That sounds like heaven to me. Listen live weekday afternoon starting at 3 on 8 80, ESPN, the ESPN New York app and your smart speakers. Oh yeah, like you dream about Don Hahn and Rosenberg. Oh, that enn felt great at 6:00. It makes the rest of the show feel better, honestly, when you do ENN 6 to 6:30. And it also sets us up right now radio where it ought to be. It's the nightcap. You gotta look at it like it's like a nice little nightcap, right? You're pouring a little, little whiskey on the rocks just to sit. Not ready for bed yet, but ready to settle in, right? That's a great way. That's exactly what it is. Now, it also sets us up perfectly because we have not done a whole lot of Knicks today. And the Knicks spoke. Actually. Do we have audio of. Here's Jalen Brunson. So you guys were talking about fan reactions and stuff like that and how fans feel like this season has just been Nothing but torture. 51 win torture. All right, I see. Here we go. How about Jalen Brunson? How did he feel about this past regular season? Haven't reflected too much, but it's been an interesting year. I think for us, it's like any other season. It's a roller coaster every year. It's gonna be ups, it's gonna be downs. It's all about how we manage it. But now that the regular season's over, it's all about how can we just move on and get better the next day. I know it's a term that people don't like to hear, but we learn from what we did in the past, good and bad, and we move on and we get better. That's the name of the game at this stage of the season. Tibbs spoke as well. Will you use Cat and Mitch together in the playoffs? It's a small sample size, but, you know, we've had some good minutes with them, particularly down the stretch here. I think as Mitch is, you know, starting to get More rhythm. I think it's been good. A lot of it depends on who they have on the floor. Yeah. But I like it a lot. Be interesting to see how he employs it against Detroit. When you consider that they don't have a big front line. Right. Duran's a big strong guy, but not necessarily. He's more about rebounding and stuff. And then Isaiah Stewart is not tall, but he's also another one of these power kind of big men that's going to set big hard screens. Neither one of them are real offensive threats. Right. But the idea I think would be to pull one of them out of the paint. Because that's been the problem. Like when the games that I've seen them, the Knicks play against the Pistons is, you know, you try to get Brunson into the paint and one of those bigs just comes over and now you got to, you know, not only the. Whoever's guarding him now, you have the big man come over and crowd him. Now there's no space to move. So it will be interesting. I think that's a duo that if they get to a Celtic series, could be a very valuable duo. More there though, you think? More valuable. I feel like that series and a Cleveland series, those two together on the floor at the same time, could have great value. Now this is interesting. Let's hear. Let's hear Kendrick Perkins, our friend. Oh, no, that was yesterday. That was from our show. You want to hear? Let's revisit this for those who might have missed it. Yeah. Here's something Perk told us yesterday about Tibbs and the level of pressure he may have this postseason. I think Tom Thibodeau is under the most pressure probably any coach in the NBA. And the way that we're witnessing right now, coaches are losing their jobs. The back and forth that he had with Mikhail Bridges, too many menace things to that nature. And I love Tibbs. He's my umbutu brother for life. Won a championship with him, but I gotta call it. Like I said, Tom Thibodeau, at least half at bare minimum, forced a seven game series against the Boston Celtics in order to keep his job. Now when he said in bootu, that was like they're saying with the Celtics. Doc Rivers came up with it. It was a way to unify the team. And so that's what he's referring to the Boston Celtics that won the 2008 NBA championship. Dom Thibodeau was the associate head coach next to and he was their defensive coordinator. I mean, that was a great Defensive team, that Celtic team. But what Perk is saying, and we know Perk. I mean, he's unfiltered and he's saying the pressure thing, which is very interesting when you consider. Look at. Think about all the coaches that are in playoffs right now. Who is under the most pressure? Is Mark Dagnall in OKC under pressure? Like, if they don't win the championship this year, Is he getting fired? No. Kenny Atkins? No. Kenny Atkinson just got there and he's done an unbelievable job. He's not getting fired. Now, what about. We all know that Joe Missoula is not getting fired. What about JJ? He just got. He just got hired. And LeBron loves him. He's going nowhere. Yeah, I guess that's under pressure. Think about it. They