This is the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast.
Don Hahn
That sounds like heaven to me.
Anthony
Listen live weekday afternoon starting at 3 on 8 80, ESPN, the ESPN New.
Joyce
York app and your smart speakers.
Anthony
I had diarrhea that you dream about. I gotta tell you underrated assist in that drop is Anthony's O in the middle.
Don Hahn
Well, I didn't know you were going there.
Anthony
That was the surprise. That's the piece. He really adds to it. I had diarrhea that you dream about.
Don Hahn
Well, because he didn't have that on his bingo card. That that's the word that would come out. Well, that's the thing that you dream about such things.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Anthony
And it made me ask Don during a break who invented like you dream about Don or Michael.
Don Hahn
I think it's Michael you think like.
Anthony
You dream about is a Michaelism.
Don Hahn
Yes.
Anthony
That's one of his best pieces that.
Don Hahn
Are a read about. I think I'm more of a read about guy.
Anthony
I like you read about.
Don Hahn
I think Michael uses both. It's. It's interesting.
Anthony
They're both valuable. 1-800-919-3776 I closed out his show today.
Don Hahn
I thought it was pretty nice.
Anthony
What did you guys talk about on there? He didn't invite me. I wasn't invited.
Don Hahn
Not because I happened to. Because you didn't swing in and say hello. You didn't do the drive by.
Anthony
I didn't. I did not.
Don Hahn
And we're just talking about what we opened the show with. About how the jets should give up the seventh overall pick for Tomlin and Michael disagreed. You build through the draft and you can't keep giving these picks away. I'm like if you don't have a coach, it doesn't matter anyway.
Anthony
Touche.
Don Hahn
But it was a good conversation. Let's.
Anthony
Let's pick up with the phone call, shall we? Because Drake has been on hold in Pauff keepsie for a very long time. Hey, Drake and Poughkeepsie, what's up?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I wanted to talk about the fan mascot situation. What I really think we ought to do is have Don break it down the only way he knows how. In a glorious top five segment. You know there are four days left in the week. Four major sports. Maybe we do both teams. Two lists a day. That would be tremendous. But I wanted to clarify that Adam Sandler cannot be the number one jets fan because he's more a Bruins fan than a Jets fan by far. I know the Bruins aren't a local team, obviously, but if we're doing the Clippers thing.
Don Hahn
I didn't even know he was a Bruins fan. I know he. I know he wore the Bruins jersey.
Peter Rosenberg
And Happy Gilmore, he's from Manchester, New Hampshire. He's a Bruinson born and raised in. In the world and in the womb, as they say.
Don Hahn
I don't really. I don't know that well.
Anthony
He. Drake's telling. You're doubting Drake?
Don Hahn
Yes. Be honest with me. Look at me. Look at me for a second.
Anthony
Me or him?
Don Hahn
Be honest. No, him.
Anthony
I hung up.
Don Hahn
He only thinks that because of Happy Gilmore. Because I could also talk about what was the one where he's got to watch the kid. Big Daddy. Yeah, he's a Ranger fan.
Anthony
It's a good point.
Don Hahn
So. But he's been a Jet fan pretty much in everything, right? Little Nicky, which was a God awful movie. You hate it reference there references being a Jet fan in Big Daddy. No, I don't know him to be a Bruin fan at all.
Anthony
Sandler is a fan according to AI of the Bruins. But by the way, I just want you to know AI is completely unreliable.
Don Hahn
I think AI is also going because of Happy Gilmore. Because if they go through the reservoir of information, all they're going to see is pictures of him in a Bruin jersey. And that's because of Happy Gilmore, right?
Anthony
Yeah. It's hard to find any information beyond.
Don Hahn
We should ask Michael. Michael knows him. He was in.
Anthony
Michael knows him.
Don Hahn
He was in a movie 15 years ago.
Anthony
If it was a day he doesn't remember.
Don Hahn
Was it that long ago? Yeah, it was before you started you joined the show. So that was nine years ago when was Grown Ups 2. I want to say 2011. Let's see.
Anthony
It's been a minute.
Don Hahn
2013.
Anthony
I'm gonna try to find out. I'm gonna get to the bottom of this.
Don Hahn
I don't. I. I would bet. I'm Not. I'm not saying he's not. Maybe. Maybe a fan, but like a big. That he's a bigger fan than the Jets. I think he's a bigger Jeff and a Bruin fan.
Anthony
Let's go to Lang in Connecticut.
Don Hahn
Why not? Hey, Lang name.
Lang
Here I am again, folks.
Anthony
On your own.
Lang
Knicks pregame three game losing streak. Okay? They shot 24% from three point land. It's unsustainable. It's unsustainable to rely on Brunson scoring 40 plus points. You saw what happened last game. He got hurt champagne making threes. It's not sustainable. I'm a huge Tibbs guy loving the death from his first foray in. In the late 1990s. He loves to say two things. The magic is in the work. The game tells you what to do. Well, guess what? The game told Mike D'Antoni what to do during man 70. If it wasn't for Mike putting Jeremy Lynn, we would never have man sanity. You got a career 40% three point shooter, rotten away on your bench. Fine. 10 to 15 minutes, put Matt Ryan in. Steve Novak made a career out of it. People say Matt Ryan's a liability on defense. I don't think so. I think he rebounds. He's taller than Novak. He can get in there, save the four and knock down three.
