Are all batteries the same?
Don Hahn
That's like asking if all soccer players are the same. Take Messi, the most decorated player ever. Is there any other player who has achieved that? No, just him. Now take Duracell. Is there any other battery with powerboost ingredients inside? No, just Duracell. Remember, goats only trust goats because they're built different. And Messi only trusts Duracell. This is the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast.
Jamie
That sounds like heaven to me.

De Lune, who covers the NBA for the Guardian. She's going to join us in a matter of moments to talk some basketball, because this off season has been absolutely bizarre, just nuts. You've got LeBron leaving the Lakers. You've got Jalen Brown getting traded to the Sixers, a division rival, a conference rival, a team they just lost to in the playoffs. You, of course, have Giannis going to Miami. So much to be determined in this league. And so, without further ado, we go to Claire De Lune, who covers the NBA for the Guardian, and he was kind enough to, for the first time, join us on ESPN New York. So we say hello to her. Claire, how's it going?
Claire De Lune
Good. How are you doing?
Ty
Very well. So Claire and I are actually gonna be working on some stuff this summer, so I thought it was a good idea to bring her on so we can just chop it up, talk some basketball. Gotta get your thoughts on. So here's my first question. Do you think that there's anything realistic that could happen this offseason that will take the Knicks from being the favorites in the Eastern Conference to, you know, underneath whoever the other team is?
Claire De Lune
No, I don't. I think the Knicks. I mean, I have a lot of respect, obviously, for, like, defending champions in general, but I think the Knicks are a tier above everybody else in the East. I mean, I think Philly just got a lot more interesting and formidable, for sure. If they also add LeBron, I mean, I would have to think about it, but otherwise, I'm as Miami currently stands. Like, I don't see LeBron if he goes to the Cavs, the Heat, the Sixers, which I think are the only three, like, east teams in the running, I don't see any of them, like, usurping the Knicks spot. I think at best, they join that tier, but the Knicks should still be the favorites to me, regardless.
Ty
All right, so we were actually streaming when the Jalen Brown news went down, which was both fun, but also, like, we didn't get a chance to, like, process everything that was happening. And so now that you've had a couple of days to dissect it all, what are your thoughts on Jaylen Brown going to the Sixers from both angles, from a Celtics perspective and a Sixers perspective?
Claire De Lune
I mean, I actually feel kind of similar to how I felt in the moment, Ty, which is like, I just think it's a confounding, colossal mistake by the Celtics. I think it felt reactive, it felt panicky and just sort of not in like, just incongruent with what has made that front office, you know, accrue so many accolades over the last few years. And the way they move and sort of how I guess they've been, they've. It feels like they've been pretty patient, they've been pretty methodical. And that move just felt like rash and nonsensical to me. So I think it was a massive mistake. To me. I think it was the biggest front office gaffe since the Luca trade. And I don't think it will age well.
Ty
And how about the people. You know what I can't, I can't understand, like all the people who are all of a sudden now, hey, if the analytics say he's actually the seventh best player on his own. And it's like, you know what analytic I really like wins and what they went 56 games last year and they were the 2 seed. You know what other analytic I really like? Finals MVPs. And that's what he was two years ago. And so look, I said this to you on the stream the other day. They had to trade him. It felt like this relationship had run its course. And for a decade now, he's been involved in trade rumors, whether it be Durant, Anthony Davis and now Giannis. He was looking to move on, so you had to trade him. But to do so to the Sixers and to get Paul George in two first round picks, like, just didn't make any sense to me. Especially when you're in the Jayson Tatum window, like, this is his prime and I get he's coming off of the Achilles. But like, you're trying to take advantage. You're an organization that prides itself on winning championships. You have one of the. Let's just be conservative and say conservative and say 10 best players in the league in the prime of his career and you're giving him Paul. And I got to hear about, well, Paul George could be an expending expiring contract into like, what are we talking about? Like, this just to me was insane. Like the, the trade itself and some of the commentary afterwards with Celtics fans, I guess, trying to cope with what just happened.