won 50 games this year. No, they turned out. He's done it. I think JJ Redick's done a fantastic job. Yeah. I hate to say it, but who could get an early exit and. And possibly get fired? We just mentioned. We just mentioned the top four teams. There are no expectations. Really. Anywhere else, you know, Michael Malone would have been one with Denver, right? No, he's not going anywhere. You know, like, where else are you looking? Chris Finch in Minneapolis. In Minnesota. Minnesota. They got to a Western Conference finals last year. If they lose in the first round of the Lakers, do they think that they need to change things there? Sure. They're the dog in that series. Right. Vegas have the Lakers. Interesting. Well, the Lakers are favored because of the higher seed, so they have to be favored. Right. So. So how could you. How could you go out. Yeah. And I just traded car. Anthony Towns, like, you lost a major player. Like, there's a ways to look at it, but I can't imagine them wanting to make a dramatic change like that. So it's a fair statement to make, and it might actually be the most accurate one. Anybody that's under pressure as a coach, it's him. But. But do I think it. Do I think that Leon Rose is sitting there ready to pounce, to fire him? I don't think so. But it doesn't mean that if this doesn't look right, if they look the way they just looked this past week, that you could start wondering, like, what happened here? Something's not right and something needs to be fixed. So it's definitely something to watch. But to Peter's point from earlier, about how the fans can get so on the team, if we're doing a talk show in Minneapolis or we're doing a talk show in LA or when we when we're mentioning coaches that could be in trouble, would they see Tibbs being in trouble? Yes, I think around the league. This has become a thing around the league now. Yeah, I do think it's become enough of a conversation around the NBA that yeah, I do think it's a national conversation now. Now let's hear Stephen A. By the way, he's weighing in on the Tibet of it all. I want to be clear, I don't agree with it, but I'm acknowledging that it's a real thing. Here's Stephen from First State today. I think that if you're the New York Knicks right now we're looking at coach Tom Thibodeau and I'm not saying it should happen. I don't think he should be gone. I think he's an outstanding coach, he knows basketball, he demands hard nose play and he gets it on most occasions. But he may be a scapegoat if the New York Knicks get bounced out in the first round. You know, he's not the one that traded five picks, including four, and protect the first round picks to the Brooklyn Nets for Mikhail Bridges. That was Leon Rose. But who's to say that they're not going to look at Tom Thibodeau, particularly if depth isn't used because you didn't cultivate those cats to be on the court to spell for your starters. Mikel Bridges, of all people and Iron man was complaining during the season about the starters enormity of minutes and the fact that the bench wasn't getting it. All of these things are things to watch out for. So the Knicks need to win this series. Make no mistake about it. I think we all agree on that. And you see, Stephen A. Also said, I don't agree with. He acknowledges what Tibbs has brought and all that stuff too. So you can see that. But we're, we're all sort of looking at the Knicks from a national perspective. We're all looking at it like, you know what, they've, they're winning now. And anybody that's covered the league for a long time, they're all saying this because we've, we've all seen the Knicks not be a good franchise for a long time as far as winning. So this is like, hey, you know, the Knicks are back in the conversation. They're a good team every year. Like this is a good thing for the league. But the pressure locally is a bigger deal right now and it has to be acknowledged. And that's why what they do in this series, I mean game Game one Saturday. That's that. Don't. Do not let this team come in and punch you in the face. You have to be ready to slam the door in game one to lose home court right away. That would be devastating. Yeah, that would lead to the show on Monday, wouldn't it? That and that would lead to a lot of like it that the I'm not even say it's a whisper. The moan right now would be absolute screaming. The groaning and moaning right now would be absolute screaming. It would be beyond groaning. Yeah. If you've shopped online, chances are you've bought from a business powered by Shopify. No, we talked about how laughable it is that, you know, Dave Rotherberg and Rick DiPietro are batting around the possibility of Tibbs being in trouble and all of a sudden a couple of coaches get fired. Dave fall in the end season last week happened. Yeah. So remember they said this