Anthony
How do you know? How do you? About what? Matt Ryan's right. This is your cousin.
Don Hahn
You played well with him.
Lang
He lit up the Knicks when he was on the pelicans. That's how I know.
Don Hahn
He.
Anthony
He. He's averaging half a rebound. You're saying if he gets in, if he gets the pt look, it's like.
Lang
A blast on the Pelicans. He hasn't aged. The body physiologically does not decay that much when you're in your 20s. Okay, in.
Peter Rosenberg
In.
Lang
In three to four years.
Anthony
All right, in the Pelicans.
Lang
Like Thibodeau is stubborn. He's stubborn and he's cost players. They're getting hurt and it's costing us games.
Don Hahn
I don't disagree that he could distribute the minutes better, but you can't just be talking about linsanity. We're holding Matt Ryan back for becoming the next great player on the team.
Anthony
He had 40 rebounds as a pelican. Not in a game, not on a weekend. As a pelican. Am I misreading this, Peter?
Don Hahn
I'm looking up his stats.
Anthony
He did shoot good from 3 though. As a pelican, I'll tell you that. I give credit where credit is due.
Don Hahn
But he's 27 years old. He's bounced around. He's been Boston Lakers T. Wolves Pelicans.
Anthony
Quarterback for the Falcons for several years now.
Don Hahn
He's working over at cbs.
Anthony
He does a great job.
Don Hahn
And I think that hurts the fact he can come off the bench because that takes him out of the weekend games during football season. He's like, you know, Kenny Albert not being able to ranger.
Anthony
I just want to say to the gentleman who just called. You called to complain that Tibbs should be playing someone to get more rebounding. This is a man who has 70 rebounds in his entire NBA career. Are you high, man? Again, in the words of Stephen A, put down the weed.
Don Hahn
And it's the second time he called. I don't remember was I here the first time? Because I don't.
Alan
Alan was here.
Don Hahn
Yeah, I think I like.
Alan
And he handled the similarly to how you guys. I think if Lang calls again about Matt Ryan, I think we might have to have a different topic.
Anthony
These were both Matt Ryan calls. Yes.
Alan
Big Matt Ryan guy, by the way.
Anthony
By the way, Matt Ryan's family just reached out. You know what they said?
Don Hahn
Thank you.
Anthony
Let's stop. We have to stop. You have to stop with the weed or the gummies, the mushroom, maybe the shroom.
Don Hahn
See, I don't know if it's. If Matt Ryan's in his family or whether he's just trying to show, like, how much basketball he knows that this is the guy that's being landlocked. I do agree. You can't keep throwing out the same eight every single night. There is a bit, but they don't.
Anthony
Have the guys there.
Don Hahn
But that's the problem.
Anthony
That's the problem.
Don Hahn
Needs to try to get the Ben. And I think they will address that at the deadline. I think they will bring in other bodies to help with the bench for sure, because that's an easy thing to fix. But come on, let's go to.
Anthony
Let's go to Dave in West Caldwell. Hey, Dave.
Dave
Hey, guys. Hey, guys. How's it going?
Anthony
How you doing, man?
Dave
Doing good. I have a question about the Giants and the draft and everything. I know. Don, you mentioned you don't always have to have that number one overall pick to get that quarterback. And obviously we don't have it with the third pick. But I just don't think Jador and Ward will be there. I think both teams ahead will take quarterbacks or trade out where someone will get them. I don't want to mortgage the future. So if you're not going to take a quarterback and Everything. They have so many needs. If there's a specific need the Giants have, which one would you take?
Don Hahn
Well, there's a lot of needs. I mean, Hunter is going to definitely help out. I would think in a secondary, there's a need there. I still think there's a need for another wide receiver. The offensive line is still kind of a mess. So what I look at, Dave, is when you need a bunch of different things, wouldn't it be better to trade down, get other. Get multiple picks and start addressing other areas than thinking there's going to be one guy at three that is going to save everything? Now, I don't know how they feel about the quarterbacks. They might not like the quarterbacks anyway, and we'll see if either of these two guys drop. But if you need a lot of different things, like, what do they need? They have nothing in the secondary. You don't love their linebackers. Although I wouldn't take a linebacker that high in the draft. Another wide receiver, I think would be helpful. And obviously you need the quarterback. So I would think trading down to me would make the most sense unless there's a player that they're absolutely in love with. And if it's not a quarterback, I still do it.
Dave
Agreed. I think Hunter is a twofold. Because he wants to play both sides of the ball where if he ever gets hurt, hurts his hamstring or something.
Don Hahn
Crazy, you lose two players.
Dave
Corner and a receiver, right? He lose two players. So I don't think. I think the value. Let someone else take him would be better. I know everyone talks about that. I think it's Arizona State wide receiver. Don't know if that would make sense because obviously then who's going to throw him the ball and I don't know which one. You know, at one point in time, we had the top draft picks projected at the start of the college season, which were Thibodeau and Evan Neal after trading back. So it's like, you know, it's a crapshoot. I get it.