Claire De Lune
Right. I mean, the first thing I would respond to is the sort of analytics of it all, which I agree is infuriating as, as someone who covers league and also more so just as a basketball fan. But I would add, obviously, a lot of the metrics that they're using. There's nuance there that they're not taking into account. And one of the main ones to me is the sort of like plus minus that they like to lean on a lot. And I would say that, you know, you see this with, with a lot of stars that are playing for teams with deep benches. Like, the deeper your bench is and the better and deeper your team is, the less substantial of an upside you're going to see analytically when you're on the floor, because you know you're not going to have that huge downturn swing when you're off the floor, like teams that are more top heavy would have. And like, one of the things that the Celtics have done a really good job of is building out their bench and depth. So I would say, like, take that with a boulder of salt. And then, yeah, just as far as why you would make this move, I just feel like it's Paul getting Paul George, which is unanimously regarded as a negative value asset out of it negates one of the first round picks because you would have had to, Philly would have had to attach a first round pick to that Paul George contract just to move it. So you essentially netted one first for Jaylen Brown and that's just unacceptable. I just don't see a world where, regardless of how you feel about him, regardless of like the lowest of lows of his value, where that's an acceptable return. Moreover, that's a, you know, that's the front office not doing their due diligence because if you didn't know that that was his value around the league, if you didn't know that he's worth that little around the league, maybe, maybe that was the best you could get, that's even more reason why you shouldn't have included his name in trade rumors unless you were absolutely 100% certain that you could get Giannis back in that trade. Like, if you didn't know that Jalen was worth so little, then that's a dereliction of duty. You should have known that. You should have been informed about that before you risked alienating him. And so I Just think, from start to finish, this summer was handled so terribly by the Celtics front office.
Ty
Claire de Lune of the Guardian covers the NBA. All right, so if I'm a Knick fan, what would terrify me more? LeBron going to. To the Cavs or going to the Sixers?
Claire De Lune
I would say probably the Sixers, because I think they're already interesting. And I think if you add LeBron to that, that is. That's a puncher's chance, you know, at least. And so the Cavs supporting cast, I just. I'm. I'm just lower on, I think, in, like, a playoff setting than the Sixers supporting cast. And if you have LeBron James, who's, you know, even at 41, 42, one of the most reliable athletes that has ever touched a basketball court, I think that changes the calculus of what you can maybe expect from Joel Embiid as well in a postseason setting. So Jaylen Brown also has been, you know, incredibly healthy for the most part, throughout his career, so that would be scarier to me. One thing I have been thinking about today, as far as the, like, LeBron, Knicks of it all is the alternate timeline where the Knicks don't win the NBA Finals. Because I find that so fascinating on so many levels. Like, first of all, changes Wemby's legacy immediately, right? Like, if they had won that title, if he hadn't made so many, like, colossal mistakes throughout the course of that series, that changes the way we talk about Wemby. We heard today from rich Paul that LeBron definitely would have been a Knick if they had lost. And I believe that 100%. So LeBron ends his career as a New York Knick if they lose that series. And then finally, I think it's really impactful for Jalen Brown. Excuse me, Jalen Brunson's legacy as far as, like, not only what not winning that finals would do to his legacy, but then if he were to win a Finals either this year or next year, it would have been alongside LeBron James. And so I just find that sort of, like, sliding doors moment to be fascinating.
Ty
Yeah, because even If Jalen's the MVP of the Finals, it's still LeBron's team. And I felt that way about Luka because it's his championship. It then becomes, you know, the A block of every TV segment the next day is, where does this. Where does this take LeBron as far as, like, his chase for MJ? So it's more LeBron related than it is Nick related. It's amazing, though, because we talked about this and you shot it down and you're very well sourced in this regard. I said like LeBron to the Knicks would fascinate me, but him going there now that they've won a championship kind of you close the door on that because I just don't understand the value of it.
Claire De Lune
It's a, it's a no win for him if he goes to the Knicks this summer because if they lose, it's his fault. He ruined a good thing. He ruined a championship team and if they win, he was ring chasing. They were going to win anyway. They were coming off of a championship defense. So it's just like a lose lose proposition. Like I just don't see what he has to be gained from that. From a legacy perspective, obviously from a basketball perspective, it would be a beautiful fit and it would be really fun for him, I'm sure. But I, I just don't think he's going to go somewhere where the best case scenario is still bad for him.
Ty
So Mitchell Robinson goes to Boston and it kind of got swallowed up in the day because of the Jaylen Brown trade happens a few hours later.
Claire De Lune
We were talking about it when we
Ty
were talking about that. So what are your thoughts on the Knicks losing, Losing out on Mitchell Robinson to the Boston Celtics.
Claire De Lune
I mean I'm not as mad about them losing Mitch if it was from like a, like there are good reasons to lose Mitchell Robinson, like he was a liability in the sense of his free throw shooting became like the hack. A Mitch thing is real in the playoffs and it gives, you know, your opponent and out in a way he. We still don't know what happened with his hand in the middle of the playoffs and that seemed to be like a weird, contentious, kind of like smoke, you know, cloak and daggers kind of situation. So there were good reasons to move on. I just don't love the reasoning I've heard because everything that I've heard coming out of the Knicks is that it was to avoid the second apron. And as we talked about on our stream, Ty, like I just don't think, I think this team is exactly the opposite of a team that should be worried about going into the second apron. Like you're not worried about building for the future right now. You're not worried about making huge trades or swings. The main priority of winning a championship when your core is all in the sort of like 25 to 30 range is just keeping it together and running it back and trying to get another one. So I don't love the reasoning and But I'm okay with the result, if that makes sense. Process over result.
