Sure, why not? The percentage of country concerts that we promote on this station versus other concerts is the dumbest thing ever. I'm sorry. By the way, I love Eric Church. Like, I'm actually a fan. I think Eric Church. I can name multiple Eric Church songs. Yeah, that's right. You'd be surprised all you want. I'll sing Springsteen right now. Word for word. I was gonna say get rid of the cowboy hat. That's right. But like, I understand. I don't know how all these things work, Don. And I'm. And I enjoy country. But in terms of the percentage of like who listens to our show, it just feels like considering this is a market that generally doesn't have a. For 30 years didn't have a country radio station. Sometimes feels like we're overdoing it a bit. Well, I guess there's some, there's some reason for it. Yeah, I think that the tickets that we get offered. But I mean, you know Kendrick lamar is at MetLife next week, for God's sake. With SZA. New Jersey's own. For God's sake, Solana, you know what I mean? Stevie Wonder in October. We love Stevie. Stevie. Msg, you said? Yeah. Yeah. Well, let's just mix it. Let's just mix it up. That's all I'm saying. I like. I like country as much as the next guy. I'm considering cowboy boots, for God's sake. All right, let's go to the phones. 1-800-919-3776. No better way to get us started than some Knicks positivity in New Jersey with Brian. What's up? Hey, guys, I'm calling about this fan base. All negative right now. You think the sky is falling? Have some gratitude and positivity about this team, man. There's basketball. New York's playing meaningful games on tv. We got two games to go on in advance in the playoffs. Can't say that a ton about the Knicks games of recent years. Here's how tonight's going to go. Miles McBride, he's going to earn his nickname back. We're going to be calling out Deuce, Deuce, Deuce. OG And Bridges are going to hit their corner threes. Cat and Brunson are going to have 30 apiece. Mitch is going to go crazy on the boards. Hart's going to look at the basket. This fan base needs to embrace the power of positivity. Let's go, Knicks. You know what? You got to show love to that. We got to show love. Thank you, Brian. That's. That's. It's not easy to feel that way. I totally understand being completely fed up, but. Nah, that. That. That. It sounded like he didn't want to wake up his mom. He was, like, holding it in. Sorry. And by the way, Sports Center's on in front of me, Don, and they're showing, like, a package. Oh, the Rockets were absolutely going after Curry's thumb. Well, Draymond was asked about it. He's like, oh, yeah, I noticed. But he wouldn't completely condemn it because he knows, oh, do the same thing. Draymond would do it, and he'd make sure he's holding rocks in his hand, you know, like, is there another way to do it worse? Let's go to Gabriel in Farmingdale talking. Nicks. What's up, Gabriel? Hey, Peter. Hey, Don. Big fans in the show. Love, love the new show. First time calling in nice. Actually, the last time I called the Michael K Show is when they hired Peter Laviolette. And then I just saw the Rangers hired Mike Sullivan. So just a funny little cool. Nothing official. Nothing official, but it does look like that May. Oh, it's nothing official, but those are the reports. So I think it's safe. I think it's pretty safe, but nothing official. Well, go ahead. Oh, well, I'll stay excited. No, the reason I wanted to call today, the last call. I just got it. I was just going to call about the game plan. Bridges needs to hit his shots tonight. Cat needs to hit his shots tonight. And I think they're going to. I think McBride really earned his stripes like the last caller was saying. And I just. I guarantee a victory. And I think fibs going to prove all these doubters wrong, all these guys hating on him. That's all I wanted to say. So let's go next. I don't think a win tonight does that. I think if you want to shut up the Tibbs haters, Peter, that would probably take a conference final appearance. Well, yes, but I'll tell you this. The difference between winning this series or not is just gigantic. Like, no matter what Allen Thibodeau Hannah tells us, if they lose to Detroit, particularly with a couple of the things that have happened, this will be a problem for Tibbs. Oh, I don't think there's any question now, Alan could be right that they won't do it, but I think you can honestly have a conversation. If he's not the right guy, how could you not? And Alan always says there's no appetite for it. Here's the thing about