Anthony
It is.
Don Hahn
That's why I freaked out Dave over the draft, because you just don't know what these guys are going to end up being. Now, there was a lot of question marks about Thibodeau. If you remember, the jets apparently interviewed him, didn't want him passed on him. But everybody thought Evan Neal was going to be a stud and you couldn't. Now he can't even get on the field. So I just want as many options as I can. There's a lot of holes and the One thing, Dave, and thank you for the phone call that this division has bought them, I think is some time, because you're really delusional, and I think John Maher is delusional if he thinks that it's all going to come together in one season. When you're looking at a division where Washington's playing in the divisional round, Philadelphia is playing in the divisional round, Dallas has a load of talent and might actually, you know, pick a coach that can actually make them better. And they're better right now. So if I know I'm finishing last in my division, Peter, as frustrated as the fans are and it's been a miserable two seasons, doesn't that command you to be patient? What do you. What's the quick fix, Peter? What's the quick fix? You can't make the playoffs if you're finishing last in your division. Right. Odds are against you because the other two teams are going to be two of the three wild cards. So, I mean, if I, if I'm stuck in that and I got to play those teams a total of six times and you look at their home schedule, Kansas City's coming to town. San Francisco's coming to town. Minnesota's coming to town.
Anthony
Oh, my God. Speaking of the schedule, I could not believe watching playoff football over the weekend and them airing the commercial for jets season tickets. Have you.
Don Hahn
Do you see it? Yeah. Well, you got to do it, right?
Anthony
I get it, but it's just like, I know they have to do it, but in the, in the thing, it's picture, it's Rogers the whole time. It's just like tons of Aaron Rodgers. And then it shows the schedule, the home schedule for next year. I'm like, what person on earth, how dumb would you have to be to run to your phone and go, babe, we got to get these Jet season tickets for next year.
Don Hahn
You know what's interesting? And I know, listen, Rogers, you're going to have a lot of highlights of him, but you don't know if he's coming back or not. So you're selling season tickets and no, I wonder the logic because are you trying to tell your fan base Rodgers is coming back and that he's marketable and you might buy season tickets because of Aaron Rodgers or if he's not coming back. Are you saying that I can't show Wilson because he's demanding a trade? Who do you show sauce coming off a tough state? How do you show a corner? You know, it's interesting that you're hearing Rogers isn't coming Back. Rich Samini said he'd bet he's not coming back. But is he still the most marketable guy on the team?
Anthony
We were sent a. Kofi sent us a clip here.
Don Hahn
Okay.
Anthony
Video of Adam Sandler, okay. Acknowledging that he grew up a Ranger fan.
Don Hahn
Okay. So I was right.
Anthony
So in other words, the Bruins thing. That's not true.
Don Hahn
That caller was completely going off Happy Gilmore, which I get.
Anthony
I mean, apparently he has family and friends that are Bruins fans. That's why he did it. It's not for him. Wow. How do you like that, I wonder.
Don Hahn
Like, we joke with Billy Crystal. Like, I called him a fraud because he wore a mat hat in even.
Anthony
Though he explained it to us City stickers.
Don Hahn
But he explained the reasoning is because they donated a ton of money to Comic Relief and he promised he would wear the hat.
Michael
Right.
Don Hahn
Like, what's the logic of. Is it. Are there focus groups to say that this might make the movie more popular if you pretend to be a fan of this team? Like, what was the logic behind wearing the brewing.
Anthony
Well, if it's friends and family because he's from the area, it's kind of like a nod to your people.
Don Hahn
Yeah, but if he grew up a Ranger fan, then it's his movie, right?
Anthony
Yeah, but also he is a New England person and he's playing at. The character was pretty Sandlerish. I can see how you're just being like, I'm playing a New England person. I'm not playing Adam Sandler, who happened to be a Ranger fan. But I'm playing my type of person that's from this area. I get that.
Don Hahn
My guess. But I just also wonder, like, the logic sometimes of, like, why I think sometimes there's lot.
Anthony
I wonder if. My guess is sometimes there's zero logic whatsoever. It's sort of random. I wonder if it's ever strategic beyond this is the area where the film's supposed to be.
Don Hahn
Right. But when you do New York, you can go multiple directions or you gotta get approval. The other story that I heard was that the Yankees wanted to get paid, so it was easy for Billy to just say, I'm gonna wear the met hat because I don't want to. I'd rather save a few thousand bucks on the budget of the movie by just wearing the mad hat. So I don't know.
Anthony
I don't. Could a team charge to show the movie?
Don Hahn
I guess it's there. It's licensed.
Anthony
Right.
Don Hahn
I mean, I'm sure you gotta pay some sort of a fee.
Anthony
I don't know. If that's true, that is a very specific legal thing that I'm sure we get an answer to. In a film. If a character's wearing the hat of a team, is that team owed anything or is it seen from a legal standpoint as like your hat and your logo is out there as part of the world?
Don Hahn
I don't. Knowing the way that Hollywood works, it might be just like a time thing. Like if it's just something that's in their brief, you probably don't. But in City Slickers he wore the hat pretty much the entire movie.