Ty
So do you think we're done with big splashes this offseason?
Claire De Lune
I don't know where LeBron is going yet.
Ty
Well, yeah, LeBron's got to make his decision, but as far as trades. Can I kick one? Can I kick one by you?
Claire De Lune
Yeah, please.
Ty
KD to the Pistons.
Claire De Lune
For who?
Ty
Well, the. The untouchables are obviously cade, and I would say Azer Thompson has to be.
Claire De Lune
Yeah, he's untouchable.
Ty
He's. He's an untouchable. But with Tobias Harris gone, he. He goes to San Antonio. We got to figure out the Jalen Duran thing. I don't know. I have to think about it, but they've got some young pieces and some trade assets that they should have used, by the way, last trade deadline to improve their team, to get a secondary scorer. Maybe Kevin Durant to Detroit shakes up the East a little bit more because I still. I still don't feel comfortable with him on that team that all of a sudden didn't like each other with the whole burnout.
Claire De Lune
Can I see. Can I see your Kevin Durant to Detroit and raise you a secondary move?
Ty
All right, let me hear it.
Claire De Lune
Kevin Durant to Detroit. James Harden sign and trade from Cleveland back to Houston. Fred Van Cleet goes to Cleveland in that situation, and then LeBron back to Cleveland.
Ty
LeBron now with the Cavs because he doesn't have to worry about the ball. I love this trade. Can we submit it to the league?
Claire De Lune
That's one I've been kicking around a lot. I didn't think about the. The Kevin where Kevin Durant would go, but obviously I think Kevin. To me, it's either, yeah, Kevin and James in Houston or Kevin. Kev moves on somewhere. But like a Houston reunion towards the end of James's career, I think makes a lot of sense. The James Harden of it all has been my main hang up on LeBron choosing Cleveland, because I just don't see if he didn't want to be the third fiddle to Luca and Austin, I don't really see why he'd want to be the third fiddle to Donovan and James, not to mention, obviously, the sort of, like, skeletons in James's playoff closet. So I feel like that makes a lot of sense on a lot of levels for James to end up back in Houston. They obviously desperately need both a point guard and, I think, better leadership. Yeah, Kev to Detroit and then Fred and LeBron to.
Ty
I like it. Kade and Katie running a rough Shot on the Eastern Conference. Last one.
Claire De Lune
I think that would be a beautiful fit.
Ty
Yeah, that'd be great. Last one I want to throw at you. The Lakers traded away deandre Ayton to the Wizards for Jaden Hardy, two second round picks. So your thoughts on this trade? Something or nothing?
Claire De Lune
I think it's something in the sense. I think it's the precursor to another move. I mean, the obvious thing that the Lakers were lacking after sort of all of the hullabaloo of free agency was a starting caliber wing. And also, you know, the fact that both Jonathan Kaminga and Rui Hachimura are currently, you know, not signed. Haven't found a seat in the. Whatever that game is called, where you. I'm blanking on the name of the musical chairs. Musical chairs. Thank you. So I think it's a precursor to. I think they're going to use those seconds to get off of either the Vanderbilt contract, the Dalton Connect contract, the Jake Laravia contract, or some combination to make space. Space to go get their wing. I. If they knew that deandre Ayton was not okay with being a backup, then I like it because you don't want that disharmony in the locker room. If he would have been okay being a backup, then I don't like it because I don't love the backup center options that are on the board right now. And they're in a position right now. I mean, right now they don't really have a backup center unless Mamu Kashvili is going to be their backup center instead of their four. But they're in a position right now where if Walker Kessler gets hurt, God forbid they are cooked, they are flambed, they have no other options. And you cannot rely on like an Andre Drummond to be playing meaningful minutes for long stretches of the regular season or God forbid, the playoffs. So I don't love it from that perspective, but I would guess reading the tea leaves, that they knew that AEN was going to be unhappy in a backup role and so they needed to get off of him in that respect. And I do like that they were able to get draft capital back because as you know, they have none right now.
Ty
Actually, this is my last question. What's your ceiling for Miami now that they have Giannis?
Claire De Lune
I mean, as it currently stands, I feel like they're like a five seed. Four or five seed maybe like especially losing Norm Powell. They desperately need more spacing and that's just a team with like basically no spacing at the moment. So I would assume there's more moves to come for them either, you know, this summer or at the deadline. But as of right now, that's just obviously going to be an incredible defense. That's just not a team that is good enough offensively to me to win, you know, two playoff rounds, let alone four.
