I walked from Park Avenue South. There must have been 10 to 15 bars between Park Avenue south and 8th Avenue. I couldn't believe it. And pack people coming out left and right. Wow. It was never like this 40 years ago during the time of Mullen and all the guys now big. No, not this big.
Alan Hahn
Like. So with. With St. John's kind of. We were just talking about this throughout the show. Like with. With St. John's getting to more of a national prominence. St. John's being in a game like this tonight and stuff like that. Is that, is that.
Ryan Reynolds
I don't know.
Alan Hahn
Do you even feel that? Because again, you follow New York Sports. Is the St. John's Register with you now more than ever?
Ryan Reynolds
St. John's is the most important, important team in New York.
Peter Rosenberg
Why?
Ryan Reynolds
Because if college basketball is eliminated, I still watch. I could care less about the Knicks winning. I watch basketball. If I go up to Harlem or the South Bronx or down on West 4th, you can watch those sports anytime, anywhere, with anybody. But when it comes to college basketball and In New York, St. John's has to be in the mix. When they're in the mix, that covers everything. Oh, it's unbelievable.
Alan Hahn
So it's special for you to see this.
Ryan Reynolds
Sure.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
So with your knowledge, can I just colon.
Ryan Reynolds
Not just St. John's when Seton hall was in there, Rutgers in 76 was incredible. In New York, Penn in 79 when they had their run Yukon even a little bit.
Alan Hahn
Because we have a lot of people alumni here.
Ryan Reynolds
Sure, sure. Any metropolitan team.
Alan Hahn
Is basketball your favorite?
Ryan Reynolds
Of course.
Alan Hahn
Of all the sports, the best.
Ryan Reynolds
And Alan, the most beloved team in 65 years of watching sports we love. Nobody loved this team more. And I can go back to the Giants with tittle and they were the most loyal. The Mets in 69 hours, the most beloved team, you never heard one negative word about the coach or about any of the players was the 69, 70 Knicks. It was like a party every night. The Garden was unbelievable. Never a boo. They never Got booed. They were so beloved. The New York 69, 70 Knicks, they were rock stars. But, you know, now basketball is the biggest sport in New York. That's my.
Alan Hahn
I've always said that it's a basketball town.
Unknown
Now, Richard, speaking of rock stars. Yeah, speaking of rock stars, there are a lot of people in the chat very impressed with the looks of Richard from Manhattan. Yeah, a lot of conversation now.
Alan Hahn
Handsome guy. You know what I mean?
Unknown
And you have. You have told us in the past, I'm not married. That you're. You're potentially still looking for love.
Ryan Reynolds
Yes.
Unknown
So if there are any ladies in the chat or, or. Or mothers of ladies in the chat, you are still on the market.
Ryan Reynolds
Richard. Yes, of course, is.
Alan Hahn
Richard is rich. I think he's giving zaddy vibes, giving daddy vibes.
Unknown
But by the way, he did tell us a couple years ago that you would still like to be a father.
Ryan Reynolds
Not sure. If it happens. It happens.
Peter Rosenberg
Hey, Richard, you know what? It could happen today.
Alan Hahn
Well, yeah, this would be something.
Peter Rosenberg
You're on social media. You're out there.
Alan Hahn
We are at the Irish exit, Moynihan Train Hall. If you are nearby, Richard is certainly here.
Peter Rosenberg
That's right. And I never know, in my opinion, that when RJ Santillo gets to be close to 70, he will look like Richard of Manhattan.
Alan Hahn
He only wishes he was.
Unknown
That's a great sign for Richard.
Ryan Reynolds
I have one more story for you.
Alan Hahn
All right, good.
Ryan Reynolds
I told the boys, but you weren't there. I was at a Yankee game in the summer, in August, and I got. I'm in the back there on the. In the main concourse. A real tall, athletic looking guy.
Alan Hahn
So. Not me.
Ryan Reynolds
Taller than you and more athletic looking.
Alan Hahn
Wow.