Anthony
The entire movie? Yeah, pretty much.
Don Hahn
That's.
Anthony
That's correct.
Don Hahn
So I don't know. I. Who. Who the heck knows?
Anthony
That's. You know what. Speaking of hockey, Ranger Vinnie and Queens Rangers. What up?
Don Hahn
Hey, Vinny.
Anthony
Hey guys, how are you? Thanks for taking my call, Don. Listen, are the Rangers back?
Dave
Man?
Peter Rosenberg
41 and 1 in 6 to start the year.
Don Hahn
I think the Banajad look the best he has so far this season. I think they're only going to get.
Anthony
Healthier with he'll hopefully coming back tomorrow Kreider soon. And Igor is looking like himself too. What do you think?
Don Hahn
Well, it's two, it's twofold and I think they're connected. Sabanajad has points in six consecutive games. The power play is turned around and it's turned around because Abanajad now is a part of that power play and you get, you get Igor back and he wins the two games since he's been back. So you got your goalie, you got Sabana jab playing well. Hopefully you get Crider back soon. Listen, they were playing so God awful but all we asked was for some consistency. And four, one and one. They've won two in a row for the first time in almost two months. And I got to tell you I was impressed with Saturday's win in Vegas. That's the best team in the NHL. They were coming off a 4 nothing loss to the Islanders and the Rangers I thought outplayed them. They had a great first period and the fourth line produced the game winning goal and there's a lot to like. Let's see what they do tomorrow against Colorado who's been up and down. They should be able to beat Utah on Thursday. Maybe it the start of something here man. We said show me something and now they're starting to show you something. Kind of like the Mets. Remember I said it looks like their season's over. Show me something. They went on a toot. Let's see if the Rangers are on the verge of doing that. Then they come back on Saturday. Peter, play Columbus. Columbus has the last playoff spot, so it's right there for them. Let's see, that's a big game tomorrow, which will be on our air with coverage beginning at 8:30.
Anthony
That'll be a little something. Rangers and Avalanche, 1-800-919-3776. All of this and so much more the rest of the way. Peter and Don on Don, Han and Rosenberg on 889 New York.
Joyce
Guys, may I introduce you to an SUV where everything for every passenger feels just right. That, of course, is the all new 2025 Infiniti QX80. It's my family's favorite new car. It's the one that all the the girls whenever we go somewhere, can we take that? Can we take the Infiniti? Can we take the Infinity? They love this car. Why? Because it's Infiniti's most luxurious full size 3 row SUV. It's full of customizable and advanced features. I'll tell you all about the great speaker system, the fact that you can take calls that say isolated to the driver's seat so it's personal. You don't have to have the who hearing your conversation. That's awesome. There's all kinds of customizable things in it as well. And by the way, so you know, my youngest daughter plays hockey and so we have tournaments to go to, we have practices to go to and we always carpool with other families. We had three hockey bags, three girls from the team, and of course my wife, myself and my other daughter. All in the infinity, all together, all comfortable, going for the ride, watching some hockey. And Callie had a hat trick, by the way. She was player of the game, so that's the kind of thing I'm talking about. This is the perfect family car. So I just gave you a few of the many amazing new features available on the all new Infiniti QX80. But how about you discover you just right? Visit infinityusa.com to learn more about the all new Infiniti QX80. Availability of features may vary by trim level, packaging and options. Thanks for listening to the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast.
Anthony
I didn't listen to anything you just said.
Joyce
Catch the show on demand whenever you want.
Anthony
Just subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts. 880 ESPN New York. Listen, I'm not gonna tell you I'm a hero, but I just did something that was heroic.
Don Hahn
What is that? You did leave the room. I didn't know what for?
Anthony
Well, I went to the bathroom.
Don Hahn
Okay. So what heroic thing did you do in the bathroom?
Anthony
Someone, somewhat within the last couple hours, murdered a gigantic roach in the other room. One of you, in all likelihood. My guess, someone here. And this is like Clue. This is like the game Clue. Someone murdered a gigantic disgusting roach.
Don Hahn
Why is we talking about that?
Anthony
Hold on. But they left the carcass of this filthy, disgusting monster of a bug smooshed laying in the middle of the hallway out in the office.
Don Hahn
Okay.
Anthony
And I, being a hero, took a bunch of paper towels and went and picked up this disgusting filth. Because no human being should have to walk through their office. Even if I don't know the other people who randomly show up on this floor, which we don't, and see a carcass like that.
Don Hahn
And obviously this wasn't something that was like stepped on accidentally. Didn't realize.
Michael
Oh, no, it wasn't stepped on the way I found it, Peter. And I'm glad you added the second part. So when I went to the bathroom earlier, I want to say about the 4:00, maybe actually the beginning of the 5:00 hour.
Anthony
Go ahead. I know what you're gonna say.
Michael
I found the big better basket, the basketball History of Basketball book book. Right next to the carcass of the. Of the water bug roach thing that was on the floor by the men's bathroom. So I put two. I saw. Okay, okay. Somebody immediately smashed it. I picked up the book, put on the table. But I did have somebody in mind. I just won't say who.
Anthony
You think it's one of our people?