Ty
Claire De Lune does a tremendous job hosting on her on her own and we're going to be doing some stuff. I'm excited. We got it, we got to get it kicking. We have some announcements coming up soon, so that'll be fun. And then she covers the league for the Guardian. Claire was awesome to have you on the show. Do you have any plans this just this weekend. Big plans for July 4th.
Claire De Lune
Gonna go to the beach with some friends tomorrow and then yeah. I mean unfortunately for NBA writers, fourth of July falls right smack dab in the middle of the free agency chaos. So it's not a full vacation time for us, but mini vacation maybe.
Ty
Well, I appreciate you joining the show, Claire. I'll definitely talk to you soon.
Claire De Lune
Sounds good. Thanks Ty.
Ty
800-919-3776 I I think if you are a Nick fan, like let me preface it by saying this with the high that you're on right now, it was going to be really tough for any team to do anything that was going to bust your bubble. Knick fans are like, yo, we're going back to back. You went 16 three. You're returning essentially the whole team, not including Mitchell Robinson. So it was going to be tough for anyone to convince a Knick fan they should be scared. But with Boston getting weaker, I do think the Sixers are better and a legitimate threat. I just have a hard time being convinced that the health of Joel Embiid doesn't matter. Like the Sixers with with Jalen Brown again contender. I disagree with people who say Embiid's health doesn't really matter. Like are they talented? Absolutely. But talented enough to where they don't need a guy they're paying $57 million next year. No, you'd have to be a juggernaut in order for his health to be a non variable in the Can Philly win the east conversation. I also think the Cavs, if they do sign LeBron, they become the second best team in the conference and I don't worry about him having to share the rock with Mitchell and Harden. We saw him excel in a similar role with Luka and Reaves before Luka got hurt. Like LeBron was excellent as that like Swiss army knife type of player. And so if he Goes to Cleveland. They're the second best team. All of this to say, I cannot foresee anything happening this offseason where the Knicks become second in command, where a team usurps them, and for us to be here. First of all, I'm still like in disbelief. We're discussing the Knicks as champions. Jacob, has it hit you yet that you are a New York Knick fan and you are fresh off of winning a championship? Has that hit you yet?
Jacob
I don't think it completely is going to hit me until I see that banner raised and I see like all the guys getting their rings. That's when it's really going to hit me. And it's really going to set in like, wow, my team. My team is a champion. My team is full of champions. Followed by Jalen Brunson, who might be probably the most popular New York sports athlete right now.
Ty
Oh, he's the king of New York. No question. With all due respect to Judge Brunson
Jacob
and with all due respect to your household.
Ty
Oh, yeah.
Jacob
I mean, we're gonna have Brunson jerseys all around the house.
Ty
I don't know if we're allowing that. Here's my rule. If you don't pay rent, you can't wear a Brunson jersey. Is that cool? You don't pay rent, you can't wear Brunson jeans.
Aaron
Tough but fair.
Jacob
I guess I can't argue with that rule. It's not my household.
Ty
800-919-3776. By the way, Jacob, we got the chat showing you some love. They said that the waves are spinning.
Jacob
Oh, I saw that.
Ty
I appreciate that you peeped that. I also saw someone say that I'm too handsome to be on radio. I don't know if that was a dude or if that was a chick. It hits different compliment. Either way I would take it. It's differently.
Jacob
I don't know. What if it's like an Alan Hahn telling you. You know what? That's a good looking guy right there.
Ty
Well, I mean, cool. I appreciate it. But if there's a chick telling you it's different. Right.
Aaron
This. This time slot is known to manalize.
Ty
Oh yeah.
Aaron
If you remember correctly.
Ty
I hear. And the predecessor love to do that.
Aaron
That's right.
Ty
Okay. Big manilizer. I did get this sent to me which I found to be quite funny. Mike Vrabel and his wife Jen spotted heading into MSG to attend the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey way.
Aaron
By the way, if I'm not on the 53 and I and I associate With Travis Kelce. I'm feeling away mat there with his wife.
Ty
Oh, Maddie. Matty Ice is there.
Aaron
Eric Stonestreet, who I believe is a big Kansas City Chiefs fan. Actor from Modern Family. He's there. Okay, Page Six has got a bunch of that. They got wherever hotel everybody's staying at. They figured they figured out where those people are staying.
Ty
Do we have a list?
Aaron
Because we don't got a list. We got. I got some. There's pictures all over page six. The algorithm once. Once we said Taylor Swift, the algorithm figured out it's time to take a look at some stuff.