appetite. There's no appetite when you're not hungry. There is no appetite. But guess what? If you lose, you're going to be hungry. You're going to be very hungry. You know what? I'm feeling a hankering for some second round of the playoffs, and I didn't get it. Well, the amazing thing to me is if you go back to when Rick and Dave brought it up, like a month ago, it did seem inconceivable. That ship is now sailed. It's completely conceivable. May not happen. But I'm sorry, it is a conversation. There's no way around it. Race the rudders. Raise the sails. Race the sails. Captain, an unidentified ship is approaching. Over. Roger, wait. Hi, guys. Don, I'll ask you first. Which NHL series has surprised you the most? I'm a little surprised that Winnipeg's having trouble with St. Louis. 3, 2. The home team's won every game. Scheifele is not going to play in game six. So that's a little scary. And I'm a little surprised if Florida finished off Tampa as quickly as they did. Peter, which NBA series has surprised you the most? Has surprised me the most? I. I guess I'd say Minnesota, Louisiana. But yeah, I would agree with you. None shocked me, but I'd say Minnesota. But the shocking thing is that it was in five, Right? Yeah. And I thought they'd. I really did think the Lakers would probably Win that series. So, fellas, did you hear Kevin Love's dad passed Stan Love. Now, he was an NBA player. He came into the league in 71. He might have been on the Bullet championship team. In 78. Yeah, in 77. 70, he might have been on that championship team. He was a good player, third forward. But can you imagine parents producing a Beach Boy? You know, Stan Love's brother was Mike Love from the Beach Boys. So the parents produced a Beach Boy and an NBA player. A very good NBA player. That's kind of cool. That is pretty. Pretty crazy. But, Pete, respectfully, I got to correct you. Yesterday. You said that Elway was 61. Elway is 64. He got out of Stanford in 83. Now, do you know what he was doing in the summer of 82? Playing baseball. Playing baseball. Yeah, that's right. Very good. He was playing for the Yankees and Oneonta. Yep. He was in the outfield. Now, you guys brought up the Jackie Slater, Mark Astino game. That was in 83. But you know what's ironic, Pete? Don, what was ironic, and your father would love this, on the LA Ram team was Gary Jeter, who the Giants had traded that summer. He was a great pass rusher. As a matter of fact, two weeks prior was opening day. That was the first time the NFL played on Labor Day weekend. And it was Parcel's first game in Los Angeles. Gary Jeter, I think, had five or six sacks himself just by himself on Scott Bruner. Scott Bruner in la. That was unbelievable. He was a really good player, and it obviously missed out on all the history that the Giants would end up making, but he was a heck of a player. All right, fellas, last thing. Now, you brought up that, or really it was Alan brought up villains who came to New York. And I was thinking about the four sports. This is what I came up with in football. The first villain that came to New York, although we didn't trade a player for him, we gave up draft choices. And that team became great because of those draft choices. First villain that ever came to a New York football team that I remember first would be Fran Tarkington. He used to kill us when he was in our Minnesota, and he came here and he played good for us. The first basketball vil. Alan would love this. Earl Monroe. And he came in the prime of his career. We had traded two homegrown guys, Dave Stalwart and Mike Riordan. The first hockey. Hockey villain. Now, I was very young for this, but I knew something didn't feel right. We Traded for Jacques Plant. We traded Gump Worsley, who came up to us. And lastly, in baseball, last one, the Mets. First baseball, Tommy Davis. We got him from Ron Hunt, who was a homegrown. Yeah, that was going. But obviously the biggest one, Clemens, you know, Red Sox, going to the. The Yankees. But, yeah, those are. That was a good list. Nothing wrong with that. Little, long, little fatty. Had to trim the fat there, but it was fine. Well, I know who's going to bring it. I know who's going to bring it. And nail it in and out with a incredible professional take, and it's our good friend Tessa and Wes Caldwell. Hey, Tessa, I am so sorry to disappoint you. I'm not gonna be professional, okay? Right now, I'm salty, bitter, deflated. I. I can't. I can't be professional. I can't be anything. You know what I'm saying? Like, I'm crashing