Michael
Yeah, but I don't think this person is in a building anymore.
Alan
Oh, my.
Don Hahn
I mean today or ever?
Michael
Oh, just today.
Don Hahn
I. This is.
Anthony
Well, it had to happen.
Alan
It's been the busiest that this place has been in, like, months with how many people are here today.
Anthony
Really?
Don Hahn
I didn't.
Anthony
John and I saw this at the same time and we both like, wow, someone used a gigantic book to smash this bug. The odd thing is, though, the book is next to the bug. You'd think it would be on top of the bug. I guess they moved it to check if it was successful.
Don Hahn
I guess that's probably what happened.
Anthony
But then left the book and the bug.
Don Hahn
Right. Who?
Anthony
Can you give me. You think Michael did this?
Michael
I don't think Michael did it. I don't even think he got that close to the bug to even really see it.
Anthony
Who do you think did it, Don? Because that's a crazy thing to do to leave A giant.
Don Hahn
When did this happen? Give me a time.
Anthony
I saw the bug alive. I saw the bug alive around 4:00. 3:30.
Don Hahn
3:30.
Anthony
So it happened between 3:30 and maybe 4:30 that the murder took place.
Don Hahn
So that leaves basically present companies excluded here.
Anthony
Anthony, you didn't do it.
Alan
I did not do it. No. I wouldn't be ashamed to do it. And I would have probably.
Don Hahn
Joe Leo, I don't think was here.
Anthony
Joe Leo was.
Don Hahn
So we're talking about our pinhead suit?
Anthony
No, I was with him. If. Let me say this, a likely story.
Alan
You were with him and he was with you.
Anthony
If John Winthrop did it and pretended the way he did, then he is even more psychotic than I thought. If I. If I thought him just. The only concert that he's been to in his life, being Celine Dion, was what makes him psycho. This bug murder. And then pretending like I don't know who did this, that would make him an even different level psycho. Like the trips to Disney that. The thousands of trips to Disney. The Celine Dion concert. It would pale.
Don Hahn
Pale to the bug murder. I don't know why we're hiding the person's identity.
Anthony
Who do you think did it?
Don Hahn
I don't know who was here.
Alan
It carries a heavy prison sentence.
Anthony
Who do you think did it? Jacob, tell us. Who do you think did it? Now?
Michael
I think it was a producer. Now, which producer was it? I'd rather not say which show was it.
Alan
Narrows it down.
Don Hahn
Oh, then you know what? If it's who I think it is, there's no remorse. So I don't know why you're hiding. I'm sure it was Dinahan. You're just a freak.
Michael
I'm a fan of the guy.
Anthony
Wait, wait. So do you know it was Dinahan or you think it was?
Michael
I think it was Dinahan.
Don Hahn
Well, it sounds like it's Dinahan. Dinahan's not gonna. And Dinahan probably figured I shouldn't have to be doing this. I'm disgusted by it. Let them figure it out. That's what his attitude is, and I don't blame him.
Anthony
Wait, wait, wait. But you just said you wouldn't do that.
Don Hahn
No, I hate bugs. I wouldn't even. I would just.
Anthony
You would just avoid it.
Don Hahn
I would just avoid it and pretend I didn't see it. I would not go ahead and try to kill it. But he grabbed. What am I doing here?
Anthony
But it's like a nice book. He grabbed, like a nice big sort of expensive book. Dropped it on the bug, murdering this innocent water bug that's just trying to live its life. And that's fine. I get it. But then you leave the murder weapon smeared and smudged right next to the bug. This is who Michael wants to produce. The Michael K. Show. This is dangerous to have a man like this around.
Don Hahn
I don't think he has an ounce of remorse.
Michael
I honestly think Michael needs a guy like that on his team.
Anthony
Is that what you think?
Don Hahn
I think Michael will be on board with it too.
Anthony
Listen, obviously I understand killing a water bug. They're terrifying looking creatures. But you can't leave the filth there for other people to now walk by. Anthony, you saw it.
Alan
I didn't see it. This is all a rumor to me. Which also makes me sound culpable. But no, I have never.
Anthony
It really does.
Alan
I've never seen this bug.
Anthony
Really?
Alan
Never.
Anthony
You don't know this bug?
Alan
I don't know this bug.
Don Hahn
Now, the book you're talking about. It's huge. Could have killed like a dog. I mean, this thing is. No, it's a mess. It even has. It's almost like something from Harry Potter. Like it's the book of basketball. But it looks like it's from like the 1800s.
Anthony
That's why.
Don Hahn
A scroll.
Michael
Initially, when I saw it, I'm like, I'm surprised the bug wasn't smushed a little more than it was.
Anthony
I know. It kind of like that. Reminds you how crazy these bugs are, though. God, but he's kidding. Imagine dying that way.
Don Hahn
That's just rude. I'm not a bug guy.
Anthony
No, me neither. You know, but Don, I'll tell you one thing. When you saw that bug, you know what you thought?
Don Hahn
This isn't North Dakota. This is New York.
Anthony
It's a very New York bug. Scary.
Don Hahn
Yeah. And that's why I'd be afraid. Like, if I threw that. That basketball book on it and it didn't work.