Ty
I'm about done with the whole Diana Rossini, Mike Vrabel thing, but I would agree it is funny to see him. And I'm glad that they're doing well.
Aaron
Him and his wife Kyle use checking his wife. Niner Benson Boone. Aaron Andrews. A Barry White tribute band, apparently.
Ty
Okay, shout out. Aaron Andrews.
Aaron
Yeah, why not? She's awesome.
Ty
No Knicks. You haven't mentioned any Nick players.
Aaron
I really haven't.
Jacob
Kareem Hunt, Richard Sherman.
Aaron
Okay, we're getting pieces.
Ty
I need to hear some Nick play. I need to hear Brunson Big body. Brunson big body. Mikel. You think I could have gotten into this wedding as Mikel Bridges?
Aaron
You could. You could. Well, you still got time getting to the city. What are you up to? Anything to do for the next hour.
Ty
I need to hear my man Cat and Jordan woods are able to pull up to the wedding.
Aaron
I think she'd. I think they'd want to know if you ain't got nothing going on.
Ty
Of course they would. July 4th weekend, you want to pull up? Everyone wants to be at Till. If you got an invite to this wedding, I'm sure you guys would be in attendance. Right? Like y' all aren't too good for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
Jacob
Oh, as soon as the show is over, I'm going right to the wedding, y'.
Jamie
All.
Ty
With the waves spinning.
Don Hahn

All right, so we were just talking about the Taylor Swift Travis Kelce. What's the proper way to like order the names? I think it depends.
Aaron
Well, Taylor Swift is more famous.
Ty
Yes, she's famous.
Aaron
But I guess it's what your interest is, right? If you're a football fan, it's probably the Travis Kelsey Taylor Swift wedding. If you're a fan of Taylor Swift's music, it's probably the Taylor Swift Travis Kelsey wedding. And I'm guessing if you're neutral, it's Taylor Swift first, as you said, because
Jacob
she's more famous or just no interest in either. It's the yo yo wedding could do
Ty
that too, but then yo, but the people popping out. So y' all gave me some more names during the break. I said, Hugh Grant.
Aaron
Hugh Grant's walking in.
Jacob
It was Bella Hadid or Gigi Camila Cabello.
Aaron
I saw there too, which makes sense. They're friends. Kelsey Ballerini, country singer.
Ty
All right, so here's the problem I'm running into. I'm watching videos of folks pulling up to the wedding and I understand it's gonna be like air conditioned. Man, being in a whole suit in 100 degree weather is crazy.
Aaron
78 degree air conditioning. I heard no 78.
Ty
So I. So I ran into a similar. I don't want to call it issue, but a decision that had to be Made when I was in Jamaica for the wedding. I was the only person at this wedding in shorts. Now, it was like a linen suit. Ish type thing where it was nice. I had. It was all pink collared shirt, linen, and then shorts, so I wasn't out here looking crazy. But everyone else had long pants and suits on. And for a moment, I felt out of place. You feel, like, underdressed. But then I turn to my wife, you know, because you know your lady will give you either confirmation. Oh, yeah, babe. Like, you did that wrong. And she was like, nah, you're. You're. Do you look great. First of all, you're properly dressed, and everyone in here wishes they can be you. Because standing on a beach when it's like 95 degrees in a whole suit is not the vibe I would not.
Jacob
Nope. Not at all.
Ty
Just like I did it correctly.
Aaron
I think you did. Anybody complain? Was there like a. You broke dress code? No. No dinner for you. Like, you only get to eat the spicy beef patties. Like, I don't.
Ty
Someone walks up to me is like, sir, you got to go change.
Jacob
Like, usually my only regret, when it's hot and wearing, like, long panties, I should have kept on my shorts. So you did the right thing with. All right, I know it's gonna be hot. I know I'm gonna be in Jamaica. I know I'm gonna be in a beach. Let me wear some linen shorts that are appropriate for the wedding. And, you know, not. No, not try to look, like, totally tacky with it also.
Ty
Yes. Because I had experience doing this. You remember, Jake? I was at a destination wedding in Mexico. What was this? I think it was last year. And I had long pants on. Sweating through my. Sweating through the inside.
Aaron
You were battle.
Ty
Yeah, battle tested. Some would say I had some pelts on the wall.
Aaron
Now, granted, some. Some people don't go to as many destination weddings as you, so they probably. They were the people that said, I'm gonna try with a pants thing, the pantsuit thing. See how that works out. Didn't work.
Ty
Too many people getting married, man.
Claire De Lune
It's.
Ty
It's expensive out here. It's expensive.