before. Last week, played the Celtics, played the Pistons, played the Cavs. Three teams that you, if things go right, those are the three teams you're going to play to get to the finals. And I was not willing to go there yet. But then when I watched how those games went and the fact that they were up double digits in all three games and could not close the deal and in one of those games, the team you were playing was ready to just wave the white flag, not interested. That's the Cavs. So that is when it got to me. Like, okay, like this. This doesn't look right. Right. And then Malone becomes available. Yeah, that's the other part. Didn't know about that. Everything just began to snowball. Yeah. Let's take Blanderson. Hooper, big fan. What's up, Blanderson? What's going on, guys? How are you? All right, quick question, quick point before I get to my, my next point. Alan, are you familiar with James Edwards iii? Yeah. Writer. Good. The beat. Right? Yeah. He put out an article this morning on the Athletic about three Knicks fans and their views on the season. It was a companion piece, the one he did before the season. I'm the second fan featured in that article. Ok. But about the Knicks, I couldn't agree with Peter and Jacob more when it comes to tips. Now listen, he is not a perfect coach. I get it. But this team was absolute hot garbage before he got here. They had 38 combined wins in the two seasons before he got here. He shows up, they win 41. Yeah. They take a step back the second season, but 47, 50, 51. I mean, they're headed in the right direction. And I know he doesn't, he shouldn't get all the credit for this. But I don't think that you can just ignore the fact that Brunson turns into a superstar here under Tibbs, that Josh Hart comes here and now he's a triple double machine that you know OG had his best season of his career under Tibbs. That deuce has developed into a really good rotational get like the head scratch and stuff with the minutes and stuff. At times, I just. I don't understand why fans have it out for him. And the idea that anybody would want them to lose as an excuse so we could get rid of him, to me is just. It's just a total insanity. It's. I've been trying to say it right. It's been a thing, the minutes police. It's been out there. It's followed him from Chicago. Yeah. And I think the Derrick Rose injury is what started it because as everybody remembers, it was, you know, not meaningless minutes, but the game was kind of. Most people would have said the game was decided. He's out there. That's when he lands and blows up the knee. And so it's like, what's he doing out there? Why is he playing? And then you saw how many minutes he was playing, guys, and it was leading us into the load management era. So it was the perfect storm for him. Of the old school way of, you play your guys, you play your best, you try to win every night. And the new school mentality of got a rest, the season's too hard. You want your players healthy and fresh come playoff time. And his thing is you got to get there and you got to be in rhythm. Yeah. And so I do think it was a confluence of those two things that have created his reputation that he'll never be able to shake now. It could be a thing. It happened to Gallant, right. With the Rangers conference final, are we going to win the cup? Get bounced in the first round by the Devils, blow to nothing, series lead, he's out the door. Yeah, this, this. So how is this going to. I don't see him surviving a first round. And the crazy thing is Vegas is telling you the Knicks should win. Your eyeballs are telling you, I really don't know. And you look at the season record and Detroit was 31 against the Knicks this year. So it is very interesting that they're pretty heavily favored. And at the same time, your eyeballs and the record are telling you the Knicks struggle with this team. They do because of the physicality. That's the part that I think everybody's watching. And that's what everybody, every fan brings up. Last year's team, this wouldn't be an issue. They'd be up for the fight. This year's team didn't have that same. Well, why, why is Vegas not seeing it? If so Many other people think this is going to be a tough one. All the ESPN NBA experts, all of them pick the Knicks to win this series. Every single one of them. 10 for 10. Again, not surprising. It's a, it's a, it's a three versus a six. Yeah. And we'll see what the odds are a veteran team versus a very, very inexperienced. And we'll also see what the odds are for the play ins because I'm sure the Celtics and the Thunder will be heavier favorites. But right now, of the series that are matched up, this is the most one sided as far as Vegas is concerned. I'll put it out there. So worried. I'll put it out there right now. Knicks are winning this in five. All right, there you go then. That's. That should be nothing. Really. Hope you're right. I don't know if I can take it. Just for everybody's hearts and minds, don't have the one loss be Saturday. I know for us it might be great. Yeah. But just for the stress factor. Yeah. It would take to get everybody off the. Jalen Brunson turns it up. Not a notch like five notches in the play. He's averaging. I'll do this quick. Jalen Brunson is averaging 30.3 points per game in 24 playoff games with the Knicks. That's incredible. 