out, okay? Today, even for work, I wore bummy, like, big freaking scrubs to work. Everybody's like, what's wrong with y'all? Argue with, like, four freaking colleagues. Like, it just was terrible, too. Because, guys, I'm serious. I just have a couple of questions, and maybe you can ask that, okay? Because I'm gonna. I'm gonna, like, smash my head against the wall. That's what I'm gonna do. I'm not gonna be ready for great, you know, draft class, okay? So my thing is this JJ you showed during the regular season with my Lakers. You showed them. Oh, wow. You know, he does belong as a coach. But, sir, excuse me, you needed help in the playoffs, get some help. I don't know. Call somebody you won't get fined for. I don't know. Call a coach. Get some help. It's some of the calls he was making. I'm like, is this guy okay? I was crashing out, but still being positive, okay? J.J. needed some guidance, okay? Now with Luca. Listen, I'm just picking on everybody. I don't really care. Even LeBron. I felt like, Luca, are you 40? You know, he couldn't even get into a squat position and slide his feet left and right. It's like, all you got to do is cross. And he was done. You know? I mean, I'm like, luka, why you. You need a full season to train with LeBron? I. I don't. And it's just like, I don't understand. I can't believe we're out of the playoff. I cannot believe this. Yeah, I'm done. I'm crashed out. I'm Crashed out. All right. Hopefully you feel better letting it. Yeah, you got to get it out sometimes. But guess what? The truth is, Don, they. They. They tease their. The Lakers teased their fans. They had a period there where they were really, really good. Did anyone really believe that they were a championship team? I guess once they got Luca, they're probably LA fans who started to convince themselves of it. But you didn't really. And by the way, if your third player. If your third best player is. Is the white guy with the headband, are you really a championship team? That's my question. You know what I mean? But in fairness, you even said a couple of times the Lakers gonna win that. The Laker. That was in the conversation. I'm sorry. It was. Now it's easy after the fact saying, oh, why would it ever be? It was. There were times during the course of this year, like, oh, Lakers might come out of the West. This could happen. No. Am I wrong? My misrepresentment? No, no. There are moments when we thought it was possible. You know, I don't know if they were ever. If I ever thought they were the favorite, but they certainly got into the conversation. But then they kept, like, teasing it. You're like, are they good? Is this team. Well, you know, I had a question I wanted to ask you. Go ahead. Is because of his advanced age, is it wrong to use this against him in the Jordan debate? Here's the only thing I'll say about that, because I thought about it last night, and we'll take a break and answer your calls. I'll just. I'll just say he doesn't strike fear anymore. Like, I watch him in these moments, and you're not going, oh, God, what's he gonna do? And to me, even though he's older, you're still gonna be left with a lot of memories of these years. Like, yeah, he was really good, but you're not. Like, last night. You're not thinking of, like, Kobe, playoff appearances where you're, like, terrified of him. He's not that. He's like, a really, really good player. And that's kind of it. Which is incredibly impressive at 41, Don. But does it also end up, in the long run, sort of hurting the memories of what you were? Yeah, but I just think it would be unfair to use this as an example of him better because, like, let's say a great player joined the Wizards when Jordan was at the end. You know, would he have won a title? Would he have gotten out of the first round? I don't know, it's a fair point, and he's certainly way better than Jordan was on the Wizards, and Jordan wasn't terrible on the Wizards, but this is LeBron's at a different level at this point. There's Eric Church like you dream about. 