Aaron
That's a good question.
Ty
What's that?
Aaron
What is the gift?
Ty
What do you destination. No, no, no, no, no.
Aaron
I'm not talking about your way. All due respect, I'm sure it was
Ty
luxurious and beautiful for Taylor and Track.
Aaron
What do you get? Like, what do you even.
Ty
There's nothing you can give them. Yeah, but this is. This reminds me of, like, Robert. Remember Robert Kraft? Had that big Birthday party a couple years ago. It's like, what do you. What do you gift him? Imagine showing up with the card. It's like, here's 200 in the card. What do you gift. What do you gift these guys?
Jacob
Like, it cannot be an actual. It would have to be, like, an experience of some sort of kind. Like.
Ty
But what's the experience? What. What haven't they experienced yet? Tickets to the beach bash next year.
Jacob
Man listening. Lake Cuomo. Bar A. Here we go.
Ty
Bar A.
Jamie
Look.
Ty
Lake Como now.
Aaron
You know what? I'll tell you what you do. No, I'll tell you. You know what you got to do at that point. Like, if you're really close, like, if it's Travis Kelsey, like, in his teammates or whatever, it's just gag gifts. Like, you're giving Crate and Barrel gift cards. Like, you're just. You're doing stuff that, you know they don't want or need. That's what you do. Unless you're giving, like, I don't know, a check for. That's like five amount. I don't even.
Ty
Come on. What does that matter to them?
Aaron
You know, the COVID your plate thing? That's a thing, right?
Ty
How much is a plate?
Don Hahn
I don't know.
Jamie
I.
Aaron
Listen, I'm telling you. Not that anybody that's going to this wedding can't cover the plate, but I
Ty
want to know how much is your place. Is a rod going to this wedding?
Aaron
Probably.
Jacob
I wouldn't be surprised.
Ty
We got to see a rod pop out. Jeter's got to be there because this is the type of wedding.
Aaron
Is King Wally announcing it? Do we have the PA Announcer? Is Madge there for the sound? I need to know if Madge is at this wedding.
Ty
Mike Breen better be at this damn wedding. That's all I'm saying. Once you're having it at the world's most famous arena, you need every famous person imaginable. Is Jay Z at this wedding? Jay Z and Beyonce?
Aaron
That's a good question. You think Kanye's there? I'm kidding. I'm kidding.
Ty
I was gonna say that I heard Kanye had a show in California that got canceled a couple weeks ago.
Aaron
Really?
Ty
Your last thing you need Kanye to do is get up there and start saying some.
Aaron
Well, you know that. Well, you know, they got, though. That's. They got beef.
Ty
Obviously, you know that He's. That. That. Oh, yeah.
Aaron
That's why I don't know if she's got either of them do. But I can't imagine they're friends.
Jacob
I will Say she probably is still salty over it. Just knowing how Taylor is. She's gonna hold.
Aaron
Knowing how Taylor. Hear that? You know what, Ty? Listen, it sounds like Jacob's going to the wedding.
Jacob
I told you, I'm going right after the show.
Ty
Knowing how she. Because he knows her personally.
Aaron
He got the plus one.
Ty
He knows.
Jacob
That's why Bella Swifty, if there was one.
Ty
So I' ma just say this. Me and Pusick, because you're going to be at the wedding. We got to be on the. I was going to say we got to be on the closed stories, but you got to sign an NDA.
Aaron
Yeah, it's going to be a whole thing. Did Aaron Andrews walk in alone? Jacob, was there a picture of Aaron Andrews?
Jacob
I don't know. Let me go see if I'm a plus one. I'll. I'll go check right now.
Aaron
No, because. Because I'm saying. Jared Stoll, former LA King. I'm assuming that he's accompanying. I would assume that he's a part of this, but it would be very funny that page 6 doesn't know who he is. That would just be peak.
Ty
Wait, so did Garrett Cole get invited to the wedding, but he can't attend because he's starting tonight?
Aaron
Hmm.
Ty
Aaron Judge, he should be there.
Aaron
Could you imagine if that. You know what? He might. He could do it, right?
Ty
Wait, so is that allowable? Like, how do you present that to Boone? Like, hey, man, I think if you're
Aaron
injured because, like, he's with the team and he's been with.
Ty
No, let's just say he wasn't hurt.
Aaron
Oh, no, you can't.
Jacob
No.
Ty
The Yankees are in a seven game losing streak.
Aaron
I would. I would take off. I didn't take off this day. It's a holiday. I'd take off Monday because I can't handle the phone. I wouldn't be able to handle the phone.
Ty
Oh, my Lord.
Aaron
Ray Dinahan could take phone calls from 1 to 7. I think that is proper.