Ryan Reynolds
But older. You know who he is? So I went up to him. No. I said to him, are you an ex athlete? And he smiled. He says, yeah. And I said, what sport? Like an idiot. And he says to me, guess. I said, basketball. I said, what's your name? Mitch Kupchak.
Alan Hahn
Oh, yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
He was there with his son.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. Long island guy.
Ryan Reynolds
You in Indiana? North Carolina. I said, I rooted for the Puerto Rican national team. They had a guy from liu. They had a guy. Ruben Rodriguez, Michael Vincennes, Butch Lee. That was one of the greatest college Olympic games I've ever seen. When Puerto Rico took the. I hated those guys. Grunfeld, Indiana, North Carolina, UCLA guys, Tennessee guy. Oh, college basketball in those days was boring.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
That's why when Digger Phelps came and Al McGuire.
Alan Hahn
That's what.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, forget it. Are you kidding? That's when basketball. The 60s. The only thing in the 60s college basketball was good was a Maravich. He was muscle. It was Maravich, name it. And Cassius Clay, Muhammad Ali. Those were the three biggest entertainers you're gonna. And you know, you guys always talk about Namath not having statistics. There has never been an athlete that looked like Joe Namath on the football field. Everything he did looked so perfect. His over, overhand motion, the way he true he was.
Alan Hahn
The only thing that didn't look right was the way he ran.
Ryan Reynolds
Well, that was later on.
Alan Hahn
Yeah. And then college. He was amazing to watch run right once those knees went. Now, I think you're gonna, you're, you're.
Peter Rosenberg
Gonna deny this, but, but I believe that if sports radio was a thing when you graduated from Columbia, with your knowledge, with your energy, I think you'd be an excellent sports talk show. Thank you.
Ryan Reynolds
Thank you. Very big back then.
Peter Rosenberg
Listen, but if given the opportunity, you know what would you, would you host an hour on our air?
Ryan Reynolds
No.
Peter Rosenberg
Why not?
Unknown
You wouldn't do it.
Peter Rosenberg
Give the people what they want.
Ryan Reynolds
Seriously, I think this, thank you.
Unknown
That would be tremendous.
Alan Hahn
I mean, this is what you asked.
Ryan Reynolds
But you guys don't realize how important you are. You look at this guys like us going with your, you know, all this is brain stuff. And you know, I do charts, my memory. I don't look at the computer. Everything goes through my mind. What you guys talk about. And this keep. This is better than crossword puzzles. This is better than reading books.
Alan Hahn
These facts.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, yeah.
Alan Hahn
Eventually Anthony's gonna yell at me. These facts. You, you. So you're not looking it up. Hey, do you remember. You're literally just recalling.
Ryan Reynolds
I remember the Peter Vessi article when he wrote about Toby Knight.
Alan Hahn
Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
He said he leaves his shirt out so it makes him look like he's working hard on defense.
Alan Hahn
I'll tell you what. I'm on the call. I'm on the call. San Antonio, when OG Anunobi's jersey's out, I'm going to say he's Toby Knight.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm telling you.
Alan Hahn
Well, that's what he, his jersey's always.
Ryan Reynolds
But in those days, Allen, you aren't allowed to shirt out.
Peter Rosenberg
I again, I, I, I'm, we're going to make this happen during the summer, one of us is going to go on vacation.
Unknown
I love what you're saying right now.
Peter Rosenberg
And I want Richard in Manhattan in.
Alan Hahn
The studio for an hour. In the studio for an hour. Who wants that?
Ryan Reynolds
Thank you.
Peter Rosenberg
You would do that?
Ryan Reynolds
I would.
Unknown
By the way, you'll be happy to know, Richard, I sent a picture of you to Michael K. Okay, thank you. He's marveling at how good looking you are. He can't. K can't believe it.
Ryan Reynolds
We're both from the Bronx.
Unknown
That's exactly right.
Ryan Reynolds
And I haven't left. I still have a house up in the Bronx.