Anthony
Oh, geez.
Don Hahn
Then what do we do?
Anthony
You want to see the matter now?
Don Hahn
We're in the middle of a confrontation. Yeah.
Anthony
No, they got a beef now.
Don Hahn
Now it's his turn. We go blow for blow.
Anthony
Some of these books.
Don Hahn
You should take a picture. This book is immense.
Anthony
Wait, he's wiping the book down. Is it still. Is there a stain on it?
Michael
I didn't bother wiping it down.
Anthony
Oh, my.
Michael
I just picked it up.
Anthony
But there's a stain. You see? Guts.
Don Hahn
Just the fact that there are guts.
Anthony
Jolio says there's guts on the. On the book. Oh, my God, this place. I gotta tell you, this is disgusting. Let's go to C.J. in Brooklyn. Hey, C.J.
Don Hahn
Yeah. Help us.
CJ
Hey, guys. Peter, Don, how's it going? I had a quick point for both of you, Don. I just wanted to kind of respond to the Chiefs point, and I totally agree. The Chiefs haven't been dominant, you know, this year like they have in previous years.
Don Hahn
Right.
CJ
It's probably not, you know, smart if you're betting person to go with them, but I feel like, you know, when the lights shine the brightest, when they're matching up against the Bills and the Ravens, you know, until Lamar and Allen have proven that they're able to get it done against Mahomes, he. They're still the boogeyman for both of those two quarterbacks.
Don Hahn
You're right.
CJ
When you pair. When you pair that up with Andy Reid, one of the most dominant coaches of this generation after, you know, after Bill Belichick, there's not a tactical situation that he hasn't seen in all the years of football that he's been around to where that combination isn't dead for them to kind of be favored when the matchups come.
Don Hahn
All right, listen, I doubted them last year when they had two road games and they found a way to still win the Super Bowl. But the one thing that the one prevailing thought is, well, two, number one, first and foremost is they just have not impressed me this year the way Baltimore has, the way Buffalo has number one. The other is, man, you just don't win three Super Bowls in a row. I mean, it just, it just. It's going to be hard now if they get there. I think they've got an excellent chance to win because Detroit's never been there before. I think they're better than Philadelphia. But I look at Baltimore, I look at Buffalo, I just feel it's like the winner of that Buffalo Baltimore game is going to be so well tested than whatever Houston's able to put up against Kansas City. I just think you're going to. You're going to be going up against. Think about the team that they're going to face in Kansas City in the championship game, a Buffalo team coming off a win over Baltimore or vice versa. Right? It just. And you just. And you probably beat the Texans 21.
Anthony
But isn't that what, Isn't that what Kansas City does?
Don Hahn
But. But it's got to win. You don't win three in a row. All right? Just. It doesn't happen. I don't want it to happen and to go. I just think that I, I really think. Here's what I'll say And I could be wrong. And if I'm wrong, I'll be on that Monday to take it. All right, the winner. I believe the winner of Baltimore Buffalo is winning the whole thing, because I think Detroit's just too banged up defensively. They had never been there before. I think I'm not in love with the renegade coach that they have with Campbell. I think the winner of Buffalo Baltimore this weekend is winning the Super Bowl. And if I'm wrong, I'll be right here to say it.
Anthony
We're going to talk to more people, but I got to tell you, I'm looking at this book, this whole basketball rules book. It's a gimmick. It's. It's fake.
Don Hahn
Yeah. What is it? It's.
Anthony
It says rules of basketball. It's got a huge thing. It looks like an old, like, Bible or something.
Don Hahn
I just see a bunch of blank pages.
Anthony
Blank pages and then, like, the middle pages. Someone, like, made it. It's like a project. What dork did this? Like, what is going on with this thing?
Don Hahn
Yeah, this is somebody that loves basketball. I've never felt the. A woman.
Anthony
I'm gonna. I'm gonna. I'm gonna go on IG live right now and show people this.
Don Hahn
I don't understand what's going on with this. Honestly, it's one of the strangest segments I've ever been a part of. And I've been at this radio station for 23 plus years, and a lot of weird conversations have been had. This is right up there as the weirdest. Talking about killing a bug and accusing whoever did it of murder.
Anthony
Yeah, bug murder.
Don Hahn
Peter claiming to be a hero for cleaning the mess.
Anthony
I am a hero. Everyone else who's scared.
Don Hahn
And the rules of basketball, which is as big a book as I've ever seen. And half the pages are empty.
Anthony
The pages that are full, not half. 95% are empty.
Don Hahn
I really don't know what's going on here.
Alan
Why did it need to be that big then?
Anthony
I don't understand. All right, I'm going.
Don Hahn
Somebody had aspirations and just didn't live up to it.
Joyce
Thanks for listening to the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast.
Anthony
I didn't listen to anything you just said.
Joyce
Catch this show on demand whenever you want.
Anthony
Just subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts. All right, well, I guess we're down to the last eight minutes or so of the program. Big foosball tonight. National championships next week, 20th, a week from tonight to you and me.
Don Hahn
So that'll be good because we had the Monday game here following the playoffs. And then next weekend we'll have another Monday game following the playoffs. We're getting plenty of football.