Ty
The problem with Aaron Judge in the playoffs is he goes to Taylor Swift. If he got into the back, yo. But no real talk. How do you handle that? Maybe it's not a big deal, but if Aaron Judge were healthy and had been invited to this wedding, as the Yankees are trying to end a seven game losing streak, does he pop into Boone's office and he's like, hey, man,
Aaron
he knows better. He knows better than that, though. If you're gonna be calling out the team saying they lack focus while you're on the il. Not your fault. Of course you ain't going into Aaron Boone's office going, hey, Aaron, I'm gonna head over to MSG for the T. Swizzle wedding. I'll catch you when the next. I'll catch you on Saturday. I'll be. I'll be here for the anthem on the 4th of July as that.
Ty
Actually, I might be a little hungover on Saturday, so. Yo, y' all catch me on Sunday. It's the two day break, man. 800-919-3776. Jamie's calling from Yonkers. He wants to talk about hot weddings. What's up, Jamie?
Jamie
You know, it's funny because I think the last time I spoke to you on air was about you were going to a wedding down in Georgia, debating the gift. It devolved into top shelf versus non top shelf liquor. Turns out it was a dry wedding, et cetera, et cetera.
Ty
Great memory.
Jamie
Let me tell you. I. I took some heat from my. My girlfriend's family. It was the Florida Keys wedding, daytime, and the fact that I was not in a suit caused World War three. I was wearing a. A madras print custom made sport coat. Okay. And a pair of linen pants and a white shirt.
Ty
And I took heat, literally and figuratively,
Jamie
to make a situation inside. Wait, so I feel for you, but,
Ty
Jamie, what was the criticism is that
Jamie
I should be wearing a suit and tie, like a. A brown suit or a black suit in a daytime Florida Keys wedding.
Ty
No way. Wait, was this the. Like the. The. The wedding? The. The groom, the bride? Like, who was this?
Jamie
No, no, we were just guests. We're just cats. We're just guests.
Ty
But I'm saying, who was. Who was. Who was the one doing up?
Jamie
My girlfriend's cousin was getting married.
Ty
Oh, come on. Who cares about her? It's your girlfriend's cousin. Not that important.
Jamie
Tell you something. Well, if they are still marrying, we're saying. What struck me is what you said was what your wife said to you. Everybody wishes they were you. That is exactly the same vibe I got.
Ty
Mm. Exactly.
Jamie
Everybody, let me just be jealous. Let him just be jealous.
Ty
I love it. I think you did the right thing. Honestly, Jamie, you did.
Jamie
Oh, I know I did the right thing because I was comfortable, but I'm
Ty
glad to hear they were still married. I appreciate the call, because you know where I was going, Jacob. Like, if they had gotten divorced after that, I was gonna say it was karma.
Jacob
It was meant to happen.
Ty
It was meant to happen. Yo, there's someone I know. And you guys actually know this person, too? I won't say the name.
Aaron
Interesting.
Ty
The person on the air, he's. Man, he.
Aaron
All right, narrowing it down.
Jacob
Okay, I got it.
Ty
Well, I have to describe it in this way. Him and his wife attend weddings and they play a game. The game is predicting whether that couple will stay married, which is grimy.
Aaron
Oh, I can. You know what, you know what's actually sad about that?
Jacob
I could probably.
Aaron
And I'm assuming when you say we know this person, I'm assuming they're. They're either friends of the station or at the station. I can probably name seven people I think that play that game. So that's kind of like.
Ty
I'll tell you all fair who it is.
Aaron
It shows you where we're at.
Ty
Alright.
Aaron
I have my idea in my head.
Ty
Isn't that nutty? It's something knowing. And I'm glad that I found this out after I got married. Because if you wouldn't have liked it. No, because if the thought crept in my head that as I'm delivering these beautiful vows, there's. There's one or two people in the crowd now predicting whether or not we're gonna stay married. That would be off putting.
Aaron
Somebody's got an office pool going of like, oh my. I hit the over. It was September 2026. That last fight could be the last one. I'm almost there.
Ty
When this person told me this, I bust out laughing. But I was like, yo, that's nuts. Absolutely nuts, buster.