1-800-919-3776 It's Peter and Don taking you for about another four and a half minutes. And then we get to Knicks basketball. So let's try to get through these quick. All right, let's knock them out. Jonathan in la, our guy. What up? Hi guys. Hi guys. The, the rare times that, I mean, I'm ESPN New York all the way, but the amount of time the, the rare times that I listen to ESPN la, Don, the amount of fraudulence that goes on there, people just switch teams like it's nothing. And sometimes I ask myself, oh my God, what about it? Like, Don would hear this guy swapping teams. But hey, speaking of fraudulence Done. So, my Lakers. Good thing you guys didn't answer me last Friday, because I was so sure that Lakers were gonna win in six, but I was gonna sound like a fool. My Lakers are gone. Now I'm a cheer for the Knicks, but, I mean, not a fan of the Knicks, but I really hope they win. They get past the Pistons, and I'm really gonna wish them the best. Versus the Celtics, the hated Celtics. Does that make me a fraud? Because, you know, in my heart I'm a Laker, but I'm a root for the Knicks. Also, one more thing, Peter. I. I heard you last time regarding Bill Belichick and the young girlfriend. Talk about. Hold my beer. Had. Have you seen Paul Heyman? 22 year old. Not real. Not real. It's not real. No, he met. He met. He manages that woman. And for some reason, everyone decided that they were together. Oh, well, you know what? That's great. You know what card is to learn? You bring in facts, man. Hey, Don, am I. Great week as always. Thank you, buddy. I'm glad we were able to do this, considering I'm gonna be off tomorrow. That's right. No, I don't think it's a fraud. I mean, the Laker Nick thing, that's going back to like the 70s. He's obviously not old enough to remember that. I don't think there's anything wrong with picking up another team when your team is gone. And not the same conference, not even on the same coast. No. Fraud. Look at you. I love what you've done there. All right. I'm learning every day. Okay, let's go to Dennis in North Carolina. Hey, Dennis. Hey, guys. Before I got to my next point yet, I think the whole why they don't do, like, rap concert tickets. I bet. I love all genres. And I even went to Summer Jam 09, and I think that's the first time I heard your name. Peter, did you add some kind of beef with Young Money? No, that was. That was Summer Jam 2012. But. But whatever. Oh, okay. Well, who's counting? But yeah, anyway, but like I've been saying, like reggae, rock, edm, but the hip hop concerts, it's a hit or miss. Like, you don't know. You can't understand what they're saying sometimes. And sometimes they seem drunk. But there's no instrumentals as well. Everything you're saying, Dennis, is true of literally every music genre. Right? But I mean, I don't know, it just seems like whenever I go to a hip hop or rap concert, there's like a 70% chance that it's not going to be that great. That's why they give out. I don't know. By the way, Dennis, that is definitely not the reason that we're not getting the tickets, okay? Cuz that would imply that the people making the decisions have been to hip hop concerts to know that. So that's not it at all. And it's a dated take. Like, that used to be the take on hip hop concerts back in the day. And listen, I'll tell you first thing, like, I don't think it takes a very special hip hop show for it to be better than, you know, the Beyonce concert. I'm going to, for example, because of just the dancing and all that theatrics. But that take of their, like I can understand or blah, blah, that's like a very dated. We don't give away Guns n Roses tickets back in the day because there was a chance that Axl may not show up, right? I mean, you name him being like. And sometimes the artists are drunk and you can't understand them. It's like, yeah, dude, that's every concert in the world. I mean, not every, but there's. Every genre has artists like it's availability. And there's probably a little bit more promotion for that because it's a country show in New York. As you. You said it's not the biggest genre in New York where they might need a little bit more help promotion wise than a hip hop show in New York. I think it's probably more like they just see sports and they go, we should give the sports station blank tickets. We should give this station those tickets. And it probably requires people pushing back and being like, hey, you know what? We have a very diverse audience. We'd also like these tickets. But those conversations haven't necessarily happened yet, but we're going to work on that. Don, we're 10 seconds away from getting Knicks coverage. Have a wonderful weekend. Me and Alan will hold down Fraud Friday tomorrow. And you're a great guy. Enjoy the Knick game. Go Knicks by 10. Thanks for listening to the Don Hahn and Rosenberg podcast. I don't want to know how the sausage is made, man. I just want to know. It's good. Hear more of Don Allen and Peter weekday afternoon starting at 3 on 8 80, ESPN, the ESPN New York app, and your smart speakers.