30 points a game in 24 playoff games with the Knicks. The only other player in the 30s is Bernard King. He did 32 points a game and 18 playoff games. So Brunson's played more playoff games, scoring over 30 points a game. He is an unstoppable machine in the postseason. He just knows how to turn it up. And so with that in mind, you start there with anybody that says, oh, the Pistons have the best player in the series. Wrong. The Knicks have the best player in the series in Jalen Brunson. They have the best two players out of the top three. But of course, again, it's about everybody else showing up and doing their job. What are we worried about? I just said them five. These gentlemen sweep, they're a better team. And it's different in the playoffs. And this team has that experience. And a guy that turns it up in the postseason. Are you gentleman sweep is to me, gentleman sweep is to take game four. No, I don't look at gentleman sweep as. Oh, you, you mean you're up three. Oh. And then. Is that how you look at it, Peter? Gentlemen sweep to me is you're up three. Oh, and lose game four. Yes. I just think it's true gentleman sweep is like I get, you get, you get four out of five. But either way, game three in Detroit, they haven't had a playoff series there in forever. There's a game three in Detroit's gonna be massive crazy. So you never know with those games. But hey, look, the Knicks should have been up 30 on the Pacers, and that building was crazy that night. And they made it on a ridiculous this guy shot it out of his ass and it went in right? And that series turned on that dime. You know, guys, I have a message. It's brought to you by BetterHelp. All right, therapy can be a big investment in many ways. Time, financially, all of that. Love you guys, but this call is a shout out to Don and all the hockey announcers out there because life happens while you guys are calling the game and just calling. Let you know, my dad's 89 and he's a huge San Jose Shark fan. Okay? And three, four weeks ago he was watching the game and between the second and third period he went into the kitchen to warm up Dinner. And he fell and he broke his hip. Oh, no. And he's got a bad shoulder and he only has one shoulder that operate dysfunctional. And he was on the ground and basically asking himself, do I have five days to wait for my daughter to come find me or do I crawl 30ft across the floor to grab the phone call 91 1. And it was the dark. See the announcing crew that kept him occupied for the hour that he crawled across the room. And he knew it was well after the game. They were given three stars and doing post game stuff by the time the ambulance came. But it was the dark game, the toughness of the hockey and the distraction of the announcers that kept my dad alive. So, you know, while you guys are calling the game, life happens. And it just. I want to say thank you to them, but also just thank you to you guys and you know, all the work that you guys do. Well, shout out to your granddad. But also more importantly, give a shout out. I guess it was television. So Randy Hahn and Drew Amanda are the announcers of San Jose Sharks. So great job by that. But listen, how's he doing now? He's in the hospital. He's in the VA hospital in San Francisco. But I watch as much hockey and golf and basketball as he can. But honestly, he loves the Sharks. He thinks they could win any junior tournament that they play in right now because they're so young. Right. That's a good line too. But, but man, I just thank you guys for doing what you do. Yeah. And I sent an email to the Shark Org so they know that this happened too. Thanks for sharing that, Eric. And it gives. Give. You give that. Keep it. Keep us an update on what's going on with him and all that. I think Tom Holly is still their PR director. Maybe try to get the, get him to send something. Yeah, we'll get that clip. Yeah. And we'll send it to them and make sure that they're. They're aware of this story. But that's an unbelievable, unbelievable story. You think about what he had to go through just to get across the floor. But man, hey, happy three month birthday, Maya. Maya. Like that. Three months. That was fast. Three months. Thanks for listening to the Don Han and Rosenberg podcast. I don't want to know how the sausage is made, man. I just want to know. It's good.