Gary Myers reported yesterday that according to a very reliable source, General manager Joe Shane's recently signed new contract is a four year deal through the 29th season. He had had one year left on his old deal. Harbaugh's got a five year contract. Giants ownership made it clear that Shane was remaining as gm. I'm getting emotional talking about Joe Shane during the interview process for the new coach, but the length of the contract confirmed that Harbaugh is very comfortable working with him as he publicly stated. Now listen, good for Shane, right? He was able to parlay being a disaster for the last four years into a four year extension. The Giants under his watch have gone 22, 45 and 1 and that was good enough for an extension. So good. Good for him. This to me is shocking because when we all learned that Harbaugh was gonna get this job, we assumed Joe Shane was being let go. It was clipped for him and then once it didn't happen immediately we were just like all right, so maybe they are just going to keep him through the draft and free agency process because you don't want to like upend things that late into what you're doing and then maybe he gets fired after the draft. That did not happen. I then thought okay, it's on the table that, let's just say the season goes sideways for the Giants. Vegas has them at seven and a half wins. If they win three or four games this year, he gets to be the scapegoat. So you can can him then. Nope, none of that happened. He gets an extension. And because it's John Harbaugh and the respect that we have for him as a Hall of Fame head coach, instant credibility. We almost just kind of like matter of factly say, hey, if that's a decision he made, cool. We trust him, we believe in him. I'm not going to call this a mistake because we have to see how it plays out. And they have the quarterback and the roster looks like getting better. What I will say is this, if. Let's just say two years into this thing, the Giants haven't made much progress. Is Joe Shane on the hot seat? So look, I get it. Four year extension, cool. Let's say they underachieve. This year they win five games. The next year they win six games. You think he's seeing out this contract? I don't believe so. Now I also think that given the structure that is in place, he did receive a demotion because by, by title, he's the general manager. But John Harbaugh is going to be making all of the decisions. Shane will handle the, you know, the phone calls, do the GM work. But every decision has to be run by John. Every decision has to be run by him. I'm very fascinated because some folks are like super confident that this turnaround is going to happen, which is not going to take much, right, to see significant progress. When Dave does the whole they're winning a Super bowl in the next five years, I'm just like, man, they spent the last decade being one of the three worst teams in football and now all of a sudden they're going to win a Super Bowl. I don't know, maybe Jackson Dart's the guy. Maybe Joe Shane with the, you know, is all of a sudden able to become a really good gm. We know what John Harbaugh can do, though. He did get fired for a reason. The Giants will be better, obviously. How much better? Winning a Super bowl better. I just don't see it. And people are ready with the retort of, hey, look at the Patriots. They were the worst team and then they got to the Super Bowl. Guys didn't win it. We're talking about them winning a Super Bowl. The Patriots were bad. Yes. We saw them go worse to first. Didn't get to the Super Bowl. Get their teeth kicked in. What I'm saying is to go from being one of the three worst teams in the sport to in the next five years, winning it all and basing that on what we've got, the hall of Fame coach. Great. And a quarterback we think might be the guy we think. I'm just not there yet. I'm just not there yet. 800-919-3776 we do have ENN coming up with Anthony Pusick before we get there. I didn't really talk about this. And I realized that today I was preparing for the show. It was about a week ago, but the people who lost their minds about jazz chisholm eating a lollipop during a game. Y' all should be ashamed of yourselves. Absolutely ashamed of yourselves. And what was revealing to me was that most of the critics chose this as their basis of the criticism. Well, you know, it's a safety issue. As if you all of a sudden cared about the health and safety of jazz. Who most of y' all would have been thrilled to see him choke on the damn stick because you detest him that much. I wanted to put punt him to the moon. And now all of a sudden you care about his health and safety. Miss me with that. So it does seem that if we are going to play that game, it's semi dangerous to do this during a baseball game. A live interview, which he did on opening night on Netflix and no one got mad except for the fact that he thought his expectations you were throwing out there. 50, 50 being too lofty, chewing bubble gum. Semi dangerous. What happens if you blow a bubble so big it pops and it restricts your view? I mean, come on, guys, sunflower seeds get stuck in the back of your throat. No one really cared about the safety of jazz as it pertains to this lollipop. They've just been mad at him for a couple years now. And this was ammunition to go at him in a year where most has gone wrong, as has been the case, by the way, for many of the dudes in that lineup. And I hear, oh, he's not a winning player. Gee, I don't know. I thought I saw him the other day by himself create the game tying run against the Tigers, beat a ball out on an infield single, stole second, stole third, came home for the game tying run. Feels like a winning player to me. I don't think he's perfect. And I wouldn't just give him a blank check this summer. But acting like he is some scrub who can't help this team win. It's just insane to me. He can be bothersome at times. Absolutely. He can annoy you. But I think that the Heat and the vitriol for Jazz is so over the top. So over the top for a player who's really talented and one of the most talented in this group.

The Knicks are still the team to beat in the East, Boston’s front office fumbled spectacularly, Philly’s ceiling depends on LeBron, and legacies in the NBA swing on a razor’s edge with every big move—plus: never wear wool to a beach wedding.