Anthony
Anthony, does that mean that McAfee is gonna have to take off? Week three of raw and Netflix feels like it, right?
Alan
He'd have to. He'd have to be there, right?
Anthony
Yeah, he has to be doing a broadcast.
Alan
He would have to be at the national championship, the ESPN2 version of the megacast.
Don Hahn
Yeah, he's been.
Anthony
I bet he's been getting big numbers on the McAfee broadcast.
Alan
He was there today. AJ was at the. At the facility, at the compound.
Anthony
I know. And then I saw that he was already at Raw.
Don Hahn
Oh, yeah.
Alan
No, Pat is at Raw on these days, so that's where it's kind of interesting. I don't know what's going to happen.
Anthony
You know, I gotta tell you, that's the useful part about the private chat.
Alan
Let's get Pat on.
Anthony
All right, cool. I'm gonna send him a text. I'm sure he'll be on by the. By the time the show ends in eight minutes. Let's pick up good old Jonathan in la. Jonathan, how is the. We know that you're not in LA proper. How is the air quality where you're at? And where are you at? Long Beach.
Peter Rosenberg
Hi, guys.
Don Hahn
Hi, guys.
Peter Rosenberg
In a city called Downey, California, It's a little northern than Long Beach. Yeah, Northern end. No, man, the air quality is much better than when I called last week. It's clear it's better. But yeah, it was the right call moving the game to Arizona because there's still a little fires in there. But now the damage has been done. Now it's just a matter of just getting back up and rebuild. Guys, I have a. I have two questions actually for you. Peter, I've been wanting to ask you, man. It's funny because my son is 7 years old and he was born around the time that dominant twins were born. December 4th.
Anthony
Wow. The day before.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes. And my daughter. I'm not about to have a daughter in two weeks. She expected on January 25th.
Anthony
Wait, 26?
Don Hahn
You said 25th.
Peter Rosenberg
The 25th.
Don Hahn
That's.
Anthony
That's my.
Peter Rosenberg
That's our.
Anthony
That's our due date.
Don Hahn
The. Dude you gonna have a serious connection to this show. Wow. Gotta find out when. Alan?
Lang
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
I wanted to ask you, Peter, like, it's my second child. I know it's your first, but it's been seven years. I'm only older. I was 27 at the time. I'm 35 now. Are you nervous, bro? Are we in the same boat? Because I'm a little nervous, but I'm trying to, I'm trying to man up. Or Don.
Anthony
Well, you've, the thing is you've been through both parts. You've been through the delivery part and you've been through the parenting part. You're not, are you, are you nervous about the parenting part? Just because you're doubling up like, and obviously it's going to be twice the work.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm only getting older and I don't know, my energy and waking up at 2, 3 in the morning. I mean, I was 27 when I had my first show, but I mean, and then I see someone like Don already, I'm like, oh man, if Don could do it with twins, I'm gonna be a problem with grown people. I mean, 35 years old out of here.
Don Hahn
Second time's always easier, obviously. I mean, I, I, I had my two at the same time, they're twins. But everybody tells me that it'll be old hat. It'll come right back to you. You, you know, you're not going to have the apprehension you had the first time around where you didn't know what to expect. You're going to know what to expect now and, and, and your 7 year old and I can't say get, take care of himself, but, but at 7, you can focus a little bit more on the newborn and trust that your other child will be okay. So now you're going to do, you're going to be fine, man. You're going to be fine.
Anthony
You got this, Jonathan.
Don Hahn
You got it, baby.
Peter Rosenberg
Really appreciate it. Guys, guys, really quick. Three teams. I need to place my best three teams that are going to win the Super Bowl. All right, if you guys could tell me that. And I need to choose three teams.
Anthony
So three teams that you think I listen, I think Don said it right. You like Baltimore, Buffalo, Buffalo, Detroit or Detroit.
Don Hahn
Yeah, that. Those are my three teams. Now obviously one of them is going to be gone in Buffalo or Baltimore. They're playing each other, right.
Anthony
One's gone this weekend, guaranteed. I kind of like, it's interesting to leave out Kansas City. Even though I hear you, I'll have.
Don Hahn
Egg all over my face if they win it again and again. It's not because I don't like them. It's not because I'm sick of them. I just, I watched a lot of Chiefs. They're on national television a lot and I just feel like they caught a bunch of breaks in their wins. I just don't think they're as good as Buffalo and Baltimore. And one of those two is going to be going to Kansas City. And why do I just feel like Peter, Kansas City will win the game. Really won't be in doubt. They'll win like 2110, 2113, and they're going to go up against a team that just came off a mammoth win against one of the best teams in football. Right. Buffalo, Baltimore.
Anthony
But I think that's worked to Casey's advantage in the past is catching teams who are coming off of a really tough game. Although last year Casey didn't get the buy.
Don Hahn
No. And they surprised me last year because they had the home game right out of the box and then they had to go on the road for two games like they're not doing it. And they did it. But to win three, to get to the super bowl three times in a row, it's hard, man. Buffalo did it four times. But, you know, I just think it's. Those are some beasts that they're going to have to go up against.