Alan Hahn

Don, Hahn & Rosenberg Podcast - Hour 3: St. John's & Richard Summary
Release Date: March 14, 2025
In this engaging third hour of the Don, Hahn & Rosenberg podcast, hosts Alan Hahn and Peter Rosenberg delve deep into the resurgence of St. John's University basketball program and welcome a special guest, Richard from Manhattan. The episode seamlessly blends insightful sports analysis with lively interactions, providing listeners with a comprehensive overview of current sports dynamics in New York.
The primary focus of the episode centers on St. John's University's remarkable performance in the current basketball season. Alan Hahn kicks off the discussion by highlighting the team's historic achievement:
“St. John's won the regular season championship. Can they go on to win? This is the first time, by the way, that they outright won the Big East regular season in 40 years. Can they win the Big East tournament championship? I believe the last time was 2000.”
— Alan Hahn [07:26]
Peter Rosenberg echoes this excitement, emphasizing the program's revival:
“But it was 28 years ago, so odds are he's no longer with us, unfortunately.”
— Peter Rosenberg [03:45]
The hosts discuss the strategic moves by coach Rick Pitino, praising his ability to resurrect the program. Hahn notes Pitino's dedication and the sustainable success brought about by investments from NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) and other key initiatives:
“Rick Pitino has been nominated. He'll be up for it. I think he should win it. It's hard to argue another coach that did a better job when you consider again the program where it came from.”
— Alan Hahn [09:41]
Rosenberg adds his perspective on Pitino's longevity, expressing confidence in the coach's commitment to St. John's:
“I think this guy wants to coach forever if he could. But there's obviously an expiration date on everyone.”
— Peter Rosenberg [14:06]
The conversation also touches on the broader impact of St. John's success on New York's sports landscape, drawing parallels with other teams like the Mets and Knicks. Hahn asserts:
“I have always said this is a basketball town... having a team right here in New York, that is big, that, that's a huge part of it because it gives you a little more of a, of a home base or a hometown kind of feel.”
— Alan Hahn [17:49]
Peter Rosenberg passionately discusses how St. John's has reclaimed its relevance in a city dominated by various sports teams:
“Do you realize that at 6 o'clock we're reportedly being joined on the air by Richard live in person.”
— Unknown Host [27:00]
He further explains the unique position of St. John's in New York's sports ecosystem:
“St. John's was irrelevant and the college basketball was irrelevant. So when St. John's has resurrected their play and also resurrected a program and something that has not been relevant to this town in 25 years and has not been like ultra relevant going back almost 40 years.”
— Peter Rosenberg [12:48]
Rosenberg encapsulates the sentiment of the resurgence:
“It's literally back from the dead. Like I said, it's the prodigal son returning. They were always in the back of everybody's mind reminiscing about St. John. They're back.”
— Peter Rosenberg [13:21]
Midway through the episode, the hosts welcome Richard from Manhattan, a charismatic dentist with a vibrant presence. The segment is filled with humor and camaraderie as Richard shares snippets of his life and interacts with the hosts.
Rosenberg introduces Richard with enthusiasm:
“We're going to get a whole year to do this. Next March, we bring it back repackaged with Don, which you'll probably win every year.”
— Peter Rosenberg [27:28]
The conversation evolves into light-hearted banter, with Richard recounting amusing anecdotes and the hosts playfully teasing him about his appearance and profession. A notable moment occurs when Richard discusses his dental practice and his unwavering connection to New York:
“All my life. My mother was born a few blocks away this way this way. 98 years ago. My father was born a few blocks away this way this way.”
— Richard from Manhattan [39:37]
Rosenberg appreciates Richard's dedication:
“This is a thrill... It's pretty. Listen, we're honored to have you here.”
— Peter Rosenberg [37:54]
The segment concludes with heartfelt thanks and the hosts expressing their delight in having Richard on the show, setting the stage for future interactions.
Throughout the episode, the hosts actively engage with their audience, encouraging participation and feedback. They discuss the potential integration of video elements into the podcast, acknowledging listener requests:
“The video element is something I think we all can agree, we are hoping to add at some point soon.”
— Alan Hahn [05:35]