Anthony
Guys, if you want to help, if you want to help the good people of Southern California affected by the California wildfires of 2025, donate@redcross.org ESPN redcross.org ESPN to help Red Cross help people out. I posted earlier, a great legendary hip hop producer, Madlib, lost his home. Completely lost everything. And I posted about it and said, let's help because there's a fund to raise money for him. And immediately I see a tweet that's like, you want to try to help people who aren't millionaires. How do you know with this guy's situation? People just are always looking for something to say.
Don Hahn
I just can't.
Anthony
By the way, you gotta stop judging how rich people are. You really don't know. I mean, unless we tell you that Kim Kardashian lost her home, you really don't know what people have. Everyone's so sure, Don, that it's easy for everyone to lose a home. Not a big deal.
Don Hahn
Yeah, they just. If you lost everything, everything, that means you've gotta go and you've gotta buy all new clothes, you gotta find another home, whatever that you law. All your possessions are gone. Everything that was in that house was gone. You could be very well off. And obviously you live in that area. But now you got to start from scratch. So. And we don't know that all those people are millionaires or billionaires.
Anthony
And by the way, a lot of people have homes that have stayed in their families. And they're able to have the home because it's in their family, not because they're rich.
Don Hahn
Right. And also the insurance situation is screwed up there. So it's not like they're gonna. They might not get a ton of money from the insurance and have to start from scratch. Stop. All right? Not everybody out there is Billy Crystal, you know, who's been able to work in Hollywood for four decades and be able to accumulate wealth. But don't get in everybody's pocket, okay? They wouldn't be asking for it unless they really need it.
Anthony

Podcast Summary: Don, Hahn & Rosenberg – Hour 4: Bug Murder
Episode Details:
Introduction to the Episode
In "Hour 4: Bug Murder," hosts Don La Greca, Alan Hahn, and Peter Rosenberg dive into a mix of New York sports commentary, humorous banter, and a peculiar office mystery involving a dead roach. The episode seamlessly blends lighthearted discussions with in-depth analyses of current sports events, making it both entertaining and informative for listeners.
1. Fan Mascot Debate: Adam Sandler's Team Affiliation
The episode kicks off with a lively debate about Adam Sandler's sports team loyalties. Peter Rosenberg brings up the contentious claim that Sandler is a Bruins fan rather than a Jets supporter, sparking a humorous back-and-forth among the hosts.
Peter Rosenberg: "Adam Sandler cannot be the number one Jets fan because he's more a Bruins fan than a Jets fan by far." [02:14]
Don Hahn: "I didn't even know he was a Bruins fan... He wore the Bruins jersey in Happy Gilmore." [02:56]
The discussion touches on Sandler's movie references and whether his on-screen affiliations reflect his personal fandom. The hosts humorously question the reliability of AI in determining celebrity team preferences.
2. Knicks Performance and Matt Ryan's Role
Alan Lang from Connecticut calls in to discuss the New York Knicks' struggling performance, particularly focusing on Matt Ryan's contributions as a three-point shooter and defensive player.
Alan Lang: "They're relying on Brunson scoring 40 plus points. It's not sustainable." [05:02]
Don Hahn: "You can't keep throwing out the same eight every single night... holding Matt Ryan back from becoming the next great player on the team." [06:49]
The hosts analyze the Knicks' strategy under coach Thibodeau, debating whether trading down in the draft to acquire multiple picks would benefit the team more than relying on high-risk, high-reward players like Matt Ryan.
3. Aaron Rodgers in Jets Season Ticket Ads
A significant portion of the episode critiques the New York Jets' decision to feature Aaron Rodgers in their season ticket advertisements, especially amidst rumors of his potential departure.
The hosts question the logic behind the Jets' promotional strategy, especially if Rodgers may not return to the team. They discuss the potential implications for fan trust and the marketing efficacy of using a possibly uncertain star player as the face of the franchise.
4. The Bug Murder Mystery
A standout segment of the episode revolves around an office incident where a large roach was found dead, leading to a humorous and conspiratorial investigation among the hosts to determine who was responsible.
Anthony: "Someone murdered a gigantic roach in the other room... Someone here did it." [20:03]
Michael: "I think it was Dinahan... I'm a fan of the guy." [24:05]
The conversation includes playful accusations, speculative theories, and light-hearted tension as the hosts attempt to solve the "murder." This segment showcases their chemistry and ability to engage in funny, yet intriguing, storytelling.
5. Caller C.J. on Chiefs and Super Bowl Predictions
C.J. from Brooklyn calls in to discuss the Kansas City Chiefs' performance and their chances in the upcoming Super Bowl, leading to a detailed analysis of the team's strengths and potential obstacles.
C.J.: "The Chiefs haven't been dominant this year like they have in previous years... Lamar and Allen have to prove against Mahomes." [26:55]
Don Hahn: "I believe the winner of Baltimore vs. Buffalo is winning the whole thing... Detroit's too banged up defensively." [28:49]
The hosts debate whether the Chiefs can maintain their legacy or if emerging teams like Buffalo and Baltimore will take the spotlight. Don Hahn confidently predicts the outcome of key matchups, offering his insights on team dynamics and coaching strategies.
6. Personal Anecdotes and Promotions
